Obama Looks To Merge Agencies To Consolidate His Authority

President Barack Obama will ask Congress for greater power to limit the size of the Federal government. His first initiative concerns the merger of six sprawling trade and commerce agencies, The Associated Press reported.

According to the news outlet, Administration officials noted that the overlapping programs of the agencies can be baffling to businesses. Obama will call on Congress to give him the type of reorganizational power that was last held by former President Ronald Reagan.

The AP reported that the Obama version of this power would be the authority to propose mergers that would promise to save money and help American consumers. It would then be up to lawmakers to give the President this fast-track ability and decide whether to approve any of his ideas.

ABC News reported that this type of declaration by the President is similar to his January 2011 State of the Union Address. Here he noted that government overlap produced inefficiency and needed to be reformed.

“The Interior Department is in charge of salmon while they’re in fresh water, but the Commerce Department handles them when they’re in saltwater,” he quipped during the speech.

AMAZING THAT AFTER A YEAR HE WOULD PICK THESE AGENCY’S WHEN THERE ARE SOOOO MANY MORE THAT ARE USELESS AND SHOULD BE ATTACKED FIRST. HE WILL DISTROY JOBS AND BUSINESS AT ANY COST. I CAN SEE IT NOW ALL AGENCYS ARE GUTTED AND THE REST REORGANIZED BY OUR TERRORIST AND CHIEF AND THEN A RADICAL MARXIST ZAR WILL HAVE CONTROL WITH NO OVERSITE AND HUSSEIN WILL BE CALLING THE SHOTS FROM BEHIND THE CURTAIN AND TELLING THE FOLKS HE HAS NO CONTROL OVER WHAT HIS ZAR DOES. WE ALL KNOW THIS DESPERATE MOVE BY HUSSEIN IS ANOTHER DESTRUCTION PLAY FROM THE BOOK OF ALLA…

    • SMsgt Z(ret) Nam 68

What is a zar and why are you yelling ?
Every President since FDR including Ronald Reagan appointed Czar’s (correct spelling)
Removing overlapping regulations is idea who’s time has come
      Good job for a change

      • s c

s, why do you use two spellings for the same word? Beyond that, if you really think The Anointed Whatever is going to do America any favors by “consolidating” his obsessive “need” for complete control, you have serious mental issues.
Obummer doesn’t have ALL the power he needs? S, do you know what ‘megalomaniac’ means? I’m guessing that you don’t, or you wouldn’t have crammed both feet in your mouth and done it in a way that seems like a reflex.
Either you’re a closet Obummer jockstrapper, s, or your language skills jest ain’t kwite thay orta bee. If you can’t reason any better than you did today, I’ll have to conclude that you hang upside in a bat cave – and still think of yourself as ‘normal.’ Maybe a good air vent system would help.

      • Joe H.

Again one of the super bright correct someones spelling then misspell a word or use the wrong one. Using who’s instead of WHOSE(correct) when correcting someone else is not too illuminating!!! how about we concentrate on the issues at hand instead of correcting ones spullin od grammur???

      • Evermyrtle

SM…………..Why does so many, think they have the right to tell other exactly how they should write? If you have something to say, say it and leave others to do the same

      • mike swann2

A czar is someone the Prez picks for a certain job. The 44 czars Obama has would never have been vetted by Senate. Some would ok them as they are anti-American also. If you, or anyone else cares to find out about the czars obama picked, you will know why everyone complains. They are all anti-business and/or anti-gun, anti-free speeech, anti-free enterprise, pro-drug legalization, one world gov’t, anti-capitalism, all for big gov’t and gov’t running things, spending our money since we are too stupid to. One was a chld abuser, named education czar. Holdren is a real nut, check him out. This is the president’s pick. Your liberal mainstream media will never tell you this. There are some reliable websites where you can find the truth. Liberals don;t like logic or truth.

      • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

Well, SM, from your reply, we have ascertained that you can spell, I might also add that you did not include both spellings, as the term is also spelled Tzar, which it totally irrelevant. Also the face that FIRE needed to air his/her opinion, should never have come up, since the persons reading these responses, are often sight impaired ! Never the less, it is still a free country and FIRE still has the right to print in either lower case, or higher case, which ever, he/she prefers !

Now to the real reason for these responses, we are here to discuss the reason that many are not allowing Mr. Obama to have enough control, is simply because, he is on the wrong side!! He has not the mentality nor the beliefs such as the presidents you mentioned in the past ! This is NOT A MARXIST, COMMUNIST, OR PROGRESSIVE COUNTRY !!
THEREFORE, HE MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SELECT HIS “PANELISTS”, SO HE CAN HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO TRY TO CRAM HIS BELIEFS, AND DESIRES DOWN AMERICANS’ THROATS !! Let them go to countries where their beliefs and goals ARE welcomed…this also includes his kind, which apparently, you are one of those, judging from your opinions, and bad manners, in condemning another person for the way they write or spell. I am a very educated person, and FIRE did not bother me one iota with the way he/she wrote or spelled. I had NO trouble understanding what they meant. Shame on you !

    • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

Right On, FIRE !! You have the picture correct !! Exactly why Mr Obama must not receive his desire to choose 6 panels to do his bidding.
FIRE, Keep yelling it !! You are on the Right Track !! This is enough to make all of us yell who see what is going on, or rather see what some would like to see go on here in our country of America !! We need more sharpies like you, FIRE !! Keep up the good work !! So many have realized the truth, that Mr. Obama has desired to destroy America and bring it down…we can see the evidence of the horrible things that have been going on in his administration. He was taped from an interview, before he was ever elected as president, that he would bring down America and put her in her place. He also stated that if we had problems he would be on the side of the Muslim. I am so glad to see America waking up. Of course, we would have come awake a whole lot sooner, had it not been for a biased Media !!

Many of us have lost respect for a large part of the crooked media because of this unfairness, too !!

  • wandamurline

Desperate man….after hearing the Republican debates and Rick Perry saying that he would do away with the Department of Commerce and Department of Education, now this guy wants to try to reduce departments? Boy, you can tell this is an election year. Watch out, there are strings attached to this. Why combine anything….just dispose of them, but have congressional approval to do so. All of a sudden it is 2012 and Obumer is running to stay in office….for two years, he and his Demorats controlled everything….did they help te economy or worry about jobs? No, they went for more power over the people, they crammed Obamacare down our throats that we did not want, the passed the Dodd and Frank regulations, they spent more money than all the past presidents through Clinton in two years. They used the money to reward past friends for helping them get elected, the sued Arizona because it wanted to stop the invasion from Mexico that they refuse to stop, Obama, all by himself without approval from congress as called for in the Constitution, declared war on Libya and bombed a country that was not a “direct” threat to America, Obama has backed the Unions in South Carolina and almost caused 2,000 jobs in that state because they weren’t unionized, he laughed and made fun that his “shovel ready” jobs he had proposed were not so shovel ready, he has allowed Eric Holder to “give” guns to the drug cartels in Mexico…he has stopped issuing drilling permits even though a judged has oredered him to start issuing these permits,on every turn Obumer has tried to destroy America…he has completely ignored the Constitution and appointed people when Congress is not out of session…he refuses to release his school records and passports of the 80′s…the birthcertificate that he released is a complete fake and Hawaii will not allow anyone to see the one they have that is supposedly on file….People this man has duped you into believeing that he is eligible to hold the office of President, when the Constitution states that both parents must be US citizens…so even if he was born in Hawaii, which I doubt, he still is ineligible to be in the White House. You and I have been had and at some time in the future, you will find that he was ineligible to hold this office, so if you voted for him, you are going to be very disapponted. Now, if you believe that he cares about your jobs and economy, you are a blatant fool as he had two years where he completely shut out the GOP and the Demorats did what they wanted steam rolled over us and we did not have the numbers in Congress to stop them. Now that their steam rolling has stopped, thanks to the tea parties and new representation in the House, they want to call the GOP blockers of legislation, when the House has passed about 100 bills and sent to the Senate for consideration, and Reid has tabled them? The Demorats have no budget…three years and they have not passed a budget, they have no new ideas except to spend and spend, and they want to accuse the GOP of blocking everything. They started blocking the Demorats agenda and that is why they are pointing the finger at the GOP. If you really want to live in a communist/marxist/socialist state, then you vote for Obama again…but I would suggest you visit a communist/marxist/socialist state before you vote and make sure that you like what you see.

Believe Obama beat Perry on the down sizing of government

ABC News reported that this type of declaration by the President is similar to his January 2011 State of the Union Address. Here he noted that government overlap produced inefficiency and needed to be reformed.

      • Ted Crawford

YET, he takes no action for a full year! One wonders why now? Not really! He is very transparent!

        • Joe H.

          Ted,
          Desperate times breed desperate actions!!!

    • skip

I was waiting for this horse manure from you Wanda and Chip – if Obama stated the earth was round, you all would declare it flat. Republicans want government streamlined, he proposes it, and you all come up with grand scheme that this is being done to make him a dictator. You all are truly insane and mendacious.

