White House: Obama To Announce Afghanistan War Strategy

December 1, 2009 by

Obama to announce Afghanistan war strategy 'soon,' White House saysPresident Obama met with his national security team last week, and his office said he will announce today whether he will send more troops to Afghanistan.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said the president received all the information from his advisors he needs to make a decision soon, according to TheHill.com.

Meanwhile, Obama has set the stage for the announcement by saying that "once the American people hear a clear rationale for what we’re doing there and how we intend to achieve our goals, they will be supportive."

He was also quoted as saying that he intended to "finish the job."

Earlier this year, the U.S. commander in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrystal requested between 30,000 and 40,000 more troops to be sent to stabilize the volatile country in which militant violence has been escalating.

According to a new CNN/Opinion Research Corp poll, Americans are almost equally split on the issue of sending more soldiers, with half of them supporting the idea and 49 percent opposing it.

However, only 45 percent of the survey’s respondents back the continuing engagement in Afghanistan.

McChrystal, isn’t he the one who covered up the Pat Tillman, killing by friendly fire? Have you ever heard of a general who said, no, I don’t need anymore troops? I resent that he went public with his request. He apparently doesn’t think that he should have discussed his request with his Commander, prior to offering his viewpoints to the American people. It really doesn’t matter what Pres. Obama decides, as the radical right will deem it wrong. I personally feel as though this is a losing situation and it shouldn’t take 100,000 troops to defeat such a small group of terrorists. Committing 30 to 40k more troops will leave us with approx. 10,000 available for any other situations. Bin Laden was brillant with his attack. It has cost us financially more than anyone expected, and has tied up our troops for over 8 years, while dividing this country and creating radical Muslim haters. He knew exactly how Bush and Cheney would respond and was correct about it being the most expensive war we have ever engaged in. Bin Laden has already won, this country is broke and is now full of “Christians” who hate Muslims.

    • VERNE BURNETT

Should Bush have had Bin Laden over for lunch after he bombed the trade center? Bin Laden – Brillant? a little luck and stupidy on our part played a big roll in your so called “Brillant” The middle east war didn’t break this country – The Muslim president did………

      • eyeswideopen

No, Verne, he should have gone after the terrorists and stayed out of Iraq. Haven’t you learned anything from all the information out here in cyberspace? We attacked Iraq for no reason other than Cheney and Bush wanted too. The UN wouldn’t let his daddy finish off Sadamn, so this offered him an opportunity to right that perceived injustice. What Muslim president are you referring too? You should check the budgets and acts that Bush passed and assuming that you can add, hopefully, which when the facts are in black and white, it is a little hard to lie about them isn’t it? Passed Medicare Advantage will no funding, cost 800 billion, and that is only one bill. Denial is a wonderful thing when you are the ones who took a surplus and turned it into the largest deficit ever passed on to another administration.

        • Joe H.

          Eyes,
Are you so deluded that you actually think this bull job of a health care bill will be budget neutral???? What piece of government legislation has EVER come in at COST or BELOW? NONE!!! Do you remember the circle jerk over the 50.00 hammers and the 300.00 toilet seats? Or has your mind gone blank by drinking O-mans kool-aid?

    • Robin from Indiana

eyes… You have an opinion for everything, don’t you? I come from a proud American family who has served in the military and in it’s wars so that you can have your opinion.
Our country is not broke because of the previous administration. I believe that they contributed to the situation, but the present administration is spending money like they were playing Monopoly!
I am a Christian, and I resent your comment about Christians hating Muslims. I pray for the Muslims, that God will open their eyes and help them to see that their beliefs are not the beliefs spelled out in the Bible. I also pray that evil will be eradicated and that peace in the world will prevail. I also pray for all who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Are you one of them?

