The Sins of the Mother

April 26, 2011 by

The Sins of the Mother

No one ever wrote it down; mostly because common decency dictates that it didn’t need to be written down. No matter what your objection to (insert name of political figure to whom you object here), their kids were always out of bounds. Granted, George W. Bush’s children’s antics were as hard to miss as — say — Secret Service agents trying to look innocuous while standing outside the same 7-Eleven where Jenna and Barbara were trying to pass themselves off as 25.

I expect it never occurred to anyone that the liberal element in this country would be so thoroughly consumed by their own rage that they would begin to verbally assault children. And yet, whether it’s Nina Totenberg using the taxpayer-funded airwaves to wish AIDS on Senator Jesse Helms’s grandchildren, or cartoonish depictions of the Bush daughters, welcome to open season on conservative’s children.

If you thought Totenberg’s comments crossed the border between indignation and indecency, let me quote no less a revered sage than Bachman Turner Overdrive:

“Baby, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet.”

Witness last Monday’s swan dive into the deep end of disgrace executed by Democrat-leaning blogsite Wonkette. While most of Wonkette’s material is fairly rote — the same dull-witted and spiteful drivel which passes for humor amongst a movement that considers Bill Maher funny — a piece by some low-level liberal called Jack Stuef has plumbed previously unexplored depths. The bizarre (even for a Democrat) rant, which carried the subheading “A Children’s Treasury of Trig (Palin) Crap on his Birthday,” is a few hundred words’ worth of unrepentant hatred, politically-motivated venom and unadulterated filth. And all of it is directed at that individual who is evidently viewed with fear and fury by the Democrat Party: Sarah Palin’s Down Syndrome-afflicted son, 3-year-old Trig.

Almost unbelievably, it took the better part of a week of constant outrage — although not from the corporate media, which didn’t think it was worth more than a brief mention — before the bottom-feeders at Wonkette finally deleted the posting. True to form, however, they took to Twitter in a series of remarks which made clear their utter lack of remorse:

We beat up on Sarah Palin’s craven use of her son as a POLITICAL PROP. Child protective services should take Trig away.”

Trig is a political prop? Was she supposed to lock him in a room in Wasilla with a few dozen cans of strained peas and condensed milk? “See you at the inauguration!”

Much of what comprised Stuef’s offal is so vile that I refuse to subject my fellow Bob Livingstonians to it. To give you a sense of the tone:

“”What’s (Trig) dreaming about? Nothing. He’s retarded…”

Evidently, that’s clever in Democrat circles. Stuef also resurrected the 2008 Democrat campaign saw of questioning Trig’s lineage, overtly implying Trig is a) Sarah Palin’s grandson, b) the victim of child abuse, and/or c) the product of incest between Todd and Bristol Palin.

Those of you who regularly peruse my production for the Personal Liberty Digest™ are already well aware that I, like most who ply the pundit’s trade, consider very little beyond the pale when it comes to skewering those who inhabit the halls of power. But there ought to be limits, people.

Somewhere beyond the breathtakingly inept President Barack Obama, but short his children, a line exists. Perhaps some of you might think less of me for my reluctance, but I’m not going to step on some kid’s neck just to knock the wind out of his or her parents. An examination of Wonkette’s repellent violation of Trig Palin reveals that the Democrats know no such border; or if they do, they have as much respect for it as they do for any border. (Look! An immigration policy joke!)

Wonkette is far from the only soldier in the liberal media elite’s battle for the hearts and minds of… some extremely ill-mannered and stupid people. Z-list “comedienne” Kathy Griffin has essentially built her public persona around a creepy obsession with the Palins. And let us not forget the creepy pseudo-reporter Joe McGinniss, who actually rented the house next door to the Palins so he could conduct an “immersive journalistic investigation.” (As opposed to: “stalk Palin like a deranged lunatic.”)

I’m still not going to make fun of the Obama daughters, if for no other reason than it seems wrong to pick on little kids. Someone ought to send the same message to the Democrats — although I suspect they wouldn’t listen.

The moraly insufficient liberals don’t understand why anyone would keep a “disabled” baby. To them it makes much more sense to dispose of it. Liberals couldn’t understand why Bristol Palin didn’t just kill her unborn child through abortion.

The truth of the matter is that Sarah Palin is the first “real” pro-life candidate that the Republicans have had on a national ticket in over 20 years, and liberals are in a rage over that. Instead of just paying lip service to the pro-life community, Palin would actually DO something about it. This has the liberal crowd freaking out, and they are obsessed with keeping her out of Washington. They have attacked her since day one because she scares the hell out of them, just as they have done with Michelle Bachmann, who by the way, may be the best choice on either side as a presidential candidate.

If you aren’t willing to teach 5 year old children how to put on a condom, then to liberals YOU are the devil. The liberal establishment absolutely HATE that Sarah Palin believes that people should be taught to wait for sex just like the Bible says. Liberals don’t like christians in general, but they REALLY don’t like a spirit-filled pentacostal christians like Palin.

It’s really enough to cause one to wonder a little about the sanity of Palin’s opposition. If Palin really is the idiot they keep making her out to be, why is it they feel they must make stuff up to generate attacks on her? Hate will make people do strange and desperate things, and yes, a fair amount of Palin’s attackers hate her.

Meanwhile, we sit and watch as those stories about Democratic corruption, elections violations, and misconduct get ignored outright.

    • Bert Cundle

JeffH: You Speak for Liberals… Beacuse you are one and realy know about us?

      • kodster5

No, Bert, he’s giving the reasons why Liberals revile Palin so much. From HIS perspective as a Liberal. In other words, he’s confirming Ben’s article about how liberals are such hypocrites.

This article and the comments remind me of what Jesus said in the Bible… that His followers (which “most” of the conservatives are, nowadays) would be hated for His name. Well, His Name is in the label of Christians, so we’re hated! And in today’s world, we’re the most reviled members of society, because we stand for righteousness, our God’s heart. That’s what the liberals (who don’t believe in God, but rather, follow the devil) hate about us.

        • Eddie47d

What do you call Christians who don’t follow that righteousness?Liberals follow the devil? I didn’t know Wiccans were liberals, conservatives or space aliens.

        • denniso

Liberals/Dems don’t ‘revile’ Palin,we just think she’s laughable and that it’s amazing a major party would fall so quickly for her…mayor of a tiny town, quits her governorship halfway through the term, shoots animals on camera for money/fun,whines about a ‘blood libel’ when she’s called on her violent language after the Gabrielle Giffords assasination attempt. Palin is a phoney who’s also not bright and has essentially no knowledge of national/international issues.

She would make a good girl scout leader or head of the PTA in Wassilla. She’s already taught her straying teenage daughter how to cash in on hypocrisy…shame.

          • JIBBS

Wow, like your boy obama knows anything about intenational affairs, unless you are referring to his bowing to kings. Stupid is, as stupid doe’s.

          • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Denniso… If we want to start talking about laughable politicians, we should start at the top. Barry sure has been a disappointment to the Dems, but he sure knew how to draw them in. He had no experience and was a nobody who had never did anything significant in his life and yet they made him a rock star. You talk about suckers!

          • JeffH

That’s the only thing I like about you denniso, you always confirm the obvious shortcomings of being a liberal.

          • Bud Tugly

Let’s face it, most politicians on both sides are laughable. They strut and posture. They talk the talk they think will arouse some voters based on their handlers ill-perceptions of public attitudes. They live for media exposure and photo ops that have little to do with their real activities. They create of themselves shallow characters from B-movies and foist this thin veneer of patriotism and respectability on the American people while stuffing their pockets and kissing up to whatever special interest is funding their campaign.

Remember the story of “The Emperor’s New Clothes”? Most politicians are just like the pompous naked ruler, so afraid of being perceived as stupid that they unknowingly flaunt their stupidity.

Be wary of politicians trying to get your support by talking the talk you want to hear. Look a little deeper and you are likely to find what the honest child in the fairy tale saw… a self serving buffoon.

Whether it’s Obama or Palin, Rohm Emanuel or Rand Paul, they are all selling snake oil. Buyer beware.

            You hate me
            A simple thing to say
            You hate me
            Simplistic in its own way
            You hate me
            I don’t know why
            You hate me
Is it better if I die?
            You hate me
            What did I do wrong?
            You hate me
Why did it take so long?
            You hate me
Not a question, its a fact
            You hate me
            A statement, true and exact
            You hate me
For what, I do not know
            You hate me
            As despair begins to show
            You hate me
Does it relieve the burden you bear?
            You hate me
Does it relieve you not to care?
            You hate me
One moment false, you moment true.
            You hate me
Does it bring happiness to you?
            You hate me
I guess I was right in the end
            You hate me
It’s a truth I cannot twist or bend
            You hate me
When I stare into a mirror
            You hate me
I see it all becoming clearer and clearer
            You hate me
            Just another aspect of you
            You hate me
But it doesn’t change that I don’t hate you

Spoken by someone who follows Obama.

        • Bert Cundle

Liberals will not, Condem anyone of their believings… { Liberals are OPEN MINDED!} In a persons make up… they maybe of 2 or more known structure belefs… The part that responds to anything in view, is often the most defensive. Christianity, today: is still the sheep following the wolf! The original Christianity… has not been perverted, to harbor people; it inlightens people! [ (1) Jesus: God with us! & (2) Christ: Anointed one!] 1. Congress / Jury, etc. ~ 2. President / Judge, etc. Christians of today are considered Dumb! All they have is commerotery. ( That is where they get the saved feeling!)

          • DaveH

Liberals are open-minded? Sure, Bert. They are just a bunch of sheeple who will follow anybody as long as they lead them to the trough. They are the quintessential pawns who enable the power-hungry leaders who will promise them anything to buy their ignorant votes.

          • independant thinker

A true liberal is open minded a political liberal is not generaly.

          • Kate8

            Open-minded, Bert? Now THAT’S laughable.

You embrace all things of a perverse nature, and have nothing but contempt for common decency and righteous values.

Since you profess to know about Christianity, the Bible does say that in these times, what was once called good will be called bad, and what was once called bad will be called good.

The Left is the tool of evil, always claiming to be for the underdog, the children, the poor, the deviant…while all the while simply using them all to gain power in order to enslave.

Which is the wolf in sheep’s clothing?

        • karolyn

Give me a break Kodster! Conservatives are not the only ones who are Christian! Roman Catholics ae Christian and I believe comprised of a high number of liberals. Christians are NOT being persecuted and are not so hated as you think. And, liberals are not all atheists!

          • Kate8

karolyn – You are correct. There are increasing numbers of liberal Christian factions.