      • Raggs

A dictatorship is defined as an autocratic form of government in which the government is ruled by an individual, the dictator. It has three possible meanings

A Roman dictator was the incumbent of a political office of the Roman Republic. Roman dictators were allocated absolute power during times of emergency. Their power was originally neither arbitrary nor unaccountable, being subject to law and requiring retrospective justification. There were no such dictatorships after the beginning of the 2nd century BC, and later dictators such as Sulla and the Roman Emperors exercised power much more personally and arbitrarily.
A government controlled by one person, or a small group of people. In this form of government the power rests entirely on the person or group of people, and can be obtained by force or by inheritance. The dictator(s) may also take away much of its peoples’ freedom.
In contemporary usage, dictatorship refers to an autocratic form of absolute rule by leadership unrestricted by law, constitutions, or other social and political factors within the state.

So skip if you have read the above it appears that the shoe kits king oblamas foot very well.

        • Tiger

          Raggs,
Thank you I cvouldnt agree more. I am very lacking in the edu. needed to talk on any issue but hope more persons such as yourself be vocal about the state of America.
          Thank you again.

          • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

Tiger, do not let the lack of education stop you !! You are just as important as anyone here stating their opinion. Good wisdom doesn’t always spell it just the way it should be, but wisdom gets things done, not education ! Keep giving your opinion. Sounds to me you are awake and sharp to see what has been going on, to take away our freedoms, and force things on America, that so many of us do not want !

        • Karla

Raggs, have you ever actually read the Constitution? Obama has not broken the law and certainly does not conduct himself like a dictator. That “honor” was taken by our last president George W.

You repubs. have been screaming for smaller government for the past two years (although you were strangely quiet during the Bush years) and now that Obama is trying to shrink the government, you scream Dictator!!!!

You should be ashamed of yourself. Try reading the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, you might develop and understanding of patriotism and love of country.

          • mike swann2

Karla, youo must be living in the twilight zone. O doesnt want smaller gov’t. If he did, he would eliminate the healthcare we don’t want nor can afford. This is hurting job ceation as small businesses cannot afford it, at least not right now. Dodd-Frank bill puts so many mandates on small businesses they cannot hire or expand. have you read it or know what it is? You don’t know how to read as obama is trashing the constitution. He said he couldn’t understand why it didn’t ahve retribution of wealth. Duh. That has never worked any place on earth, the Marx-Lenin, share and share alike. Wy should people who strive to get ahead in life have to pay for some lazy slob or some baby making queens,or be a husband to the ones who don’t want to get married as they get more living on the gov’t? People are puniched for tryig to better themselves. Demos always prey on the minorites for the vote and to keep them under their controlling commie thumbs.
Bush lowered taxes and we had work until Pelosi and Reid ran athings in 2007. Bush didn’t go into war without Congress approval. Bush never spend $4 trillion in 2 years with nothing to show for it. Bush had 2 wars with Demos ok, Kaatrina, 9/11 (thanks to Clinton’s cowardice on refusing to take bin Laden out when he had the chance, twice. Not to mention how many natural disasters to give money to i U
            S. We had work, homes, building, and after 9/11 he kept us safe and started the border wich Pelosi refused to fund as she like the illegals for their votes. Bush protected us and this coward isn’t interested. He eliminated e-verify, and took ICE’s powes away in turning in illeals from workplace raids. He turned our missile defense over to Russia. Find out what START, INTERPOL is since you know so much. Check out how much this president has given to Hammas, our enemy on our borowed money from China. You have a lot oto learn

          • NIKI

Karla are you NUTS or do you really believe what you said? Or maybe both. What do you Karla even know about the President? Oh, thats right his files are sealed. You are another person that votes and knows nothing..Blame Bush is really intelligent and you should read the constitution. NO OTHER PRESIDENT HAD CZARS or people that hated America as much as this president does. You really need to find another site that will agree with you.

          • Blue Devil

Karla — I can’t speak for Raggs, but I have read the Constitution. And the Declaration of Independence. And passed a written test on both. When – and where – I was in school, The Constitution Test was the high point of the eighth grade, and a passing grade was a requisite for graduation from same. As a result, a very few short years later, I knew exactly what I was taking an oath to “Preserve, protect, and defend,” when I was sworn into the United States Army. Further, deponent sayeth not!

Given Obama’s track record, why do you expect anyone to trust him without knowing the details? Why would we assume that the powers he’s asking for will be used for the reasons he states? Or should we just “pass the legislation so we can see what’s in it?”

          • Nadzieja Batki

You are so full of envy and jealousy and greed it is pitiful.

      • Nadzieja Batki

Just the opposite,we would say the world was round and O would be the one to say it was flat and he would make sure the contradictory people were punished for contradicting him.

    • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

You are so right, Wanda !! Keep ‘tellin’ it like it is’ !!

  • CP

It’s funny that the Republicans have been promising to downsize government for a long time now, but when a Democratic president wants to take them up on it, they cut and run the other direction. Instead of helping eliminate all the cross control, they complain the president is trying to take their power away from them.

