Weapons Of Mass Repetition

In 2003, then-Director of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency James Clapper told reporters that Saddam Hussein moved his stockpiles of chemical weapons to Syria in advance of the second Gulf war, calling it the “the obvious conclusion one draws.” Clapper’s assessment was echoed by a general with the Iraqi Air Force, Georges Sada, who noted as many as 56 flights and multiple truck convoys carted the weapons of mass destruction across the border. The pre-invasion WMD pipeline is further touted by Israeli intelligence, Syrian dissident accounts and even American satellite imagery. Though there was no doubt Saddam had possessed and used chemical weapons (a fact to which the victims of Iraqi chemical attacks in both Kurdistan and Iran would doubtless testify were they not dead from chemical-weapons exposure), they had vanished from Iraq. Putting aside the hotly debated veracity of President George W. Bush’s infamous rationale as well as the eyewitness accounts of those few people who survived the aforementioned war crimes in Iraq and Iran, the question requires an answer: Where did Saddam’s stockpile of chemical weapons go?

Last week, the Syrian government of Bashar Assad decided to cross whatever line comes after the “red line” that President Barack Hussein Obama declared uncrossable more than a year ago. In a move that seemed only slightly less desperate than would one by the Comcast flack assigned to make MSNBC palatable to the viewers who avoid it like it causes brain cancer, Assad deployed chemical weapons — which he likely borrowed from his fellow Ba’athist wacko, who used to live next door — against his own people.

The body count from Assad’s chemical attack remains unclear, but the reaction was spectacular. By Sunday afternoon, sources were indicating the Obama Administration was preparing a naval strike package against Syrian government targets. By the time you read this, there may well be neighborhoods in Damascus that are even more depressingly miserable than they were before.

But how did the United States of Barack Obama find itself in such a predicament? I was under the impression that the election of Obama in 2008 permanently ended war, oppression and religious intolerance. I mean, they gave the guy the Nobel Peace Prize without a shred of collateral. I’m willing to admit that dealing with the Mideast at a diplomatic level would test the mettle of even a marginally competent statesman — something to which Obama can only aspire.

The Democrats spent most of the 2000s shrieking to the rafters about the warmongering failures of President George W. Bush. Some of their criticisms, although issued for the wrong reasons, were correct. Once it became apparent the WMDs were gone, the whole endeavor became a replay of Vietnam — only with much cooler action scenes and a lower number of wasted American lives. In Iraq, we whacked a homicidal islamofascist and replaced him with a group of homicidal islamofascists because the former was becoming increasingly troublesome and because he had used WMDs before.

Then, Obama got elected in no small way as a result of being one of the few candidates who could say they said “no” to the war. Well, Dennis Kucinich could say that, but he talks to space aliens. And I think Hillary Clinton still says it, but Clinton has always had kind of a weird relationship with reality. Darn it all, Bush had lied to America about WMDs; and any candidate who wasn’t either Obama or the spaceman from Ohio with the semi-hot wife was clearly in on the sham with Bush. We were done with war and done with using phantom WMDs to justify it.

Though he ended direct combat operations in Iraq, Obama replaced them with indirect and somewhat indiscriminate targeting of civilians in Yemen. And despite an apparent media blackout on the topic, combat operations in Afghanistan are still very much a going concern. We certainly remember the recent unpleasantness in Libya — although everyone in the Obama Administration short of the postmaster general lied about it, some of them under oath. I don’t know about the rest of you, but Obama’s idea of hope, change, peace and improving America’s standing in the eyes of the world seems oddly similar to Bush’s. The only real difference appears to be that Bush was more discerning about spying on his own people and was whole let less “droney” — at least over domestic soil.

Look, we can all have a big discussion about the merits of America’s self-assigned role as policeman to the world’s crappiest precincts. I happen to believe there is logic to neutralizing those who seek to do us harm before they can board Air Jihadistan for their flight to Allah’s secret grotto via Cairo; Tel Aviv, Israel; Berlin; Paris; Oslo, Norway; London; New York; Shanksville, Pa.; and wherever else all the hippest suicide bombers are pressing the “send” button on the hotline to the afterlife. I also happen to believe that not everyone who disagrees with me is necessarily enabling islamofascism like Al-Jazeera. But it’s worth noting that we spent nearly 10 years stomping on islamofascists in Iraq — and are still doing so in Afghanistan — over WMDs we knew existed and thought might have been moved to Syria. The guy who won the White House in 2008 and again in 2012 swore up and down that not only was he was going to deliver peace in our time, but he was going to make the world unite in harmony. (Calls to mind that old, cloying Coke jingle.)

In this late age of Obama, countries upon which we could generally count to not completely devolve into an ululating rendition of the Hatfields and McCoys have devolved into open warfare. The Egyptians — evidently not content with behaving like medieval Christians — are now targeting 21st century Christians. And now, we’re gearing up for war in Syria because some lunatic islamofascist used WMDs against a bunch of lunatic islamofascists. Scroll past the endless speeches about hope and change. Ignore the pronouncements by every Democrat from Central Park West to Malibu that Obama would be the most awesome thing short of the second coming, if not even cooler than that. The Navy is preparing to engage in direct action against the homicidal islamofascist running Syria, presumably to replace him with a group of homicidal islamofascists, and all because he used WMDs, which Administration official Clapper says he got from Iraq. “It’s déjà vu all over again.”

Ben, I do not understand WHY we should worry about islamists, when there is war on Christians?

My dear Brothers and Sister in our LORD Jesus Christ:
    This is ALERT for you.
What I found out it is totally DEVASTATING NEWS – there is a war on you – on Christians and thus on the whole Christianity – with the plan to TERMINATE us. And it’s not what you think. I am not talking about the open war on Christianity by this RACIST GODLESS LAWLESS DEBAUCHED administration. Nope.

I am talking about another war – GENETIC war, which is plotted behind the curtain.

The final goal of this war is completely TERMINATE / FINISH Christianity.

I understand you are inpatient so here is PAINFUL News.
After years of the research GAY SCIENTISTS at Pink Tiger Research Institute (PTRI) in Australia have identified a genetic marker which they say proves Christianity is NOT choice, but it’s inherence as boldness.

These Gay Scientists have isolated the Christian (!!!) Gene which makes people Christian.

Their hypóthesis is based on the experiments with the “Christian” rats..

The Gay Scientists at PTRI are now looking for further FUNDING in order to CONTINUE THEIR RESEARCH for an explanation of Christianity altogether, and to HELP DEVELOP THE METHOD TO REMOVE the Christian GENE, as they did with their “christian” rats. Their Rats now are Atheists.

My dear Brothers and Sisters, this is NOT a First April joke. No doubt me.
(I thought that there only DemocRats.)

Oh man, Sciense is a powerful engine of the civilization, especially in the hands of the PERVERTS. And we can fully rely on the GAY scientists. In my mind no doubt whatsoever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0x6zzG-f0M

P.S. “Our Liberals Friends”, in spite of your greediness you can invest in your cause by donating to the Gay Scientists research and HELP DEVELOP THE METHOD TO REMOVE the Christian GENE. Once and for all – F O R E V E R !
    Isn’t your dream?

