What Foreign Policy Debate?

What Foreign Policy Debate?
UPI

Phew! Aren’t you glad that the Presidential debates are finally over? Don’t you wish that all the political ads, phone calls and emails were as well? Is it just me or has the political season seemed extra-long this year — and extra-nasty, too?

The final debate last Monday turned out to be far different from what I expected. I was surprised that it was Mitt Romney, the Republican challenger, who was cool, calm and collected. While it was Barack Obama, the Democratic incumbent, who came across as the feisty street fighter, throwing all sorts of punches (a few of them below the belt).

Remember, Obama was supposed to have a huge advantage in this go-round, just because he is a sitting President and Commander in Chief. Instead, he came across as a snarling and snarky underdog — albeit one who was certainly well-prepared.

More on that in a bit. But first, I want to comment on the biggest surprise of the evening: how lightly Romney let Obama off the hook. I thought there would be a huge outcry over the murder of four Americans, including our ambassador, at our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and the fact that the Administration tried to disguise what really happened there. Indeed, Bob Schieffer, the moderator that night, must have expected the same thing, since this was the very first question that he asked.

Two days before the debate, I told a group of friends that I hoped when the subject came up, Romney would look directly into the camera and say something like: “When I am President, I promise the American people that I will never allow my press secretary, my ambassador to the U.N. or anyone in my Administration to mislead the public as happened after the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11.”

That sure would have gotten the fur flying. Apparently, Romney decided that it was more important for him to “act Presidential” during the debate than to go for the jugular. Aside from one remark about an “apology” tour, I thought he was surprisingly gentle and restrained in his criticisms of Obama.

But all of that is really just an introduction to my main point today: It’s hard to have a meaningful debate about foreign policy when the two candidates agree with each other about 99 percent of the time. Let’s face it, folks: Both Romney and Obama are members in good standing of the establishment’s foreign-relations club. They both believe in an interventionist policy; their only disagreements are in relatively minor details.

Both supported sending our troops to Afghanistan. Both endorsed a gradual withdrawal of U.S. forces there. Both insisted that the Afghans had to take responsibility for defending their own country.

But how about subjecting Germany to the same standard? Or Japan? Or Great Britain? Or any of the hundred-plus other countries around the globe where U.S. troops are stationed? How about insisting that some of these countries begin providing for their own self-defense? (Or maybe argue about Donald Trump’s suggestion that we at least bill them for our services.)

Foreign aid? They’re both in favor of it, with just minor disagreements between them. Our membership in the United Nations and its various regional subsidiaries? Nothing to argue about there, folks.

The whole “there’s nothing to debate here” attitude made me wish that Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate for President, had been on the stage Monday night. Or even better, that Ron Paul had won the Republican nomination. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, would have meant a real foreign policy debate.

Remember when George Wallace used to argue there wasn’t “a dime’s worth of difference” between the two parties? Well, when it comes to an internationalist foreign policy, you can knock eight pennies off the total. Today, there isn’t 2 cents’ worth.

So does it really make any difference who gets elected on Nov. 6? Yes, I believe it does. Let me tell you why.

I believe that the biggest issue of this election — in fact, the single biggest issue of my lifetime — is the growing power and cost of government. Here in the United States, we’ve allowed the Federal government to become dangerously large and inefficient. (Thank goodness we don’t get all the government we pay for.)

Now, I don’t expect Romney and Paul Ryan to lead a crusade to bring back Constitutional government. In fact, I think it is likely that the Federal government will be bigger and more expensive when they leave office than it will be at the beginning of their term. That’s what happened during Ronald Reagan’s two terms, and Romney is no Reagan.

So, no, I don’t expect miracles if Romney wins. But I know what will happen if he loses. Obama has already made it clear that his big-government redistributionist schemes will go into overdrive. The Barack Obama who campaigned as a moderate will not be the same person who takes the oath of office in January (an oath to “preserve and protect” the Constitution that he has no intention of keeping).

If Obama wins, it will be Katy-bar-the-door time, folks.

Yes, it will definitely slow him down if he has to contend with a Republican majority in the House. It will be even better if Republicans win control of the Senate. But, frankly, the President won’t even need new legislation from Congress for much of what he wants to do. A lot of the increases are built into existing law.

And where he can’t get Congress to go along, he’s shown that he’s perfectly willing to appoint unConstitutional czars (he has 23 of them so far) and issue new executive decrees to achieve his aims.

So, yes, this election matters — maybe more than any other contest in my lifetime. Not because Romney is the greatest champion we could have; I hope I’ve made it pretty clear that I don’t think he is.

But he’s sure a lot better than the alternative. If you can’t vote for Romney with enthusiasm, then do what a neighbor of mine says he’s going to do: Hold your nose when you cast your ballot.

In a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News survey, a group of likely voters was asked, “How much difference [will] the election make to you?” In 1996, only 21 percent said “a great deal.” By 2004, that number had increased to 45 percent. But this year, a clear majority of 55 percent answered “a great deal.”

I think they’re right. And that’s why this year, I’m going to hold my nose and vote for Romney. I hope you will, too.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

Yes,I was extremely disappointed with Romney! After YEARS of describing his differences with Obama, he CAPITULATED on every major point. He and Ryan also seems to be “drifting” on their economic message. It is going to be difficult to vote for such – I don’t know – weakness, dishonesty, blatant pandering?? What will he REALLY do?

    • Jeff

Romney will always follow the path of least resistance. He has never shown any political courage in terms of standing up to his base. He is surrounded by Bush Neocons who will dictate foreign policy as they did during the Cheney years. More belligerence, more blundering, more Halliburton. Fortunately, enough good people should prevent that from happening. All Romney really wants is to control the Secretary of Commerce so he can outsource every factory job to his factories in China. Want to see what Romney’s America will look like? Take a look at Freeport, Illinois.

      • Patriot

Really Jeff, Freeport, IL the democrats have run this state into the ground, they are wrong on every policy choice, that is why there are no jobs. We are bankrupt because the working tax payer job’s have left due to the excess of the unions, regulations and miss management and the hoodlums in Crook County, start with Madigan and you will find the problem! I have lived in IL my whole life, I am sad since I came from nothing and created jobs for others and now I am considering leaving this state! When your taxes paid are 60% or more of what you make, then you are really a slave to the state. This is the whole point of Atlas Shrugged, when the hard working people that actually do the right things decide they had, had enough then we are all in trouble. This is happening slowly and people had better hope that out out-of-control government soon realize’s they need to massively reverse course or we will all live in poverty for the forseeable future.

The only hope now is Romney, at least he shares the same values as a true American and will listen to reason and has business sense. If not, we chnage direction in 4 years again! There is much work to be done, I understand that Romney is not the optimal choice, but he is the only choice. Let the hard work for the next 250 years begin now, I for one, will not look back at history knowing that I did not do everything possible to help my country reverse our devasting direction. A vote for anyone else is a vote to destroy our future and give us no chance!

        • Jeff

What does the IL state government have to do with Bain following the Romney lead in closing the Sensata factory after record profits so they can ship the jobs to China to make more money? That may be good short-term business for Romney and Bain, but it is not good social policy for the U.S. Why would anyone vote for someone who ALWAYS has his bottom line in clear view and doesn’t believe the government has any obligation to those who may need help? This exactly why it’s a bad idea to elect a business person, particularly one like Romney, to the presidency.

What makes you think Republicans are more patriotic than Democrats? Romney would sell his mother for a profit and he’ll tell you ANYTHING to make the sale (i.e. get elected). Republicans are all about me, me, me and somehow that’s supposed to be patriotic? One thing you guys are good at is commandeering language. “Family values” is a good one. Of course, in practice it always means corporate values. In a contest between the demands of the family and the demands of the job, the Republican will ALWAYS side with the needs of business.

      • Warrior

Patriot my friend, you get it. It’s almost criminal that others cannot see the forest through to trees and let themselves be led around by their noses. This guy is a “fraud” that was invented by the “crook county demonrats” Remember how they treated Harold Washington? They swore after he died in office, there would never be a black mayor again in chicago. How did they accomplish this? The progressive demonrats, developed a scheme to remove whole areas of low income housing by getting surrounding suburbs to open up more section 8 housing and voila, black population plummeted in chicago. In very short order they were replaced with hispanics. Oblamy is nothing more than a bi-product of this progressive machine and he takes his orders well, just like a puppet should. Anybody who thinks otherwise is absolutely clueless.

      • eddie47d

The Freeport Ill story is important because those workers were making $14-17 dollars and hardly union wages. Bain took Sencat Technology apart and shipped those jobs to China. The union didn’t do that and it was done strictly for CEO profits. The CEO kept his job and the 131 workers were laid off. That is the new America that you relish.

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “Romney would sell his mother for a profit”.
Now here’s a man (Jeff) who has his gaze firmly fixed on other peoples’ wallets, and he has the temerity to whine about Romney seeking to make profits by pleasing his customers?

        • tony newbill

Jeff rather than believe in his own self reliance and the rights of theirs self reliance he would rather trust our rights to be self reliant to a dictator who Ideologically wants to control the rate of consumption to save earth from a Destructive economic system we call the free markets , and those free markets if allowed to operate freely with a FREE Interest rate driven system will self regulate in the key areas our growth in supply needs and stabilized cost of living is the result . We have Not had this Right because Ideological politicians have been meddling in our free markets system and its time for this to END NOW !!!!

        • Jeff

Dave, I don’t care how much money Romney has. I hope he chokes on it. It’s how the money was made that I object to. His greed knows no bounds. He’ll close a factory, put hundreds or thousands out of work, transfer the operation to China, and then proclaim himself a great American. Sorry, you can get rich as a vulture, but don’t expect people to like it.

          • tony newbill

Jeff listen free marketeers have only the policies we are given to work with and that is all that Romney and any of the other capitalists have done . Its the politicians that need to be charged with Treason for first passing a Trade policy that gave away the USA ability to hold trade Nations accountable for their tarriff free dumping on USA markets regardless of WHO lobbies for the Excuse of lack of enforcement of Rules like Currency floats and other BULL that under a Reagan GATT trade policy we had balance trade and solvent sovereign industrial might and Jobs . Get Real Obama just wants a Jobs program that Gives Him Votes with No regard to whether supply is growing faster than demand , he and his environmentalist Marxists will deal with demand through their NAZI healthcare BILL that They have Not even wrote the Rules for yet !!!!!!

          • Jeff

The problem with that argument is two-fold. First, when you’re running for president, you need to show more than just a ruthless ability to make money. Secondly, the “rules” Bain and Romney utilized to get so rich were not decreed on Mt. Sinai. The tax loophole that makes the Bain style of capitalism profitable was written into the law by lobbyists hired by Bain and others.

            http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/01/bain-lobbying-saved-mitt-romney-millions

To see how Bain continues to do business and make millions for Romney:

            http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/on-mitt-romney-bain-capital-and-private-equity-20120829

          • tony newbill

Jeff those who really got rich are Buffet , gates and the Liberal Capitalists who took way more advantage of a failed economic Policy thats why they feel so bad that they want Obama to tax everyone higher as they shift their profits into non profit organizations to avoid paying tax all together , and this will continue and so the tax the rich political policy Obama is chasing is yet another failure in his do anything but Grow the Supply-side markets that will actually generate higher tax revenues , all because he will lose his Environmental Marxist voters and then he would have to become a Conservative if he wanted to stay in politics as a career ….

      • eddie47d

That’s a good one Dave H “Romney pleasing his customers” . I don’t think fired or laid off workers would agree with you since they are the “customers” he bought out. Romney got the gold mine and the workers got the shaft.

        • Jeff

DaveH (aka Creepy Bastard) is a true believer in Ayn Rand, the market is always right, make money or die economics. Romney made money; therefore, he’s a great man. Apparently, according to the H Brothers (Jeff and Dave), raising someone’s taxes is the equivalent of Robespierre chopping off their heads.

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “His [Romney's] greed knows no bounds”.
Disclaimer: I don’t much like Romney, and certainly wouldn’t vote for him.

Imagine that. A guy (Jeff) who wants to take other people’s money has the nerve to talk about somebody who earned their money from voluntary buys and sells as being “Greedy”.

        • Jeff

Voluntary buys and sells? Is that what you call it? Romney and Bain manipulated the system, then took advantage of these “loopholes” to make millions. He closes factories that are operating profitably, ships the jobs to China where they can find workers to work for slave wages, then has the nerve to proclaim himself a great American. I appreciate the fact you won’t vote for him. But is there no limit to the amount of manipulation permitted in business? BTW: you never really answered my question about the 19th Century.

      • eddie47d

Hey Jeff what is a slave or two to Conservatives for that worked very well for them in the deep South.

      • DaveH

What question? Do you think I read every one of your inane comments, Jeff?

And if you have proof that Romney Forced anybody to sell or buy his companies’, Jeff, please enlighten the readers with some references, because we sure aren’t going to take your word for anything.

      • nickkin

Jeff….so you have all the confidence in a limp-hand, commander-in-chief, soon to be commander-in-chump….4 dead americans……kind of goes with obozo’s theme, “forward” to doom…..hope you don’t know anybody in the military.

    • Doc Sarvis

Romney endorsed President Obama foreign policy in that debate.

      • Jeff

Since when does anything Romney says this week bear on what he will say next week?

      • DaveH

        Obama’s broken Promises:
        http://www.wnd.com/2009/03/91286/

      • Viet Nam Vet 67-68

Doc you wish !!! What Romney said is most of what he was doing was OK but not enough and he explained . Abominations policy has been to back the Muslim Brotherhood and helped them get elected to run Egypt aqnd he has helped radicals in Syria and Libya and will continur to do so and as far a Bengazi we now know he did not say Bengazi was a terrorist attack that next day he was referring to the 9/11 attacks, he knew 2 hours after the attack that it was a Terrorist Attack because a Drone was above the area and streaming the information back and they wer at the White House getting Emails from the Miliatary and people on the ground and also Faxes. So the LIAR in Chump Abomination for the next two weeks lied and blamed the Video and even three lefty newspapers said for the first time someone in the White House said it was a Terrorist Attack and that was on the 20 of the month. New york Post, New York Times and one other paper which I forgot said for the First Time. So Romney was correst about Abomination knowing and LIEING AGAIN. Its ABOUT THE ECONOMY STUPID AND WE ARE WORSE OFF THAN WHEN CARTER WAS PRESIDENT AND REAGAN BEAT HIM 47 STATES TO WHAT??????? Viet Nam Vet 67-68

      • eddie47d

Nice try 67-68: The Benghazi attack was on 9/11 and mentioned the next day and on 9/13 Obama was in Colorado and did mention that terrorist attack.

      • nickkin

So do you support the new debate that’s to come now—decision to “let them die”…..?

        • tony newbill

I think the only part of Obama foreign policy Romney was agreeing with was his stance on Syria , but thats every changing at this point even with Obama . But lets dig into the Libyan crisis a little and ponder what really might be going on here …. Consider that Qaddafi WMDs were Loose and the seals and covert operations in the region were rounding up those arms and trying to shift them to Syrian rebels to help over thrown Assad ?? And the Money Changers who are Constantly working all the time to keep the dollar relevant and the exchange medium and the means to exchange , it is possible to assess that The Embassy in Libya was attacked because the Oh so Loyal Arab Spring rebels Obama was fist bumping with turned on him cause they wanted the Weapons to chase this Money themselves ??? Obama should have known better , this shows his weakness and lack of experience in dealing with rouge elements , hes way out of his League here !!!! http://www.cnbc.com/id/49243050/Syria_accuses_U_S_France_of_arming_funding_terroristsJeff

TLGeer is not in any way a credible source.

        • http://tlgeer.wordpress.com tlgeer

Lol. Nice try DaveH. In what way am I not credible. I give sources and links to my sources. And the sources are not opinions, they are the actual documents or statements.

Will you answer this (assuming that you answer at all) with facts or will you just call me names?

          • Jeff

Creepy Bastard doesn’t answer questions. He just tells you the TRUTH according to his favorite Austrian (presumably different from JeffH’s favorite Austrian). Just don’t ask for any of his MONEY!

      • DaveH

I am merely reflecting your nonsense, TLGeer.

    • ableton

He will lose. Most of the 43 percent will be motivated to vote for Obama because their benefits form the government keeps them alive and Romney and the NEOCONS have promised to take them away. The rest of us are disappointed with the choice the RNC has made for us and because of this there will be massive apathy. People will either stay at home or lodge protest voting against all incumbents. The enthusiasm to vote for a loser who could not even beat a loser like McCain is really uninspiring and staying at home will be the result except for some of the reaming middle class.

      • tony newbill

Ableton Obama is flaming out with this Libyan crisis he has covered up . this makes him WORSE than Romney regardless of what Romney ever was , because this is am Impeachable Offense obama has on his hands , he is now in the bunker in the last days of his term as a failed presidency !!!!!! History will record this Lybian fiasco as the worse hanlding of a Batched foreign policy any president ever has handled . Its a Derelictions Of Duty to the highest offense !!! And it makes NO SENSE at all Unless you consider that He was Letting the Muslim brotherhood run his Foreign Policy there and they were ordering the strike teams that could have saved the Ambassador and the seals were Pawns that the Brotherhood used to get those Blood thirsty radicals motivated to attack and take the WMD cache that was stored there from the Qaddafi stock pile that was Loose in the Region ..

This is Obama’s 45 point plan – Though it was written and submitted into Congressional records on January 10th, 1963 making it nearly 50 years old. Take the time to read his plan and compare these goals to what we have today. This congressional Record fits Obama and the Democratic platform to a “T”, and nearly all goals have been accomplished. Keep in mind that this was written and submitted into official records nearly 50 years ago, also keeping in mind that much evidence has lead to Frank Marshall Davis being Obama’s alleged Father and mentor. http://www.obamasrealfather.com/

The following is Obama’s plan and he has even made quotes directly from this plan through out his Administration. I encourage any and everyone who thinks Obama is their Messiah to research and study these goals that are officially entered into Congressional records to see where they are taking us. If the wording is too hard or long for you, take a deep breathe and absorb one sentence at a time before moving “FORWARD” to the next sentence.

      Communist Goals (1963)
      Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35 ^ | January 10, 1963

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

      IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

      Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

      CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

      1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

      2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

      3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

      4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

      5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

      6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

      7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

      8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

      9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

      10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

      11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

      12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

      13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

      14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

      15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

      16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

      17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

      18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

      19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

      20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

      21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

      22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

      23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

      24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

      25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

      26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

      27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

      28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

      29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

      30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

      31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

      32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

      33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

      34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

      35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

      36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

      37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

      38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

      39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

      40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

      41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

      42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use ["]united force["] to solve economic, political or social problems.

