What Will Crisis Be Like?

September 3, 2012 by

What Will Crisis Be Like?
What could potentially happen to America is something that none of us is truly ready for.

I recently had a chance to sit down with my friend, survival expert Wallace Streete, to speak about what a crisis would be like.

Streete has traveled the world many times over and has had an awful lot of “unpleasant experiences,” to say the least. He has been everywhere from the Congo to North Korea to not so wild and crazy places like Iowa. Well, maybe they are wild and crazy, but not in a survival type of way.

Streete warned me that what could potentially happen to America is something that none of us is truly ready for. I wanted to share with you what he told me.

When the end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI) happens, none of us will be ready. There is no amount of preparedness, storage or training that we can have that will have us ready in the blink of an eye for something that can literally happen just as fast.

Think about that.

You can be only so prepared for what can come down the pike at you. Sure, you’ll have a heads-up if it’s a weather occurrence. But what happens if it’s an earthquake, a tornado or even a flash flood? The point is that you won’t see it coming. Unless you are the only person in the world who is completely emotionless, you will be taken off guard and be in fear.

There’s nothing wrong with being afraid — for a bit, that is. It’s the people who can pull themselves together who will be able to make it out. The people who can’t pull themselves together won’t quite cut it, according to Streete.

I just mentioned simple (that’s right, I said simple) weather events. Can you imagine if martial law took over or there were an attack on the United States?

Recently, I discussed how an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack could happen and we wouldn’t see it coming. Imagine what else could happen.

So you’re left sitting there, well after something hits, and you have to pull it together to make it out. Are you actually ready for that? The answer is that you aren’t.

Odds are that you are ready for the long haul, things like being able to cook your stored food or hunt if necessary. But that immediate blast of crisis: You just aren’t set up for it.

So what will a crisis be like?

Streete said it will be like when you are in a car accident and kind of see it coming. It’s almost as if your world slows down so that your body and mind can mentally react — even though you can do nothing to change your circumstances.

I know from being in a few car accidents that you see or even sometimes feel them coming. I was t-boned a few years ago when I was living in Baltimore. I actually saw the car slowly hit me on the side.

I saw the glass fly so slowly through the air that it was almost as if I were in a Hollywood action movie during an exploding fight sequence. Things were surreal. That’s what Streete said the immediate crisis situation will be like.

The best way to be prepared for that is simply knowing what you have to do. Program yourself to know that when it’s time to leave, you leave.

It’s like learning another language, playing an instrument or driving a car. When you work at each enough, what you need to do becomes second nature.

In essence, you need to become fluent in your ability to survive.

The last thing you want to do is be stuck figuring things out at the last minute.

I have talked about it before (and I hate to keep referencing it): You can see what this is like by watching the Hollywood hit “The Hunger Games.”

The children were put into an arena where they had to fight for their survival, and each had a different tactic to survive.

Those who didn’t move fast enough to begin with were killed immediately; those who moved too fast became targets as well.

The people who were prepared and calm and knew what they needed to do made it out alive — or at least lasted for longer than a few days.

I’m not saying that a crisis will be like “The Hunger Games” where we will all be killing each other and fighting in multiple levels of combat to survive. However, I am saying that it’s a good example about preparedness.

When that whistle goes off or when that storm or human event hits and our world changes, you need to be that prepared and resolute person.

You can’t just up and run or stay put without having a solid plan, but you also can’t allow yourself to be stunned or so taken off guard that you become a target.

According to Streete, you should practice survival tactics with your family. Have a few general plans lined up so that you can make it out of different situations. One should be for weather; another should be for an attack. We should also be ready for when all of our electronics could stop working at once.

It’s so important that your plan is ingrained in your head so that you can act on it calmly and quickly, without having to think about it.

The old adage goes something like “time is money.” In this situation, time is survival.

Be smarter than they think you are.

“Thy Kingdom come”, said Jesus. God’s government is the answer to all of man’s problems and will soon take control of all the earth according to Daniel 2:44: “In the days of these kings (our time) shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom ……shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.” God’s kingdom is the rightful government for this earth and will replace all other governments in the near future according to Bible prophecy. The only question is: WHAT GOVERNMENT DO WE PERSONALLY SUPPORT? Our future life depends on active support of God’s Kingdom as Jesus said: (Matthew 24:14) “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” WHERE DO YOU STAND?

