What The Marching Food Stamp Army Looks Like

Back in April, I wrote about The Silent Army. This is the army of almost 50 million (now) people who depend upon the government for their food.

In that article I wrote:

How far do you have to stretch your imagination to think of these 47 million people as a “food stamp army?” They certainly will become an army of terror, stealing and pillaging for food within just a few days after their food stamps are stopped for one reason or another.

You no longer have to stretch your imagination at all. It was on full display last weekend when the computer system that runs the Electronic Benefits Transfer system crashed in 17 States.

The EBT system — the new food stamp program — is essentially a pre-paid debit card system in which government food benefits are transferred to a card on a regular basis. When groceries are purchased, the amount of the purchase is deducted from the card and the card cannot be used again until a new balance is restored.

When EBT card holders realized the system was broken and could no longer read their cards, they became angry. Some of them threatened to riot. Some stores — particularly a couple of Louisiana Wal-Mart stores — decided to honor the cards as if they had full balances. EBT holders rewarded them by ransacking the stores — essentially stealing all the food they could carry. Store managers told news outlets it was like a tornado went through the stores.

When the system came back online and people realized they could no longer loot the stores without consequence, they left full shopping carts sitting in stores aisles and walked away. According to reports, one woman ran up a bill of $700 even though her card had a balance of just 49 cents.

Note from the Editor: Hyperinflation is becoming more visible every day—just notice the next time you shop for groceries. All signs say America’s economic recovery is expected to take a nose dive and before it gets any worse you should read The Uncensored Survivalist. This book contains sensible advice on how to avoid total financial devastation and how to survive on your own if necessary. Click here for your free copy.

What I told you in April I reiterate now. People in America who are getting free food stamps consider it a right rather than a privilege. This attitude will be very bad when the food stamp system fails, as it surely will when the worthless paper money system collapses as it did in the Weimar Republic in 1923.

With economic depression comes government oppression. Economic panics, famine and social breakdown come about as a result of depreciation and devaluation of a paper currency. There is a direct connection that few people get. It’s happening now!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture began sending out notices last Friday (before the glitch) to States to “hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefits transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.” If this occurs, it will get ugly very quickly.

    2. Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, I think this pretty well describes the situation today, especially amongst the big O voters.

    • doktor don

That warrants a, “Ha – Ha!” You quote the Bible; then, use one of the, “no-no’s” cited in the passage to, “out,” the President. Can you spell, Hypocrite?

      • RobinPC

Yes, it is spelled d o k t o r d o n (who can’tspell doCtor and doesn’t know that his name should be capitalized. Need more grammar lessens?

        • Lucy

          Ummm….Robin…it’s lessOns.

            HAHAHAHA

        • doktor don

That comment earns you another, “Ha, Ha!” Spelling is intentional – – Pea Brain – – and, you bit! Doktor of Truth sometimes carries a dark, undeniable message. Small cap on initial? Don’t need the personal aggrandizement. I tend to be a brilliant, social, economic, and political analyst. Will try to get you, “up to snuff!” Hang around; and, follow along.

It is common practice for people that have no argument to worry about spelling, it shows how bloody ignorant they are.

          • Barakolips

That makes you pretty damn ignorant does it not?

      • got my licence

        Hey KG. Is that you?

  • Doc Sarvis

More fear and loathing. Oh, and by the way, the top 10 defense contracters each get more of our money than the Food Stamp program.

    • S.C.Murf

Something else we need to take a look at, right?

      up the hill
      airborne

    • CatGman

Loathing. Yep, that about sums it up.

    • Pete0097

Yes and those top 10 contractors also pay millions of dollars to hard working people every month as well. The money doesn’t just go away, people get it and use it to buy stuff so that other people (unfortunately mostly Chinese) can also have jobs. Now if those manufacturers had plants in the US and the defense contractors only bought from US companies, we could get the country going well again and those on food stamps might not need them.

      • doktor don

Our Warfare State, unfortunately, kills many Minorities & the Poor; so the Merchants of Death can Prosper. It is primarily the Poor & Middle Class; that possess some semblance of Patriotism. Some join, because, they are unable to get jobs. And the Kids of the top 10%? Don’t ask! It’s embarrassing!