      43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

      44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

      45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

So all in a nutshell, Wildfire, we have to bow down, be pacifists, lay down our arms and succumb to the enemy ! I guess that is what we desreve for being world bullies. Of course, the Brits, germans etc., might have a different view….now we have to fight again to defeat the enemy, the obama regime. Fortunately, our weapon of choice is voting.

      You are a fool….

      • eddie47d

It was Wall Street, greedy but very creative mortgage companies, banksters and a few other assorted creeps that got us into this last financial mess Sailor so maybe you are the “fool”. Romney played that same game and made millions just like those “honest” banksters did. Maybe neither candidate is a good choice but stop fooling yourself!

    • DaveH

Ah yes, the old Preemptive Strike rationalization. How lame. Killing is Killing except in self-defense, and we can hardly call it self-defense when WE are the Intruders.

  • Warrior

This I know for sure. If, by chance the progressives somehow win, over the next four years the private sector not practicing “crony capitalism, will be obliterated. That’s how Utopia works. Not a believer? How many of you are better off now than four years ago or even last year? Show of hands please. I for one have lost net worth every year under this regime and with this burgeoning debt and green investment strategy all we’ll see is more and more taxes. Don’t believe still? Look no further than the solutions that come from NY; Calif. and ILL over the past four years.

    • Paul b

Well, Warrior, I can’t actually say that I have lost any net worth over the last four years – even given the fact that my wife was “right-sized” out of her job 2 years ago. Our house value plummeted in 2008 (like everyone’s) but just last month a couple of houses (comparables) sold at $130 a square foot. I’m pulling for $150, but $130 is a vast improvement. We are also in the market (passively – with “indexed” mutual funds). We left the funds alone (mostly 401k’s) and they have resurrected to new “highs.” Since the “bad old days, we have averaged $400 gains per day. So….?

      • Warrior

Good for you. I see you like “Bubbles”. No more QE, there goes your 401. Oh, and what’s left is fair game. Enjoy.

      • DaveH

As I explained to Jeff earlier, Paul, those “gains” are in dollar name only (nominal), unless your 401K is in hard assets.

        • Jeff

I can’t help it if you’ve invested poorly, Dave. Maybe now you see why privatizing social security might not be too smart. But I thought hard assets have mostly appreciated in value.

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “I can’t help it if you’ve invested poorly, Dave”.
Oh? And you base such nonsense on what? Of course it makes sense that a guy who thinks he knows best how to make other peoples’ choices, would think that he knows my investment prowess (or lack of).
What’s it feel like to be an Elitist Pig, Jeff?

    • Jeff

You remind me of Al Franken when he was on SNL introducing the “Al Franken Decade.” Every policy was evaluated: “I know you’re all thinking – How does this affect me, Al Franken?” Of course, that was comedy and you’re “serious.” You made poor choices in your life and you want to blame Obama for them. Stop whining. Suck it up. Be a man. Outsource a company. There’s billions to be made. Just ask Romney!

      • nickkin

Hey Jeff…here is a financial tip for you……I wish I would have had the opportunity to invest my SS input with Romney……maybe I wouldn’t have to start another business @ 66. Find a filthy, smart business person to invest for you….or will you be relying on obozo’s redistribution plan?

    • Warrior

Well comrade, I do know what I’m talking about. I live in the area that this pretender was “invented”. I know all the dirty little secrets about the “machine” and how it functions. So why don’t you “man up” and edumacate yourself.

      • DaveH

Don’t hold your breath, Warrior. Jeff is a zealot and will follow his Leader all the way down the drain.

      • Jeff

So, you know “secrets” that haven’t been uncovered by Fox News, Glenn Beck, etc.? Call me skeptical. Dave, the last time a population followed an Austrian, look what happened.

      • DaveH

What are you talking about, Jeff?
You get nuttier all the time. Is desperation setting in, because you know your agenda has no legs?

        • Jeff

As usual, no responses? Typical for a Creepy Bastard.

      • DaveH

Creepy Bastards (like yourself, Jeff) talk in riddles or double-speak because they know that their ideas have neither moral or logical support.

      • WILDFIRE

“This I know for sure. ”

No, you don’t. It’s only a guess. And probably fear. But then that is only a guess, too.

“If, by chance the progressives somehow win, over the next four years the private sector not practicing “crony capitalism, will be obliterated. That’s how Utopia works.”

Utopia is not real, it is fiction. Why would you compare real life with Utopia. That makes no sense.

“How many of you are better off now than four years ago or even last year? Show of hands please.”

I am, my son is, my brother is, so is my son-in-law.

“I for one have lost net worth every year under this regime and with this burgeoning debt and green investment strategy all we’ll see is more and more taxes.”

Were you losing any net worth before 2009?

This economy had been in free-fall for quite some time. Long before Obama was elected. The steps that Obama and Congress took stopped the free-fall, or at least slowed it down.

And it is not a regime, it is an Administration. As all the President’s have had Administrations.

What percentage of taxes did you pay after all of the deductions were taken?

As you know, as someone that owns a business, it is stupid to lower your income when your debts stay the same or increase. That is what Bush did.

If this country could be run like a business (government can’t be by their very nature), if it was audited, the auditors would have been asking why there were two sets of books. One for the business, the other one that took money out of the business under something like “extraordinary expenses” and then used that money for things that should have been in the first set of books. (Afghanistan and Iraq).

Right now we are at the lowest tax rates since the Great Depression. We got that way by the last 2 Presidents (Bush and Clinton). We cut those rates without finding another way to increase our income or cutting our spending. It is now too late to cut the spending because it would put too many people out of work, which would send our economy in another free-fall. What we need is to increase our income, which translates into people working.

Is your company losing business because of the lack of customers? Most likely it is. If people are working they spend money on more than just the basics. The money that they spend helps to support the manufacturing and sales of what they are buying. That creates a kind of waterfall, or domino, effect. It also increases the income of the local, state and federal income, and that helps to lower the debt.

I hate when people say they know something for sure. NOBODY knows anything for sure unless it’s proven.

        • tony newbill

Karolyn we know that Government does not know how to spend money on making more money and tax revenue with it let alone expand the supply and make sure the bread basket is full so why give them More taxes ????

      • Warrior

I want to honor my son, Ty Woods, who responded to the cries for help and voluntarily sacrificed his life to protect the lives of other Americans. In the last few days it has become public knowledge that within minutes of the first bullet being fired the White House knew these heroes would be slaughtered if immediate air support was denied. Apparently, C-130s were ready to respond immediately. In less than an hour, the perimeters could have been secured and American lives could have been saved. After seven hours fighting numerically superior forces, my son’s life was sacrificed because of the White House’s decision. This has nothing to do with politics, this has to do with integrity and honor. My son was a true American hero. We need more heroes today. My son showed moral courage. This is an opportunity for the person or persons who made the decision to sacrifice my son’s life to stand up.”

The direct quote from Ty Woods Father. “progressives are dispicable people” Are u one of them? The REGIME left our Fellow Americans to die. And you support this. You people are a waste.

      • http://tlgeer.wordpress.com tlgeer

Warrior, I am so sorry for the loss of you son. Knowing that he was doing his job is not enough to comfort you on his loss.

I lost my oldest son 6 years ago last Thursday. He was 26.

Take care of yourself. And remember that everyone experiences, and shows, grief in different ways. Also, no one can read your mind, so if you need something from someone you have to tell them. Especially when they have lost the same child. They will be hurting, too, and may not see that you need something.

Drink a lot of water. In the fog of loss, you may not remember to do so. If our brains do not get enough water, they do not operate efficiently.

        Again, I’m so sorry for your loss. {{hug}}

    To Everyone:
This argument plus statements that have been made on this subject is proof of the pudding why i voted for Gary Johnson. At least, Mr. Johnson would end our nation’s occupation in other countries and bring our troops home. This nation over bloated military budget is one of the reasons why our country has such a huge deficit. TGIF!!

    • Scott in SC

Tony, I agree. Mr. Wood’s points are why I would never vote for Romney. Until the GOP elites pick a nominee who is a true conservative that believe’s in the Constitution they will not get my vote.

      • sailor

Yeah Scott, give the vote to the one who hates our Nation…dumbass!

      • DaveH

        Sailor, you’re the “dumbass”.
We have no hope of every achieving Freedom unless we start voting for Freedom.

      • Scott in SC

Comrade Sailor, go on with your brainwashed party loyalty and watch what comes of it. I’m supporting a true American, Gary Johnson.

  • charles holbrook

the only way I see out of this mess is to writ in vote for RON PAUL WAS ONLY ONE THAT MADE SEINCE TO ME.The rest was saying what the people wanted to here.

Why haven’t you liberal idiots not realized the Omoron represents the Trojan Horse…anyone who stands against Israel will lose.

    • Jeff

Loved your portrayal of Luca Brazi. Now I see you were just being you.

    • Doc Sarvis

There are liberal idiots just as there are conservative idiots. Fortunately, the majority of Americans voted President Obama in the last Presidential election. Considering the choice this year he would be the smart vote for those who value America, American values, and the majority of American citizens. A vote for Romney is a vote for the top 1%.

      • DaveH

I’ve got news for you, Doc. A vote for Obama is ALSO a vote for the 1%:

So OHIO are you Going to Vote for Yet again Obama because He says he will get you manufacturing JOBS and then He drop the ball like he did before ?????? I think we need to try someone NEW maybe he has a WHOLE NEW IDEA !!!

Right here in this article 2008 Hillary and Obama are at each others Throats about the Manufacturing Jobs in OHIO and how Clintons trade policies were at fault for the Out sourcing , and then Obamas Economic Adviser says don’t take it Serious Folks ,
        http://www.boston.com/news/politics/politicalintelligence/2008/03/clinton_goes_af.html

If Romney wants to WIN Ohio he needs to run a ad saying Obama said he would fix manufacturing in 2008 when he was running against Hillary and Once he got her Out of his way this Issue was abandon , So Ohio do you want to Reelect Obama only to be Abandon again or Elect a New Manufacturing Vision by a Proven Business leader ???

        • Jeff

You deserve Romney. If he’s elected, you should be the first victim of his outsourcing. The rest of us don’t deserve that jerk as President.

    • Paul b

What’s with the name-calling? Can your comments be sustained by reasoned discussion? RON PAUL is a SOLID cconservative and a straight-shooter! Mitt Romney cannot be trusted (unless I’m missing something – please inform me!). I’m pulling for a Romney loss, so the Republican “establishment” can become DIS-established and the REAL conservatives can take over the party. (I believe we can “survive” 4 more years under Obama. If Romney wins, the REAL conservative party will die!)

      • godhelpus

You must be smoking something because unless you want to have all your rights taken from you Obama needs to be gone.. I can’t believe you can’t see the writing on the wall!!!!!! No rights no freedoms no anything…. Bow to the King..

        • Jeff

You’re both idiots. If any Republican had Obama’s accomplishments, you’d be carving his likeness on Mt. Rushmore. He’s brought the economy back from the abyss after the dark days of George W. Hoover. The stock market has doubled in value. He rescued the auto industry. We’re no longer losing 750,000 jobs per month as when he took office. You have lost no rights whatsoever. All you guys have is paranoia, resentment, bigotry, and xenophobia.

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “The stock market has doubled in value”.
Do you Liberal Progressives ever even come close to the truth, Jeff?
The stock market started declining dramatically after it was obvious that Obama was going to win the election. And it didn’t hit bottom until 2 months after Obama took office. The “gains” since then have been nominal at best because the Federal Reserve has pumped the money supply up hyperbolically. More money chasing the same amount of goods results in Price Inflation for goods and services, including stocks. The stock market “gains” are merely an illusion.
        http://mises.org/content/nofed/chart.aspx?series=TMS

        • Jeff

You know, Dave, I heard Rush Blabberbaugh say toward the end of 2008 that Obama was to blame for the market’s nosedive. I didn’t think I’d ever find another person crazy enough to believe such nonsense and then, voila, DaveH shows up. And I suppose the gains in the market are because investors, beginning in mid-2009, were looking forward to Romney (or Ron Paul) becoming president?

How much MONEY have you made while Obama’s been in office? How much did you lose under George W. Hoover? I know, you were for Pat Paulson or somebodyelse with no more chance of becoming president than you have.

      • DaveH

For those who think Jeff is anything but an ignoramus:

        • Jeff

          • tony newbill

The gains in the Market after Obama took office was due to the Stimulus Steroids that he and the Federal Reserve pumped up the market with , and we just saw Lance Armstrong have his strips taken away for Doping and so should this Administration as well !!!!

          • Jeff

So the stimulus worked? You might want to let some of your compatriots know as they keep saying it did NOTHING!

Excuse me? Bringing down the economic system? I think you meant Obama’s predecessor, George W. Hoover. If Obama is a communist bent on destroying the world’s economic system, he’s really lousy at it. I know that Creepy Bastard disagrees, but the market went down to 6,500 right after Obama took office and it’s now at 13,000+.

          • tony newbill

Jeff that 13 K is all due to Obama and the Federal Increasing the DEBT by 8 Trillion bucks with no end in sight

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “And I suppose the gains in the market are because investors, beginning in mid-2009….”.
I already explained to you that the “gains” are in name only, Jeff. What part of money creation/price inflation do you not get? Who were the first to get the Federal Reserve Bailouts? The Crony Capitalists of course.
Good Grief. Now I understand what prompted Beck to title his book “Arguing with Idiots”.

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “Dave, your name-calling and condescending attitude are the reasons I refer to you as Creepy Bastard”.
No Jeff, the reason you call me “Creepy Bastard” is because I regularly make you look like the fool that you are, so having no logical or factual comebacks you must resort to adolescent manipulative techniques.

        • Jeff

Dave, if your arguments were as good as you say, you would have no reason to put people down as much as you do. If I recall correctly, I first made reference to you as a CB a few months ago when I attempted to engage you in a discussion and you came back with personal attacks. I recall saying DaveH is one CB.

The liberal/progressives have been in conflict over the 1%, Wall Street, Banks and the rich for quite a while now.
        1. They hate the 1%
        2. They hate Wall Sreet
        3. They hate the banks
        4. They like to blame all three for a major part of the economic downturn
        5. They despise hedge funds and their managers

Pay close attention here…what’s wrong with this scenario?

The liberal/progressives prefer to judge the economy based on the stock markets growth and applaude Obama’s economic policies(?)for all of this. Yup, the stock market is the best way to judge our economy…especially if you’re a 1% hater.

Before a man speaks it is always safe to assume that he is a fool. After he speaks, it is seldom necessary to assume it.

“The liberal/progressives have been in conflict over the 1%, Wall Street, Banks and the rich for quite a while now.”

        Really? Let’s see.

        “1. They hate the 1%”
Nope, some of my family is in the 1%.

        “2. They hate Wall Street”
Nope, I liked my stock broker. We made a good team until I had to start selling my stocks when I became ill. Even then he helped.

        “3. They hate the banks!”
Nope, I like banks. I just want to reinstate the laws that were made to regulate them during the Great Depression. My Great-Grandfather was the Head of one of the banks that went under during the Great Depression. I know what happened very well. And I know that many, many people lost their homes because the banks they had they mortgages through went under.

“4. They like to blame all three for a major part of the economic downturn”
Not at all. There were a lot of reasons for the economic downturn. Not just those three. And they had been going on for years. Anyone who was reading the financial papers saw it happening. We all tried to protect ourselves, but nobody can tell the future.

        5. They despise hedge funds and their managers
        Another Nope.

The fact is that you don’t know what you are talking about. All you are doing is repeating things that you have heard, but have not taken the time to verify. You might want to work on that.

      • JeffH

tlgeer and Jeff, both liberal/progressives make my point. Is this conflict? Absolutley!

      • JeffH

One more point to make…both Jeff, who seems to have a Nazi fetish” and tlgeer still believe Obama is a “natural born citizen” despite the historical hard facts that have been presented to them over and over.
        http://www.federalistblog.us/2008/11/natural-born_citizen_defined/

        Again, is this conflict? Absolutely!

      • JeffH

Progressive Jeff, you really stuck your foot in your mouth with this one little sentance…speaking of simplistic?

“Very few people begrudge those who make a real contribution to society(with?)their wealth.”

      • eddie47d

The real Jeff should just ignore Jeff H for he has never understood the Banksters and anything about their manipulative policies. Jeff H says he wants things to change in Washington yet how can he when he endorses the Wall Street hacks that put us in this mess. Jeff H practices being deaf, dumb and blind each and every time there is a financial scandal and sweeps the information under the rag. The Keating Bankster scandals under Republican Reagan were bad enough but the Bankster scandals under G Bush were even worse. When it comes to Corporate crime Jeff H is always on time with full endorsements and no denials.

      • DaveH

Jeff (the guy who claims to disdain name-calling but does more of it than anybody else on this board) says — “As is generally the case with committed Nazis, JeffH’s arguments are both overly simplistic and completely misleading”.
No doubt that there are Crony Capitalists who through their Crony Politicians get special protections at their competitors’, their consumers’, and the taxpayers’ expense, but the Liberal Progressives, who claim to dislike them, ignorantly support Big Government without which the Crony Capitalists would have no choice but to please the consumers.
Jeff has been hanging around this board making his useless comments for plenty long enough to know that both Democrat Leaders and Republican Leaders cater to Crony Capitalists. Yet he persists in claiming that the Democrat Leaders’ version of Big Government is somehow different. He is either extremely ignorant or he is purposely trying to mislead the readers of Personal Liberty.

      • DaveH

Of course, TLGeer, JeffH was generalizing and what he said doesn’t apply to all Liberal Progressives, just most.
TLGeer says — “I just want to reinstate the laws that were made to regulate them during the Great Depression”.
Are you talking about Glass-Steagall which was created largely by the Rockefeller group to hobble their competitors — the Morgan group?
The Glass-Steagall which allowed the banks to count Government debt instruments as reserves instead of just Gold?
You see, TLGeer, you have just drunk the Kool-Aid and have no real idea what you’re talking about. The banking regulations are just a tool designed by those who are politically connected to feather their own nests at the expense of their competitors and the rest of us.
You could end that ignorance by reading this book:
        http://mises.org/Books/historyofmoney.pdf

But you won’t, will you, because it might upset your Propaganda Applecart?

You must be so proud…I can just feel it in your comment.

As for gas prices where I’m at in Fresno, still around $4.29+- at the majors like Shell, Chevron and 76 but I have a Valero a mile or so from me that was $3.89 yesterday and the mom & pops are running $4.05 – $3.99…just terrible in California. I can only imagine San Francisco and Los Angeles price are probably still at $4.39 – $4.99.