    • wandamurline

I personally won’t have to worry when it happens….God has told me that he will come for his people like a thief in the night and two will be in the filelds, one will be taken and the other left. We are definitely living in the end times as can be told of the wickedness of the world, the promiscuity, the k i l l i n g of the unborn and the gay perversion. If you have not found Jesus as your saviour, you may still have time to accept him and for the rest of us, we need to be on our knees asking for forgiveness and witnessing to others. It is always your choice as to which side you will be one.

      • rb

Preparedness never hurt anyone. While Christ’s return in inevitable it is not specifically foretold that even we as believers will be spared from harm or a crisis before He returns. History repeatedly shows us that God does not shelter His own from persecution or tribulation. God ultimately will take care of His own and His kingdom will ultimately be restored on Earth. That does not mean we will be spared the hard road that will be taken to get there. Don’t be caught unprepared either for Christ’s return like a thief in the night or the coming of a tribulation should He choose in His infinite wisdom to allow us to go through it.

      • Bimbam

Yes, it will really be a “cryfest” when the end comes for America.

I personally believe an EMP device or solar flare will be the cause.

Some other well-known causes are political (martial law), economical (currency collaspe and mark of the beast used), geological (Cayce’s imagined America underwater), cosmological (solar flare as mentioned or comet hit), biological (runaway GMO or virus).

      • nabiru

Jesus Christ will returne. No argument about it. But He also said that 2/3 of the humans of this planet will be punished(destroyed). Now , if we look at this from a matematical poin of view than 2/3 of 100% is 66.6%.Did He have a message here?

    • Andy

So when Jehovah’s Witnesses knock on your doors, do not reject them. They have been foretelling of these coming times long time ago, since late 1800′s. They will kindly give the answers from the Holy Bible what is the meaning of what is taking place now and what will take place very soon. Take courage, because the days are certainly are being cut short. If you wish to be saved, you must learn God’s laws and obey them. Only God’s-obedient humans chilidren of God will be able to live in the coming new paradise of this earth. Anyone who is against God’s new government will be cut off the surface of the earth. The paradise is being reserved for his loving servants who worship him with full heart and mind. So take note while you are still able to do so, because the time is getting shorter and shorter.

      • Supertad108

“If you wish to be saved, you must learn God’s laws and obey them. ”

Actually not true. John 3:16 is all that’s necessary to be saved. That obey thing is a cover for works. We do not have to work and/or earn our entrance into heaven. It’s by faith, and faith alone.

Today’s issue is as it was with Eve. She was lured into placing her faith in herself. Now it’s all about what you must do to regain entrance versus having the faith in Jesus’ final words on the cross. It IS Finished. All the work/sacrifices are complete.

Grace now replaces attempting to work (obey) God’s laws. Which is impossible by the way. Read Romans.

Andy, Supertad,,,both you people are leaving out some super critical information , first off
JW has been proven to be a bunch of brainwashed commies …
Then , this believe only salvation does not harmonize with about 80% of NT Scripture ,,,We think King Jesus is a little smarter than that , otherwise He would not have spoken
Matthew 5:17 , John 3:1–15__17,22 AND MANY other Scriptures that plainly state BAPTISM is to be accomplished for Salvation and being born again and to receive The Gift of The Holy Spirit , most notable being Acts 2:38 and 1 Peter 3:21 …
So, who am I to believe ? these one liners or King Jesus ??? I say,,,
Praise King Jesus for Salvation and Healing… Acts 2:38 is salvation…

      • Benjamin Fox

The JW’s had to rewrite the Bible to fit their beliefs. A false religion at best.

      • Dave

No offense, but the Jehovah’s Witnesses are still looking for the Messiah’s FIRST coming, not the Lord’s SECOND coming that the writers of the NT foretold some 2,000 years ago. The Jehovah’s witnesses are nice enough people, but have some rather odd ideas about theology.

  • Retired Sniper

I spent a third of my life in the Military, and a lot of that in combat. My wife asked me the same question the other day and I told her that going to work today, or on patrol tomorrow is all the same to me.
I’m fully prepped, have a community of preppers around me, mostly vets, and we update our defense plans every month at active meetings to discuss changing events to take into consideration.
We all will die on our feet rather than live on our knees. Nuff said.