However, these factions are regarded by true Christians as apostate.

          • karolyn

Kate – What gives anyone the right to say who a “true” Christian is? If a person believes himsef to be a Christian, then they are.

          • Kate8

karolyn – If you knew Christ’s teachings, you’d know the answer to that.

Yeshua told us to beware of false prophets, that “many will come in my name”, and to be vigilant and discerning, lest we be deceived.

He said we will “know them by their fruits”.

Yeshua instructed us to discern the true from the false. They either adhere to His teachings, or they don’t. People are led astray because they no longer study His Word.

          • 45caliber

            karolyn:

I agree with Kate8. Becoming a Christian is NOT believing you are one. It is accepting Christ as your Savior. If you don’t do that, then you aren’t anything in any religion, particularly a Christian.

Further, YOU must ask forgiveness for all sins and then attempt to sin no more. None of us are perfect but, with Christ’s help, we can do a lot better than we were doing before. And you attempt to live the way Jesus would have you to do – helping the poor, etc. and trying to show the right way to live to others, drawing them in turn to Christ. Not because you are trying to earn your way into His grace but because you want to be more like Him and give others the same chance He gave you.

YOU cannot make the determination; it requires Christ’s forgiveness of your sins and acceptance into His love. Just because you attempt to live as a Christian and believe you are one does not make you one. HE will forgive and accept you if you truly want to be a Christian in your heart.

          • 45caliber

            karolyn:

You say Christians are not being persecuted. What do you call what happens to the Christians in Africa and the Mid East when they are attacked, beaten, killed, and burned along with their churches?

What do you call those in the US who call for laws that forbid Christians from engaging in their religious beliefs as they have done here for two hundred years? If the government forbids the act of religious actions then is that NOT interferring in a religion? And, when they punish those who do it anyway, is that not also persecution?

          • Karolyn

OK, 45, I wasn’t thinking about other countries. I do not feel that Christians are persecuted in this country.

          • Kate8

karolyn – Then you aren’t paying attention.

Christians are being arrested for praying in public, being denied the right to raise and teach their children according to their faith, being forbidden to speak of Yeshua at gatherings, being fired from, or not hired for, jobs because of their faith…and many, many more examples of persecution right here in the US. And it’s happening more and more frequently.

Christianity is also being forced to take a back seat to Islam.

          • Robert Smith

From kate8: “Christians are being arrested for praying in public”

Yup, isn’t that where you try to FORCE your religion upon others? Stop that woman from going into a clinic, shun that dude in the bottomless chaps, prey over that ODed goof in th park…

Why do you need to envoke your god in public? Why do you need sound systems? Is your brutal god hard of hearing too? Must be all that fire and brimstone noise that did it.

If you want to prey go to your tax exempt house of worship and prey all you want.

Quit trying to force your religion upon the rest of us.

            Rob

          • denniso

Kate8 says that Christianity is being forced to take a back seat to Islam? In which country is that happening? Iran? Certainly not here. Something like 85% of the country is Christian. The ONLY proscription on Christianity is that it can’t be practiced out loud in a place funded by the public…just like all religions. That’s the issue Kate mentions as Christians being arrested, because they chose to pray out loud in a public place, not someone’s private home or church. We have separation of church and state, and that means no religion, even the dominant one,can practice using a publicly funded space. Any religious person can pray silently anywhere she wants, public or private, she just can’t make a public spectacle of religion in a public space.

It’s really funny that the dominant religion in this coountry plays the victim of ‘persecution’…funny and absurd.

      • JeffH

Bertie, and to think I thought bob wire was a bit off kilter sometimes.

        • Kate8

JeffH – The Lefties are coming unhinged.

It’s only a matter of time before they get enough rope to hang themselves. They already keep shooting themselves in the foot.

          • JeffH

Kate8, you’re right about the lefties being unhinged. This subject alone hit ‘em right between the eyes and as usual, they “hate” it…the truth that is. Just look at which liberal loons crawled out of the woodwork…speaks volumes.

          • Kate8

JeffH – I love your laser vision. When it comes to the Leftists, you zero right in on target!

    • Eddie47d

Jeff H. You speak evil of Obama on a regular basis so why are you upset that someone on the left says something about Palin? If you don’t like ugly politics then don’t lower yourself in doing the same. Set your own standards in politeness or political correctness. I also never heard of anyone telling Bristol to get an abortion. Is that another made up right wing story to stir up the passions or just some odd ball living in Podunk,s.d. trying to stir up trouble? This wonkette person was an individual blogger who thought he could say whatever he wanted to under the guise of free speech. You know, that 1st Amendment which is so important to us all. Months ago I said such a person should be censored and almost had my head bit off by you all. Someone called me a commie and said this person had every right to say what they did. Picking on anyone’s kids is just plain wrong but lo and behold both sides do it so lay off the nasty “liberal” diatribe. Ben kept saying Democrat which wasn’t proven so if a righty says something derogatory towards the left then that makes all Republicans evil, right?

      • JeffH

Sorry 47D if I hit a little to close to home for you. You just don’t get it do you? 1st Amendment? I said nothing about censuring free speech! I guess you’ve missed out on all of the lieral hate directed at Palin. Read up, it’ll enlighten you. Well, it should enlighten you if that’s possible.

        • Kate8

JeffH – It would be amusing to watch if it weren’t so sickening. That is, the way the liberals hurl every vile thing at anyone they can find to target (on the Right), while screaming “hate speech” at those who want O to verify his elegibility.

THEY are the ones who constantly try to find ways to censor those who oppose them. We say, let them speak. The more they do, the worse they show themselves to be. They condemn themselves by their own words.

          • JeffH

Kate8, free speech is the best and easiest way to expose these liberals. Lets them do their own damage.

      • 45caliber

        Eddie:

You seem to have overlooked something here. We aren’t talking about someone saying something bad about Palin. We are talking about someone saying something bad about her small son. BIG DIFFERENCE.

But your act is typical of liberal thought. If you can’t defend something, try to change the act to something you can defend.

        • Eddie47d

45; Obviously you didn’t read my reply very well and I was talking in generic terms about Palin vs Obama. Go read it again and get a grip on what I said about picking on kids. Jeff: Always the double talker on free speech like he invented it.LOL

          • Patty

Eddie – Palin is not setting policy after policy to destroy this country of which, most are unconstitutional.

          • Robert Smith

            Neither is Obama, patty.

The fact is that the economy was in the express lane into the dumper from the bush years. Obama stopped that.

BTW, how can you call anyone pro-life when folks are dying in America because the health care system is screwed up and you oppose reform?

            Rob

          • denniso

The rightwing is almost entirely hypocrital on the issue of ‘life’.
They claim to have such love for the unborn, even when the unborn is a week old embryo, yet they support any and all wars that wind up killing thousands or millions of babies, children, pregnant women, old men/women. They seem fine w/ the millions of babies/children in this country and billions in the world who struggle and die young and horribly because of a lack of money, food, education, medicene. They justify ignoring the plight of the poverty wracked children by saying that we shouldn’t ‘create a dependency culture’. What gives???

          • denniso

            ‘hypocritical’

    • Mike in MI

      JeffH -
Congratulations, Bro’, that point about Palin (actually both of those girls) driving Libs over the edge is perfect because, really, you’re Biblically accurate.
I Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Well, if you’re using the power, walking in the love and keeping your thoughts in order then you’ve got a sound (sane, healthy) mind.
Liberals on the other hand can’t have anything but an insane mind ’cause they don’t have that spiritual origin of sanity in operation. Besides that they despise God. So, He can’t help them. He says he’d like to but they reject Him in word and deed and purpose for being.
      Liberalism is a menal disease.

      • Bert Cundle

Bible Quoters… REMBER The Book was written by Idiots! You that Follow, are Imbisiles! They Thought the world was FLAT!!! One Area Flooded… Flooded Their Whole World! They Sacrificed Childreen to God,(Gods)Use the Bible Like It Should Be An Anchant Book of Barberism! Today they would surly be called CRAZY!!!

        • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Bert… You know not of what you speak.

          • denniso

It’s obvious and true that the bible was written by men(no women please)who were ignorant when compared to any modern 5th grader. The lack of knowledge of the world and cosmos is astounding to realize, yet the authors were likely smarter than most since most couldn’t even read or write. No one knew what the stars were, that the world was round, that we go around the sun, that the earth is 4 billion yrs old, that the sun is a star, that the earth rotates, why seasons ocurr, the depths of the ocean, how life evolved, etc, etc…

It’s therefore not surprising that the authors came up w/ fanciful myths to explain the world and human existence…they knew nothing else.

          • Robert Smith

Robin claims those of us who don’t follow the exploits of their gods (YES, gods) chapter and verse just don’t know about life.

Let’s see… Father, son, holey spirit? Looks to me like polytheism.

Knocked up young vergin Mary? Rapist.

            Flooded world? Brutal.

Tornados in southern America last week? Brutal.

I don’t like your version of the christian gods very much.

            Rob

          • Robert Smith

OH! And with that transsubstanciation thing the literal eating the flesh and drinking the blood…

            His followers are canabals.

That’s what we know about your god and his followers so far.

            Rob

          • denniso

The idea of eating the body of Jesus and drinking his blood does come from pagan religions way before Christianity. It was a sacrifice of the god,in human form, and the followers ate him and drank of his blood. The Christians used this and many other aspects of the pagan religions in order to get the pagans to join the new religion.

    • get right

JeffH, guess who made this statement. “not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs. I couldn’t talk about it.” She is admitting that she might not have been able to “embrace (love) a child with special needs. That quote comes right out of her own book. Quit trying to make her into some wonderful role model for women. Luckily most women her age are more responsible and don’t get pregant at that age.She admitted that she thought about abortion, but decided not to get one. You are getting the idea that she had a choice aren’t you? The only thing she is committed to is her own self interests. So yes, you may be right, the liberals act just like your little darling, the half governor, who is a quitter.

The joke about TRIG’s disability means he couldn’t possibly know how to dream…?

THAT’S NOT GOING AFTER SARAH PALIN….

THAT’S GOING AFTER THE CHILD !!! PLAIN & SIMPLE

I tell ya, the use of il-logic first by the SIT UBU SIT media, and now the compliant masses, is pathetically rampant.

And, to boot, people… I am not a Sarah Palin fan. As far as I’m concerned, she is one of them… by that, I mean she is a integral part of the CFR/Trilateral Plan and has joined up, for a chance at the dinner table.

There are many questions I would ask her about her home state.

First of which is … What Do You Know About HAARP?

