Under Republican Criticism, Democrats Torn On Healthcare Bill

November 30, 2009 by

Under Republican criticism, Democrats torn on healthcare bill After failing to block the debate on the Senate healthcare reform legislation, the Republicans have singled out three Democrats who they say betrayed their principles and electoral pledges by voting to break the filibuster.

The moderate Democrats who all expressed reservations about the bill but ultimately voted in favor of debate were Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Ben Nelson of Nebraska.

In particular, Nelson has gone on record as telling ABC’s This Week, "I don’t want a big-government, Washington-run operation that undermines the private insurance that 200 million Americans now have," according to media reports.

This prompted Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele to issue a statement following last weekend’s vote accusing the lawmakers in question of "[sacrificing] their principles to bring America dangerously closer to government-run health care."

Steele summed up their affirmative vote by saying, "Nelson sold out his conscience and voted in favor of federally funded abortions. Lincoln sold out her principles by voting in favor of a government-run insurance plan, something she previously said she opposed. And Landrieu simply sold her vote to the highest bidder after Harry Reid added a $300 million earmark just for Louisiana."

The Senate voted 60-39 on Saturday to break the Republican filibuster, and the bill is expected to move to the floor for debate after Thanksgiving.

These three Dems SHOULD lose their seats as they have abandoned their principles in favor of perks and pork!!!

    • Herbert Levinson

It’s evident that these three democrats didn’t abandon their principles. They voted for America.
Steele, on the other hand being a loyal republican miscreant is really the culprit, as the phonics of his name suggests.

Wasn’t it the Republicans who got us into this mess in the first place. Don’t they always vote against the welfare of the people.
Doesen’t the Constution proclaim. “Promote The General Welfare”?

      • Geanine Hodges

Really. Bush all by himself, with a democratic congress? And Clinton is so praised by liberals….with his Republican Congress. Figure that out. We will see more clearly when this all plays out, unfortunately

        • Claire

Geanine: Who was your favorite President?

      • cr747

Herbert, I think your IQ is that of the other idiot’s we have in congress, and yes the president to. I myself am a democrat, “sorry to say,” but you can bet your sweet arse I didn’t vote for the Muslim president. I will do everything in my power to vote out all the cronies in congress that votes for this plan. Why don’t they except the plan they are trying to push on the American people? Because they think the American people will put them back in office? If so, they are idiotic morons like you!!!!!!!!!!

        • Claire

I don’t believe Herbert called you any names. Remember, we all have freedom of speech. I speak my mind, you speak yours and there really is no need for name-calling. You would be mad as heck if I called you a name.

          • cr747

Claire, did I just see below in a couple of your comments where you called someone a filthy jerk, and someone a filthy crooked governor?

          • Claire

cr747—you got me. Yes, I called the Illinois governors filthy jerks. I know, I should practice what I preach. I just could not help myself.

          • cr747

Claire, I completely understand, I to say a lot of things that I am sorry for afterwords. Thanks for a Loving God who will always forgive. I have always said,”GOD IS MY CO-PILOT,” and I thank him many times a day for always being there for me. I have always said that, GOD IS MY COMMANDER AND CHIEF,” always has been, and always will be.!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • denniso

cr….You talk like you believe in God. Do you also profess to follow Jesus? You call people names and sound full of hate…not very Christian like.

          • cr747

denniso, you may be right, but yes I do follow Jesus. Without Him I would be nothing. I am prayer coordinator at my church, also head of security, and also do a lot of visiting for lost souls. I don’t claim to be perfect. Can’t think of but ONE person that was perfect That was my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When I came home from Vietnam, after 22 years of service, and was treated like all other Nam. vets were treated, It was hard for me to fit back into society. Occasionally I go back to those times and I get a little disturbed. I think if you would go back up to the comment that I made to Clair on Dec. 1 at 8:17PM you will see where I often say things that I am sorry for later. I was a fighter pilot in Nam, and at times wake up seeing women and children being abandoned, killed, some with body parts missing. Believe me it was pure hell. If I offended anyone, and I’m sure I did, PLEASE FORGIVE ME. If you can’t then that’s ok, I know my GOD and SAVIOR has.!!!!!!!!!!