    • JC

That’s probably the most intelligent comment that will be posted on this thread.
I’m doing the same thing. I’ve never been a professional sniper, but I’m well equipped, well stocked and I train with distance rifles almost every weekend. And you must develop “community”…that will be as important as anything else you do. Thankfully, I live very near the Rocky’s and my community are all experienced survivalists, hunter’s, ex military, active policemen…all in all, a formidable and knowlegable group.
No disrespect to those believers among us, but an ecclesiastic white out will probably get you dead quick. Isn’t it so that God helps those who help themselves? Plan ahead as best you can. We’ll need all the “live” Patriots we can find.

      • Winddrinker

Not sure which is the best, JC, that is a pretty good, intelligent post that you made..

  • Warrior

See, there is a benefit for reality TV after all. Now the mush minds will know how to deal with the ‘snookies” of the world.

  • boyscout

Life has always been supremely tentative. Accept it, embrace it. Live righteously, practice the virtues, act accordingly.

  • Frank G

Retired Snyper has it right. My problem is, I am isolated here in Chester County PA. Is there anybody else around here whom I can discuss these events and probably help each other?

    • Jon

There is an unbelievable amount of information and assistance available out there. You need to join some groups on LinkedIn to discuss survival issues. Look through google and ebay for ideas. For neighbors, start a discussion about relatively innocuous things like concern about the childrens’ safety and school or the increasing food prices. If you get responses that correspond with your own ideas, expand slowly into preparedness and such. I have been able to form a small group of neighbors whom I think I can trust and rely on in an emergence– at least to some extent. We absolutely do not tell each other all things we do or have. I also know which neighbors not to count on, the “government or church leaders will take care of us” crowd.
Obviously, most of us do not have the resources or time to prepare for any eventuality, but we do the best we can with what we have. As they say, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Good luck.

    • Jon

I’m in Chester County, and everyone here is leaving the dream it seems, unwilling to see that there could be hard times down the road. My own family (not immediate) don’t seem to have a worry in the world so to speak. Most of my family are Christians and think everything will be fine and that God/Jesus will take care of them. I am also in the belief that God/Jesus will take care of me to, so he gave me the wisdom to start preparing for what could happen.

    “It’s always somethin.”

Today’s special for a LIMITED TIME* for the first 500* people which if you don’t BUY now* we will NEVER, EVER* offer it again……….

Capitalism at it’s finest, free market, unregulated and voluntary……..

    * which means: not really… in FREE*, which for some reason never means free!

YOU have the liberty to BELIEVE any and all of the BS you read and you can PURCHASE
whatever your heart desires………….so much for the “private ownership of the means of
PRODUCTION*”……………so while we no longer have a manufacturing sector, or much of anything else that actually works efficiently AND delivers a product with POSITIVE results..
( present so called health care system: as one example….you can find more ) it would appear that the BS sector is going strong…….so if we are the world’s number one economy……..what do you imagine our GDP number would be if we started calculating it
based on actual value of the delivered end product?

The BS confidence game has been with us for a llloooonnnnggggg time, and when the printing press showed up different possibilities emerged……..

” How you can make millions running small classified ads.”………

Enter the pc and the internet and stir………….and all the print and snail mail scams just went into hyper drive………….which is actually INSANE, because actually purchasing information* on the internet………when you are sitting in front of a tool which with a little more effort… usually find what you are seeking to buy for free or simply apply a little common sense and figure it out for yourself.

But ask yourself……if you had something, like say a secret* method or system that actually worked reliably……….why would you share it? The truth behind this is that…..while the information might may be of some use……… you* ( as the buyer ) are the secret to the success of the system*………can you say sucker? Or in this day and age, SUPER SUCKER?