Palin may have many good attributes. But, FULL disclosure certainly isn’t one of them. Even during the election, she could have been more forthcoming on what she saw McCain doing… She had the choice right there, to be more Reagan-esque, and chose the other path.

The Writer is correct – CHILDREN ARE OFF LIMITS.
If they aren’t…. Then, Reporter’s Families are an option, as well.

    YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE.

    • 45caliber

Anthony: I agree with you. This is an attack on Trig. But – like Eddie above – when confronted with the attack on him, they immediately try to make it an attack on her. They aren’t attacking her although they might be hurting her feelings about him; they are making the attack on the child. Then they try to justify it by insisting they really aren’t attacking him – and get violently angry if someone tries to do the same on their hero’s children – which is also wrong.

Children should be left out of it all. They aren’t the ones doing anything right or wrong in politics.

      • Eddie47d

As I said go and reread what I said. Jeff is the one who brought up mother Palin so you seem to be the one who is confused.

    • get right

Anthony, You can’t have it both ways. Keep them out of the spot light. Sarah pulled those children out of school to join her on the election trail. Her younest daughter, stated to ,Greta , that she got really behind in her school work during the time they were following their mother all over the country. She exposed those kids to the horrors of politics and then got mad when people made comments about her stupid decision to haul them on stage at every chance she had. When you put your children out there, they will be targets. She is not the angel, that you all like to think she is.

    • Robert Smith

From Anthony: “CHILDREN ARE OFF LIMITS.”

Not when they are brought onto the political stage and held up to show people how “moral” the parent is.

They use ‘em to make their case, others use ‘em to make their case.

Besides the right is always showing pictures of what they call “babys” scaring little kids.

      Rob

  • karolyn

There will always be jerks on every side. We don’t need to acknowledge them to give them more power. Just don’t read or listen to them. I think Cathy Griffin is a supreme a-hole.

    • kodster5

I don’t even watch anything that has Kathy Griffin in it, on it, etc. She hosted the New York City New Year’s Eve ball drop a couple of years ago, and I was so disgusted with her, I turned it off, and went to bed! It’s funny… comedians like her, Bill Maher, Karen Garafoli, and the likes… totally turn me off, and I don’t watch their shows, or anything connected to them. Same with Sean Penn, Barbra Streisand (and I used to be a HUGE fan of hers), etc… I am not interested in watching them any more. When I became a born-again pentecostal Christian (just like Sarah Palin!), 12 years ago, I suddenly didn’t like listening to their drivel and stands. I guess that would be the Holy Spirit speaking through me.

The only thing different between Sarah Palin and I, really, is that I am an Independent, not a Republican. I don’t stand for what the Republican party believes in, because they are conservative versions of the Democrats, in my opinion.

      • Carlucci

I know -! I wish people like Barbra Streisand, Bono, and others like them would just stick to what they do best – entertain. I could care less about their commie viewpoints. I still listen to Streisand sometimes, but mostly it’s vintage stuff like “Color Me Barbra”, and
Je m’appelle Barbra. Her Broadway albums are great, too.

What I can’t figure out is that most of these people like her grew up very poor. Her parents couldn’t even afford to get her a doll when she was little. You would think that these people would grow up to be the ultimate capitalists…but they turn into commies.

        • libertytrain

Carlucci – they live like “capitalists” but preach like “commies” = do as I say not as I do.

          • Carlucci

you got it. I wonder if they know how foolish and hypocritical they are.

          • libertytrain

I don’t know – one would have to be almost blind not to see how ridiculous they are – kind of like Gore. The ultimate bozo.

        • denniso

Entertainers like Streisand don’t turn into ‘commies’,instead they come to see that many people live such lives of poverty and want that they know they should help change things for the better…that is not being a ‘commie’. It is more like being a deciple of Jesus who told his followers to give away their wealth and help the poor and ill.

          • get right

denniso, since you are well read, maybe you know,Amnrose Bierce’s quote of: “Corporations: an ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility”. Do you think the repubs can give anymore power to the corps, that they don’t already have? Florida is now allowing “leadership funds” (cash money) to be given directly to our legislators. No limits or restrictions. Talk about buying politicians….

          • get right

oops typo error, it is Ambrose Bierce.

          • denniso

No I hadn’t heard the quote, but I like it and of course it’s true. Repubs and their pawns are doing all they can to turn the country into a corporate oligarchy, and they won’t ever rest in that mission. They think of corporate business people as gods, people who know better and have a ‘divine’ right to rule over the rabble.

    • Kate8

karolyn – That is always the standard answer of the Left. EVERYONE DOES IT.

NO THEY DON’T. You RARELY see that kind of vile, below-the-belt attack from someone on the Right, because we have standards of right and wrong.

It is a tactic of the Left to engage in this kind of assault and then hurl accusations of ‘hate speech’, comparing their rhetoric with some policy dispute.

We’re just not buying into it anymore.

      • karolyn

Kate – There are numerous right-wing talk show hosts on small stations that are not nationally broadcast who use that type of humor. We have one on our local radio station; there were two on a show where I come from in NJ; and I would imagine they are all over the country on local shows. It’s all about audience.

        • Kate8

karolyn – Really? Give me an example of something they’ve said.

Conservatives generally abhor anything crass, crude, or in any way distasteful as a tenet of ideology. We believe that it’s wrong to slander (this does not include exposing the truth), and don’t attack people’s families.

Give me some real equivalent samples.

          • Karolyn

Well, Kate, I haven’t listened to them in such a long time; however, I do remember the couple in NJ always talking about “trailer trash and knocking NASCAR, and, yes, they were conservatives.

          • Kate8

Knocking NASCAR? Aren’t NASCAR people mostly conservative?

As for trailer trash, oooooooooooooooooooooh. How hateful! Hide the kids!

Is that the best you could come up with? Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Good grief. Besides, there’s a vast chasm between talking generally about a political group and targeting children.

      • Robert Smith

Ohhhhhh Kate8: “We’re just not buying into it anymore.”

Really… Why don’t you explain that to your buddy samurai.

        Rob

  • Carlucci

you got it, karolyn. I can’t stand Ms. Griffin either – she’s an insipid boor, just like Bill Maher.

Anyone who would target and pick on an innocent disabled child is sick.
If those people at Wonkette think they are being amusing, they are sorely mistaken; they are simply showing the world that they have a raging case of sfb.

    • Eddie47d

Howard Stern is the “adult” version in some of his pathetic “humor”.

      • karolyn

Some years ago I was addicted to Howard Stern. I “got” his humor. There was a lot he did on the show that I didn’t agree with; however, I found him to be honest and just giving his audience what they wanted. He is an extremely intelligent man and has an interesting life story – growing up Jewish in a black neighborhood.

        • Kate8

There were a few times when I was forced to hear Howard Stern on someone else’s radio. I thought he was crude, rude and disgusting. Not to mention completely devoid of human respect and utterly obscene.

Yet, the Left likes this stuff, and claim it’s free speech.

At the same time, anyone who mentions God, Yeshua or Christianity gets censored. That is no longer free speech.

          Seriously twisted.

          • Kate8

Oh, I forgot. Incorrect speech now also includes patriotic speech or talking about the Constitution.

          • denniso

Liberals like Stern? None that I know like him. He is making money appealing to people who like crude and offensive ‘humor’,and not many liberals like that…rather it’s more a trait of rightwing, rednecks, hillbillies, monstor truck rallyers.

  • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Attacking children in any way, shape, or form is bullying at its worse. In our society, a man is not much of a man if he hits a woman. One who writes lies or preys on children’s short-comings through the written word is even less than human. And those who read this trash and find humor or are in agreement with the writer fall into the same slime boat. How sick!

    • Robert Smith

That’s exactly what the anti-abortion yahoos are doing. They are using “children” (if you believe them) for their political agendas.

      Rob

  • Tim L.

I fully agree that children should be exempt from the hatred and filth that is thrown by both sides. Unfortunately, leading by example and civility are not traits that are easily found in our politically, polarized world, especially among republicans.

    • Vigilant

      Tim L.

What a totally asinine statement. Using a horrific and all-too-typical case of leftist indecency to try to turn the subject onto the Republicans.

No sir, the Democrats and socialists (one and the same, actually) have pretty much cornered the market on violence, disrespect for traditional institutions and indecency. It’s a sign of their desperation, now that the public is finally realizing how bankrupt are the policies of this administration.

You fool no one, with the possible exception of yourself. Your Alinsky ploy of attempting to divert the discussion with bogus statements shows the poverty of your logic.

We all know (or most of us decent folks anyway) there is a line you draw, ya don’t attack innocent children just to get at they’re parents in the political realm,. Especially those that are touched._All I gotta say “WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND” They WILL will get they’re JUST reward. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but they will reap what they sow._

    • Eddie47d

I said the same thing about the Republicans when they lost to Obama. They acted like they won and went on the attack like the election wasn’t even over. Everyone has a hard time getting over losses and too may plot revenge with a fury.

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

Funny though eddie, I never saw the repubs throw a piss fit, and leave the state, when Obama care was passed, like the Libs did in Wisconsin, but thats different cuz its your side, isn’t it?

        • Eddie47d

Maybe they left because the Republican Governor was wrong in his tactics and they knew they were being manipulated by the Koch’s who were defending their investments in Wisconsin. (Corporate shenanigans). Also that had nothing to do with Obamacare which the Republicans have boycotted and have tried to destroy from the beginning. You know as well as I do that both sides fight over what they think is right for the American people. It’s not always in our favor but I shudder at the thought of being like Argentina or Zimbabwe. That is why I am hopeful no matter which side get’s into office for they do balance our system out. (some might say they are all unbalanced)!

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

eddie my boy, you just keep thinkin that!

          • JeffH

Angel Wannabe, ever notice that the liberals never take responsibility for their actions and always place the blame elsewhere, even if they have to fabricate it?

          • Vigilant

“Maybe they left because the Republican Governor was wrong in his tactics and they knew they were being manipulated by the Koch’s who were defending their investments in Wisconsin. (Corporate shenanigans).”

Yes, Eddie, our Republic was established so that any time politicians disagree with the tactics of the opposition, they are free to abandon the system. Thus, another hallmark of the left: you don’t need to obey the law or honor the democratic basis upon which this government was founded. You sabotage the very system you’ve sworn to uphold.

Instead of working to change things legally, DISrespect for the rule of law is supreme amongst those skunks and weasels who left the scene in WI. The fact that you would, for even a moment, try to justify the wrongful acts of these democrat provocateurs, is unconscionable.