      • Doc Sarvis

To be more accurate, it pays millions to the CEOs and just an existence amount to the line workers. Good point about the Chinese; we also give those CEOs/businesses tax breaks to take the work overseas instead of paying Americans.

        • Steve E

Doc, you sure do show your “liberal” colors with your “talking heads” BS. Stop listening and STUDY!

        • Barakolips

And pay union labor costs? Its no wonder jobs are going to china.

        • TheOriginalDaveH

That class envy must be quite a burden on you, Doc.

        • speedle24

No Doc, the government pays millions to the defense contracting companies for products. Those companies choose what to pay their CEOs, not the government. It’s called free enterprise. If they are charging too much for the products the government should find another contractor. It’s called competition. To the extent that doesn’t happen, it is the fault of the bureaucrats awarding the contracts (either graft or stupidity).

    • doktor don

Really, Doc? Talk about an Abomination! Only goes to document the fact that the U.S., has been a Warfare State for Decades. One can assume too – – that Capitalism doesn’t work; without a Military Industrial Complex to prop it up. Further; our GDP has slowly dropped since Nixon took the Country off the Gold Standard. Now, the Slick don’t have to work – or, Produce anything! They can just profit by using OPM; or, the Feds.

    • B

Your a real piece of work!!! I bet you don’t work!!! Contrary to popular belief this is not an entitlement!! And those that EXPLOIT the system are spending hard working American taxpayer money and have NO SENSE OF SELF RESPONSIBILITY!!!

      • Doc Sarvis

I am a FINE piece of work – thanks.
I DO work everyday and have all of my adult life. I’ve had employment scares at times but never lost my job. In those times I am glad there was a safety net in case I needed it and I am glad others have the safety net as well. In any safety net program there are a small number of those who exploit the system and Food Stamps is no different. Most of us, including those who are on hard times possess self responsibility. While we should endeavor to find those who exploit the system we should not damn the system that gives many much needed help in a time of much need.

        • Steve E

“a small number of those who exploit the system”??? Are you a nut job or what? You must be wearing those blinders again. Be fair and study. Try again. Over 50% of this nation’s households get some sort of hand-out. When I was young, you would be shamed til you got on your feet. Now it’s just a freebee to these “No loads” don’t be a fool. Don’t just listen to talking heads on the boob tube! Study things for yourself. That “Doc” you tout has to be Cereal box/Crackerjacks Mtrl.

          • Chester

Mr. Ellis, I am betting that you get or more of those handouts yourself, or have in the past. If you attended college any time in the last twenty years, there were handouts all around you, and would bet some of them found their way into YOUR pocket as well. And truthfully, the people who ABUSE the system aren’t as big a percentage as you would have us believe. Of course, after your little rant, you would rather close the whole thing down than see one abuser get away with it. I hear the same for Medicare, millions of dollars are lost to fraud, so just shut it down, it won’t kill the people who aren’t abusing the system to have to PAY for their medical care. Funny thing is, it isn’t usually the users who abuse it, but the providers, and they DO get caught and put in prison.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

No person has a right to ride on any other unwilling person’s shoulders, no matter what his misfortune.

          • Glenn Taylor

huh? If everyone that exploited the food stamps were in prison 1/4 of the population would be in prison, idiot.

          • Steve E

You are mistaken. I have never taken any sort of welfare in my life. I’ve lived in the woods eating Nestles Quick with water. I’ve returned unemployment checks because I had already found new employment. I worked as hard as I could and was rewarded FOR MY WORK. I am old and not able to do much but I still enjoy getting something for my efforts. So you lost that bet sir.

          • Chester

Sir, if you are old enough to be retired, whether by choice or force, most likely you DO take advantage of things that are available to you only because of your age. Granted, some of those have nothing to do with the government, directly, but you would be surprised how many places can use those giveaways as tax writeoffs.

          • Steve E

Not all Americans are users sir. You will have lost another bet. God bless the US.