        How’s Tim doing…getting better?

    • http://tlgeer.wordpress.com tlgeer

      Whatever.

      • Frank Kahn

Young lady, I would like to put together two of your posts information and then pose a question that is very real to people with morals and ethics.

I distinctly remember you saying that you are living on SSDI and food stamps. I assume this is due to your disability caused by your illness, which normally I would say qualified you for the PUBLIC support you are receiving.

I wont try to argue the legality of your entitlements.

I will point out that one of the biggest problems with SS is the fact that people are getting it that should not qualify by virtue of the availability of other sources of support.

Ten years ago, when I was not in the 1%, I used to help support my less fortunate relatives when they were on hard times. I donated thousands of dollars to their survival. I have also, back then and even today, given financial aid to less fortunate people in other countries. This is something I learned from the bible (giving alms to the poor). It is not just a matter of family, it is compassion for those in need.

Now to your later post, and my point.

You stated that some of your family is part of the 1%? WHY DONT THEY SUPPORT YOU? I DONT WANT TO. Do you get the point about how YOU LIBERALS are sucking us dry by refusing to use your own money to do what is needed. Your 1%’r relative could support you with no visible diminishing of their vast fortune.

        • http://tlgeer.wordpress.com tlgeer

Well, first of all I worked and supported the people drawing draft’s each month, knowing that when I needed help the current workers would be there for me. That has worked for 80 years. And it has worked well.

As for my family, they helped me a lot, but there comes a point when to do so is not equitable. When I started getting sick, it took me a long time to even acknowledge that I wasn’t able to work anymore. The majority of the US is the same way. We just aren’t geared, or raised, that way.

My family helped after my IRA and stocks were no longer there. But there comes a point when it is not welcome on either side. They have their children, grandchildren, etc. And they are not getting any younger either. There comes a point when the giving comes to an end.

I earned this. I did not earn the money from my family.

I am not taking one thing away from you, I am taking what the social contract with the other workers in this country paid into. I worked for almost 25 years. I raised my son by myself. I put away as much money as I possibly could because I didn’t want to rely on just SS after I retired. That is gone. And the penalties for taking my money out of my IRA weren’t small.

So, I live on my own, where I want to, and I am independent. I am using what I’VE earned. The fact that it is not very much (under $800) doesn’t change anything. But it sure would be nice to have those stocks back.

          • Frank Kahn

The main talking points on the problem with SS lasting is the number of people going on SS is out tasking the number of taxpayers paying in. If this is true then you are taking money from current tax payers.

I dont say you dont deserve it, I said that your family should shoulder the cost more.

I am also in that hated category, I pay more taxes each year than most people make. Your small subsistence is not a major problem for me.

I am just trying to point out that the burden on SS needs to be reduced.

I have friends, who have multimillion dollar accounts and assets that insist on getting their SS retirement checks. I believe that is wrong. This is what I am against.

          • tony newbill

FRANK KAHN It would be one thing to see a progressive tax system that works to offset the wealth inequality BUT the Problem I see is that at the same time we need ROBUST SUPPLY SIDE GROWTH in the Market place and with the ANTI-GROWTH environmentalists who RULE Obama and democrats with their Bullarky about OH we cannot Hurt the Earth with this Consumer driven market is why it will NEVER WORK !!!!!!!!

          • Jeff

            Tony:

Honestly, any English teacher would have a fit. Write a declarative sentence saying what you mean. Your post goes in circles and contradicts itself to the point no one can tell what you’re saying. Stream of consciousness writing can work if you can actually write. I gather you don’t think much of environmental protection. Perhaps you should take a tour of Beijing where there are few, if any, environmental protections. Some of us still remember the days when rivers used to catch on fire.

          • tony newbill

Thank you Jeff I am honored to be told I have good intentions by you .

          • Jeff

So you’d like to return to the rivers-on-fire era?

          • tony newbill

There is no reason for the Restrictions on Growth , but its because the Environmentalists FEAR there is No way to be safe while expanding production at rates equal to or above population growth and so we have cost of living inflation now killing the capital system and wiping out the Middle Class and the Liberals remedy is take some of the existing supply from some and redistribute it to others while doing nothing about expanding supply driving down costs and keeping demand supplied for all , this is why we are going over the fiscal cliff . Thats the thing about Liberals its either nothing or give me your stuff for nothing

          • Frank Kahn

Your post falls into the category of HUH WHAT COME AGAIN.

I have to agree with someone else here that you need to submit a thesis statement at the beginning of your post. And please make it a thesis statement that is supported by what follows.

I will attempt to answer your HUH WHAT COME AGAIN post.

The post from me that you were responding to did not contain the words progressive tax system. Nor was it implied in my post. If you inferred it then you are mistaken. (that is to the HUH part of your post)

A valid and properly administered progressive tax system would have no effect on SS, because it is a separate entity from income tax. (that is to the WHAT part of your post)

Now to the COME AGAIN part. This is very hard to address because it has nothing to do with your original statement about taxes. It really doesnt have much to do with itself either. It kind of, sort of, maybe indicates that you are complaining about capitalism, but then it almost sounds like you are talking about supply side economics, and then it might be you are at odds with environmentally sustainable economies.

If you would like to try again and be a little more verbose in describing exactly what it is you are objecting to, then I can maybe understand you and respond accordingly.

      we must remember,
“We must remember” to fact check before posting. Sen. Barack Obama was not a guest on Meet the press on the day noted.

“We must remember” that some people make their living doing satire. Quoting this story as fact is akin to quoting the Colbert Report as a source of conservative information.

“We must remember” that people do buy into this sort of thing and then pass it on as fact, never taking the time to consider just how ridiculous it sounds. You can’t depend on others to do the footwork for you.

“We must remember” that when someone, like you posts foolish stories, like this as fact and then extolls “EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA NEEDS TO READ THIS, SO KEEP IT GOING ! ! SAVE AMERICA BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE ! !” You make a fool of yourself and those of like mind. Don’t let your hatred blind you to the obvious.

The bottom line is getting rid of obummer, the very first and imperative step. You libertarians are wasting your vote and helping obummer who will ruin our country permanently. Is this good citizenship? Your guy lost and now you need to pick your battle which should be sending obummer back into oblivion. obummer has total disdain for our country and countrymen plus a socialist agenda. Anyone voting for him will not only get a lot more than they bargained for but they’ll have to explain to their children and grandchildren how they helped destroy a free republic based on personal work ethics and self-responsibility, thus making them slaves to the state.

    • Jeff

Your post is 100% bluster and resentment, 0% information. Why bother?

      • Frank Kahn

Actually it is your posts that are mostly bluster and “false” information. If anyone would want to desecrate Mt. Rushmore with a bust of Obama, it would be the insane left wing Obamaphiles. You keep stating erroneous examples of what your wonderful Muslim has done for this country.

You keep ignoring the true state of the economy.

You refuse to listen to the facts stated by all the researchers I have read about how we are “not” currently diverted from falling off the cliff. I would prefer to call it hitting the wall. Our deficit, and the accumulated debt is not improving. I dont care if you claim that the increase in budget deficit is caused by Bush years or not, it is increased and that is bad no matter who caused it.

Obama did not save the auto industry, he saved the unions at GM and Chrysler. 80% of GM production is in China, so he helped China more than us.

I cant speak for the whole country but, where I live people are hurting BAD for lack of jobs. This has not improved in the last 4 years, in fact it has gotten worse in the last 2.

Instead of spewing Democrat dogma, why dont you find some new and informative INFORMATION to bolster your views.

        • Jeff

[comment has been edited]. Most of the opposition to Obama is racially based and you know it. Listen to Romney’s top surrogate John Sununu. He’s called Obama lazy and he’s suggested Colin Powell endorsed Obama only because he’s Black. Col. Wilkerson, Powell’s long-time aide, has stated that the Republican Party (“his party”) is “full of racists.” why does Romney maintain his support for Sununu and Richard Mourdock?

I have shown how the deficit is mostly the result of Bush policies. If you want to call that “blaming” go right ahead, but it’s a fact. Your precious tax cuts and the idiotic Bush wars plus the Bush Depression are the causes of the deficit. Your choosing to ignore these facts does not make them non-facts. You want to blame all our economic woes on Obama? Go right ahead, but you’re factually WRONG.

          http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/05/obama-romney-deficit-debt-chart.php

          • Frank Kahn

You obviously had a problem with reading comprehension on my post. I said that it does not matter who caused the increase in the deficit it is bad no matter who caused it.

AND NO, THE ONLY RACISTS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED ARE THE PEOPLE LIKE YOU ON THIS SITE. AND, OF COURSE OBAMA HIS SELF.

You calling our dislike of the way he has failed to do anything good for our country racist does not make it racist.

I dont like his policies, I dont like his lies, I dont like his attitude and I dont like him jumping with the race card when it suites him. These are not racially motivated anymore than the fact that I hate the way that you never defend the issues, you just call people names like racist and worse.

Now my brother is a racist, he voted for Obama because he is black, nothing else just because he is black. Not only is he a racist, but he is a stupid racist, because he refuses to admit he was wrong to vote for a black man just because of his skin color.

And you are a racist because you play the race card when you cant think of an intelligent response to a comment.

          • Jeff

Of course it matters who or what caused the huge deficits. Romney is running as W on steroids. His 20% tax cut plan and his defense spending will balloon the deficit beyond recognition. As we know, deficits don’t matter when a Republican is president, so the even larger deficit will then get blamed on Hillary.

          • http://tlgeer.wordpress.com tlgeer

“His 20% tax cut plan and his defense spending will balloon the deficit beyond recognition.”

Also, it’s not just cutting funds, it’s cutting peoples jobs because of the cutting of funds. Unemployment will skyrocket if this happens.

          • Frank Kahn

Wrong again, quit changing the subject. THE SUBJECT IS OBAMA NOT BUSH AND NOT ROMNEY. I said that Obama has done nothing that has reduced the deficit in his 4 years. Is that too hard for you to understand. I did not say that Bush lowered the debt or the deficit. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO CAUSED THE DEBT. Obama did not reduce the debt. He has not had a budget yet (illegal) so I cant say that he didnt have a balanced budget. However, I can say that he is spending more than the government is getting in revenues (taxes). His stimulus spending has not helped improve the work force in any manner consistent with the amount spent.

Question, how many people can live on 1 billion dollars for 4 years? Take a wild stab at it, I will even allow you to use a middle class income as the basis for calculation. Lets say a household of 4 gets 100,000 a year, for 4 years that is 400,000 dollars. Now 1 billion dollars is 1,000,000,000 dollars. The trick to making math simple is removing the excess zeros so you remove 5 ze5ros from the billion making it 10,000, next you can either divide by 4 (or since we have 4 people just leave it at that). So we have 2,500 families of 4 people each living off 1 billion dollars, and living quite comfortably I might add.

So, take the total dollar amount that Obama spent on stimulus packages and see how many middle class families it should have created. That will give you the lowest acceptable number of high paying NEW jobs being created. See if the math works in your favor or mine.

When has any Republican president made government smaller? It’s not a question of size but of what it does. Republicans never complain about government growing to fight wars or build up the military or fight wars on drugs. But if the government proposes to spend money on the poor, the disabled, even veterans, suddenly the Republicans don the green eye shade and tell us we can’t afford it. Get over the idea that Romney will shrink government; he won’t.

What are you talking about? The Arab Spring represented a spontaneous uprising in Arab countries against their own dictators. It had nothing to do with us? Would you have had us send in troops to put down the demonstrators? Can a U.S. president, after the Iraq War to spark democracy in the Arab World, support the dictators against the clear will of the people? I think not.

Now, if you are smart, you will ask about the “uprising” in Iran. In my opinion, that was different and Obama correctly kept a low profile because doing otherwise would have provided the Mullahs an excuse to crack down. They’d claim the protesters were U.S. pawns and that we were directing the protests. We have to tread very carefully in a country like Iran because the one thing that can reunite the people and the regime is the appearance of imminent hostilities between us and Iran.

          • tony newbill

Obama hiding behind NATO enabled the Arab Spring , and all that other stuff you said is just that stuff

          • Jeff

Again, what are you talking about? How did Obama “enable” the Arab Spring by hiding behind NATO? Are you suggesting we shouldn’t have protected the people of Libya from being massacred by Kaddafi? I guess Kaddafi now looks like a good guy because Obama organized military action against him? Hiding behind NATO? It’s called an alliance. It gives a greater air of legitimacy than an action by the U.S. alone. U.S. troops can be toxic in that part of the world.

Obama wants the Muslim brotherhood to be the ruling power in the middle east and this will drive Oil prices so High the Oil market will have to be nationalized and freedom through our free market economic system will be destroyed , thats the dream of Obama and the Environmentalists and you support that ?

Why would he be choosing these radicals over the Saudi strong hold in the region who love a free market on their oil ? When you are environmentally hamstrung out like Obama is with appeasing his environmentally Marxist Bolsheviks voters who support him and we are talking very very rich elites that both domestic and Internationally have donated him to reach the Billion dollar mark NOW first ever record , over Romney , their wanting to do what ever possible to continue to take the USA away from Individual prosperity because that stands in the way of their environmentally strung out agenda to dominate for the sake of saving earth from Humanity , and they will even side with the enemy to achieve this directive and that will be the downfall of us all even them !!!!!

            You have quite an imagination.

          • tony newbill

Jeff Obama is following the lead of the Globalists who want to Walk world societies into a One Class One World Order , and they are Enabling an Enemy of the USA and that Enemy is the Muslim Brotherhood as their pawns , who he let into his Administration and they are who has been running the US foreign policy that enabled the ARAB Spring as Obama sat back , but now as with any Transition of Power within the ranks even radicals have Power struggles and thats what happened in Libya as the 4 Americans were caught in the Middle of a Power struggle between the Rouge factions fighting over who was going to get those weapons that Gaddafi had and I bet the Seals and some Libyan forces were sitting on a cache of these weapons were the fire fights took place because they were moving around in a area of building as the fire fight took place . But once those weapons were taken by the Rebel factions , its funny that Now this News comes out a couple weeks later, http://www.cnbc.com/id/49243050/Syria_accuses_U_S_France_of_arming_funding_terrorists , like the Obama administration is going to try and buy these weapons into the hands of al-Qaida rebels in Syria , thats why Obama is trying to cover this UP is My assessment !!!!

But the Bigger goal of all this Transition of Power over to a Rouge radical group in the Middle east is to force a rejection of the Dollar as the Petrol Dollar OPEC Uses to price their OIL and see by Obama doing these things this way he would be able to be out of the Loop on this destabilization and then can stand up after the OPEC Nations declare the Dollar rejected as their settlement currency , that will then lead the BRIC Nations to follow in the same manner , and then Obama would say see I told you the capital System Never has worked and never will work because it’s a System that does not redistribute Fairly and equally the resources or we would not have these conflicts between interests and nations , and at the same time he will then have the FREE markets in a state of collapse and then he can nationalize the System of FREE Enterprise and with it FREEDOM as a whole !!!!!
This is the Goal of the Liberal Environmentalist Marxist Bolsheviks plan to save Earth from their ideological perception of capitalism killing earth and they are willing to Empower any means to accomplish this Goal and we see the events going on in the world that will bring these means to and end and they all say the ends justify the means right ??? But what will happen is a total breakdown of global security in terms of supply consistencies and this will affect everyone even the Globalists .

          • Jeff

You’re simply regurgitating right wing nonsense, fear of the UN, all the isolationist Republican b.s. going back before WWII. I know you’re not much into introspection as you see so much evil in everyone outside your own little neighborhood, but have you ever thought about why Romney won’t release more tax returns? If you believe the nonsense answers he’s given, then you probably believed 911 happened “because they hate our freedom.”

Perhaps Romney did not want voters to know the extent to which he and his wife profited from the auto bailout he so cautioned against. Their “blind” trusts were heavily invested, through Romney’s top bundler in Delphi Auto Parts. That company would have gone broke without the bailout, was rejuvenated by the loans, then Romney and his partner essentially blackmailed the auto companies to give them a chunk of the bailout money or they’d shut down production entirely. It’s a little hard to manufacture cars without steering wheels. In addition, much of Delphi’s production was outsourced (read: “Romneyed”) while the profits were diverted to another tax haven, the Isle of Jersey off the coast of France. Read this article if you dare.

Jeff Isolationalist is not the issue its about our currency being devalued over a lack of ensuring our supplies and resources and currency are correctly being represented in the WTO and that the UN is backing our assets in this manner and they are not , we are losing our right to enforce trade rules that correctly value what our domestic costs would be to produce our supplies and that be the same value placed on Imports to uphold the TRUE 15 Trillion dollar GDP we have and this balance trade . We are Not going to solve the debt issue until these monetary issues are met . The Need for tariff Trade to be used as a nogociating tool needs to be brought back to the same trade Policies as Reagan had Under GATT !!!!

JEFF Wake UP and save or Sovereignty or prepare to become a SERF to a Group of Globalists who will make sure you live according to their Ideology … and given how the Talk about to many people on earth these days I would rather Isolate than become their SLAVE !!!!!

          • Jeff

If you don’t believe in “free trade” how can you vote for Romney who practically invented outsourcing? I believe in some measure of protecting domestic businesses. You can be sure such a concept has never occurred to Romney. Obama has successfully prosecuted cases in the international trade dispute tribunal. Romney says he’ll “get tough” on China while he’s fully invested (literally) in outsourcing factory jobs to China.

As for the article, it is factual. Greg Palast started as an accountant and fraud investigator. He’s an American working as an investigative journalist in Britain. I know you only pay attention to Fox and far right sites where nary a fact can be found, but there are such things as facts, regardless of your political persuasion.

JEFF Obama is a Liar we all know this , so what makes you think he will actually retool manufacturing in states like Ohio when he said this crap in 2008 to kick Hillary out of his way and then once he did this he let the issue go abandon ???

          • Jeff

For a laissez-faire kind of guy, you expect a lot from Obama. He’s supposed to retool Ohio himself? If he did anything like that, you’d accuse him of nationalizing industries. Ohio is doing better than the nation as a whole because of the loans he extended to GM and Chrysler. What more would you have him do as President?

          • tony newbill

Jeff Obama is telling Ohio he will fix their manufacturing problems and bring back their jobs well why didn’t he do this before now ??? And he called Romney a BSer man thats hypocrisy at its finest

          • tony newbill

So Jeff what this story on Romney making money off of Obamas Bailouts that he claims as his success and saved the USA from a 2nd Great Depression jjst proves that Obamas Policies were a Mistake , he actually automatically restored the value in Romneys portfolios as he did with many that had devalued in the 2008-9 collapse .