          • Joe H.

            Cr747,
I know what you mean. I was a door gunner and crewchief. I’ve seen the results of the 2.75 rockets on a group of cong and it ain’t pretty. I do remember you guys dropping the 500 pounders real well, my bunk would “dance” across the floor!!!! Welcome back brother!!!!

          • cr747

Joe H, Sorry you had to go through what you experienced in Vietnam. No one knows, unless they were there. I’M sure you probably wake up, or have night sweats like most I see that was there.
GOD bless you for serving your country. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Tim Coggins

The Consitution does say, “Promote the Welfare”. It does not say, “Provide the Welfare”. There is a vast difference and that difference is between freedom and democracy and totaleriasm and socialism.

        • denniso

The constitution says,’promote the general welfare’. Like much of the writing, that can be interpreted more than one way. Welfare back then meant ‘good’…there was not the modern definition of giving to the poor. But, why can’t ‘promote the general welfare’ mean using $$ to help all of society? Of course it can, and in the instance of health care costs bankrupting millions of americans every year, isn’t it obvious that doesn’t contribute to the general welfare??

      • s c

Thanks for coming to the audition, Herb. However, we already have more than enough Al Franken wannabes in the crowd, and your ‘humor’ doesn’t meet the minimum requiremets. I’m no great fan of Steele, but at least he can read and understand the Constitution without using social engineering approaches to government.
Sitdown comedy should be left to those who have a sense of humor and don’t patronize those who learned long ago how to recognize the differences between spit and shinola (or lightning and a lightning bug, or a public servant and a saul alinsky-trained career criminal).
        Next!

        • Joe H.

Let’s not forget denniso in that audition!!!!

        • Joe H.

          dennisobber,
If you want to give your money to the poor to promote their welfare be my guest, I already do of free will!! I object to the government trying to force me to!!!

      • Jana

Herbert, They are also supposed to vote the will of the people. The will of the people is for insurance reform, but not government run insurance.

      • Steeplejack

You really have to study American history and the meaning of “Promote the General Welfare” as stated in the Constitution. It does not mean government run everything!

    • Claire

And be sure to include all the others, too.

  • Bob

Lets not forget Evan Bayh, who was against the bill before he was for it, thanks to a thinly veiled threat by Rachel Maddow on her TV show. This man does not represent Indiana – a consummately conservative state – with an ACU rating (http://www.acuratings.org/2008all.htm#IN) of 10% this year (and 20% life rating, showing he has acquired Potomac Fever), and needs to be replaced. His votes do not match his hometown publicity, which is unfortunate. Hoosiers need accurate representation.

    • denniso

WOW!! Rachel Maddow has that much power?? Here I thought she was just another lousy, wimpy, liberal who couldn’t fight her way out of a paper bag.

      • Claire

Denniso—you are beginning to sound frustrated. Have patience. Things will work out the way they are supposed to.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
and how is that? With the status quo still in power screwing up worse and worse? If that is the “perfect picture” you envision for the U.S. then you must be tripping on something!!! Sorry but I have a habit of calling em’ as I see em’!!!

          • Claire

JoeH–its like playing dice. Things will fall where they will, and who knows–We may have an Independent, Libertarian or whatever for a President. Politics is a crap shoot. We won’t know until election time. Things do work out the way they will. If it is wrong, then we deal with it. It is called the facts of life.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
Well please excuse me if I try to do all I can to change the status quo!!!!

        • Joe H.

          dennisob,
YOU are the people that say Beck should be taken off the air because he has too much influence on the voters. Maddow can’t influence one man?

  • http://BobLivingston Bob K.

I believe we do not representatives of the people in our government. If we don’t find a way to enact term limits, we will continue with this potomac corruption. We may have to have a revolution(peaceably) to get back to our constitution. All branches of our government have been engaged in unconstitutional activity for decades.

    • Joe H.

      Bob K,
The only safe way to enact term limits in this day and time is by the vote. If you try to pass legislation to that effect, it takes an act of congress and that opens all sorts of other doors you might not want opened. Like a non-born citizen can become president. That is what a group was trying when they ran the terminator for gov. in Cal. So we have to be real careful what we do and how we do it!!!

