All Commenters Are Equal

March 11, 2013 by

Dear Bob,

Why are you separating FB (Facebook) and regular posters? Why are they on top and the rest of us peons have to scroll to the bottom to post? Is there something special about FB that you don’t find special about the rest of us?

Moonbeam

Dear Moonbeam,

It is due to the technical vagaries that occur when combining Facebook posting with the website software. All commenters are equal and equally appreciated.

Best wishes,

Bob

lol’s ….we’re all equal, just that someone’s got be be on top and someone on the bottom….
only in America does it need to be explained

I am a Canadian. In my opinion, Facebook is a US Government information gathering operation, an electronic or internet drone as it were. Everything that is posted on Facebook goes to the US information gathering community. I suspect that the same is true of Twitter and other similar groups. What do they use the information for? Beats me! If they want to find out my true opinion of Odogma Augustus and his crew of murderers and prevaricators, send me a survey by eMail, everyone else does. As for facebook being on top or on the bottom, I don’t care, anymore than I care whether dandruff is on my head or my butt. Either way it’s a nuisance.

Hi Hedgehog, I hope the government enjoyed the vacation pictures my wife posted on her facebook page.

      • Hedgehog

Hi JimH: They probably did if the pictures included any, bathing suit shots, nude shots, or prurient content. It’s boring as hell watching those monitors all day. If they they don’t get some interesting shots on Facebook, they probably sneak over to You Tube!

I agree on that, liberty and Facebook always seemed rather incongruous to me.

really?your worried about who’s on top!!..let me guess, you whine like that in a bedro,,,,oh never mind, you’ll whine about that too!

I’ve never trusted FB or any other “social media.” I never wanted “my face on a book” any more than I ever wanted a “book on my face.” If email isn’t good enough, tough. Don’t trust governments or employers or crooks (difference?) while using FB. Makes their agenda too easy. Oh sure, they can still hijack emails but you’ve got to think it’s more difficult and time consuming.

MoonBeam, for one thing, it allows people like me to post on here when I can’t even sign my name on Facebook. I did enjoy being on there until they changed their terms of service, then used that change to block me and delete my account. The block was not due to anything I had done online at any time, but something I had done before Facebook came into existence.

I would prefer the regular postings be on top and the facebook on bottom but I am adaptable and will enjoy either arrangement.

I’m now finding it difficult to read the comments because of the little rectangular box with things like facebook and google, etc, listed. It covers the right side of the comments and I have to continuously scroll up and down in order to read. With my arthritic hands it’s extremely irritating.

  • ONTIME

    Dear Bob,

Why don’t you drop FB and use Disqus and cut to the chase….

  • nobodysfool

I don’t like discus–it won’t let me sign in. It tells me someone else already has that e-dress, and I’m the one who has it. I like this comment device because it is easy to post to. I just bypass all the FB comments.

the scrolling from the bottom certainly makes getting off topic a challenge …
if only it read from right to left, too