So how does this make Romney the Evil Conspirator Vulture capitalist you and Obama are claiming him to be ? It looks to me Romney would have been the better one with the plan of a strategic bankruptcy then all this Fake printing press money would not have handled this process this way . It looks Like Obama just used this way of bailout out things to then Allow for this Image that this Video displays to be used as a weapon against the Conservative party that would run against him now because Everyone that would be running against him could be categorized into this Evil capital system Obama so hates and wants to end because it doesn’t give he and his Environmentalist Marxist Bolsheviks the control they want to save earth from Overpopulation in the world .

          • Jeff

There are moments when something resembling an idea appears in your posts. And then you say something like:

“It looks Like Obama just used this way of bailout out things to then Allow for this Image that this Video displays to be used as a weapon against the Conservative party that would run against him now because Everyone that would be running against him could be categorized into this Evil capital system Obama so hates and wants to end because it doesn’t give he and his Environmentalist Marxist Bolsheviks the control they want to save earth from Overpopulation in the world.”

Absolutely insane drivel. Was Bush also a Marxist because the Government stepped in and rescued the Banks? FDR saved capitalism from the capitalists in the 30s and it can be argued Obama has done the same now. He’s brought the economy from the brink of collapse to growth. All the jobs Romney is promising in the next 4 years? Most economists predict the same number regardless who’s president. Presidents have limited power to affect the economy unless they’re “geniuses” like W. Obama utilized stimulus to prevent a depression just as other presidents have similarly stimulated the economy. Here’s what Paul (Ayn Rand) Ryan had to say about stimulus spending in 2002:

            http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/19/paul-ryan-bush-stimulus_n_1803761.html

The difference then vs. now? Just the party of the president who’d get “credit” for a strengthened economy.

          • tony newbill

Obama just Printed a Bunch of Fake money to bailout his friends and to use to appease those who supported him and tried to bait the financial industry into a I give you bailout cash in exchange for more Power over your business affairs and most didn’t bite that had nothing backing it up like Supply production and expansion ,
Obama has just Been Running everything on bailout cash Heck Jeff anyone could have done this , so where did he Really accomplish anything like Empowering true Economic genius like Right off the bat taking 2 trillion of that stimulus money and together with a new Monetary Policy that would form private capital around this 2 trillion then be established in a fund like a ETF that would Pool financing together for the best rated Dunn and Bradstreet Small and Large businesses to Retool the Most Important manufacturing sectors we need to be Independent from a Dollar rejection from foreign suppliers that could cut these parts supplies off if they reject the dollar as their trade currency ??? This would have restored the negotiations of trade with the power of Manufacturing independence , BUT OBAMA BECAME A INTERNATIONAL STAR AND FORGOT ABOUT PLACES LIKE OHIO UNTIL NOW !!!!!! Obama is a Ideologue and this guys gotta be voted out of office along with all his Ideological CZARS and other Minions that are to dang globalist for their own good !!!!

      • Jeff

        Frank:

Excuse me. Could you kindly point out a fact stated in this post:

The bottom line is getting rid of obummer, the very first and imperative step. You libertarians are wasting your vote and helping obummer who will ruin our country permanently. Is this good citizenship? Your guy lost and now you need to pick your battle which should be sending obummer back into oblivion. obummer has total disdain for our country and countrymen plus a socialist agenda. Anyone voting for him will not only get a lot more than they bargained for but they’ll have to explain to their children and grandchildren how they helped destroy a free republic based on personal work ethics and self-responsibility, thus making them slaves to the state.

First, he’s using a tired insult used by every right-winger on these blogs. His use of it tells me (1) he’s rude (2) he has nothing of substance to say and (3) he hasn’t even got the imagination to make up his own insult. Then, Obama is going to ruin the country permanently. What does that even mean? Hyperbole perhaps? I prefer to say “utter crappola.” Then the whole “socialist” nonsense. Where is the socialism? I’m sure you know that socialism is not the same as advocating a progressive income tax system like we’ve had for nearly a century.

So, why is it so wrong for me to point out that the post was entirely fact-free? Because you happen to agree with the author’s biases? Maybe if Romney wins he’ll appoint you to rule on the merits of blog posts.

        • Frank Kahn

I hope you will understand that you used an insult on me in that post which was neither correct nor necessary.

I also hope that you will reconsider your use of personal attacks and / or derogatory statements to describe another persons opinion.

I will agree that the statement about permanently ruining our country is bordering on hyperbole. Exaggerating a situation to get someones attention is not necessarily bad nor is it uncommon. Even though it ultimately hurts the effort to persuade someone to see the problem, it might get them to look and see if there is some merit to the premise. But, having said that I agree it was hyperbole, I do not think it rises to the level of stupidity that you implied in your post just now.

I happen to agree with him insomuch as he says Obama is hurting our economy. I base my opinion on facts and somewhat more than a little understanding of economic theory.

And, I know what socialism is. I even know that there are several types of socialism. I know that a progressive tax rate is not socialism. I know why it is a good way to handle taxation, giving a higher percentage burden on those more equipped to handle it. I can explain some of the things that have been done that are socialistic in nature. I can even give a fairly good run at showing how Unions are a form of socialism. I did not see where in the post the other person was equating the tax system with socialism, so I dont know why you asked that series of questions.

This brings me into my defense against your insult. First I am not sure exactly what you thought you were proposing as my reward for supporting Romney, it really made no sense. It was, however, an insult for which you had no supporting evidence. I do not now, nor have I ever said that I support Romney in this race for president. If you check my recent postings you will actually find that I supported the idea of voting 3rd party.

I did not so much post to defend the other person as I posted to inform you that you are guilty of much of what you accused him of. If you want to disagree with my opinion that is okay and even good for a discussion. I am willing to help you see the reasoning behind my opinion if it is handled without name calling and insults.

      • DaveH

#2 of the ten planks of the Communist Manifesto:
“A heavy progressive or graduated income tax”.

The Income Tax allows Government to snoop into its citizens’ life choices where it has no business.
The Income Tax allows Government to extract unequal amounts of money for its services solely because some people are better producers than others.
The Income Tax allows Government to play the Class Envy card, thus buying votes and getting much more money to waste than would have been possible under an equal tax system.
The Income Tax allows Government to give special protections to their Crony Capitalists.
The Income Tax allows Government to coerce people to live in a style Government chooses.

Is it any wonder that the 16th Amendment was part of the 3-pronged Progressive plan in 1913 (The Federal Reserve Act and the 17th Amendment being the other two) to allow Government to grow wildly out of any previous constraints?

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “You’re simply regurgitating right wing nonsense, fear of the UN, all the isolationist Republican b.s. going back before WWII”.
Central Governments (including our own) have proven throughout history to strive for increasing control. It’s what Leaders do. Just as everybody would like to make more money, Leaders like to gain more Power and Money. It is just plain naive to assume the UN won’t do the same, and they are not elected by the people. Remember the people — Those who the Liberals argue needed to vote Senators in office (17th Amendment), even though our founders wisely designed it otherwise so that the Power in the Congress was split between a body elected by the people (the House) and a body elected by the States (the Senate)?
It seems that Liberal Progressives will take whichever side of the arguments benefit them most at the time — Damn any Principles.
And not wanting to put our lives in the hands of controlling Leaders has nothing at all to do with “isolationism” except in the twisted minds of Liberal Progressives.

Ten reasons why the US should get out of the UN:
        http://frontpagemag.com/upload/pamphlets/UN.pdf

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “I believe in some measure of protecting domestic businesses”.
        Who protects the consumers?
I thought Liberal Progressives championed the little people? Oh sorry, I forgot — That’s only when they want to buy their votes.

tlgeer says show some proof…”Obama wants the Muslim brotherhood to be the ruling power in the middle east…”

        Where to start?
The Muslim Brotherhood in the Obama Administration
        http://frontpagemag.com/2012/frank-gaffney/the-muslim-brotherhood-in-the-obama-administration/

The Obama administration chose the eve of the holiday marking our Nation’s birth to acknowledge publicly behavior in which it has long been stealthily engaged to the United States’ extreme detriment: Its officials now admit that they are embracing the Muslim Brotherhood (MB or Ikhwan in Arabic). That would be the same international Islamist organization that has the destruction of the United States, Israel and all other parts of the Free World as its explicit objective.

Instead of relying upon – let alone hiring – Muslim Brotherhood operatives and associates, the United States government should be shutting down their fronts, shariah-adherent, jihad-incubating “community centers” and insidious influence operations in America. By recognizing these enterprises for what they are, namely vehicles for fulfilling the seditious goals of the MB’s civilization jihad, they can and must be treated as prosecutable subversive enterprises, not protected religious ones under the U.S. Constitution.

Fact: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Huma Abedin has family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Huma Abedin is not only related to people connected to the Muslim Brotherhood and its galaxy of front groups but before
becoming Hillary Clinton’s deputy, she was her-self directly associated with a Brotherhood organization, the Institute for Muslim Minority Affairs, an organization founded and funded by Abdullah Omar Naseef, a major Muslim Brotherhood figure
also involved in the financing of al Qaeda

An internal Muslim Brotherhood document by a top Muslim Brotherhood operative, Mohamed Akram, was seized by the FBI in
Virginia in 2004 that spells out the Muslim Brotherhoods agenda to take down the USA and destroy Western civilization from within.

This document listed 29 likeminded “organizations of our friends” that shared the goal of making the U.S. friendly to the Brotherhood’s Islamist objectives by “presenting Islam as a civi-lization alternative.” Among these organizations doing the Muslim Brotherhood’s work today are the Muslim Students Association and the Islamic Society of North America.

Rashad Hussain-In January 2009, Hussain was named Deputy
Associate White House Counsel. Among his gov-ernment responsibilities in that capacity were na-tional security and new media issues. More spe-cifically he has been charged with “helping inform the administration’s Muslim outreach efforts,” and consulting on the drafting of President Obama’s
first address to the “Muslim World” delivered in June 2009 at Cairo University in Egypt.

On Febru-ary 20, 2010, the President announced that Hussain
would serve as his “special envoy” to the Organi-zation of Islamic Cooperation Rashad Hussain has been described by Presi-dent Obama as “a respected member of the Ameri-can Muslim community” because he is a “hafiz of the Qur’an.”

Hussain has long been involved with various Muslim Brotherhood front organizations including Abdurahman Alamoudi’s American Muslim Council and The International Institute of Islamic Thought (or IIIT) to which jihadists like Sami al-Arian (who pled guilty in 2006 to organizing secret financial contributions to the Palestine Islamic Ji-had, a terrorist group) and Jamal Barzinji, a found-ing father of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood, also have ties. Hussain was also involved in the origi-nal Brotherhood front in America, the Muslim Students Association. Hussain has also been among those in the Obama administration encouraging efforts to “bridge the differences” between the U.S. Consti-tution’s guarantee of freedom of expression and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s efforts to prohibit and criminalize worldwide expression that “defames” Islam.

Suhail Khan, another figure with Brotherhood ties has also served in federal government (at the Department of Transportation.)

Dalia Mogahed – Another individual who has become influential
in the Obama administration on issues involving Islam and Sharia is Dalia Mogahed who was appointed in April 2009 to the White House Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Dalia Mogahed also gave evidence of her sym-pathy with Brotherhood rhetoric and objectives by
appearing in May 2009 before the 34th annual con-ference of the Islamic Council of North America (ICNA), a group that has long promoted jihad and Sharia and was listed in the materials captured by the FBI as part of the Brotherhood’s organization. The event was cosponsored by the Muslim Ameri-can Society (MAS), which was founded to serve as the Muslim Brotherhood’s formal American franchise.

Mogahed is also a member of the Department of Homeland Security Working Group on Counter-ing Violent Extremism. That group was respon-sible for recommending guidelines for training and trainers on “violent extremism” that effectively
required both to be approved by “community lead-ers” who are, in many cases, associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Dalia Mogahed may be the most influential person guiding the
Obama Administration’s Middle East outreach….Mogahed alone has regular access to the White House, through its Senior Director for Global Engagement, Pradeep Ramamurthy, and through Joshua DuBois at the Office of Faith Based and
        Neighborhood Partnerships.

Mohamed Magid (also known as Mohamed Hagmagid, Mohamed Hagmagid Ali and Mohamed Hagmagid Musa Ali), was born and raised in Sudan and immigrated to the United States in 1987.
The November 14, 2005 edition, Time Mag-azine published an extremely flattering profile of Magid promoting his “moderation.” He has adroitly used this image to gain access to the Obama administration by developing relationships with the Deputy National Security Advisor,
the Attor-ney General and several of his subordinates, the
Secretaries of the Treasury, State and Homeland Security, various officials in the Defense Department, and President Obama himself.

I would glady support Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman, or Gary Johnson, if ANY of these libertarians had a shot at winning the presidential seat, but they don’t. A vote for Ron Paul or Gary Johnson at this stage in the election bid is simply a vote that supports Obama, and he’s about the furthest thing from the positions of the aforementioned men. There’s really only 2 men running now, no matter who else might be on the ballot.

They don’t, Linda, because too many people like yourself throw in the towel before the contest even begins.

I watched Bevis and Butthead instead of the debates…I figured, what’s the difference?

I voted this Morning and this is how I summed it up ……. Voting Against President Obama…… IS ABOUT STOPPING THIS EGREGIOUS ERRONEOUS IDEOLOGICAL BUREAUCRACY THAT IS RUNNING OVER THE UNITED STATES PEOPLE’S RIGHTS, THEIR LIBERTIES AND THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE A JUST GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE , and has no regard as to how they are Spending the Peoples MONEY !!!! This Administration has made it CLEAR they DO NOT ANSWER TO WE THE PEOPLE , and therefore we need to REPLACE and RESTORE our REPRESENTATION THAT DOES THIS !!!!!

    • Paul b

Voting FOR Mitt Romney drives the final nail into the coffin of the REAL Conservative Party! Romney is not Obama, of course, but he is also NOT a conservative – severe or otherwise! He will destroy the Ron Paul movement! This is urgent!!!

      • Jim Crawford

Paul, Your hero, Ron Paul doesn’t have a movement in the election. Be a realist, the thing that will kill all future movements to enhance our country’s original doctrines is letting obummer ride rough-shod over us for four more years. For crying out loud, get it through your heads, there’s nobody to beat obummer but Romney. It is what it is. Vote for Romney or stay home.

      • godhelpus

Ron Paul is hurting the presidency instead of helping it. He is taking away important votes from Romney. This is why the presidents loves to have a 3rd person in there so that the person running against him has votes taken from him from someone that has no chance in hell of winning. Obama has done nothing for us and I can’t believe peole still believe in him!!

      • Paul b

Jim, if you are a true conservative, this is NOT about the next four years. This is about the LONG game: If Romney wins, the TEA Party is done, the Libertarian Party is done, and the “good old boy” Republican Establishment Elite is alive and well – forever! Wake Up, True Conservatives!!

      • Larry is King

Paul a vote for Ron Paul is a Vote for Obama. Ron Paul is just a weak candidate and that is fact. As far as real conservatives retaking the Republican party are you thinking of the traditional country club good O boys that have run the party since Lincoln.Even Conservatives can’t seem to agree what a true conservative is, this site along disagrees with other conservatives and others disagree with Livingstones views. So what does that tell you?

      • eddie47d

I would say Godhelpus is taking important votes away from Ron Paul. So many of you have capitulated to the crony capitalists of both parties and don’t want America to truly change. I see few true Conservatives on this site but that makes it so darn easy to pick on the hypocrites and phonies.

      • DaveH

Jim says — “Vote for Romney or stay home”.
You stay home, Jim. Some of us are smart enough to know that you can never reach a destination North of you by traveling West.
Some of us are smart enough to know that voting for the Lesser of Two Evils is STILL just Evil.
Some of us are smart enough to know that Freedom doesn’t come easily, and it will NEVER come unless we start voting for it.

    • Doc Sarvis

      Tony N.
I early voted also. My vote was against Romeny who would favor an EGREGIOUS ERRONEOUS IDEOLOGICAL BUREAUCRACY THAT WOULD RUN OVER THE UNITED STATES PEOPLE’S RIGHTS, THEIR LIBERTIES AND THEIR RIGHT TO HAVE A JUST GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE.

You call it “just”. I call it what it is — Theft.

        • Jeff

When, exactly, during the 19th Century do you believe American Civilization reached its apex? I know you hate everything the government has done since 1900 including food safety laws. After all, shouldn’t I, as a merchant, have the right to sell tainted food to a willing buyer? After all, if enough of my customers die of food poisoning, people might stop doing business with me. Unless, of course, I have a big enough advertising budget.

Go peddle the Ayn Rand bologna someplace else.

        • tony newbill

Yeah Dave is right , plus redistribution of an existing supply is a recipe for supply shortages , and considering the way the Environmentalists control the Democratic party and Obama and HATE supply-side growth and would rather run all of us out of supply so the Free Market collapses upon itself and ends the capital system , ( THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING ) once this happens and they gain control over the market system through nationalization LOOK OUT , what has happened in the past Historical periods of Great Conflicts When supply is ran down to famine levels . THINK about it … with all this ANTI growth stuff going on while Population in the world is still growing ??? These people are wanting to stall growth for a reason !!!!!!Get them out of the Power Positions before its to late to alter the path we are on !!!!

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “When, exactly, during the 19th Century do you believe American Civilization reached its apex? I think I heard the bell, Jeff. You’d best get lined up for your turn at the trough.

        • Jeff

So you and your Austrian masters equate all regulation of business, no matter how reasonable, with socialism? Labor unions are the same as the gulag? Environmental regulations might as well be nationalization of industry?

      • DaveH

Those who would like to be more aware, less ignorant, than Jeff should read this book and see what that Government “Protection” is really all about:

Jeff and his fellow elitists think that you couldn’t possibly make your own decisions, so they pretend they know what’s best for you, even if they are too ignorant to know that regulations are mostly about Crony Capitalists stifling their competitors in the marketplace.

  • Jd

    Hey Folks,

This election is a no brainier. I can’t believe any of you are in doubt about Romney/Ryan. Look back for the last four years, and you give me one single thing that our current President has done for all of us. This country is as bad as it can get. You have not given Romney a chance; you are already casting doubt. I bet you one thing it will be much better than it is right now. However, if you are expecting miracles over night, you can forget it . It will take him 4 years to get us back to where we currently were before this administration started! O has gotten us so derp in debt, on purpose I must say, that it will take a long tine to dig out of this hole. I bet you see some difference right away if R&R get it. I am totally embarrased that a Predident of the United States who gets up and says his opponent is a bulls—– has zero class and has nothing better to campaign on than attacking his opponent. Please give me a break , or you the ones that put this joker in there to begin with? Hello! Hello!