    • Marie

Read wandamurline’s before deciding whether the GOP is cutting and running. I believe the department of education should be eliminated first. Parents are desperately trying to get their children out of organized union school and the propaganda, that goes with it. Bush gave DC children vouchers and President Obama took it away. Do you think he had an education on this mind or was it just plain politics as usual.

      • SMsgt Z(ret) Nam 68

My three daughters were educated in the public school system all three received a great education. At no time did I ever observe a teacher trying to teach anything but the required curriculum.
With out unions the working class would still be in company towns

        • countryboybubba

Senior Master Sgt Nam 68: As a public school grad a SP4 Nam 67 vet and father I can assure you public schools are not what they were before the federal statist govt took over with the dept of education.

Also as a former teamster I know the unions are no longer what they were when workers lived in company towns.

Unions and overreaching government have become self serving and the public be D—-D.

What needs to be done in for congress to develop a spine and get rid of all the useless and costly departments (EPA, DEA, IRS, BATFE), I think you get the picture. Truly downsize government.

          • Ted Crawford

True Country! I’m also a disabled Nam vet, and retired union member. I retired early, not because of physical problems, but because I could no longer support the counter-productive policies of the unions.
As for the DoE, it’s easy to determine its value to our youth. Begin a graph when DoE was created. Put money spent and our educational standing in the International community at ’0′, going foward the money spent line heads North at an ever accelerating rate, mirrored by the line repersenting our international standing Headed SOUTH!

            countryboybubba,
Very correct!!! also, did you see the news story today about the bill that will now allow parents to have a say in their childs education? The school was using a book that called Jesus “a wino, drunkard socialist”, but our religeon isn’t under attack by the liberal left, now is it??

Jazzabelle, what are the odds that ‘sm’ EVER went to a school and SAW a teacher trying to teach any curriculum? Those odds are damned LOW, to be specific. Most parents couldn’t find their way to a school with a professional guide.
I’ll bet you a bottle of good wine that ‘sm’ was never a teacher, and will not admit that public schools are government indoctrination centers. Please, get your kids OUT of public schools!

          • Buster the Anatolian

If I remember correctly SM was proven to be a lier about several things about his military service and it was shown to be doubtful that he ever served especialy in a war zone.

        • mike swann2

Nothing against teachers. Teachers belonging to unions dont get raises based on merit. The bad one and the good one get the same raise. OK? This is why our kids are way, way, behind other countries. Bad teachers should be thrown out, good ones rewarded. Unions aren’t worried about our kids. They want the dollar. Everytime tehey put teachers up to squawking for a raise, it is a buck in the union’s pocket. Unions have given union dues to Democrat campaigns. Some of those dues have come from Republicans also. Maybe your kids got a good education. This isn’t always the case.

Due to unions, we are paying for a teacher’s salary, insurance in NY while she is off waiting for a trial. She is accused of child abuse. Wisconsin was broke. All govenor asked for was for the teachers to pay 6% toward their medical. The gov was trying to make a budget. Demos don’t know what that is. Nor care. The unions did $8 million in damages to the Madison state house and littered innocent people’s lawns. You know, teachers should be required to do without some also (as with other gov’t workers getting raises) as we are in a bad way right now. Obama says he owwes unions. We are pauying HIS union dues.

        • ohoh

Unfortunately, the “required curriculum” is a huge part of the problem. But apparently, not for you. Whether you know it now or not, it is, and will continue to be a problem for your kids and for the rest of us who know the difference.

        • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

SM, maybe in their day; however, we are no longer living under the same teaching curriculum as we once were !! Have you been reading the news about what IS being taught today in many of the schools??? I think not, because if you had, you could not honestly make a statement such as you have made.

      • skip

The Wanda’s of this world would eliminate education altogether – it has the potential to teach our children something other than that the earth came into being some 6015 years ago and only certain citizens have the true pathway to salvation, and the like. Education is the one way up for those in the 99% and we had better be sure we get the best we can. What we need is a huge amount of education in science and math, but also in history, ethics, morality, etc. – look at the mess we are in because our past Presidents and their advisers didn’t bother with knowing history and geography – and we got the combined catastrophes of Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan, where our superior science and technology took us right down the plug hole. We are a potentially great nation, with the possibility of opportunity, but we are not the only nation on this earth.

        • Joe H.

          skip,
Name one school system that teaches that!!! They are all too worried about teaching “Johnnie has two daddies/mommies to take time to teach math, science, reading!!! Ask any ninth grader to list ANY of the ammendments to the constitution and what they cover. Ask them to name THREE of our founders. The government doesn’t want them to know about the constitution because that way, when they violate it, the kids won’t even KNOW!!! BTW, I say this of both parties, or should I say all three parties!!!

