A Koch And A Smile

March 1, 2011 by

A Koch And A Smile

I set a task for myself this past weekend. Well, I set a couple of tasks for myself this weekend; but one of them did not involve drinking beer and eating food which would so enrage Michelle Obama that she would get up from her 1,500 calorie plate of ribs and fly back from her latest luxurious sojourn to lecture me on the evils of eating… well… like she does.

I thought I might sift through the rage which the Democrats and their union thugs spew at the schoolchildren and concerned residents of Wisconsin and pick out the most creative epithet which has made its way into the repertoires of the mass of mouth-breathers fronted by Service Employees International Union gangsters and backed by President Barack Obama himself.

Regular patrons of the Personal Liberty Digest are well aware of the mendacity with which liberals from the lowliest knuckle-dragger in the SEIU battalion to the millionaire sock puppets in the mainstream media defame conservatives. My personal favorite: “teabagger.” Listening to some self-important, liberal-talking hairdo use a sexualized epithet to describe people who don’t live according to Democrat Party talking points is always such a treat.

Of late, however, the drones have been issued a new pejorative to propel at their intellectual betters. I caught it tumbling out of the blowholes of some of the union thugs trying to do to Wisconsin what they’ve done to Detroit:

“Koch whore.”

Hey, it’s a little double entendre! See—because there are people who sell their bodies for cocaine, but the conservatives fighting to save the children of Wisconsin, jobs for their neighbors and American prosperity from the Democrat/Union thug Axis have sold their souls to the Koch Brothers—get it? How marvelous! How artistic! How obvious it is that most of the Democrat/Union thugs have no idea who the Koch Brothers are (much less what a “double entendre is”) beyond “evil because Rachel Maddow says so.”

Of late, the Democrats have had their media working overtime to enlighten their masses. An obviously coordinated smear campaign has stretched from the usual outlets like The New York Times to more isolated corners of the media world; like the moribund remains of The New Yorker and the racist lynch mob at Common Cause.

One Democrat named Ian Murphy, noted for an online rant entitled “F*** The Troops,” even went so far as to place a prank phone call to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker while posing as David Koch. After a reported 20 minutes of indelicate prodding by Murphy-as-Koch, Walker revealed that he wants the best for his State; which is anathematic to the Democrat/Union cabal.

Rather than feel deflated by Murphy’s failure to flimflam Walker into making a comment reflecting their own increasingly unhinged and violent rhetoric, or even deplore Murphy’s underhanded (and unsuccessful) duplicity; Democrats managed to convince themselves that story was all about Koch’s ties to Walker.

None of the mainstream media focused on the fact that Koch never actually called Walker—the caller was a de facto Democrat operative. So, a liberal lied (again), failed in his objective, and they all declare victory? Um… congratulations?

Just who are the Koch Brothers? Who are these bugaboos who inspire liberals to check under their beds and sleep with the lights on? Charles and David Koch are, in actuality, the primary owners of Koch Industries, a privately-owned conglomerate with roots in industries ranging from paper to petroleum. Their multibillion dollar business currently provides jobs to nearly 100,000 people.

Likely spurred by their enormous success (not to mention the success their efforts have delivered to others), the Kochs have donated time and resources to the conservative movement in order to facilitate a push for greater economic prosperity for people beyond their circle of cronies. Given the Democrat Party’s increasingly strident opposition to free markets and free people, the Kochs have earned proverbial—and literal—crosshairs on their backs.

In a sense the Kochs are similar to Democrat sugar daddy George Soros, except none of the recipients of the Koch’s largesse have:

  • Called for the murder of Supreme Court Justices and their families. (Common Cause)
  • Claimed perjury by a Democrat President should not be a cause for legal action. (Moveon.org)
  • Provided material support to Islamofascist terrorists. (Lynne Stewart)
  • Provided funding to eco-terrorist groups. (The Tides Foundation)
  • Murdered police officers. (Mumia Abu-Jamal and Troy Anthony Davis)

Maybe I should work on my Soros impression; then phone the White House. I’ll bet the President takes my call.

Ben, You’re a man after my own heart(excuse the pun). Thas’ wat I been sayin’ for over a week now.

What’s Really Behind Leftist Attacks on the Kochs? The facts is that the left is desperate for their own Soros of the right. The left has taken shots without a lot of sucess at Rupert Murdoch, whose donations stay in the million dollar range, not the hundreds of millions. The vast majority of organizations on the right today run on donations from middle class America, not from top-down sources. The left needs someone like caricature of the Kochs they create to exist, just so that they can point to them as an example of the real evil money behind everything that’s happening. They desperately want to believe that someone, somewhere, used ill-gotten money to create the Tea Party movement out of thin air.

The Kochs are very unique individuals — anti-communist libertarians, not establishment conservatives — who give to very specific projects, and are open and consistent about those projects. Where Soros runs his funding through a shell game of other foundations and organizations (where donation A directly correlates with donation B) to keep his name out of it, recognizing how toxic his association really is.

There’s another, deeper undercurrent as well. Affluent Americans are Barack Obama’s most secure class of support. They have stuck by this president at three to six times the rate of all other income groups since early 2009, based on a RealClearPolitics analysis.

It’s a familiar story that wealthy voters have moved toward Democrats in recent years. But the remarkable steadiness of Obama’s affluent support has continued with little notice. The national media has instead heavily covered Obama’s tepid flings with populism.

If you listened to the MSM or the leftist scribes, ‘You would think Obama’s rich support was running to Republicans. It’s not.’

The Right gets donations from Middle Class America? Is that the same Right that has been shipping jobs overseas and laying people off in spades thus mocking the American worker? You really think the Koch’s are not a top down source of money for right wing causes. Do you really think the working Middle Class is giving lots of money to the Right who created misery for them? You are delusional Jeff. Then you go on to say the wealthy voters are moving towards the Democrats. Maybe that is true but not for the reasons you think.Even the wealthy want to make honest money and many of them are getting away from the Republican elites who sacked this nation with all their financial schemes. It could be that the Democrats (with all their faults) still represents a wider variety of Americans. The Right still has their Country Club image where they think they are better than everyone else.

Ben Crystal’s use of the word ‘thugs’ to describe the working men and women who teach the children and police the streets, just because they have banded together in unions in order to protect their job rights and security is very telling and absurd at the same time. We just heard reports yesterday that Walker and his people had considered sending in actual thugs to cause trouble among the protesters and try to discredit the movement. Be honest Ben,and maybe I’ll read your articles.

        • DaveH

No, Denniso, he wasn’t describing the “working men” of America. Ben was describing those men who get ahead by working less and taking their money from the real working men by grouping together in mobs and harrassing those who would gladly take their places and those who provide them with jobs.

          • Jana

THUGS! We have all seen these thugs in action too. The ones who get out in the middle of a peaceful demonstration and stir things up. THUGS. They are generally sent in by the union bosses to make sure ‘things’ keep moving in the direction that the bosses want them to go. They are paid to go in an agitate.
If you don’t think they send these thugs in, then you are either naive or blind.

          • vicki

Let’s introduce Denniso to one of those “working men”.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzxej98WBVM
The attacker is seen with a bull horn at 1:10 in the video.
The actual attack occurs at 1:45.

On a side note the Union man in the yellow shirt that has the bull horn at 0:45 seems to be chanting with the crowd “Unions make us strong” which is interesting because it directly implies that without unions we are weak. Thus you clearly see the victim mentality that is so prevalent in liberal / progressive thought.

As some of you know chanting is one of the techniques of brainwashing.

          • vicki

And cause I am feeling particularly nice today I want Denniso to meet another of those “working men”.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmk_HZYhlJs

Interesting to note is 0:28 in the video where the attackers turns and says something to a police officer who then moves to block the path of those attempting to apprehend the attacker.

          • vicki

But wait. There’s more for Denniso.

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy9wy70Xj9Q

Of course it is not clear if he is one of the “working men” but he sure is mean.

          • Jana

            vicki,
Those were excellent examples of UNION THUGS at their worst. These brave men picking on women and cold cocking men. Yeah, they are really brave bullies.
Tells me that if I ever go to any type of protest I will take my pepper spray. These men should have been sprayed!!!

          • Troy Simmons

Well as usual the misinformed and the idealistic intellectual have come together again to spew misinformation. The unions don’t ride on the backs of the taxpayer or the consumer. Listen to the word used in the news media…The Governor want to make the unions pay more for their pension…OK they pay for their pension all ready…..yes their paycheck comes from tax revenues..so friggin what…your paycheck comes out of my pocket when I buy something..thats if I can find an American made product to buy at WalMart…cuz I can’t afford any place else. The goverment workers unions pension comes out of their w=already low pay check…they take a larger pension for working to protect you and serve you and your kids.. because lets be honest would you try and teach your neighbors kids anything for 45,000 a year and not have something to look forward to. Now what the Governor really wants is to take away collective bargaining rights….You say good, those union bastards force the poor weak Gov. or business owner to give them perks and goodys that the “hard working man” like yourself would never ask for or accept even if offered. Bull….the term bargaining is just that…I ask for this you ask for that…we compromise. We both agree to the terms done deal…there is no give backies on Wall Street…as Congress told us a contract is a contract..unless it is made with a union worker then it can be broken right…..It first starts with a minority whom it is OK to vilifie. They are the reason for the bad that happens…its their greed.. their corruptions of the system that leads us down this decline…..Yes the word can mean anything when used for some corrupt purpose…but all suffer…everyone good, bad, right, left, poor …the rich don;t really suffer…they have the government to take care of them…they are not cutting their tax breaks or give backs….just the worker, union and non union alike. I have spent my life either serving my country (24 yrs military service), as a city government worker ( 8yrs) and then I got smart and went in to a better paying field…Plumbing…I’ve worked both union and non union…Union is better…..one of the reasons is the collective bargaining and the defined pension system. I WORKED 4 YEARS NON UNION BEFORE THE COMPANY EVEN OFFERED HEALTH OR A 401K. I had to beg for 20 cent heard how the company was hurting…yet the owner bought a new esculade every year and added on to his mansion too. THe union company I have worked for paid me good wages and benifits and still was able to be #5 in profits in the state of Texas..a right to work state. So what is your companies excuse, what is your States excuse for bad business practices and greed..is blame the union

          • Jana

            Troy Simmons,
Sure, keep believing your own lies.