You may be a citizen of theis great nation, but you are not an American, in the highest meaning of that word.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

Jeff, the libs never have taken responsibility for anything, they even deny the destruction, they’re idiot leaders are doing to America.

          • Kate8

            Well said, Vigilant.

          • JeffH

Vigilant, you really shouldn’t confuse a liberal with facts, it spoils their point of blame and their excuses.

Robin from Arcadia, he gets them from is favorite environmental extremist and liberal websites.

          • carl

Vigilant, Democrats NEVER take the oath of office. They cross their fingers (like little children do) and, under their breath, add “as long as it serves my purpose. If I don’t get my way, then to hell with the Constitution.”

          • Eddie47d

How can you so glibly say,”Gov. Walker was wrong.” when the danged state is facing a foreclosure notice? What side was it that set up the illogical, immoral, incontrovertibly ignorant financial chaos of union pensions that can NOT be paid-up, paid-off or paid-out?
When you own a business you MUST know where your liabilities and income statements (not hopeful projections) turn to the benefit of the (responsible – know what that is?) business owner. The “break even point” can not be a guess or a “pie-in-the-sky Obama-will-fund-me” hopeful haven. The responsible party HAS TO K-N-O-W.
With government it’s the other way around. Government that lets its spending over-reach the earning power of the citizens is absolutely going into Mr. Crapper’s invention.
Problem is that since the Legislators represent the populace the populace can not reneg once the legislators pass impossible edicts.
Somebody’s gotta pay up to the point the creditor’s are contracted for. HAVE YOU ANY COMPREHENSION OF WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT?
GOV. WALKER IS TRYING TO CORRECT THE POLICIES PREVIOUS LEGISLATORS (fiscally insane law makers) have set up.
SOMETIMES, Sometimes reasonable people find out what has been done in their name: and they say, “HELL, NO-O-O-O!!! STOP! Nobody can ever pay charges this large.”

This kind of bottom feeding internet meda and “comedians” like Maher and Griffin who think it is funny to deride the chldren of public figures are nothing more than barnyard animals suffering a terminal case of hoof in mouth disease. Children of political figures of any persuasion should be off limits for this kind of derision.

    • Vigilant

These “comedians” would not be successful unless they had an audience. And what is the makeup of that audience? The typical liberal.

People who find that kind of “humor” funny are the same people who have experienced arrested mental development. The “shock” humor, the bathroom humor, the “retard” humor were traditionally enjoyed by the adolescents of this world. Most of us matured, grew up, and learned to enjoy the more subtle humor that required some intelligence and appreciation for the nuanced joke.

Liberals never got past the mental age of 14 or 15. Winston Churchill has been cited with saying “If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.”

      • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Vigilant… Great post. You said it well!

      • kodster5

Amen to that, Brother! I DO appreciate the ironic satire, over the outright childish humor these comedians spew. Whenever I hear them, I think about how adolescent they are.

      • independant thinker

I saw Maher on Jay Leno a little while back and even Jay was not laughing at his “jokes”.

You will also notice that Liberals tend to elect young men and women to high office. That is because these people reflect their youthful but unrealistic idealism, as yet wholly untempered by wisdom.

Look what happens when you are led by children.

      • Vigilant

        Robin and JeffH, thank you.

It has occurred to me why the mentally arrested enjoy that “humor” so much. They are so completely ignorant of the truth of current events, history, and other disciplines that they couldn’t understand or relate to real humor. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to enjoy good humor, just have an average IQ and know a little about your world.

Sadly, most libs fail one or both tests.

    • get right

Carlucci, you mean like Glenn Beck?

  • H. Kirk Rainer

I am not sure of the words (or expressed attitude) of a particular political party in regard to children, their welfare; but with the spotlight on our nation’s children, the ills and imposed limitations (present and future) have nothing to do with political movements.

Just consider what these future generations have been given–of what has been taken from them. Consider the overt decline in national sovereignty, educational performance, marriage & family, financial solvency, and even the basic right to life for the unborn. Couple such conditions (against citizens) with autrocities committed against children in the wake of wars….

The societal woes passed on to these next generations are a reflection of much more than a political party. Dietrich Bonhoeffer described it so aptly “The ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children.”

    • kodster5

Sheesh… if we let these liberals have their way? There would be no children to pass our debts to! They’d abort our next generation, if they could. They don’t even have the common sense to think that if they want to limit our reproduction of our children, by aborting, or staying with one-child families, like China has for decades, that our debt would never be paid off… it would perpetuate, and continue to multiply.

And, if they had their way, they’d eventually would kill themselves off, because by the time they realized that there weren’t enough people of reproductive age to have more children, they’d die off.

      • Eddie47d

Liberals hardly force abortion on anyone. Individuals in America can make up their own minds on that issue. Unlike in China where it is mandatory. To be as ugly and mean as you;we could say conservatives want populations to explode so we can all be like Mexico City or Bangladesh where everyone is impoverished and fighting for a living.

        • DaveH

The population density of Mexico City has little to do with their bad economy.
Mexico city’s population density is about 8400 persons per square kilometer.
Sydney’s (Austalia) population density is about 8800 persons per square kilometer. Yet Sydney has a robust economy. Why is that? Less Government is why.
See here for the different countries ranked by their Government’s economic interference (pick the country names for the particulars):

“Liberals hardly force abortion on anyone. Individuals in America can make up their own minds on that issue.”

It’s a pity that individuals in America would have no say in the government funding that very act, if liberals have their way.

          • GregS

Well said, Vigilant! It’s bad enough that they (the liberals) got Roe v. Wade. Now they want to cram abortion down the throat of EVERY taxpayer in the country through ObummerCare and extensive Planned Parenthood funding!

Birth control prevents abortions. Why aren’t you repubs adopting all those kids in orphanges? You want to force women to have children they don’t want, then come up with a plan for all you radicals to support and love them. get right says:

“Why aren’t you repubs adopting all those kids in orphanges?”

Virtually all the children in orphanages are there because of events that occurred later in their lives AFTER they were born (e.g. loss of their parents, child abuse, etc.). They were “wanted” when they were born. Otherwise, they’d have been aborted! Abortion has been legal in this country since 1973. It has NEVER addressed the issue of children in orphanages, and it NEVER will!

            get right says:

“You want to force women to have children they don’t want, then come up with a plan for all you radicals to support and love them.”

There IS a plan: It’s called adoption! There are waiting lists for couples to adopt newborn infants.

            get right says:

“…check how many Christian women are having abortions. Yes, white, Christian women who sit beside you in church are getting abortions… here is site giving you the statics on abortions…60% white women? Check out the religious stats…”

Abortion is the taking of a human life! Who cares what religion, race, or political party is involved? It’s WRONG, regardless of any of those factors. It appears that YOU are the only one concerned about who has an abortion, since YOU are the only one who’s mentioned it in this thread!

Furthermore, the woman is the second victim of every abortion, since, in many instances, she is under extreme pressure from others around her to have that abortion. The abortionist is the murderer, NOT the woman!

          • eyeswideopen

Greg, please check the amount of children in those wonderful places. Must be the repubs only love babies and not the rest of the unloved, unwanted. Do a little research on the adoption system.

          • GregS

Eyes, you’ve missed the point, and your post has absolutely NOTHING to do with what we’ve been discussing in this thread (i.e. abortion). Instead, it seems that you’ve gone off on a tangent about orphanages in general. As I stated previously, abortion has NEVER addressed the issue of orphanages, and it NEVER will, since, by definition, the children, who are there, are those who were “wanted” when they were born. Otherwise, they’d have been aborted! What part of that don’t you understand? Despite the legalization of abortion in 1973, we still have over-crowded orphanages with all those “unloved, unwanted” children in them.

            BTW, in your accusation above:

“Must be the repubs only love babies and not the rest of the unloved, unwanted.”

Where’s your proof that Democrats have any more “love” for the “rest of the unloved, unwanted,” than Republicans??? Or maybe you’re just exempting Democrats from this whole issue. I don’t see large numbers of Democrats rushing out to these orpanages and adopting those children. Furthermore, I’m sure that there are just as many Democrats who prefer to adopt newborns and infants, as there are Republicans. Your attempt to make a political party issue out of this is ludicrous!

Proof that Dems care more for the unloved and unwanted children? All you have to do is look at the policies they favor that try to help children in poor and single parent families. If the Repubs had their way they would allow more babies and children to live on the streets and in shelters. Pull yourself up by your boot straps, they would yell,at children in poverty and living w/ single mothers.

The deluded Repubs somehow believe that ‘everyone can make it’,no matter what kind of life they are born into or how they are raised.
It’s the single biggest myth in our capitalist system, and no matter how many times the myth is proved false and dangerous, the ideologically pure Repubs continue to believe, like it’s a divine truth from God. Unbelievable how dense and incapable of learning most rightwingers are,but I should realize by now that it seems to be a fact.

          • GregS

            denniso says:

“All you have to do is look at the policies they favor that try to help children in poor and single parent families.”

Denniso, when it comes to tangents, you’re worse than eyeswideopen! In fact you take first prize! We were talking about the adoption preference for newborns and infants vs older children in orphanages, NOT about “children in poor and single parent families!”

You need to take your mindless rants and name-calling elsewhere!

          • denniso

Why don’t you chill out? The point is that Repubs are against essentially any programs that help children or their parents to support them in a more human way. Repubs don’t really care about other people’s kids or kids stuck in orphanages, because the kids don’t belong to them. Any empathy Repubs have for children stops at the front door of their own home.

          • GregS

            denniso says:

“The point is that Repubs are against essentially any programs that help children or their parents to support them in a more human way.”

Denniso, your comments STILL have absolutely NOTHING to do with what was being talked about in this thread. Go back and read the thread!

I strongly suspect that you were trying to change the subject in an effort to focus attention away from the ludicrous statements that get right and eyeswideopen were making.

Glenn Beck’s rant on the Obama children also fit this disgusting sort of behavior. Unfortunately neither side is immune when it comes to poor taste and a total lack of class.

    • Vigilant

“Unfortunately neither side is immune when it comes to poor taste and a total lack of class.”

I beg to differ. The right has a lot more class than the left. The left suffers from that TOTAL lack of it.

Beck apologized for his comments. Snowballs will freeze in Hell when
Jack Stuef, Griffin or Maher ever apologize for the excrement they spread.

      • Eddie47d

Glenn Beck says allot of things he should apologize for,but doesn’t.That’s the style of most commentators or shock jocks.

        • Vigilant

I repeat, “Snowballs will freeze in Hell when
Jack Stuef, Griffin or Maher ever apologize for the excrement they spread.”