          • http://personalliberty.com B.S. Melton

            RIGHT ON, JOE !!

        • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

Human beings have an innate drive to learn, therefore it’s impossible to eliminate education altogether. But, our government schools are making a good honest go of it!

        • ohoh

The indoctrination that shamefully passes for education is just one of the problems of a public education system already burdened by inefficiencies and other dysfunctions caused by bureaucracy, public union politics and the lack of competition. This one-size-fits-all progressive, revisionist model has some anecdotal high points, but for the most part, it results prove the disgrace that it really is.

    • Nadzieja Batki

Consolidating all departments into one or two mega departments does not downsize anything. Will this reshuffling get rid of any bureaucratic bean counters? Not likely and in all probability the bean counters will increase but no one will be paying attention.

  • eddie47d

Even States have been pushing for consolidated agencies and less paperwork. Businesses have been clamouring for fewer agencies to deal with and the majority of Americans want the government to run more efficiently. Now that it’s been brought to the forefront and might actually happen those on the Right balk. Now that is playing politics! It’s the same scenario we have to put up with when it comes to wars. If a Democrat starts a war the Republicans hate it and if a Republican starts a war the Democrats hate it. Now the Right “thinking” crowd doesn’t want consolidated agencies anymore became a Democrat advocates for it. Flip Flop Flip Flop! You can say some agencies should be totally abolished and that could happen but unlikely. The extreme Right is way too angry to come up with any sensible solutions even when you’re getting something the majority of citizens would welcome.

You say the right is balking at what Obamma wants to do. I say they are skeptical of what he is saying his purpose is. During the election, he said their would be transparency. All bills would be on C-span so we could read them. He also said they would be limited in size so we could understand them. HE LIED!! So why should we just roll over and believe him now? He’s done nothing to make me believe him about anything. As far as I know, he’s probably spouting more lies again. How can anyone believe him? The most important thing he promised during campaigning has never happened. I doubt if what he says he’s doing this for is the truth now either. My grandfather used to say he hated a liar worse than a thief. You can catch a thief, but you can’t catch a liar. He also said:Once a liar always a liar.I’m going with what Grandpa said. He never lied.

  • Buckner

I am sure that the P…resident has an ulterior motive – his idea of “consolidating” departments only means putting them all under his control, or the control of another newly minted “czar” of his… NO job losses, merely giving each employee the same department badge so they can trip over each other in an effort to make the super-department “more efficient”… what a scam…mer

So let them trip over each other in the breadlines. Where on earth are you coming from? This sort of non-think and paranoia will get us nowhere. You are truly an anarchist, the type that managed to start the meaningless First World War, and I’m sure you would delight in that.

      • Ted Crawford

        Thank You Comrade Alinsky!

      • Joe H.

Oh, skip so the rest of us SHOULD trip over each other in the bread lines to keep the redundant workers OUT of it??? ARE YOU CRAZY??? Think before you post, dude!!!

Let’s continue to do what Boehner and thug Repubs have wanted all along. Make him fail at every thing.
No idea is good if brought up by the “BAD” guys. Who is looking for more power here?

    • mike swann2

speaking of thugs, can anyone out there tell me why michele Obamie has no lawa license. Every search engine i went to says she “submitted them” but fails to say why. Also, prez no longer has a law license. This answere is sealed tight as a drum, like where he ws born, who paid for his college, why no record of him going to Columbia, no passport on record how he got to mideast while in college, with his anti American muslim class mate who also paid his way over. Just check it out. Also, check out what kind of political party michele Obama’s father belonged to in Chicago. Her maiden name is Robinson. She was also Bernadine Dorn’s friend before she married Obama. Bernadine is Weather Underground Terrorist Bill Ayres wife. She is a self avowed Marxist as her hubby is. Ya know, the Ayrs O didn’t know, he was just a guy in the neighborhood????He sat on more board and committees with Ayres than cater has liver pills. How many did Ayres kill in bombing, maim, blind, and got off as his father owns an power co in Chicago and is a multimillionaire. The kind Obama and Ayres, Pelosi criticize but kiss their A** for money election time. Hey who is talking about thugs?

      • Smilee

        Mike

She has a law license but has it in suspension as she is not practicing law at the present time. This is a common practice, your post does more to reveal your lack of knowledge and bias that anything intelligent

        • Joe H.

          Smilee,
I’m suprised at YOUR lack of knowledge!! Her licence is on COURT ORDERED suspension!!!

          • SMILEE

That’s and out and out lie, but I’ve noticed the truth never was of any importance to you!!!

