The White Lies About Black Gold

November 25, 2009 by

The White Lies About Black Gold

(Part two of a three-part series on energy. Part three will appear Dec. 9)

“You lie!”
Rep. Joe Wilson during President Barack Obama’s healthcare 2009 speech

It’s one year after Barack Obama’s presidential victory and the winds of winter are beginning to gale. But don’t expect him to give Jimmy Carter-like sweater-clad chats from a chilly Oval Office.

Carter—the first president to warn us about Arab oil dependency three decades ago—is irrelevant to today’s Democrats. Rather than engage the nation about our critical dependence on Middle East oil, Obama and the Democrats have either ignored our energy problems, or worse—outright lied about them.

At the August 2008 Democratic National Convention Obama declared: “I’ll invest 150 billion dollars over the next decade in renewable energy—an investment that will lead to new industries and 5 million new jobs that pay well and can’t ever be outsourced.”

Apparently Obama didn’t feel as “green” after winning the election. Just one day after he reiterated his commitment to renewable fuels in his State of the Union address in January 2009, we were told that the president’s budget cuts would force layoffs at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Then there is Obama’s proclamation made on Oct. 15, 2008, during the presidential debates:

“In 10 years,” said candidate Obama, “we can reduce our dependence so that we no longer have to import oil from the Middle East or Venezuela.”

It’s Called Peak Oil Mr. President
Such comments reveal a president that is either naïve about the energy situation, or is concerned with what is politically expedient. I can’t decide which.

What I do know is that what he says about oil is impossible. And I should know; I have been around petroleum all my life.

My dad was a geologist and oil trader when some of the biggest petro fields in world were struck in the 1950s and 1960s. He became the founder and publisher of OilWeek, a weekly petroleum magazine that counted the Saudi Oil Ministry among its subscribers and which is still published to this day in Calgary, Canada.

I studied geology during the first oil crisis of the 1970s. I graduated from the University of Calgary just as prices were cresting at $36 per barrel—more than 10 times higher than where they had been at the beginning of the decade.

For nearly 30 years I’ve been covering the oil markets and writing about energy. I am certainly not the smartest fellow in and around oil and gas. But I’ve had the good fortune to meet some of the men and women who are.

All would tell you the one truth that I know—that the United States of America is critically dependent on Arab oil.

It is called Peak Oil, and for the U.S. that happened 40 years ago.

Today the U.S. is pumping just 4.9 million barrels of oil per day (mb/d), or just a little more than half of the oil pumped in 1970. In fact the U.S. hasn’t pumped such little oil since the 1940s when Truman was President and our population was half of what it is today.

It is a situation that is going to only get worse as America’s Big Three crude producers—Texas, California and Alaska—are showing major declines.

Nearly half of our domestic crude production comes from these three states. Yet Texas’ oil output has fallen by 57 percent since 1981. California delivers just a little more than half of what it was pumping in 1985 and Alaska, once America’s oil oasis, has had production decline by a whopping two-thirds in the past 20 years.

Why the Bakken Formation is Baloney
One final note about domestic oil production—every time I write about it, I get comments about the Bakken formation.

The Bakken formation is in North Dakota and Montana. A lot of people wanting to sell newsletters and/or penny oil stocks have claimed incredible numbers for the region; some say it holds billions of barrels of oil, others say hundreds of billions of barrels of oil. One promoter even wrote that it had 2 trillion barrels of oil! If true that would mean there is more than twice as much oil below North Dakota rock than what remains in the rest of the world.

The best undertaking of the region was done by the Pittman/Price/LeFever study which estimated the volume of oil at 200 billion to 400 billion barrels. But here is the rub: because of the lower permeability and lower porosity of the formations, only 1 percent of this total is likely to be recovered at an effective cost. In other words we are talking at best 4 billion barrels—about enough oil to keep the U.S. going for five months.

The geology in North Dakota means that the oil is not pooled in elephant fields like Prudhoe Bay in Alaska, Ghawar in Saudi Arabia or Cantarell in Mexico.

Furthermore, meaningful production from the Bakken formation won’t take place for more than a decade. (That’s a similar timeline to bringing new Alaskan oil to market).

According to The Oil Drum, at some point we might have production of 225,000 barrels per day from the Bakken formation, “Which will have only a minor effect on U.S. production or imports.”

To read a detailed geologic analysis of the Bakken formation, go to: http://www.theoildrum.com/node/3868.

Digging Instead of Drilling
So while bragging up the Bakken may sell newsletters, it won’t save America from an impending oil crisis. And make no mistake, one is on the way.

We have some stopgap measures, including opening up new areas as well as horizontal drilling and offshore drilling. But oil magnate T. Boone Pickens estimates that if every possible new technology worked and if drilling restrictions were completely removed, the U.S. would still, “Only squeeze another 2 mb/d in added (annual) production.”

As it stands right now the U.S. is importing more than 13 million barrels of oil every day. That total is going to grow and within the next few years one-third of all our oil may come from the Middle East.

Meanwhile—as we discussed in Clean Energy is Pure Fantasy—alternative energy solutions are decades away from fruition.

However there is a real and reliable energy source just a few hundred miles north of Calgary. It is the oil sands of Alberta and Saskatchewan and it is already a major supplier of crude oil to the U.S.

Over the coming decade its importance will only increase and investors that take a stake in it will continue to earn big profits.

Canada is already the largest supplier of oil to the U.S., exporting 2 mb/d. About 1.3 mb/d come from oil sands. Yet in the next 10 years oil sands production will soar to 3.4 mb/d.

Given the rapid decline of Mexican and Alaskan oil fields over that span, Canada will become America’s energy lynchpin, providing it with 4.2 mb/d, or more oil than what the U.S. will be pumping for itself.

Invest in Suncor Energy
I first toured Suncor Energy (NYSE, SU, $36.30) nine years ago and as the editor of Outstanding Investments. I urged my subscribers to buy this stock in April 2001 for $12.69 per share (see Suncor price chart below).

But the story of Suncor dates back further than 2001 and will extend well beyond 2010.

It is Canada’s original oil sands developer, having produced the first barrel of crude oil from the Athabasca oil sands in Alberta in 1967.

Today Suncor is the world’s second largest producer of oil sands crude (after Syncrude Canada Ltd.) and is the only company to currently use both mining and in-situ resource technologies.

A fully integrated company, Suncor upgrades the oil from the oil sands to the level of conventional crude at its upstream facilities and then ships the crude to the company’s refineries east to Ontario and south to Colorado.

In August 2009, Suncor merged with Petro-Canada. The move made it Canada’s largest energy company and the fifth largest North American energy company based on market capitalization (the price of the stock times the number of shares trading, which in Suncor’s case is $57 billion).

Action to Take: Buy Suncor at market. The weakening U.S. dollar and supply constraints on oil will push crude prices higher. Suncor stock will continue to climb alongside rising petroleum prices.

Yours for real wealth and good health,

John Myers

You can’t blame Obama for the energy situation. He has taken a bad problem and is trying to make it better. The real lie is in what Mr. Myers says — that alternative energy doesn’t work. It does and if we want to improve the climate we better start using it.

    • MJ Montana

You’re not too up on current events R U Johnnyrite. Try picking up a newspaper. Global warming is a big shame perpertrated by goverment. Its called Climategate and it’s being called the greatest hoax of modern science. Go to Drudge and read what it says is: “Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information…”

      • s c

MJ, I don’t know what Johnny and AS are smoking or snorting, but their collective ignorance serves only to protect those who shouldn’t be allowed with 3,000 miles of washington. Comrade obama is anything but a problem-solver. He comes from a long line of problem creators.
Alternative eergy has been ignored for far too long. Even if it is viable, we won’t see the results in any hurry. As a result, the present energy non-policy is a matter of living in denial to please friends who have no clue.
Comrade obama’s ‘idea’ will make energy costs higher, his filthy rich friends will be swimming in
money (probably anything but dollars), America will become a third world country, and comrade obama can sit back, knowing he was able to implode the US via anti-American lies, scams and turncoats.
So, are Johnny and AS future czars? They do seem to have all “necessary qualifications” (ignorance, acute denial, non-science equals ‘genius,’ leaders who need to be in a mental asylum, and a philosophy that says 1+1= anything that ‘feels good’).
And, they dare to wonder how anyone can find fault with this crap. Some people never learn because it’s easier to be psychotic (after all, “the government” will pay for their treatment). MMMM, MMMM, MMMM!

        • http://www.easyinvest.co.za pete

Remember s c that one can forgive and accept plus assist in healing stupidity, but ignorance is something else, primarily and seemingly reserved for those who prefer to shut their eyes, cover their ears and preach rubbish (remind you of someone?)and in the process elect blindly those leaders who also preach rubbish incessantly! There are so many people who go by your example of 1+1 = anything that makes you feel good!
There are even those who believe that the recession is over and we will be back to “the good times” by thanksgiving – are they just stupid or ignorant – maybe both!

        • Peter

You guys are all funny! If it wasn’t so serious I’d be busting a gut and peeing myself all at once over your claims and counter-claims!
This has nothing to do with climate change, whether it’s a scam or not. It has everything to do with the fact usable oil is fast running out. The Arabs know it, that’s why they’re using their oil income now to build mega tourist playgrounds for the future. It’s the only hope they’ve got.
There is only one reason America is in this precarious situation right now, and it has to do not with partisan politics, but with the oil & motor industry. Credible inventors, many of them American, have for many years been coming up with technologies that could replace the internal combustion engine. But self-interested corporations have habitually bought up the rights to these inventions then trashed them or buried them, never to be seen again. America could have been 20 – 30 years further down the track toward efficient replacements for I/C engines if corporate greed and skulduggery hadn’t been allowed to flourish. As the Good Book says, “What a man sows, so shall he reap.”

          • Dyke Davis

Thanks, Peter for putting some real context to the current state of energy in the U.S. I have know for years and possibly decades that our capitalist industrial elites have kept this country tied to the status quo concerning I/O technology dependence.
It is too early in this new Obama administration to really grasp the direction they/he will go in this area of energy innovation and infrastructure realignment to meet the demands of the 21st. Century. But, already the writings on the wall…if we fail to make the necessary global changes necessary for all the possibilities whether negatively or other. We could truely become a third-world country fully dependent on the good graces of others.