Can you say TULIP? Caveat emptor…is a good watchword……..but difficult because
policing* costs money…….can and has been corrupted……but their is another side to
this coin……..Caveat Venditor: Tacit warning to the sellers that, unless they expressly disclaim any responsibility, they will be held liable if the sold items are found defective in any way or vary from the specifications. Latin for, let the seller beware. Mirror image of caveat emptor. ( so called normal business’s bury this in the fine print* or in today’s world
    in the “term’s and conditions”)

Some notable people who have experienced SUCCESS have also experienced REALITY as it pertains to IGNORING the possibility…….Louis and Marie, Nicholas and Alexandra, Mussolini……….and despite the number of individuals currently involved……the rules of such SUCCESS…….means that the emptor’s must by definition outnumber the venditor’s!

“To conquer, first DIVIDE!” ( and then HANG, separately! )

    • Retired Sniper

Yes, I believe Benjamin Franklin put it this way (roughly): We need to hang together, or surely we will all hang seprately.
Don’t trust the internet without research. Look, figure it out and make it yourself.
I researched water wells and found a good site. I built the rig and now I have potable water on my property. If I get tired of pumping, I just hook it to the solar panels, the ones I built myself.

Tim talks like we all may be able to get out of this world alive

I wouldn’t want to sound droll
but you’ve got to keep an ace in the hole

Get a personal relationship with God and receive eternal life because even though you can survive as long as you are able everyone of us will die. Our human bodies aren’t immortal but our souls can be with the living spirit residing in them. The best survival guide is and always will be the bible. And I am not saying not to protect your families and homes and just roll over and die but that being good stewards of what God has provided you even if it means laying down your life for it is righteous in God’s eyes and will be rewarded beyond what you could imagine! Put on the full armor of God as Ephesians tells us. We fight a spiritual war not a physical one to really survive. Take peace from that and you will be of good courage and fear nothing! Thank the Lord Jesus for his sacrifice for your sins that you would believe he died and rose from the dead and that by defeating the eternal death we may also be granted eternal life by Gods’ grace after our own bodies die! Seek the true gospel of God for more reference. You have control by what ever decisions you make in your physical life. When you die, you will be judged on those very decisions by the very one who can save you now while you can still make them or change them. Which would you choose? Eternal life, or…….something dreadfully worse! Use your worst imagination and multiply it by 1000 if a picture is what would change your thinking. As for me and my house, We will serve the Lord. Amen.

  • Dr. S

So much talk of the end of humanistic days. No society lasts for ever. Yes we can expect a very different way of life in the near term. Also God will stick to his schedule and offer every opportunity for his creatures to understand it is his will we march to, not our own. Prepare for your coming change of age as a survivalist, cleric, or average joe or jane doe. It will not matter so long as you are pure of heart, Seek to be compliant to a higher standard than you are now and use too.
Chose wise who you wish to serve, for free will is a double edged sword, and your choices will be called as witnesses one day.

    • http://none Charlie

Notice at Isaiah 9:6-7 says , after decoding , King Jesus is The King of America,,,so,,,IF
you are one of The King’s People then “Survival” is not a problem , because, Isaiah 9:7 says there will be no end to His Government … So,,,
Praise King Jesus for Salvation and Healing … Acts 2:38 is salvation…

        ACTS 2:38

If people are true Born Again Believers they need not worry, the U.S wouldn’t exist if it hadn’t been in Gods plans, all anyone needs to do is read real history. The U.S. isn’t really mentioned in the Bible by name but believe we are in Ezk. 39:6, will go down with Russia after the Gog, Magog War. Everything anyone needs to know about the future the Bible says it.

  • Retired Sniper

I’m a born again Christian, though I don’t wear it on my sleeve. I don’t know many military that have been in harms way that aren’t.
Like the founding fathers though, I will defend what’s mine, and dare the devil to put a foot forward when the time comes.

  • Tom T

As a child I watched as my grand parents, who survived the depression as young parents, keep a VERY large store of food in their basement. We grandkids laughingly called it “the bomb shelter”. When asked why they kept such large amounts of food and booze he would say:

“Don’t ever think there will always be plenty, we did before the crash, and hunger is a good teacher. My father never thought that in a free country they could take away beer, forced sobriety is an even better teacher that no matter what you may think, IT CAN HAPPEN HERE!!!

    • JC

While I don’t subscribe to organized religion, I have to say that I’d rather have a God fearing Christian beside me in a time of crisis than anything else. They don’t fear death quite so much and are much more likely to stand their ground on the principles they believe in. I can’t always say the same about athiests. In this regard though, there are no absolutes.