    • eddie47d

Although there are stark differences between Bush and Romney in some respects he is far worse. Remember how everyone said Bush was a businessman and would be good for the country? Now they are saying the same about Romney when he earned every dollar in a deceitful and dubious manner. He had no moral backbone in how he looted failing companies and made millions in doing so. He is an opportunist who is out for himself first and country second.

      • Jeff

Exactly. Romney is no Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. Like Gordon Gekko, he creates nothing; he owns everything. His specialty is not in creating businesses; it’s in killing businesses in trouble and feasting on the carcasses. What amazes me is the attitude of the “Christians.” Isn’t Romney the ultimate money changer?

        http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/on-mitt-romney-bain-capital-and-private-equity-20120829

        • tony newbill

Jeff you would have voted for that waste of Oxygen John Kerry and all he ever did was Marry Big Money so that nullifies everything you just wrote here !!!!

          • Jeff

Your post is utter nonsense. The amount of money one has is not the issue. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are/were far wealthier than Romney, but they actually created products and businesses that employed people. It’s not relevant that someone marries money unless he pursues policies designed to favor the wealthiest among us.

Romney is a vulture capitalist. Read this article if you are able.

            http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/on-mitt-romney-bain-capital-and-private-equity-20120829

No Jeff you are relating the wealthy as the job creators and that Romney is not as prolific as the Gates and Buffets and Jobs of the world , but you did not allow to debate where Obama fits into this failed attempt to Spin the vote for the Losing candidate whose only been to date a dictator isolated in our Policy making House of Commons called the Peoples House Which we have Not been allowed to operate since the day Obama moved in and Started operating the Enterprise without a Budget and only off the backs of the American people with debt funding his ideological friends without we the peoples representation !!!! ….. “Romney is no Steve Jobs or Bill Gates. ”

While that MIGHT be true it is absolutely true obama doesn’t know as much as a small business owner who is an abject failure and has never made a profit but rather has always lost his shirt.

        • tony newbill

Romney wants to use the element of Supply and Abundance as a Platform to build Peace around the world Again Like JFK did .

Obama is really good at figuring out how to get something from producers for nothing or very little , hence the Grant Foundation , non profit world of finance . His record shows this is where he has spent most of his time making his living . So considering he is conflicted by most of these kinds of institutions policies of ANTI growth initiatives he cannot be a Creator of supply-side economics because his philosophy is skewed .

He has No BUSINESS being a Majority interest policy maker because of this limited economic philosophy , let alone this being a major conflict on world economics being the Platform for Supply-side Abundance being the Path towards Peace Like his Predecessors like Kennedy have used in their peace policy before him .

    • http://yahoo bobdavidson

Agreed, B.O. is out to ruin this country. To vote for the Kenyan and the Hyena is just plain stupid.

  • Linda Willis

If I have learned anything about politics, it is that presidential candidates will say whatever they have to in order to get themselves elected. After that, it’s a whole new ballgame. Anyone remember the saying “A chicken in every pot?” Romney will currently take any position he needs to in order to make it into the presidential seat. But you can’t bank on what Obama says he is going to do, either~~he made lots of promises in 2008 and did barely anything of what he said he would. Worse, I was actually fooled into believing that he was a moderate.

Without a viable libertarian candidate on the ballot, our choices this year are “Bad” and “Worse,” but I agree with the above article, I will hold my nose and vote for “Bad” since I don’t want “Worse” back in the White House. I don’t agree with several of Romney’s stances, but at least a vote for him gives us a slight shot at improving our economy~~I don’t see anything but bigger government, bigger costs, and fewer personal freedoms for everyone looming in Obama’s second term. I might not be sure of what Romney will bring, but I definitely know I don’t want more of what Obama has brought us! A vote now for Ron Paul or another obscure candidate is simply a vote that will put “Worse” back in the presidential seat, and I don’t want to see America lose any more of what makes us such a wonderful country.

    • Paul b

A vote for Romney kills the REAL Conservative movement. This isn’t about HATING Obama (for racial, incompetence, anti-American, WHATEVER reasons). It’s about the “establishment” Republican Party. THEY pushed Romney from the beginning and caused the elimination of “real” conservative candidates. For the ultimate health of the conservative mov’t, we need to make sure Ronmey is defeated and them work like HE11 to promote folks like Rand Paul. Take a listen: what donwe hear from both Paul’s concerning Romney?

    • DaveH

Actually, Linda, in many states voting for Gary Johnson will hurt Obama more than Romney.
But in any case, why rubber-stamp the Crony Politician from either party? Do you really think that either the Democrats or the Republicans will ever give you a candidate who doesn’t want Bigger Government?
It just amazes me how easy it is for the Leaders to steer so many good people around by the noses.
      moooo.

    • Chester

Linda, a president has to have help, and lots of it, from Congress before he can do anything other than issue a few executive orders. Before you go off and tell me the Democrats HAD control of congress for Obama’s first two years, I will remind you that they only had enough votes to force anything through the Senate for about three months. It takes sixty votes to guarantee you can get anything done in the Senate, and for most of the first two years they only had fifty-nine. It was during that short period when they had sixty votes that Obamacare got passed, and one or two other things. The rest of the time, if it didn’t suit the Republicans, it died. The second two years, the Tea Party was in full cry in the House, and their stated objective was to be sure Obama did NOT get a second term, so very little has been accomplished. Oh, and that is also the reason we are looking at this huge fiscal calamity come January, unless a lame duck congress can get their act together and do something they have failed to do since day one, agree on some serious budget reductions and/or income increases for the federal government. The main thing they are obligated to do is reduce the deficit, which is rather difficult to do when you are still pulling out of a recession.

  • chris

Personal Liberty does not have to convince me to vote for Romney . I’m from California and I voted early and by the way a independent . I voted for Romney and against Obama .

This Presidents Foreign Policy is all about appeasing the Muslim Brotherhood and selling our Nations Soul to that Cause and its time for Change !!!!!
Its TIME to expose this Lack of leadership for what it is … The attempt to assimilation the Western Nations into of what is perceived as a Society of Radical Islamists who this President and his party is afraid of and rather than stand for Individual Liberty rights they think it would be better to just submit to the Threat of War with these Ideologues and call it a Peace policy !!!!
Look at the Pattern this president is creating , every time Obama makes a Gain in the War of respect between these Radicals and the USA effort to secure stability , then they turn the other way and some Atrocity ( like the seals that got wasted after the Bin Ladin raid, or this time when these seals were chasing down the weapons that Qaddafi had that were Loose that these radicals wanted , thats what this is all about the proof is out there ) that appeases the radicals desires to draw Blood like pawns in the chest game of Liberty versus Domination is traded back and forth , and enough is enough of this appeasement parade of Foreign Policy !!!!!!

When Chip says, “And that’s why this year, I’m going to hold my nose and vote for Romney,” he’s basically holding his nose to ward off the stench of the dying Conservative mov’t. Too bad Chip doesn’t realize that….

    • DaveH

We are all going to be dying (economically) because too many people have rationalized the theft of other peoples’ money and Freedom. There is enough wealth still in this country for Socialism to last even the youngest citizens’ lifetimes. But make no mistake, Socialism will fail when they run out of other peoples’ money.

Chip says — “I’m going to hold my nose and vote for Romney”.
DaveH says — “I lost my sense of smell 10 years ago, and still I can’t hold my nose tight enough to vote for Romney”.
Take the ring out from your noses, People. Quit letting the puppet-masters steer your choices.
Vote Gary Johnson. If you think he will take votes from Romney, then make sure you put some Conservatives or Libertarians in Congress to stop him.

      To stop Obama, that is.

      • Jeff

Why don’t you run for office? Who could vote against a misanthropic, right-wing, Austrian-quoting man who has all the answers in one handy book?

      • DaveH

        Misanthropic? Hatred for fellow humans?
Who votes to steal other peoples’ money, Jeff?
Who votes to build Freedom-Robbing Big Government, Jeff?
Sorry Jeff, but it is you who is the Misanthrope.
        Right-Wing?
Hardly. I vote for Freedom. I vote for People to Control their own bodies and property, protected from meddlers like yourself, Jeff, who think they know what’s best for everybody else.

So you’ve scored 33%. Not bad for a Liberal Progressive.

  • Paul b

When Chip writes, “And that’s why this year, I’m going to hold my nose and vote for Romney,” he’s really holding his nose to wads off the stench of a dying Conservative mov’t. Too bad Chip doesn’t know that….

  • Schnable

All any of us needs to know is, if we reelect Obama we will become a lesser nation conrolled by the UN and governed by socialists who have no regard for our constitutional government. Personally, I am opposed to putting the government first and losing all indivigual freedoms.

    • Paul b

Put the Republican Establishment Elitists in charge (that is, give them Romney, the candidate they SHOVED down the throats of true conservatives) and the REAL conservatives are DONE. The US can survive 4 years while re-building happens. Strong 2016 bench: Rand Paul, Chris Christie, and Mike Huckabee, join Perry, Bachmann, Santorum, etc. THEY won’t be able to challenge a victorious Romney!

  • Marc

Willard Mitt, the coward, Romney supported the Vietnam War, but didn’t have the backbone or the guts to serve his country during the Vietnam War. You can be sure of one thing his 5 sons are no different than their father. Willard Romney doesn’t deserve the title of Commander In Chief of America much less the President of United States!

    • Jeff

I’ve been saying the same thing on these blogs for months. What college student in the 60s was FOR the war? How big of an A*hole does one have to be? Then, to top it off, while running for President, he claims he wishes he had gone. The guy is the most dishonest politician I’ve ever seen. Even Nixon couldn’t lie like this guy.

      • Buster the Anatolian

Obama has not served one minute in the armed forces either and there was nothing preventing him from voluntering to serve.

        • Jeff

That’s true, but he was under no obligation to serve either. And he turned 18 in 1979. Carter was president. We were at peace. When Romney turned 18 in 1965, we were involved in a war he strongly supported and there was a draft. He avoided the draft using his money and his religion. My problem with Romney is not that he avoided the draft; it’s the hypocrisy of supporting a war you know you’ll be able to avoid (and then claiming, years later, that you wish you had fought in the war).

          • tony newbill

Jeff why don’t you move out of your moms house and leave that faded Poster of the Obama 2008 campaign in the trash when you move and get right with God and start contributing to the society by saying ‘ YES I CAN ” Rather than ” YES WE CAN ” and stop supporting a taker that wants to just take something from the producers , OK ?

          • Jeff

Because it might entail contact with the likes of you. Believe it or not, many successful people do not support a selfish agenda. I’ve been relatively well off and relatively broke and it has never influenced my politics one bit.

          • tony newbill

Jeff the problem with your idea of social justice and letting the government ake from the producers and give to the non producers is you give them the power to control the resources and dictate the wealth and independence that creates with no regard as to if supply is keeping up with demand , and then politics enters into this process and thats what leads to political caused famines and other circumstances that end in atrocities like the one we are seeing play out in Libya . Think about it heres a Politician and so called commander in chief trying to Keep his Image Clean looking and at the same time appeasing the Rouge elements of this Administrations political agenda and caught in the middle of this as always are the helpless who are just Pawns in their chest game of ideological peril because they think they are the only ones smart enough to know what needs to be done and thats where the Problems start and end always with most of the time Supply interruptions and then Chaos and conflict over whats available . We don’t have time for these GAMES we need to go to work and innovate and expand supply , and the Environmentalists who Obama subscribes too are ANTI Growth and expansion and they need to get out of the way before they cause major conflicts in the world and here in the USA !!!!!

      • DaveH

Jeff says — “Believe it or not, many successful people do not support a selfish agenda”.
Selfish? This said while Jeff greedily eyes other peoples’ wallets. What a hypocrite.

      • eddie47d

Any proof to that charge Dave H. (about Jeff)?

      • http://none Claire

Romney didn’t serve in the military either. Personally, I believe that if anyone runs for POTUS, they should have served in the military. Then perhaps they wouldn’t be so damn quick to jump into a war.

        • Jeff

That is certainly one consideration, but Clinton famously did not serve and committed no troops anywhere. His only military adventure was the rescue of Bosnia involving no ground troops. Similarly, Obama did not serve and has resisted getting involved in new military adventures other than Libya, also involving no ground troops. This is in stark contrast to the mighty adventures of W and Cheney. Cheney and Romney, neither of whom served, have never met a war they didn’t automatically support. Both are guided by the same neocons. Who do you think is more likely to engage in military adventurism?

      • http://none Claire

It appears to me that Republicans will engage in a war quicker than a Democrat. That being said, I think we should keep our noses out of foreign countries that continously harbor war amongst themselves. Let them kill each other off. Who cares? I don’t. These countries will never stop waging war, if we enter a foreign country with the idea of helping them, the minute we leave they revert to their old ways and habits. Forget it. To me, America comes first and foremost. We should take care of our own, our country, and stop the needless interfering. We should maintain preparedness—have a mighty military and be self-sufficient. We should have the abilty to take care of ourselves if something should happen. This sounds hard-nose, but this is the way it should be.

With the one way routing of our consumer dollars being shuffled out of the country with this Unfair failure of a free trade System and with the Loss of the credit we were subsiding our economic value with now we are fast devaluing down to the 3rd worlds value where credit less competition exists . Hang on the ride is about to get really rough .

Don’t bother with telling me “what about the women and children?” Do any of you think for one moment some of these countries would care about American women and children if they chose to attack us? Hell no. It is a matter of survival and by gosh I want to live.

        • Jeff

I don’t know what your post has to do with me, but I’ll respond. No other country has attacked us. We were attacked by Al Qaeda. If we respond by indiscriminately bombing Middle Eastern countries, all we will succeed in doing is creating more terrorists.

      • DaveH

        tony,
We don’t have a Free Trade system. Free Trade isn’t administered by Government Panels. What we have is a Mercantilist System called Free Trade to confuse people who don’t know any better:
        http://mises.org/daily/1780/

        • tony newbill

I agree and DAVE H they will not let the Interest rates self regulate the use in what Resources need expansion and the volume of credit needed to expand this production so we maintian a stable cost of living with supply needs and that has ran created a imbalance in our debt issuance and their ability to convert those debt positions to equity supply assets , so the Unsustainable debt was rolled over to the Government with the to big to fail . If we were allowed to factor into GDP and CPI data our accounting of ALL SUPPLY we would have seen Capital investments in the Private sector chase after the sectors that Inflation have been showing demand out pacing supply , but they Skewed these Numbers with the Fiat system that started in 1972 with the delinking of the dollar which was spurred on with the release of the NSSM200 study !!!!! And they are Now Trying to Implement that Blue Prints Finale

Romney by his own admission is not up on foreign policy. He believes in “Might makes right” and has a ring in his nose put there by the Zionist. Obama’s not even an American.
His view of America is the as the same a Communist would have. America’s nothing but a state in a one world government. Both of them want the wealth of America to carry out “their” plans, not serve the American people. Can they use “I don’t remember” if they’re asked about what the Consitution has to say, like politicians use when they’re on the wittness stand? As a God fearing American I’ve been wondering what God would do when America finally threw Him out. Is this storm another eye opener or is it the Zionists eminent invasion of Iran it, or maybe both and then some?

    • Walter & Renee Agard

The great GOD said,”DON’T bost don’t brag.what you have he give it to us,and he will take it back,if we don’t abide with his statures.

      • tony newbill

Thats the best statement to start the day with !!!! Thank you .

    • Jeff

You’re the only one? Really? And which zionist is controlling all these people? I know you’re not too well educated because you misuse words. The attack would be “imminent,” not eminent. What is your position on Iran getting a nuclear weapon? Are you fer it or agin’ it? And if you don’t want to see Iran develop this technology, what should we, in conjunction with Israel, do to stop it? These are the issues – not some nonsense about Zionists controlling the world. People who talk that way tend to be morons.

  • libertarian58

If you punch someone, and he punches you back, is the fight HIS fault? Our foreign policy says it is. The middle east has become a Frankenstein’s monster that the US has been creating since the end of WWII. If you sow the wind you reap the whirlwind. Our founders said “avoid foreign entanglements”, we ignored their advice and here we are.

Paul b. Are you for real?! vote against Romney to try making a point?! You’re not only talking foolishly, you are an enemy and traitor to our country to even consider helping this socialist, egotistical Muslim-loving, would-be king get another four years. Talk about the final nail in the coffin, you need a dose of reality, ole boy!

    • Paul b

Oppps, just got back from early voting, Jim! Mitt didn’t get my vote! Gee, I guess being a real and patriotic American is more important than being a hater, right, Jim?

      • Jim Crawford

Well, Mr. stand on your principles while the dam breaks, your vote is as meaningless as Michelle’s last vacation.

More name-calling from the hypocrite Jeff.

      • Frank Kahn

ODS would best be used to describe Obama supporters. Look at the wording, it is obvious you made an error in your wording.

  • Walter & Renee Agard

Romney would say anything to be president. No matter what OBAMA says, he will try to find something negative about him.You won’t search for Romney’s negatives, and OBAMA wasn’t looking for anybody to let him off the hook, he was speaking the truth.Romney would say anything to get there, also they didn’t agree with one another,Romney just didn’t know what more to say, you could see it in his face, he had to follow along and agreed with what ever OBAMA said. What I know is Regan kept things going. There will be more progress when OBAMA wins, you just don’t want to see what he did and is trying to do because your focus on him is share negative.I won’t hold my nose when I vote for OBAMA because he is the one that will try to bring this great country back to where it was.He will continue with his good works. Romney is only for himself and his other Rich counterparts. It is humans-poor humans-the issue here. No one wants someone to lead that don’t care anything about us- HUMANS.

    • Gail Sullivan

Walter & Renee need to do their homework regarding Obama. How can you be so blind? If Obama gets re-elected, you won’t recognize this country in four years. I truly believe he hates everything about America as we know it. Wasn’t it Michelle who said that for the first time she was proud of America (after her husband was elected in 2008)? Obama’s mother, father, grandparents were all Communists. Hmmmm, he’s a Christian? Odd.

Now, did you want Obama to undo the Bush tax cuts and the wars on day 1? Sometimes when you inherit a mess, it takes some time to straighten out. In January 2009, we were heading over a cliff. You’re concerned that Obama spent money to keep that from happening. I guess you preferred it the George W. Hoover way.

        • tony newbill

Obama is Not letting the supply-side market grow the equity wealth , it shows in the GDP numbers , in 2005-6 GDP was 5 % today its 2 % and has not been but 1.3 till today . So the Dow was growing in supply expansion in the 2000s with real demand , not fake Printed Money like this Obama has been doing all to appease his Environmentalist Marxist base supporters . Get these people out of POWER NOW before they RUN US ALL OUT OF SUPPLY and then Order us to Build our own Concentration camps to ration our use of Supply .