        • Vis Fac

I wouldn’t take that as a compliment Doc. Just because you haven’t lost your job (YET) doesn’t mean you wont. When the SHTF you’ll need more than a safety net to survive you are going to need skills to survive.

One thing owing a business has taught me, you can never rely on things being constant. Orders get canceled clients don’t/can’t pay material costs get steeper taxes get higher regulations become more strict and then the bottom drops.

Unless you own a crystal ball you will never know what’s ahead. Unfortunately with the economy as fragile as it is and ODUMBO doing his utmost to ruin our nation collapse is just around the corner.

You are MISSING THE POINT, it’s not a safety net, it’s being exploited and you know it, there is no defense of a system that is this broken, and you just wait, Health care in this country is going to double in cost for those of us that work, it’s broken already and it just started, you wait, liberal mindless )(*^)*%*^)(

        • speedle24

Yeah Doc, I’ve been behind some of those “in need” in the grocery store. They are buying beer, cigarettes and electronics with their money and food with my money. So your idea is that instead of making sure we are only giving to those who truly need help, we should just overgive by 50% just to make sure no one is left out, is that correct?

    • Vis Fac

And you know of this how? I used to provide some prototype machinery to defense contractors they are not rolling in dough until they deliver their product then what they get is quickly absorbed by their expenditures. Now you really want to know who the bandits are? Our government who sells arms to our enemies.

  • HueyDude

There was a segment on one of the LSM channels a few nights ago about how much the Food Stamp program has changed since Obummer came into office. Before 2009, a single person, with no kids, who was able to work or look for work, was able to get food stamp benefits for 3 months. With all the libs in office that year, a law was passed that took away that maximum benefit. They guy in the segment was a beach bum in CA that just collected his EBT benefits every month, surfed every day, and crashed at friends’ houses. And they wonder why the system is broken. I understand that some people need help, and some may need it longer than three months, but guys like this who have been hanging on the government teat for four years are nothing but parasites.

So prove to me that every gov’t program isn’t a trainwreck, no oversight, no working EBT platform, obamacare, no vet benefits, no death benefits, pay em even if they don’t work, cash for clunkers, SSA, medicaid, medicare, child exemptions, make work pay, va hospitals, nepitism in contracts, pay to play, etc. We have a completely corrupt and out of control gov’t. Support congress to try to keep their power of the purse, and their power on oversight. We have to get control of this cluster *%#k

“The U.S. Department of Agriculture began sending out notices last Friday (before the glitch) to States to “hold their November issuance files and delay transmission to State electronic benefits transfer (EBT) vendors until further notice.”

I can think of few things more evil than this totally unnecessary move by the leftist administration in DC. This is the clearest indication to date that Obama is willing to allow Americans to go hungry, and suffer the food riots and chaos that will follow, merely to make political hay so he can deflect blame to the Republicans.

Henry Kissinger declared in the 1970’s, “If you control the oil you control the country; if you control food, you control the population.” The Food Stamp President and his USDA have ENCOURAGED the augmentation of the food stamp rolls from the day he took office. Now we see why.

This is in my mind the “nuclear option” that Obama is prepared to take if debt ceiling “negotiations” go south (that word in quotation marks because Obama doesn’t know the meaning of the word).

Not letting a crisis go to waste is one thing; fomenting a crisis that is COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE is quite another. If Obama allows these November EBT transfers to be suspended, he will show to the world not only his absolute pettiness as a political hack, he will put the lie to the highly touted claim that liberals care about the welfare of human beings.

Stopping the payments would be unconscionable; threatening to stop them is further evidence of the low life types that now inhabit the hallowed halls of government…types of people who would let people riot and loot just to gain a political advantage.

My distrust of this government has risen to such levels that I would lay even money on the bet that the EBT computer did not crash on its own. I wouldn’t put it past these tyrants to have engineered a temporary outage as a test run.

