White House Press Puppet Jay Carney’s 9,486 Ways To Dodge A Question
White House Press Secretary Jay Carney spends most of his time dodging questions, according to an analysis of his answers to reporter inquiries conducted by Yahoo News.
The Yahoo analysis indicates that over the course of 444 briefings from the time he became the press secretary to June 18, Carney has come up with 9,486 ways to dodge questions.
Some key findings from the analysis:
- Carney has outright refused to “speculate on”— read, answer— a question 500 times.
- He has referred 1,400 questions to other people.
- He has said he didn’t know the answer 1,900 times.