          • DaveH

Can you provide evidence of these bought and covered-up technologies? Why haven’t you Liberals bought some of these great inventions and saved us all?

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Who bought up what and when? Id like to know. Or are you just repeating urban myth stories? If you have some factual evidence, please share it. What do you have?

          • Doug_Co

As a centrist I find it hard to believe that some sort of conspiracy has kept fanciful inventions out of the hands of the public – not impossible, but hard to believe. And my thinking really has more to do with the inability of the American public to come to much of an agreement when a powerful industry lobbies to confuse the public. And I find it hard to believe that the auto industry would be willing to fall on its own sword just to please the oil industry – especially these days. I think if certain fanciful transportation inventions did exist in some dark corner of GM’s, Chrysler’s, or even Ford’s attic they’d want to pull at least one or two of them out right about now.

          • Doug_Co

But speaking of “You lie!”, the big question I have for John Myers or anyone else who can answer me is clarification of John Myers’ reference for the statement, “Just one day after [President Obama] reiterated his commitment to renewable fuels in his State of the Union address in January 2009, we were told that the president’s budget cuts would force layoffs at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.”

It was President Bush who made significant cuts to NREL shortly after his State of the Union speech in January, 2006.

Can anyone point me to a reference where NREL has netted significant layoffs since Obama’s speech? Or is this simply a way for John to stir up controversy for his newsletter?

      • denniso

MJ…Drudge is a political hack..you shouldn’t go to him for information, much like this site that has a clear political agenda. If you think global warming is a scam than you believe that almost the entire world is in on it? You’re stretching credibility past the breaking point. IGNORE DRUDGE!!!!!

        • Jackie

The hypothesis that human caused carbon dioxide is causing global warming is a hoax. There is no empirical evidence to prove this hypothesis. The computer generated models used by the IPCC have been proven to be unreliable. They evaluate too short a period of time to do an accurate evaluation of the changes in temperature. To give a correct picture of temperature change it must be done in geologic climate times. 7,000 years is the minimum amount of time needed. If you go back 400,000 years to the Holocene period and chart the empirical evidence it is clear, the evidence proves the earth goes through warming and cooling periods and the present temperatures ares not out of the norm. In fact, in the Holocene there were temperatures five degrees warmer than today, however, 90% of the Holocene was cooler. Empirical evidence shows that the climate is homeostatic-self regulating. It balances positive and negative feedback. For most of the earth’s history carbon dioxide levels have been much higher than today during which time there were several cooling periods. One example is the Ordovician period when carbon dioxide concentrations were twelve times higher than today (4,400 parts per million compared to today 380 parts per million) during which there was an Ice Age. Historically there has been much higher concentrations of carbon dioxide. During the Cambrian period it was 7,000 parts per million and the average temperature was 68 degrees F. If you look at
CO2 and temperature over geologic time, you can see clearly that the hypothesis that carbon dioxide is responsible for global warming is false.

          • denniso

jackie…you’re making up numbers, but even if they were real, there are other climate factors that come into play..it isn’t as simple as CO2 and temp. One simple example is that you could have very high CO2 levels AND high particulates in the atmosphere. The particulates(from volcanic activity or meteorites)decrease the amount of solar radiation reaching earth which causes relative cooling…high CO2 acts as a greenhouse gas and adds to relative warming. You can then wind up w/ a moderate temp despite the two parameters having high levels. There are several more variables involved and too complex for most people to grasp. That’s why scientists are studying this stuff and not you people. You had better read much more science before you make fools of yourselves again.

          • Jana

Sure den. Like the scientists who manipulated the facts?

        • American Citizen

It’s not only on Drudge, it’s all over the news about the hoax of global warming. They’ve found the evidence those junk scientists were doing and the lies they are telling.

        • Dyke Davis

I find it rather convenient for those that on the one hand praises our scientific superority for decades of innovation, industrialization and technology explosion, in all areas of our national GDP. Yet, when these same scientist unveil the dangers we face as the result of the impact of our advances, then all hell breaks lose.
Why is it good science when consumers and investors came either use the new gadget now or invest in its manufacturing, yet it is bad science when it looks like our lives will be utterly changed for the worst, if we do not embrace something that does not compu, do tricks or make us money?
The adult world we live in makes it critical that we learn to embrace our achievements equal to the consequences of those achievements. Hopefully, we can now start designing and building a world where full consideration of the variables are going to be built into all of our plans for the future

          • DaveH

You know, Dyke, in a free society (which Liberals abhore), you can choose to make all the right choices. Put your money where your mouth is. Leave the rest of us alone.

          • denniso

Good comment..these blowhards are clueless though and won’t listen.

          • denniso

I meant, good comment Dyke D..not DaveH, he is one of the clueless.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

and denniso is just a common hack.

        • Jackie

          denniso:

I am not making up numbers, I have no reason to make up numbers. I have studied the environment as part of the requirements for a Environmental Geography degree. I was addressing the issue of CO2. The facts speak for themselves. Go to any public library and look up the geological time periods and atmospheric carbon dioxide and you can see the data yourself.

          • Jana

Jackie, good for you. We need honesty out there.

    • http://aol.com Holly Marcyoniak

PLEASE LIST ONE EXAMPLE OF ONE WAY OBAMA HAS TRIED TO HELP !!!!

      • http://www.easyinvest.co.za pete

Well Holly he did………….and then there was….oh!just forget it – slipped my mind anyway!

      • s c

Holly, in defense of comrade obama (kinda), and without trying to be too sarcastic, he has managed (somehow) to keep us out of a war with people who live on other planets (so far). If it was deemed ‘necessary,’ however, I am certain that we would be involved in a war on another planet.
Just remember, with this prez, it’s simply a matter of whatever ‘the glorious leader wants, the glorious leader must have.’
Common sense has NOTHING to do with what goes on between comrade obama’s l a r g e ears or among progressive ultraliberals who suffer from classic,
obsessive control over everyone and everything (because ‘we mortals don’t know what’s good for us’).

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

Better yet Holly- Can anyone name anything that was taking place here in America before the name Obams was ever heard by any ear here in America?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Well, lets see. First he, no wait, that hurt us. Then he, no wait, that hurt us to. But then he, no wait, that was bad too. Never mind, I cant think of one thing.

    • David

Johnnywrong, I can tell ya the renewable idea is all the talk right now but try meeting with the real engineers that actually run the utility companies and listen to them. In the Mid-Atlantic states, where I live, at the end of cap/trade allocations for utilities (2030) they are expecting at the most to be at 12% renewable energy. So they lost their 35% free allocations and only offset 12% with renewables….what does this mean for the price of energy?

I think big o said it would skyrocket, and he is correct. Also alternate energy to fossil is nuke. So why isn’t it in the legislation? Because they can’t tax carbon neutral energy.

We are right, you are wrong.

    • Mike

      Johnnyrite,
apparently you are not paying attention to the exposed “global warming” myth. alternative energy will serve some needs in the future, but please stop the global warming / environmental nonsense,, because as we are finding out from the emails that were hacked, its a hoax.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sure it works Mr. Johnny, if you can own 5 million acres and put up a couple thousand wind fans to power your house. For one, most cannot afford the wind turbines or whatever they are called, or afford the repairs when the bearings and such wear out, and two they dont put out squat for energy, and 3 they are such an eyesore, and 4, they kill birds by the hundreds and I thought the greenies wouldnt like that, but they dont seem to mind. Imagine that. Can someone spell agenda?

    • Brian75

Look up and study the “Oil Sands”!! They are in canada. In northern Alberta, It’s like a state, there is a vast aria of oil sands, about 50 feet thick. Thats the first level down, how far down it goes???? It’s hundreds of square miles. You don’t have to find it…you just set up anywhere and its there. >> Mind you it does cost a bit to extract it from the sands. >> It is Obvious, if you see this vast aria; the northern third of Alberta, that internalizing our supply of oil is just going to take time and enterprise. We can do it, and we will do it!!!!

  • ASGreen

I don’t see how you can recommend oil sands given the destruction it does to the enviornment. It is dirty oil that pollutes the air, wrecks the landscape, kills wildlife and leads to global warming.

I find your comments about Arab oil hinting of racism. Saudi Arabia has always been a friend to America. That isn’t going to stop. Arabs are no more likely to turn off the tap than Canadians!

    • Lena

HAHAHA! I really hope Canadians aren’t dumb enough to turn off the taps. Me living in Canada might influence that decision but I find it highly unlikely Canada won’t cooperate with you bloodthirsty yanks. Take whatever you want! Just don’t rub off your destructive streak on our country. We have enough problems of our own. As for Saudi Arabia, America can always fake another terrorist attack and blame them, invade, destroy their country, their reputation, their lives… the usual.

      • David

Is that cold up there already? I think your cognitive skills are slipping. Go sit by the fire….oh crap you can’t do that either….climate change.

      • American Citizen

Lena, I think you are suffering from brain fog.

      • kilrntex

How do you type in a straight jacket? Voice activated maybe? I bet you’re still laughing, bouncing off the walls with your helmet on!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Why invade Saudi Arabia, when we have a bunch of pacifist appeasers living up north of us, that have plenty of oil if we need it, and they wouldnt put up a fight, as the french in them would make them run and hide like little girls. If it wasnt for us, you wouldnt be walking around free today talking your smack. Its only because of your close location to the United States, that you havent yet been taken over by another country. Now crawl back up in the fetal position.

      • denniso

Lena, thanks for your smart comment about that part of my country that some of these tough guys represent..the part that we who can actually think would like to disown..I think one good use is for them to run off to Iraq/Afghanistan w/ their big guns and see how tough they really are. I’ve been to Canada yrs ago and loved it. Best wishes up there.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You really think Saudi Arabia is a friend of ours? Think again. All of the terrorist in 9-11 were from Saudi Arabia. Saudia Arabia funds a lot of this terrorist activity. They just act as our friend for two reasons. One, they love the billions of dollars we give them for their oil. And Two, they need us to keep them from getting over run by these terrorist groups that their money helps fund. But check it out, they arent our friend. Unless you think of them as that guy that you think is your friend, that youve been going out and getting drunk with for 10 years, and then you quit drinking, and he doesnt want anything to do with you. Then yeah, they are that kind of friend.