    • rick0857

Well as of today all this is a moot point, Mitch “Surrender at all costs” McConnell has kissed the rings of MAObama and Reid again.
However on to your point of MAObama being evil enough to do this, yes he is and he would do exactly that…withhold transfers for these foodstamps for one reason and one reason only to push the freelaoders into a riot so he could declare Martial Law and confiscate every firearm in America. Then turn his jack booted thugs at DHS, FBI, CIA, NSA, TSA, IRS, and BATFE on the American people with orders to shoot to kill anyone who defied “THE NEW SOVEREIGN” The Supreme Ayatollah Barrack Caligula Hussein MAObama.

    • TheOriginalDaveH

      I agree.

  • rbrooks

another red welfare state. why are all of these red states so dependent on welfare?

    • Vigilant

Quite simple: the blue states are in charge of government policy-making.

      • rbrooks

bush and the gop passed that farm bill that gave immigrants the right to receive food stamps. they must have all been liberals from blue states.

    • speedle24

Because that’s where all the illegals are. Are you suggesting that blue states like New York, Illinois and California are on firm financial ground?

      • rbrooks

illegals are not getting food stamps. it is all of those poor republicans and the legal immigrants.

california receives $.78 back for every dollar they send.

louisiana receives $1.78 for every dollar they send in.

        • Jana

Oh yes they are. Where did you get that crazy idea?

          • rbrooks

from the lack of any proof of your propaganda.

        • speedle24

That’s really an impressive statistic Brooks. I would say comparing one of the poorest states with one with an economy the size of most countries is about as lame an argument as I’ve heard. Immigrants born in this country of illegal immigrants are legal immigrants (and many on welfare). As far as I am concerned they are all illegal.

          • rbrooks

your opinion really does not matter. the law says they are legal. if you want to make a change, fight to stop that.

btw- the majority of states that receive more back than they pay in are red states.

          • speedle24

Same response for you Brooks. You are referring to the red southern states that have been poorer since 1865 for a multitude of reasons. Consequently your relativism is not applicable as an argument. What is more relevant is the fact that they are poorer states, and still reject the welfare mentality (by being a red state). In other words they are trying to get out of welfare death spiral, while the left wing states revel in their drunken ride down the highway to hell.

        • deborah21

What? California and Louisiana receives money back. What money? Do you mean federal tax dollars? Where does that money come from? Oh yeah, Tax payers. And you are mistaken to think for one minute illegals don’t get benefits. We pay their medical bills, we give them food stamps to feed their anchor babies. If they work, we deduct a portion from their earnings so they receive more food stamps, which a citizen does not receive. We find more abuse by illegals regarding income and household composition, yet we can not recoup the money as they are exempt, unlike a citizen.

  • Steve E

These people (for the most part) are not dependent on this EBT crap. They just see it as getting free [expletive deleted] Cut em off except the real needy and let em riot. This crap will get sorted real quick. If they do riot this prez will get his way and institute Marshall Law. It’s ALL about control. Manipulation….

    • TheOriginalDaveH

Absent Government, the truly needy would get plenty of help from private charities on local levels where they can actually see if the people are truly needy or just freeloaders.

      • Chester

Dave, you had best go talk to those LOCAL charities and see what would happen if the federal and state governments QUIT supporting so many people. Many of them are already running at or above capacity due to this shutdown. With NO foodstamps to help, many people would, quite literally, be starving in the streets.

        • TheOriginalDaveH

BS, Chester. It is you Liberal Progressives who have caused the poverty by supporting Leaders who stifle Private Enterprise by giving special privilege to the Crony Capitalists and by taking money from the Producers to give to the Non-Producers. That results in fewer goods and services and thus more people in poverty.
If we had Free Markets, unfettered by Government, there would be work for anybody who wanted to work, and with the ensuing Prosperity there would be ample charity for those who really needed it.