        • Disgusted

Denniso, You are saying untruths. Walker said they didn’t even consider the “idea” of putting hecklers in the croud to stir up trouble when it was “suggested”!

Another consideration for you is that “Collective Bargaining” isn’t allowed for Federal Union Workers. That is why Obummer can’t put his comfortable walking shoes on and join the foray! Can you imagine the trouble he would have if he protested for the right to collective bargaining for state union workers when federal union workers aren’t even granted that right to begin with. And…..if…..the federal union workers can’t have it why do the state union workers?

Collective bargaining is a way for unions to hold the state hostage until they get what they want. The only thing the unions are really pissed about is that the workers will have to physically write them a check if they want to be a member of the union, no more automatic withdrawl from their paychecks and auto deposit into the union bank accounts! When it comes time for that worker to write that check out for “whatever the dollar amount is” I bet they think twice about it. That is what the unions are scared of.

I want to know if we can start a class action lawsuit against these Democrats for dereliction of duty! They need to get off their “you know whats” and get back to doing their job!

          • http://PersonalLibertynews JOHN KING

The day that the Unions are made to PROVE!! they are even worth spraying down if they are on fire, is a day we will never see, I can say with all cirtainty that when we get rid of that BO at the White House, the American People will find it easyer to find jobs that pay a fair wage for an ‘HONEST’ days work, then our children will start LOearning because EVERY Teacher will have to do thier JOBS or look for something else to do!!!, it has been proven that if the Parents take the time to HOMESCHOOL the grades are at the highest level,

          • Jana

            Disgusted,
There is a group of people trying to recall one of the “Cowardly Dems” from their district at this time. I sure wish them luck.

I have noticed these unions sure seem to have a lot of money to ‘donate’ to the candidates of their choice. Where do they get this money? From the workers/members and us.
These union dues allow the union bosses to elect and buy the politicians who negotiate the laws for their compensation packages. They of course buy the politicians who favor unions and who will do as they are told. They then own these politicians. It keeps going in a circle, and the taxpayers then have to foot the bill for their pensions which the unions also take a portion of. Unions still have to abide by the laws, thats why their bought and paid for politicians pass laws to make what they do legal.
It’s a rigged game that has led to public employee benefit packages and pensions that are bankrupting state after state across the nation.
All of this is called power, so now they are acting like bullies. Well, we the people can ban together to stop this, as we are powerful too.

          • Dan az

Using a figure of $100,005 for average teacher compensation in MPS and an average yearly workload of 195 days, these teachers cost approximately $513 per day in salary and benefits to employ. Spread over 5,960.3 full-time licensed teachers in the district, this adds up to $3,057,634 in daily expenses.

The average teacher’s total compensation in Madison is $74,912, according to the Department of Public Instruction. Each day costs $384.16 per teacher. The district has 2,370 teachers.

These figures don’t include administrators and support staff, many of which got an unexpected paid days off thanks to the week’s protests.

          • Laurie, Haslet, TX

Does not need to be a class action – A single person has already filed a lawsuit against his dem cowardly Senator. Although it would probably be better to have a class action.

      • barbm

the jobs have been taken overseas because unions drove overhead so high they couldn’t make a profit and because the govt has such an iron fist with their stupid regulations and impossible to understand tax laws. perhaps some will come back if we can get the unions out. lay-offs are due to both the dems and the rinos nearly bankrupting the country. if we don’t cut back on the budget now, when. that’s a serious question, not a rhetorical one.

      • Steve

Actually it has been leftist policies that have pushed jobs overseas – backing PLAs and other Union schemes to inflate labor costs, forcing US businesses to hand out unnecssary and exhobitant ‘benefits’, ever restrictive requirements the more people you employ, etc, etc, etc.

    • 45caliber

I think you nailed it. And the lefties hate it!

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

      Dead On Jeffh! :)

    • Kinetic1

      JeffH,
Mr. Crystal describes liberal scorn for the Koch Bros. as
“Likely spurred by their enormous success (not to mention the success their efforts have delivered to others), the Kochs have donated time and resources to the conservative movement in order to facilitate a push for greater economic prosperity for people beyond their circle of cronies.”
      You claim that
“The Kochs are very unique individuals — anti-communist libertarians, not establishment conservatives — who give to very specific projects, and are open and consistent about those projects.”
Yep, they’re angels. Sure, their businesses are ranked among the top 10 polluters in the nation. So they have given more money than eve Exxon-Mobile to disprove climate change (often quietly through political front groups.) And yes, Charles Lewis, the founder of the Center for Public Integrity, a nonpartisan watchdog group, said,
“The Kochs are on a whole different level. There’s no one else who has spent this much money. The sheer dimension of it is what sets them apart. They have a pattern of lawbreaking, political manipulation, and obfuscation. I’ve been in Washington since Watergate, and I’ve never seen anything like it. They are the Standard Oil of our times.”
Other than that, and the fact that their money is behind the “grass roots” TEA Party movement (though they do their best to keep the family name out of the public eye,) and it’s clear to see that they are just two honest men who have been unfairly maligned.

Really guys, you point to George Soros every time something happens that you’re uncomfortable with, but the Koch Bros. are just victims of some sort of smear campaign from the left? Their corporate spokesperson denies any connection, physical or financial between the Kochs and the TEA Party or Americans for Prosperity, but their own man in AFP admits that David Koch is on their board!

Need more from people who know them? How about Bruce Bartlett, a conservative economist and a historian, who once worked at the National Center for Policy Analysis, a Dallas-based think tank that the Kochs fund, said the Kochs are “trying to shape and control and channel the populist uprising into their own policies.” And according to a former Koch adviser, “They’re smart. This right-wing, redneck stuff works for them. They see this as a way to get things done without getting dirty themselves.” Sure sound like they’re open, honest and out front with their activities, doesn’t it?

Now I’m certain that none of this will sway most of you loyal readers of PLD. Many of you will feel a bond to the Kochs when you find out, assuming you didn’t already know that their father, Fred was one of the original members of the John Birch Society. Yes, the guiding force of these two boys once wrote “The colored man looms large in the Communist plan to take over America,” and that Communists would “infiltrate the highest offices of government in the U.S. until the President is a Communist, unknown to the rest of us.” I guess he was your own Nostradamus?

So many Libertarian movements look to the Kochs. The TEA Party, Americans for Prosperity, The John Birch Society (though the boys have moved on), even Glen Beck credits information he has received to Charles Koch. Funny then that their father owes his success to the Soviet Union. Yep, the big oil companies of the day made it impossible to get his start here in America, but the Soviet Union gave his company the opportunity to train Bolshevik engineers and help Stalin’s regime set up fifteen modern oil refineries. Funny how things work out.

There’s plenty more out their, but you can get a good start at http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/08/30/100830fa_fact_mayer

      • DaveH

I like that. The Libertarians must finally be gaining widespread attention evidenced by the fact that the Liberals are increasingly attacking us.
Question is — why are they afraid of us? We believe that people have a natural (or God Given depending on your faith) right to control their own bodies and property (that includes money). So Liberals would be free to prostitute themselves, gamble, or put poisons (drugs, etc.) in their own bodies to their hearts content.
So why are Liberals so afraid of us? Oh, wait, did I forget to mention that “controlling our own property” means that the Liberals couldn’t just help themselves to Other Peoples’ Money using the Force of Government?

        • JeffH

DaveH, you’ve been a champion for the Libertarians and have endured and been steadfast in your beliefs, endured jealous attacks…it clearly shows that Libertarian-ism is gaining a foothold in America based on the increased attacks on Libertarians. The Koch boys have become the focus of these attacks…the new “progressive” enemy are the Libertarians. The liberals are attempting to smear Libertarians with their heavy handed attacks on the anti-Soros, anti-communist (libertarian) Koch boys. Go figure? Well, not really!
When this smear fails, they’ll find someone or something else to “bitch” about.

        • Marv

Wow… I might agree with you, but I’m so busy prostituting myself, taking drugs, drinking myself into oblivion, eating Government cheese and trying to set up my girlfriend’s latest abortion that I just can’t pay attention.

Those of you who think that Progressives or Liberals or Democrats or fascist-pinko-commie-leftist-marxist-socialists…are somehow morally inferior to you better get down from your high and hypocritical horses. Take a look in the mirror. You ain’t that great.