Alondra, Proud Un-Apologetic Christian Bigot and definite Homophobe & Islamophobe.

    • Paul

I believe scientists are very close to isolating the “gay” gene. A new form of war is in the future—–genetic warfare.

The Hagmann & Hagmann Report: Steve Quayle

The world stands at a Biblical ‘pivot point’ and at the crossroads on the map of the globalist end game. The people of the United States are about to pay the price for the actions of the globalists they put in power and have remained silent while they continued down this path of destruction. We are seeing the ‘New World Order’ replacing the ‘Old World Order.’ Although the faces have changed, the luciferian bloodlines have not.

Let then kill each other by what any means they choice. I lived in the Middle East for 9 long years working. And I have come the conclusion by my personal interfacing with them that they are all in my opinion are crazy and mean, in breed by marring their first cousins, they are taught this because this is the way they are taught and raise since the day one or their birth. Anyone whom does not believes is Ali is concerted an inferior infidel and should be killed by any means, meaning Christians. This is a complete, absolutes and total “FACT”. I have learned this personal from talking and living with the Arabs. You could not pay 10 million Dollars a day to be any the Middle East Country now. I have been in every county in the Middle East and they are all a like. We as Americans should keep out of the war in Syria and or any other Arab county. I do condone the killing of anyone, PERIOD, but sometimes you have to let so regime in a another countries to take care of their own business and keep the U.S.A. out of other peoples problems. In my opinion Obama is going to drag us in to a war where Americans are going to be killed needlessly. Obama’s Arab brothers should be aloud to kill each other thus riding the word of them thus removeing future problems in the future. WE AS AMERICAN’S NEED TO TAKE OF OUR PROBLEMS HERE FIRST, feed the poor, feed and give medical to children and the elderly. And the 18 million Mexican who here illegally should all be forced by gun point back to Mexico, and shot if they come back.

    • amazed108

I think I agree with your comments but could you post in English next time so I don’t have to guess what your point is?

      • billybob

I think I agree with him too! Lets go back to isolationism. We have over 300 years of oil here in this country and another 400 years of oil north of us in our once friends Canada. I say once friends because the current administration is trying very hard to piss off all of our once friends. Lets get rid of all of the liberal Media BS. If they want to publish fiction, then do it in a book form not with their biased opinions. Lets throw out Al Gore and his merry thieves with their made up fariy tale about global warming, lets creat jobs here in America with meaningful benefits. What jobs you say. Well we can bring back the Auto industry along with the oil industry, Solar and other forms of power is always welcomed. Sorry you rich folks wind mills over looking your billion dollar estates may be a good thing not an eyesore. If you lower the taxes many once American companies would come back! I know that iit is incomprehensible to Socilaist to think that Capitalism works but it does. Lets get rid of Obamacare and Socialism. I wouldn’t mind the government taking out 10 cents a month for insurance for those who don’t have it. Each and every person in the US can handle ten cents a month. Ever those on welefare. That adds up to $33 million per month or 1/2 billion per year. Now I was told that there are approximatley 57 million people in the US without insurance. Not everone is sick, not all have pre conditions to keep them from seeing a doctor. Why screw up a thing that has worked for years with one that has failed every where is has been tired. It is like a guy who keep hitting himself on the head with a hammer, thinking that the next hit won’t hurt! Lets rethink the way we appoint the Supreme Court, It is political no matter what they tell you in interviews. Justice is not blind! Lets identify all of those who wish to become Americans with the old Green Cards. Then the NSA can monitor them to make sure they are honest hard working and most importanly want to assimulate in to this country with language, education and live the American dream what ever that is? If they screw up lets deport them back to where they came from. Why bring more problems to this country? Taxes should be a flat tax. If you make a billion then you should pay your fair share. Lets redo the tax structure! That in it self could provide hundres of thousands of people with employment for years. Lets limit the politicians from making it their profession. Term limits should be the norm. If they are their for more than six years they can no longer apply for a job. No more switching jobs like musical chairs. All of the time is for any government type job. It would get rid of people like Jerry Brown who have made a business out of switching jobs. He was the govenor of the State twice, Attorney General, Mayor, and a dozen more government type positions. Now he get a pay check from every one of them as a part of his retirement. It made him a miltimillionaire. People should serve for the people not themselves. Another one who likes the power is Mayor Bloomberg. He want the Stae of New Yoek to get rid of term limits so he can stay in power. That is an abuse of power.

Remember the Kirkpatrick Doctrine? While it was attempted to be
enforced in Nicaragua and El Salvador during Reagan’s tenure as
president, the anti-communists in Egypt were the Muslim Brotherhood.
That’s the reason why they ‘won’ in Egypt. The only group in Egypt who
could have CIA operatives would be the MB.

Sadam did have chemical weapons and he transported them to Siria. However, the true reason for our ‘offensive’ action was an attempt to corner the
worlds oil reserves. And benefit Bush’s oil buddies in Texas, like Dick
Chenny and Haliburton. However, a Dutch company, Shell, actually got a
big chunk of the oil infrastructure rebuilding in Iraq.

“However, the true reason for our ‘offensive’ action was an attempt to corner the worlds oil reserves.” Ah, the leftist myth never ceases.

95% of the foreign exchange earnings of Iraq are due to the oil sector. KG would reduce US presence in the Iraqi oil mix (only 21.4 % of Iraqi exports) simply to reduce profits to US oil companies as a matter of principle. Doesn’t matter to KG that it would hurt the people of Iraq.

“Corner the market”? I think not. The major players in Iraq are Shell, Petronas, CPNC, BP, Lukoil, ENI, Occidental, KOGAS, Statoil, Gazprom, TPAO and Exxon. Doesn’t look like cornering the market was ever an aim.

Ever true to form, smilee gives us unsubstantiated speculation and I provide facts and figures.

Care to provide a source for your propaganda, child? What’s that? I didn’t think so.

Smilee will go down in history as the dumbest poster on PLD.

          • mark

But smilee is right. The Iraq War was a disaster for the U.S.: 5,000 U.S. dead, 40,000 U.S. wounded, amputees, paraplegics, and mentally traumatized. $2 trillion cost to U.S. tax payers. Not to mention an estimated 165,000 dead Iraqis, most of them innocent victims in a U.S.-provoked civil war. And for what – to overthrow an anti-Islamist regime that held Iran in check? To shatter an effective bloc against Iran by reducing Iraq to three, weak, truncated states where women have to wear the veil that Saddam forbade, and where Christians have been slaughtered and driven out in at least 2 of the 3 states? The Iraq War only served to make Iran more powerful by crippling Iraq. And today we have continuous bombings, terror attacks, and instability after a failed 8 year U.S. occupation. The illegal U.S. invasion only stirred up more jihadist and anti-Western/anti-U.S. hatred in the region and around the world bringing more and more recruits to jihad (many are now fighting in Egypt and Syria). The U.S. was revealed to be a laughing stock in this war by it’s “Mission Accomplished” arrogance, the non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction and links of Saddam to the 9/11 attacks, and the failure of U.S. forces to defeat jihadist insurgents who still run wild there today. The evidence is pretty damning whether smilee mentioned it or not.

