Consuming chocolate for breakfast can help you lose weight. Research at Tel Aviv University shows that a 600-calorie breakfast that includes chocolate as well as a healthy dose of protein aids weight loss.

As researcher Daniela Jakubovicz told Yahoo, keeping your appetite satisfied by eating a good-sized breakfast is crucial for weight loss. In her study, which went on for eight months, dieters who included chocolate with breakfast and ate low-carb meals the rest of the day lost more weight than other dieters who ate a more restricted breakfast.

The subjects of the study consumed 1,600 calories a day for men; 1,400, for women.

“Only a diet that protects you against hunger and addiction prevents weight gain,” says, Jakubovicz.

The group of dieters who only ate low carb throughout the day eventually started to cheat on their diets and regained much of their lost weight. The big breakfast group was much more successful at avoiding temptation and keeping off the pounds.