          • DaveH

I’m not talking about inferior or superior, Marv. I’m talking about Freedom. The Freedom to live your life the way you choose as long as you don’t harm others or their property.
Unlike you Liberals, I’m not willing to force my life choices on other people.

          • vicki

Marv. Libertarian may be many things but hypocritical is clearly NOT one of them. As DaveH says we support your RIGHT to be free from constant government interference in all that you see and do.

Now if you really think that we are being hypocritical on some point(s) bring one and explain why. We will then explain the misconception.

          • Jana

Marv labels himself and he is proud of it. He doesn’t even realize that he belittled himself so badly. Wow, some intelligence.
In this case I think he could say my mother did raise a dummy.

          • get right

Daveh, you believe in a free market? Well dude, collective bargining is free speech. You are just attacking the teachers as you believe like the rest of the talking heads, that the teachers are all liberals. You want to restrict the rights of others to join together and have a collective voice. Or do you just want to cripple them fiscally? You should be happy that teachers are using the “free Market” theory to insure their wages and benefits. Was your ex-wife a teacher in addition to being a democrat? Libertarians are supposed to believe in personal freedoms, yet you attack only dems. That is like Ron Paul being against abortion.

          • DaveH

            Get Right,
I haven’t said a word about teachers. As usual you are putting words in my mouth.
Yes, I believe in educational freedom. I believe in the voucher system, so parents can send their kids where they get the best education. Obviously yours didn’t.
As I’ve said before, I have no problem with people bargaining in groups. I do have a problem with people harassing their potential replacements. I do have a problem with Union violence. I do have a problem with Union picket lines who harass customers. Seems like Unions can’t operate without using the last 3 tactics.
Their Freedom ends where my choices begin.

          • JeffH

Last time I looked at the Constitution(yesterday), collective bargaining wasn’t mentioned…under the 1st Amendment or anywhere else for that matter.
Collective bargaining is a fiscal issue, not a free speach issue.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            right on,
If I was a teacher and I wanted to teach in those districts, would I have a choice of whether or not I wanted to join the union??? NO!! They are forcing their beliefs on others! I know quite a few union members that are only members to be able to work. they HATE to pay the dues and have to cow tow to the union bosses!! Let any of them disagree with one thing the union says, and see what happens! They will not only be let go, they will be blacklisted and possibly be beat all to hell by the union THUGS!!!

          • eddie47d

Where are all those union thugs Joe? There must be alot of black eyes out there as vicious as we all are. If your rumor mills were true we’d see bloodied bodies on the nightly news. LOL

            Marv, you need help.

          • Jana

            eddie,
Go back up and look at vicki’s posts, she has given you 3 good examples of UNION THUGS.

Climate change / GLOBAL warming – has always been a FARCE.

There is NO SCIENCE to back it up
Do an internet search on CLIMATEGATE.

The scientist who created the FARCE has been proven that HE did not use PROPER SCIENCE and doctored his program so that achieved the FALSE results HE WANTED – that NO OTHER SCIENTIST has been able to replicate. He also made it impossible for other scientists to test the same samples – because HE KNEW they would know he was ALWAYS LYING.

George Soros: Tea Party Activists Being ‘Used,’ Obama’s ‘Lost Control Of Agenda’.

Asked to share his take on the coalition of conservative activists, Soros signaled his belief that “people in the Tea Party are very decent people, hard-working.” He added, however, that supporters of the movement “have been hit by a force” from a place which “they can’t fully understand.” Here’s what Soros went on to say: And — and they are being misled. And they are misled by people who are using it for their selfish purposes, namely to remove a — regulations and — and — and reduce taxation. So reduce taxation and regulation. And they are being used and deceived.

Soros did hit the nail on the head with that one. Those weakened regulations and multi-million dollars tax breaks for the wealthy Republicans really panned out didn’t they? Along with the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act. That certainly did wonders for our nations. Instead of creating jobs and improving the economy they took the bennies and shipped even more jobs over seas, hid their money in the Caribbean and then built bigger mansions. Maybe Soros’s crystal ball is clearer than the magic tricks that came out of the Koch’s hat.

      • JeffH

Surprise surprise, sounds exactly like the 4 year old that is jealous because the other kid has something he doesn’t have…wah, wah, wah! That’s not fair! Wah, wah, wah! Mommmmm…make him share…wah, wah, wah!

Ahhhh yes – repeal of Glass Steagel – that would be Bill Clinton. Seems you didn’t mention that !

      • DaveH

As I’ve told Liberals many times, we can jawbone all day long about whether regulations are good or bad, but the real proof is in experience. Here is a list of countries ranked in terms of their Economic Freedom (least regulated to most regulated). It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see the results of Government meddling in the Marketplace:

        • Angel

It doesn’t take a medical doctor to see the results of the unrestricted actions of Koch Industries in the Environment.

        • Carlucci

I see Hong Kong is still number one in economic freedom. That comes as no surprise to me, as I’ve been there several times. It is positively a fantastic city – and so gorgeous -!! Every time we visited, it reminded me of a merry little engine just chugging along. And everybody there looked happy. If money were no object, I would love to live there. Awesome place.

          • get right

Carlucci, they have a complusory pension fund, min. wges, anti-discrimination laws, state mortgage backer, export credit agency and tightly control their housing market. That should be too much socialism for you.

          • DaveH

Nobody’s perfect, Get Right. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive for perfection.

          • eddie47d

Including collective bargaining for a decent wage and a better life for those who are willing to fight for it….or does that upset your perfect world.

          • Carlucci

I was in Hong Kong when it was still under British rule. Back then there was a tax rate of 10% across the board, no matter how much money someone made. Hong Kong reminded me of Tokyo. Nobody looked poor there, and I never saw any homeless people. It was obviously a very wealthy city, and capitalism ruled. I’ve heard that it hasn’t changed much since the Chinese took it over, because they figure if it isn’t broke, why fix it.

  • s c

After reading your article, Ben, I suggest that you tone down your ‘attack.’ Most ultraliberal progressives who read it (or have it read to them) will be unfamiliar with some of the words. They tend to be such an emotional bunch (why think when you can ‘feel’ your way through life?). It takes very little to prove that point.
Beyond that, your tone may unhinge the “fleebaggers” in Wisconsin, who have sold their collective souls to whatever evil influence is in abundance there (unions, Soros, alinsky, etc.).
So it’s OK to love Soros, but the Koch brothers are lepers, eh? Feh on that crap. The next time you losers go to a Pizza Hut, remember that Soros doesn’t own Pizza Hut – yet. The old fart doesn’t own America – yet.
Down with the crazies in Wisconsin. Up with the rebels. And, while I’m at it, #%^&* anyone who dares to think that Comrade Obummer will do anything positive for America while he’s a prez.

    • JUKEBOX

I bet if Ben put on a fat suit and a bad wig, they’d pass him right into the White House, thinking he was Richard Trumpka, Obama’s other financier. Also, did anyone notice that Michelle fed the Governors a 2200 calorie meal? How’s that for promoting obesity?

    • eddie47d

No one owns America like the Koch Brothers Ms simpleton SC. We get two Kings for the price of one.

      • JeffH

Frustrated I see…could tell by the name calling!

        • eddie47d

            edie,
Soros is one who owns America. He owns the President, most news medias and the Democrat Party.

    • 45caliber

      s c:

“They tend to be such an emotional bunch (why think when you can ‘feel’ your way through life?). ”

I think you are definately right on this. Too many of them not only don’t think, they refuse to even try to think! It is far too hard work for them! It is much easier if they can “feel” something and let someone else think for them. And they look down on people who can and do think for themselves since if they did otherwise it would make them realize it makes themselves look as silly as they do to us.

    • DaveH

Sometimes, SC, I can’t help but laugh at some of your very witty statements, such as “or have it read to them”. Keep it up.

  • http://deleted Claire

As far as I am concerned, Soros and the Koch Brothers are pulling the strings–Soros for the Democrats, Koch Brothers for the Republicans. And by gosh, nothing will make me believe otherwise. Nothing.

    • Goose

Concise and to the point Claire.

      • Jana

        Claire,
I just praise the Lord that things are being kept almost even. I do think the liberals have more money on their side than the Conservatives. They definitely have more power, and more corruptions on their side.

        • Jana

          Claire,
You sound defeated. Conservatives have not been defeated. Smile. :)

          • http://deleted Claire

Jana–Me defeated? Never. Both parties have someone pulling their strings, someone in “the shadows.” I refuse to be a follower.

          • libertytrain

Claire, I do believe there is some puppetry going on – and will we ever really know who has control of the strings?

          • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain–Puppetry is correct. Seems like there is always a “driving force” behind government.

          • Jana

            Claire,
They call it a game of politics. The only problem its a joke, not a game, and the joke is on the taxpayers.

          • http://deleted Claire

Jana– You are right. The joke is on the taxpayers. But no more, I think we all have become much wiser to the wheeling and dealing of the politicians. We have to continue keeping tabs on all of them. Keep sending them emails, letters, whatever so that they know we are watching them. What gripes me is that I think a lot of them think we are too stupid to realize what is going on and this makes me even more aggravated. A lot of them think Americans will believe everything they say. I can tell you this–this old gal isn’t going to be “taken in” by any of them. Not anymore. They have to be held accountable at all times—to us, the taxpayers. And if they don’t “fly right” (pardon the pun) we will bug the heck out of them until such time they can be voted out of office. All the bitching and moaning about them will not do any good-we have to let them know we are sick and tired of the shenanigans so keep the letters, emails, etc. flowing. I never get any answers but I know they get my emails and letters. They probably think I am a nut but who cares, I don’t.