    • Geanine Hodges

Amen to that. Even the President is only in for 8 years max.

  • grover bailey

These three senators simply sold out their people for money. They are no better than the imposter in the white house. He is frankly a muslim who wants to destroy our country, and they are helpng him do it.

    • denniso

G B…you don’t remember your repubs marching in lockstep for the past 8 yrs w/your good buddy and war criminal Bush/Cheny??They have a long history of following blindly like sheep, while the dems usually fight and quibble among themselves and bail out on their prez. All their doing now is staying a little more loyal to their party and leader in opposition to a repub party that has gone way off the tracks into a fundamentalist wacko oblivion…I don’t mind that though because they ensure they will continue to turn off most moderate voters.
OBAMA IS NOT A MUSLIM!! BUT, even if he were, aren’t we supposed to have freedom of religion in this country?? Oh, I see, that part of your constitution doesn’t apply to certain religions??

      • Geanine Hodges

From what I see, there is Freedom to all religions, safe Christian. Can’t say Merry Christmas, Pray in public, have the 10 commandments in public, etc, etc, etc. The basic foundation of this country is crumbling.

        • Claire

Geanine—this happenened because we allowed it. We should have had marches, sit-ins, we should have gone the whole 9 yards and raised hell but we didn’t. We let it go.

          • Jana

Well Claire, it is now time to stand up and take it back.

          • Claire

Jana–let’s go for it! We would have to organize a gigantic march on DC. We will have to really raise hell. I can start something here. I did sign petitions years ago, but it didn’t do any good. We need to have it on a ballot. But I’m afraid they would come up with all kinds of excuses–too many diverse religions. What do you think?

          • Jana

Denniso our Constitution applies to all religions, but Islam is more than a religion, it is also a political system.

      • http://PersonalLiberty.com Danny Boy

Denniso, Im sorry to see that after 8 years you still belive that president Bush is A war monger. We didnt start it, but under president Bush it didnt happen again, until the fort Hood attack , when a muslim murdered our service men & women. I wonder what country would take a crum like you and let you freely denegrate it. God bless America

        • Jana

Also, when Pres. Bush went to see the wounded soldiers after the Ft Hood Terrorist attack, he did it the very next day. He spent time talking to those soldiers and their families. He shook their hands and spent about 15 minutes a piece with each one with no photo op either.

When Obama went to talk to the soldiers he had his men go in first and let the wounded soldiers know that they were not to reach out and shake Obama’s hand unless he reached out first, and they were not to talk to him unless he spoke to them. One of the soldiers was saying that Obama just basically walked through.

Obama appears cold to the soldiers under his command.

          • Claire

Jana–you’ve got to be kidding. I did not read or hear this about Obama’s trip to Ft. Hood. My God.

        • denniso

D B….No, I believe that Bush/Cheny are both utter cowards and should be tried for war crimes. They lied and sent thousands off to Iraq to be killed and maimed unnecessarily. So, no, he’s not just a war monger.

      • Joe H.

denniso, the only reason the libs weren’t walking in lockstep with your hero Clintoon is he wouldn’t let them behind the desk!!!! OR UNDER!!!

        • denniso

Boy, that is funny..you should be a stand up comic.

          • Joe H.

            dennisob,
yeah almost as funny as your 4:41 post!!!

    • http://comcast jow

I have to agree with you. We do not have any representatives who are supporting the citizens of this nation. I listened to Harry Reid last week who was bragging by how the dems all hung in there togother. Great. Are they representing the citizens who put them in office or Harry Reid? Apparently, Harry Reid.

      • Jana

jow, several years back I was a Democrat. But the party went a different way so I left them. They went a swingin as the song says, but they swung to the left and I stayed where I was and then the Republicans came over to where I was.

Now, the Republicans are even swingin to the left.

        I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!