          • smilee

I did not mention all this but thank you for putting it all in perspective and telling the real truth

          • smilee

Circumstantial evidence on this is a mile thick very obvious to those who pay attention which you rarely do, Last I looked you were way below me in spreading misinformation and malarkey making you a lot dumber. You never answered my last post on slavery, guess your BS caught up with you and left you speechless..

          • Vigilant

I said, “Care to provide a source for your propaganda, child?”

Smilee said, “Circumstantial evidence on this is a mile thick…” and provides no source whatsoever.

Circumstantial evidence? Cheney retired from Halliburton in 2000, the Iraq war began in 2003. How’s that for “circumstantial evidence?”

You’re right, I never wasted my time answering your oft-repeated same old, same old UNSOURCED speculations and screwball ideas about the Constitution not condoning slavery. As ALWAYS, I provided sources and quotes and you provided nothing but your own fantasies. You are a joke and everyone is laughing at you. With an increase of IQ, you might actually catch on to that some day.

          • smilee

You failed on all counts, do some research on your own for a change. That would make give you knowledge to know you are wrong. You never proved your point on the slavery issue because you did not provide sources that supported your views and claimed they did and I did in detail and you were stumped and to arrogant to admit that so you were forced to abandon it or admit it,. Sure Cheney was not employed at Halliburton then but he sure had interests, big interests in it and that is were his loyalties were, not with the good of the country.Open and honest research will tell you this as we both know you will deny any truth I give you because of your pride and arrogance. If you do come the truth I do not believe you will share it on here for that reason.

          • Vigilant

Does it ever penetrate that cretin skull of yours that I provide references, quotes and source material and you NEVER have?

How does one talk about “honest research” and is yet never able to quote such? You’re nothing but a bunch of hot air, amateur.

          • smilee

Quit your lying Vigilant as I gave you detailed references and explanations of my position in great detail. You gave your references which did not apply to it but claimed they did and when I in detail showed you where you were wrong you had no response because you then knew that you goofed and all you name calling and rudeness cannot change any of it. You lost this one buddy!!!!!!

          • Vigilant

I refuse to engage in discussion with a liar. You gave NO references whatsoever.

            Conversation ended.

          • smilee

Go back and read my posts you will see all my references and my detailed explanations and then if your honest you will know it is you who is doing the lying. We both know you were wrong on this one, be a man and admit it.

You just love to kiss obama’s backside. He is a coward who backed the UN to invade Libya, kill Khadafy, steal his gold and oil. Obama is the type of thief that will stab you in the back and never approach you face to face. You like him because he is a communist like you
Go back to your mothers basement do some more praying to your obamagod

      • mark

Get a few basic facts straight. The Libya operation was a NATO not a UN operation. It never would have received UN approval because Russia and China would have vetoed it in the UN Security Council. And Obama did not steal Gaddafi’s gold or oil. All Libya’s gold ( a measly 144 tons vs. the 8,133 tons the U.S. already holds in Fort Knox) remains in the Libyan government’s control.) And Libya’s oil is sold on the global market at standard market prices mostly to Southern European consumers. American oil companies and consumers purchase only minuscule amounts of Libyan oil and when they do so it is at market prices. Buying a commodity at its international market price is not stealing.

Our President and Saul Alinsky has one thing in common. They find it hard to sit down with the huge pair they have. As well as Clinton. • Vigilant

I answered your question but I’ll not be drawn into a stupid game of your choosing.

          • KG

Your answer seemed to imply that our president, Mr Obama was untruthful in his oath of office. So I wondered what kind of president you thought would have been more truthful. Noticed I picked all Republican presidents. All republican presidents that screwed over the American people with their false patriotism. The same kind of patriotism YOU seem to exhibit.

For many people around the world their fate has been sealed and they shall be departing from this dimensional plane.

Good news! Good news! The book: “Impeachable Offenses: The Case to Remove Barack Obamafrom Office is now in print and are selling very quickly. This book tells about how Obama bin Laden Care is unconstitutional as it is nothing more than “taxation without representation.” But alas! We knew that. Here is an article showinhg how Obama bin Laden wants to fire missiles at Syria without approval by Congress.

“Look, we can all have a big discussion about the merits of America’s self-assigned role as policeman to the world’s crappiest precincts. I happen to believe there is logic to neutralizing those who seek to do us harm”… EXACTLY, but how do you neutralize a tyrannical government that is always setting off false flags at home and abroad to mislead us…Syria is but the latest example, i.e. not the last one we will see.

  • Moshe McCarthy

It’s way too late in the game to get involved, just send humanitarian aid to the poor Syrians forced out of their homes & fleeing across the borders…So, Obummer rushes into Libya to prevent a POSSIBLE humanitarian disaster, then does nothing when a real full blown one is taking place right before our eyes. Makes no sense!

I agree with Ron & Rand Paul, stay out of these things, save our gold & blood & let the other nations figure it out! & get out of the JOKE THAT IS THE UN!

  • Patriot_Dave

    Excellent choice Ben,

    “Weapons Of Mass Repetition”

… but I have to ask…How many times are we going to buy into this?… I knew as soon as ‘W’ announced his plan to invade Iraq that the WMDs would be gone in hours…. and viola…they were enroute to Syria!! As long as WE (the US Government) continue to ‘telegraph’ our intent to end these scourges, the ‘WMDs’ will move again and again… who gets them next? A surgical strike in 2003 would have ended this problem, but NOoooo WE let it drag out until all of the ‘offending’ weapons were clean out of sight…It ‘could have/should have’ ended then but it ‘would have’ also left US fewer ‘enemies’ to combat!!… I firmly believe these weapons were given a ‘pass’ so we could ‘find’ them later and pursue another ‘armed conflict’ to keep the MIC happy and rolling in proffit….

Why? IMO Because of their ‘investments’ in the MIC….

More warmongering. Get those bad guys before they get us!
But wait a minute. If we strike first, doesn’t that make us the bad guys? Oh, to hell with logic — USA! USA! USA!
For those who aren’t mindlessly chanting the above:
In 2000 Iraq began selling its oil in euros.
In 2006 Syria switched all of the state’s foreign currency transactions to euros from dollars.
In 2009 Iran completely stopped conducting oil transactions in U.S. dollars.
In 2011 Libyan Leader Ghadafi decided to to pursue a gold standard and reject dollars for oil payments.
And you wonder why the US Government involves us in these countries? Can you say Bankers?

      DaveH,
I agree with you… wow…who’d a thunk it…But don’t forget about big oil… what happened to the price of oil after we created instability in Iraq? Price of oil skyrocketed… then there is the military industrial complex who needs justification for its 700B a year budget

      • TheOriginalDaveH

The increased price of oil is due primarily to the decreased value of the dollar which is due to profligate money creation by the Federal Reserve.