    • Al Sieber

      You got that right Claire.

    • Dagney

Yeah, and we’re all mind-numb robots who can’t think for ourselves, hmmmmmm? Well, I’m almost positive that’s true of most of the “useful idiots” on the Soros side. They’re either very pliant and stupid sheeple or evil like him.

      • 45caliber

Actually instead of sheep, I prefer to liken them to geese. You know, the old saying, “silly geese”.

        • JUKEBOX

I always heard: “Lost as a goose” & “A goose wakes up in a new world everyday”.

          • 45caliber

Describes them pretty well, doesn’t it?

    • DaveH

That, in a nut shell, Claire, is why we need to get Government out of the Marketplace. Without the assistant force of Government, there would still be Rich people, but they would have to please the consumers to amass their wealth rather than greasing the correct political palms. And enterprising people would be left unfettered to compete against those rich people, unlike now where those enterprising people must negotiate a series of legal obstacles set up to deter them from trying.
      Vote Libertarian!

      • vicki

        DaveH writes:
“…And enterprising people would be left unfettered to compete against those rich people,….”

Not only that the people wouldn’t need unions. They could form their own “union” which is called a corporation and hire themselves. They would have no need for unions and union bosses cause they could control their own working conditions.

        • Jana

          vicki,
And no more paying those union bosses and their cohorts the big money to organize and control other people’s lives. Wow what a wonderful concept.

    • vicki

        Angel:

When I was in college, I took a course called, “Enviornmental Geology”. It was stictly an enviornmental course, “don’t harm the planet”.

However, the first day the professor made a point I’ve always remembered. “When you do anything,” he said, “remember that ‘man’ is part of the environment.”

Too many of the ‘environmentalists’ take man out of the environement – except themselves of course.

        • DaveH

I believe, 45, that their are two main goals for most of the environmentalists:
          1) They want to turn our public lands into their own private ranch lands accessible only to those with the political connections.
          2) They want to redistribute our wealth to themselves.

Why else would they fight so hard to push us towards uneconomical energy sources? It is a fact that the richest countries are the cleanest countries, so by impoverishing our country they will actually be accomplishing the opposite goal from that which they say they support. I believe that their real goal is yet another ‘enrich the Crony Capitalists’ scheme foisted on the gullible masses. Oh, how easy it is to steer ignorant people around by the nose.

          • get right

Daveh,ok, just what do you think are the “right” sources of energy?? What would happen to your beloved Koch industries, when we do come off oil??

          • DaveH

My “beloved Koch industries”? Where do you get that? I know little about the Koch family and could care less. What I do care about is freedom. The Marketplace is the best determinate of whether or not an energy source is a viable one, not Politicians.
Someday, some of the alternative energies will be willingly accepted by the consumers. That day will come when oil supplies are drying up. We do not need the Government and their Crony Capitalists to save us when that event does come. Enterprising people (unfettered by politically motivated people) would happily rise to the occasion to provide economical and desirable energy solutions (for profit rewards of course), and Consumers would, without the coercion of government meddlers, make the decisions that suited them best.
We would be a happier country and a more prosperous country without the meddling of the self-interested politicians and their Crony Capitalists.
If you really want to stretch your brain and learn, get right, a good place to start would be the mises.org website.

          • 45caliber

I believe you are right. I’ve seen one report (for ther own eyes) that wanted the government to build sky high apartment buildings and put everyone in them with a wall around each city. No one allowed out.

Except them of course. After all, they are the ones concerned about nature. They were to get large ranch-style houses so they could live outside the cities and “make sure that nature wasn’t bothered by human influence.”

          • get right

DaveH, do you drink water from a well or from a government source? Do you grow all your own food, or do you purchase from a supermarket? Do you make your own electric or do you purchase from a utility? All the afore mentioned are government controlled to protect us from harm. Your free market theory sounds great, but like you the rest of us want to live healthy lives, not possible in this century without government as the polluters and those who are greedy, would allow bad water, bad food and unreliable electric. Government does have a place in our lives and untill you stop participating in the above, which you can’t you are a hypocrite.

          • http://?? Joe H.

No, actually they are government allowed monopolies!!!

          • Al Sieber

You’re right Dave, like the Sierra Club who steals your land through environmental laws and sells it for a profit.

          • DaveH

All the same old boring Liberal fabricated fact from Get Right.
If you looked at the Economic Freedom ranking that I linked to, you would see the facts rather than the conjecture offered up by Liberals.
Unlike you, Get Right, I don’t assume people are too ignorant to take care of themselves, especially in this age of easy access to information. If you can’t take care of yourself than get together in a group of like-minded lazy people and hire a firm to do the research for you. Leave the rest of us alone, including our money.

          • Dan az

            Hey Al
I used to rock climb allot and I ran into the sierra club on occasions. They where loud and obnoxious and threw more garbage on the mountain than the typical tourist. So much for being environmentalist.I almost cut their lines.

          • DaveH

By the way, Get Right, you make it pretty hard for thinking people to believe that you have our best interests at heart when you do so much personal attacking. Such a humanitarian.

  • newspooner

How can people rationally label rupert Murdoch as a supporter of constitutional causes? He has contributed to Hilary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and his corporation’s subsidary Fox News is hardly better than ABC,CBS,NBC, and NPR.

    • JUKEBOX

Murdoch is just like Donald Trump. He contributes to both sides, because he never knows when he may need their vote. That is being “FAIR AND BALANCED”.

      • 45caliber

Exactly. So do most “rich” people.

      • DaveH

Murdoch is a great American hero. Never before have I seen any News channel that has given air time to such a diverse array of opinion and news. Granted, it is nauseating for me to listen to the opinion of the Liberals on Fox, but where else can we hear so many different voices? Isn’t that supposed to be the role of news providers?
Fox Business Channel has two prominant Libertarians with their own shows — John Stossel and Judge Napolitano (Freedom Watch). Never before has any News Conglomerate given such a voice to Libertarian reason.
        Thank you Rupert Murdoch!

        • get right

Daveh, great American hero?????????????? Are you crazy? The man became an American because in 1985 we had a law that prevented a non-American from owning tv stations. He gave up his citizenship to be able to own media companies. Your idea of a hero is astounding. Money is your God isn’t it?

          • DaveH

Interesting that you would say money is my god, get right, when I have no problem with how much money other people have. You on the other hand obviously do envy the money of others. hmmm.

          • libertytrain

DaveH – exactly what caught my eye – was the familiarity, the style and the use of “dude” in the particular way she always used it. Anyway, nothing like having her back. It’s always good to have a little banter.
And on one or two rare occasions, I agreed with her on something.

Look around, these people are your neighbors, go to your church, their kids go to school with your kids. But don’t let that stop you from smearing them. Two very distinct things came out during the “fake Koch” phone call. First, Gov. Walker is a liar. This was never about money, it is about crushing the public sector unions, then the private unions. Second, Gov. Walker wants total control over the disposal of state owned property. I’ll bet my Union Paycheck that Koch Industries has them handed over to them on a Silver Platter.

Public sector unions NEED to be crushed. WHO, in your mind, is representing the TAXPAYER? You know, the people PAYING THE BILLS? The politicians? Yeah right. The Union THUGS, oh, I mean Union Representatives? Again, YEAH RIGHT. There is NO reason for a public sector union to exist except to fleece the (previously) sleeping employer….again THE TAXPAYER!!!

      • Patriot

Dagney, you are correct! Nobody has yet to answer the questions; why are there Public Sector Unions? Who are we trying to protect these folks from? Many of these members feel trapped with no way out, they do not have an option, if they speak out you see what happens, just look at all the thugs and intimidation that goes on when you think differently, nobody in their right minds would publicly oppose them. The taxpayer is here to help these folks, many are family members who privately say the system needs to be fixed, but feel they cannot do anything about this. Sounds like they are enslaved to me, give these members free well and lets’ see if the Public Sector Unions Survive.

Has Obama or anyone in his administration defended the taxpayer and our right to assembly, no! You ever wonder why! I do all the time; this struggle in WI is about the working people, middle class & liberty against the Public Sector Unions which is a form of Communism! When you do not want your hard earned money going to the very people you feel are destroying our Country then the people rise up, this is what is going on, most things are much simpler then the media and others want you to think!

        • Sprock

          Patriot,
Because the people at those work places were not being treated fairly. One of the municipalities near me make their employees work on National Holidays in an emergency for regular pay. In my state 1/4 to 1/3 of State and local municipality workers that work FULL TIME are eligible for some sort of Public Assistance. One of the Managers where I work told a female employee e few years ago that if she were a man he would knock her out. Employees are paid more because of who they know, not what they know.

You hit the nail on the Head with that one !, qapla’

    • peter robison

Very well said Sprock, your take on Walker is right on. Any one making a pay check who is opposed to Unions deserves what people like the Koch Bros. will do when the Unions are gone. They should read about working conditions in the 1800′s when there were no Unions.