      • eyeswideopen

Well, Robin, you need to read the posts on this site more carefully, as you are obviously missing the Chrisitans who are calling all Muslims evil. Listen sweetie, I lost a husband and son to these wonderful wars, they gave their lives so I could voice an opinion. I am happy for you that your family has survived. Yes, I am a Christian, however, I don’t presume to know what God has planned and since he has allowed other types of religions to exist, I won’t condemn them and cop an arrogrant attitude of self righteousness, sitting in judgement of others. I actually follow Jesus teachings and not Paul’s. The Conservative Christians are so quick to judge and condemn, which is not what Jesus taught.

    • Joe H.

      Eyes,
Such a little group of terrorists???? Are you nuts? There are AQ in almost every country in the world, including here!!! Even the super bad China has them!!! Small group my hiney!!!!

      • Jana

        There goes eyes, judging again.
Christians do not hate Muslims. There are many precious Muslim people. There are also many RADICAL MUSLIMS. These RADICALS want us dead. They are our enemies. Enemies from within our very borders. They serve a political/ religious system called Islam.
There is a vast difference. I will use your favorite quote-”You just don’t get it do you?”

        • Joe H.

          Jana,
The worst part is their “bible” says to jihad against all who do not convert!!!!

        • Joe H.

          Jana,
Actually you should have said there are too many radical Muslims!!!!

    • John

Eyes, it doesn’t really matter what Obama does because he hasn’t done anything yet, of substance that is. How many months did it take him to finally reach a decision to send additional troops to Afghanistan?
Thus far, he has left a lot of unfinished business in his wake largely because he’s been preoccupied with his socialist healthcare reform agenda.
However, he did make time to fly to Copenhagen and appear on how many TV shows during the interim?
After he further screws up healthcare he’ll be off to something else that involves taking a stand against the citizenry of America. What’s next gun control? Revisit the Fairness Doctrine…?

      • Joe H.

        Hey John,
He did a real nice fly by of the Statue Of Liberty!!! Course he scared the living hell out of a lot of New Yorkers though!!!!

        • eyeswideopen

Joe, you truly show your ignorance with some of your statements. He wasn’t on board plane, didn’t authorize the fly by, it was a photo op authorized by someone else, who got fired over the fiasco. You people are pitiful, stooping to a level that is so low as to hold him responsible for things that happen without his knowledge or consent. Really are the example of school yard bullies and bigots.

          • Joe H.

wrong again eyes he did authorize it!!!

          • eyeswideopen

Joe, prove it and I will apologize if you are right.

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
As your alter ego says I’m not doing your work for you you do it!!!!

  • s c

At the heart of comrade obama’s election campaign was the idea AND the promise that he’d hit the ground running, and that he had a solution for almost everything. Well, he’s been in office for a long year, and he’s still ‘thinking’ about some topics.
What are the plans? What are the solutions? In effect, he acts as though he’s still on the campaign trail. He has approched the presidency much like a college student who specializes in putting off term papers until he’s forced to act. With all of the ‘helpers’ he has, you’d think he could do better. It doesn’t take any talent to waste money, print more money (that we don’t have) 24/7 and somehow expect us to believe that the more money we waste the better off America will be.
Is he related to PT Barnum (or Ponzi)? Comrade obama wasn’t presidential material before the election. He’s not presidential material now. It follows, therefore, that he will never be presidential.

    • http://SC Jim Lawrence

I like the way everybody have a solution to the mess this country is in
and how we have brilliant ideals. The situation that existed while our President was running for office a lot of things have changed. Why do the President have a Meeting every morning? Because what happen yesterday or last week is different on today. Back seat Driving is very dangerous we do not get information that our Commander and Chief get each morning. At best we all should be praying that our leaders or making the right decisions.

      • Jana

Jim, When we pay attention to what is going on around us, we can see that he is of no substance. He is hurting our country. He is trying to change our country from a great country to a third world country.