  • Darrell

There seems to be a higher calling that compels these politicians to do the things they do, Republican or Democrat. The office is for self service and self enrichment, the special interest are running this country and WE THE PEOPLE have to get it back or we will be the indentured servants.
There is a political wind blowing and I am not sure if it is just a wind or a hurricane. The grass roots movement taking place in this country is one of the best things that could happen in this country but beware, the two parties Dem. & Rep. are going to try to gain political capitol out of this movement to get reelected.
There needs to be a contract drawn up for all these politicians to swear to if elected to office ie.
I- Only to hold office for a predetermined time (term limits)
II- Forgo all collaboration with special interest and lobbyist
III- Get back to the fundamentals of the founding fathers and our Constitution.
IV- If there is legislation passed then all will abide buy such legislation ie. (health care reform) the congress has insulated them selves from this legislation if passed, what is good for the goose is good for the gander.
I am sure there are other ideas out there and can or could be added to make a final document. But all of you get the idea. We need to take OUR COUNTRY BACK, and do it very soon while we still have a shell.

    • s c

When it comes to politicians, they are answering a LOWER calling. It’s never a ‘higher’ calling (this congress and this administration prove that).
People must consider what it really involves when they talk about term limits. When what you say doesn’t match what you mean, you let politicians control you.
What do you think would happen if we had to endure comrade obama for 12 years? The nation must have had a collective brain fart when it found reasons to keep FDR around for that long. We’re still paying for that insanity.
The ONLY way we can try and make politicians accountable is to deny them consecutive terms. Term limits keeps door open for politicians to continue to control the American people. I know what it is to be frustrated by the incompetents and degenerates who are career politicians. PLEASE don’t make it easy for them. As long as they think we work for them, we are screwed. That is a historical fact.

      • Joe H.

        s c,
Check out my post to Bob K. above. We gotta’ be real careful how we enact term limits. Legislation is not the answer, the vote is. Legislation must pass congress and the way they like to tack on we could be opening a real can of worms!!!

      • denniso

s c….you guys really need my help!! I know that this thinking thing is new for you, but try please. If all congress people knew they wouldn’t face voters wrath in a 2nd or 3rd election then they would have NO reason to do what voters may want. Your childish push for term limits, one way or another, would free them up to do exactly what they like w/ no accountability to the voters. Study some basic political science before you futilely try to,once again, launch a term limits movement. You’re welcome!

        • Dennis

          denniso,
Are you wearing a blindfold or suffering from a total detachment from reality? The liberal members of Congress do what they feel like right now because they don’t fear the wrath of the voters. They are all well healed financially, supported by lobyists and rich supporters outside their Districts, and pushed by the elite liberal media. Our only recourse is to vote them all out of office in the next election.

          • Joe H.

            Dennis,
He’s suffering from a terminal case of BDS!!!

        • Jana

Yes, denniso I am sure we really really need your help.
I will call you, don’t call me.

          • Joe H.

            Jana,
The only one that needs denniso’s help is the sanitary dept if you get my drift!!!

      • Jana

Darrel, their higher calling is called JOB SECURITY. They are too worried about that and their ‘good ole boys club’ that they all belong too. They get up there on Capital Hill and forget what real life is all about as they are insulated. So I agree 100% with you on your terms for our elected officials.

    • Geanine Hodges

We need more with that attitude RUNNING our country. Well said!

      • s c

Geanine, you’re on the right track. Frankly, it doesn’t make any sense to waste so much money on elections when we could draw from a master list of ‘volunteers’ who would go to Washington to do what the major parties will never get right.
Those who are put on a short list should be bound by legal contracts. When they screw up, they should be fired immediately, and a replacement sent to Washington in 24 hours or less. Both parties rely on yes-pukers to tow the party line, take up space and fit in, and then concentrate on getting re-elected. Doing the job for the American people is lost in the shuffle.
We need people who refuse to be part of the DC country club.
How are they entitled to so many undeserved perks and outrageous salaries? Competitive bidding couldn’t hurt. Just about ANYBODY could do better than most of the morons who infest Congress (on either side of the aisle). It would greatly improve matters if we knew our reps could READ and UNDERSTAND the Constitution and the English language.