      • DaveH

Saudi Arabia is a friend to the US like a car salesman is a friend to his customers.

        • Jana

Dave, now that is a quotable quote.

  • http://victorbarney@embarqmail.com Victor L Barney

What about natural gas? Sounds like an idea to me.

  • http://www.justissoil.com J,F.Justiss Jr.

Rest assured that we will need all energy sources available i.e.middle east oil,Canadian tar sands, bakken and other non conventional shale plays, nuclear, wind, solar, ocean tides, bio fuels, and anything else you can dream up.Timing as always is the culprit and in the short term imports are our life blood. The arabs will not cut us off but they will run out of their huge capacity in the not too distant future.Government needs to keep out of the way of Capitalism if we are to maintain any balance of oil production in the short term.Let them support those longer term projects that are not economically feasible at this time. The ecological considerations will have to be brought into a more reasonable position than we currently have.Frankly,I am not too worried about the Polar bear.

  • Reynolsd

New drilling is at least a 10 year indevour and would result in little impact. How long has it been since a new refinery was built, not expanded. 10+ years. It takes 10 years to build them. You can increase supply, but if you don’t increase refining (another 10 year indevour) you not doing crap.

In that same 10 year cycle we could switch to a large scale production of alternative energies(which is the #1 growth market). It’s just too bad that the US has buried their head to this. China is investing in a 1 Billion Dollar project, here in the US and is poised to be the leader in this technology space. Great Job…

Needless to say, my oppionion is that solving the broader issues with terrorism and rougue foreign goverments is directly related to the money they receive for oil. How many of the oil producing countries are truly Democratic…Russia, Venezeula, Iran, Saudia Arabia…There’s absolutely zero need to be Democratic when you can fund the governments with Oil. Switch off of Oil and Killing demand for oil is key. Us just switching to locally obtained oil, does little to change the world market. If Europe, China, India, and the US switch away from Oil to alternative Resources, we cut the fund and source these countries. Sounds like a much better goal.

Hey wait, Nuclear Technology is the answer, NOT, given that we’re already having mass shortages of Uranium. I think we need to spend alot more money in this area just to keep up with the technology, but this doesn’t sound like a strong solution.

So, back to Wave, Wind, Solar, and whatever else this wonderful country can dream up.

As to your attacks on Globar Warming. Get your head out of your ___. The ultimate issue is about Polution. Fact – We are producing more waste, toxins, etc than what we are managing and it’s having an impact. If its not impacting weather, it’s impacting life, health, etc. What is the cost of lack of water? Weather we think global warming is real, it’s a fact that glaciers over Mexico City are going to produce a water shortage and along with flooding, its going to cost Trillions.

So you’re proposing do nothing. Switch to a group that has done nothing. Step up and do something, other than complain. It takes a variety of oppions to get to the true solutions.

    • David

You have completely missed the big picture. Our environmental regulations are now coming down to not allowing industry to emit the very “pollution” that comes out of your mouth every time you breath, CO2, or out of your butt methane (which is 17 times more potent than co2).

In the past, big industry did take advantage of the environment and needed to be regulated. BUT now the rules are so restrictive that it is almost impossible for US industry to compete. So they move abroad. Our largest competitor built a massive plant in China. Their Enviro Manager told me that the local “epa” told him they would allow them to turn off many of their pollution control devices if they would hire more people.

Once cap/trade kicks in and the hidden tax (utility rate increases of 50%) kick in; you have effectively eliminated the cost of transporting Chinese goods overseas to us. The end game is in sight and you are too blind to see it.

I live in the midst of some of the richest uranium country in the U.S., and there is still significant quantities to mine out. But with the environmentalist
fighting every thing from mining to milling, it is
tough to get started if at all. These folks that are
putting up the big fuss have moved here from east coast, & the left coast, and think they should change the way we live to their liking, and ride their bikes
and call us down because we don’t & they are like you. They have shut down the dilling, timber cutting (which are dead or dieing because of the beetle kill from not being thinned. But they are still the smartest in their own minds. No common sense. And the cause of all the shortage in anything to do with energy.

There is no global warming. All hype, perpetuated by Al Gore and the tree huggers to get more money from the government, and to try to make billions forcing green technology on all of us. Fact is, the planet has been cooling since the 1970′s.

  • Bill Thomas

Clean air and water won’t mean a hell of a lot when you don’t have a viable economy producing goods or products, and worse you don’t have the basic energy sources to run an economy. With the political actions being pushed upon us by the 435 temple monkeys and senators in Washington, we won’t be able to compete with countries such as China, India, etc. who oh by the way are setting up contracts with energy producing countries to make certain that they have the resources they need to “grow” their economy. Furthermore, they are not hampered by environmental hustlers like Al Gore and have no plans to abide by money grabs such as ‘Cap and Trade’.

    • s c

Well said, Bill Thomas! And, you were very polite. It’s too bad it will take another generation for ultraliberal progressives and their fellow temple monkeys and devolved darwinians to ‘catch on.’
I’ve always wondered how they can claim to have a moral compass or any claim to being ‘elite,’ when they specialize in ‘talented’ people like al ‘make me RICHER’ gore, comrade obama, nancy p and baaney fwank. And we’re supposed to trust them and their 2,000+ pages of health care reform insanity?
And that’s BEFORE we try to understand how 1+1= whatever feels good, regardless of how complex or simple the topic is. If ignorance is bliss, ultraliberal progressives must be living in the suburbs of nirvana.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Well said yourself sc, well said. I agree with every word of it. But how dare you cite the truth to the left. They dont like truth and facts you know.

    • American Citizen

Right on! As I’ve said before, the progressives are taking us backwards into the stone age.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. If you sit on your behind and do nothing about an impending problem, the fault lies entirely with you. In the late 70´s, there was a major federal investment in alternatives-today we reap the benefits of not prolonging that investment.
And for every friend of Obama who is involved in earning millions from alternative, there are 50 oil operatives already sitting on theirs.
Our website writer is heavily invested in oil, family wise, emotionally, career-wise, value wise. He himself admits he´s from an oil family. His vested interest and fat cat status is plain for all to see.

    • DaveH

Why don’t the Libs get together, pool their money, and get rich from their great energy alternatives? They could save us all and make money at the same time. Oh wait, it’s because their schemes aren’t economically viable yet. Well, we just need to put money concerns aside and buy them anyway. Damn the poor people. We should all be happy to live in poverty so the Elite can have their way.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That, and the fact that the left doesnt put their money where their mouth is, as they find it more convenient to take other peoples money and do with it what they want. Thats why they constantly create more and more social agencies, so they can take more and more money from the working and give it to the stiffs that dont want to work. They are great at spending other peoples money.

  • Paul

For the last eight years, the earth has been cooling at a very slight amount. However, the Global Warming Neo-Nazi-Socialists have lied, destroyed real data, and tried every trick in the book to make us think that the polar bears are dying and the ocean is going to rise 2 feet. This will of course leave millions of people without a place to live. Give me a break. When the truth comes out, and it will, these big-government socialists will just find another tragedy to get envolved with to scare people into thinking that the only hope we have is to let government save us with higher taxes and less freedom and liberty in our lives.

    • Ray

Um…Dude, the Glaciers are disappearing and islands are sinking. Get your head out of your butt and look around. Mexico City is heavily dependent on Glacier Waters for a source of drinking….The glaciers and Mountain Ice is nearly gone. Mexico city without water…no problem.

Your right it’s just coencidence, Though the Glaciers on the top of Mt Everist are also Shrinking, along with the Glaciers in Africa. Humm Your right, that must mean its getting colder.

How much evidence do you freaking need.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

But the polar ice caps are growing bigger and thicker everyday. In fact, they are getting so big, they are collapsing under their own weight, and these are the pictures the left shows saying they are melting. No, they are getting bigger and expanding. The polar bears they show swimming, are doing that, swimming. 3 of them drowned in a huge storm one day, and they made it out like everything melted and they had no place to go. Please. Ive seen the shows where these same Polar bears are having to walk 20 miles across frozen ocean to get to the open water. Your global warming is in error, if you care to listen to geological scientists, that actually study this stuff and know what they are talking about, or you can chose to listen to Al Gore’s scientists, that know nothing about this stuff. The planet has actually cooled since the 70′s, and the ice caps are good and solid and growing so fast they have to break off under their own weight, then they grow some more. I did notice this year, with all these cooler temperatures, that Al Gore has gone back into the closet, and isnt on TV every two minutes like he was 2 years ago when it was a warm year. Just look at history Ray, weather is cyclical. It gets warm, and it gets cold. Always has, always will. There is no global warming, so I suggest to stop listening to Al Gore and his desires to make himself rich over this by stirring up your frenzy. Have a good day. Its much cooler than normal right now.

      • DaveH

Yeah Ray, and the sky is yellow. It’s interesting the islands are sinking and yet the shoreline near where I lived most of my life is the same as it was 20 years ago.

      • kilrntex

So that’s why they are all moving here. Damn, I thought it was because Ali Baba and his theives opened the gate at the border for reinforcements. If we are in deep Global warming, how can there be “glaciers” in Mexico? Did algore tell you that? As for me and Texas, we refuse to let anyone drink from our “glacier”. They can drill for oil through it, as it covers all of West Texas, but don’t worry! We have large skimmers that remove the oil from the melting ice before we drink it. That which is contaminated we sell to DC politicians. It makes ‘em piss ignorant.

One other point needs to be addressed and that concerns the climate debate that is currently raging all over the world.CARBON DIOXIDE IS NOT A POLLUTANT.It is the staff of life on this planet. Our food chain is absolutely 100% dependent on it and plant growth is measured by the amount in our atmosphere. The geological record indicates that plant life was much better when we had higher percentages of co2 than we have today.Read Leighton Steward’s book Fire Ice and Paradise for more details on the subject.