        • Dave

Not in 2003 it certainly did not… it is a combination of the relaxed rules on oil futures and wall street criminals taking advantage of the war conservatives brought out of thin air.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

There are many factors that play into the price of oil DaveH, the first link explains that to you and then the second two talks about speculatory oil trading has impacted the price of oil. Thanks to the conservative Phill Gramm of TX.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

If you knew anything at all, Dave, you would know that futures speculators can only “drive” up the price of oil temporarily. Like any speculative activity, if the market conditions that encouraged the speculation don’t hold, the speculators lose and the prices go back down. Only long term developments in market factors (supply and demand), or decrease in the buying power of the dollar, will cause prices to remain high.
If you read the article I linked to, you would know that. But heaven forbid that a Propaganda Spewing Shill should learn any truth.

          • Dave

            DaveH,
Yes, I know you know everything DaveH, and that temporary drive up is maintained through artifical means like war (iraq) or the mere mention of war (Iran making its idol threats in 2009) to create a new price noramlity because the oil companies, OPEC all collude together to control the supply and demand. It wasn’t til the commodities market collapsed in 2007-2008 that the bottom fell out of the oil market along with the rest of the stock market. Go back to mises and see if you have any more ignorance to favor us with.

          • Vis Fac

DUMB DAVE I didn’t know Idols could be threatened I suppose if you are referring to the Hollywierd Idol Matinée Idol or Teen Idol I suppose that is true.

And again you got it wrong The DEVALUATION OF THE US DOLLAR is what causes prices to soar not short term speculation.

I once used the analogy of dilution of liquid soap as an example and as usual it all sailed over your head. Adding more water to liquid soap (adding more dollars) causes the soap to be less potent and more is needed to accomplish the same task. (more dollars to purchase the same commodity) I suppose this too will sail over your “pinhead”

          • Dave

If you knoew anything DaveH, you would know wall streeters do not care about the long term, they only care about the here and now. They go as far as the next quarter but thats all wall street has time for when it comes to long term thinking. But their short term thinking gets put together over a long term and then you have a price history. Which has been going up at a stonger pace minus the 2007-2008 stock market correction/collapse.

First off, there are conflicting reports about just who attacked who with chemical weapons…
#2… Whether saddam had WMD’s or did not have them, it was NO justification for our invasion and occupation that will cost this country 3T once its all said in done… for what again? Oh… the Chinese getting the oil contracts and Iran has more power…. Thanks conservatives…Our false premise has screwed us once again.
#3. We have zero business involving ourselves in Syria. There is only one entity that has any right or ability to do anything about Syria and that is the UN. If the UN decides that action should be taken, then fine… Lets let China who is awash in cash and people get some skin in the game and take the lead on this one…. Hmmmm… Just read the resolution and maybe your eyes can tell me where the UN calls for military invasion and occupation?

Oh… hey dummy… Here are the resultions that Israel are in violation of… When do we invade, useful idiot?

Res. 57 (Sep. 18, 1948) – Expresses deep shock at the assassination of the U.N. Mediator in Palestine, Count Folke Bernadotte, by Zionist terrorists.

Res. 89 (Nov. 17, 1950) – Requests that attention be given to the expulsion of “thousands of Palestine Arabs” and calls upon concerned governments to take no further action “involving the transfer of persons across international frontiers or armistice lines”, and notes that Israel announced that it would withdraw to the armistice lines.

Res. 93 (May 18, 1951) – Finds that Israeli airstrikes on Syria on April 5, 1951 constitutes “a violation of the cease-fire”, and decides that Arab civilians expelled from the demilitarized zone by Israel should be allowed to return.

Res. 100 (Oct. 27, 1953) – Notes that Israel had said it would stop work it started in the demilitarized zone on September 2, 1953.

Res. 106 (Mar. 29, 1955) – Condemns Israel’s attack on Egyptian forces in the Gaza Strip on February 28, 1955.

Res. 111 (Jan. 19, 1956) – Condemns Israel’s attack on Syria on December 11, 1955 as “a flagrant violation of the cease-fire” and armistice agreement.

Res. 119 (Oct. 31, 1956) – Considers that “a grave situation has been created” by the attack against Egypt by the forces of Britain, France, and Israel.

Res. 171 (Apr. 9, 1962) – Reaffirms resolution 111 and determines that Israel’s attack on Syria on March 16-17, 1962 “constitutes a flagrant violation of that resolution”.

Res. 228 (Nov. 25, 1966) – “Deplores the loss of life and heavy damage to property resulting from the action” by Israel in the southern Hebron area on November 13, 1966, and “Censures Israel for this large-scale military action in violation of the United Nations Charter” and the armistice agreement between Israel and Jordan.

Res. 237 (Jun. 14, 1967) – Calls on Israel “to ensure the safety, welfare and security of the inhabitants where military operations have taken place” during the war launched by Israel on June 5, 1967 “and to facilitate the return of those inhabitants who have fled the areas since the outbreak of hostilities”.

Res. 242 (Nov. 22, 1967) – Emphasizes “the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war”, emphasizes that member states have a commitment to abide by the U.N. Charter, and calls for the “Withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied” during the June 1967 war.

Res. 251 (May 2, 1968) – Recalls resolution 250 and “Deeply deplores the holding by Israel of the military parade in Jerusalem” on May 2, 1968 “in disregard of” resolution 250.

The last thing we need is another war. Like Force Recon, I left many friends who will never come back from “Nam – for what? Viet Nam is now a tourist attraction. We could have skipped the war for all it accomplished. Politicians got us into this mess in the Middle east, W made it worse but at least Halliburton and others made a fortune.

Now another war to help religious fanatics that will hate us no matter how much we help the because of our infidel ways.

Let’s support our troops by keeping them home.

Let the fanatics kill each other – the more the merrier.

I concur whole heartedly Let them fend for themselves no one cares for us unless it is our money and that will soon end. Then all we can offer is arms to be used against us.

There is a more pressing need here than anywhere else; and as the old saying goes “charity begins at home” To do that we must be self reliant and to do that we need educated and motivated people, and to do that we need less government interference.

This will not be a George W. Bush War like Iraq and Afghanistan: some 250,000 U.S. troops on the ground combined in both theaters, 5000 U.S. dead in Iraq and 40,000 wounded, paraplegics, amputees, mentally traumatized – 2,000 U.S. dead in Afghanistan, 15,000 wounded, paraplegics, amputees, mentally traumatized. Cost to U.S. taxpayers for both wars: around $3 trillion combined. Syria will be an Obama “war” as in Libya: 0 U.S. dead 0 U.S. wounded, 0 U.S. paraplegics, 0 U.S. amputees, 0 U.S. mentally traumatized. Cost to U.S. taxpayers: a few hundred million dollars – all because there will be 0 U.S. boots on the ground in Syria as there were in Libya. There is a HUGE difference between the way these 2 presidents wage war. Never forget it. Not a single member of a single family of Libya “war” veterans had to bring flowers to a hospital or a cemetery. It will be the exact same for the families of U.S. Syrian “war” veterans.

In other words, in mark’s mind, killing is okay as long as you do it his way.

