Mandate On Contraception Outrages Religious Groups

The President Barack Obama Administration’s decision requiring church-affiliated employers to cover birth control led to an uproar among Roman Catholics and members of other faiths, as the regulation, which was finalized a week ago, has sparked intense debate, The Associated Press reported.

According to the news outlet, Federal law lays out several criteria for the government to determine which organizations are religious, as the massive network of religious-run social service agencies is not clearly identifiable one way or another.

Critics have noted that Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius chose the narrowest criteria for making the determination, and religious groups oppose the rule because it allegedly forces people of faith to choose between upholding church doctrine and following the law.

“It’s not about preventing women from buying anything themselves, but telling the church what it has to buy, and the potential for that to go further,” Sister Carol Keehan, president of the Catholic Health Association, representing some 600 hospitals, told the AP.

USA Today reported that the move by the Administration to require employers to cover birth control through insurance policies does not require churches themselves to cover contraception and no healthcare provider will be forced to prescribe the medication.

Hopefully when Mr. Obama is unelected this November, he can take his HC BILL with him as he prances out the door.

Can anyone explain to me what the primary role of the RED CROSS is today?

Australian arm of the RED CROSS offered to buy the copy write of an e-book published in 2001 by Michael Miroslav Cic Science Fiction/ Philosophy e-book Titled: DIALOGUE WITH KONDA: Universal Philosopher published by Zues Publications, Queensland 2001 ISBN 1 876882 530

NEW GOD COMES TO ST ARNAUD to compete against which God? Is it ok to have free enterprise in religious beliefs in the USA?

I recently met an author living in St Arnaud in Victoria 3478 his name Michael Miroslav Cic who has written about a new kind of God …A god of incomprehensible quality of intelligence, friendship, love and beauty…This particular “god” most certainly is NOT related to the god of the “Old Testament”; nor is it related to ANY organized religion whatsoever. Nevertheless, it implicitly “belongs” to MINDS like those of Socrates, Aristotle, Einstein and Tesla…..This UNKNOWABLE SUPERMIND does not share mankind’s “intellectually-induced faith; no religious “belief”…. it is not interested in prayers or temples-except for their beautiful architecture. Its “DIVINE meaning-field SOFTWARE” of constant-ecstatic-delight; is NOT related to the existence of SELF-CAUSED or SELF-INVENTED witches, devils, angels or hell…nor is this god responsible for starvation, sacrificial offerings, ‘after life’ rewards; superstitions, slavery, prostitution. Injustices and/or INTENTIONAL cruelties and perversions.

To quote Einstein: In this sense, and in this sense only, I belong to the ranks of the devoutly religious men” I wholeheartedly agree! He writes….his free writings will be released soon for further discussions as he wishes to offer his findings …his two discoveries which have escaped so many neuroscientists’ research findings to date.

Incidentally the Australian arm of the RED CROSS offered to buy the copy write of his e-book published in 2001 his Science Fiction/Philosophy e-book Titled: DIALOGUE WITH KONDA: Universal Philosopher published by Zues Publications, Queensland 2001 ISBN 1 876882 530

Funnily enough AMAZON doesn’t have it. See if you can find it.

When you deal with normal people, common English is good enough. When you deal with Uncle Scam, expletives seem to work better. When it comes to episode after episode of Uncle Scam (via the White House), whatever works best is that which should be used to ‘communicate.’
Is Obummer running out of ideas? Is there any individual or group that Obummer hasn’t insulted yet? I can feel the ‘compassion’ and the ‘hope and change’ and ‘transparency’ from here. It stinks, and it is nothing less than proof that we have the worst administration in American history.
The one thing I can’t sense from this criminal administration is any sense of CHARACTER. It might pass as Al Capone-type character (in the Chicago area). However, people who don’t have their heads rammed up their lower orifice don’t have to be told that something is terribly wrong in Washington.
Utopians, aren’t you getting tired of being expected to believe that you elected a god? Now churches are involved in rejecting Obummer’s mental fantasies. Are little kids next? WHAT does it take for you pathetic utopians to understand the depravity and paranoid arrogance that’s living in Washington? I have a nasty feeling that even this level of stupidity and muscle-flexing is peachy keen and totally above suspicion. You’d better get off the train tracks, folks. Even a dog knows better.

Many of these employees are not Catholic and these institutions serve the general public not just Catholics and there is no additional cost in premiums for these coverages so there is no additional cost to the employer. This just seems like the Catholic Hierarchy wanting to force its will on Non Catholics when it is not their religion. Does freedom of religion trump the freedom of the individual?? Further more the catholic church has not been able to force this on Catholics as I understand at some point in their lives 80% of Catholics have admitted to using contraception. This smells of religion gone amuck!!

Good post, you show there are two sides to this coin. Will any church step up and support children when the parents are not able to do so? Doubt it, have not seen much of this.

perhaps you don’t look in enough places….and it’s not like advertised what each does, they do it unheard and unseen by those outside the Church because it needs to be done, not because they need you to know they are doing it. Kind of like charity in your home, if you advertise what you give and to whom, looks like some sort of idiotic boasting and takes away from the act of giving.

Remember it is freedom of religion and not freedom from religion, which you 2 bozo’s are advocating. Care to cite a source on that nonsense smilee or are we to take your word for this? Talkinabout is misguided. Since churches give food, clothes, hope, and many other things to the poor, this means this help also goes to their children as well. Some give counseling and some even have orphaniges for children who have lost their parents. So I guess you 2 bozos have been proven wrong again. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

P.S. You 2 sound about the same. Do you watch the same lib sites or what?

Smillee& thinking about, Let me get this straight. The Catholic church is forcing their will on non-Catholics by not prividing for contracetion in their insurance because it goes against their religion. All the church is saying is they won’t pay for it, no more, no less.
It seems the government is forcing their will on the church, even though their right to worship is protected by the 1rst amendment.
I’ve looked all through the Bill of Rights and found no reference to a right to contraception or birth control.