      • Jana

Jim, another point. After the terrorist hit Ft. Hood, he didn’t even go to Ft. Hood to see the wounded until the following Tuesday. Pres. Bush went the very next day to see the wounded soldiers.
Bush talked with the soldiers and spent a little time with each one encouraging them. A couple of families had their cameras and was able to get a picture, but since it wasn’t announced ahead of time, they all didn’t get pics.

When Obama went to see the soldiers his team went in first, instructing each hospitalized soldier to not say anything to Obama unless he spoke to him or her first, and to not try to shake his hand unless Obama offered his hand first. Wow, what a sweet visit that must have been. After all the soldier should have swooned at the very idea that Obama was even going to grace him or her with just an appearance.
        Some Commander in Chief.

      • Joe H.

        Jim,
I think it is your turn to answer Jana here?

    • Jana

sc, He also during a speech, stated that the world was a community of countries. EXCUSE ME?? It sounds like he is talking down to a bunch of kindergartners.
A very unprepared man was elected to the office of President and he is showing that it is way above his abilities.

      • s c

You are quite right, Jana. Comrade obama is ‘talking down’ to us every time he opens his mouth. His pay grade should be minimum wage. That way, he might go through the motions of paying off those many wasted trips overseas.
In the interest of saving money [and giving mama earth a breather by minimizing CARBON FOOTPRINTS], comrade obama’s bogus nobel peace prize should be shipped via USPS. He still owes America a detailed explanation as to HOW he deserves one.
Comrade obama is a classic example of what happens when common sense is replaced by social engineering and destructive anti-freedom obsessions. He may have been a rock star in Cuba, but he’s just another overpaid, under-worked, career politician who should have stayed in Chicago. Even dead voters are entitled to rousing rants on ‘hope and change.’

      • John

Jana, I turn the TV down or change it every time he speaks. Yes he does talk down to us but worse yet is that he’s a liar.
Yes he is an unprepared and inept president.
One long year and 3 more long ones too go.

        • Joe H.

          John,
Listen to every word he says!!! To know what he is saying is to be at least a little forewarned. Never turn him down listen and watch both hands. Don’t let him do a slight of hand on you!!!

          • Jana

Joe, you are right we need to listen to him and be forewarned.

          • John

            Joe & Jana,
I read what he says I don’t have to listen too him on TV.
I am very well aware as to what he is and what he is doing.

          • Joe H.

John, as long as you know your adversaries words and intentions he can not surprise you!!! Take care guy!!

    • BOE

He is a Mack-daddy with a big airforce one that he has to fire up everyday and fly some where just like it is a big toy!

  • http://N/A Tom Downs

    Yo eyeswideopen:

You sound like a Muslim. You also sound like it is McChrystal’s fault for not communicating with the President. Helloooooo, how can he get to the President when Late Night T.V. shows are calling? Also, what makes you the military genius? What is your past? Oh, a liberal graduate from the unbiased educational system in this country?. Get a life dude. Read the “Gulag Archipilago” and you will come to the conclusion that we are not too far off the falling of this great Republic. Oh, am I a conspiracy theorist? Never before….but I am becoming one. The not so surprise coming out of Copenhagen may reveal the next step. Watch for it. Pour out your Kool-Aid. Think and don’t be a follower….become a leader.

    • Raggs

Yeah December the 7th is the real key issue…
obama, pelois, reid, clinton have all of this planned out and using “Global warming” as a vehicle. I believe this also will have an influence on what obama will do about Afgan. I’m thinking he will pause until the signing of the “global climate treaty”.. And afterwards do nothing on Afgan…

    • eyeswideopen

Tom, do you understand what a chain of command is? The military is not a democracy, much as you would like it to be. There is a protocol and the general did not follow that, when he leaked his opinion to the press. Previous generals have been fired for such an action. As usual, anyone not buying into the radical party line is called a Muslim. It is so common on this site that it is not even taken as an insult anymore.

    • Joe H.

      Tom Downs,
Have you seen the saturday night live rendition of O-man? Real accurate!!! If you haven’t seen it, it’s available on line!!!!