          • mark

No, not my way, Obama’s way: cheap, zero U.S. casualty intervention. I have zero input on U.S. policy and would not do this since the way the administration will approach it will not accomplish much (might have lots of “collateral damage” also) and either of the 2 possible outcomes – Assad or the rebels win – is a not a good one for the U.S. But apparently in your mind, Dave, standing by and doing absolutely nothing as thousands of human beings get killed with chemical weapons is okay, too as long as it is done the mises way.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

You don’t know who did the killing, mark. All you know is what the Propaganda Media tells you.
Given that neither of us knows who really is at fault, why would you want to get involved in taking sides and the inevitable further killing that such action results in?

Standard smoke screen tactics to avert attention. “Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it” seems not to matter The Vietnam war was entirely political we had these new toys the defense department want to test so they prolonged the war I was in on one of the first experiment in laser guided munitions (wasn’t all that successful in combat conditions) an unexpected monsoon storm disrupted the laser (big bulky and hard to aim) so the munition missed like a standard dumb bomb. The Hunt Bros made a fortune providing “C” rations and Brown and Root made a fortune in construction.

The American military personnel and their families were the losers. We did it because we were misled into thinking we would win instead we were political fodder like all the others from Korea till now. one more won’t make any difference. We have the capability to win only our politicians haven’t the stomach to do so. “Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it”

I did say few. Those who are acclimated to cold dark conditions will more then likely survive those in temperate zones most likely not. Living in bunkers with filtered air and at least a six month supply of food and water might be survivable but how many people have that option. You can be sure those who started these exercises will be well taken care of because their $hit doesn’t stink and they are IMPORTANT.

I believe more can survive than most people would think. Those peoples of the world that the civilized cultures consider “primitive” will have the better chance since, 1. They probably won’t be targeted in the first place, and 2. Living closer to the “dirt” in their daily lives now, they will be better suited to such an existence in the future.

Of course, just like “The Planet of the Apes,” we will have “Forbidden Zones” that will last for thousands of years that nobody in their right mind would venture into…

        Red Neck,
There is not going to be any nuclear conflict… The people that lead these jihadist movements are just a bunch of arrogant azzholes that lack the courage of their convictions. They are happy to send their bumb followers to the afterlife but they want power… read “No Easy Day” where they talk about Seal Team’s 6’s encounter with Bin Laden or what happened when Ghadafyi came face to face with his demise at the hands of the rebels…. they cowered and begged for mercy.
They can’t rule over nuked territory can they?

        • http://www.OlGreyGhost.Blogspot.com/ Ol’ Grey Ghost

The nuclear threat is not from the Jihadists. You need to look at the bigger picture and what other players are making their moves in this game of chess…

          • Dave

Does not matter… MAD works and any player you wish to name, they do not want dominion over a nuked territory.

          • http://www.OlGreyGhost.Blogspot.com/ Ol’ Grey Ghost

MAD has worked up to this point between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R, but the Soviet Union no longer exists. And no one wants dominion over a nuked territory, but that’s not the point or objective in striving for domination of the rest of the world outside the nuked territories.

Truman didn’t drop his two bombs to defeat the Japanese as they were already defeated. He dropped them to scare the rest of the world to the point of incontinence. The same procedure will be applied again in the future in a more surgical, though equally effective, manner.

Those in the targeted areas will end up no less dead regardless of the outcome, but those who survive will probably accept some form of subjugation that promises World Peace, just like the U.N. was supposed to do. But there will be no peace as human nature takes a long time to evolve and the leaders of the new order are just human…

          • Dave

            Are you crazy?
Did Okinawa teach you anything? Do you know how many casualties we would have taken if we invaded the main islands of Japan? The Japanese are a proud people and in 1945, they believed in their emperor without question. They were getting ready to fight to the death.
Dropping those bombs were the only way to avoid even worse casualties…

          • http://www.OlGreyGhost.Blogspot.com/ Ol’ Grey Ghost

            “Are you crazy?”

No, but you have obviously taken the politically correct “blue pill.” The Japanese, starving and nearly out of oil, were suing for peace under a conditional surrender, but Truman, following the late FDR’s lead, would have none of it. He dropped the bombs on those “little yellow monkeys” (one of FDR’s more polite terms for the Japanese) and Japan agreed to an unconditional surrender.

But believe as you wish, and if there is no threat of a nuclear exchange, what exactly is your point? Are “We the People” supposed to allow Barry to go about snarling and pounding his chest so that the leaders of Russia and China can respond in kind, like some scene from “Gorillas in the Mist?”

Shouldn’t “We the People” let him know that we don’t have a [maternal canine] in this dogfight so all those anal-retentive alpha males can stop marking their territory in some bizarre worldwide contest of urine output? “Enquiring” minds want to know.

“Don’t [urinate] down my back and tell me it’s raining…”

          • Dave

No they were not suiing for peace under an unconditional surrender, he rejected Truman’s ultimatium… Considering the mood of the country after Dec7… The adjectives are not totally unexpected…
The Nukes ended saving more lives… the US was expecting to absorb 1M new casualties…
We should not be involved in Syria in any way militarily… End of story.

            Agreed…

  • chuckb

Barry’s not interested in stopping the loss of life in Syria, he’s assisting the Brotherhood in taking over another country. The video showing the supposedly gassing of civilians is probably no different than the last video he used to cover for his failure in Benghazi, it sure looks phony to me.
The American people should say no to this insanity. call the congress (it won’t do any good) however, if enough calls are made, maybe the idiot in the White House will get the message. This man needs to be impeached, his interest is in Islam not the U.S.

Barry is a complete loser, If we want to survive as a country this man has to go.

Bashar Assad is the same guy the left was praising two years ago. This is the same guy that Hillary Clinton called a “reformer.” This is the same guy that Nancy Pelosi said, “The road to peace goes through Damascus.” This is the same guy that John Kerry called, “a dear friend.”

Clinton is a moderate, John Kerry is a moderate… The road to peace does go through Damascus because they are the big funders of Hezbolah etc… Unless they are involved, it just does not happen so pelosi is right.

        • Don 2

Kerry said what needed to be said in order to make a name for himself in a liberal state for political purposes, just as he brought his own 8mm camera to film himself in Vietnam to later use for his political aspirations. Funny, the guys who served with him don’t back him up or support him. That speaks volumes.

The guy is a leftist creep, always has been. Tells the public that they must drive tiny little unsafe fuel-efficient cars, while he is chauffeured around in his huge black suv. Tells the public that they must pay their taxes, while he docks his new yacht in another state in order to avoid taxes. Can you say leftist CREEP?

          • Dave

I don’t have much use for Kerry but compare him to Bush, Cheney, Cruz and Rand Paul, and other right wing creeps he stacks up ok.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

What policies of Rand Paul do you disagree with, Dave?

          • Dave

I reject the idea that Paul is a “savior” when he plays the corporatist game…He is not insisting that his state give back the extra 50 cents to a dollar that KY gets in fed pork. Paul is playing to the audience that loves their services but doesn’t like paying for them….
I don”t agree with his position on Abortion. I want to see Abortion stopped but get it done though the social and economic issues that cause women to seek them.
Leaving equality issues to the states
            All drugs should be legalized
            The EPA should regulate pollution
            For starters…
I agree with Paul on issues as well. But he is just like any other politician.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Shill Dave says — “I reject the idea that Paul is a “savior” when he plays the corporatist game”.
First tell us what a “corporatist” is, Shill Dave and then tell us — How does Paul play “the corporatist game”?

