The recent wave of scandals plaguing the initial months of President Barack Obama’s second term are making life tough for White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. Increasingly, the President’s talking head is facing tough questions from bulldog reporters, something Carney clearly hasn’t had a great deal of practice with.
Speaking today about the Internal Revenue Service’s systematic targeting of conservative groups for non-profit status in recent years, Carney told reporters, “I mean, nobody’s been more outraged by the reported conduct here than the President of the United States.”
ABC’s Jon Karl aptly points out: It seems the President is only outraged because the American public is now very aware of the IRS’s underhanded tactics, which there is mounting evidence he has long been aware of.