  • Raggs

Surprize surprize, king oblama wants more power.. Well go figure..

  • NVRAT

Don`t kid yourself the only reason that Obama wants to combine the Agencies is to consolidate power of some kind. No one knows, at least the public, what kind of power each agency has to control laws of the country unless one researches the overall agency and the other ones he wants to combine. The statement about the salmon is so innocent that it can easily slip through ones mind as harmless except when you think about the ramifications. Do you really want the Commerce Department in charge of the National Parks, Wildlife, State Parks etc. I do believe our Founding Fathers wanted the Commerce Dept to address problems dealing with commerce between states and not country/international problems only, I don`t think so. that would put tremendous power in the hands of a President that could be used to destroy our Constitution beyond repair. I say “NO” to Obama`s proposal.

    • Americanfreedom70

Not to mention that just the other day Iread an article that one deficit reduction option on the table was selling federal property. If we put the bean counters in charge of our parks they will sell them all off i’m afraid. Do we really want China owning our parks? Or any of our property? It seems to me that many other countries require citizenship (along with the shackles that go along with it)in order to own property in their country. I can’t honestly say I disagree with this policy. Elimination of overlaping nonproductive agencies? Absolutely! Consolidation of power into a totalitarian dictatorship NFW!

  • Bluesman1

We don’t have the luxury of continuing with a President who doesn’t hear the majority. I always thought, majority rules in America. I guess I was wrong. He’s not the only one. Our congress also has the same problem. I admit, there are a few that actually care about the people they are supposed to serve. We need a president and a congress that understands that he works “for the people”. Does anyone remember where that statement comes from? Those that want to destroy our constitutional government and bash everyone who believes in it, including certain elected officials, need to take lessons from history. Socialism doesn’t work and NEVER has! Communism doesn’t work and NEVER has! The idealists, statists and utopians of our society all seem to come from the same place…the liberal left. Our men and women who have died for our freedoms, died protecting something…something worth protecting. They also understand that someone has to stand up to the murderous bullies of the world. If we don’t, who will. I agree that there are areas we as a people are led into by our elected leadership, that don’t have a positive outcome for anyone on either side, but “we the people” are responsible for putting them there. When the blame game goes full on, we should all look in the mirror and blame ourselves. Ultimately…it’s our fault!

    • Dave

I don’t believe there is a “majority” view here. Split into differing groups. So far in the past few administrations the “majority”sure didn’t get what they wanted. When the majority of people really vote and get there input things may be a whole lot different than you think.
The minority is always yelling the loudest.

      • Joe H.

        Dave,
you say the majority never speaks loud enough? Think back to Bush2 and Scamnesty. We flooded his and other politicians phone lines, emails, and mail boxes with so many LOUD voices we stopped amnesty for all those illegals here in the US. Did Adumber listen or LEARN from that?? Hell, no!! He just says the immigration agents can’t arrest any illegals unless they commit a violent crime. Well, Bubba, that’s TOO LATE!!!!

        • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

Please get off your “Majority Rules” soapboxes. The majority DOESN’T rule in America, and it shouldn’t. We are a Republic, not a democracy. The Constitution exists to protect the rights of minorities. Who was it who said, “Government needs to be more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.”

Our Founding Fathers abhorred democracy and its “majority rules” ethic. That’s why they didn’t give us one. What we need to be focused on is whether a particular proposal is lawful (Constitutional) or not. Crying about the “majority” vs the “minority” is just another way of falling into the divide-and-conquer strategy. Why whine about class warfare politics when you’re falling for this?

When government governs properly, the majority and the minorities all benefit.

          • James

Well said, I don’t recall any power delegated to Congress that requires them to stand up to the bullies of the world. The power to declare war was intended for defense against attacks.

          • Smilee

True, but a majority vote did put Obama in the White House, decisions are made by majorities but the Court can balance that power when the majority steps out of bounds

        • Dave

Obama has already sent more immigrants back sough of the border since he’s been in office than Bush II in his whole 8 years!

          • Americanfreedom70

Dave; you should do your own fact checking. Do not just regirgitate what your master says. Where is your proof?

          • s c

d, when or IF Obummer ever ships home the MILLIONS and MILLIONS and MILLIONS of illegals who are here NOW, let me know. Until then, take you ‘praise Obummer, love Obummer, worship Obummer’ and kindly SHOVE it as far as it will go, comrade [yes, my standard offer to ship any kookoid some petroleum jelly still stands].

          • Joe H.

Only by numbers as there are MORE here now. go by Percentages, and he has done LESS.

          • SMILEE

            Joey

Because of the bad economy and lack of jobs here the number coming has also dropped substantially, it is lower in both numbers and percentage, like I said earlier truth means nothing to you

        • eddie47d

Now you really sound suspect Joe. Immigration increased under Bush and has gone down under Obama. Don’t let your Obama hatred get into the way of facts.