            Rand Paul’s abortion views:
            http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/03/19/cnn-asked-rand-paul-about-abortion-exceptions-this-is-how-he-answered/
How does advocating for unborn children make Rand Paul a creep, Shill Dave?

Your drug comment was vague, Shill Dave. What do you claim that Rand Paul advocates in the area of drugs, and why do you oppose that? And how does that make him a creep, Shill Dave?

In regards to your EPA remark — Why should an unelected body of Bureaucrats be able to make rules when the Constitution clearly assigns that Power to the Elected Congressmen?
What is Paul’s stance on that, and why do you think that makes him a creep, Shill Dave?

          • Dave

Paul feels pot should be legal, he needs to expand it.
He advocates for keeping the poor, poor with his abortion views… That is one byproduct.
The Gov is elected by the people, those elected officals oversee the EPA.
If John Kerry is a “creep” as Red neck states then so are those politicians on the conservative side of the spectrum DaveH…
You don’t get to generalize your political opponents without getting the same back at you… You just don’t like it when your tactics are thrown back in your face. Corporatist DaveH

          • TheOriginalDaveH

How does Paul’s principled stand against killing unborn babies make him a “creep”, Dave? You might say you disagree, and that it is none of his business, but you can’t say he’s “creepy”. And certainly that wouldn’t wash coming from a Liberal Progressive who has no qualms about Forcing his way on other people.
And his abortion views have absolutely nothing to do with “keeping the poor, poor”, even if that was a byproduct of his agenda for some people. If you’re concerned about the economic state of the poor, then you should be even more concerned about the loss of life for those aborted children.
What is a Corporatist, Shill Dave, and what have I ever said that makes me one?

          • Don 2

You’re right Dave, Lurch Kerry is useless!

          • Jeff

So, Kerry has a yacht because he married a wealthy woman. Does that make his policy positions wrong? The fact that Kerry and Al Gore live more extravagant lives than you and I do hardly means they’re wrong about the need to phase out fossil fuels. It might make them hypocritical but who isn’t? Meanwhile, when W was in office, he liked to give his speeches in front of trees while his policies were as anti-environment as could be. Do I really care if his pickup gets better gas mileage than Kerry’s limo? Hardly.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Jeff says — “The fact that Kerry and Al Gore live more extravagant lives than you and I do hardly means they’re wrong about the need to phase out fossil fuels”.
No, it doesn’t mean they’re wrong. But it does give them great incentive to mislead people and use Government for their own self-interests.
Those people who would like to start removing the Propaganda Blinders, that Jeff and the other Liberal Progressives would prefer you to keep wearing, should pick up a copy of this book:

Jeff, what planet are you on today? Which wealthy woman that Lurch married, are you referring to? Kerry has a yacht because he married a wealthy woman? No stupid, Lurch tried to avoid paying taxes on his yacht by docking it in another state. News Flash – Lurch has never been right on any foreign policy. Fossil fuels? Was someone talking about fossil fuels? I thought I was talking about automobile safety. Al Gore? Was someone talking about Al Gore? W? Was someone talking about W? Better gas mileage? Was someone talking about better gas mileage? Go back to sleep Jeff!

        • Jeff

What the right wing is most afraid of is that Obama will do something intelligent in Syria. We will definitely NOT invade and occupy the country for 10 years a la W in Iraq. Maybe, just maybe, there’s something between spectating and invasion that can prevent a rogue government from slaughtering its citizens.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

So you’re okay with the US being the World’s Policemen, Jeff?
You’re okay with killing other people as long as they’re not US citizens?
I would think that since you are already a Liberal Progressive, who has Thief on his resume, you would not want to add Murderer to it.

          • Jeff

We kind of are whether we want to be or not. The question is are we going to do things intelligently or stupidly. The intelligent way is to establish alliances, in this case fronted by Arab nations so it can’t be portrayed as a reconquest by the West. Like it or not, as a world leader, we have an interest (beyond the humanitarian interest) in stability. The problem comes when our interest in stability trumps democratic movements all over the world in favor of dictatorships.
The world’s a complicated place and our simply throwing up our hands just won’t cut it. As the world’s leading power, we’re going to get drawn into these conflicts whether we like it or not. For example, what if an oil tanker heading for the U.S. gets sunk due to a regional conflict in the Middle East causing oil prices to spike? What politician interested in re-election isn’t going to react to that? Isn’t it better for us to dictate the manner in which we’re involved?
I’m certainly not advocating intervention like we did for decades following WWII in the name of countering the USSR. That had the effect of making every regional conflict in the world a part of our chess match with the Soviets. But there are times when great powers need to act – to prevent genocide, for example.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

As usual, Jeff, you are clutching for straws.

Jeff says — “But there are times when great powers need to act – to prevent genocide, for example”.
Yeah sure, Jeff, whatever you want to believe.
If that’s the case where was the US when the Rwandan Genocides were occurring? Their problem? They didn’t have anything our Leaders, and their Crony Capitalists, wanted.

          • Jeff

The fact that we often fall short does not change the basic premise that there are times when great powers are called upon to act and not only in their self interest. Bill Clinton’s greatest regret is his failure to act in Rwanda.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Oh please. You surely aren’t so gullible as to believe the smooth-talking Bill Clinton? Talk is cheap.
Regardless of whether he spoke hot-air or not, it is not the Government’s money to spend or lives to give when they “save” the world. And who saves the world from them?

          • Jeff

            CB:
When I first responded to your post, I saw only the first sentence. Now that I’ve seen the creepy, name-calling part, I have a further response. Let’s assume you know that a rogue government, say in Syria, is planning to kill hundreds of thousands of its citizens and has the capacity to do so. You also know that we have the ability to prevent that from happening. Are you not a murderer if you sit on your hands and do nothing?

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Let’s assume a Liberal Progressive gets some common sense and knows that Governments rarely tell their citizens what is really going on.
Of course that is a very unlikely assumption.
As it stands, Jeff, Russia claims that the deaths were committed by non-Government forces, and the US claims the opposite. The US also claimed that the attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise, and that the Tonkin Gulf incident was real, and that the Lusitania did not carry contraband, etc., etc., etc.

Jeff says — “Are you not a murderer if you sit on your hands and do nothing?”.
No, Jeff, you are not a murderer if you don’t stop somebody else from murdering. But you are a murderer if you participate in the killing of others whose guilt you just assume.

Imagine that, a Murderer and a Thief calling me a Creepy Bastard. You have some amazing powers of rationalization, Jeff.

