The Advantage of Being Armed

March 11, 2010 by

The United States Supreme Court is weighing the constitutionality of a 1982 ban on handgun ownership in the city of Chicago. It is one of the most stringent bans in the country.

The suit was filed by Otis McDonald, a resident of a Chicago neighborhood who says he is awakened at all hours of the night by all kinds of noises from outside his home. He wants to be able to protect himself from the thugs who roam the streets of his community.

Obviously the gun ban hasn’t worked. In 2008 there were 412 firearm homicides in Chicago, and in 402 of them a handgun was used.

Buoyed by a victory in District of Columbia v. Heller a year and a half ago, gun rights advocates are confident the Supreme Court will rightly rule the Chicago gun ban unconstitutional.

The Founding Fathers understood the necessity of an armed populace if a society was to remain free. Writing in Federalist No. 46, James Madison said, “The ultimate authority …resides in the people alone.…The advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation …forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition.”

And that ambition can be from a tyrannical government or a common street thug.

Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story, in his Commentaries on the Constitution, wrote, “The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”

There is a growing sense of fear from many in our society over the usurpation and the arbitrary power of rulers. But more importantly, if a person is to remain secure in his home he has to have the ability to defend himself.

I believe that is called life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

all a gun ban does is take the guns out of law abiding citizens hands, and allows criminals to get guns since by their very nature they could give two spits about any gun ban, and it just makes for easier prey for them when they sure noone else has a gun.

seems every state that has tried this the gun violence rates just skyrocket, as people are disarmed and crimnals stockpile weapons.

When I was 66 years old, a young man ran in my back door. He was 24 and resembled Mike Tyson, but was Mexican. He was high on methamphetamine and had eluded the police who were chasing him. They were 2 blocks north and running the wrong way. BELIEVE the old saying!! When seconds count, police are only minutes away! Within seconds I had my pistol trained on him. The police came back and were joined by others. I ended up with 17 officers, ALL BEAUTIFUL!! And not ONE of them tried to take away my pistol! They knew it had saved my life. A few days later, the criminal’s own father told me at the courthouse that his son would surely have killed me had I not been armed. I can not believe that a woman in Chicago would have been murdered under the same circumstances because she has no RIGHT to defend herself! I believe EVERYONE has the right to defend herself in her own home! I have never been charged with a crime in my entire life and there is no reason for me not to carry a pistol. I was certainly happy I had it that day!

The whole dispute over our 2nd Amendment right boils down to just one thing – Government control over the American People. The Government is subverting our nation throught organizations like the Brady Campaign by conditioning the American People into apathy and submissive acceptance. I would like to relate something my father said to me 30 some years ago that has always stuck with me. My father at the time was an accountant and tax preparer and he took a lot of exception at the time to information requested on tax returns. Back then, if anyone remembers, there used to be a box in which you put a numerical code that identified the person’s occupation. He pointed out that we were being set up then for total governmental control over our lives. At the same time there was a huge debate going on and push for the registration of all firearms in this country. Now if you remember the late 70′s saw the birth of personal computers and the technology was just in it’s infancy stage with the government already heavily invested in the technology. During the same time my father reminded of a statement by, I believe, Russion President Kruschev (sp?) to President John F. Kennedy in the early 60′s where Kruschev stated that “by the time our chidren have grandchildren Russia and Communism will have taken over the U.S. and they will do it WITHOUT FIRING A SHOT.” Take that into statement and put it into context with what we’re seeing today along with those seemingly innocent occupational codes on tax returns in the 70′s, gun registrations and all the information the government asks for when we complete the census surveys every 10 years and you can see that tools have been being put into place for decades now in order to realize the Communist agenda and end game. First they disarm the American people by confiscating any and all guns that they can. How? Law-abiding citizens have already registered them and the information resides in a huge database within the Federal Government. Second they take over industry, banks, healthcare, etc. and eventually make the entire Nation totally dependent upon the Federal Government for the people’s needs and personal survival. Eventually they will assign everyone a job telling them what they’re going to do and where.
How? One way is to say “we need to know of all nuclear physicists, plumbers, farmers, or whatever profession we need to fill”. So they punch the code for whichever occupation they’re in need of and voila!
A computer printout is produced naming everyone in whichever occupation they are looking for and then round them up. Now you may ask how are going to make this entire nation dependent upon the Federal Government for survival? Well they are already doing it. Do you really think this administration cares about putting people back to work? Just the opposite actually….the more people they can get on unemployment benefits the better. Next they make everyone dependent on the gov’t for healthcare…currently working earnestly and tirelessly on that agenda. Now they are working alienating the different working classes against each other……Pelosi’s and the progressives started that at the beginning of the healthcare debate by calling the Tea Party movement a bunch of “swastika-carrying brownshirts” just one among the many incendary remarks from her camp. In the meantime the progressive (aka “socialist”) party has essentially taken over control of the “Lame Stream Media” and are dictating what is and isn’t reported. Then you’ve got the big labor unions like SEIU and leaders like Andy Stern proclaiming that the workers of the world must unite. Hmmm get everyone in the world under the thumb of a Union? Sounds like a desire to ultimately destroy innovated and entrepenureal thinking and in turn convert workers around the world into nothing more than robots. Does it not bother anyone the double-standard applied in our legal system when two people uncover and reveal the inner workings and corruption of ACORN are persecuted by the left and lame street media yet nothing is done or said when members of the Black Panthers stand with clubs in hand outside a polling place on election day in an obvious attempt to intimidate voters? Does it not bother anyone when SEIU members beat down a peaceful, innocent man exercising his 1st amendment rights at a rally to decry a socialistic government healthcare plan and they are not charged by the authorities? Does it not bother anyone when Andy Stern says “first we will use the power of persuasion and if that doesn’t work we’ll persuade through the use of power.” I’m paraphrasing here but it’s the basic gist of what he has said. Another tool they are using is the de-moralization of the people. Look at what they are doing when they promote acceptance of the gay-lesbian-alternative lifestyle by our school children. Children who aren’t even old enough to know what the difference is between boys and girls yet that is exactly what they are doing. They are sowing the seeds of sexual confusion in our youngest of children and encouraging them at the same time that it is alright to go against nature and be different. The progressives are trying to further destroy our moral compass by promoting abortions and getting it federally funded and legalizing marijuana. True it’s only for medical use in certain states for now but that makes for an end run that enables recreational use by otherwise healthy people. But the big question here is WHY? Why would they want to legalize pot? I think it’s simply to weaken the minds of our nation, young and old alike, and subsequently turn the nation into a nation of lambs ready to be led to the slaughter.