          • Chester

Dave, you had best take another good, hard look at who is handing money right and left to the “Crony Capitalists’. Seems like it is your favorite group, the Republicans, who keep handing tax breaks to the HUGE corporations, and to the top 1% of the top 1%. IF we had FREE markets, such as you insist are so great, working conditions would not be fit for man nor beast. Might take a look at what the conditions were like in the late 1800’s to get an idea as to what true, uncontrolled capitalism can and does lead to. Mine explosions and cave-ins were nearly a weekly item, factory fires with multiple deaths were very common, and the only ones counted as being responsible for any deaths were the workers who died. If a high steel worker fell off a building, he was fired before he hit the ground for walking off the job. Again, uncontrolled, FREE capitalism.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

You don’t have a clue, Chester. For one thing, I don’t favor the Republicans. But the tax breaks affect all companies. Regulations, on the other hand, aid Big Corporations over Small Companies. I don’t have time to elaborate right now, but you need to do some real studying and thinking so you can quit being a dupe of the Leaders and their Crony Capitalists.
Okay, I’m back. Here’s the deal. Both Parties have their Crony Capitalists who seek special privileges. Some Crony Capitalists work with both parties. Those regulations you Liberal Progressive Followers swoon over, are usually meant to hobble competitors of the Crony Capitalists. Sometimes the Politicians are just using the regulations to enthrall ignorant voters, but even then, the Crony Capitalists are well-healed and can afford a cadre of lawyers and accountants to jump through the hoops, while their smaller competitors can’t afford it, so the Crony Capitalists still win.
The taxes that you Liberal Progressives think are damaging those Big Bad Corporations in fact are just passed on to the consumers. The people are the ones who really pay them in higher product prices or lost jobs. So the Politicians get to buy your ignorant votes without really damaging their Crony Capitalists. The jokes on you, Chester.
There are so many books and articles out there that you could read and learn what’s really going on, but that would require some effort, and an admission to yourself that you’ve been preaching nonsense to your friends all these years.

          • Steve E

I think Chester may be an Ozombie….

          • Chester

Have studied a lot of those “books and articles” then studied the authors as well, and very few of the authors practice what they preach. Might actually want to check up on the author of this blog and see how he lives, as opposed to how he keeps saying we SHOULD live.

          • Steve E

            OriginalDave,
You work, you eat. I like your sentiment.

        • Steve E

In the first place, who’s fault is it they are using food stamps to survive. Theirs (many are lazy and trained by generations of users) and this govt, pushing people onto the system in one way or another. This govt wants you to be dependent on them. It’s always about control. If they would just slowly restrict who can receive these TAX dollars, people would start being responsible for THEMSELVES! Yeah right…. Wishful thinking.

          • Chester

Don’t know about where you live, but not that many FAT anythings come in with foodstamps, or WIC coupons, around here. Some are a bit bigger than ideal body mass, but not a lot of FAT. As far as being a lot of people who are generational welfare users, hardly so here. For one thing, too far from home to store for them to walk, and no dealers around to sell them that bright, shiney new Lexus on time payments that he knows he will be picking back up in a couple of months. Yeah, know the welfare crews you are thinking of, but not a lot of them like to live where there is a good chance they might actually have to work for some money, just so they can get to town to get those “free” groceries.

  • Steve E

The most obese population in the US is the food stamp recipients! Think again about assisting those that just want a free handout! Probably 10% of these are in need. The rest have worked the system and are NO LOAD freeloading vermin.

  • Steve E

    • Chester

Might want to look and see what you can actually buy with the food stamps you get to feed a family of four. For sure you aren’t going to be buying the freshest veggies, or the leanest meats, or the best for you of much of anything, or you will NOT have enough food for the month. Powdered milk for your breakfast cereal, and made a bit thin to stretch it for the month, bag cereal instead of the name brand stuff. Cheap chicken, maybe a couple of pounds of hamburger, and a LOT of pasta and breads. You buy what will fill bellies, not necessarily what is the best for everyone. Might want to try buying a month’s supply of groceries for a family of four with two hundred dollars worth of food stamps.

      • TheOriginalDaveH

Sounds like personal experience. Which explains your mindset.
Chester says — “Might want to try buying a month’s supply of groceries for a family of four with two hundred dollars worth of food stamps”.
Might want to try getting a job, Chester. Nobody has a right to ride on other peoples’ unwilling backs.