This “Dark Age Denial” of the cause and effects of exploitation of our environment is dangerous. Green technologies have been obstructed by the corporatocracy and their “ditto heads”, that depends on gouging profiteering, not exponential profits of sustainability. Green technologies have made great strides in areas that promote them; a win/win, contributing to the economy and the environment. Evolution depends on innovation for efficiency and conservation of energy; in other words, sustainable, win/win ways, otherwise systems self implode. If we are truly conservative, we must continue to be open to innovation for sustainable ways and change our mind set from addiction to exploitation. This is a law of physics, on earth as it is in the heavens.
President Obama has asked US all to work with him and is open to different views to find the most pragmatic ways to transition to solutions, in all the crisis we face. Criticizing to ill will mongering is small minded and counterproductive, critiquing with sound debate, raises the bar for contribution to the well being of all of US, with global ripple effects.

    • denniso

Laura…great comment. Keep it up, but be prepared to be called names. Ignore them when it happens.

Names? Webster didn’t have definitions for people like you and your liberal buddies. We just have to find a suitable word to fit your intelligence. Sometimes it takes more than one word or else we just have to make up something. Kind of like the crap your programmers wire into your small brains.

Comrade obama thinks pigs can fly. Whatever he has may be contagious, but there are ways to develop an immunity to it. RX: common sense.
A steady diet of ultraliberal progressivism is bad for your mental health – and it sure isn’t doing anything good for America. How much proof do you need?

    • Frank

There is absolutely nothing wrong with alternative energy, I’m all for it. It creates competition and thats Healthy for the economy and the enviroment. Whats not healthy nor right is taxing Americans due to a “Treaty” that creates a tax that Americans will pay to other nations. Regardless if anyone agrees with the idea or not, its UN Constitutional and should NOT happen. I have no issue with innovation, but you cannot comprimise the Constitution! Stand warned- if you do it wont matter, fuel-food-freedom will be only for the rich.

      • Jana

What is wrong with using the energy we have now, drilling and refining it and meanwhile develop new sources of energy?
Oops, I forgot, that makes too much sense and the man called President doesn’t use sense, common or good.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

If you like them, you buy them. I dont think they work, and I have not seen any evidence that they do, other than eating up ones cash flow. But if your all for it, good for you, have at it. Spend every red cent you can on wind turbines, and put those nasty looking solar panels on your roof, and take out a second mortgage to pay for it. I fully support your right to do it. But give me my right to do without this new stuff that doesnt work. Im not buying into it, and in fact, Im not going to ever buy into anything Al Gore is selling. The dude is pathetic.

Bebe – All the windmills in Holland have just been worthless eyesores on the landscape. We all have been lied to by the powers in control.
Windmills produce no power at all.

Not enough to make the investment worthwhile, that is for sure.

      • Jana

BB in Texas we had a gentleman who bought up a lot of land to put windmills on. The only problem was it was not cost effective to get the energy from the windmills to the cities they were to provide energy for. Now he has land and windmills for sale. Probably not cheap for either one though.

    • American Citizen

Where have you been? Don’t you listen to the news or do you only buy the liberal line? They ignore what doesn’t fit their agenda.

    • DaveH

Sorry Laura, but your kind are much more like those that existed in the Dark Ages. Denial, when the facts are right in front of your face. In my early days I always figured the height of arrogance would occur when the Government had the audacity to declare they could control the weather. The man-made Greenhouse Gases contribute less than 10% to the total amount of Greenhouse Gases. To even cut that small added amount in half would require immense human suffering and would likely not change the climate noticeably.
There is one and only one reason for the Global Warming Hysteria and that is to give aid to the Liberals’ Alternative Energy Schemes which are not economically without the force of Big Government.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ive also seen the results of the lefts own studies into this stuff, and they even announced that the biggest cause of greenhouse gas was the evaporation off of the oceans, so unless they come up with one big ass tarp to cover the oceans, they have a plan that is empty.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

No. Obama has actually asked us to turn our head and close our ears, and let him rape and plunder this country. At every turn, he has misjudged what to do, and has blown up unemployment from 4 percent to over 10 percent. Remember when it was 4 percent, and they were just lambasting the Bush admin and telling the public that the economy was in the tank. Its in the tank man. So the, now that he is nearing tripling this, where is the national news media and all their hype? Can someone say “political agenda”. This guy running things now, hasnt a clue, and neither does his party, the dumbocrats. Soon, you watch and see, they will distance themselves from him and throw him under the bus, as it is evident to any who can see, that every decision they have made so far, has been wrong and devastating to this country and to our economy. If you cant see that, then you are blinded by your left wing political agenda also. Truth is truth, so get ahold of it.

Nuclear – lack of uranium – have you ever heard of breeder reactors? They utilize all the U238 that we have lying around – and it’s a LOT – end up converting that to plutonium and using that to refuel another reactor in addition to itself. I worked on the Clinch River Breeder Reactor back in the 70′s before the idiots in Washington realized that we could be energy independent from their oil sucking buddies and shut it down. That was an LMFBR – Liquid Metal Fast Breeder Reactor. At this point, breeders are proven technology. Look at France – it even exports electricity produced by their nuclear plants. We do need to get off our butts and start building some nuclear plants, and fast.

This country needs an “Energy” Revolution to pull us out of this funk.

    • David

      Go on….

  • http://www.stanelaine.com Stan

    Hello John Meyers,
Lindsey Wiliams, who worked with the Alyeska pipeline in Alaska, claims that there are huge oil reserves in and around Gull Island and Prudhoe Bay, and that only a fraction of it is being extracted while the government is sitting on the rest of it. Not that we should suspect the government of ulterior motives! And you are now stating that published information about the Bakkan formation is inaccurate. It would seem that this abundance of misinformation about energy is serving only to confuse anyone who does not have access to the FACTS.
If information is only as reliable as it’s source, then we need to go to the source…where is that reliable source John? The D.E.O.(Department of Energy) perhaps? Lindsey Williams? The Chief Engineers at the above oil companies? With the most destrucive and dangerous government in US history in power, the American people are desperate for someone to trust. This misinformational quagmire only adds to their frustration. From a political perspective, Obama and his Motley crew will not provide us with solutions because they are the problem!
I believe that the same group of people that are pulling Obama’s strings are also behind the energy controversy. Meanwhile there is no reason not to continue research into alternative energy sources.

    • denniso

Stan…’we have the most dangerous administration in history??You speak of misinformation and confusion? Look within Stan. Bush set the world aflame and tried to destroy our gov’t and economy..remember his great scheme to privatize social security? Wouldn’t that have worked nicely w/ the market crash!! And you in your partisan rant think Obama is worse? Everyone in the world w/o a political slant already knows that Bush will go down as the worst and most dangerous ever. Try to be honest for once..at least w/ yourself.

      • David

That’s because they were afraid of Bush. We are now dissarming as we bow to kiss every corrupt butt around the world. An unarmed country is like an unarmed citizen….a subject (sheep)

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

David – I don’t think any voter was or has ever been afraid of Bush
          Jr.
I personally was offended that my vote did not count for squat in 2000 and a stacked court took my voting right away from me and placed a man into the highest office of our land, who we could learn very little about because his past performance records were sealed away in his daddy’s archives. Knowledge is power and they wanted no one to learn anything about the many failures Jr has had in his life. While in office Jr truly showed the voters of what was forced on us.
I also will go so far as to say, all that did happen in Jr’s 8 year tenure was not the doing of him. He was on vacation most of his tenure and was not needed at the White House because Cheney and the rest of the Republican party already knew what the goals for complete control of our nation were to be accomplished. Jr was just the dumb fall guy for every act committed. His price to be paid – To go down in History as the most stupid and worthless puppet President in the history of America and the world over. I kind of felt sorry for him, he was thrust into the biggest position in his whole career and was at a total loss of what to say, what to do or how he should act. In doing anything he showed his total lack of intelligence and education.
But what really scared the beegee’s out of me was the fact that so very many citizens were such party loyalists and lacked the common sense to see through the smoke screen and be honest with themselves. Another fear I had — THese same people get to vote when the voting booths are not rigged to control the overall count.

          • Jana

Dee, and you said you didn’t hate Bush. You sure sound like you do.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are so wrong. History reveals itself and the truth comes out over time, just like you all thought Clinton was all wonderful, well, other than being a pervert. Now all these dirty harmful things he did to this country are seeping out one by one, and the guy was a joke. You like to slam Bush, but the record shows he had employment in this country at an all time high. He had unemployment at an all time low. He had the stock market at an all time high. He freed and liberated not one country, but two. Millions of people are free because of him and his actions. Your leper in office now has balooned unemployment from 4 percent to over 10 percent and rising, and wait until they rescind the Bush tax cuts in 2010, millions more will lose their jobs when these idiots do this. Your leper in office now, has left our military waiting and waiting and waiting, as he will not give instruction on what to do with the plans they have given him, and this has been going on for months, while more and more are dying since he took over. He has the deadliest days we have had there, because of him and his cabinets indecision, and it is costing American lives. Its at the point in Afghanistan that now we need to pull out, as the new government has gone corrupt allready, and yet Barack wants to escalate it, ala Lyndon Johnson in Vietnam. But I thought he said he was going to end the war. Hmmm. Sounds like some more lies, again. But back to the point, George W. Bush, after times passes, will go down as the second greatest president next to Ronald Reagan. Watch and see.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Bebe – Not in defense of Clinton – He was weak and let the wrong head make his decision. However he did get involved with a consenting adult. Now how about all the Democrat and Republican pedophiles that only want to prey on underage children? What’s your excuse for them?
Are you able to even offer one logical excuse for anyone that is not a Democrat? Of course Fauxx told us that Mark Foley was a Democrat from Florida. Dumb me – I thought he was a Republican.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Any pedophile should be shot dead on site. Thats how I feel about that. If I catch one in the act, Im going to jail. Right or wrong, I catch someone molesting a kid, oh yeah, Im going nuts, he is going down, and Ill probably go to jail. But he wont do it again. Has nothing to do with politics. Has to do with good and evil, right and wrong.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And Clinton getting involved with a consenting adult? What about all the other crap. Like selling us down the road with NAFTA? Like letting the enemy blow up the World Trade Center basement? Like letting them blow up the USS Cole? Like letting them drag our dead through the streets of Somalia? Like being offered Bin Laden three times and not wanting to be bothered with it? Like cutting our military in half and our intelligence community in thirds, thus leaving us vulnerable to terrorists setting up shop over here and then peforming 9-11. And consenting or not consenting, it doesnt matter. He defiled the office of the highest level in the land. Thats what he thinks of this country. I guess you missed all that. While this “W” you hate, worked hard, kept us safe and finally went after these guys to stop them, and sacrificed his own popularity for what was right for the rest of us. Of course, you on the left dont understand that, because those on the left would never do this. They flow around on the wind of popularity. What ever is popular, do it. Doesnt matter if its wrong or right, if its popular, do it. Sorry, I dont agree with that mentality from the normal joe, let alone from our politicians who are elected TO REPRESENT US, not their own selfish interests.

