Poll: Most In United States Would Keep Working After Lottery Win

PRINCETON, N.J., (UPI) — A Gallup poll of U.S. workers indicates two thirds of respondents would keep working even if they won a $10 million lottery jackpot.

The poll, based on phone interviews conducted Aug. 7-11, found 44 percent of those polled would keep their jobs if they won $10 million in the lottery while 23 percent would seek new employment. Thirty-five percent said they would quit working.

Gallup said previous polls taken prior to the 2008-09 recession indicated 39 percent to 44 percent of respondents would quit working after a lottery win.

The poll of 1,039 adults had a margin of error of 3 percentage points with 95 percent confidence.