  • Warrior

The president is going to announce tonight his plan to send 40,000 migrant farm workers, from Mich and Wisc, to Afghan to help pick some more hopium. Brilliant!

    • Joe H.

They just said on FOX(!!!!!) that the total would be about 30,000.

    • Joe H.

      Warrior,
Nah he’d never risk his votes like that!!!!!

  • ONTIME

The phony uncredentialed POTUS is going to use the halls of West Point as a cover for his speech. I expect his speech will be composed of flowery words that indicate nothing, he will avoid commitment and promise everything and it will still boil down to, it is what he does, not what he says.

If he was anywhere near the man he wants to be, his photo op attitude he holds for the military could be better if he would step in on this latest incident involving the SEALs and their recent capture and alleged treatment of a ranking terorist…I expect little of this unaccomplished shill.

    • s c

Comrade obama is a textbook ‘legend in his own mind,’ which makes him just another overpaid, under-qualified flunky. His icons are hate-mongers who despise freedom. ACORN and Harvard helped get rid of whatever common sense he ever had.
The trip to West Point may be a chance to troll for future military leaders who want to join the NWO ‘inside-track’ promotion list. People like comrade obama know they must constantly shop around for ‘leaders’ who put promotions before honor.
Horror stories about current Vietnam-style rules-of-engagement will shine a much-needed light on comrade obama’s ‘expertise’ and true intent. Anyone who can justify “blessing” enemy combatants with Miranda rights on the battlefield lives in denial, sees paranoia as genius and needs to live in a more enlightened country (like China or Cuba).
The American people are in dire need of voting and constitutional rules-of-engagement for any Congress
or non-president with plans to enslave the American people because “it’s time” for “social justice and hope and change.”

  • Sue

There is no Global Warming. Obama must not have got the memo. The way he is leading up to telling the US…whom he Works For, is like showing pre-views to an up coming movie. He thinks the White House is Hollywood. I do not trust this man or any of his followers. If his fo;;owers still believe anything he says, after he has broken every promace he made, getting elected,I believe they are on the same adgenda he is on. The U.S. is dividing again, thanks to this so called leader.

    • Warrior

Sue – How did we go from picking poppy’s to killing albino bears? Anyway, let’s melt the ice caps and flood the east and west coasts and problem solved.

      • Joe H.

        Hey Warrior,
did you see the report that said that the outpost in the Atlantic that was collecting evidence for the global warming reports was not reporting FACTS AS THEY WERE? Seems they also dumped the original stats so no one could repeat their work either. They were scewing the results to their own limits to shade the truth. Seems that someone hacked into their computers and found out. Libbies get dumber and dumber!!!! Also i guess someone said the words “global cooling” to Ed Begly on some show and he went beserk!!! gave the guy in the audience the finger and all. Quite hysterical!!

        • Claire

JoeH–I do have concern for our wildlife. Animals cannot help themselves and in some instances they depend on us for survival. I just do not believe in destroying animals along with our beautiful land.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
I agree to a point. Does that mean that the survival of animals is more important than the survival of man? That is where I draw the line.

        • Warrior

You want to see hysterical – Chris Matthews on MSNBC after OB gave his speech. That guy should be locked up at Gitmo!

          • s c

Warrior, Chris Matthews reminds me how teenage girls used to go ga-ga over crooners (Sinatra, etc.) in the late ’40s and early ’50s. Comrade obama can’t sing, but he sure can flap his mouth.
Matthews probably never thinks twice about how his behavior looks to others, even when his main concern is to worship and adore comrade obama. If Matthews is trying to convert America, he’d better learn the difference between a hack politician and a third-rate elmer gantry.
Someone must have told comrade obama that everyone would always love him. Matthews seems to think if his leg “tingles,” he’s in the presence of a superior being. It should be obvious to most people that neither are playing with a full deck. They deserve each other.