Here lately a certain song has been playing on the Radio Station that I listen to. “HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN” I believe we all need a reminder sometimes, not just on 9/11.

With Obama’s reluctance to do anything about the situation, it just goes to prove he does not want to do anything that might involve ending this reign of terror that Bin Laden has inflicted on the U.S.

The Fort Hood(according to Obama) was not a terrorist. He refuses to use the word–TERRORIST> The US is falling more and more under the SHARIAH rule, thanks to this administration.

Obama is likely planning his own jihad, and it will be the deadliest
one that ever happened. Why won’t PEOPLE open their eyes and see just

Obama refuses to call them terrorists because he’s a Muslim at heart..

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Bush helped our economy dramatically. Lets compare. When he took over from Clinton, it was in the tank and going down. Immediately, he and his admin took steps and not only corrected it, they had employment at an all time high, unemployment at an alltime low, and the stock market at an all time high. Now you blame Bush for the economy, but Barack has taken 4 percent unemployment and turned it into 10 plus percent and rising. He hasnt corrrected anything, he is the one that has spiralled it out of control with all this tax monster baloney the democrats bring. You can either accept the truth, or keep your head in the sand. Because Bush brought us out of Clintons recession, and had it all flowing good, until the advent of Barack getting elected came about, and it went in the crapper, and your left wing boys havent been man enough like Bush was, to do the right things to correct the ship. No, they have compiled the problems. Its a fact, and you cannot realistically refute that. They have failed at everyturn, and dont blame Bush. Wait until your boys cancel the tax cuts in 2010, and millions more lose their jobs. You gonna blame Bush for that also? Unreal. Get a stinking life allready.

DeeD, unless they’ve made changes, Alaskan oil goes to Japan, not China. Of course, with this half-baked administration, it’s possible that Alaska oil may get shipped to China, Russia and/or Iran.
Comrade obama and his crew don’t seem to have much use for common sense. They’re probably allergic to it. As I recall, comrade obama thinks oil is ‘evil.’

I personally believe each and every administration has been in on every aspect of what we are yet to see and have to live with.
Look at what they done to the savior that GOD sent for our salvation. Is anything any different now or is HISTORY repeating itself?

I think having 11 months now, or a year, and taking unemployment from 4 percent to over 10 percent, to giving GM and Chryler billions of dollars because they dont know how to run a business, and to ensure future UAW votes, bet on that one, to trying to shove national health care down our throats, so that those that dont work can have health care, and those of us that work, can pay more for ours, plus pay for theirs. No, no lady. Ive given him a chance, and he blew it on every move. He doesnt know what to do on the war front. He doesnt know how to create business, as he is destroying many every day. Then GM in particular left the country to build and import their Geo line. Imports that Americans bought never realizing they were selling their jobs away.
So is it true Americans will buy anything anyone chooses to import to America?

In fact I have posted in previous posts I trust very few politicians and I do try to do homework and try to select one who sounds like they are willing to do something positive for our country and her citizens. I am not a party line loyalist by any stretch of imagination either. I refuse to allow the blind to lead me into hadies. • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Dee. Lets go back to the big three. For one, Ford didnt take any of this ill gotten money, only GM and Chrysler did. But to the point. Why is it that Japenese cars, such as Honda are doing good? If you want the truth, please listen. After the war, America rebuilt Japan, and taught them a valuable lesson. They were taught in business, if you build a quality product at a good price, people will want it. They listened. That why these vehicles go 3, 4 and 5 hundred thousand miles and more. Meanwhile, American vehicle builders, decided to make them cheaper, skimp on quality, and charge more for them. The corporate’s got greedy. The Unions went on strike and held them over a barrell until they got big money, which forced them to skimp on quality. So now they were producing junk, and hey, nobody wanted it anymore. They are junk. Now today they are finally getting better, but Dee, the Unions are terrible. I know, you see, I worked in them for 13 years, and the best thing I ever did was get out of them. I got tired of hearing “its not my job”, or “its break time”, and let parts go by without pieces being put on them that are supposed to be put on them. Ive seen lines run for 8 hours with everything being thrown away, because the guy wouldnt pull a piece of lint off the ink filter, because it’s “not my job”. They dont care. The company side is full of greed, the union side is full of greed, and its not good. How are you going to effectively run a company, when youve got a work force that basically can do whatever they want, and the company cant fire them for being a screw up, because the union has their back. I would never own a company like that. If a guy isnt doing his job, he needs to be let go for the betterment of everyone. With the union, you cant do this, and the guys know it, and they just dont care. Yeah, a few do, but they are attacked by their fellow union workers if they work to hard to do a good job for their company. I know, I was one of them. Sorry Dee, Ill take my Honda CRV over any American made car. But then again, my Honda is made right here in the United States, and if you want the truth, a lot of American cars have more foreign made parts on them, than the so called Japenese cars. Check it out, its all true.

Every one- Many refineries throughout America has been allowed to go to ruin and shut down. I hear Marathon has a few scattered around and still in operation. But the bulk are in Texas and being operated with illegal workers.
What has happened to the Indiana chicken farmer who proved cheap fuel could be produced with chicken dung?
Has anyone learned about the Chinese building vehicles that can run on H2O?
As far as honest and truthful and factual news sources go – today most outlets are owned by loyal party liners and we are told only what they want us to hear. If all citizens were able to have access to truthful facts it would put a real hurt on all that spew propaganda.

      • http://Yahoo Dee D

The little bit I have heard about the vehicles that can run on H2O.
Several have been built and are leased to a very special clientele with legal ramifications attached in the rental agreements to keep any and all from infringing on their invention and releasing any facts to the general public.
Before any of this information was released there were rumors being made public that the Governing body’s in power at the time were buying all rights to any and all right-of-way to sources of bodies of water here in the states. Control of so many feet on both sides of rivers, streams and oceans.
Just a spackling of news and then nothing concerning any of the mentioned items listed above.
Can anyone add any information to these claims?

        • golding4

anyone can build an HHO generator, you can get the plans on the internet, the man that ran his jeep all the way across a state on 1 gal of water and was murdered two weeks later managed to get the plans out first.

        • Prometheus

          DeeD,

I went on the intenet and most of these advisements proves to be a hoax. The ones that running these advertisements now have to put entertainment only, how ever the inventor of cold welding said he is running a car on pure water. He said there are several car companies seem interested, personally I think it is years down the road. These tales that these inventors invent carburators that can achive 180 to 200 miles a gallon and later on murdered because they wouldn’t sell their inventions to oil companies,is nothing but fabrication. The same for water. They always get murder or disappear.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Think about it. If China can do this, and the cars are reliable, they will be selling them all over the United States and making billions of dollars. There is no way, that if this were possible, that some big dollar business here would not get behind this and cash in.

      • Thurman Marcum

        DeeD,H2O

Yes they are.I have being saying that for the last five years, that they are running cars on water. It is true about chicken manure.A famer in northen Indiana was running his tractor on cow dung. That was in the newspaper thirty years ago.I know for a fact, you can with certain modifications to the carburetor you can actually use grain alcohol,in other words moonshine.

Kind of like the Democratic propaganda that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and MSNBC spewed out for 8 years, which obviously led to Obama getting elected. Yes, that is the sad power of propaganda. Change change change. Well, I and millions others do not like this change of us going down the toilet that these guys have brought upon us. They will all be gone in 2010 and 2012. Read em and weep.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Bebe – Propaganda and utter nonsense is being fed to every one of us on a daily basis, by any and all broadcasting outlets. I might add by all politicians who seem to be able to be voted into office every two and four years in all branches of our Democratic houses in Washington. How can this continue to happen election after election? Who’s willing to shoulder any responsibility for any and all of our messes?
NOT ME – YOU – NOT ME – NOT ME – NOT ME. But yet it continues election after election.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree. That’s why now, more than ever, it is pertinent that we vote out the incumbants in both parties, and send them the message, that we, the people, have the power, not them. Thats the only way a positive change is going to happen, if these guys know that if they dont do their jobs and represent us the people, they will be voted out and lose their jobs. The power is in our hands, and we need to use it. Get rid of these lifers like Dick Lugar, Evan Bayh, John McCain, Robert Byrd, Nancy Pelosi, Tom Dashscle and many many more. Lets please send the message this year.

      Dear Stan,

You are right not to trust information from anywhere, the WSJ, the DOE, OPEC, or investment writers (of which I am one).

But there is one place you can put your full faith — word on the street, in this case word on the market.

Look at how the price of oil is trending and you get an understanding of what the truth is. It is a million trades taking place every day with people, companies and corporations putting their money where their mouths are on the best, up to the minute information.

That is why the premise the Bakken formation has 1 to 2 trillion barrels of recoverable oil is outrageous. If such a discovery had happened as explained my some hucksters, than the price of crude would be at $12 per barrel and not touching on $80.

      Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving,

  • arise_kill_eat

Common sense; anti-corruption; anti-political correctness; anti-entitlement; work ethics; anti-greed; moral and personal resonsibility. These are the principles, if adhered to, that will save this country from an inevitable fall into chaos. If we do not start making sound choices, our very way of life as we know it now will soon be over. Should we as Americans be entitled to health care? I do NOT think so. You make decisions in your life that have consequences. You decide to not get an education so you can have a decent jobb why should the government reward that! You decide not to help your kids with homework they stay in poverty. You are lazy, suffer the consequences.
Greed, it’s the root of everything that wrong with America today. It breeds corruption. Greed to be powerfull. Greed to make the most money. Greed to be the most entitled.
Work ethics…..the future is NOT SO BRIGHT! The couch potato video game generation of children is upon us and growing rapidly.
Common sense, why is insider trading allowed in Congress? Why do we allow lobbyist? Why do we allow unlimited terms in Congress? Why do the people proposing this health care not want this health care for themselves?
Did you know that a Democracy…by its very nature, is destined to fail? Eventually a civilization will collapse under a Democracy because of greed, lack of personal resposibility and corruption. Follow me on this one if you will. Our leaders are elected by the people that have the most to lose. Corruption will infiltrate so that it ensures only candidates that will serve their interest will be elected. These leaders will “take care of” those that elected them. This will happen over and over and over…again and again. Our leaders give entitlements to our minority segments of the population as to give them hope and support. Eventually…these entitlements become a necessity because it breeds laziness. These minorities will have to have these to survive (or so they have become to believe). Eventually, these minorities will become the majority and will only elect those that will continue the entitlements. The greedy for power politicians understand this so they are hell bent on giving these entitlements (AS THIS KEEPS THEM IN POWER)This will eventually lead to our country going broke paying for all these entitlements. Well….eventually is HERE!!!!! I am a small fish in a big pond of greed, corruption and laziness. BUT, I do believe with common sense……making hard choices….and by pulling the “tit” out of all those mouths that are sucking this country dry…..we might have a chance to save a free democracy that has created the best country in the history of our civilization.

Now that those kookoid ‘scientists’ have been tossed out of their global warming closet [IN SPITE OF their abuse of freedom of information laws in TWO COUNTRIES], it should get interesting. Isn’t it heartwarming to know that these people are so “concerned” for our welfare that they will DO or SAY ANYTHING to get what they want?
The moral of the story is simple, folks. When a politician goes on a crusade to ‘save us from ourselves,’ it’s time to put him (and his chums) through a mental competence examination.
When that politician wants OUR money to ‘save us’ and make him FILTHY RICH at the same time, we belong in the same rubber room asylum if we’re STUPID ENOUGH to believe that twit.
Big Al should be forced to move to the North Pole, where he can protect polar bears, and PROVE his devotion to mama earth and that damned global warming LIE. The secret is finally OUT. • Richard

I’d like to just issue one small warning. Don’t take either science or the intellectuals that promote it too seriously when it comes to energy supplies and demand. Everything science will come up with will be very, very expensive. The question is not can science and technoloty generate new sources of energy, but rather, what alternative will be cheap enough that most people will be able to afford it—-on top of everything else going up from taxes to health insurance. The scientists and the government always imply they are smarter than us common folk and can help us to solve these huge challenges. But aren’t they the very ones, along with their brilliant lawyers that have brought us to the edge of bankruptcy? Our treasury is completely empty. And our debt is already over 12 trillion. I’m not sure I want any more solutions from science, technolgy, or the government. I live in Amish country. They only have horses to get around but get around pretty well just the same. Can you imagine where they would be today if they had listened to all the experts that are making our decisions for us?

    • DaveH

Imagine Richard, if most of those government bureaucrats were laid off and had to go to work actually producing something instead of hampering the production of others. Our economy would be so robust only the laziest non-workers could complain.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Imagine if they had to actually pay taxes, and pay for their health care, that might then get in touch with reality and see how it is for the working man. But they dont, and they dont care. As long as they get theirs, that seems to be their only concern. They pretty much have proven to not represent the people, only to represent their own selfish interests. Thats why Im sending the message in 2010 and 2012, and Im voting against ALL incumbants.

  • Joe

    Something to think about.
In 1977 I built carburetor parts for a guy who was getting 180 miles per gal. on a 600 HP motor at 70% load.
They, tried to buy his patends and shut him down. He wouldn’t sell so they, killed him.
What if all the US semi trucks that ave. 4 miles to a gal could get 20 miles to the gal, and they can.
They don’t cuz someone doesn’t want them to. Period.

    • DaveH

Joe, if that were true (I doubt it), the only way it could occur would be with the collusion of Government. If we want to get our freedom and our economy back we need to throw all the rascals who promote Big Government out of office and shrink the size of Government dramatically.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Im pretty sure if someone could do this, there would be someone with enough money to get behind them, and they would laugh all the way to the bank. Im pretty darn sure of it.

        • Jana

Don’t be too sure of it. We had a friend who did it and the oil company paid him several million dollars for his invention. He laughed all the way to the bank alright, but that was the end of it. they didn’t want this invention to get out to the public. We could sure use it now. Of course back then that was a lot of money for something like that.

The Greens are the next big threat to indivdual liberty. They are to the early 21st Century what the Communists were to the world 100 years earlier. For the Communists anything was a means to an end — all for the salvation of the proletariat. For the the Greens the same thing except they are for the salvation of the plants.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

The greens, tree huggers, environmentalist wackos, whatever you may want to call them, are indeed, a very dangerous lot, and very harmful to the United States of America. They are selfish and want their ideals pushed upon all of us, whether we agree or not. A powerful selfish lot they are.

The fact is that it does not matter who are what party is in power, because either way the one that is in power will still be looking out for himself and the people that elected him! So there will be a greed factor no matter what ok?

Tell them,Big Dog. The end is comming and everyone who wants to go to heaven better get saved before it is too late!

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Big Dog: Invest in gold? Can you eat gold? The best and most worthwhile investment anyone can make will be in land. That is until the powers that be take control of it.
With land we can go back to planting and canning goods we can eat to stay alive. Of course, I see things getting so bad that we will have to protect our crops with very high fences, which we will have to patrol and protect to be able to harvest the crops.
So few people have any knowledge of how to do the things our parents done and tried to teach us to do. Then there are the lazy, do nothings who will be willing to kill you and rob you of any thing you have stored for your salvation because they know nothing and are not willing to apply themselves to any work. They only want the handouts.
Things are going to get a lot worse for all of us before they can get any better. If ever they will get any better.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I dont like the idea of buying a bunch of gold, because whats it going to do? Give you status? Make you feel like your better than someone else? Make you rich? Who cares. For once I agree with you. Give me food and give me shelter, and Im a blessed man. I dont need to, or want to, be rich. If something happened that this ever came about, I would give most of it away anyhow. I dont need it or want it.

        • http://Yahoo Dee D

Right on Bebe – Does anyone know how hard it will be for a rich man to enter heaven? Let’s see, if I remember – it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it will be for a rich man to enter heaven.

        • DaveH

          Beberoni,
Gold has been a store of value for many centuries. But you don’t have to buy gold to protect your savings. There are many different hard assets that can accomplish that. But whatever the choice, if you don’t make an effort to protect your dollar-denominated savings, you will probably see their value shrink dramatically. With the rate at which the Government has been expanding the money supply, our dollars’ value is going to spiral downward. Protect yourself.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Your probably right Dave, you are a smart guy, Ive read your posts. But for what its worth, Ive just never been to enamored by wealth, whether it be paper money, gold, houses, cars or whatever. It just doesnt amount to a hill of beans to me. I came into this world with nothing, and Ill leave with nothing, so I really dont worry about this stuff at all. Last I looked, one out of one die. And you cant take it with you. And I am very blessed financially, but I could care less about it. I fully believe thats why God has given me what I have. He does say to put Him and His kingdom first, and all other things will be added to you. I try to do this. But money and such just dont matter to me. I have them today, they could be gone tomorrow, and not one iota of worrying is going to change a single thing. So I guess I just trust in Him, and that is where I seek my comfort from. Right or wrong, thats how I roll.

    http://www.democracydefined.org
this web site has two well documented articles on using hemp to solve the fuel crisis and to reduce global warming. Hemp is one of the easiest rapidly growing plants even on poor soil-you can read for yourself!
The crime is hiding behind the use of marijhuana.

    • Lena

I agree Phil! Hemp could be used to solve many of America’s problems but for some reason it is illegal to grow it. (This seems to be changing just this year but the DEA is doing it’s best to continue with zero tolerance.) I don’t understand why this is considering cigarettes (poison) is controlled by the government and sold not just to Americans but people all over the world for a highly profitable gain.
George Washington cultivated hemp on his own land! Hemp has been used since as far back as the Stone Age. It can be used to make paper (Yes! Instead of the rainforest!) It can be used to make clothing, biodegradable plastics, biofuels, food sources and it even requires fewer pestacides than most. More hemp is exported to the US than any other country. Why not grow their own? Oh yeah, because it is weed too? I mean men can go to bars, drink themselves into a stupor, recklessly drive home and beat their wives. Heaven forbid a guy should smoke a joint and chill out instead! That would be a big problem. Maybe it is because you think too much outside the box when you are high?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Amen Lena, you hit the nail on the head here. Alcohol is the worst drug on the market, and the most destructive. But it is socially accepted, because of the money involved. Remember when then tried prohibition? The government realized they not only couldnt stop it, but that they were losing out on a lot of tax revenue, so they legalized it. Today, marijuana being against the law, is a big business for lawyers and judges who make a mint defending dealers, and there is just a lot of cash involved with keeping it illegal, and a lot of under the table money being made. They dont realize that if it was legal, they would make so much more in taxes, and allthough I dont smoke the stuff, I have a full knowledge of it as I did smoke it up from the age of 16 to the age of 40 before I quit, not only because of the cost, but because I became a Christian and its against the law, and because I also now have a CDL license and am tested all the time, so I dont do it. But I have seen the ill effects of alcohol destroy families, marriages, relationships, jobs, business’s and many more bad things. Ive yet to see a pot smoker beat his wife because he was stoned, or beat the kids. Or spend the rent money to get high, like drunks do for alcohol. Ive not seen it make a guy not be able to get up in the morning and go to work thus losing his job because of doing this over and over. Ive never seen it make two guys get bold and fight because they are stoned. Just the opposite. But what you said is true about alcohol. It is the worst drug out there.