Yes to that. If you cannot afford kids, don’t have any. Yes, you have a RIGHT to as many kids as you want [can afford]-as I have a RIGHT not to have to PAY for your kids.

          • Chester

Didn’t ASK you to pay for my kids. I was holding a decent paying job when equipment decided it was time to quit and let ME down, along with my brother-in-law, rather abruptly. My safety equipment was in place, but apparently was attached to the wrong piece of metal.

My husband also had an accident where he was hurt and laid up for almost 5 months. I learned how to make beans in a variety of ways that was delicious and kept my family fed and nourished. By the way, beans and corn make a complete protein.
Oatmeal is extremely good for breakfast. Those being the staples, I expanded and we were able to have fresh fruit (in season as they are cheaper) and milk is just as cheap as powdered at my grocers. Fozen veggies are wonderful. We ate healthy, and I even developed homemade recipes for Bisquick and was able to make biscuits and corn bread. We also had pancakes for a treat every once in a while. It was extra work on my part, but that was my job.
Then, I went out and started substitute teaching to help out. NO, we did not get food stamps. NO, the girls did not get free meals at school.
When there is a will, there is a way.

Pinto beans (or other dried beans), rice, and Potatoes. All are filling foods and are not considered fattening by themselves. A grocery we shop at occasionally sells pintos in bulk for those who wish to purchase them that way. A big pot of pintos fixed with a piece of salt pork served over rice with cornbread Now that is a meal and if you have some fresh turnip greens to go with it so much the better.

I agree, I raised 3 boys by myself two were over 6’4″ and over 300 lbs, football players and one heavy weight wrestler. Worked 2 jobs, made a pot of beans or a big batch of spaghetti to last a week. Milk was a luxury, yet 2 boys college grads with good jobs, one career military. I taught them to work hard and get a good education so they didn’t have to live like we did. Never thought about welfare as an option.

          • Chester

Would take the pintos and fat back with the cornbread and without the rice. Many a Friday night supper was that, or similar. Will agree with the fresh greens, preferably wilted down with a bit of bacon fat and vinegar heated up and poured over.

When my husband was first hurt and in hospital 45 miles away for 3 weeks I learned to mix half full fat milk with half dried and kids never knew difference. Luckily, living on the farm we had beef, pork, chicken, fish turkey and venison. Plus almost 2 acres garden. Wasnt food stamps we needed but the cost of his 20% of meds being $400 of his $1004 disability for a family. I had to quit work several times over the 4 years he lived but never asked for help until I was turned down for medical insurance due to pre-existing when the insurance I had through his work was lost.

        • Chester

At that time, I was totally disabled from an on the job accident involving a fall of over a hundred feet. The kids were already there, so had to be cared for, one way or another, and Social Security Disability sure didn’t pay for everything. I have lived both sides of the line, the good and the bad, and food stamps can be a life saver when you can NOT get a job, regardless of the reason. But, and here is what so many people fail to see, you do not get enough in food stamps to afford the quality of food it really takes to maintain the best of health. So, you buy the food that stretches and stretches. It may keep the belly full, but will be a lot heavier on starches and fats than is really recommended.

I don’t care what you have to give up, Chester, you don’t have a right to ride on other peoples’ unwilling shoulders.
You also have no idea the lifestyle of those who must pay for you. They could very well be scrimping and saving, trying to get ahead, just to have people like you helping yourselves to their money. You have no right to judge what others have done to earn their money. All you need know is that it isn’t your money to take — by yourself or with the help of the largest Gang in the world.

Glad you survived that terrible of a fall.

          • Barakolips

That terrible fall screwed up your brain nut licker!

          • Chester

Timbo, go find that little boy you were playing with and tell him how sorry you are that he didn’t get to finish the job he started. After that, go find that priest that got you started and ask him to go for a long walk with you. Maybe after that, you will have found the breath to talk with some sense.

I raised 5 healthy boys on less, by myself… no child support, no food stamps, & no hand outs. It took concentrated meal planning, and no garbage foods. You don’t need meat for every meal to eat healthy. Food stamps is not supposed to be your sustaining food allowance, it is supposed to help for a short time. Problem is, people today look at food stamps as a right, and not a privilege and have become dependent on them for survival.

