Washington State Lawmakers Fight Federal Assault On Citizens

Washington State Lawmakers Fight Federal Assault On Citizens

The Tenth Amendment Center has championed a bill introduced by a group of Washington State legislators that condemns the unlawful detention of U.S. citizens and lawful resident aliens under the National Defense Authorization Act.

The bill, introduced by State Representatives Jason Overstreet (R-Blaine), Matt Shea (R- Spokane Valley), Vincent Buys (R-Lynden), Cary Condotta (R-East Wenatchee) and David Taylor (R-Moxee), is called the Washington State Preservation of Liberty Act (HB 2759). It prohibits “any State employee, member of the Washington National Guard or any agent of a corporation doing business with the State” to cooperate in the Federal detainment or investigation of a U.S. citizen or resident alien. Though the bill acknowledges the danger of terrorism, it concedes protecting Americans cannot come at the expense of their Constitutional rights:

It is indisputable that the threat of terrorism is real, and that the full force of appropriate, and constitutional, law must be used to defeat this threat. However, winning the war against terror cannot come at the great expense of eviscerating the unalienable rights recognized by and protected in the United States Constitution and the Constitution of the state of Washington. Indeed, undermining those constitutional rights serves only to concede to the terrorists’ demands of changing the fabric of what has made the United States of America a republic granting the greatest number of people the greatest amount of liberty, justice, security, opportunity, prosperity, happiness, peace, and good ever known or experienced by humankind throughout the history of the world.

The Tenth Amendment Center, a champion of States’ rights, is encouraging U.S. citizens throughout the country to ask their State legislators to introduce similar legislation to tie the hands of the Federal government.

From what changes I have seen, both in the US and abroad, the terrorists WON. Yeah, some of them died, but a lot of our freedom has died as well. We are now only a step or two away from being forced to carry a nationally approved ID card just to prove we exist, let alone have any rights. We aren’t required to show ID to cross state lines, yet, but the day is coming, in the not too far distant future unless we get not only the government, but the crybabies who are afraid of their own shadow, under some sort of control.

      CP, and everybody -
Truely this law is a wonderful aknowledgement of the written existence of all the freedoms given us in the Constitution.
However it can also be seen that if such a law has to be passed it is evidence of the peril confronting those rights. Consider also the matter that our beloved sovereign sees the Constitution as an impediment to his vision of the “rights” government should have. What if he arrogates to himself some version of the divine right of kings?
Think not? Then give me an explanatin for his continual sidestepng of the representatives we sent to the District of Columbia, who we can easily, by phone, emmail, facebook, etc. advise about our wishes and conduct of their reprepresentation?
Could that be quickly interrupted if the FCC, DHS, ATF or some power granted by him throuh a secret directive to one of his czars stifles the phones, internet, radio waves (ham operators), etc.? What would happen to the authority of state legislation if some sort of national emergency is declared. What sort of potential does the Occupy Main Street, with its liberal agitation base and support hold? They’ve already thrown a couple molotov cocktails, committed murder, rape, thievery, ifuriated the rat population in New York (maybe other cities). Maybe the rats are smarter than us law abiding citizens, especially when the laws seem to be selectively applied – and we let it pass.
      We’ll see what spring brings.

Depends on how you cross the state lines. In fact even to cross county lines you have to show a government approved ID.

If you take a commercial airline. Oh and you get to be radiated and or groped just for good measure.

TSA is soon to be at lots of other public places.

CP This has all been foretold and will not suprise anyone that is prepared with the knowledge of God’s plan for our salvation.

IDs will be required for travel, unless one is entering a ballot booth or the country illegally. Then you get a free pass.

You can’t fight this. This is bigger than any of us. We are all subject to the antics of the Comitee of 300. They’re going full speed ahead with their idea of turning whole world into a feudal system(communist) whether we like it or not, whether we protest or not. The best you can hope is to not give them the fuel they need. Money they have – it’s power they want, which you give them by having kids. But more importantly, they want to see you SUFFER. That’s why they give you things like freedom & choices, then take them away. This has been going on for hundreds of years, & it will keep going long after you’re gone. Do a child a favor by not having it.

Yes, we have a problem here. When I started driving, driver’s licenses didn’t have your picture on them. The only thing a driver’s license told was your age and the date when it had to be renewed. We also had more freedom back then (1950′s) than we do now. You could buy guns by mail order. I was buying cigarettes at the age of 16. Note that very few people were “fat” back then, mainly because most people smoked. So we might want to ask the question whether not swapping cigarettes for obesity was a good thing. Most likely not.