          • Jeff

Unlike the Gulf of Tonkin non-incident, Pearl Harbor was real. How unexpected it was is subject to debate, but the attack was a declaration of war. What would you have done, Creepy Dave? You can claim innocence to all the horrors of the world because all you do is sit behind a computer and blog your silly theories.
But really, how can you claim to be anything but a Creepy Bastard when you call people thieves and murderers because they have a different view of things from yours?
Most people would view the question I asked a little differently, but not every one is quite as self absorbed as you are. In hindsight, most of us would like to think we would act to stop the Holocaust or the Rwandan Genocide or the Khmer Rouge. Maybe we’re kidding ourselves, but you seem to think it’s morally OK to sit back and say “it’s not my fault.”
As for the lies of Government, I’m well aware. I grew up during Viet Nam and knew the government was lying. I also knew Dick Cheney couldn’t be trusted, but plenty of people believe anything when told their personal safety is at stake. None of that means we can never do anything to alleviate suffering or prevent or lessen mass murder. Look at the evidence, listen to the critics as well as the government spokesmen, and make up your mind about what’s going on and whether there’s anything we can do. Or just take the Creepy approach, listen to Putin, and say “no skin off my nose.”

          • TheOriginalDaveH
          • TheOriginalDaveH

Jeff says — “But really, how can you claim to be anything but a Creepy Bastard when you call people thieves and murderers because they have a different view of things from yours?”.
Points of view don’t help themselves to other peoples’ money, Jeff. Points of view don’t kill other people, Jeff. But the Big Government, that you support, does.

          • TheOriginalDaveH

Jeff says — “Look at the evidence, listen to the critics as well as the government spokesmen,
and make up your mind about what’s going on and whether there’s anything we can
            do”.
And then, after you make up your mind, you can do like Jeff does — Spend other peoples’ lives and money.
Oh yeah, Jeff, you are noble — Just like the Feudal Lords of centuries past.

UN officials were already in Syria during the attack, not far from the location, so it doesn’t make sense that the Assad regime would order such an attack. Assad has agreed to allow UN inspectors to the site, so the investigation should be allowed to conclude if there was chemical weapons used or not, and then determine who used them, before all this saber rattling. The reports I’ve seen it doesn’t even seem to be a weapons grade since the doctors and those handling the bodies and injured haven’t shown signs of contamination. Who says it couldn’t be the ‘rebels’ trying to provoke intervention to their perceived benefit? Media conviction and mere allegations from John Kerry (amazing they replaced the Clinton idiot with another idiot) is not sufficient.

We’ve been ‘wanting’ to go into Syria ever since the dragon lady said Assad needs to go… and for what? To give the country to even more radical groups? Did we not learn anything from Libya and Egypt? Did we not learn anything from Iraq and Afghanistan? Or even Lebanon? We went into Iraq claiming WMD (which we probably gave him in the first place) and we invade that country on the same kind of appeal to pity fallacy, and yet hundreds of thousands more died as a result.

And what makes Obama think he can order a unilateral military strike, an act of war, on another country that has not attacked us, without at least going to Congress first? The use of chemical weapons is in the jurisdiction of international law, but even if it was found that Assad did use chemical weapons, and it would have to pass the Security Council (and Russia and China’s veto power) and it would STILL require an act from Congress first. Why are we even contemplating cruise missiles into Syria with trillion dollar debt already on that table from past imperialist ventures?

This country is so F’ed up.

Sectarian violence has existed for centuries in the region, and nothing anyone tries to do will change that, so Wake Up America, the only reason obama is moving war ships in the area is to save face over his stupid red line remark over a year ago. He is a coward, demonstrated it over and over, but now that his positive poll numbers are dropping off the cliff, he is backed into corner. Killing bin Laden didn’t change anything, and attacking Syria will do the same, nothing. Remember, these people live to die and become martors, so we have to let them die, sad as it is to civilized people, but that is the reality in the middle east, you cannot force freedom and democracy on muslims as we have seen over and over again. Egypt is the perfect example, where did democracy get them? Iraq, same issue, the sectarian divide still exists as it has for centuries, so we should stay out of middle east, PERIOD.

    • John

As I have read many times. Build a wall around the middle east. Thrown weapons and ammunition over the wall and let them kill each other. When it gets quiet, throw in more ammunition. When they have expended billions of rounds of ammunition you can take a peak and see if there is any life left. If so back up your truck and unload another billion rounds of ammo and leave. It will end eventually and then the middle east issue will be over. No more problem. Just a few bodies to burn and you have land to support millions of people without Muslims and the world will be forever grateful.

The left leaning newspapers and TV station quickly went to work hiring them. So since then we have a constant brainwashing machine going in the liberal media. The psychologist then set up the reprogramming so the violent reactions you get from the lefties is on full display.n The Soviet bloc propagandist have 70 years of information and experience to guide their work as to what works and what doesn’t. So brainwashing is in fact alive and well in the United States.

Ok, so I live in Canada and simply cannot understand how you guys articles are the same headings everyday or as long as you been publishing this-Obama this and Obama that. Is it because you want to miseducate the people or because you think that they are dub anyway. You criticise everything that would help the poor, although to be fair to you, if people are not smart enough to see that you guys are enjoying everything that you seem to be against, then more power to you. You have a good case for not going to war with Syria- I do agree with you. Something about this is too convenient and I do believe the rebels could be at the back of this, but America old never resist sticking their nose into other peoples business. If you guys would send McCain and the rest of these Republicans o the frontline, then I can assure there would be no war.
My point though is that you could make a good case for no going to war and other issues, and make credible arguments without the Obama aspects to them.
Otherwise it just becomes another article abut bashing him and not really caring about your country. Oh and by the way my remarks about America and war, Your president , cowboy Reagan bombed the heck out of my country in1983- one of the Caribbean smallest island. karma, are you a communist? Just askin.

To stop recieving these emails, you can un-subscribe from PLD at any time.

I’m not supporting what Reagan did in Grenada but It’s important to get the whole picture…Communism and The Cold War made it a different time in our history and many of us, I’m sure, have changed our positions as we’ve become better educated and more aware.

In your poor little country of Grenada, where then Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard, a Communist hard-liner backed by the Grenadian Army, had just deposed the socialist Prime Minister Maurice Bishop who was murdered six days later, and established military rule.

Reagan was concerned by the presence of Cuban construction workers and military personnel building a 10,000-foot airstrip on Grenada which was believed its purpose was to allow military transport planes loaded with arms from Cuba to be transferred to Central American insurgents.

There was heavy concern for the security of the 800 American medical students enrolled at St. George’s School of Medicine in the former British commonwealth. After the coup, there was violence and anarchy, and with martial law and a shoot-on-sight curfew in effect in Grenada, Reagan was joined by many of his advisers, as well as much of the American public, in believing that the rescue of the American students was justification for an invasion.

Other Caribbean leaders echoed Reagan’s own fear: that Grenada, with its socialist government and proximity to Cuba, could become a Communist beachhead in the Caribbean.

On October 25, 1983 1900 Army Rangers, U.S. Marines and 300 troops from seven nearby Caribbean nations invaded Grenada, where they encountered unexpectedly heavy antiaircraft fire and ground resistance by the Cuban soldiers and laborers building the controversial airstrip. In two days they subdued the air and ground forces.

Reagan’s credibility was bolstered by what the 5000(Pentagon figures)strong American invading force found on the island: a cache of weapons that could arm 10,000 men — automatic rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers, antiaircraft guns, howitzers, cannon, armored vehicles and coastal patrol boats. In all, out of 800 Cubans, 59 were killed, 25 were wounded, and the rest were returned to Havana upon surrender. Forty-five Grenadians died, and 337 were wounded. America also suffered casualties: 19 dead and 119 wounded. The medical students came home unharmed.