      • GALT

Your reasoning is somewhat backwards………those who do not fear death, can not be relied on to make rational choices regarding survival……..and the stronger the “belief” the more irrational the behavior……….so you may want to rethink your choices…..

      • Jay

Is it arrogant to claim that your beliefs trump everyone else’s? “Intolerance” is now a major accusation, particularly against men and women whose beliefs leave anyone feeling left out in any way, shape, or form. Is it even possible to include everyone when it
comes to your beliefs? Could tolerance itself be a form of intolerance?

      • JC

It’s all in your perspective Galt…if you believe that “Christians are inherently irrational” then I understand what you’re saying…I don’t necessarily believe that to be the case though so I take a more positive view. I guess the word “courage” should have been included in my previous post somehow. Be well.

      • http://none Charlie

That’s because King Jesus conquered death and Commanded us “fear not” but have Faith ,,,GALT is very good at slinging El Toro dung ,so, let the reader beware ,,,then,,,
Praise King Jesus for Salvation and Healing … Acts 2:38 is salvation …
BTW , dung is good fertilizer …

      • GALT

The relationship established above is a simple one…..the stronger the “belief” the more “irrational” the behavior…….the true believer is the most dangerous and you may take the positive view if you like… are always free to ignore reality at your own risk.

Of course, one must be wary of the “hypocrite” as demonstrated by Charlie…..whose belief is expressed in “ignorance” and whose behavior illustrates the “contradiction”….
these are mere spectators and given a voice, their faith is simply words,” full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” They fear death most of all and when confronted will deny their god and faith, without a moments hesitation……..

      • JC

Look Galt. Piss off. If you bothered to read my first post (above) you would already know what sort of people I consider worthy of community. So you can put your holier than thou arrogance wherever you store the rest of your intellect.

      • GALT

Well JC you labor under the false assumption that I or any other person is required to have “beliefs”…….so your response is a demonstration of your “arrogance”…..and your
        “intellect” isn’t doing much better……..

“In this regard though, there are no absolutes.”…..which unfortunately “is an absolute”.

But I do so love these demonstrations of “rational thought”……….

      • Jefferson Thomas

@ Galt haha a google search for scientists who are and were Christians blows your assertion out of the water. Stop being a Randroid and think for yourself for a minute.

P.S. Blaise Pascal has a wager for you :)

      • GALT

You mean plagiarized “wager”…..yes, imagine how smart you have to be to accept…..and
to trade what you know to be true for that which you wish to be true……..and then
“pretending” to live your life in the dictated manner required to achieve this “magical outcome.”

By the way, I say PRETEND because you really do not believe……..or you would be seeking eternity as soon as possible…….and every day in which you do not……you risk
another eternity………( the one sinners earn )……..but mostly, it’s because you spend so much time trying to convince other’s that it is “they” who are in danger…… please continue to pray for god’s wrath to fall upon “us”………..your God does answer every prayer……..and I can tell you the answer you will receive… is and will always be……NO!

      • Jefferson Thomas

My, my…so many misconceptions (or deliberate misrepresentations?) about Christianity and so much anger about your mortality and eventual death. Actually I pray for redemption, love, and salvation and shalom. Jesus already took all of the wrath and sin upon himself. No need to pray for wrath upon you or anyone else. They bring wrath upon themselves through their rejection of the gift of Jesus Christ.

What arrogant assumptions you make my friend. Perhaps you are psychic and read my mind and you know all of my life experiences as well as what I know. But wait psychics are not within the Randian realm of possibility…correct?

We are already in eternity my friend.

Go back and re-read Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand by Leonard Peikoff to bolster your faith :) (wasn’t Rand the one who plagiarized Aristotle?)

You mean you did not google all of those Christian scientists and famous scientists who believe in God?

Perhaps if one had an open mind one could read the writings of the Apostle Paul who had a unique understanding of the Jewish, Roman, and Greek mind set. Do you know what this means?

It finally comes down to this: existence exists and has always existed or a intelligent causeless cause exists and has always existed. Either way my friend, you believe in, and have faith in something bigger than yourself.