  • michael a.

Chip, I could not have said it better-I too am not in love with Romney [I would much prefer Rand Paul or Jim Demint, for example], but after 4 years of the most incompetent and destructive anti-capitalist with no understanding of the Constitution he has sworn to unhold,
we cannot survive another 4 years of this misery. Unfortunately, many in this country do not
take seriously their duty to inform themselves on the issues before they vote. This is why we now have the least transparent presidency in history. It sounds like fiction-a president who has never worked a real job, let alone create one, or hire or pay employees, who has as one of his closest confidantes, a domestic terrorist, as well as self-avowed marxists serving as administration czars, unelected and unaccounted for. Both parties have made a mess-one taxes and spends, and the other just spends. Nevertheless, this president begged for the job and swore he could do better, and in fact, everything he has touched is
now much worse, in fact, history will show that Obama’s one claim to fame is that Jimmy Carter is no longer the worst president in history.

“we cannot survive another 4 years of this misery. Unfortunately, many in this country do not”

That is true, many are doing well, ~ but 4 years is not really any time at all to stage a long term sustainable recovery, and that is what has been taking place with a 2% economic growth the 3rd quarter for this year.

And as far as the rest of your claims ~ of Obama being anti business and anti capitalist, please make the effort to offer some support for these charges. Feel free to use the Keystone pipeline project if you want to, ~ but I will give you the heads up ~ I will blow you out of the water.

      • DaveH

Economic Growth, Deer? More like Money Supply Growth. Learn to distinguish between Real Growth and Nominal Growth.

      • Deerinwater

I realize many are having a hard time ~ but here in the Ft Wo / Dallas area business is good, not robust but much is taking place. ~ lots of major road construction LOTS! & Lots! and many large business complex’s are in mid production as well.

While my residential business has been in decline since 1996, taking a nose dive in 3rd quarter 2008 and hasn’t returned, my commercial business has been stronger then ever.

Residential work is peanuts and a pain in the assets anyway. It takes a lot of peanuts to pay the bills ~ and with every transaction comes the possibility you might lose your shirt. ~ Profits in not guaranteed for small business ~ no one there to bail you out, ~ and few residential retail customers understand actual market value ~ feeling that any price is too high.

Too many contractors competing in one area does drive down prices while I refused to compete with people working on the side , with no license, no insurance and stealing from their current employer.

I find it easier to work for professional people that expect and set a high bar on professionalism while having a grasp and understand of quality and current market values.

I look at it this way, ~ I use to be in the apple business and now I’m in the orchard business, I don’t chase down apples anymore. No longer having to go to a customers house after they get off work, deal with their pets, their rose bushs, fire ants, wasp, snakes, their gates, their neglected old equipment, their attics and crawl spaces has been a blessing.

Why I didn’t go commercial long ago ? ~ Who knows? People kept calling me ~ I suppose, went they quilt it was the best thing that could happen to me.

Everybody has got their only story about how they have managed to survived the last 4 years, it’s been tough for many people.

Everyone in the nation will not “feel improvement” at the same time ~ but I assure you ~ we are no longer in a steep nose dive. Regardless who’s the next President, the economy will be better then the last 4 years we have went through.

        • tony newbill

Another 4 years of Obama will be the beginning of the UN Global tax Initiative that will be the final dagger in FREE Markets zeroing out Private sector Profitability and then this will automatically open the door for the UNITED NATIONS and all Nations to Consolidate for the sake of the people’s needs and the Globalists will then have everyone in the palm of their hands as far as Who Controls the Resources and the Food and the Means to distribute these essentials , very dangerous . The Founders said NEVER NEVER become Dependent , always stay Independent in your abilities to provide yourself as a society , Watch out if Obama gets another 4 years because Obama Loves the UNITED NATIONS !!! HE has the rights to all Fresh Water Supply in the USA Ready to be Transferred to the UNITED NATIONS for Control and Management , what do you think will happen if Free Enterprise has a International Ideological Organization thats is Head strong about Population control and Population reduction controlling USA Water usage ??

          DEER WAKE UP !!!!!

        • Frank Kahn

Actually Deer, the current pricing of goods and services cannot be called market value. True market value is arrived by consensus of the person providing and the person receiving. If your customers refuse to pay what you demand, then your price is above the market value placed on it by the consumer.

This is the problem with our “sort of” capitalist economy. Greed, and the desire to have more and more profits from higher profit margins has pushed the entire system up to high to be maintained. This is what drives business to seek out other countries for manufacturing plants, the labor is cheaper.

Take your selling apples to having an orchard example. I used to buy apples from you, but you got your orchard and the prices doubled. Now I buy apples imported from Mexico because they are still the same price you used to sell your apples for. I told all of your customers about the Mexico apples so now they all buy apples from Mexico. You are in a business that sells apples, and only apples, so now you are faced with true market pricing pressure, it is called competition. You have several choices, lower your prices back to the level which the market (the customers) will allow, Reduce your operating cost (probably by laying off workers), Go out of business, Go bankrupt or move your orchard to Mexico. I intentionally left out the monopolistic option of buying out the Mexico apple producers and / or buying all the apples from Mexico so you can sell them at your inflated prices.

          • tony newbill

So Frank If we are to high in production price then the 15 trillion dollar GDP is going to come down and with it your wages and everyone else as we then do nothing to establish a base value for what it costs to produce and be Independently self reliant as a sovereign nation , and that free fall down to ASIAN labor values will be Our New Competitive Level and then the USA files bankruptcy and we lose any ability to maintian the FREE MARKET system in its current state , and once we open up this Pandoras Box what kind of destabilization do you think we will have as a nation and in the world ? Personally I would rather isolate from this trend of seeking Manipulated Cheaper labor in the world and RESET the Value system of what it takes to Retool a Industrial base here in the states again . Obama had his chance to do this and he just recently said he was interested in this idea but he lies about everything and he Should have done this with all that Stimulus money when he took office because he ran in 2008 on this very topic to Kick Hilary out of his way but then once he got that done this subject went to the wayside , up till now again so hes a Fraud on this and Ohio should think about this !!!!!

          • Jeff

And you think Romney would EVER embrace that idea? Corporate Republicans like Romney are in love with the idea of “free trade,” regardless the cost to ordinary workers. The economic system is there to serve people, not vice versa. If we decide it is in our national interest to maintain a domestic steel or auto industry, we must take action to guarantee that just because China can pay slave wages and undercut our domestic manufacturers that all the production doesn’t gravitate to China. Mitt Romney practically invented this way of doing business and remains one of its primary beneficiaries. He will do nothing to change the trade imbalance. Obama has already taken action, but he is limited in making real change by a hostile Congress.

The choice does not need to be between total “free trade” and total “protectionism.” We can identify certain industries as needing some measure of protection (e.g. tariffs) to make up for blatantly unfair trade practices. Globalization may be inevitable; that does not mean we have to help it along with “free trade” agreements that do not protect our labor and environmental standards. I didn’t like it when Clinton referred to these aspects of NAFTA as side agreements. To me, they should have been the essence of the agreement. With Romney, it would be even worse as he doesn’t believe in labor or environmental standards to begin with.

          • tony newbill

Jeff Obama is just a Tool of the Globalists he following their Plan of global domination for population control like Kissinger and all the environmentalist Marxists want he talks about in the NSSM200 and Kissinger is advising Obama today what do you think they talk about , don’t be fooled . Romney will reset this trend and empower Independence back into the USA its in his best Interest to do so because of the private sector wealth that will be lot if we continue down the Bogus Forward Plan Obama is selling !!!

          • Frank Kahn

First of all, please do some research on the term free market. We do not have a free market, probably never really did. Our economy is manipulated and controlled not free. There are many forms of manipulation, which includes, wall street, unions and government.

As with all capitalistic types of economies, our economy will be self correcting. It will correct itself no matter who controls it. This correction (like stock market corrections) might be sudden and severe.

You say some nonsense about establishing a minimum VALUE for things. I would caution you against using the word value. Value is, in most cases, contrived and wrong. If I buy all the candy in the US and double the price it sells for, is the value of the candy increased or just the price?

Inflating the cost of products and services does not increase their intrinsic value in any way. It is actually self perpetuating, the higher the prices the higher the wages, the higher the cost the higher the price. It is a vicious circle. You can liken it to building a house of cards. The first level is, at first the most difficult to build (the foundation). Then subsequent levels are relatively easier until you reach a certain point. Then the house comes tumbling down. In building a house of cards, you are better off stopping at a level that is still stable, so it is true with capitalism.

You mention cheap manipulated labor in Asia, dont forget that some of the outsourcing went to Mexico, where labor is also cheap.

This is possibly the source of the self correction of our capitalistic economy. We have met new competitors that can produce the products we need cheaper than we can. This will inevitably force us to re-evaluate our current policies on price manipulation. Unless you think maybe we need to go to war with China to put a stop to their producing inexpensive products.

Will this correction be painful, yes it will. Will it be bad in the long run, probably not. Will we survive it, answer yet to be determined. Inevitable, since the genie is already out of the bottle or as you put it Pandora’s box is already opened, the answer is probably yes.

Now, I would ask you to think about your proposed solution. Isolationism means many things. Not just bringing our jobs back but not trading with other nations. How do you propose to suddenly provide all the products that are currently coming from China? Retooling is just one step, you have to reopen all the closed factories, rehire, and possibly retrain all the employees. You have to pay for all of this, where does the money come from? Please dont say a government stimulus package, that is taxpayers money and is in short supply right now.

In the switch over, since we are not selling to anyone but ourselves now, who will be buying these products? How much should we pay for them? On the matter of produce, which comes from many countries and is mostly supplied from other countries in the winter and fall months, where will we get the food to eat? You like wicker furniture, sorry we cant import the bamboo. You like French wine, again sorry cant import it anymore. Who will use the American dollar? If we are totally isolated, what will prevent Russian and China from taking over the world?

Now, I have tried to answer you questions as fully as possible, however, I fail to see how my original post put you onto foreign involvement in our economy. I was simply explaining how market value is determined in true capitalism. And the use of Mexico was for a realistic scenario.

          • tony newbill

FRANK Kahn what Happens when the BRIC nations and OPEC reject the dollar as Trade Currency because of this debt and dependency we are now leveraged by them with for the Parts we desperately need because like you said we cannot afford to retool to build and be independent from these foreign suppliers so they cannot use this Parts Dependency against us ???

The debates ? Other then not being able to call the first one a debate , they didn’t have that much of an effect on me.

I did enjoy hearing Mitt Romney in action and making his sales pitch. Mitt is a capable salesman and this explains much of his success. HEY! zero taxes on capital gains could sound good to just about anybody until you figure out who would be left to pay for it.

Privatized profits and socialized losses, we don’t need anymore of. Mitt is in over his head and if elected it will not be him that pays the price for failure. America can chapter 11 and restructure from whats left from the ashes. Mitt Romney and his friends would like that.

In a Mitt Romney world, disaster means “opportunity” as long as he can keep the wheels on “his wagon” life is good.

  • Jim Crawford

Walter and Renee’, I pity your shallow knowledge of the real world. You’ve had four years to view a horrifically unqualified president who has no clue nor intention to help our country, much less strengthen it. Romney may not be ‘the knight in shining armor’ but he has no anti-America agenda like obummer. obummer has a proven track record of insolence, disdain and apathy for America and his job. He wants all the perks with none of the responsibilities or accountabilities. At least Romney has some moral character and the intelligence to surround himself with advisors more compentent than himself in matters where he needs additional opinions. Defending obummer makes you look like Kool-Aid drinkers and members of the “see no evil” portion of Americans that contribute nothing but criticism with no offered solutions. By the way, meeting our economic problems head-on is the first step to sovling our other woes and Romney is a businessman who means business.

    Not over yet…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAlpODSE92s&feature=g-all-u

You do have a REAL choice.

Btw, Chip, the only real difference you use to rationalize the stink of voting for Obama’s twin is, “big-government redistributionist schemes”. What reeks the most is to think you can fix anything in your own house without first ceasing to try fixing them in the houses of others. In other words, you are saying you would rather play the Emperor than play Robin Hood. You regard the dubious practice of taking from one and giving to others as more evil and more frightening than war across the globe that is a direct cause of waning personal liberties. Wartime makes redistribution easier.

I will vote for the candidate that best represents the will of the people, and remain steadfast in the principles of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence…. and I won’t have to hold my nose when I do it.

I’d hope you come to your senses and do the same.

NC so with what you said about Reagan and this Obama Libyan Impeachablke Office that has Death and Destruction tied to it , it would appear that Romney looks better than what we have had or would consider a second term for wouldn’t you agree ?????

Obama is flaming out with this Libyan crisis he has covered up . this makes him WORSE than Romney regardless of what Romney ever was , because this is am Impeachable Offense obama has on his hands , he is now in the bunker in the last days of his term as a failed presidency !!!!!! History will record this Libyan fiasco as the worse handling of a Batched foreign policy any president ever has handled . Its a Derelictions Of Duty to the highest offense !!! And it makes NO SENSE at all Unless you consider that He was Letting the Muslim brotherhood run his Foreign Policy there and they were ordering the strike teams that could have saved the Ambassador and the seals were Pawns that the Brotherhood used to get those Blood thirsty radicals motivated to attack and take the WMD cache that was stored there from the Qaddafi stock pile that was Loose in the Region ..
lets dig into the Libyan crisis a little and ponder what really might be going on here ….

We have reached a point of critical mass in our history and we need to stand up for what is right, our political system has been compromised and we need to send a message to these elitists on both sides, before its’ too late! The election is about sending a message to both parties, the stimulus which is ongoing yearly budget of about $1 trillion a year, used as a slush fund to keep the monetary system from collapse and as payoff’s to the power elites. The only way I know of to send a message is to these out of touch politicians is to throw the current administration out and keep the pressure on the new administration, daily! If they do not tell us the truth and work on behalf of the people, start the process all over in 4 years, this is going to take time, maybe even another 250 years. There is much work to be done, I understand that Romney is not the optimal choice, but he is the only choice. Let the hard work begin now, I for one, will not look back at history knowing that I did not do everything possible to help my country reverse our devastating direction. A vote for anyone else is a vote to destroy our future and give us no chance!

    Chip,
“So, no, I don’t expect miracles if Romney wins.”…..”But he’s sure a lot better than the alternative.”
How can you tell? So you were surprised by Romney’s stand on the issues.

“It’s hard to have a meaningful debate about foreign policy when the two candidates agree with each other about 99 percent of the time. ”
Isn’t that exactly what Romney had in mind? You’re quick to blame it all on the two candidates having the same views.
” Both Romney and Obama are members in good standing of the establishment’s foreign-relations club.
You may be right, but in the past, even the very recent past, Romney wasn’t so agreeable.

The simple truth is, Romney was like an over challenged fighter going into the clinch to avoid the big blows. He was falling over himself to agree with the President. He went from criticizing the President for announcing an exit date for Afghanistan to promising the same. He says there needs to be more effort to bring Israel and Palestine together, but said we should “kick the ball down the field” during his infamous speech back in Florida. Back in Feb. of 2011 Romney refused to call Hosni Mubarak a dictator, but now he agrees with the decisions of the Obama administration to remove him from power.

What Romney showed us is that you can’t depend on anything he says. You may assume that he will tow the conservative line of smaller government and reduced spending, but that’s the same bet Republicans took with Bush, and look how that turned out.

A FRANKENSTORM IS BREWING AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WEATHER

Romney used the exact tactics that Obama uses every day, Romney knows that the public is tired of Obama’s blah, blah especially after 4 years and the first 2 debates. The silent majority cannot wait to get to the polls, there is a storm brewing and it sure is not Sandy or the Frankenstorm. Romney wanted Obama to politically hang himself and take all the talking points away as Obama and his minions would say “the ends justify the means!” Romney’s tactics were brilliant, since he knew exactly what Obama was going to do, no record and only empty promises that we all have come to despise!

I bet you were a big George Bush fan as well, willing to see cunning and cleverness where there was none.

This Cinderella Syndrome, speaking with pretense of being some kind of ambiguous majority is kinda cute too.

When Willard loses this election you will be among the first to claim it was rigged, I can hear it now.

And if Willard does by chance win, ~ everything will be peachy with you.

        • tony newbill

Obama has screwed himself right into the Middle East Ground with Lying about what really happened in Libya , he will not recover from this . Just like He and his Minions are LYING about whats Going on in the Breakdown and death of People in Libya he and his Minions will continue to LIE about economic growth and they will Run us all out of Supply if we don’t get leadership back in there that will enable working people to get back to expanding Supply in the areas we see Inflation in !!!!
What do you suppose all the Gossip papers make all their popularity profits from that keep them in business …. lairs Wake up DEER We need a New Leadership to Correct the course , and Don’t try and spin that Worthless GWB angle back into this Fray , it is not even on anyone mind anymore they could care less . We the People want a NEW Direction and Romney sure he has some issues but he would be way way better to make that Transition to a True Conservative than this Liar that has Only generated twice the Debt and he and his Minions pocketed most of it and besides that he has also directed the federal Reserve to enrich the Foreign To Big To Fail Internationalists with Even More DEBT than what was appropriated in Congress All Against the Will of Conservatives ( Remember TARP was NOT Obamas Bailout but that Money Obama and His Minions benefited from too , DAM GM Took it and Relocated 3/4ths of their Operations to China under Obamas Direction ) You are supporting a Thief DEER Wake Up !!!!
Obama wants Big Government doing everything for everyone like he has got through his years pursuing grants and other means of funding his salaries that were not directly connected to the free market supply-side economy that ACTUALLY PRODUCES and EXPANDS the SUPPLY –SIDE Markets , and ROMNEY DOES make his income Directly from the Free markets , so I was trying to distinguish between these 2 and what their economic philosophies are and why we are seeing a Government DEBT Ran Economy rather than a Private sector ran economic fundamental .
And the Longer we go in this direction and Not get the Private sector working to Expand supply and Generate wealth expansion and tax increases from this the closer we get to a delinquent Treasury account and foreign investor rejection of the US dollar as trade currency . But This is Obama and his Minions Goal that would then allow them to Nationalize the Free market in the USA and put we the people in a state of Dependency on Obama oh the Perfect plan for a Bunch of Ideologues who think they Know whats best for saving Earth from Those DAM FREE market screw balls that are Killing Earth with their Imaginary Individual prosperity , Liberty that a Old and Tied US Constitution represents !!! Thats what these People Like Obama Think and its time they are Voted Out of Power so we the people can get back to true self Guidance with our Majority of Voices Leading the way !!!!!