        • Kate8

I didn’t hear Beck’s comments, but I have a hard time imagining that they even came close to the attacks on Palin’s children.

He apologizes for things I don’t feel he should apologize for. He does what many conservatives do: bow to Leftist intimidation out of fear.

Someone please enlighten me as to exactly what Beck said.

          • JeffH

Kate8, Beck mocked Malia Obama over a comment,”Did you plug the hole yet, Daddy?”, that the POTUS said using his daughter’s comment as an example. Of course the leftists took full hypocritical advantage of the situation.
            http://politics.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978266266

          • Kate8

JeffH – Yes, I did hear that one, but I didn’t exactly regard it as demeaning!

Good grief! That IS something an innocent child might say, and it was meant to make a point about O, himself. In no way could that have reflected badly on a child!

Sorry, but I see no comparison here.

          • Kate8

JeffH – BTW, Thinking back, didn’t O report that his daughter had said that to him? Wasn’t he just trying to endear himself to his worshippers, making light in a devastating crisis?

          • JeffH

Kate8, yeah, Obama said his daughter asked the question while he was shaving. You know that it was more than likely another Obama lie.

          • libertytrain

Kate8 – if that’s what they are comparing to what the left said about Palin’s baby…that’s just plain stupid. I remember Obama making the comment about what his daughter said as well. Hardly controversial and certainly not an attack on his daughter.

          • JeffH

Kate8, you’re absolutly right. There is no comparison whatsoever yet the media screamed for Beck’s head(what else is new)and Beck took the high road and apologized anyway.

        • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Eddie47d… I have watched Glenn Beck often and I do not recall him saying hateful things about politicians children. If apologized for what he said, then he must have, but his claim to fame is not this type of behavior. Journalism was once a professional occupation, but attacks made on children has made it far from anything professional.

          • Kate8

Speaking of Beck, I was just listening to him spout off about the violence on our border, and telling we “birthers” that we are making ourselves look ridiculous for worrying about the BC when violence is happening!

I got so mad I turned him off. He just lost me as a viewer.

We are either a nation of Law or we are not. If this issue is not important, then I guess we are not.

Perhaps he should look at how having a foreign agent as POTUS has exacerbated the border violence, and is brewing escalating violence around America. Maybe if we had a POTUS who honored our Constitution, we’d have a better chance of restoring order.

This stance of his on this issue, and a few others, has caused me to really question his motives.

          • Kate8

BTW, It’s not just Beck. I’ve noticed as the BC issue has been finding its way into the news, more and more leading conservative voices have been backing away from it, including Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and many talkshow hosts.

            Scary.

          • Carlucci

Glenn Beck lost all credibility with me when he sabotaged Debra Medina, our Libertarian candidate for Texas governor. Glenn Beck is a rino loving a** kisser. Can’t stand the man.

          • Kate8

Carlucci – I was upset with him over the Medina incident, too. That was inexcusable.

He’s becoming too much of an apologist for me. If, on being US citizens, we ask that our top executive obey the Law and reveal who he is, instead of spending millions of OUR money to hide his past…if that makes us look ‘ridiculous’, then I guess there’s no much else to say. Our Republic is no more.

The media has created a ‘virtual reality’ situation, where up is down and black is white, what we see is false and what we are told is true, even if it isn’t.

            God help us.

There is a huge moral difference here Ben..
Well lets call it the lack of morals and ethics from the left.
I think by now we all can see just how truly disgusting the left and their media is… And I have to agree with you, we do not need to lower ourselves to their level of scum sucking bottom feeders. Their intentions are to divide us and to make every effort that they can to show the world that we are the issue not themselves.

    Note to Ben Crystal -

Please quit confusing Obama’s and the libs’ evil agendas with ineptitude. That misunderstanding of what Americans are up against only encourages the good people of this country to continue their slumber.

I only wish it WERE ineptitude that motivates the left, rather than the utter destruction of the greatest nation the world has ever known.

    • kodster5

Steve, Ben is only pointing out the level of which liberals will stoop to tear down their opponents. It is a form of abuse to tear down someone’s self-esteem by attacking what is dearest to them. Only a weakling will do that.

We all know what motivates the left… and that is the utter destruction of our nation, so that we can be assimilated into the One World Government that all of us despise. That is the reason why our nation is the greatest nation in the world… and why every other nation despises us. They want us to be like them, and we don’t want to go, quietly, into the night.

      • denniso

Whay can’t you guys think straight? ‘Utter destruction of the country’??? What president got us into this mess? Who started, didn’t pay for and didn’t finish 2 wars? Wich president presided over the greatest economic collapse in 80 yrs? Which president pushed through a trillion $ drug plan that again wasn’t paid for? Which president and which party pushed though tax cuts for the wealthiest people in the history of the world, the only group of people who are not struggling in the recession, and again didn’t pay for it?

Obama is trying to save the very system that your infamous leaders have trashed, all in the interest of drowning gov’t,and all you and your gurus like Limbaugh can do is bitch and toss out insane conspiracy theories. If everyone pulled together to support the recovery efforts we would already have a healthy economy, but of course that wouldn’t help the Repubs in the next election, which is really all they care about.

        • JeffH

          • JDM

          • JeffH

JDM, are you bringing the crackers to go with denisso’s whine and cheese?

        • DaveH

“Whay” can’t you think straight, Dumniso?
Bush was gone over two years ago. And Obama could have easily pulled out of both wars. Instead he has us involved in a third.
Just how long do we have to wait for Obama to fix things?

Tax cuts for the Wealthiest People? You mean those 1% that pay 38% of the income taxes? So if I knock you down and then put my hand out to pick you back up, I’d be a good guy in your Liberal mind? The Government isn’t giving them a tax “cut”. The Government is just stealing less of their money. Bear in mind that whenever their companies get burdened with more taxes, they either raise their prices, lay people off, go out of business, or move to another country. So the consumers lose. Who gains? Government leaders of course.

We have given your Liberal Leader two years so far to put up or shut up. He’s still talking, just like his Liberal enabler, Dumniso.

          • JIBBS

I thought he said if elected, we would pull out right away….hmmm, but then again lobama said alot of things. I’m Still waiting for him to deliver on just one.

        • Matt Newell

You’ve asked a few questions here — let’s see if I can give some answers.

          1) What president got us into this mess?
Wilson would be the answer although you want it to be Bush.

          2) Who started, didn’t pay for and didn’t finish 2 wars?
You are trying to say Bush, but he got Congress to accept the two wars. Then the liberals (democrats) fought tooth and nail to make sure we lost those wars (as they have done since the Korean War) so they could can their guys elected as antiwar patriots.

          3) Which president presided over the greatest economic collapse in 80 yrs? Surprisingly it is Obama. Again you want it to be Bush, but the collapse was increased by the liberal ideas forced through congress by the democrats as laws.

          4) Which president pushed through a trillion $ drug plan that again wasn’t paid for?
Actually, it was set up to use competition between providers to hold down expenses and is the only government plan which actually worked (although it still costs it is less than anticipated). If the democratic plan had been used we would be trillions more in debt than we now are.

          5) Which president and which party pushed though tax cuts for the wealthiest people in the history of the world, the only group of people who are not struggling in the recession, and again didn’t pay for it? Your answer would be the rich, but the question you don’t ask is “Which group produces the most jobs (if left alone by the government)?” And you get the same answer. The last part of your question makes no sense — how can you pay for a tax cut? A tax cut means you KEEP money you earned, while a tax means the government TAKES money you earned.

You make the following statement: “Obama is trying to save the very system that your infamous leaders have trashed, all in the interest of drowning gov’t, and all you and your gurus like Limbaugh can do is bitch and toss out insane conspiracy theories.” I love the way he is trying to save us: taking over private companies, taking over banks, stopping any programs that would help the economy, forcing Obamacare on everyone (whether they want it or not), etc.

your statement “If everyone pulled together to support the recovery efforts we would already have a healthy economy, but of course that wouldn’t help the Repubs in the next election, which is really all they care about.” is full of holes. Obama is the biggest retard to the recovery. His plans are the only ones he will acknowledge and he will not listen to any other ideas. What you are saying is we should all bow down to the know it all and quite fighting for what we believe in. Even if we did we would NOT have a healthy economy because socialism has NEVER worked in the history of mankind. Each party is looking to the next election so the last part of the statement is a falsehood.

          • DaveH

Actually, it was Lincoln who was the first to implement the Hamiltonian dream of Big Centralized Government, and the resultant Mercantilism and Empire Building that accompanies it.

I respectfully disagree Kod. You needn’t defend Ben to me – I’m not attacking him. Merely pointing out that by referring to Obama, or any of the other leftist cannibals as “inept” is to obfuscate reality and soften the volume of the needed wake-up call.

Certain it is that leftists are too inept to hold real jobs or produce anything but vitriol – yet equally certain is it that they are masters at playing the cards they have learned will cause the most harm to America. They are not at all “inept” at that game – for proof of that, one needs only to become aware of our accelerating decent into the abyss of collectivist statism- read “cannibalism”. Characterizing the left as inept, rather than the envious destroyers they are encourages America to slumber on.

Understand the difference between jealousy and envy as the first step. Jealousy is wanting that which belongs to another – normally a harmless enough emotion- rather an honest emotion, actually. ENVY on the other hand, is not wanting for one’s self that which belongs to another – but wanting that other person to not have that which is his. THIS is the root of all evil.

        • denniso

You people are clueless. All societies have rules, and modern industrial societies are very complex and have many rules, like it or not. All liberals want and are willing to fight for is a society that works best for the largest number of citizens possible, rather than one in which the vast majority struggle to stay alive and find decent jobs, and the top 10% live literally like kings. Gov’t and unions are the only mechanisms that can counter the tendency of the rich and powerful to consolidate wealth and control at the top.

          • steve

          • DaveH

There are two kinds of Liberals — those in the Political Class, and their ignorant followers.
Those like Dumniso would have you believe that the first kind are just trying to help their followers, but they only do that long enough to buy their votes. The truth is that the Bigger Government gets, the poorer the citizens get. We have seen that throughout history. If Dumniso really wanted to help the poor, he would not be touting the Class Envy politics that he touts. He doesn’t want to help the poor. Dumniso wants only to help himself; that is all.

          • DaveH

So when Government raises their taxes or the Unions raise their wages, Dumniso, who do you think really pays?
The rest of us pay, of course, through higher product prices. The product prices go up directly by virtue of the higher Union Wages, lesser Union productivity, and by the higher costs imposed as a result of Government regulatory meddling.
And we can purchase fewer goods because we have less money to spend due to the higher taxes we pay.
We always end up paying higher taxes when the Liberals pursue their Class Envy, because the rich just don’t have big enough incomes to pay for the profligate spending of Liberals, even if they were taxed 100% of their incomes.