      • GALT

Nice try,,,,,but I have no anger at all, as my life is not governed by delusion or the rejection of reality and therefor can be lived in harmony with what exists, not in constant conflict with it. ( nor am I seeking to convince you of anything that you do not already KNOW yet try so hard to deny……..claiming so hard to establish your “faith” yet confronted every day by the fact that your very nature resists it and that you are incapable of meeting that which is required by it…….you imagine that your presence here is a demonstration of your “faith”
when what it PROVES is that you have none at all……otherwise you would be at peace.)

“It finally comes down to this: existence exists and has always existed or a intelligent causeless cause exists and has always existed. Either way my friend, you believe in, and have faith in something bigger than yourself.”

That I exist does not require faith and your attempt to manufacture a proposition which
contrives to establish what is not required ( by me ) clearly demonstrates that faith is what is lacking in you. Your either/ or proposition is also flawed in its construction, for what exists cannot also not exist, and that which may have caused existence, cannot continue to exist.

      • Jay

What the atheist doesn’t seem to realize is that, he’s not arguing against the existence of God, but against religion?

      • Jefferson Thomas

        @ Galt

No faith is lacking. No hard claims needed. Faith is given to every human being and is as self evident as existence.

Please do explain more about what Reality is to me from your omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent consciousness that perceives all of the bandwidths of existence (this is sarcasm).

Do you believe in everything that is reported to your brain by your physical perceptions? Do you imagine that the construct inside your brain that you call reality is a complete and total representation of reality?

Ahhhh but my nature has been changed and is changing. I see you are calling upon your psychic abilities again to perceive my inner emotional, logical, and will states. Hence your statement “you imagine your presence here is a demonstration of your faith, when what it proves is that you have none at all….otherwise you would be at peace”. I think you are confusing peace with passivity. Nice try. One can be at peace while engaged in conflict, stressful situations, and many other different types of situations dontchya know? :)

Actually the opposite is true. My faith takes me away from the conflict I previously had with reality and brings me closer to the ultimate reality.

Sooo from to your statement “that which may have caused existence, cannot continue to exist” I can postulate that anyone who created some kind of new product, business, or medical innovation should necessarily immediately cease to exist? Are you saying that since God exists he cannot also not exist? :)

Have you ever made a business plan? Ever planned a trip? Flipped on a light switch? What is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen?

      • GALT

I realize that these concepts are beyond you……..but I require no faith to know that I exist
nor to apply my intelligence to understanding those things which can be of use because they also exist.

I do not concern myself with things that are irrelevant to my existence or it’s continuation.

You, unfortunately, are not happy with either your existence or the fact that at the moment
it appears that it will not continue………

You are therefor compelled to construct a fantasy which helps you deny this reality and the fact that you have not the power to give your life meaning without this fantasy.

Religion is IMMORAL…… are a “death worshipper”; nothing more…….and in the very near future……….you are going to have the opportunity to understand, that what you have been flailing here to ‘establish’……..which can be easily demonstrated as “the simplest explanation” for the existence of the universe……….unfortunately for you, it is of absolutely no use to you………..for while it will provide the meaning for existence which you seek…… will not be happy with the result…………

Until then, this discussion is pointless……….you are alive now, deal with that in an appropriate manner………..and we will have no problems……….when you have reaped the rewards of your fantasy…… may feel free to gloat, until then…… whatever way your “claimed faith” requires…….and share it with all those who agree.

There is no conflict between us unless you make one………..choose wisely.

LOL!!! Horton, you’ve got the wrong idea. Probably from having your head where the sun don’t shine for too long.

out IF and when the big $$$ criminals decide… Wars since Adam have been and still are
for the most part “Spiritual” and / Or psychological ,,, remember King Jesus said , “man does not live by bread alone, Matthew 4:4, but on the other hand the Giant was taken out by the under age kid David who was in top physical condition,,,but ,,,David was also prayed up and attacked the Giant in The Name of The Almighty God…
The point is , it’s a good thing to be tooled up for physical combat ,,,BUT,,,as a older guy
you may need some physical / Spiritual back up from your Guardian Angel . My Guardian
Angel has saved My butt a number of times, but , one may only recognize that after an event , when he ask himself “how did I come thru that without a scratch???”…
Most of the comments on this site DID NOT give the Scripture that will give you Salvation and The Gift of The Holy Spirit , when accomplished as written… That Scripture is Acts

Calling names….you mean like when Jesus called the Pharisees a “den of vipers” or “whited sepulchers”. Maybe you mean calling names like when Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal “Cry aloud: for he is a god, either he is talking, , or he is pursuing, or he is on a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awakened”. Names….how about threats followed by action “This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the hosts of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

It is true that it is better to tell people of the love of God and his mercy. But one must also call evil what it is.

