Watchdog Group Alleges Improper Relations Between Google And White House

January 26, 2011 by

Watchdog group alleges improper relations between Google and White HouseThe bipartisan nonprofit group Consumer Watchdog has urged Federal lawmakers to investigate the relationship between Google and President Barack Obama's administration.

Accompanied by a 32-page report called Lost in the Cloud: Google and the United States Government, Consumer Watchdog has issued a letter to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that details how the corporation has benefited from its close ties to Obama and his staff. For example, the group claims that NASA's Moffett Airfield, which is a taxpayer-subsidized airport, has become a personal launching pad for Google executives.

The report also alleges that Google CEO Eric Schmidt took a Moffett-originating flight to the Cannes Film Festival and other company execs have taken off to the Caribbean. However, the group claims that humanitarian groups have been denied access to the airport.

Furthermore, Consumer Watchdog has requested that legislators investigate the lack of Federal response to Google's breach of user privacy last year. The Website was embroiled in controversy after its Street View function collected personal information from users, such as email passwords and browsing habits. The Federal Trade Commission closed its investigation of Google in October and levied no fines, claiming that the Website had sufficiently addressed its problems.

Last week, Google announced that Schmidt will leave his CEO post in April but will remain executive chairman. Bloomberg reports that Schmidt, who will be succeeded by Website co-founder Larry Page, will receive an equity award package of $100 million. According to Google, Schmidt's new role will include several responsibilities, such as improving government relations.

I recall how surprised I was when I received a couple of emails from the White House in early 2009, especially since I had never written them. In fact I have never written to the White House but it reminded me of a thank you note I received on official White House stationary when my mom sent a piece I had written for the local paper complimenting President Eisenhower to them. Alas I was only a 15 year old student at the time and not smart enough to keep it.

Why is anyone surprised? Corruption is the name of the game everywhere nowadays and the worst is yet to come. But it will end when thieves fall out, which they always do.

  • Robin from Arcadia, IN

Nothing is a shock anymore. Especially with the current administration in charge. Really… what has happened to the United States? It’s not the same as when I was growing up. The corruption runs rampant.

    • s c

Robin, there is an old formula being used in this matter. It requires that an immoral, corrupt administration demand to be seen as having the ONLY moral compass. Hitler did it. Stalin did it. Mao did it. Nero did it. It’s not new, but it is still being used in this world.
Name a worthless ‘leader’ in history who tried the same technique and you’ll find the same result. Anyone who thinks this administration has any moral sense or has the nation’s moral compass has an interesting lesson in the works. Up the rebels!

s c – So true. Especially with the youth. Give them a sense of authority and purpose and you’ve got a formidable force.

The youth brigades are being trained as we speak. We are entering a brave new world…

There’s no shocker here, after all “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” has been repealed, right? We all suspected, and now we know that the vast majority of Obama staff members have been Googled at one time or another. Since DADT has been repealed expect to see them coming out of the cabinet/closet in droves. Just hope they have been practicing safe politics.

Uh Hum: All airports in America are subsidised by the federal govern ent and also commercial airliners.I guess all air travelers in America are having an improper relationship with their government.

MichaelJ: Poor Tom Delay is heading to a 10 by 12 cell without a closet to hide in.I knew he would get it in the end.

    • kate8

jopa – Interesting how those on the Left who commit REAL and much WORSE crimes get away with a slap on the wrist and maybe lose their committee seat, but get to keep their jobs.

With all the scandal that’s come out of this administration, the jail cells should be filling up. But they seem to be reserved for certain factions only.

Maybe we can reserve one for Rangel and Barney. They would like each other’s company. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        • bob wire

Don’t forget to invite poor ole Tom Delay ~ to your Pity Party or the ERON bunch.

There bunch of WALL Street Banks that need to be in Crow Bar Hotel today as well.

Any government these days is “Organized Crime in it’s purest form”. They are bigger and more adept than the Mafia.

    • kate8

Robert J. – Heck, they’re so good, the Mafia’s joined them.

      • bob wire

Guess you was away, ~ New York made a large sweep just last week.

There is a fine line between organized crime and disorganized crime.

Not everyone in jail should be there and not everyone out of jail should be.

Now you have to have a google account to use Youtube. So any comments, favorites or ratings of videos are right there for google to track easily.

I’m no longer using Youtube except to watch vidoes as a guest. I hope their ad sales tank.

  • s c

Let’s see. If Google and the White House are in bed together (a disgusting image), then what we know as the internet won’t exist much longer. What we see as private communications (via email) won’t last much longer. Uncle Scam’s power will increase, and our personal freedoms will decrease. And once again, this will be done in the name of SECURITY, PEACE and “LEADERSHIP.”
Some of you braindead, freedom-hating geekoids might as well admit that you’ve always hated freedom. While you’re at it, move to another country. And then, just so ‘the other side’ can claim the right to redistribute wealth (to help counter ‘wealth distribution’ since 1913), leave what you have here. Depart! Activate those passports, and haul your sorry arses outta here.

The head of this Medusa is not in Washington, the U.K., Belgium, West, VA or any place other than Hell. That’s why anybody who looks at this stuff thinking, “What I’m looking as is THE REALITY and I’m as much a force as they are.”, is going to be taken down and out with never a whimper shed. Either people get mad in the ways of Christ Jesus so God can bear His arm for us…or syonara U.S.A. The new class of Republicunzs on Capitulatel Hill are already playing, “what’s that toejammer tickle ‘tween my legs”, with Oblama-lama-ding-dong’s crotch lice cohorts.
How do I know? Well, didn’t Speaker Boner stand up and applaud some of the veiled threats the Liar-in-Chief uttered? Geez, there he was, sitting next to Dunaway’s favorite little old hand-puppet man, and couldn’t even figure a way to say, “You pervarikatir’!”, in a good bar-room slur. They just seem to me like they’re searching for ways to “get along”, play footsie with that – gag – hag Pelousey – eeyuk.
Talk about a way to get HIV – Human Intelligencedeficiency Villainesse. And, it’s terminal.
I hope they develop “slutophobia” fast, but I ain’t holdin’ my breath.

All I can say it that I am not surprised at anything that happens anymore.

When has Schmidt not been responsible for improving government relations? Those responsible for this monster and Google should be held accountable for their violation of and failure to uphold the Constitution and U.S. Code. How long will the American people tolerate the corrupt D.C. political machine to violate hard working, honest, Patriotic Americans?

  • ONTIME

If Eric holder the present AG will not allow investigation of the evidenced allegations concerning the legality of the man in the Oval Office to sit behind that desk, then why would he investigate this alleged matter of collusion between this adminstration and Google?

  • Angel of mercy

Two days ago I got a call from what seemed to be a salesman from Google. After talking to him for 30 seconds, I realized I was talking to an Iranian Muslim. He said he wanted me to be involved with changing my website and paying them $50 a month and they would put me ahead of everybody else on Google. This is not my company, it is my wife’s. My wife’s website is involved with artwork and praising the work of our soldiers. My wife has developed some new programs on growing certain types of fish. If I did business with this person, they wanted special info on what I was doing. Now remember, this is Google. What the hell are they doing?? Have the Muslims, Obama, George Soros, Valerie Jarrett and Andy Sterns taken over Google and put their soldiers there?? When you Google me, they can put any lie about a business or person and destroy everything they have done. Oh, we’re not oppressed!! How about a Muslim takeover!! There goes our innovation.