          • Robin from Arcadia, IN

denniso.. You are the clueless one sweetie… Since you are on this website and your eyes are still not opened to what is happening around you, you may not ever get it. It will sink in one day, but I fear when that day comes it will be too late.

          • 45caliber

            DaveH:

“We always end up paying higher taxes when the Liberals pursue their Class Envy, because the rich just don’t have big enough incomes to pay for the profligate spending of Liberals, even if they were taxed 100% of their incomes.”

And as you say, it isn’t just class envy for the rich – it is for everyone who works for a livnig and refuses to give the liberals all the money they feel they deserve.

          • 45caliber

            denniso:

Government and unions do not “counter” the rich gaining control – they simply provide a better way for those people to retain control and seperate you from your money. The poor have no say in the way a government or a union is organized and run but the rich do. Do you believe that the RICH liberals in Congress are going to set up laws that will force them to pay more taxes? I will be willing to bet that any law they pass wil have adequate loopholes to insure they pay less tax than you do. If you believe that this isn’t true, then there is absolutely no chance for you; you have bought into the myth that they want you to believe.

          • denniso

OK DaveH, why don’t you explain to the sheep how things worked during the Clinton yrs? Higher taxes, good economy and balanced the budget w/a surplus, until Bush got in.

All you care about are cheap products, and hoarding your own money, while the society crumbles around you. Surely you’ve read about Henry Ford and the criticism he got from his own class, when he raised the wages of his workers above a poverty wage. He responded by
saying that if the workers made enough money then they could become customers for the cars they were building. It worked…you can’t have a consumer based society function very well, even for the wealthy,if most of the workers can’t afford to stay alive and buy products as well. You should know that, but your greed must blind you to the truth.

          • JIBBS

Are you really that stupid? or did you go to school?

          • DaveH

Clinton didn’t balance the budget, Dumniso. He was there. That was all:
            http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=5656

          • DaveH

And this has to be the most ignorant statement from Dumniso yet — “All you care about are cheap products, and hoarding your own money, while the society crumbles around you”
I won’t even bother to address that, Dumniso, because the only ones, who couldn’t see how ridiculous your statement is, are in grammar school.

          • DaveH

            Robin,
Denniso’s eyes are purposely shut because he is one of the takers. Why else would he try so hard to mislead people?

          • denniso

If Clinton didn’t help balance the budget and produce a surplus, and was only there at the time, then I guess you would say that Obama is only here now and has nothing to do w/ the budget defit?

          • GregS

            denniso says:

“…why don’t you explain to the sheep how things worked during the Clinton yrs?”

            1. He signed the repeal of the Glass-Stegall Act.

            2. He pressured Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ease credit requirements in order to increase property ownership for low-income people.

It’s well documented that these are two of the biggest factors, which started the financial crisis!

          • denniso

Get real. The economy was good and the budget balanced under Clinton. What ever he did or didn’t do was 8 yrs before the crash,so you want to believe that neither Bush nor the Repub congress couldn’t adjust or change anything to avoid the collapse in the 6 yrs of total control and 8 yrs of presidential control of the economic strings?

You rightwingers are laughable in your denial of any responsibility for anything that goes wrong, while you all rant about personal responsibility…what a total joke w/ a lack of any reason or rational thinking.

          • GregS

denniso, BIG DEAL that “the economy was good and the budget balanced under Clinton!” There were many people involved with the financial crisis, but the fact still remains that Clinton started it!

Furthermore, as I’ve told you before in the past, denniso, there were several attempts by the Republicans to prevent the meltdown, but they were all thwarted by the Democrats, especially by those who had ties to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

One last thing, denniso: You talk about “denial.” That’s YOUR middle name!

          • denniso

Big deal that we had 8 yrs of a sound economy resulting in a balanced budget??? Tell that to the millions of struggling, unemployed people now…We also had no major wars under Clinton.

And whose ‘fact’ are you reciting? Glen Beck’s,Limbaugh’s? The Repubs had total control of gov’t for 6 yrs under Bush, and you’re telling me they couldn’t do anything to head off the collapse? Give me a freaking break! To believe that you would have to think that Dodd and Frank are all powerful gods who can do absolutely anything they want, whether their party is in power or not. Ridiculous! Take your partisan blinders off, please.

          • GregS

            denniso says:

“And whose ‘fact’ are you reciting?”

The “fact” that Clinton started the financial meltdown belongs to no one. It’s simply the result of the two other facts, which I mentioned prveiously:

            1. He signed the repeal of the Glass-Stegall Act.

            2. He pressured Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ease credit requirements in order to increase property ownership for low-income people.

Since these were two of the biggest factors, which started the financial crisis, that puts him in the position of having started the ball rolling, big time! If you can’t see this, then YOU, denniso, are the one who needs to “take your partisan blinders off!”

steve; You say leftists “can’t hold jobs or produce anything”.Yet the right continually cannibalizes Bill Gates when he helped create millions of jobs. You envious hypocrites who talk through both ends.If it wasn’t for the Bill Gates you wouldn’t even be here blogging your nonsense. You say leftists “want what is produced by others”, then you go on and do the usual union bashing. You can’t stand that unions have negotiated contracts that pay them more than you so you become “envious” again and want to tear them down to your level. Conservatives always say if you don’t like your low paying job then go out and find a better one and quite complaining. So when you go out and get a better paying union job they attack you again and say you have no right to that job. Damn hypocrites!! I think the real goal of the right is to keep folks poor and stupid so they don’t have to pay them anything.

          • Vigilant

“I think the real goal of the right is to keep folks poor and stupid so they don’t have to pay them anything.”

Eddie, you have really short-circuited this time. It’s the leftists idea of big government that seeks to keep everyone poor.

It’s the right that believes in that concept called “equal opportunity,” and the left that believes in “equal outcomes” regardless of talent, intelligence or work ethic.

I know history is the most inconvenient truth of all for the leftists, but just once answer the question, “which economic system, capitalism or socialism, has resulted in the greatest good for the greatest number?”

If you answer “socialism,” then there is indeed no hope for you. And your postings will be relegated to the status of “unsubstantiated nonsense.”

Over 40 percent of the nation’s population are on government assistance
and The vast majority are voting leftist..only to protect their bennies.

Many are minorities and poor whites……no motivation to find work or
improve their lifestyles except to deal drugs or steal other people’s
            property.

This is your pool of voters. Do you really if they get cleaned up, find jobs, legal citizenship, or move to where the jobs are?

I think not. Your voter base is doomed to a permanent under class
and your leaders could care less.

Your group is permanently duped and it would take a massive reeducation and waking up to know what realities you face.

Stop blaming past presidential administrations for your woes and
accept responsibility for lazy behaviors. Get reading the constitution and behind Ron Paul because the left/right paradigm

          • karolyn

Jibbs – How do you know there are no conservatives on welfare? Got stats or have you done a study to back that up? If your answer is that it’s common knowledge, common knowledge is not always right. Especially in today’s day and age with so many suffering, you think that there are no conservatives using whatever help they can get to keep from starving? People are people and like to eat.

          • Kate8

karolyn – Okay. Maybe there are a few conservatives on welfare. I couldn’t say for sure. I would venture a guess that the numbers would be considerably smaller than the liberals, and most likely very temporary situations.

The thing is, karolyn, that conservatives do not support politicians who promise entitlements, so I would guess that, generally, they don’t partake in them. Entitlements are the tools of socialists.

improve their lifestyles except to deal drugs or steal other people’s
            property.”

The reason they turn only to dealing drugs or stealing other people’s property is because they would lose those bennies if they found some honest way of getting more money. So they turn to crime to get the money so it won’t impact those bennies.

Sadly, once everything goes away, they will have only one skill to survive – rob and kill others.

          • steve

            Eddie47 -

Back to the drawing board for you – or maybe a kindergarten reading primer. I did not say that you pukes want what is produced by others. In fact, quite the opposite is what I said. I would respect so honest a motivation as jealousy.

You don’t want what others produce – you just don’t want producers to have or enjoy what they produce. You don’t want their production – you just want them to have it. Being unable to produce, you wish for others to be prevented from producing.Being unable to enjoy, you wish others to be prevented from enjoyment.Being unable to love, you wish others to be prevented from loving. Being sick, you wish others to be prevented from being healthy. You are content only when feeding on your fellow man. Cannibalism is too harsh a word, so we will call it Socialism. Socialism sounds friendly doesn’t it?

This IS the definition of Envy – which is the basis of any phony cause the lib-tards push. “We are afraid of guns (and the ability they give others to protect their property and lives) – so we can’t allow others to own them.” That is what you would say if you had an honest bone in your bodies.

          • steve

            Correction:

“You don’t want their production – you just want them to have it.”

should read – “You don’t want their production – you just don’t want them to have it.”

          • JIBBS

Karolyn, how many liberals go on welfare and make it a career, then pass it down to their kids?, how many conservatives condone welfare? White/black/ brown on the left say that we need more welfare entitlements, while those of us on the right(pay for welfare) are trying to stop this type of BS. I sorry, but if you don’t want to work, starve. I used to work with a guy from Jamaica, and thats where I learned the line…no work, no eat.
Why should I pay for someone’s housing, cell phone, food, car, medical when they sit at home and watch tv, buy new cars and go out for lunch…mention work and then they feel sick. I know several people who live by this rule, and think it’s owed to them, as well s the place I work in and deliver to. Ask them why they don’t work and they say, “I’ll lose my rent, medical and wont be able to pay my bills, or this is the best line. What if I lose my job?, how will I pay my bills?”….WTF, if I lose my job,I have to find a new one!!!
The right to pursue, life, liberty, and happieness….don’t want to pursue it, then starve! The government has never given me anything, except a tax bill with a due date! and the debt they created as a stick in the eye.

The main reason the liberals make personal attacks on people they disllike is because the facts don’t fit them and they know it. The ONLY way they can justify their positions is by personal attacks. So they develop that the best way they can.

The funniest liberal I’ve seen was a radio announcer who would have “the question of the day”. When someone called in with a different opinion it was an immediate personal attack. But on one question of the day, a policeman called in and corrected him – and he didn’t dare make a personal attack for fear the cop would make a point of arresting him. I laughed for hours over that.

      • Vigilant

The hypocrisy of the liberals is astounding. Their infantile grasp of history is something to behold.