    • JUKEBOX

Would you bet your Union leader’s inflated paycheck on that? They never stop getting paid, even when you myrmidons are drawing your strike pay.

      • 45caliber

He couldn’t afford his union leader’s paycheck. He doesn’t make a quarter of it …

    • Sprock

Dagney: The taxpayers are being represented by the folks that they elect to public office. If the politician that you elect aren’t doing the job hopefully you know how to fix it. And those elected individuals are on the same pension and health care plan as the Union workers. As far as Union Thugs are concerned they are not in public sector Unions. If you buy that load of garbage then I have some swampland for you to purchase.

      • Dagney

Right, the politicians are representing us as they would like to be represented. Sure, you might want to buy that swampland. You’ll probably get more satisfaction if you want to put your faith in that instead of putting your faith in politicians safekeeping the TAXPAYER’S money. What planet are you from?

        • JUKEBOX

I wonder if Sprock realizes who it is that butters the Democrat politician’s bread before they “NEGOTIATE” with those taxpayer financed unions.

          • Sprock

What is abundantly clear now is that Gov. Walker is so beholding to the Koch Bros.that he will stoop to any level to repay them.

          • JeffH

Sprock, can you be a little more detailed…you’re being a little vague here.

  • Ralph Lewis

Nice, piece, Ben. Hats off the the Koch brothers for having built a successful business in the face of an increasingly socialist state. As “Warrior” states above, they actually produce, whereas Soros has acquired the bulk of his money in currency trading, much to the detriment of a number of European countries whose economies he helped wreck.

Soros is the worst of the exploitative operatives of international finance. He has gamed the system – and like members of the CFR, the Fed, IMF and World Bank, is intent on deliberately destroying any semblance of a free market system to achieve the goal of financial and social control over we vast numbers of serfs worldwide. So far, the global Ponzi scheme has largely succeeded, but in the end, I believe it can never overcome man’s desire for individual liberty.

Most puzzling to me are left wing activists who, in cult-like fashion, never dare question the logic or reason of their collectivist masters. In fact, the Wisconsin demonstrators ought to be embarrassed for themselves. Screaming, name calling tantrums thrown by small children in shopping malls is bad enough. When we see this among large groups of adults in a state capitol building, it is indeed, bad form. Of course, name callng by the left is a typical response to rational discourse by the right. And that too should be embarrasing. But I guess we now have a shameless society, where mindless vitriol has become an accepted norm.

    • RayLand

Common on folks, y’all amuse yourselves with simplistic discourse trying make negative all speech from either side. Rather than indulge yourselves in hyperboly, can we not try and find common ground and and buld this country rather than snipe at each other. The unionists have agreed to some cuts and they need to listen to the arguments that are reasonable. The wealthy 5% who own 80%of the wealth of American like the Kochs need to develop “healthy” alternatives that leave the “unionists” with dignity and hope.

    • 45caliber

      Ralph:

I agree. In fact, I get amused at the liberal defense of Soros: “His business doesn’t pollute.”

Of course it doesn’t. He doesn’t run any businesses that produce anything.

      • JUKEBOX

I don’t agree that Soros doesn’t produce anything or pollute. He finances the production of Socialist propoganda BS, which pollutes the Capitalistic financial system.

  • John

Here is some perspective on how this is really working:

A Teapartier, Union Member and a CEO sitting at a table in Wisconsin with a dozen cookies. The CEO immediately takes 11 cookies for himself. The CEO then turns to the teapartier and says, “Watch out for that union guy, he wants part of your cookie.”

Thing is, had the CEO only taken eight cookies, the other two would be content to split the remaining four. The very rich lost control and got too greedy, and now our nation is unstable. Greed, like addiction, is hard to keep in check, but not doing so is disastrous.

    • Dagney

The sheer vapid ignorance of this post is a sight to see.

Please watch this video and read the COMPLETE article. Maybe you’ll learn something. Also, before replying and for the amusement of all GOOD Americans on this site, please give us your definition of “American Exceptionalism”.

On a side note, just a warning… If the communists and islamo-fascists all around the world succeed in their plans to bring down America, all you wonderful, loyal sheeple will be the first for the gas chambers simply because you will want a reward for being so loyal. Remember, you’ve thown in with EVIL. And, evil will be done to you.

Dagney, BRAVO, BRAVO…excellant link you’ve posted. Everybody should watch the video and read the article…it’s exactly what the socialists and commies do…this is a goog example of attacks on “American Exceptionalism”…wealth redistribution…the battle against capitalism…balancing the haves and the have nots…failed socialism, failed commuism and in the end the communists show their true colors by selling their “manifesto” for $5…isn’t that called crony capitalism?

It has never ceased to amaze me how Liberals can help themselves to the money of others while calling those others “greedy”.
The rich are “greedy” for wanting to keep their own money, but the Liberals aren’t “greedy” for wanting to take somebody else’s money?

      • Patriot

Bringing people to the left is bringing us all to Communism, why wouldn’t we all oppose this? Communism means a total destruction of the middle class, in this philosophy there are only the working lower class poverty or whatever your government and upper elites decides to give us. These political and business elitists form a complete monopoly and control over the poverty class, at this stage, there is nothing you or any of us can do. Who would want this? I will fight this way of thinking until my last breath; I believe that most patriots that love this country will agree. The hard work has started; lets’ finish our work and make our founders proud!

        • DaveH

          I agree.

Can the God and Satan find common ground? Can a capitalist and a communist find common ground? Can an entrepenueur and a union man find common ground?Only if you are willing to see it Satans, communists, union mans way.Otherwise you cannot. The reason I lump those (Satan, communists, union man) three together,is because they want control of negotiations or they will just refuse to come to the table. The left feels dignified when they control the negotiations, but when they do not they just refuse to come to the table.Time and time again historically this is true. All you have to do is read history books to note this. The history of the left is to only negotiate when they feel they have the upper hand.Cut and dried…

As far as the liberal chanting goes, they have always been the group of”It’s alright if I do it, but God forbid you do.” I am married to one. I know. And as far as unions go, all they do is protect the jobs of people that can’t hold down a job on their own, I guess somebody needs to babysit the useless ones. We should probably thank the unions I guess. They hire so many of the useless whiners and therefore keep them away from people in the non union sector that actually have to perform and do quality work to keep their jobs. I am glad I don’t have to listen to their crap all day. Things like, “I think I should get paid even though I don’t know how to do my job.” or “It’s not fair that I have to work 40 hours for 40 hours pay.” or “You can’t go to work because we’re on strike, and I don’t know who the hell the taxpayers are, but they’re not coughing up enough for me.” John states up further about the CEO, Unionmember and the Teapartier, it’s typical union cander. If everyone quit working for the company the ceo ran, he wouldn’t have any cookies, but the unions piss around and between them and the ceo, they make a killing. They pretend to help, but truly, they hinder and get fat on the back of the working man. The truth that always works is, if you don’t like where you are working, QUIT! Find a job you like and that likes you, Instead of trying to force companies through union crap, to pay you to do a job that, most often, you don’t like, where everyone is pissy or grousing about more time off and more pay. The true American way is to better yourself through hard work(God forbid), motivation(what’s that?), and if the job you are doing isn’t working for you, you have the right to go find another one. Free market, not only on what you buy or make and sell, but on jobs is what will keep this country strong. Not union crap or government interference or influence.

Getting in bed with Koch Industries is no way to govern. The benzene brothers (don’t forget their indictment for knowingly polluting the air with this cancer-causing agent that was erased by $800K contributions to Bush-Cheney) have quite a “hate America” agenda:
    1. Eliminate medicaid.
    2. Privatize power plants (usually with no-bid sales to… guess who)
    3. Repeal laws requiring municipal governments to disinfect their water.
    4. Sell off wetlands. Must everything be developed?
    5. Ban wind-power energy from states because it competes against their oil industries.
Remember when David Koch ran for vice president? He wants to end Social Security too.

George Soros may be very misguided but he never advocated gutting this country (and polluting it) for his personal profit.

    A Koch kind of world:
    Health Effects of Benzene Exposure
Benzene exposure has serious health effects. Breathing high levels of benzene can result in death, while low levels can cause drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heart rate, headaches, tremors, confusion, and unconsciousness. Eating or drinking foods containing high levels of benzene can cause vomiting, irritation of the stomach, dizziness, sleepiness, convulsions, rapid heart rate, and death.

The major effect of benzene from chronic (long-term) exposure is to the blood. Benzene damages the bone marrow and can cause a decrease in red blood cells, leading to anemia. It can also cause excessive bleeding and depress the immune system, increasing the chance of infection.

      I seriously doubt it.

I work in a plant that uses a lot of it. We make it to use. And if you could detect any of it anywhere you are better than the best instruments are. We also make a large number of other chemicals – many of them from benzine. And many of those you use. And are glad you can get them.

        • 45caliber

It is easy to detect. The human nose can smell about 3 parts per billion in the air. It is a very sweet odor. But you won’t smell it anywhere in the area of the plants here. In fact, you will seldom smell anything except fumes from passing cars. We are quite careful to insure that!