        Tony, Tony, Tony,

Reagan’s “supply side, trickle down” experiment didn’t work. His tax cuts may have spurred things into motion, but that was when the top rate was 70%! Look, in the past 31 years, we’ve had three major supply-side tax cuts. The top marginal rate was reduced from 70% to as low as 28%. Right now it’s 35%, and it could go up to 40.9% if President Obama gets his way.

Now, if the supply-siders were right, then investment should have boomed when tax rates were low, and slid when Presidents Bush (1) and Clinton raised the top marginal rate in the early 1990s. That didn’t happen. In the mid-1980s when the economy improved, investment increased. When it began to fade tax rates were lowered further, but investment still continued to slip. On the other hand investment boomed after the Bush-Clinton tax hikes, and increased again after the tax cuts early in President George W. Bush’s first term.

The tax rate isn’t totally irrelevant, but it’s not that important either. Producers don’t produce when no one is buying their product. Producers don’t hire when they don’t need workers to build products. It doesn’t matter if their taxes are lower and they have more cash in their pockets, and you can see that when you look at just how much money the big corporations are sitting on right now!
“American companies may be hoarding more cash than most of us had previously realized — about $5 trillion worth, as of 2009.”
        http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2012/07/the-5-trillion-stash-us-corporations-money-hoard-is-bigger-than-the-gdp-of-germany/260006/

Do you honestly believe giving them even bigger tax breaks will cause them to loosen the purse strings? History says no.

          Dear Kinetic1,

You write: “Reagan’s “supply side, trickle down” experiment didn’t work.” You are incorrect.

          Best wishes,
          Bob

          • Jeff

            Bob:

I was never a fan of Reagan, but it was primarily his rhetoric I thought was terrible. He ushered in an era of greed where almost anything a vulture capitalist like Romney wanted to do was to be applauded. If it made money, it was good. Everything else was bad. I also thought his symbolism was all wrong. You don’t kick off a campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi for nothing.

Reagan’s apocryphal stories were either made up, distortions, or outright lies. The most famous goes back to his days as Governor – the welfare queen picking up numerous welfare checks in her Cadillac. And the “young buck” in the welfare line. These stories were made up but they stoked the kind of racial resentment intended.

He did similar things with respect to tort reform advocacy. He told a story about someone in a phone booth who was hit by a car. The punch-line for his audience of adoring yahoos was “and he sued the phone company.” The truth was the phone booth was defective, it was a dangerous intersection, and the jammed door had claimed previous victims. Does that make a difference?

Reagan also started this whole mythology about government being the problem. Ever since, Republicans have run against government, saying it can’t do anything right, then get elected and prove it. In actuality, no Republican in modern history has shrunk government. Republicans don’t care about government size or deficits; they want tax cuts and they don’t want money spent on poor people.

All that being said, Reagan governed in a far more pragmatic manner than one had any reason to expect given the rhetoric. He did Iran-Contra and he conspired with the Iranians during the hostage crisis, both impeachable ofenses in my view. But he wasn’t a moron like W. I can’t imagine Reagan being foolhardy enough to have gotten involved in Iraq. And he was far more pragmatic than the current mob of Republicans in Congress.

          • tony newbill

Bob I would rather have Private sector economic trickle down markets enabled by a PRO Business EPA than this Obama Trickle down Big Government Cronyism that Thinks its the smartest ones in the room on LIFE and who should have LIBERTY ( hint Libya )

        • tony newbill

Obama is doing nothing to promote te prinate sector to expand supply in the areas inflation is showing cost of living increases and in fact he is stalling growth because his Environmental Marxist Bolsheviks , ( AKA the EMB network of Lobbyists that Rule Washington DC ) are forcing him too cause stagnate growth with Over regulation thats is so Bolshevism that we will experience famine in the world soon the very thing the Bolsheviks did to establish depopulation policy and start eugenics , and so they can shrink supply and inflation wipes out the Capital system, so they can take over and regulate the rate of consumption to ride Earth of Over Consumption and to many people

          • Jeff

Perhaps if you could write a coherent paragraph, you could convince someone sane to agree with you. As it stands, so long as you throw in the “Bolsheviks,” you’ll convince your amen chorus while assuring that everyone else simply laughs at you.

          • tony newbill

JEFF sorry man , but you are ignorantly dismissing the truth about what Obama stands for , Bolsheviks are in Obamas Teachings and he is implementing the theory with regulations and crippling ZERO interest Federal Reserve policies that has the Private sector Money supply bleeding out because of a Flawed Trade Policy that is routing the Money in consumers pockets out of the USA in about to circulations all in an effort to break this country , and he is about to finalize the plan of his Globalist Bolsheviks with the end of the year Fiscal Cliff that will send the markets crashing as everyone sells off before the end of the year to take the lower tax rate on the profits made over the last 3, and a half years by the big banks and hedge funds before the bush tax cuts expire . This will usher in the need for Bank account freezes and nationalization and at this point everything changes . But if Romney gets elected all this goes away and people will not sell off and cause our FREE Enterprise system to collapse , WAKE UP and Vote Romney for your own sake Man !!!! Obama and the Globalists need to be stopped at the gates of hell and made to honor the US Constitution and stop this madness of World domination and Population Control Power to the People in Red White and Blue !!!! TIME is right you need to study what is really going on its been building for years , and has been a on again off again issue that hell fighters have so far through out the decades have being able to fend off , but it takes a majority yes and that majority quietly has been slipping away ….. are you going to be the one that send us all over the Cliff JEFF ???

          • Jeff

Utter [expletive deleted]. You guys make the same argument against every Democrat, and the economy almost always does better under Democrats. In 1992-93, you guys said Clinton’s tax increase would sink the economy. The opposite happened. In 2000-2001, you guys said W’s idiotic tax cuts would spur the economy by giving Mitt Romney more money to sock away in the Cayman Islands. Surprise, surprise. Wrong again. Sorry, you guys have cried “wolf” too many times. Not buying the Edsel this time.

The Fake Growth during the Clinton Administration was a Relocation of our Industrial Might with his Give away our Sovereignty to the WTO Free Trade Agreement that Only Consolidated all the wealth with merger after merger and that was the only growth in the markets up to the 2001 crash that left all of Clintons fake growth and surplus flat on its back with all the fake and pumped up book cooking of the Multinationals so called asset values. since that period we have only fed this Devaluation Monster with more of the same failed policies across the board Bleeding us all out of first our secondary wealth which was just our access to credit thats now gone so we are watching the Old folks Bleed out their primary reserves along with all of us in the middle bled out and living on less and less and less , and the Obama has Only added to this Bleeding out process while enriching himself and his cronies as did the other side . But JEFF This is a New time for us if we want to take the chance and head this Mighty Ship called LIBERTY and allow freedom to help us rather than a Bunch of Ideologues , and I think Romney feels this same way . he knows the time has come to save his ass…ets or give up to a Radical bunch of bandits that are trying to dominate the world and Obama and the globalists are helping these bandits all the way as a means to Their Ideological ends as they think they can survive with bribes to these radicals but that will not come to pass because radical eat themselves when the supply runs short and most of them don’t know jack about food production they come from SAND and you remember what Sam Kinison SAID about that don’t you JEFF ????

Isn’t that what used to be called entrapment? Did WND try the same trick on the Romney campaign? It’s not like some foreign terrorist came to Obama personally with a large amount of money. How much was the donation – $10? I’m sure it slipped through the cracks. I’m sure Obama will give you back your $10. WND is about as desirable a political ally as OBL himself. I wonder if Sheriff Joe will attempt a citizen’s arrest on Obama over this enormous scandal. • Jeff

I read The Population Bomb when I was a teenager. Ehrlich is a biologist who believes over-population will destroy quality of life. But he’s not endorsing any Nazi-style extermination efforts. The ironic thing is as women become more educated and societies become wealthier, the birth rate drops naturally. No mandates, no concentration camps.

          • tony newbill

JEFF You didn’t listen to Paul Ehrlichs audio did you but It says this in the transcript , he wants to do just like Obama said and take the Higher Tax Money and redistribute it BUT NOT in the USA but Abroad , so that sure is not going to help us Here like Obama is Trying to make it sound HUH ?????

          • Jeff

But he agreed with the Royal Society report that said human population and consumption should not be divided. “[They] multiply together. You have to be deal with them together. We have too much consumption among the rich and too little among the poor. That implies that terrible thing that we are going to have to do which is to somehow redistribute access to resources away the rich to the poor. But in the US we have been doing the opposite. The Republican party is wildly in favour of more redistribution, of taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich.”

I take it that was the offending paragraph? Where does he mention Obama? While agree with some of the sentiment stated by Ehrlich, the likelihood of any of that happening is approximately zero. We can’t even stop redistributing wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich, much less reverse the process. If our meager foreign aid budget can actually assist poor countries to achieve some sort of economic self sufficiency, the population issues will be solved of their own accord.

Ehrlich is not an advisor to Obama. But you know who does advise Romney? 17 of his 24 foreign policy advisors are from the Bush Administration. Can you spell “preemptive war?”

          • tony newbill

JEFF Why don’t you and Ehrlich , Obama and all your Little progrssive technocrats that think they need to Control everything and population in the world to save Earth from man kind go live and Implement your strategies in the countries in the world that are experiencing Overpopulation issues ?
The USA is a Sustainable Society IF we IMPLEMENT Immigration Rules , the fertility Charts show this so Go BE Smart where your Smarts are NEEDED and Leave us in the USA Alone with your Ideology , but Instead Use this Nations way of Life as a Model !!

          • Jeff

And what would the U.S. be without immigrants, most of whom were considered “undesirable” by the likes of you when they came here? For the past 150 years, immigrants have provided most of the energy in the economy, most of the brain power, the scientific breakthroughs, etc. If it weren’t for a combination of Hitler’s racial idiocy and our acceptance of immigrants, guess who would have developed the first atomic bomb? Immigrants in the future will pay into social security so you can keep blogging nonsense well into your dotage.

          • tony newbill

What is stunning is how the Democratic Liberal Progressive Marxist Bolsheviks can be for population control and Deducing Population , and then turn around and be a Open Boarders party , that just doesn’t make any sense at all , JEFF explain this will you please ???

          • Jeff

Who said anything about population control other than you? I said if you empower women with education and economic opportunity, they will always have fewer and healthier children. It’s one of the reasons we need immigrants to keep our economy going. You know, if you continue to assume “the other side” is for everything you’re against, your thinking will continue to be muddled. Read a real newspaper and stop believing all the idiocy on the right. Those people have an agenda and it generally tracks with the economic interests of the Koch Brothers.

          • tony newbill

JEFF but empowering the Educational value by redistributing a stagnate growing supply of resources is a recipe for supply shortages and so here again the idea of consolidating all the power and control over the resources away from the free markets and into the hands of the federal Government with Extremely high Taxation Gutting the profits away and collapsing the capital system is why you guys are screwing up and can’t get it together with your rhetoric about why BIG Government is the answer to everyone’s problems !!
We need to expand the supply and empower everyone to reach the Higher levels of prosperity with more abundance for all and that educational value you are talking about will self regulate the growth in Population all under the Free market for profit system that you down grade as the equalizer .

          • Jeff

It’s not the size of government that is the key issue. The government needs to do certain things. Democrats and Republicans disagree about what those things are, but Republicans do not shrink government. Democrats believe that we can use government for the betterment of society. If you look at the history of the 20th Century it is the story of increasing government regulation of the economy. You guys talk about returning to “the free market” as if there’s some magic in returning to the 19th Century and the Age of the Robber Barons when most people had no rights and there was no federal oversight of commerce. Business was free to lie and cheat, insider trading was rampant, there was no inspection of food being sold, workers had no rights and no protections, and when you got too old or sick to work, you were expected to die. Sounds lovely.

          • tony newbill

And Obama is all about this When he says the Capital system never has worked never will , and the US Constitution is an Old tired rag that needs to be viewed as a Living Document subject to change as he see fit ?? Ha ha ha you painted such a Pretty picture of your parties Ideology but its a Cover -up to a greater sinister plan of world domination to control everything everyone to save earth , its in their words man wake up !!!! They want to Oppress with the controlling of abundance taking the abundance from the rich and Or yeah they say they will give it to the POOR but with all the Marxists Environmentalist Bolsheviks out there pushing for world depopulation you think they will Blow over their own supporting Power that keeps them In Power I think NOT Jeff Wake UP !!!

You are simply an idiot. Democrats are not Bolsheviks. They’re a little bit less controlled by big money than are the Republicans.

          • Jeff

I just received this email. I’m surprised it doesn’t have your name on it, it’s that nuts:

            Dear Reader,

Most people believe the next election is all about whether or not Obama will have a second term.

            But it’s not.

The truth is, the next election has already been decided. Obama is going to win. It’s nearly impossible to beat an incumbent president.

What’s actually at stake right now is whether or not he will have a third-term.

There’s a secret to understanding how we know Obama will seek a third term. There’s a secret to how he’ll garner the power to win, yet again… and keep power through 2020 – or even beyond.

These things will change the political climate here and abroad. These new forces will increase the wealth of the United States and improve our standing in the world economy. But… in the process… they will also empower the president of the United States… perhaps enabling him to implement the most terrifying socialist policies in the history of our country.

You can access my analysis in written and presentation forms, free of charge, here.

So Chip, you’re plan is to prolong the inevitable? To what end? You think something is going to change for the better under Romney?! You think you’re buying time?! For WHAT?! We’ve had LIFETIMES of time and NOTHING has changed for the better under the two party system.

You think Romney will stop the bombing of innocent countries, reduce military spending and incursions, balance the budget, reduce the deficit, restore constitutional rule of law, fix/fund/reform social security/medicare/medicaid, restore personal liberties, shrink the size of government, abolish the Federal Reserve and return to sound money, abolish the IRS, end quantitative easing, end crony capitalism, repeal Obama-care and every law that has no constitutional basis, end executive orders that are laws unto themselves, abolish DHS & TSA, end domestic spying, exit and oust the UN, re-install the equity and common law courts, secure the border and deport illegal aliens, stop the chem trails, make food labeling mandatory, abolish smart meters, stop agenda 21, end nuclear energy, clean up the gulf oil disaster, clean up the west coast fallout from Fukashima, remove fluoride and chlorine from our drinking water, or end the pharmaceutical monopoly?!

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama have promised to do NONE of these things. NOT ONE!!! These are the things that matter. These are the real problems of the people. If you think voting for either Mitt or Barack is going to help you (the 99%), then you’re worshiping a false idol. That IMO is the very definition of throwing your vote away.

    • deerinwater

You lost me with the “worshiping” ~ not a good word to use ~ people don’t worship politicians ~ find another word that is more descriptive. All that does is piss everybody off and weaken your posting while your argument was sound until then.

      • DaveH

There are many people who Worship politicians especially the President, Deerinwater. The fact that you don’t doesn’t change that.

  • Paul b

There are a bunch Pure Haters posting here. I’m afraid they are not even taking heed of the recent comments by Rush Limbaugh. He’s got it right when he says that the Republican Party (he is talking about the Elite Establishment here) doesn’t care a hoot about the REAL Conservatives, except at election time. The next real chance for Conservatives is 2016 if Romney gets elected.

    • tony newbill

Paul so that means we need to Let Obama have another 4 years ???

      • deerinwater

Paul is saying what I have said all along, ~ 4 years of slow steady progress while the real conservatives come forward with a true conservative contender is preferable to 8 years of Willard who is being backed by the very same people that Bush Jr. They are not Conservatives, W’s policies were not Conservative nor will Willard’s be.

    • DaveH

Haters, Paul? Why don’t you save the manipulative words for ignorant people who are swayed by such nonsense?

  • Paul b

Actually I meant 2020 if Romney gets elected… 2016 if Obama gets re-elected. Think LONG GAME!!

    • tony newbill

Paul thats the best desperate spin attempt ever !!!! I bet if they made Obama Chocolate you would become a Obese supporter huh ?

      • Jeff

        Tony:

Has anyone ever told you you’re not very bright? Your girlfriend should have told you in high school. It might have saved you the embarrassment of speaking in public. Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Jeff I pray for all of us that we find common ground and that ground be The Rock of Gibraltar , not some person or bureaucrats perception of what we are to be .

“But I know what will happen if he loses. ”

Unless you can tell the future accurately you do not know what will happen.

“The Barack Obama who campaigned as a moderate will not be the same person who takes the oath of office in January (an oath to “preserve and protect” the Constitution that he has no intention of keeping).”

I believe that he is and will be. That’s called a difference of opinion. Isn’t this country great that we can have all of these differing views without worrying that a minority of voters will attempt to seize control of our Government if the elections don’t go their way?

“he’s shown that he’s perfectly willing to appoint unConstitutional czars (he has 23 of them so far) and issue new executive decrees to achieve his aims.”

So did Bush (have the same number), and they are not unconstitutional by any means. They are appointments that do not need Congressional approval. And most of those positions are not new. Nor are their titles “Czar”. That is just a name that was given to them by the press because their titles were so long. The President’s has since picked up on the names. But they are not actually Czar’s.

As for Executive Orders, every President since Washington has had them. You might want to look them up and see what they said. You might be surprised.

Romney looked far from being Presidential when Obama was laying all the facts on the line Romney could only agree. The Mitt looked totally clueless when it came to foreign policy and his big gaffe on Syria being Iran’s route to the sea made him look stupid. He doesn’t even know his geography very well.I thought Mitt was going to have an anxiety attack when he started sweating, stuttering and stammering when asked a question and seemed so relieved when they said they were going to move on to another question. Then his clueless look started all over again. The guy is not ready for prime time for sure.

    • eddie47d

Maybe Mitt plans on building a canal through Iraq and Syria once he conquers Iran. He’ll pitch in the first million.

  • r.p.

The only difference I saw between Barry and Mitt was; Barry didn’t like the way Mitt made his millions and Mitt didn’t like the way Barry made his millions. Big difference heh?

    • deerinwater

Well Obama might well have a few million laying around today, I got one million myself ~ and it’s really not as much money as one might think anymore, while Willard has hundreds of them! ~ Your attempting to compare the wealth of these two men is far reaching.

      • tony newbill

Obama wants the Government to be the number 1 investment portal instead of the Private sector leading the way in investments to expand the supply-side markets and generate profits that will increase the tax revenues . And the reason why Obama wants Government doing this is because he and his Environmentalist Marxists Bolsheviks wants to control the supply and rate of consumption like a twitch on a Horses Nose so they can Ideologically reduce the Impact of Earth . But the problem here is Obama will in effect reduce supply production and expansion and not keep up with the population growth demand and cause GREAT CONFLICTS to Emerge this is not the right way to go about bring sustainability to Earth .