  • Sue

Google ,U.S. rules of engagement in Afghanistan. We have to warn the villages we are coming, right…that makes a lot of sence. Give the bad guys time to get out and lay a path of mines for us. There are other ‘Rules’ that make zero sence. These rules are costing U.S. lives.

    • Joe H.

      Sue,
The dumbest one of all is where they have to read all prisoners their miranda and turn them over to the government within like 48 hours. They’re back on the battlefield quicker than our troops!!!

  • Sofia

Arrogance comes before the fall … Sorry Mr. Obama you are no leader and definitely no hero!

  • Ron

EyesWideOpen – come to Texas and I will close them for you !

    • Joe H.

      Ron,
Like I said a couple of days ago on one of these threads can you imagine whats’ going to happen if they try to outlaw guns in TEXAS???? Look out people the sh..gonna’ hit the fan!!!!

      • Raggs

TX is not the only concern…
They will reap what the sow…

Well of course the excuse of marshal law will take place for a flu or something stupid.. I’m going to give up my guns one bullet at a time.

        • Joe H.

          Raggs,
Well, isn’t a good gun owner supposed to make sure his gun is unloaded before he gives it up???? hehe

    • coal miner

      Ron,

When someone disagrees with you.Do you always resort to threats.Eyes has got a right to her opinion. You respect hers, everybody will respect yours.

      • Joe H.

        Coal minor,
Show me one post where eyes has been respectful!!!!

        • coal miner

          Joe h,

Eyes points out the truth. This guy said come to Texas and he would close her eyes. That is a threat, pure and simple. You used words like that where I was raised, that meant someone was going to rearrange that person’s face.

          • Joe H.

            Coal minor,
I,ll give you just one example. Do you think it’s the truth when she says that AQ is such a small terrorist group? They are in almost every country in the world. Even big bad China has them. WE have them!! They are estimated at a strength of about 500,000 world wide. the biggest gathering of them is in the middle east. Even though eyes and her counter part dennisob don’t want to admit it there are AQ in Iraq and were when we went in there. Saddam may or may not been in support of them but they were indeed there!!!

          • eyeswideopen

You, don’t read or understand. Al Quiada is a small group in Afghanistan. The Taliban however has grown to 20,000 from a group originally of 2,000. It is a small group in comparison to the Nato troops and US troops that we have in Afghanistan of 111,000. Who said anything about world wide? Were’t we discussing Afghan? Oh that’s right you jump all over the place don’t you?? lol

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
I’m not talking Taliban here, I’m talking AQ!!! Two totally different animals!!!! It’s estimated that Aq has operatives in the neighbor hood of 75,000 in the middle east and they could converge on Afghanistan if so desired. Think, Just THINK what that would be like in those mountains for any patrol or even larger force if the animals decided to use EIDs and ambush!!!! Our troops could be in very dire straights!!! Don’t be a fool!!!

          • eyeswideopen

Joe, you still don’t get it. We were speaking about Afghanistan not world wide…. how can you go off on these tangents and not get dizzy? It is a small force in Afghan and Paskistan. Pay more attention to what people say. You aren’t stupid, you just jump to conclusions to fast and automatically try to make a response that will make Obama, or someone else look silly, stupid, angry, slow down and use that intelligent you have.

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
I said 500,000 world wide!!! In the MIDDLE EAST(GET THAT?) IT IS ESTIMATED THAT THERE ARE ABOUT 75,000!!! Did you get it that time????? Or do I have to repeat it ad nausium???? Man!!!!!!

    • Claire

Now that is not very nice. Eyes has a right to her opinion just like the rest of us. We all have freedom of speech.
We all have our own beliefs, dislikes and likes. I don’t freak out if someone does not agree with me, and I imagine a lot of people do not agree with me.

      • Claire

Think of it this way–when a person sticks to their beliefs and opinions, then they are not wishy-washy. I have more respect for a person that sticks to their “guns.” No pun intended on the “guns.” These types of people are true to themselves and to others.