Some background on the Koch family

The story of how the Koch family amassed its wealth starts at the turn of the 20th century with the birth of Fredrick C. Koch. Fred was born in a tiny town in north Texas town to a Dutch immigrant and newspaper publisher. The historical record is not clear about the family’s wealth, but it appears that great-granddaddy Koch was not hurting for cash, because Fred Koch turned out to be a smart kid and was able to study at MIT and graduate with chemical engineering degree. A few years later, in 1925, Fred started up the Winkler-Koch Engineering Company with a former classmate, quickly developing and patenting a novel process to refine gasoline from crude oil that had a higher yield than anything on the market. It was shaping up to be an American success story, where anything was possible with a bit of elbow grease and good ol’ ingenuity.

The sky was the limit—until big oil competitors rained on Fred’s parade.

See, Fred was living through the Roaring Twenties, a time of big business. Sensing a threat to their royalty-revenue stream from Winkler-Koch’s superior refining technology, the reigning oil cartel moved in to teach the young Koch how the laissez-faire business model worked in the real world.

When he tried to market his invention, the major oil companies sued him for patent infringement. Koch eventually won the lawsuits after 15 years in court, but the controversy made it tough to attract many US customers. Just like that, Winkler-Koch Engineering found itself squeezed out of the American market. They had a superior product at a cheaper price, but no one to sell it to.

Luckily, there was one market where opportunity beckoned—and innovation was rewarded: the Soviet Union.

Stalin’s first Five Year Plan was just kicking into action a nation-wide industrialization effort, and the Soviet planners needed smart, industrious college grads like Fred Koch. The Soviet Union was desperately trying to increase its oil refining capacity, so oil engineers were especially in high demand—and well paid, too.

“We are the world’s greatest market, and we are prepared to order a large amount of goods and pay for them,” Joseph Stalin told an American journalist in 1932. Stalin wasn’t kidding. From 1926 to 1929, the Soviet oil industry bought $20 million worth of equipment from America. And Koch was about to get in on the action.

In 1929, after hosting a delegation of Soviet planners in Wichita, Kansas, Winkler and Koch signed a $5 million contract to build 15 refineries in the Soviet Union. According to Oil of Russia, a Russian oil industry trade magazine, the deal made Winkler–Koch into Stalin’s Number One refinery builder. It provided equipment and oversaw construction:

The first Winkler–Koch plants were set up in Tuapse in 1930. The cracking unit operated commendably, and would in the future be the type preferred by the heads of the Soviet Union’s petroleum industry when purchasing new cracking equipment.

In 1931, two Winkler–Koch cracking units were launched in Baku, another two in Batumi, and six at once in Grozny; the last had a combined refining capacity of 900,000 tons per year. In 1932, a Winkler–Koch unit commenced operations in Yaroslavl.

At the time, the Soviet Union’s oil industry was a total mess. Equipment built by Western engineering firms was always breaking down or didn’t work at all. Western engineers were constantly being accused of espionage or sabotage, real or imagined, and booted out of the country. Soviet workers suspected of colluding with the foreigners were simply taken out back and shot. Winkler-Koch made sure they were running a tight, effective operation. Unlike their Western competitors, Koch pleased his Soviet clients by ensuring top quality.

The Soviet oil planners were delighted with Koch’s refineries, which “operated commendably, and would in the future be the type preferred by the heads of the Soviet Union’s petroleum industry when purchasing new cracking equipment.” The Communists were so impressed they kept giving Winkler-Koch business and regularly sent Soviet engineers to train in Wichita. It was a sign of growing mutual trust.

By the time he got out in 1933, Koch earned $500,000, which was a ton of money for a kid fresh out of college. This money served as the foundation for the family’s future wealth, which Koch no doubt started acquiring at rock-bottom prices. After all, 1933 was one of the two worst years of the Great Depression—all assets were priced to go at 90% off. In the end, the capitalist-hating socialists ended up treating Koch fairly, way better than the monopolistic thrashing he got from his native land. So you’d think he’d at least have something good to say about the Soviet Union when he got home?

Nope, not at all. He hated the Commies real bad. But for some reason he kept it to himself until the late 1950s (possibly because he was still doing work for the Soviet Union). Then, after coming back from a trip to the Soviet Union in 1956, he flies off the handle. According to a 1956 AP article, Fred Koch was among eleven prominent residents of Wichita, Kansas, “who left for Moscow by plane today in an effort to convince the Russian people that Soviet propaganda about capitalists is untrue.”

Fred Koch came back a pissed-off anti-Communist and began supporting The John Birch Society. A much maligned group whose many prophecies have mostly come to fruition now.

He warned of a massive Communist conspiracy to take control of America, saying that the Reds were eroding American universities, churches, political parties, the media and every branch of government. “Maybe you don’t want to be controversial by getting mixed up in this anti-communist battle,” Koch said in a speech to a Women’s Republican Club in 1961. “But you won’t be very controversial lying in a ditch with a bullet in your brain.”

In 1961, Koch published a pamphlet called “A Businessman Looks At Communism,” in which he recounted his travels with a “hardcore Communist” named Jerome Livshitz. It was from him Fred Koch had first learned about the commie conspiracy to take over America:

The Soviet government saddled us with a communist party loyalist, a little man by the name of Jerome Livshltz to go around to our various installations with me. Livshitz had taken part in the revolution of 1905, and had spent twelve years in the U.S.A. as a revolutionary, most of the time in jails….

In the months I traveled with him he gave me a liberal education in Communist techniques and methods. He told me how the Communists were going to infiltrate the U.S.A. in the schools, universities, armed forces and to use his words, “Make you rotten to the core.” I believe that due to his American experience he was one of the original architects of the Communist plan of subversion of the U.S.A.

My associate and I pulled him from under an overturned car in Tiflis, and he was amazed. “Why did you save my life?” he said. “We are enemies. I would not have saved you. Perhaps when your turn comes, I will spare your lives.” He told me that if his own mother stood in the way of the revolution he would strangle her with his bare hands. This is the mark of a hard-core Communist. They will do anything—anything to further the cause of communism at home and abroad.

By the time his son, Charles G. Koch, had already taken over control of the family business. He appropriated his father’s abhorance of Communism and made it the basis for the family’s free-market business philosophy.

“Once, my father ran a business in the ex-Soviet Union, and all engineers who worked with my father were imprisoned by Stalin later. My father, who had experienced this, became an anti-communist and thought the value of economical freedom and prosperity was more important than ever before,” Charles said during an interview with a Korean newspaper in 2008.

Once he took over, it was clear that Charles had big plans for Koch Industries. He was going to push the limits of corporate growth by plowing 90% of the company’s profits back into diversifying to the max. It worked. The company expanded at an unreal rate: its revenues increased from $100 million in 1966 to $100 billion in 2008—that’s 1,000-fold growth!

Today, it operates thousands of miles of pipelines in the United States, refines 800,000 barrels of crude oil daily, it buys and sells the most asphalt in the nation, is among the top ten cattle producers, and is among the 50 largest landowners. Koch Industries also contributes to organizations like Institute for Humane Studies, the Cato Institute, the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, the Bill of Rights Institute, the Reason Foundation, Citizens for a Sound Economy, the Federalist Society, MIT and cancer research. The Koch’s are also proponents of free marketing, individual rights and smaller government.

The Koch Brothers and George Soros are both heros and villains to their respective supporters. Each has worked hard to amass great wealth and created controversy along the way. It’s obvious they both are opportunists with far reaching empires. Should they be respected for controlling so much of the earth’s resources or are they plunderers feeding their own egos? I think a little of both. To me it’s more about how they leave the areas they have exploited and will call them to task over that. Others will only envy their money and power.

Why don’t you list some hard facts to back up your meandering rhetoric?Tea party members don’t need anyone to do their thinking for them. They are aware of the stench coming from the White House since inauguration day, the putred smell of a dying, dying, dead economy murdered by the same perpetrators that are behind the scenes in the middle east protests, protests in Europe, far off India as well as right here at home. Although you may be blind too it, Conservatives see through the smoke screen with 20-20 clarity.

So far, from what I’ve seen in Wisconsin and California, there are too many who don’t care if they are broke – they just want to keep their own share coming to h**l with those paying the bills.

  • Bob G

I would never dream of reading a left wing web site. I don’t choose to read garbage. But Liberals…..they’re all over us. They can’t stay away. Why? I believe that deep down iside of themselves it’s jealousy. Conservatives are happy with their lives and their life decisions. Liberals are miserable with life and their bad decisions. Just like elementary school kids. If you percieve someone is doing better than you are, then mock them and try to destroy their image in front of your friends. Grow up Lefties.

    • 45caliber

There is another reason too. If you did visit one of those sites (I did once out of curiosity) you will find a blandness about their posts. They won’t allow any conservative notes or ideas there at all. It gets boring simply telling each other how smart they are. And that’s about all they do there.

    • karolyn

You’re wrong Bob. My life is fine. I am jealous of no one. I learn here, and I debate; and what’s wrong with that? But then maybe I’m not a liberal at all. Who really cares?

      • JeffH

K says “You’re wrong Bob. My life is fine. I am jealous of no one. I learn here, and I debate; and what’s wrong with that? But then maybe I’m not a liberal at all. Who really cares?”

Would that be considered a “double” contradiction…K is admitting that she is a liberal by saying “My Life is fine” in response to Bob’s pointed comment directed at liberals…then says “maybe I’m not a liberal”…which is it?…then says “who really cares?”…the whole response is obviou the “K” must care, whether she would like to admit it or not.