  • Jefferson Thomas

No need to re-organize the agencies Barry. Eliminate them. Show us your leadership by starting in your own house Barry. Get rid of all of the unconstitutional agencies in the executive branch (we know how much you respect the constitution and the oath you took to uphold it). Refuse to take the salary, benefits, and retirement that you take and will take at the expense of the taxpayer. Cut the salaries and benefits of every one remaining who works for the executive branch. Finally, when you retire from the presidency in the next election…get a real job and produce something of value in the real world marketplace that is not government related. Of course we know this will not happen with a statist-marxist like Barry and that I am mocking and laughing at him.

That is why Ron Paul needs to be elected and he needs to start making real cuts (not cuts in the rate of growth) of all government.

  • Raggs

a consolidation of power that he alone controls.
If that is NOT a definition of a “Dictator” than what is?

    • Ted Crawford

      Startlingly “Transparent” isn’t he!

      • Flashy

It’s gotten to the point where I honestly believe Obama could request every policy you ragmuffins demand…and you’d oppose each and every one of them even if you yelled for it a minute before.

for all of your whining, boasting, and bragging about the TP and the “majority” it represents (majority of what is my question…Loon of the Month Club?) .. the question must be asked…what exactly did the TP accomplish in Congress in 2011?

C;mon..other than succeeding in dropping our credit rating, raising taxes on the Middle Class and givning the wealthy and the corporate elite even better tax benefits, just whatn ‘accomplishments” has the TP done for anyone?

Tea Party and members = Bunch of whining, no solution, know nothing losers if you ask anyone of sane mental stability

        • Raggs

Sane and stable sure leaves you out Flashy.
Oh and BTW the tea party constricts king oblamas power grab-n-rule agenda in which is a blessed thing.

          • Flashy

Raggs…I read day after day..cut this, slash this, impeach him, etc etc and not one shows any depth of thought whatsoever. Shallow, divisive, irrational, non constructive in every way.

The Tea Party has accomplshed NOTHING. It has as its agenda doing the bidding of the wealthy eilte and corporate special interests to leach off of America and hang the burden on the working middle class.

        • Jefferson Thomas

Solutions are provided…you just don’t like them.

If there is a problem, government makes it worse. If there is not a problem, then government will create one and make it worse.

Cutting and dismantling this leviathan abomination called government down to a size that is 1/10 of the size it is now would not be enough.

Sell off all government and state owned land except that land where the representatives of the people meet. Use the money to pay off the people who were duped into social security and other scams by government and get them out of every person’s life excepting when a objective crime is committed harming a person, their property, or contract.

You can choose to do business with a corporation, wealthy people or not in a Free Enterprise society (I have not seen Ronald McDonald on a street corner lately with an uzi forcing people to eat his cheeseburgers and not those at Burger King). I can choose Pepsi, Coke, Dr. Pepper, juice, water etc. from many different companies, or collect rainwater to drink if I choose. I don’t have a choice concerning “government education”. I pay taxes if I have children or not, whether or not I send children to a private school, as a renter or land owner I pay. If however you don’t submit to government monopoly, agents of force will show up and incarcerate you.

Can ya connect the dots falshy?

          • Flashy

Yep…and what you are proposing is the creation of an oligarhy where the masses have nothing, a small percentage have everything..and the “trickle down” we’ll be getting is colored yellow…

Reducing the size of government simply to reduce it is nothing more than an ill-thought, shallow, extremist suggestion which solves nothing and excerbates the situation of inequality and one sided rules.

try this…in the past 30 years, we have had GOP “conservative” presidents 20 of those. During which the “conservative” agenda was in large part promulgated into policy. During this past 30 years, income inquality jumped, the deficit skyrocketed (except during the Clinton admin…a Dem. I might remind you), and the rich and corporate elite made gadzillions, and the middle class went backwards in earning power..AND had to pay the welfare bills stacked up by the 1%.

            Think about that…

          • Jefferson Thomas

            @ Flashy,

First let me get this out of the way…lol, hahahaha, ROFL.

We already have an oligarchy in government that is in league with large corporations. Where in my post do you see me saying that large corporations should be given special treatment over the rights of individuals?

What don’t you understand about a FREE ENTERPRISE SOCIETY(synonymous with free choice)?

Where in my post did I say I belonged to the GOP (I don’t… and I despise the republocrats and their corrupt hijacking of the machinery of government)?

My well thought out, deeply considered, rational solution, would omit one of the largest contributors to and causal sources of our problems…government.

There has never been a FREE ENTERPRISE CAPITALIST system in this country.