      • GALT

Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (that means here and in the hereafter of the life in this physical body) as he is the giver and creator of all life. In him you live, move, and have your being. He is before all things and by him all things consist…from our friend the Apostle Paul in the book of Colossians .

A little research on your part and you may discover that muslims are coming to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in numbers never seen before.

      • GALT

No research required……..after all you are here, where as if your claim and faith were TRUE, you would be “over there” helping to save those poor misguided “muslims” to the correct version of the one true god of abraham……….

Religion has faced formidable foes in its history. But atheism hasn’t generally been one of them – until today. A recent string of bestselling books has put believers of all stripes on the defensive. Religion, say authors such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Christopher Hitchens, is an unreasonable form of blind faith, often leading to fanaticism and violence. Reason and science, they contend, are the only proper foundations for forming opinions and understanding the universe. Those who believe in God, they insist, are falling for silly superstitions.

This atheist attack is based on a fallacy – the Fallacy of the Enlightenment. It was pointed out by the great Enlightenment philosopher Immanuel Kant. Kant erected a sturdy intellectual bulwark against atheism that hasn’t been breached since. His defense doesn’t draw on sacred texts or any other sources of authority to which people of faith might naturally and rightfully turn when confronted with atheist arguments. Instead, it relies on the only framework that today’s atheist proselytizers say is valid: reason. The Fallacy of the Enlightenment is the glib assumption that there is only one limit to what human beings can know – reality itself. This view says we can find out more and more until eventually there is nothing more to discover. It holds that human reason and science can, in principle, unmask the whole of reality.

In his 1781 “Critique of Pure Reason,” Kant showed that this premise is false. In fact, he argued, there is a much greater limit to what human beings can know. Kant showed that human knowledge is constrained not merely by the unlimited magnitude of reality but also by a limited sensory apparatus of perception.

Consider a tape recorder. It captures only one mode of reality, namely sound. Thus all aspects of reality that cannot be captured in sound are beyond its reach. The same, Kant would argue, is true of human beings. The only way we apprehend empirical reality is through our five senses. But why should we believe, Kant asked, that this five-mode instrument is sufficient? What makes us think that there is no reality that lies beyond sensory perception?

Moreover, the reality we apprehend is not reality in itself. It is merely our experience or “take” on it. Kant’s startling claim is that we have no basis for assuming that a material perception of reality ever resembles reality itself. I can tell if my daughter’s drawing of her teacher looks like the teacher by placing the portrait alongside the person. With my eyes, I compare the copy with the original. Kant points out, however, that comparing our experience of reality to reality itself is impossible. We have representations only, never the originals. So we have no basis for presuming that the two are even comparable. When we equate experience and reality, we are making an unjustified leap.

It is essential to recognize that Kant isn’t diminishing the importance of experience. It is entirely rational for us to use science and reason to discover the operating principles of the world of experience. This world, however, is not the only one there is. Kant contended that while science and reason apply to the world of sensory phenomena, of things as they are experienced by us, science and reason cannot penetrate what Kant termed the noumena – things as they are in themselves.

Some critics have understood Kant to be denying the existence of external reality or of arguing that all of reality is “in the mind.” Kant emphatically rejects this. He insists that the noumenon obviously exists because it is what gives rise to phenomena. In other words, our experience is an experience of something. Perhaps the best way to understand this is to see Kant as positing two kinds of reality: the material reality that we experience and reality itself. To many, the implication of Kant’s argument is that reality as a whole is, in principle, inaccessible to human perception and human reason.

So powerful is Kant’s argument here that his critics have been able to answer him only with derision, as though his arguments are self-evidently fallacious. When I challenged Daniel Dennett to debunk Kant’s argument, he responded on his website by saying several people had already refuted Kant. But he didn’t provide any refutations and he didn’t name any names. Basically, Mr. Dennett was relying on the ignorance of the audience. In fact, there are no such refutations.