I could go on and on here over what I see happening to our great Nation and our society’s core beliefs/morals, etc. But the fact is we, America, are under attack and we are under attack from within. We need to realize the danger we are in and take back our Nation by getting to the polls every chance we get and vote the wolves in sheep’s clothing out of office. We haven’t a moment to lose otherwise the freedoms we were ensured by our founding fathers and that we have enjoyed since will be gone forever. When that happens I truly fear there will literally be blood in our streets because there will then be another American Revolution. Our Representatives in Washington swore an oath to “protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” I think it’s high time we hold them to that oath. Hold them accountable. And if they refuse then vote them out, impeach them or recall them. Whatever it takes to get our country back on the track our founding fathers envisioned for us, our children, our children’s children, so on and so on.

The United Nations Secretary General’s recently said: “Finally, I am urging progress in eliminating other weapons of mass destruction and limiting missiles, space weapons and conventional arms — all of which are needed for a nuclear-weapon-free world. [Note the hyphens.] Disarmament must anticipate emerging dangers from other weapons.” To the UN, “Conventional Arms” includes small arms. You know, Hand Guns, Rifles and Shotguns, such as those we the people posses here, as protected by our Constitution. You see, to the UN, small arms should only be in the hands of governments – like Somalia, North Korea, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba and so many more of the dictatorships that run that “Cesspool in Manhattan” than one would care to remember, let alone count. In fact, there’s a woman in that cesspool whose entire “Raison d’être” is disarming the United States citizenry.
I suggested shortly after 911 that we rebuild the Twin Towers taller and better than before, rename them the “New United Nations and World Trade Center” and restrict and limit the UN’s occupancy to just the top, oh say, dozen or so floors of that complex – so they’d have an unobstructed view of all incoming flights, of course. At the time I wanted Senator Jessie Helms to do it, but he took ill and never was able to take it up. More’s the pity. [Washington Times ] While I would love to see the “Silent Majority” rise up as they did in the election’s of 1980/84 and then again in 1994 (that one did a lot of good two years later, didn’t it), I hold little hope that “the will of the people” will be allowed to pass. As Stalin noted: “It doesn’t matter who votes. It only matters who counts the votes”. I said it during the Clinton administration: “It’s coming.”. That was during the Janet Reno/Jamie Garelick “Actions” to “Save the Children” at Waco, Texas (by killing them), and at Ruby Ridge, Idaho (by killing a mother with a babe in arms in order to capture someone who may (repeat, may) have violated the minimum rifle barrel length by 1/16th of an inch). To what “It” am I referring? The revolution by Americans to return our country back to it’s constitutional roots. Now, much to my sad recognition, the ongoing “Bloodless Coup” of the left has not yet been confronted by the “Non-Bloodless Counter Revolution”. Am I happy over this apparent inevitability? Hell no! Am I resigned to it’s inevitability? Sadly, reluctantly, disgustedly, I’m beginning to see no other way out of this decent into Fascism. Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler would both be proud of GE, PHILLIPS, GENERAL MOTORS, CHRYSLER, (or anything run and/or funded/controled by George Soros) et al, and their conjoining with big government to curtail competition from their competitors. God preserve us. He knows the current administration won’t. I say that not as an overtly religious man, but I am “An American” who firmly believes in the founding principles of our country, first, last and always. Speaking of which: Always aim just below the helmet. No matter what color it is. According to a dear friend of mine: “Paranoia is what they call perceptivity, before you’re proven right”. By the way, When this speech becomes illegal, I’ll become a criminal: “I may become an enemy of the state, but never of the people”.

    Very well said.

Amen! We should ALL have the right to defend ourself…and Congress should be MADE to uphold our Constitutional RIGHTS! But, these are being stripped more every single day….as it is CLEAR that THIS Govt. despises the Constitution and The People!

It is a FACT that banning guns only keeps the pansies and the overly-righteous law abiding people to comply! Hint: ‘underground’ weapons are LOW PROFILE and arent REGISTERED!

  • Jane Doe

First, (and this is a petty thing) thanks for spelling “lose” the right way. Instead of “loose.” RIDICULOUSLY but commonly misspelled. Just a pet peeve.

Thanks for that comment. This is exactly my thoughts. What I WILL say is that if this controlling, dictating Govt. DOES continue down their Socialist/ Communist path…. I totally agree that there will be not only REVOLT but it very well COULD lead to a Revolution! The outrage will start if HC Reform passes!!! I’ll bet Obuma and Congress already has PLANS to FLEE to undisclosed shelters when the you- know- what hits the fan!

couldn’t have said it better myself.