    • eyeswideopen

Ron, I left Texas, because of fools like you….I really wished it was legally possible for Texas to succeed. I would contribute money to help build a wall around it.

      • Joe H.

        Ron,
yeah she likes walking instead of riding!!!

      • Joe H.

        OOPS, theres another word FOOLS!!!!

  • Claire

You know, after reading these posts I have decided sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.
First of all, I do believe there is a change in the environment. Look at the land we have trashed, and then not used. They didn’t bother to plant the trees back for wildlife habitat. I could go on and on. I believe we must take care of America and its natural resources, land, etc. I often think America will be a gigantic slab of concrete in the future. It won’t happen in my lifetime, but perhaps in the distant future. Why is it that sometimes we have a tendency to destroy the things that are truly important to us?
I believe we should take care of our country, we should increase our military power to take care of us, not everyone else. We should help our neighbor, as long as they are trying to help themselves, and treat each other like we would want to be treated. We have freedom of speech, freedom to do and go where we want. We have a lot to be thankful for, even if we do not agree with each other, or with the current government of our country.
I do not wish anything bad for our President and Congress. At this point in my life, it does not matter to me who is President, I want him to succeed because if he succeeds, then we succeed. And believe me, I want all of us to succeed. I do not wish harm to anyone. When a person wishes or does harm to another, it always comes back to bite you in the butt. There are always consequences.

    • Joe H.

      Claire,
Actually did you know there is more forest in the United States than in the colonial times? It’s hard to believe, but true A lot of the areas that were natural meadow is now forest or at least trees. There are a lot of people like me in that when I cut down a tree in my yard, I plant one in its place!

      • Claire

Good for you!!! It is good to plant trees–good for the air we breathe.
And I know humans come first, but sometimes animals suffer for our cruelty. I guess I feel this way because of the dog fighting rings. And the fact the weekend warriors should learn how to shoot instead of leaving wounded deer. And the bow hunters! It is pathetic to see deer running around with arrows sticking out their sides. Hunting is fine, but make a clean kill. And try to look for the poor animal after it has been wounded. Sorry, but I just had to say this.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
Don’t apologize for that. I agree 100% Hunters need to practice a little more, in fact a lot more. My uncle from GA used to have a saying that a poor man that hunts for food soon learns the “one” rule. One shot for one kill!!! I hate hunters that are too lazy to track a wounded animal!!!

          • Claire

Joe H–you are right again. My husband NEVER would leave a wounded animal. He has not hunted for about 2 years now. I know he misses it. He loved working with the pups. It always took him about a year or more training a dog, but he never had a gunshy dog. He has a lot of patience. He gets his guns out every now and then, cleans them, messes with them and then puts them away. Our dogs are good retrievers and that helps, and they respond to his commands, but he just can’t do the walking anymore.
Another thing that growls me are the hunters that take out a dog with hardly any training or no training, shoot over them and wonder why the dog takes off. And if the dog takes off, they don’t bother trying to find them. The local pound always get a lot of dogs in during hunting season here.

  • Claire

Have any of you heard about the Aryan Nation making a comeback in Idaho? The guy running the show is Paul Mallet? Mullet? Apparently Mallet wants to pick up where Richard Butler left off.

    • Joe H.

yup and they are on the rise in Germany as well regardless of what Curtis would have you believe. People just won’t learn that war is a terrible way to go!!

      • Claire

I hear they are getting nasty. Harassing the townspeople–Hayden Lake, Idaho.
        They scare me. Too volatile.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
As with any gang, they aren’t too tough one by himself, the problem is when they are out in gangs. Typical COWARDS!!!!!

          • Claire

Joe H–typical cowards is right. I certainly hope they do not get too big or too powerful, if they do, we got trouble!

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
That’s what we have the FBI, police, and others for. But as a last resort, for protection only we have Smith and Wesson!!!!