Take your democrat party line to someone who has been put through and given a graduation certificate from a government education center and present your “facts” to them. They are more susceptible to your type of propaganda.

The government is one of the main reasons for “income inequality” as you put it. They hold people back who don’t have a team of lawyers and government compliance personnel from being in competition with the big corporations of your oligarchy in league with the Republocrats.

Should someone who engages in more risk, works twice as much, and is innovative in products and in the market place have an income “equal” to a production worker who punches in and out and watches TV and drinks beer on on his time off? Who decides what is “equal” Falshy?
You? A government panel? The Market?

            Think about that

          • Jefferson Thomas

            @smilee,

What planet are you living on? Take your false dichotomy to someone who falls for the old republican or democrat choice (hence the word republocrat a choice of no choice).

I have been a Libertarian for over 20 years. I don’t want the Republocrat agenda or their “solutions”. I want them and government out of people’s lives altogether except for protection of the citizens from foreign invaders, protection from domestic criminals, and a judicial sytem that prosecutes criminals.

If you think that is what the republican party wants…you better take a second look at their big statist agenda.

        • Nadzieja Batki

Well just look at what those here who refer to the new health care law as Obamacare, It is almost identical to the GOP counter proposal to what they called Hillarycare in the nineties and in 06 Romneycare in Mass it was put into law but when Obamas pushed it through into law they took a 180 degree flip flop on their former position, of course they now say it is different, and there are minor differences but all three require you by law to buy health insurance. They are now even taking it to court and by summer we will see if their flip flop is right or a revelation that they were right in the first place if yhe court will support their previous position as proper.

  • Gary

Do not be fooled by what the candidates, in both parties, say in their campaign speeches and debates. Those are just words. Actions speak louder than words. Research the candidates. That means doing a little work. That’s right. I said that four letter word “WORK.” Look at their past voting records, accomplishments, backgrounds, the issues they supported, activities they participated in, books they may have wrote and the organizations they joined. Those things can tell you quite a lot about the person. If you are reading this you have the ability to do that research in the comfort of your home. The important thing is to get out and vote and try to encourage those who don’t vote to get off dead center and do so or we could loose this Republic the Founding Fathers started for us. Those who don’t vote deserve the government they get. They did just as much to put Obama in the White House and the politicians in office as the ones who voted for them. Apathy put Obama in the White House and Apathy will keep him there for another four years. APATHY IS THE GREATEST THREAT TO OUR LIBERTIES AND FREEDOMS! NOT OBAMA.

  • Tom

I say do away with the dems and reps and have everyone independent.
Maybe the government would be able to accomplish something

    • Ted Crawford

To do that without also changing the entire Congress, which in the case of the Senate is impossible, would require an entirely new defination of “Gridlock”!

    Question??
Why can’t Obama submit a bill to the house like everybody else and let it work it’s way back to his desk with all the modifications and let him decide if he wants to sign it or not???
Problem with just giving him the power to modify depts any way he wants gives him an open door to doing ANYTHING HE wants.
I believe he is now pulling a election “STUNT” togain votes on the coming election, and to do this would really show where the hold up is.
No where have I seen what he would do with this power that he ask for and his trustworthyness is in the tank as far as I’m concerned.

    • Smilee

Only congressmen can submit bills for consideration, The President can submit what he wants to Congress but they are not required to act on it. This is exactly what he has done. You really should understand how your government works before making these kind of statements

They should combine the ATF with the HS and then shut down both of them.

  • ranger hall

WE need a smaller Govt. Depts are formed by congress And the President to give their Buddies Big jobs as dept heads, Other jobs are given to Buddies, Buddies and other Party Helpers and family ETC

Combining Depts Is OK when all the EXCESS People are sent to the unemployment lines. BUT this in not the case, Seems Govt always can find ROOM for them. SO down sizing is OK when it is shown to save taxpayers MONEY. Yes and there is Depts we Could do without. But the Power needs these Depts to control the citizens. Govt workers most always side with the Govt. Hect thats where they get their Money, and Benifits.

All Congess needs to do is pass a law that forbids salmon from spawning in fresh water. President Obama informed Congress that the national debt limit must be increased by $1.2 Trillion to avoid default. If Congress doesn’t do that, millions of Americans will not be able to eat salmonm whose price is skyrocketing.

  • Bra

Funny the first six agencies he wants to start wit are all pro business!

    • Nadzieja Batki

The six agencies have nothing to do with being pro business but everything to do with Regulating businesses.

    • Dave

And he wants to make them more efficient. How do you have a problem. Are you just complaining to complain. This is what you asked for and when you get iit you backup and flip-flop.

It is not O’s job or any of his agencies to make businesses more efficient.