Being Up Front about Earth being a Finite Element and then allowing The educational Value of this understanding to reach FREE Thinking people to make the right choices about how to conduct their Lives and sustain their Liberties and freedoms is what we need as Leadership in Washington DC and United Nations and we better start Demand this truth to come out of these ELITES tell them to be Truthful instead of this Behind the scenes tricks that are slowly and methodically taking away our rights our liberties with policies that are just consolidating our free market Resource control , wealth creation and supply production and rolling it into the hands of Governments around the world !!!

STAND AMERICA STAND UP AND DEMAND THE TRUTH TO COME OUT OF THESE PEOPLES MOUTHS !!!! We can do this without a Top Down Forced Agenda by these OVERBEARING IDEOLOGUES WHO THINK THEY KNOW WHATS BEST FOR THE SHEEPLE !!!

These crazy debates ! They have not answered my question ! My question is “What’s in it for me ?”

They got to be joking when they ask for my vote and offer nothing….

    • http://gillysrooms.blogspot.com GILLY FROM AUSTRALIA

      Simian_pete,
i suggest you consider the following options:

If you have nothing then Vote for Obama…because he will take from those that have to give some to you.

If you have money you have two choices either vote for the Republicans who claim to offer lower taxes but still have to tax you in another way so you dont realise its going cost you money

OR Vote for OBAMA who is telling you the truth to your face that he going to increase your taxes.

So who would you vote for…the STRAIGHT SHOOTER TELLING YOU THE WAY IT IS or the guy who is pretending that someone else is going to pay?

OR you can Vote LIBERTERIAN who are suggesting a different way so everyone rich or poor pays tax and maybe less overall without creating more agressive wars.

  • http://gillysrooms.blogspot.com GILLY FROM AUSTRALIA

The best foreign policy is that suggested by Dr Ron Paul and already practiced by the China government and that is to MYOB MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS and trade diplomatically without getting involved in other peoples wars. I siggest that is the real reason why China is in the strong economic states its in. While ours and your politicians talk tough and get involved in other peoples wars and their business, the peaceful industrial wars are getting won by the true traders, manufactuers and business enterprises looking for and developing businesses and raw material production by the Chinese..

Im going to suggest that the root of our problems in the world today is when religious people get invloved in politics eg the Crusades to the Holy Land of promoting Christianity and when Blasphemy was a deadly crime in the middle ages and now we have the Muslims repeating history in a much worse situation it seems. The Chinese have basically banned religion and are enjoying relative peace in their territories and maybe this phobia with China might be a little overdone dont you all think?. With Romney being a Mormon is a great disadvantage in my opinion if he is going to use his religious beliefs to continue the wars with Islams, his verbal wars with China about their undervalued currency, his dissaproval of abortion in America etc……. it would be safer for your nation not to vote him in on basic religious grounds as he is already showing agressive behaviour and he still not got the job. Agression against the Chinese and the Muslims. We just dont need more religious wars…whereas Obama for all his many faults does not seem to get involved in the religious sides of the debate.

Now lets think of China’s foreign policy…..im no expert …but they not fighting wars anywhere except inside China much the same as your various police forces in every state do every day. The Chinese work on diplomacy and building their industrial mite…not just talk…its actual action and thats why they are in the position of strength today.

You should not denigrate their work ethics….their trading skills of selling to the world at cheaper prices when yours & our very own union led workers have overpriced themselves against the workers of the Asian and African nations. Its ours and your governments’ fault our workers are overpriced…you cant blame your competitors the Asians & Chinese for being wiser than our silly bunch of politicians.

We have been the silly ones as voters for voting in silly egotistically minded politicians without any real skill but talk and conmen able to convince you into rewarding them an overpriced job without setting real job duty targets. Politicians are voted on the promise they can manage the taxpayers better than their opponents and to extract more taxes but in a nicer way say the republicans whereas the Democrats are not nice about it , they just tell you straight…they going to increase your taxes. The Republican offer is to do it in a nicer way, but the reality is the only ones who can pay the taxes are those with money and businesses the way your tax scales are based…thats where a Consumption Tax as suggested by the Liberterians would be a better way to remove all other taxes, but you did not buy that idea did you Republicans? You wanted to nominate a Mormon and vote him in and keep making the same mistakes done in previous administrations. Losers always choose losers to lead them…. in my opinion IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE. . think outside the box vote in the Liberterians or keep OBAMA.

  • Ron

Just because Republicans tried to sweep President Cheney and Dubya under the rug at the Republican Convention, lest America be reminded that it was the Republican Party that face-planted America into the longest war in American history, don’t kid yourself:

“The Bush vision of an America unhesitant to impose its will with or without international support had cost the country too much in lives, resources and international standing, and the neocons and other top Bush figures had fallen into disrepute, perhaps never to be heard from again. But now they’re out of the wilderness — and finding homes in the Romney campaign.”

If America elects these greedy idiots back in, we deserve all the misery they intend to bring us.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-bushies-are-back-and-playing-for-team-romney/2012/08/31/b27357c8-f2de-11e1-a612-3cfc842a6d89_story.html

I wonder if that means that, after the coup d’etat, it’ll be treason to criticize the President again under Cheney 2.0–like it was under Cheney 1.0?

No calling President Romney a “piece of [expletive deleted] who can suck on my machine gun”. RealAmerican SuperPatriots won’t allow opponents to talk to a white president like that!

  • SJJolly

Romney’s true operational philosophy is to transform himself to whatever will get him to whatever his current goal is. If elected, the Tea Party Republicans will heavily push hard-right, even more so that the neo-cons pushed GW Bush to get what they wanted.

A second Obama administration likey will see a further expansion of government, yes. A Romney administration, if backed by Tea Party control of Congress, would see government greatly downsized, starved of funds, and fenced about by strict constructionist Constitution interpretions, to make it a servent of big business. At least with big government, citizens get some say.

  • Carol

If Mitt arrives in Washington, every right-wing extremist, anti-intellectual, anti-science nut will be following him.

    • tony newbill

Carol you are an Ideologue who like Obama and all the Liberals think you are the only ones with the ” RIGHT IDEAS ” for whats BEST for our nation and the world and thats why we are screwed up and stalled out with no income growth that can create and sustain cost of living growth by supply expansion which will stabilize cost of living inflation . You cannot contain Cost of living inflation without supply-side expansion and growth in the areas that cost of living is inflating and Obama and his Environmental Marxists Bolsheviks are doing NOTHING about this and has NO intentions of doing so .

See the world demand is out pacing world supply and the USA needs to innovate and expand supply with alternatives in food , and when the USA tries to feed the world with current production systems it sucks us dry , but if we are only feeding ourselves then we have abundance as we only would consume 1/3rd of what we produce . So there are 2 ways we can go either we Isolate or we Innovate , http://www.agweb.com/article/end_users_skimp_as_corn_supply_is_divided_up/

Why do the Republicans and Democrats work so hard to marginalize the Libertarians?
Simple — We believe in Free Markets. The Crony Capitalists in both major parties would actually have to please the consumers under a Libertarian Government, instead of just greasing the palms (or campaign funds) of their Crony Politicians:

Same old broken record blaming others for your screw ups. The people to blame for the condition of the country is YOU, and republican g.o.p. What did you expect when you voted for “W” (roses) Every time you put a right-wing republican in the office the country ends up in war. This your chance to make a difference peace or war. LYING ASS mitt romnie said he will start a war. If Anti American congress would work with the President maybe the country start getting jobs for the American people. But nooo this white congress man cannot allow the President to look good to the American people, republicans congress need to stop being racist, race baiting, you continue to vote against your best interest and the nation interest by voting for “W” and 41 lets not forget dumb ass reagan. reagan was the end of the begin the distraction words don’t mean what were intended, you know like when a woman said no and you think she means yes. that’s what your party has been doing to your dumb ASSES. Your guys are bunch,of dummies the g.o.p knows it to. hears one for you How many times have the other side have tried to take your guns away? ZERO, ZERO TIMES. But how many times have your cable bill, phone bill, bank fee have gone up? you can thank that ASS HO-E reagan for that and his dead but his policies live on. WE are in this mess because of YOU and republicans and yet YOU blame the president because his black that’s is the only reason the blame falls on YOU and the white republican party. you guys are muppets I hope lying ass mitt, become president we need another war. Who you think is going to get rich YOU? or the stock holders???? Did any of you get rich from the last two wars? NO But who got the Blame? a BLACK MAN, by a bunch racist dumb asses and you!!! Your MUPPETS

    • Frank Kahn

Ah, how new and refreshing, a racist liberal claiming that everyone that is smart enough to be against the Obama style of administration are racists.

And can you believe it, all of us who understand the fact that Obama is a failure are stupid and A$$e$ as well.

It sure is refreshing to see a post from a liberal that really goes after the issues and provides us with solid facts and reasoning to support his opinions isnt it?

I sure am impressed with his mature and rational reasoning ability here making all these wonderful statements.

I guess he knows what he is talking about, since all the rest of us are obviously white people who hate black people.

We should be ashamed of ourselves not getting on our knees and kissing Obama’s backside like he does.

NOW LETS GET SERIOUS JON, YOU WANT TO POST A COMPLAINT ABOUT SOMETHING, TRY BEING CIVIL, TRY STATING WHAT EXACTLY SOMEONE DID THAT YOU THINK IS WRONG. GET A CLUE ABOUT THE REAL REASON WE DONT LIKE OBAMA. STOP READING THE BIASED LEFT WING MEDIA AND LEFT WING “EXPERTS” SPIN ON REALITY.

I actually read an article today that was talking about prejudice in our country. It said that prejudice against blacks has increased in the last 4 years. I was almost ready to believe it, then I saw that it was published by a liberal. How do I know it was a liberal? Well, the same way that I know you are a liberal. He made statements that were patently wrong, and by doing it he was siding with Obama. He said that this was the reason for congress refusing to pass Obama’s legislation. He then said that, now get this people I almost crapped my pants from laughing so hard, he said “Obama has intentionally avoided mentioning race during his term in office” he also said “Obama is avoiding getting involved in issues concerning race”. Okay so those statements (being lies in support of Obama) makes him a liberal and quite frankly, a racist.

Now, if you want me to give evidence to prove that those two quotes are lies, let me know, I will be happy to give you documented evidence of it.

Now Jon, you see how a complaint can be handled with civility and no demeaning name calling (unless you consider the word liberal to be demeaning)?

I am not dumb (dumb means unable to talk), nor am I stupid (the correct word you were looking for). I am not a racist anymore than anyone else is a racist. I dont form my opinions of someones ability based on color, religion or sex, I form them from the persons words and actions.

      • DaveH

Like so many English words, “dumb” has taken on multiple meanings over the years:
        http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dumb

      • http://crybabies agaist evil doers

As we all know most can’t emit one’s short comings Instead is easier to blaim others for our mistakes for example blame Obama intead of republicans congress, blame Obama intead of “W” blame you who voted for bush who put this country in the mess we are in. The majority of setting congreman are White. White old men who stil believe that theyre supurior to all others they know what is best should it fail just blame others (Democrats) or just go on fox tv and spin lies. They know fox tv listeners have the IQ of a ice cube. Did you know you can go coast to coast none stop all you hear is right-wing radio station glen beck, rush, fox tv But you will only hear maybe one a liberal station to twenty right-wing station. we live under hidden communist system. White America is so inept slow they do not emit when they are fooled as bush did us and now we lives under “W” policies bush adopted many hitler ideas policies example german gestapo in english it means Homeland security heres another blame you accuser before they accuse you, said enough time you base will believe you and repeat the same line (spin) republican (America) have thier own state radio fox news and cnn. Most people fill uncomfortable being same side of the street when someone of color is walking toward you explain why people cross the street. or look away even voter suppression against again only people of color if that is not racist what is? a’m not asked for my ID for some thing but they do ask my color friend for an ID that is not right. most of you probably supported bush wars and probably against Obama with drawing or ending em but did any actually go probably not neither did i I was to old But i was station S. Korea 1973. mitt supported viet nam but did he go NO he refuse as he said that is why we have black paople for. mitt son supported bush last two war did they go NO. as they said why should they. now the few people that did participated in bush wars republican congress want to take away the benifits away. bush and republican congress took some my.benifit away. Dumb meas unble to speak remember whe bush could not speak when he was ask question now thats DUMB. remember when they asked him about 9-11 and bush replied and talked of the 2nd airplane hitting the tower now thats stipid because 2nd plane had not hit the tower till 20 minutes later. Is refreshing to have well spoken president compare to bush no comparison. some of can’t stand the fact that he’s black But to be the president and black as they say this is a white nation they can take it. i know their other out their that fii the same way. But as i remind them we are members of immgrant from europe. popa johns pizza complain over romnie/obama health care, he said his pizza’s will cost .14 cent more to make. well i refuse to buy popa johns pizza because now i know he’s going to charge us more for the same pizza. besides he support republican ideas I do not. republican stand for every thing America is not. your side said one thing but mean another. Frank you dont even know when your side lies to you but its call romnesia that should explain everything. When republican say they stand for freedom and want to limit or take right away what do they stand for? say onething do another thats republican way Again romnesia republicas will be the one to take the guns away but they will blame others for it. take that to D bank . muppets!!!!!!!!

        • tony newbill

Against Evil Doers , Who signed into Law the NDAA ? Who Signed executive Orders to take control of YOU BANK ACCOUNT , http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/13196-another-obama-executive-order-allows-seizure-of-americans%E2%80%99-bank-accounts , and Obama can take YOUR MONEY OUT OF D Bank !!!!

        • Frank Kahn

First of all there are many, many, many either wrong or irrelevant items in your post.

Some of it I have to try to interpret due to your style of writing and spelling.

You made some bad assumptions about me. I am not a republican, I dont fall for lies (from either side) and I dont listen to Fox news.

Nowhere in my post did I say that Romney, or the Republican party are always right or that they dont also lie.

Since I am not personally acquainted with any of the congresspersons or representatives, I cannot say whether they are racist or not. I will challenge your assertion that they obviously are just by virtue of being OLD WHITE MEN.

I do not cross the street to avoid passing a black person, nor have I actually witnessed such behavior. I live in the Northwest, so maybe I have not had the same experiences that you have in this matter. I have however traveled to almost every one of the 50 states, and have not witnessed it in my travels.

I have over 8 years of military service, including 4 during Vietnam. During my service, I did not encounter anything that I could call white prejudice (racism) in action. I did however encounter many instances of black prejudice (racism).

On the subject of ID’s being checked, I have had my ID checked many times for many different reasons. There are many legitimate reasons for verifying a persons identity before allowing then to proceed. All black people in this country should have an ID available just like all white, Mexican, Asian, Oriental or Europeans.

On your assertion that the WHITE men in the legislative branch thinking they know what is best for all of us, yes they do. However there are a couple things wrong with your train of logic. First of all you should not emphasize the word white in referring to them. To do so is a form of prejudice (racism). They attained their position of power because they thought they knew what is best for everyone. Their psychological makeup drives them to seek power over others (not just blacks). To say that they do things with the express purpose of hurting or keeping blacks down is not reasonably accurate. They do what they perceive as best for their own financial and control needs. This analysis is valid for the black and Latino legislators as well.

Now we come to your words about the blame game. OOOOOO, you stepped in it big this time.

Obama (and his administration) have blamed everything on everyone and everything except themselves. How is this any different than what you say the Republicans do?

And, you even got specific, saying that Republicans always blame the Democrats.

Well, lets see how the Democrats lay blame. Obama says the economic crisis is all Bush’s fault (blaming a Republican). Obama says it was all Bush’s fault that we were involved in Iraq and Afghanistan (blaming a Republican). Obama says that the economic problem started with Reagan’s “trickle down economic theory” (again blaming a Republican). I am not sure of the political affiliation of the producer of the video that Obama and his administration blamed for the terrorist attack on the consulate in Libya, but maybe he was a Republican also.

Now, with all those examples, none of those assertions by Obama are accurate, and in the last case it was an out and out lie.

You say many things that you cannot know because they simply are not factual.

You lump all Republicans together as “dumb as ice cubes”. First that is impossible and it is a prejudicial statement.

You seem to think that everyone who disagrees with Obama is a Republican (using me as an example), that is not true.

You say we are blind to the truth, who’s truth are you speaking of?

You say we believe all the Republican lies, again, who’s truths are you using to say the Republicans are lying?

I think you need to do some self analysis. If you take your accusations about Republicans and apply it to yourself with regards to the Democrats, how often do they fit you?

I know that almost 100% of politicians lie at one time or another, regardless of political affiliation.

I dont think that all Democrats are stupid morons who blindly follow the dogma of their party.

I dont think all Republicans are stupid morons who blindly follow the dogma of their party either.

I dont think that either party is made up of all extremists.

I dont believe that either party is totally responsible for the problems we are facing in our country today.

Now, will you still try to pigeonhole me as a Republican?

Your spelling and grammatical syntax is indicative of something.

I dont want to pigeonhole you but it sounds like you might be from the deep south (south eastern US).

I dont think this is relevant to the subject at hand other than to say that there might be more overt racism to be seen there.

Jon says — “Same old broken record blaming others for your screw ups. The people to blame for the condition of the country is YOU, and republican g.o.p”.
No sooner has he accused people of “blaming others for your screw ups”, then he blames the GOP.
Thanks Jon, for exposing to the readers the mindset of a typical ignorant Liberal Progressive.

I was disappointed that there was no discussion of our U.N. membership, about the U.N and its partner Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe monitoring our elections, no talk of protecting our borders v. The War on Terror, and no discussion about the role of foreign aid.

I don’t have to hold my nose. Romney has true integrity, something we haven’t seen in a long time–in addition to support for real marriage, a view against abortion except in cases of rape, incest or to save the life of the mother–and a core belief in the constitution and freedom. Romney will enable us to get out of debt and take our country back. And a charitable man from his youth, instead of the Obama-only care about himself syndrome. Romney collects food for hurricane victims; Obama does photo ops.

THE REAL PROBLEM … Is “NOT” Being ADDRESSED! Voteing in Any FORIGN LANGUAGE… Realy how can that be ignored???

After watching the last debate I believe that even Romney is going to vote for President Obama. He agreed on the great job he is doing and almost every policy brought up.This is huge when Obama gets an endorsement from Romney, Christie, Powell and Bloomberg.

    • Jeff

This is nothing new for Romney. When he ran against Ted Kennedy for Senate, at, or immediately after, their debate, Kennedy said something to the effect: “Give Romney 2 more weeks and he’ll endorse me. He’s adopting all my positions.”