  • James

The obvious solution for the terrorist problem is for President Obama to draft all American males over 14-years of age, and place them in Afghanistan. A mere 100,000 men will never find those pesky 90-some al Qaeda evil-doers over there. On the back’s of our men’s uniforms should be a circular sign in big white letters reading: “We’re gonna getcha now!”
Let’s not forget how those 19 hi-jackers slithered over here on the Atlantic’s floor, hollered “we’re gonna get you!” then climbed up those buildings and tore ‘em apart with their bare hands.

    • Joe H.

      James
Yup those pesky 90 or so AQ are such a head ache!!!! Hey watch it you’re starting to sound like Eyes/dennisobber!!!!

    • eyeswideopen

James, at least they notified Bush that they were coming, he was the one who dimissed the threat.

      • Joe H.

        Eyes,
Show me a middle of the road source that says that and I don’t mean snopes or dennisobber!!!

        • James

Joe H., I think Eyes was being facetious. The 19 hijackers had been here, on legal visas, for some time. They took flying lessons, at a local airport. They told their instructor they were only interested in how to fly an airplane, not takeoffs and landings. The U.S. Secret Service checked them out long before 9/11, and it is only logical that President Bush was informed of this. The majority of the hijackers were Saudis, and since we were on the best of terms with Saudi Arabia, nothing much was thought about their flying lessons. After the attack, Bush froze all air traffic but a few transatlantic planes that were evacuating all Saudi diginitaries.

          • Joe H.

            James,
Browneyeswideopen, has stated before that bush was warned by the hijackers that it was coming. She also reported the CIA reported an attack was imminent but for the life of me I can’t see why she would give that any more credence than the CIA report that said Saddam had WMDs!!! Unless of course she wants to make him look bad and her hero O-man look better.( as hard as we all know that would be!!!!)

  • James

Joe H., there is considerable evidence that high government officials had foreknowledge of the 9/11 attack. Four planes were hijacked and four buildings were destroyed or damaged. When the fourth plane didn’t show up, building 7 came down just like the twin towers came down – straight down, in seconds. Why?
Why were no jet fighters scrambled, they were on fixed orders to do so without any other authority? Why didn’t the automated weapons on the Pentagon roof fire on their own? Jet fuel burns at a lower temperature than steel melts at. Why were molten puddles of steel still in the basements of the twin towers, 2 weeks after the attack?

  • Claire

    James:

I have heard that high government had knowledge beforehand concerning 9/11. I have also heard that bombs were planted in the twin towers and that is why they came down so quickly. I have often wondered why our jets weren’t scrambled. I have always felt something was fishy about this ordeal. Wonder if Cheney knows anything? A possible cover-up?

    • James

Claire, a cover-up is dependent on yet-to-be discovered evidence. The pictures of molten steel in the basement and basement columns that were severed rather than melted has blown the cover-up. It is utterly impossible for a jet-fuel fire to heat steel beams downward 90-some floors to a molten state. This could only be done with Thermite charges which cut such beams in a flash. If the twin towers were brought down by the plane crashes alone, assuming the jet-fuel did melt all the beams, it would have taken at least 20 or 30 minutes for them to fall. The twin towers fell in 8 and 9 seconds. They fell straight down, if the columns were melting, sections would have leaned over sideways. Only demolition brings buildings straight down.
The fly in the ointment here is building 7 in the WTC. No plane struck it, therefore there was no jet-fuel to melt its steel columns, but it came straight down in 6-7 seconds, just like the twin towers. Buildings were then, and now, constructed of steel to guarantee that a mere plane crash would not completely destroy them them.
There is no cover-up here, only a failure of federal authorities to confess the truth. That is certainly understandable, if one had foreknowledge of the attack and wanted to enhance it, in order to force Americans into more wars in the Middle-East, wouldn’t he behave as they did? Didn’t it work?