Dont get me wrong,Im with you friend but isn’t a drivers license a national ID. Please explain more.Im a little

These candidates that are running for president should’nt have a problem removing this language from the bill that Obama signed, right? I bet that either of them if elected would leave the bill “as-is”.Our freedoms are slowly being taken away by this mad man in office, and our represenatives in the senate and congress. The ones that need to go are Senators Carl Levin from Michigan, Dick Luger from Indiana, Snowe, Collins, Brown from Ma., Brown from Oh., John McCain from Az., Lindsey Grahm from S.C.,congressman Max Bachman, Oh wait, just clean house, and start over.

    • sancheleezy

Dr. Ron Paul would have no problem ridding us of this and other anti-Constitutional laws passed by this inept dictatorial group of lawmakers. The National Defense Authorization and Patriot Acts I and II need to be declared unconstitutional (which they are) and disposed of immediately. Anyone who is willing to trade their freedom and liberty for temporary security in any form deserves neither. Our Founder”s knew this well. This present scare tactic that our “masters” in Washington D.C. have produced, “the war on terror”, is totally contrived and can be thwarted within the Constitution without these dictatorial tactics.

      • eddie47d

Nicely said Sancheleezy. Another reason to vote for Ron Paul since no one in either party is willing to say no more in the loss of our Constitutional Rights.

All this crap has a good side though . We are just one step away from ” Teaching the bankers to use a shovel “. The only experience they have ever had along those lines is when they murdered their wife/mistress and buried them in the back yard .

  • Wil

Good.I disagree with Washington on several things(like afflicting the rest of the nation with Starsucks and Grunge),I support this.Hopefully the majority of states will follow their lead and Obama will, yet again, find himself fighting a losing battle.

It’s good to know that not everyone in every state has been brainwashed. Try as our wannabe masters may, they can’t rely on public non-education to dumb-down America.
They’ll have to resort to force, and that will be their undoing. While I can’t swear that the legendary ’57 states’ opinion from the White House proves that America’s political gene pool is sterile, it is obviously close to self-destructing.
Show us how it’s done, Washington. And tell the ‘other’ Washington to _____ themselves.

  • Mark Dabney

The terrists are those that LIED to us – I have lawfully demanded the evidence we were promised right after 9/11 that Bin Laden did it – Rep. Gingrey has yet to respond with ANY evidence to the certified letter delivered 6 April 2011 – our military “found” a video supposedly of bin Laden “confessing” to having carried out 9/11 AFTER we invaded Afghanistan

  • FWO21

Heck Mark Dabney, I’m still waiting for Obama to show the papers he was asked to show to prove he has a legal right to be in the White House since before he took office in 2008.

  • Dan Goebel

The Tenth Amendment was required as part of the original constitution before a number of States would even sign it because it was meant to make it clear that States would retain all powers not specifically listed in the Constitution. It is thus long overdue that State Legislatures took this out of control federal government to task. The list of federal government assumed powers that have never been authorized by the States is beyond belief. Washington State is on the right track here. However, the fight against “Terrorism” that they seem to acknowledge as rational is more of a case of “Blow back” from Terrorist acts committed in foreign countries by the military industrial complex. The military industrial complex feeds on war. These international banksters and Oil Companies use our military to create conflicts and then feed us propaganda through the media they control, and/or, own outright. Without an enemy to fight these evil Banksters that create fiat money out of thin air would not prosper, and would likely cease to exist. Research WTC Building #7 and you will find that this building was detonated after having been planted with high tech military explosives. So, why would the federal government lie about this and go to such great lengths to cover it up? Could it be that the military industrial complex has taken control of the federal government just as former 5 Star General and President, Eisenhower warned us in 1961 that it would if we did not stay vigilant? Reducing the size and scope of the federal government is one way to reduce the power that these evil manipulators have over us. My hat is off the Washington State!

  • AnneOnymous

It’s about time a State stood up against this abhorring law.. This is grass roots people, now it’s your turn.. Write to your State leaders and demand they stand behind Washington State on this matter. (at least there’s a few sane politicians on our side).

  • Dawson Lodge

“It is indisputable that the threat of terrorism is real”

Rubbish ! The threat primarily comes from false flag operations
conducted by traitors within US intelligence agencies, as an
excuse to expand the US Fascist State. What real terrorism exists
could be stopped by withdrawing support from dictators and by
getting the hell out of foreign countries.