    Hello Denniso,
Partisan rant? Both parties are but two wings of the same ugly bird. Both Bush and Obama receive their directives from the CFR administration, (Do your research) who receive approval from The Trilateral Commission (Research again)…they work hand in hand. Realistically, neither the names nor the political parties are important since they have been controlled for decades by the same entity with the same agenda. The Government has, for years, been gradually shredding our Constitution since around 1913. It is now about to be amended out of existance by the present government, only at a more accelerated pace. The results of ‘our present day’ governmental decisions (Healthcare Reform) will mean unimaginable mass misery for the American people. Thus, this is the most destructive government in American Hisory, because it is transforming into Socialistically controlled regime at a more accelerated pace. If you really want to know what life is like under such tyranny, read any book, or google GULAG in the (then) USSR! You suggest looking within, well, the only ideal candidate I can (locate within) for leadership is Jesus Christ, and he is not running for office right now! Further,in trying to be honest with myself, I seek diligently for the truth, and within myself, I ask God to lead me to that truth. As for partisan affiliation, and if I were forced to choose, then it would probably be somewhere between Independent and Constitutional. That’s about as honest and personal as discretion will allow me.

    • Ray

“The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism—ownership of government by an individual, by a group, [read corporations and financial organizations],or by any other controlling private power.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1938

Fascists hate communism and accuse people of being communist or socialist as a means of denigrating their ideas.

      • DaveH

Have you ever known a company that can make you to buy their product? Only with the backing of Government force can they do that. Like the Cap and Trade Bill, or the Health Care Bill.
Our forefathers envisioned a government that existed only to protect us from the force of others. They were aware that the natural tendency of the Government was to grow itself. They wrote the Constitution in an effort to prevent that. But the Constitution will only restrain the aspirations of Big Government if the citizens make an effort to prevent that occurrence.

our author is about two months behind on his info on the bakken shale oil producing zone. the wells are drilled horizontilly several thousand feet, then packers [up to thirty]are set in stages,a sand water slurry is then pumped in at a very high pressure[8 to 9000 pounds p s i.which opens the formation to allow the crudeoil into the well bore there by getting the production up to 1500 bbl’s per day without pumping.

John Myers (the writer of the article we are commenting on) can probably give you a better answer as to where the larger US based wells & oil refineries are. As to their output potential…..well,let us know if you have any success at finding a good, reliable information source! I discovered the oil & energy issues via some other research into American Political History, and found, in following the money trail, that the oil & energy industries are very much politically connected. I cannot say whether the testament Lindsey Williams gave about Gull Island is credible, but he did seem sincere.

  • http://www.proudlymadeinamerica.com Mike

As I document on my website,ProudlyMadeInAmerica.com, developing these other technologies helps now, and will pay big dividends later. We might need to drill now to keep the imports down, but that is marginal.

The best thing you can do to help reduce the cost of oil is to by American. U.S. manufacturers are, on the average, 1/3 more energy efficient then Chinese manufacturers. In addition, transportation costs are much less.

Have a “Proudly Made In America Christmas” everyone.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Mike – I personally have boycotted buying imported goods and also voiced my concern to the managers, while refusing to patronize their establishments that only stocked imported junk.
There were not enough like me to put a dent in the whole process.
Look at Walmart today –They peddle junk from China. They negotiate contracts with American made suppliers to only sell to them and no other outlet. Their goal is to close all outlets that we consumers have bought from all our lives. K-Mart is their next goal to close down.
Now our fearless leaders in Washington reward our manufacturers for leaving our country for the cheaper labor while placing all the blame on the lazy workers and the Unions for all our problems.
No consumer will follow Walmart’s record and stop buying their junk.
1st – They were killing our pets with their harmful and contaminated
      imports.
2nd – They were killing our toddlers with lead painted junk.
3rd – They were selling contaminated health items to the adults in
      our country.
4th – They were selling contaminated formulas in the milk we were
      feeding our infants.
On and on – but still American consumers patronize and buy the imported junk. Is anyone willing to get an education and learn and try to turn the tide on all that is taking place?
Does anyone believe that if we leave the imported junk lay on the shelves that we will be sending the message to our manufacturers that we aren’t really as stupid as they think we are and maybe be willing to return to our shores to manufacture items we will buy?
Instead of supply and demand being the rule we can turn that around to Demand and supply.

      • DaveH

        Dee,
Our problems don’t stem from American buying choices. They stem from Government protection of Unions, Government stifling of business with burdensome regulations, Government draining of capital with high taxes, government subsidies to favored companies, and other such distortions of the marketplace by Big Government. How Big and how Intrusive does the Government have to get before most Americans wake up to the fact that Government is the Problem, not the Solution?
Our founders knew and they tried their level best to achieve freedom, even giving many of their lives in the process. Then they tried to guarantee that freedom from an overpowering Government with the Constitution. Unfortunately, succeeding generations of Americans grew spoiled and apathetic, thus allowing Government to grow into the Unconstitutional Behemoth it is today.
I will buy American, if Americans produce a good product at a decent price. I will not pay exorbitant prices for inferior products just to support the outlandish wages and poor workmanship by Union members.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

But you only tell half the story. While you are busy demonizing Walmart, you also conveniently forgot the rest of the story, much like a liberal with an agenda. You see Dee, Walmart also is the biggest seller of American made goods in the country. Just thought you might like to know that since you were presenting them as a seller of foreign items only. Present the whole story please. If you dont want to buy Chinese made things, by all means, dont buy them. But dont demonize Walmart for selling them. Add give them due respect by acknowledging they are the biggest seller of American made goods. Its so easy to attack someone these days, especially when only half the story gets told. Sounds eerily like our national news channels.

Galactic alignment is the primary culprit. The climate is EVER CHANGING and always will be!! Have you ever studied geology or climatology? Obviously not!! More carbon was spit into the atmosphere when Mount St. Helens blew than ALL vehicles have to date!!!Fires used to rage since no one was around to put them out. How much was fed into the atmosphere from that alone? Plants NEED CO2 folks!!! Hello!!!! ???? FEAR has and always will be the greatest motivator! Ever hear of “Misdirection”? Sheeple will flock to it like moths to a candle and with about the same basic results, i might add. Here is another absolute lie!! That gov’ts can SPEND their way out of debt!!! HELLO!!!???? Anyone home??? How absolutely absurd !!! Keynesian lies that suggest we can create $$$$ from nothing!!!!! Look where it has got us so far , this fiat lie!!!! If you want to do something worth doing, get Banks out of the US gov’t , all gov’ts actually. Like Rothschild said many, many years ago ” It doesn’t matter who the gov’t is, if i can control the $$$ i control the gov’t”

In 2012 will there be any room of the “ark” for me!

Only is your Savior is called Jesus Christ….He is the Ark of savety!

      • golding4

Only if you have Jesus Christ, the Coming King as Savior, He is your Ark….if you understand “Born again”

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

Larry – Kind of interesting you should mention the ark. The Ark was built by an uneducated common carpenter while the Titanic was built by the educated pro’s.
The Ark sailed while the Titanic sank.
Maybe a lesson here, but forgotten by many.
But an Ark will not save us because we will not be destroyed by water. The rainbow is the promise of that.
What will be our destruction is fire and brimstone raining from the heavens.
I’ve often wondered why the exploration of outer space was so important to our past and present (except to spy on all on the earth) administrations. I’ve often thought maybe the wealthy are perhaps looking for another planet that will sustain life hoping they may perhaps save the wealthy and elite in our society in our last days. They are now saying there has been water found on another planet (a life sustaining commodity all living creatures needs for survival).
They are not figuring into the equation that the outlying planets just may be the fire and brimstone that may be raining down on us.
Just something to think about and maybe for a few to laugh about.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

No Ark will ever be needed again. You see, when Noah landed the ark, God made a rainbow, and told Noah this is a sign of his convenant with man, that he will never again destroy the earth with water. So you dont need an ark. A firesuit might help, but not an ark.

  • Blue Eyed Indian

With your permission, I would like to address your opinions regarding your assessment of the Bakken formation and it’s ability to produce prolific quantities of light, sweet crude oil.

    1) Oil production from the Bakken formation in North Dakota and Eastern Montana is at 290,000 BBLS/day this month (Nov.2009) and from the Canadian portion of the Williston Basin the Bakken production is 50,000 BBls/day. Is this the “balony” you refer to when you estimate production at 225,000 BBL/day a decade from now?

    2) You state this is not an “elephant” field as in the Mid-East. However, the aerial extent of the continuous producing Bakken formation is some 25’000 square miles in North Dakota,Montana and Canada. It is arguably the largest continuous oil producing formation in the world.

    3) As a Geologist, you might know there are another 25 or so oil producing formations/horizons in the Williston Basin. Did you know that only four of these have thus far “tasted” the horizontal Bit? These four are the Bakken,Three Forks,Winnepegosis and Red River “B”. All are prolific oil producers. In time the other formations will be tested. Only the surface has been scratched in this prolific Basin.

    4) Currently, 68 Rigs are drilling in ND alone and the count is expected to reach 100 to 125 by mid-2010. With improved technology each Rig can now drill a 20,000 ft.(10,000 vertical-10,000 horizontal) in less than one month. The NDIC expects ND production to reach 350,000 BBL/day by the end of 2010. It is reasonable to expect production of 500,000 BBL/day or more by 2012 in ND alone. So much for Oildrum’s 10 year prediction.

    5) Greatly improved production techniques have increased Estimated Ultimate Recovery per well from 180,000 to 600 to 700,000 BBLS. So, the 4 billion BBL. recovery is grossly “misunderestimated”

One last point: T.Boone’s estimates are based on what is good for T.Boone and no one else!

People you MUST open your minds to some REAL FACTS:

    1) Alternative energy as an economic practicality is, at best, DECADES away. Windmills are currently expensive and inefficient. Solar energy is still not economically feasible except in very strict limited cases usually involving government subsidies paid for by guess who… you and I. And the jobs created by making this equipment??? FACT is they are almost wholly made overseas… not in the USA!