Tell me, TV producers started pushing the envelope with regard to the propriety of subject treatment on the airwaves, was that a liberal or conservative move? When Jerry Springer treated us to the worst in human nature, was that a restatement of traditional values? Did “Married with Children,” “The Simpsons” or “Southpark” extol the virtues of the family?

When “comedians” like Howard Stern started using totally disgusting “humor” in public, and lyricists enjoined us to kill policemen and disrespect women, would you call those liberal or conservative actions?

When you attend a Tea Party rally and then go to WI to see the raucous, disrespectful mob, what sort of comparison do you make between liberal and conservative mindsets?

Were the Chicago riots during the Democratic Convention spurred by conservatives? Was Bill Ayers, as he bombed his targets, ruminating about the virtues of our Republican form of government?
Who hoots conservatives off stage at universities, and which university professors mark down a student or stifle the free exchange of ideas if those ideas happen to be conservative?

Do you find conservative tree-huggers driving nails into trees to maim or kill those who would harvest those trees? How about the greenies who have burned SUVs in dealer lots?

Don’t, for the life of you, bring up the wanton acts of the lone wolves such as Timothy McVeigh, or the wackos that assassinate abortion clinic doctors. They were certifiably unbalanced, and were roundly (and rightly) condemned by conservatives. And don’t refer to GWB’s shameful hijacking of the conservative cause to replace it with a “NeoCon” label. That action too was roundly (and rightly) condemned by conservatives.

The coarsening of the national discourse and the disrespect for rule of law had its genesis in liberal pressures, not conservative.

The hypocrisy of the left is such that when some commentators use the time-honored tactics of the left, the left suddenly cries “foul!” and feigns a high dudgeon over the “incivility” of the right. It’s like the schoolyard bully who agitates and agitates, until the victim finally lashes out and whips his adversary. The liberal reaction? Blame the victim for the violence, not the bully.

We’re talking about personal attacks in politics, though you did put together a strong list of extremist rightwing actions. Television shows are all about money, something most Americans know about. Most liberals don’t watch those shows and would agree that they are lowbrow at best…but they are on TV because they make money, which is what our country is based on more than anything else, including God. What would you do,censor everything you don’t like, whether a majority of the undereducated and often rightwing viewers like it or not?
You want to place blame on something then look at our money driven system that pushes absolutely anything that generates money.

“What would you do,censor everything you don’t like…?” No, idiot, and that’s not the thread of conversation. Remember, it’s the left that seeks to make inroads vis-a-vis destroying our freedoms (including freedom of speech).

So they attack everything they can think of that relates to her in the hope the attacks will scare others away from her. She can’t be second guessed as easily as others so they don’t want her to be in a position where they might need to second guess her to stay ahead of her. The only thing they really know is that she doesn’t agree with the things they want themselfs. And that terrifies them.

EXACTLY 45, Palin conveys her convictions & beliefs without a word, and the Libs know it. If we as Conservatives can sense her strength & realism, so can the Libs. Like I said, to the Libs, thats a threat.

    • Eddie47d

Caliber; Too many on here have wished disaster on Obama and far worse. You’ve been on this site long enough to know that.

  • JeffH

If anyoneone wants to look deep enough, you’ll find Obama partly responsible for declaring “open season” on kids and especially kids with mental and physical deficiencies.

Remember his “off color” comment when he was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He compared his bowling to being in the “Special Olympics”! Sound innocent enough if you are a liberal but I guess the liberals thought it some kind of a code to authorize their low life attacks on Palin and her family.

A few people, very few, were quick to dismiss what he said with, “Get over it! Stop being so sensitive.” Many more admit to the insensitivity of the comment but don’t believe he was being malicious at all (just talking without his teleprompter for the first time! Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!).

Malicious or simply insensitive, Obama’s “joke” just illustrates the mindset that many liberals in our culture possess.

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

      Well said Jeffh!

  • JeffH

Long-time White House reporter Carl Cannon “bluntly declared that the political press gave Sarah Palin a raw deal in the 2008 campaign, and seriously failed to scrutinize Joe Biden, especially his fact-mangling and odd statements in the vice presidential debate.”

The political left made the most vicious attacks against Sarah Palin and her family from the moment she appeared on the national scene. Almost everything the establishment media said about Palin was either slander or tawdry innuendo. From Andrew Sullivan promoting conspiracy theories about how her daughter (not Palin) delivered the baby, to David Letterman ‘joking’ about Palin’s 14-year-old daughter having sex with a baseball player. Maureen Dowd said, “Caribou Barbie is one nutty puppy.” You can find more examples of the left’s nonstop hatred and character assassination, including the recent hit piece in Vanity Fair.

Sarah Palin is essentially a middle-class, down to earth, tell it like it is person who reflects real America. She can shoot a gun, is married to a blue-collar worker, can raise multiple children, is pro-life, and can still climb to the governorship of a state. She managed to beat well-funded Alaskan politicians despite not having family connections and great wealth. That certainly takes some degree of smarts and natural talent.

An honest person from Middle America who believes in God, guns, and glory is about as threatening to a secular statist as you can get. The entrenched elite will always attack that kind of authenticity.

You have the gall to call me a mental midget, when you can’t even distinguish between people who do real work and those who don’t. If I were to run upstairs, wake you up in the middle of the night and say, ‘John, is Sarah Palin really the woman to lead us through the next four, eight years? Through the next 9/11 attack?’” ―David Letterman, grilling John McCain about whether Palin is really qualified for the job (Source)

    20. “I don’t believe she’s ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president. And so that raised some question in my mind as to the judgment that Sen. McCain made.” ―Colin Powell, endorsing Barack Obama for president (Source)

Turns out the only true thing about ‘Joe the Plumber’ is ‘the.’” He’s the Sarah Palin of plumbing, is what he is.” ―Jimmy Kimmel (Read more Palin jokes)

    22. “In Alaska, a political activist is trying to get Sarah Palin to release over 1,000 e-mails that she’s withholding from public records. She won’t release them. Yeah. Obama children are not protected by the President, as far as we know, from paying off the massive debt that he and his Administration created and refuses to stop making worse by his spending.

Therefore it is completely proper to ask the question, “Has the President and his Administration spoken to their children about their children’s role in paying off the debt, and if so, what did they tell the children?”

I wonder now if the rightwing ‘birthers’ will drop their stupid ranting about Obama’s birthplace? The ‘long form’ certificate says exactly the same thing that the earlier released short form says…born in Hawaii!

Now the rightwing can focus on other lies and myths about Obama.

      • eyeswideopen

denniso, are you kidding? The birthers are racists. His color didn’t change. You are such the optimist.lmao.

        • denniso

You’re probably right, but I have a hard time believing that we have 45% of the population who are racists…I hope not. Maybe some of the ‘birthers’ are just joining in for political reasons and are not racist.

The rightwing loonies will now go after his supposedly bad grades in college or his religion, trying to make an issue out of the lie that he’s a Muslim. Take care eyes.

          • JimH

Maybe it’s it took 2.5 years to counterfeit the document that makes us “right wing loonies” suspicious.
Because Obama is a part of the Chicago Dem machine the doctor that signed the false document wasn’t bribed. He was probably threatened or coerced into it. That IS the Chicago way.
Did you ever stop to think that we are the normal ones and that you are left wing LOONIES.
A normal rational person would appear that way to a left wing LOONIE.

          • denniso

Like so many other rightwingers you’re sounding paranoid and delusional. Obama WAS born in Hawaii, and the doctor was not threatened to sign the document. Why don’t you know when it makes sense to give up on a dead issue, especially one that makes you guys look like fools? Obama released his short form certificate during the campaign, and that form is legal to use for passports, etc. He is trying to save the freaking country and could not imagine that kooks
would not accept that he is American,so he ignored the stupid issue for the past 2 yrs. As dumb as some are,he decided that it was not going away and was doing damage to the effort to keep the country going and recovering.

And no,I would never think that you people are normal, except w/in your own group…much like a normal insane person w/ an asylum of insane people. You guys are so off the wall it’s not believable to
us sane people, and we shake our heads in disbelief every day. Sadly, the rightwing and tea party could do some productive things for the country…every thing is not even close to perfect, but they have gone over the edge w/ extremism about Obama and the budget,so they are only a large obstacle in fixing the country and are a mass of ranting, irrational loons. Sad…

          • JimH

Why didn’t he just settle the issue 2.5 years ago if that document is legit?
If there is a question about the eligability of someone holding that high of an office, is it being LOONIE to want it looked into?
You don’t find that it took until Trump was serious about investigating into it, that a document now shows up at this time?
I don’t buy the “he was to busy “saving”(?) the country to take care of it. I can find my birth certifcate in 10 minutes.
What part of what the Tea Party wants to do is extreme? (try to be specific. I already know the vague, lame talking points)
Is it the lower taxes, the balanced budget, the less intrusive gov.,or the getting back to the spirit of original
U.S. constituion, that is so extremly out there in lonnie land?
Is it the cutting of the budget part?
I don’t see anything extreme about any of that.
One of the 2 of us is loonie and I would bet it’s NOT the one you think it is.

          • denniso

First it’s loony to not believe Obama was born in Hawaii when he released the legal short form of his birth certificate 2 1/2 yrs ago,and after filing the necessary election paper work for his candidacy.

It’s also loony when the rightwing goes along w/ the budget busting of Bush, doubling the debt in his 8 yrs by several trillion dollars, then suddenly when Obama is elected in the worst crash in 80 yrs and has to spend money for jobs to rescue the economy, the rightwing goes ballistic over the debt. Where were they when bush doubled the debt? Where were they when he started 2 wars and didn’t pay for them, and gave tax cuts to the wealthy at the same time?

That’s the definition of lunacy,or racism. Take your pick.

          • JimH

Just because some one doesn’t agree with the policies of someone of another race doesn’t make them racist. It just means they disagree.
I take it you disagree with the Tea Party about cutting back on an unsubsanable budget. Is EVERYTHING in the federal budget NECESSARY?
To want to get things back under control is niether lunacy or racism. It is just responsable budgeting.
To disagree that reckless spending is going to save or create jobs IS NOT lunacy. If members of your family are laid off, do you max out the credit cards?
Bush has been out of office for over 2 years, Things are worse.
Bush did things I disagreed with, Obama managed to make it even worse.
I can’t answer for millions of other people why they weren’t protesting when Bush raised the budget. I can only acount for me. I didn’t like when he did, but a one man Tea Party doesn’t go far. I still didn’t like it when Obama did it, but now others are helping to speak out.
If over spending didn’t work for Bush, why do you believe it should work now? The definition of lunacy is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different result.
You don’t find the situation with the birth certificate just a little bit unusual? WHY WAIT 2.5 YEARS and then pull one out of the hat as soon as the presure is on? Why even use the short form if you have the full one?
If the eligability of the preson holding the highest office in the land is in question it isn’t lunacy to want to look into it. In fact it would be irresposable NOT to look into it.
I transport the special needs children to school for a living. I needed to show a birth certificate, social security card and be finger printed to get the job. It seems to drive a school bus part time requires more looking into than to get the job of POTUS. Even the drivers that are minority’s had to show the same things. If POTUS has to go through the same vetting process as we did it wouldn’t be racism, just policy. Not lunacy, just policy.
Out of the 2 of us I’m still not the one who is loonie.

