Why didn’t anyone complain about the national debt when Bush was President?

June 27, 2011 by

Dear Bob,

How is it NO PERSON, Senator, or Congressman said anything about the National Debt when President G. Bush kept borrowing money from China, Japan, and South Korea to finance a war that he and Dick Cheney concocted for their own financial gains through Haliburton? All of a sudden the whole country is crying about spending. Then, no one spoke of the enormous bill that was adding to the national debt without figuring how to pay for their actions.

All these expenses were authorized by the Republicans and nobody complained.

Errol

Dear Errol,

You cannot say that NO PERSON has said anything. I and many others have been warning of the dangers of the spending policies of Congress and the Federal Reserve’s money printing for 40-plus years. But you are looking the financial situation in our country through a false left-right paradigm. Obama’s spending policies and war expansion are more egregious than were Bush’s. Bush’s were more egregious than were Clinton’s. Clinton’s were more egregious than were Bush 41′s, whose were more egregious than Reagan’s, etc. The financial collapse is being orchestrated by the powers that be and right and left, Republican and Democrat are all the same. Why are Republicans complaining now but didn’t when Bush was in office? That answer should be obvious to you. It’s the same answer as the one to the question: Why did Democrats complain loudly of Bush’s spending and war policies but do not now complain about Obama’s? They are trying to keep people like you caught up in the false left-right paradigm in order to sow discord and keep themselves and their parties in power and keep you distracted from the real culprits, the Federal Reserve, U.S. monetary policy and unConstitutional laws passed by Congress.

And by the way, one person in Washington, D.C., has complained loud and long about spending and consistently voted against it: Representative Ron Paul (R-Texas).

Best wishes,
Bob

Excellent response to Errol Mr. Livingston, but you fail to offer an accounting as to how the top 2% (some 200 American families) now possess 60% of Americas wealth and controls even more, while middle income families purchasing power has been greatly diminished in this same period of time. Or that in the last 30 years Americans have enjoyed 20 years (66%) of “conservative” administrations that set the tone, tempo and direction from America and Americans to follow.

And today, this same leadership fights for control yet again suggesting they are the “New Improved” version of conservatives yet refusing to own up to their past failing but rather to defer all responsibility, suggesting they might be viewed on as innocent bystanders to a train wreck.

The GOP wants to ensure that the wealthiest Americans, who own the multinationals that are hollowing out the U.S. labor market and innovation creating high (and often unreported) long-term unemployment and poverty for average American workers, be given a tax reduction (in an era of historically low tax rates for them) so that they can further invest in the large public multinationals to ACCELERATE this hollowing out of America.

They have deceived the average Republican into believing Keynesian trickle-down theory will save America. It won’t. Trickle-down increasingly flows from the wealthy into the multinationals, via investment, out to foreign countries and foreign workers to produce foreign made consumer goods (which are increasing in price due to increasing demand for them overseas as a result of transferring American jobs and wealth to foreigners) to be sold in America (in an ever softening American consumer market due to growing joblessness and poverty in America) enriching the wealthy elitists bypassing American workers. Look at our rising Gini Index.

Exacerbating the situation is that the foreign countries benefiting the most from U.S. unilateral trade dismantlement have kept their trade barriers as strong as ever (e.g. China, India, etc…) and have no forseeable plans to dismantle them. Their markets are primiarily served by their own businesses today and they have no need of U.S. products enmasse. The USA sells more product to the tiny nation of Belgium than ALL of China! Our trade deficit tells the story.

The GOP completely ignores decertifying public employee unions, decreasing military spending (which is headed to one trillion a year currently), etc… focusing all their attention on denying people medical care and trying to place senior’s medicare and ss funds at the mercy of nefarious financial profiteers who periodically lose all their money in the markets as they did recently with senior investments in the financial meltdown of the unnecessary Great Recession (which they were heavily responsible for creating along with the Democrats) so that we can have tens of millions of future elderly people starving on the pavement with nothing to look forward to one day. That’s not a “solution” that’s insanity.

This IS THE GOP PLAN FOR THE FUTURE! Don’t let it happen!

The idea that ‘no one complained about GB’ is l a m e, folks. bw, your quick fix mentality says much about what’s going on between your ears. Since when can Americans be heard and expect results in record time?
We can’t count on America’s WORTHLESS media to step in and make a difference. Conservatives can’t count on the ‘Republican’ party to grow a spine and act like patriots. And, wer damned sure CAN’T count on people like you to step up and make a difference.
You know how to piss and moan, but beyond that you’re not worth much. Your ‘side’ expects a Big Government to make all decisions, redistribute wealth, put safety nets under every American’s rump and make nasty reality “go away.” Grow up, brat.
I’m betting that your knowledge of solid economics is on the same level of what you know about political corruption on BOTH sides of the aisle. Make me believe that you’re not just another mule’s ass who thinks the way you’re “supposed to act” and that seeing through Big Government is way over your fuzzy head.
One of the many lessons you have yet to learn is the cold, hard fact that both major parties need to be eliminated. Then, we might have a reason to see people like you as someone who can help make a difference.
Where were YOU when ‘Democrats’ started to recruit all manner of retards, dead voters, illegals and social rejects just so they could have a bigger tent and access to millions of easy votes? The shoe fits, bubba, so wear the frickin’ thing!

“NO PERSON, Senator or Congressman, said anything”…? Where were you sleeping (whilst all the Democratic power brokers in Congress suddenly discovered deficit spending) for the duration of (and not one day beyond) the George “W.” administration?