For Reagan, Grenada was an unmitigated success: a defeat of Communism and Castro, and a warning to the Marxist Sandinistas in Nicaragua.

source – PBS General Article: The Invasion of Grenada

      Justifying Grenada
      U.S. Invasion Grenada
      The Harvard Crimson
NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED October 31, 1983
      http://www.thecrimson.com/article/1983/10/31/justifying-grenada-pion-tuesday-october-25/
Eliot Cohen assistant professor of Government…everybody scoffed at the idea that the medical students were in danger. But they did feel in considerable danger. Three students came back saying things like. “It wasn’t an invasion. It was a rescue. “That’s one justification. I think it’s plain that most students felt themselves under serious threat. There was a 24-hour curfew, orders to shoot to kill, a government that just murdered a number of people in cold blood, they felt that that was enough of a justification.

It’s possible to conclude that Prime Minister Bishop was assassinated by the Cubans and the Soviets. They might not have envisioned Bishop being killed-Castro might not have wanted that-but there was certainly an arms buildup. The fact that there were clearly hundreds of tough Cuban combat troops makes a clear threat to the small democratic states in the Caribbean. There’s also a very strategic interest to us. Each individually would be reason enough to warrant what the Reagan Administration did.
      Together they certainly do?

What cool-aid did you drink?. History always has been and will always will be the facts of the individual doing the writing, eg Sir Francis Drake and Sir Henry Morgan? cut throat murderers who was knighted by the British queen. To get back to your points- the strip you talk about is today Pointe Saline international airport ,at no pinot at all in the fight(I was on the island) did the Cubans get involved in this fight- they were later found in an underground tunnel underneath what is today the airport, it is strongly believed that America is behind the assassination of Maurice Bishop- Bernard Coard put that challenge out there and others have endorsed it. The medical students was an excuse to get it, it was already part of the plan and just so you don’t get it twisted, I am not a communist but possibly I could have socialist tendencies I live in a social democracy and must confess that I very much admire the way Canada does the greatest job of multicultural integration. This is one o the very few countries in the word where people of every race , culture and creed can live side by side in relative harmony (no country can avoid hiccups but they try). Last of all , let me commend you on taking time to research your facts- I do not agree with them but I respect people trying to have an intelligent conversation, and you have displayed a lot of it. Now you that intelligence to tell your government to sped their money in America and stay out of the middle east- they will not effect any good changes there. Thanks for your conversation

        • Robert Messmer

Wow what a revelation the Communist that deposed the leader and then killed him accused the US as being behind the assassination. That’s a new one. Point of order wasn’t the airport renamed in 2009 as the Maurice Bishop Airport? Isn’t the date of the invasion now celebrated as Thanksgiving Day? I was in the US on 9/11 but that doesn’t mean that I know all about everything concerning the terrorist attacks. So you being on the island during the invasion, unless you were at the airport in the midst of the fighting have no idea rather the Cubans were or were not involved in any actual fighting. You failed to mention that the General Assembly of the UN overwhelmingly condemned the US for rescuing the students and restoring legitimate government. When President Reagan was asked how he felt about the vote, he stated that it didn’t upset his breakfast any.

karma says — “You criticise everything that would help the poor, although to be fair to you, if people are not smart enough to see that you guys are enjoying everything that you seem to be against, then more power to you”.
Actually, karma, since you are obviously Socialist, I would ask you why you want to keep the poor poor? Socialism is not only a logical failure (who is going to work hard for no reward?), but History has shown it to be an experiential failure wherever it has been fully implemented and thus cannot ride on the backs of Capitalists:
      http://www.freetheworld.com/
Yeah, a little bit of Socialism won’t kill the Golden Goose, but it will hobble it. Cutting off one finger won’t really impact you much either, as opposed to cutting off your whole hand, but does that make it desirable to cut off your finger?
The problem with you Socialists, karma, is that you put your emotional desires ahead of logical thought and experience.

      • karma

Just so you know I do not believe in keeping the poor, poor, I am an island girl and was raised to work hard for whatever I want and most of all to strive for a very good education(my country has a 96% literacy- you can check). I was also raised to understand that not everyone is going to be rich, have the same ability mentally, emotionally and physically and more importantly that sometimes we have to be our brothers keeper (check your bible). was not born dirt poor but I was not born rich and life has show me that it des not take much in life , to be in the same position as the people you feel contempt for , so be careful! I am sure you saw that in 2008 when the rich became the poor

karma rightly says — “but America old never resist sticking their nose into other peoples business”.
But then she later admits she leans Socialistic? Isn’t that sticking her nose into other people’s business?

We need to stay out of war with Syria. Neither side likes America. These are just a bunch of violent Muslims killing each other. If Obama would let the Keystone pipe line be built and oil company’s drill on government land we would never have to go to a Muslim country. We could keep our money in America.

True that! True that! Here is an article showing how Joe “Jelly Beans” Biden is misinterpreting the Constitution. But alas! No body from the left ever does.

BHR, does that “Money” include the money now being made by selling America’s gas abroad? You know, that gas we so “desperately” need that has become our number one export???

    • securityman

keeping our money in America is not on the obummer agenda. ii is proven that the Syrian rebels, back by obummer , is linked with alquida who are the sworn enimies of our country. so get ready people. we are going to war within our borders and it will be against the idiots and their puppets in Washington, d.c.

Ben I have been enjoying your expanded and well thought out posts recently, and I agree with your take on the impending world war of Syria. However since I am a volunteer veteran of the Korean War, I want to add another angle.

Did we win the Korean War, no. Even though we fought hard and many good men died, we lost it at the negotiation table by our ever incompetent international negotiators. Has anything been rectified since then, no. North Korea is now more dangerous and less able to control itself than ever. Not only that, but they have proven atomic weapons and the rockets to send them against some parts of the world, with their choice of place and time.

So what do we worry about? We worry about Iran may get atomic weapons some day, and they may get a delivery system some day. The chance to start an atomic war rests more on Korean known attitudes and capabilities then what the future of Iran may someday bring. So as you point out, we now start worrying about two other self proclaimed enemies of ours, using chemical weapons on each other.

Our Government, drawn from our international negotiators such as Kerry of State, and Executive Obama, claim this is not a false flag effort, but on their honor it is really is as they say it is. Where is Mrs. Clinton when we need a “So what’s the difference (to us)?” And we all know when the last time we were lied to, most of us can’t remember the last time we heard the truth from these folks.

No, this Government that is afraid to stop North Korea from threatening the world, bravely states that some local fighting in the Near East is worth starting a hot war over, with Russia, Iran and their friends taking up the other side. Just when we thought we survived the mutual extermination possibility of the cold war, we are going to take sides in none of our business, and take the chance to starting a mutually destructive hot war.

How much the MBH paid to the traitors: the Destroyer-in-Chief, holder, clintons, kerry, and who knows whom else, for promoting and pushing islamists’ agenda for Caliphate?

Here is something about Obama bin Laden paying money to our enemies in the Middle East.