          • denniso

You say the economy is worse w/ Obama then under Bush? Listen very carefully, again. When Obama came in the economy was in a freefall toward the largest depression ever…the stock market was plumetting and bottomed out at 6500. Sure, the recession has taken a toll on the budget w/ shrinking revenues and stimulus money needed to prop up jobs, but we are well on the road to recovery now…the market is back to pre crash days, meaning that everyone who stayed in the market has recovered their losses, just as pension funds have. Unemployment rose to 10% and has now come down to 8 1/2%.

How can you possibly say things are worse than when the economy was imploding and plumetting and there was panic in the markets and country? Get real, and get off your partisan horse and try to be just a little objective. I have to think you are getting info from the master of liars,Limbaugh.

          • JimH

I’m at work when Limbaugh is on, so I wouldn’t know what he says.(one of the lucky ones with a job, beause we took the 20% pay cut) I just know more people are out of work NOW, than when Bush left office. I go down town to see empty store fronts, that were still in business, during the Bush admin.
After almost a trillion in stimuless I see a higher unemployment rate than in 2008. The result was more added to the debt.
Are the markets recovering because of, or inspite of Obamas policies?
You didn’t respond to my rebutal about loonie or racist on the birth certiicate issue so I guess you fially understand.

          • denniso

JimH…the birth cert issue is dead, and should have been for 2 yrs,and I won’t waste any more time on it.

Your approach to the economy is flawed in this way. The economy had begun to crash when Bush was still in office,so he and others in office then bear responsibility, where any blame is to be laid. The market was in freefall, the global panic was beginning. Obama came into office as the crash was in full force and unemployment was climbing w/ the failing economy, and like a roller coaster everything was going downhill. Obama and Bush both attempted to slow and reverse the crash w/ bailouts and stimulus money to keep states solvent and prevent a total collapse…it succeeded in stopping the panic and slowing the collapse of the economy and even the global economy, but nothing can reverse a multi trillion dollar economy sliding downhill overnight…there is a huge momentum and inertia that has to be changed and reversed before it can start heading uphill again.

To make things worse, almost all the Repubs, lead by people like Beck and Limbaugh, did their best to talk down the economy and be an obstacle to recovery, partly because they didn’t want Obama to get credit for fixing things and partly out of sheer stupidity on their part. Remember Limbaugh’s commentm,’I hope Obama fails’???

Our consummer based economy is very much tied to the psychology of the people and when you have major leaders continually telling the country that things are terrible, then it can actually make it worse than it would be just based on the numbers. There are millions of people who still have tons of money, but the constant drone of how bad the economy is affects even those people and their spending habits, and the economy is affected adversely.

You can’t blame the guy who comes in after the roller coaster has begun plummeting, and who stops the freefall and is in the process of pushing it back up hill again, because it is still lower down the track
then it was before the drop began. It takes some time to push such a heavy roller coaster back uphill to the top. If Limbaugh and the Repubs had joined in w/ Obama early in the recovery efforts, rather than being a counter force pushing against the efforts,we would probably already be out of the recession and back to normal…their incessant onslaught on Obama and the recovery attempts have had a major negative effect on the entire effort to restore the economy.

          • JimH

I take it that because you couldn’t refute my posts and prove I’m a racist loonie, is why the birth certificate issue is dead. I’ll accept that.
If the roller coster has bottomed out, and Superman is pushing it back up, why did things get worse after the supposed upward push? It’s because there still is no upward push. Just a bigger debt with no result but a bigger debt. Some of us still have jobs because we took a wage cut, not because BO save it for me.
If your theory of a consummer based economy being influenced by leaders telling us the sky is falling is true. I remember in 06, When the markets were at 13000 and unemployment was at 4.4%(Bush policies) hearing talk about recession from some Dem leaders and from the lame stream media and everyone was starting to get concerned.Even though there was NO recession. It helped the Dems take congress and the because people weren’t spending a recession was starting to really form. But it got dems elected so they kept up the negative talk and it got the Dems the White House. Now they could come save us but they sabotaged to good and they can’t even tax and spend us out of it. Thanks Dem and Lame stream media for talking us into a recession.
If this sounds far fetched so is saying that Limbaugh and his cronnies can interupt BO’s good work.

          • denniso

If your job has anything to do w/ the state or a city then you probably do owe your job to Obama’s temporarily funding states/cities to minimize layoffs. If that is not the case w/ your job it is true of millions of regular Americans working at real jobs for states/cities or contractors doing work for them…road workers, backhoe operators, plumbers, carpenters, truck drivers, clerks…

In other recessions, left alone economy’s came back on their own. Is the temporary relief worth the massive debt it caused?
The return on each stimulus dollar still wasn’t worth it.
Since most of the people that are laid off don’t opperate heavy machinery the trillion poorly spent dollars did nothing for them.
The return is minimal at best.
Most of the effect of this is still yet to come and it won’t be the positive part.

Is your job a city or state job,or funded by one of them? If so,you have a job because of the federal money, our tax money, lent to the states to keep the economy going.

This was not a normal recession. This was on the order of the great depression for it’s severity and all economists agreed that we had to take unprecedented action or face another depression and global collapse. How is it that the detractors think they know more than expert economists? Do you have any economics training?

          • JimH

To answer your last question, I could ask YOU the same thing. Do you have any economics training?
There are economists who have credentials that disagree with the ones who were hired to advise(tell him what he wants to hear?)the White House.
Both have credentials, but different views. The ones you disagree with you call distractors?
These so called distractors are as much experts or more than the ones you want to believe.
You claim this wasn’t a “normal recession. The reason we didn’t plummet into the bottomless pit was because our fearless leader went into massive debt and saved us. Really it wasn’t serious enough. We wouldn’t have gone into a deep depression either way. Acording to what the economic expert I read put in his article. Your statement ” All economists agree that we HAD to take unpressedented action” is false. Not ALL experts agreed. Mostly the ones hied by the White House to Advise the White House. (unbiased experts there)
This economic expert also warns that the miniscule help that came from the stimulus will be way overshadowed by the massive debt it caused, when the bill comes due.
Like I posted earlier a poor return on each dollar spent.
I read in the newspaper how much stimulus money the local communities got in our region. It wasn’t much. Not a life changer.
I work for a private transportation company. We transport special needs children to school. The school districts don’t want to have to deal with them, so we are hired to do this. We do get paid by the districts. That said, Our towns didn’t get much stimulus and the paper didn’t break down how much went to schools and how much went to other prodjects. Minimal impact on school district transportation costs. The state(Illinois) has a Dem Govornor and Dem congress that has tha state budget so mess up they haven’t paid the schools what they prommised them. The money that pays us comes from local income taxes. So wrong again, Fed money didn’t save me.

I’ve got a minor in economics…most of the people who rant the most have no training in and little understanding of economics and how our system actually works.

This was not a normal recession, and no we can’t go back in time and try a different approach to see what would have happened if we hadn’t bailed ou the economy…but the majority of real, trained economists did agree that it would be devastating if we let the collapse take it’s natural course. You probably didn’t listen to or read the variety
of economists that I did,and sure, there are always some who disagree w/ anything, but that doesn’t change the fact that almost every economist in the WORLD agreed we had to support the economy…which is why almost every country did what we did, stabilised their economies.

If your job depends on city or state money, then your job was saved by the federal money that initially went to states, because every state was hit similarly by the crash and all were scrambling for cash to keep people hired and services continuing. The states did get the money, cities also get state funds for operations, and your private company either did get paid w/ that money,or they know they will.

You’re being disingenuous about the fact that your job was saved by taxpayer money funnelled to your company by Obama. You remind me of the state workers or contractors who bitch and moan about the gov’t,while their entire career and life and retirement was paid for by gov’t using tax payer money.

          • JimH

A minor in economics. The people that wrote the articles I read have PHD’s and MBA’s. I’ll listen to them.
I think it’s presumptuous of you to believe you know more about the situation in MY community Than the one who lives here.(me)
It couldn’t be the truth that our area towns didn’t recieve very much stimulus money. I just had to be that I’m “disengenuous”. According to YOU. Don’t compare my maturity level with yours. WE DIDN”T GET FED OR THE STATE FUNDS THAT WERE PROMISED. No mater what your preconcieved notion already decided. It comes from local property tax.
We can’t go back in time and do it right the first time. That is true. What we can do, is live with in our means. Quit deficit spending at an unsustanable rate and even try to pay down some of this debt. To do that we need to teach big gov the difference between NEED & WANT. Just pay for what we really need. Just resposable budgeting, not rightwing loonacy.(like you believe)
You are also presumptuous when you say most(down from all, your getting closer) economists agree that going into massive debt was the only way to go. That is just what you want it to be.
The consequences will far out wiegh the benifits, we just haven’t got the whole bill yet. Just wait, its coming.
It’s funny how this exchange started out as a comment on a birth certificate and you and eyes commenting about how any one who believes it is racist or loonie. Since I refuted that you went and changed the subject. A stratagy when your losing. You didn’t fool me. It was fun to see where it would go since you couldn’t refute what I said earlier.
Under the suspicious cercumstances surounding tht certificate, I would say NOT to question it would make someone a gullible dupe.

Obama deserves credit for taking the most risky option…he could have used missiles and not known for sure if Bin ladden was even in the compound, and probably killed many innocent people in the area, but he was willing to suffer the possibility that this raid wouldn’t work.

We’ll see if the rightwing give credit where it’s due. Credit is of course due the men willing to make the raid and put their lives on the line. Bravo!

      • JimH

Hi Denniso, With my work schedule I can only listen to commentators that are local. (Chicago) I’m working while Limbaugh is on, so I don’t know what he is saying, or any of the national sydications. The locals are definatly giving credit where credit is due.
I agree also. Plus the SEAL team and I know inteligence people and undercover opperatives like to keep a low profile, but kudos to them too.