Sorry K, just having a little fun at your expense. If I make a profit from it I’ll be sure to split it evenly with you. LOL!

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

Jeffh, I don’t get these folks, who can’t seem to make up they’re minds which side of the fence they’re on!___ Isn’t indecision and lack of participation on the part of us, the American people, the very thing that us into the quandary we’re in, in the first place?

          • JeffH

AW, maybe liberals like K and BW are bi-polar…who knows. I’d just like to see this country and it’s people get back some of that fantastic “American Exceptionalism” rather than suffering with these communists pushing their “globalized” version of an un-exceptional America. A little American pride is what I’m talkin’ about.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

Jeff, Well in world according to the Liberals we have everything to be ashamed of here in the U.S.A. Our leaders refer to us as cowards and the POTUS apologizes more than he defends us. If I were a scholar, I’d define that as treasonous.

          • JeffH

AW, point taken, that’s what I get for bein nice? LOL!

  • JeffH

The liberals will acknowledge the roots of our nation, sing praises to the power of self-reliance and hard work, call it important because it is important to others, not to them. They will, instead, talk more enthusiastically about the freedom to “sacrifice” and the right “to give to others” in a true “bait and switch.” Imagine what they would be saying if the ideas of freedom and rugged individualism had never been “famous.” I’m sure you know, they’d be talking about the “famous” idea of “to each according to his need, from each according to his ability”. We would not have to listen to them defending themselves against “false” accusations that they are communists. They would be what they are: communists.

The liberal press has, for decades, failed to ask the fundamental questions that would convince Americans that a socialist system is right for them – for it is socialism that the liberals advocate. Questions like: What justifies taking the money of one person and giving it to another? Is using government to “solve” social problems the constitutional thing to do? What happens to the people whose dollars are taken away? How does that affect their standard of living and is it right for them to suffer so that others may enjoy the luxury of not caring for themselves? Are there better non-coercive ways for people to solve their “social” problems? What gives the government the right to confiscate the hard earned money of citizens? What about all the waste and corruption? How are these lost funds going to be recovered and why is no one making an effort to recover them? Name one government program that has been successful? Why isn’t the media making an issue of all the waste and corruption?

The liberals really don’t have a socialist ideology today. Their advocacy of socialism is a veiled effort to buy votes, and to accept force as a valid means of dealing with people. After all, who is it that the planners are going to plan? Behind their figures and charts they have yet to find the people who make this economy what it is – in spite of the fact that they claim to champion the ignored middle class.

We’ve come a long way since the founding of this country. American technology has given us a high standard of living, and we should be proud of America’s productive capacity. We should not forget, however, that freedom means economic freedom too, that in order for some men to have bread, other men must be free to have caviar, or to go to space, that we all, especially the poor, benefit from the riches accumulated by those far-sighted men who are able to bring those riches into being–by means of making all our lives easier. We should remember that freedom means economic freedom, and not bureaucratic freedom–and yes–a businessman has rights too. We should remember that hatred of the rich for being rich will not bring electricity, or television, or frozen foods into our houses, that envy never made any man rich or happy.

The undercurrent that is moving toward more freedom in our country is the last thing the liberals want and the one thing they must prevent…by gaining power. So they will use the language of freedom and patriotism to gain power in order that they can later take that freedom away in a morass of social responsibility and the coercive imposition of socialism. That they are uncomfortable with the language of freedom shows how far they have gone and how radicalized they have become. They are unfit to lead because they have no connection to the practical aspects of leadership. They are a bunch of radicals who have been out of the mainstream in a practical sense for decades and have never actually led…which was a problem for the Clintons as well…and why they lost power. They did not lead. Today, liberals can only educate in our schools and they do a poor job of that because they don’t teach skills but instead brainwash children and college students with “socially responsible” ideology.

This is the very reason they will lose. The people are not stupid…as Michael Moore believes.

    • 45caliber

There is ONE successful government program – the space program. And the liberals are trying their best to shut that one down.

      • karolyn

You want to cut everything else. What’s wrong with cutting the space program? I wuld rather see people getting help than going to the moon.

        • 45caliber

And I would like to see the scientists as NASA continue to develop things like the EKG, small home computers, etc. At least we can get some benefit from those. Giving money to someone so he can stay home and not work doesn’t help him or us.

Two more shuttle missions and it is over! Space exploration and the industries around it have given us technologies, pride and many new products that have enhanced our quality of life. This is just one of many examples of trying to bring the United States down to the level of other counties to minimize the impact of a financial collapse. All of us, including you on-the-fence-liberals need to wake up before we all find ourselves in breadlines or worse!

      • Lewis Munn

Probably because the space program could result in colonization of the L-5 sites in space, production of goodies to make life better on earth, and give a degree of independence not known on Earth anymore!

And be hard to threaten it, too, as people would want the new medicines and the other goodies space manufacturing could bring!

Koch Brothers Stage Sit-In At Mansion
WICHITA—In a move that has taken labor unions by surprise, David H. and Charles G. Koch announced today that they are “drawing a line in the bearskin rug under the original Matisse above the fireplace” and staging a sit-in to protest the protests in Madison, Wisconsin.

“We are outraged that a mere hundred thousand infuriatingly peaceful and persistent common people think they can push wealthy heirs like us around by not giving us what we want,” the co-owners of Koch Industries said in a statement released by their senior senior senior butler. “We are going to sit here in our grand ballroom (the one in the south wing, not the one in the east wing because it’s drafty) and wait them out until they agree to destroy themselves.”

The Kochs said the sit-in was a painful but necessary step, since their efforts to nullify the collective bargaining rights of public union workers in Wisconsin by buying off politicians and blanketing the airwaves with anti-labor ads have failed to produce the results they want. The secretive brothers, who control the levers of power in the Republican party, are occupying their time by running their several industries from makeshift suites, squeezing chunks of coal between their buttocks to make diamonds, banging on caviar tins with sterling-silver spoons and slowly descending further into madness.

“I never thought the plot of The Shining could happen in real life,” said one Koch housekeeper speaking on condition of anonymity. “But you should see what they’ve scrawled on the wall—it’s much worse than ‘Redrum.’ Then again, get a load of the size of this diamond!”

While security personnel, guard dogs, an alligator-filled moat and a ring of gullible but well-armed teabaggers have kept unauthorized visitors from entering the mansion, a liberal blogger managed to stage a prank call in which he claimed to be Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who is leading the fight there at the direction of the Kochs to effectively crush public unions. Unlike an earlier call, in which the same blogger fooled Gov. Walker into believing he was speaking to David Koch, this one was noticeably shorter.

“Hey guys, how’s it going out there?” asks the blogger in a recording of the call. Responds Charles Koch: “Listen you [expletive deleted], we paid good money for you to follow our instructions. Now put this thing to bed already. We’re several days behind schedule and David here is starting to mold.”

Responding to the Kochs’ sit-in, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka said he was confident the labor unions would prevail. “Size matters,” he said. “Our sit-in is bigger than their sit-in.”

Governor Walker couldn’t be reached for comment. A spokesman said he was at Madison City Hall applying to have his name legally changed to Ronald Reagan.

45_thats what I just said to the old man, everytime a Union worker such as a teacher gets a raise, it comes outta of our pockets. My kids are 29-30, I’d like to know why, We are still liable(paying taxes) for someone elses kid!!!!_

      • Lewis Munn

WOW! When I taught I made about $18,000. And even in engineering I never made over $30K. Retired, under the new ObamaCare I have to live on under $20K. And the government is forcing my electric rates to go up 400% in the next 2-3 years! Cost me $7,000 a year just for electricity!!

Is there a union for the involuntarily retired poor people to join and make more like $50K/year? Obama is talking of cutting our retirement to pay for more illegals, last I heard!

  • libertytrain

Angel, that’s the argument we always heard in Naples, FL. “My kids are grown. So why do I have to pay taxes for schools.” Even now, my kids are grown but it’s not a bother to me. But I’m not in Wisconsin either. :)

    • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain–I sent my kids to parochial schools and I still had to pay taxes for the public school system. I had a choice, and I made it. Sure, I had to pay taxes to send someone elses’s kids to public schools but it comes back to having a choice.

      • libertytrain

Exactly Claire – My parents paid for us to go to parochial schools as well and didn’t complain. We should want our kids to be educated and other kids to be educated – they are the future. I just wish they were as well educated in grade school and high school as we were :)

        • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain–I couldn’t agree with you more. Back then when I sent my kids to the Lutheran schools, there was a lot of racial undertones, fightings, etc. There were stabbings with scissors even on the buses! That is the main reason I started my kids in parochial schools. Nothing is what it used to be, and nothing is what it seems.

          • libertytrain

Claire – your words – “Nothing is what it used to be and nothing is as it seems” is so sadly true in my eyes as well.

          • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain–I will talk to you later….

        • Lewis Munn

Both of us worked to put our kids through school. We home schooled, we had them in a parochial school for a while, and several public schools. Fortunately they had grandparents interested in their education who helped.

I think if you talked with them they would say it was worth it to them, and they have put themselves through colleges, on scholarships and their own work. They had a good start and have built upon it with loans they pay off by working part time. And they are building for their futures and that of their children. I am proud of them.

          No Union help!!

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

Libertytrain, I don’t mind helping anyone, I don’t live in wisconcin, but I’m a little more than fed up with all these rising taxes, the buck has got to stop somewhere. Its all Washington knows is tax hikes.

