Yoga can help ease stress, especially for unemployedWith unemployment often comes feelings of stress, and this can be even more pronounced around the holiday season when the pressure to spend on gifts, dinners and parties becomes greater when compared to the rest of the year. However, a few communities around the country have been working to help individuals navigate losing their jobs and managing stress by providing free yoga classes to the unemployed, The Associated Press reported.

For instance, the news provider revealed that The Integral Yoga Institute in New York began offering classes for free to unemployed practitioners last year. The exercises are said to improve flexibility, concentration and, through deep breathing, promote relaxation — traits that may help those facing a stressful job search process both feel better and unwind.

Wendy Enelow gave the news provider her view on the program saying "if you physically feel better, your head's going to feel better and you're in a better place to manage your job search."

Both unemployed and employed individuals can try alternative treatments as a way to manage stress levels. Aside from practicing yoga, St. John's Wort has been shown to ease stress and promote health and well-being.
