Watchdog Group Uncovers Documents Detailing Pelosi’s Exorbitant Expenditures On Military Aircraft

Watchdog group uncovers documents detailing Pelosi's exorbitant expenditures on military aircraftHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) used Air Force aircraft on 85 flights during a 16-month span, according to documents recently obtained by watchdog group Judicial Watch. Previous documents recovered by the organization reveal that Pelosi's Air Force travels allegedly cost more than $2.1 million over two years, including about $101,429 spent on in-flight expenses.

Judicial Watch, which investigates and prosecutes government corruption, has identified Air Force documents that allegedly show Pelosi accrued 206,264 miles on military aircraft from March 2009 to June 2010. Members of Pelosi's family are believed to have boarded at least two flights from Maryland to California.

Previous documents obtained by the group state that a Pelosi-led congressional delegation, flying from Washington, D.C., to Israel and to Iraq, purchased a variety of alcoholic beverages over a five-day span. The drink expenses apparently included Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, Maker's Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Beefeater gin, Corona beer and several bottles of wine.

"Pelosi's abusive use of military aircraft demonstrates a shocking lack of regard for the American taxpayer and the men and women who serve in the U.S. Air Force," said Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton. "Speaker Pelosi may have a frequent flyer record for taxpayer-financed luxury jet travel."

Pelosi is losing popularity within her own party, Politico.com reports. Three Democratic candidates for Congress signaled last week that they would not support Pelosi for speaker if their party maintains the majority in the House.

Roy Herron, who is running for a House seat in Tennessee, said that Pelosi's liberal agenda is "too extreme," the new provider reports.