      • libertytrain

Angel, I think the problem is the quality of what you get for your tax dollars these days. In schools as well. We had 35-40 kids in a class when I was a kid and the good Sister or lay teacher didn’t have assistants. We learned what we were there to learn. What happened in schools is baffling to me.

        • http://deleted Claire

libertytrain–Ditto. The word “quality” appears to have little meaning in a lot of workplaces. Things have sure changed. And not for the best.

          • libertytrain

Claire – and quality of products as well. Not so good. Nothing (or very little) is created to last from toaster’s to clothes, and on and on.

  • http://deleted Claire

Off the subject but—Democrat Attorney General Lisa Madigan from Illinois now says the state police must release the names of everyone in Illinois who is authorized to own a gun. The Illinois State Police
determines who gets a Firearm Owners Identification card, which allows people to own guns. The police have always kept this list private. But Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s office released a letter Monday night saying the information should be made public. The Associated Press has requested the list of FOID cardholders but state police said that would violate the privacy of gun owners. The attorney general’s office has ruled that argument invalid. Illinois State Police have not said whether they will comply with the ruling. There are Republican-sponsored bills in the Illinois House and Senate that would prohibit disclosure of the information. Just exactly what does Madigan want to prove? I think she has enough problems to contend with considering the shape Illinois is in. She better start thinking about the economic issues and lack of jobs in this state first. As well as paying back the taxpayers for the money they threw away. Idle hands? Idle time? She better get her rump in gear and do what she was elected to do, not the namby-pamnby crap. It is way past time for Illinois politicians to start earning their keep. I am tired of paying their salary.

    • http://deleted Claire

God forgive me for saying this–but I keep thinking “useless as tits on a boar.”

    • JeffH

Claire, I don’t think the State Police will give her that list. Look for it to get blocked.

Latest I can find…Democrat Attorney General Lisa Madigan, daughter of the state’s powerful Democrat majority leader Michael Madigan, has decided that the privacy concern is “invalid” undermining the State Police’s reasoning of r refusing to release the list. Madigan’s office released a letter to the press on Monday evening, February 28.

Recently the Associated Press asked the Illinois State Police for its list of Illinois gun owners. The police refused saying that the release of the names and addresses of all those registered firearm owners in Illinois would be a violation of their privacy but Illinois Attorney General Democrat Lisa Madigan disagrees with the police and has ruled that the list should be released to the press.

Currently there are no state laws that would prohibit the release of the registry but some Republican-sponsored bills are sitting idle in the House of Representatives.

This move is obviously a move by Democrat Madigan to intimidate Illinois gun owners hoping to make them fear that their names and addresses will suddenly be released to the media.

Just another bully Democrat’s attempt to strong arm law enforcement and legal gun owners in Illinois.

      • http://deleted Claire

JeffH–I know the guys in my family are honked off about it. What the heck is she trying to do, make brownie points? Well, it isn’t going to work. She is like her father, they both are too big for their britches and think they can walk on water. She will be in for a big surprise if she pushes this issue. There will be a lot of protesting.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      Claire,
Knowing some of these useless pols, that list will probably be printed in the newspaper if she gets it!! Then all theives will know exactly which homes to invade when nobody is home to get guns!! How STUPID can these azzholes get??? They’re even more worthless than you described!!

      • http://deleted Claire

JoeH–You are correct. If the Associated Press wants the list, you know dang good and well they will publish it for all to see. The ignorance displayed by Madigan is astounding. I cannot believe the stupidity.

Actually the tits on a boar is what his daughters will have as mothers. Itwould be as useless as tits on a barrow, a cut boar hog. We always wanted boars with at least 16-20 tits on our herd boars. Claire my daughters play a lot of Indian schools and when the indian girls got beaten in a game it was the mothers who spit and hit or pulled hair, not the kids. The minority crrap of whites getting better education is just that, go to any reservation if you want to see waste and the kids who abuse each other, boys get broom handles used on them to become gang bangers and girls get gang raped multi times, something that tribes have condoned for 250 years or more. When medical supply companies go to reservations, the police tell them to drive in as fast as the want to,and leave the same way, run wide open and hope someone isn’t drunk on the road. All reservations are homeys of the soros socialist democrat party, they get votes with feasting and little barely pop. Now I hope some of the feely meely smucks want to know wat res runners to go to. It will not be the first time east and west coast liberials get beaten and hosed, then call for medical care.

Another bubble of blather from Ben Crystalnacht——did this guy ever go to school?

Also, we love calling the Teagaggers “Teabaggers” BECAUSE THAT IS A NAME THEY BESTOWED UPON THEMSELVES OUT OF IGNORANCE.

    HAAA! Stupid inbred Teabaggers.

Thanks, Dano, for your informative statistical data but did you add the long range freebees all these so called educators will cost the tax payers? I am curious to know. I hope every Wisconsin citizen will start doing some real math and figure out that their pay check is not going to suffice to build up their retirement. They may have to be working until they’r 80 years old!

  • Ridge Runner

Eaddy47d what does that d stand for dud or dumb, Either one would fit because you seem to beas dumb as a rock in a chicken coop just covered with chicken sh**.Why can’t you dumb ass liberal socialist look at north korea millions starved and killed by their leaders.Rushia and what used to be satalite countrys around them millions killed and millions opressed by the leaders.china millions killed and opressed by thrir leaders. Why can’t you dumb assses see what obama and his jail house crew is doing to our country because that is the way it is headed. These honest big money men that tou say are going to the demorats and are honest are about as honest as obama isand he can’t open his mouth with out lying and then telling three mores iies to prop the first one up. I think you are as dumb and as obama nither one of you would what honesty was if it jumped up and bit you in your ass.

  • Ridge Runner

All of the people in these unions i know are not bad people but too many want to ride the tax payers back. I am talking about the public sector unions and i don’t think they have any business being in the public sector un less the voting public has sohe say as to how the are run because the people are directly affected by the union and they shouldn’t be telling the people how they are goin to run their government.

  • Lisa

As I watch of all of this unfold in the news I find myself disgusted.

oils up and theirs Mideast turmoil but Obama wont drill because why?
oh yea because solar(unaffordable to most of us) and ethanol(that is driving up the cost of food) is so much better right?

Ya know my republican aint begged me not to vote for him,
    but alas I didn’t listen.

I was a young democrat caught up in the charm of what was for my generation”the new Kennedy”

    now I am kicking myself

so while Obama dreams of his bullet train and many aspects of the government salivate over the earmarks they desire….who is paying attention to the fact….

    hey we’re broke.

Granted solar is great and all and a bullet train might be a cool tourist attraction but it comes down to age old wisdom my grandpa passed on to me.

no matter how bad you want something, and no matter how great it may sound, you have to put your needs ahead of your wants or you’ll never survive.

    we need to drill
    we need to cut spending
and with so many folks out of work, if those teachers do not feel happy and grateful about their jobs by all means give them to someone who will do a good job and appreciate them!

Then when they sit at home unemployed they can figure out how to pay their rent out of thin air,bet they’ll wish they had those jobs at that pay scale they had then. some pay is a whole lot better than no pay.

    • 45caliber

      Right on.

  • Bob W

ya know, I am in the transportation buisness and I just willingly took a pay and benefit cut this year because if we all did not take a cut our family company would have to shut itself down.

My brother the owner hasn’t had paycheck (his own choice) for months so he can pay his other workers who may not have any savings for times like this.

    I pay for my insurance
I pay for my kids medical and dental and medicine
    I don’t get summers off
    or discounts and perks.
why are they so darn special.
Its not like their military personnel.
The most dangerous thing they have to do as a teacher is not slip on a wet floor.

I get a paycheck for a job well done!

And I may not be a teacher but I help ship food and other goods to the stores Americans depend on each and every day!

you don’t see me picketing and refusing to work and deliver food because
“wah wah I did not get a raise, or had to take a pay cut”

fire em,give the jobs to some teacher out of work, or to a retired military person with the qualifications and the need for the money.
And don’t entitle them to unemployment, matter a fact…charge them for fact they cost kids their right to an education because they were flat out greedy!

In a capitalistic society (which is basically slavery), the rich keep getting richer and the masses keep on getting poorer until the masses finally get feed up with ther plight and vote in a socialistic system. Greed is the driver of the capitalist system and greed is one of the seven deadly SINS.

    • Jana

      mark,
This comment comes straight out of the Communist Manifesto.
mark is definitely a good little communist boy.

  • http://charden@neo.rr.com Charles

    Mark,
Get of your lazy ass and become one of the rich, I did. Not
everybody is born rich, the majority had to work for it.
That is what is nice about a Capitalistic society. Work hard and you probley will have something in life. Lay aeound and complain how poor you are, you probley will stay poor. I don`t think in America, the masses are as poor as you try to make them out to be. I think if you look around you might find Americans pretty well off. Look at our way of life, the new cars on the road, the amount of new houses that have been built in the past 30 years just to name a couple of things.
I don`t know of to many people starving to death. We as a people, more than any other people in the world,
take care of our poor and sick. If you can find a better place to live, I,suggest you go there and live. Only in America, we can vote
a person to the highest post in our goverment, who is trying to destroy us and our way of life and still keep our goverment from
    going down the tubes.