        • Glenn Taylor

          Amen.

      • speedle24

Who the hell says someone on food stamps should have “name brand” products? Geez man, we are really off the rails in this country.

      • 10-Nov-1775

But most of these people are on line with smart phones, have newer cars, and probably some kind of cable/satelite tv service.
Huge texting plans, and big screen TVs. But they NRRD food stamps?

      • 10-Nov-1775

Meant to say “NEED food stamps?”

      • Don 2

What’s wrong with powdered milk and bag cereal? As children, we were raised on it because it was cheaper. Nobody bought it for us, and we didn’t expect anyone to. We didn’t cry the blues about it…..hell, we didn’t even think twice about it. Powdered milk is better for your health than whole milk anyway. I know divorced guys with good jobs living on pasta and bread. Stop your whining, you big sissy.

      • med1616

BS, the only Rib Eye steaks I’ve ate in years was bought on an EBT card (not by me), and I’ve ate several in the past few months. I’ve never had a food stamp nor and unemployment check in 72 years, And the stupid liberals call me an uneducated hillbilly redneck. Own my own home outright, three vehicles, a boat and a JD tractor to take care of my few acres. Screw the liberals with their nose so far in the air they’ll drown if the get in the rain.

      • deborah21

Not true! I person receives $200 per month. Not $200 for a family of 4. I work for the welfare dept in my state. SNAP is supplemental…it is intended to supplement NOT buy all the food. Quit having kids that I have to support. It is very common for recipients to have 10+ kids. Plus most schools now provide free breakfast and lunches for low income kids AND family members. I have seen recipients buy crab legs in bulk with their cards. They buy cold cereals and sodas. I suggest you spend the day at the local welfare office to see what really goes on. Too bad a tv station and our politicians don’t hang out for about a week. A real eye-opener.

      • Barakolips

Your a moron, I see 300 pound black ladies with stuffed carts buying t bone steaks with their ebt cards and driving off in a Lexus!

    • Glenn Taylor

Right, fat poor people with healthcare, it’s going down the tubes, down the tubes and we sit back and watch.

  • JimH

When the National Parks used to be open, the rangers would warn about feeding the wildlife. The animals would become dependent and forget how to forage on their own.
What the government doesn’t want us to do to a chipmunk, they have no problem doing to people.
    Don’t become a chipmunk.

    • TheOriginalDaveH

      Good point, Jim.

    • Sick of NY

That comment right there, Jim, makes every other one irrelevant. Well said ! All of the supporters of the progressive movement don’t realize just how much damage they are doing to the country and themselves by demanding handouts. Their eyes are clouded by promises of trinkets. I don’t bother to worry about it any longer, if the country collapses because of this crap most of us will still be smart enough to feed our families on our own, and actually eat healthier ;-)

  • TML

“Some stores — particularly a couple of Louisiana Wal-Mart stores — decided to honor the cards as if they had full balances.”

Well, that was really stupid. They asked for it.

    • Steve E

They asked to be robbed? ASININE!

  • Americanworkers1st

Disgusting! Until we do something to stop these people and illegal aliens from breeding it’s only going to get worst! I don’t care what anyone says, those are the worst problems America has! Bad genes breeding, only makes democrats, dictators, and destruction (hence OBAMA!) That’s the biggest difference, before the devils with the last name of Kennedy, we only took the worlds best and brightest, since then John built the welfare state and his cousin rewrote immigration laws so now we take the worlds worst genes, including making ridiculously easy to sneek in as a illegal alien. Thanks for the destruction of America Kennedy’s! We need to end immigration period for a few years!

    • Chester

If that is the case, how is it there are so many conservatives around. Oh, that’s right, good Catholics practice the rhythm method, and all that is is guaranteed parenthood, multiple times over. Don’t see a lot of upper class families, which is what the Republican party seems to represent, with a LOT of kids. One, or sometimes two, is the normal for a family earning more than a hundred k a year.

      • Barakolips

        Your birth was a mistake!