Like I said earlier, I don’t wear my religion on my sleeve, so you don’t know what I do.
I like to think that God gave me the “thousand yard stare” and he’s done pretty well by me so far.
It wouldn’t be fair to him if I didn’t use my God given intelligence to prepare for what’s coming. l will defend my family quite well, and as far as the four “gubmint” snipers goes, well, they may be good for cops, but I’ve done a little different kind of sniping, going into the bush by myself for weeks at a time setting up for a target. it’s a little more involved than what they teach now a days. One of my good friends was a man named Hathcock and Carlos and I shared a few missions together. That’s the kind of sniper I am.
…..and Galt, keep thinking I’m dangerous. That’s a good thing for you to do. I’ll take a Christian Marine with me on any mission. Nuff Said.

  • Jefferson Thomas

@ Galt who says ” I realize these concepts are beyond you” ….keep up your false sense of intellectual superiority my friend. Before you make a statement about someone not being able to understand perhaps you should inquire into the background of that person and into what studies that person has been involved with. I have read and studied “Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand by Dr. Leonard Peikoff”, Philosophy: Who Needs It?” by Ayn Rand, “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand, and “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand.

I have also read some of the works and books of Nathaniel Branden and Barbara Branden. Of course Nathaniel and Barbara Branden were excommunicated and shunned by the Randian cult leader for not following the doctrines of their chain smoking, adulterous, and narcissistic “leader”. Btw if Ms. Rand was so “objective” why did she not stop smoking as it is bad for the health of the person who smokes. Could she not overcome the chemical cravings of her body and brain for nicotine with her objectivist thought? Logically one could what smoking does to the health of a person many years ago. If she was so “objective” one would think she would have been able to see what happens when one commits adultery and the damage it causes to all parties involved.

I have read and studied almost all of the writings of Dr. Frank R. Wallace the founder of Neo-Tech (fully integrated honesty) who I think did a much better job of putting together and improving on the ideas of Rand, Aristotle, and others..

So if you think my rejection of many of the ideas of Rand are based upon ignorance or lack of understanding then you “grabbed the wrong pit bull by the ears”.

I am very amused by the labels you use and the fact that what you put in a negative light has almost a completely different meaning in my understanding that is 180 degrees the other way in the positive.

If as you say religion is IMMORAL…then you are IMMORAL in the light of my understanding of religion because you are very religious. From Websters New World Dictionary – Religion 2. a) any specific system of belief, worship, conduct, etc. often involving a code of ethics and a philosophy b) any system of beliefs, practices, ethical values, etc. resembling, suggestive of or likened to such a system (humanism is a religion).

While these things in the word of God that I believe in may be irrelevant to your existence, they are my reason for existence. Of course I defend your right to state your beliefs and faith as long as you do not initiate force, coercion, or fraud against any person, his property, or his contract. :)

You are right…I am not happy with my “existence”, I am happy with LIFE and I will take LIFE over existence and just existing any time.

Actually because of death I worship the giver of Life and Life Eternal the One who conquered death. You’re 180 out again.

Who is “flailing”? I found this to be an amusing sidetrack from a very busy work week last week. While the stakes are eternal (remember the wager?) it does not mean I cannot be amused at your attempts at mental acrobatics.

While I reject a lot of the ideas of Rand she does have some valid points which I believe for the most part can be attributed to her Jewish heritage, coming out of Russia when she did, and her right belief in the idea that man should be productive because of the influence of her father….Of course Brother James said this in the Bible almost two thousand years before Ayn Rand was a twinkle in her daddy’s eye ” If a man does not work, neither should he eat”.

Ms. Rand could have saved herself a lot of time if she had simply referred to the writings of Solomon, a man who was her superior in wisdom, intelligence, accomplishment, and life experiences. Ecclesiastes, Proverbs, and Psalms are calling your name Galt.

I have already reaped many of the rewards of reality…Thank you very much.

Conflict? Are you going to initiate force against me Galt? Are you threatening me? This sounds like it is running counter to the teachings of your master. I have not threatened you with force, coercion, or fraud. I do believe in self defense though my friend.

Your other babbling about the simplest explanation for the existence of the universe is meaningless.