    2) In the interim, while these alternatives are developed, we must continue to be able to have sufficient energy sources to maintain our Country without slipping into a third world status. The BEST sources of this is DOMESTIC exploration and development as well as nuclear facilities and MODERN petroleum processing facilities (Are you aware of how long it has been since either new facilities have been built in the USA?????)

    3) We are at a crisis condition in the USA. We are losing jobs by the millions, mostly to overseas competition. If we don’t stop the scams about Global warming and stop all the new taxes on businesses, we will lose more millions of jobs in the USA! WE must use COMMON SENSE!

    4) We HAVE to stop the bleeding of the USA economy by naive Liberals. Our Country NEEDS jobs and energy!

  • Ron Jones

Too bad he didn’t read the book by the chaplin who was present during the Alaska Pipeline construction. More oil was discovered under just one island than exists in Saudi Arabia. Our gov’t. stopped production (Jimmy Carter at the time) and it could be recovered with ease. Someone wants us to waste our money on foreign oil.

Thank you Dee. I know we disagree a lot, but not this time. We are indeed a blessed nation, and in those time when it seems like we might be struggling or not have so much, all we need to do is look around, and most the time not to far, to see someone who has less than us. I am a blessed man, and I thank God for what I have. Give thanks, it is the right thing to do.

If you read the story of the pilgrims, because there was nothing for them here when they landed at Plymouth, they suffered greatly at first. Many died of starvation, exposure and illness. Governor Bradford decided they should all share the fruits of their labor so that everyone would benefit. It didn’t take long to see it didn’t work as those who were most productive decided they weren’t going to work any harder than the rest. They were once again in dire straits, so Governor Bradford abandoned the idea. From the first settlers of this country, it’s been proven that socialism doesn’t work. We need to tell the Feds to get out of our lives and let our economy alone. It will take care of itself as it always has.
We have much to be thankful for in this country. The poor among us still live better than those in third world countries. What I’m afraid of is that we are going inn that direction.

  • insideknowledge

Fraudulent voting (more votes than registered voters, phantom absentee ballots, etc) is actually much less of a problem than is illegal exclusion from a ballot. Franken and Lautenburg were illegally elected with the collusion of state officers and the courts, but far more politicians, like Kennedy, Kerry-Heinz, and O’Neil were illegally elected at one time or another because opponents were illegally excluded from the ballots.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

It was pretty much common knowledge that Kennedy had elections fixed in Massachusetts for years. People were afraid of him. His power was far reaching. Kerry gets elected all the time also, and it seems most people up there say there is no way they would vote for him, so something is rotten with him getting elected again and again. If people have half a brain up there, this is one incumbant that needs voted out immediately.

  • Claire

Happy Thanksgiving to everybody! I just heard that Lou Dobbs is considering running for Senator in New Jersey. That would be good. He does not need to be on Fox–this is better.

Many of us know global warming, swine flu and social health care are hoaxes.

What are we going to do about it? Don’t hand me that vote them out of office bull crap either. You know all of them are EVIL. THAT’S right all of them. They do not care for any of you. They do nothing but steal steal and f@#$%ing steal.

My idea is do away with government all together.. Not overthrow but get rid of this disease. We don’t need them . They are a waist of humanity. We need no presidents no senate or congress.Judges lawyers and law enforcement will be scrutinized to it’s fullest and should be hired soly on merit… Bring back public caning.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You have to have some kind of government, or you will have anarchy. It will be like the days of Mad Max, where you just take what you want and kill everyone. No, we have to have government, to run police forces and fire departments, and have some organization. Problem is, we need smaller government, not bigger, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger, and the democrats lead the way there. Obama’s job creations are all government jobs, just balooning it up, costing us tax payers more. Government is a neccessity, but it needs trimmed down. Yes, we need to vote out incumbants, who are all entrenced in the good old boys network and are owned by special interest groups. Put some need blood in there across the board, where they arent beholden to these special interest groups, or owned by them, and we just might see a difference. Or can both these parties and give the Libertarians a chance, and see what they can do.

  • kilrntex

Remember about a year ago when some goofyassed terrorist said that he was going to hit Washington,DC and “Amaze the World”? How do I get in touch with this guy? Is he in Obama’s cabinet now? Is that how they pay the terrorist off? Apparently it is, because we haven’t heard from any of them since a terrorist got elected POUSA. Go figure! It’s easier to destroy something from within, such as cancer. Can’t see it or smell it til it’s too late.

    • http://Yahoo Dee D

You are absolutely correct about being destroyed from within KILRNTEX -
But it started long before Obama was voted in as the President.
Sad thing about it, we voters play our roles also. Blind leading the blind. I just don’t think there will ever be enough or large enough of a group to really change any course of action. We fight each other, degrade each other, put each other down instead of trying to work together to come up with some worthwhile solutions to accomplish some good things for our country and all future generations.

      • Claire

You brought back thoughts from my mother. She used to always say “they” would get us from within. I can remember her saying this when I was a teenager, and that has been many years ago. And so help me, I have thought this for years. And it seems like it is happening more and more. You are right, it started way before Obama so we can’t place the blame on his shoulders. Right now he is being blamed for everything bad that happened 20 years ago.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

This terrorists are patient. While Clinton slept, they took all those years to set up 9-11 before they executed it. The Bush admin set up homeland security, and has thwarted many attempts, which have kept us safe. But Im afraid the current admin is sleeping again, and these guys are patiently setting up their next hit, and it probably wont happen until the next election, and of course, at that time, the left will blame whoever is in office for it. But these things they set up take time, and Bush stopped them for the time being. But Im sure they are setting up again, as the Obama admin is too busy apoligizing to the world, instead of standing up to them.

      • denniso

The hapless and criminal Bush/Cheny were in office for 8 months before 9/11 happened..what were they doing exactly to protect us?

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Oh. Rebuilding the military. Rebuilding the intelligence communities, since Bill Clinton cut them in half. Rebounding the economy from the recession Bill Clinton left us in. You know, if we would have gotten blown up in Barack’s first year, Id have had to blame the Bush admin for it. It takes years for these guys to set up shop. That is why we will be safe all through Obama’s 4 years, because the Bush admin wiped them out here in the U.S. They are starting over. But while the democrats sleep again, these guys are rebuilding their internal strike units, and they will hit again, and whomever is the next president will be in office when it happens, and dont forget to blame those in power now, as they are the ones that this is forming under. These guys built up their network in 8 years under Clinton, as he refused to do anything about them. Dont even try to blame that on Bush. At least he was man enough to strike back at them, and not do the democratic thing and curl up in the fetal position and cry for mommy. Gimme a break. Get educated you hate monger.

    • denniso

kilrntex…what an idiotic comment..you claim that Obama is a terrorist when it was Bush/Cheny that murdered maybe 100,000 iraqi civilians in an illegal war prompted by lies…women, children, babies, old men..you actually have the gall to call Obama, who is trying to clean up the mess, a terrorist!!What an unmitigated fool you must be!!

John Myers, please provide your reference for the statement, “Just one day after he reiterated [President Obama's] commitment to renewable fuels in his State of the Union address in January 2009, we were told that the president’s budget cuts would force layoffs at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.”

It was President Bush who made cuts to NREL shortly after his State of the Union speech in January, 2006.

    • Doug_Co

Hmmm, so I guess you aren’t going to give me evidence of your statement, are you John? Can anybody else give evidence of that statement coming from Obama? I know Bush did that but I want to see evidence that Obama did it. I’m trying to be objective here but can anybody show me where Obama did this?

      • Claire

Do not expect an answer to this question. There is only one mindset. And you know what it is.

        • Doug_Co

*sigh* I know, Claire. It’s like when the tobacco industry spewed lies about scientists finding ill effects from smoking. The industry didn’t dispute the science of the scientists, they instead attacked and attempted to discredit the scientists. AND the industry managed, somehow, to recruit others to support their cause by simply spreading uncertainty and doubt. Never mind the facts, just shoot the messenger.

The oil crisis is real. Canada, being our largest supplier and Alaska can be the 2 primary producers of the oil we need. I find it ironic that we want to depend on our enemies to supply us with some of the oil. The current paranoia around global warming is dumbfounding and unfounded. Al Gore is making multi millions of sollars off of this scam on the American people and the world. There are some 32,000 scientists who agree that global warming is in fact not occuring. The opposite will be true over the next decade. There will be a cooling not a warming. The E-mails found which add to the fraud, are further proof that the far-left liberal wackos are claiming the “sky if falling” again. All the left is good for is bastardizing America and all she stands for. Wake up American and get the Obama’a, Pelosi’s and reeds out of office. They are destroying our capatalistic way of life and pushing for ever-growing socialism. The trillions of dollars of debt this president has brought in less than 1 year is only aprecursor of what is to come. 14.2 trillion debt in 4 years. Some 38 trillion of debt in 10. This is funded debt. The unfunded debt will reach a staggering 106 trillion dollars in 20 years. How can this government think it can run health care when they have bakrupted Social security, medicare and medicaid. Also let’s not forget the losing Postal Service. Anyone who voted for this president has to be either liberal or clueless. Write your congressmen and kill this horrible health care legislation. This cannot pass the senate or all of us and our children and beyond will suffer the consequences of Bad healt care at a higher cost. Remember the rick cannot possibly pay for this. Every man woman and child will be paying high taxes to support it. Do you really want to pay anywhere for 8-15% more of your hard earned money to support illegals, abortion, people who do not want healthcare or even pay into it? Oh, yes 40% of the people who have handouts now will be given this for free. 60% will pay for another entitlement to those who produce nothing for this country.

After reading most of the comments here, it’s plain to see most of us are clueless about what the future holds for mankind, and about what to do about it regarding climate change & energy needs. If we allocated funds for research on solar energy and other renewable energy sources, also creating thousands of jobs in mass transit projects, instead of hundreds of billions sent to bail out dying, old school economic institutions, we’d be on a better path to sustainability…the future is bleak, unless we (meaning the entire planet) change our mentality towards consumption. More community thinking instead of “me first” attitude has to take shape.