        • Claire

They should take a cut in pay. they shuold have alesser quality insurance. Then they would find out what the world is like.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
You have a good start!! they should have to live on what ever bill they pass for a year before anybody else does. I bet then they would think REAL HARD before they pass any bull!!!

  • Wyatt Earp

Democrats sold out their “consciences” and “principles” to the “highest bidder.” Well GOLLLLLLY!!!

Earth to Michael Steele and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops: That’s what Democrats do!!!! Dah!!! And you laugh at Charlie Brown for allowing Lucy to trick him, yet again, into trying to kick the football as she pulls it away. The jokes on Steele, the USCCB, and everyone who follows their lead.

    • denniso

Do none of you geniuses think we need healthcare reform in this country w/ the highest number of uninsured and the highest cost of any developed country in the world? Some of you are correct in pointing out that giant corporations control too much of our gov’t and therefore too much of our lives. Then, you turn around and do your work as pawns/slaves for those very corporations that are trying to defeat any real reform in the bloated system that delivers huge profits and multi million $$ salaries to the top dogs in the healthcare industry. TALK ABOUT SHEEP AND FOOLS BEING LEAD BY THEIR NOSE TO WORK AGAINST THEIR OWN SELF INTEREST!!!

      • http://comcast jow

Hey. Do you have any idea about this Obamacare. You are for putting people in jail for not buying health care, a possible $25,000 fine if you fall into a certain govt. set of rules, young people who are healthy and do not feel they need to buy insurance, etc. We are still not going to cover over 17,000,000 people. You need to read this bill before you are ready to listen to this administration. This is a bill to control your life more than to provide health insurance. If it was to cover your health needs, it wouldn’t have 2000 plus pages of thou shall which means if you don’t you will be fined or go to jail. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to get the msg. of this bill unless you can’t read.

      • Dennis

        denniso,
Where the hec do you get your such openly false facts? The highest number of uninsured and HC cost in all of the developed nations of the world…I think not!! Just another unsubstantiated piece of hogwash put out there for the sake of shock. I dare you to go and live in any other developed nation around the world and get sick.
Maybe Germany, England, Canada, Mexico, Japan, China. Checked into any of these HC coverages lately? You’d be shocked at their costs and coverage omissions.!!

        • Joe H.

          Dennis,
Yes, Take England where they have just announced you can buy insurance so you don’t have to wait so long or get inferior care!!!

          • Claire

Joe H—My husband ended up with a permanent colostony because of the eneptness of an Emergency Room. I had called an ambulance, they got him to the hospital. It took 3 hours for the doctor on duty to see him and they were NOT busy. I raised hell, finally a doctor came in, they said my husband was constipated. He was in a lot of pain. They finally gave him the liquid to drink so they could do an xray. Well, the filthy jerk that read the xray did NOT catch the perforated colon. Finally, at 5:00 am. they put him in a room. At 11:30 a.m. a gastroenterologist finally came to see him, read the xray and found the perforated colon. At 7:30 that NIGHT (a full day later) they did surgery but it was too late. He was full of peritonitis and had to have a colostomy, he almost died. Sometimes the quality of care her in the U.S. is not as good as we think. Some people do not do a good job and if they don’t do a good job, who suffers? The patient. The point is we get lousy care here, too.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
I am sorry for your husbands horror I have been the victim of unscrupulous Dr.s before as well. It’s on one of the posts I posteed today on a thread. Go to England, where the aged are given sedatives if they are in the hospital to mask any improvement and let die!!! This is on purpose not by accident, carelessness, or any shortcoming! Or that they routinely practice “stacking” which is the practice of leaving the people in the ambulance till they are ready to see them to be able to say the wait in the emergency rooms are shorter!!! Isn’t that just great treatment?

          • Claire

JoeH—you want to really know how I got the doctor to see my husband in Emergency that night? I screamed at the nurse that if I ever became ill I wanted to go to the Small Animal Clinic at the Univ. of Illinois. We had to take one of our old dogs there and when we arrived, 4 Vets came out with a guerney and took that old dog and diagnosed him in less than 30 minutes. A dog can’t tell you where they hurt. Anyway this nurse got mad as heck and she told me that I would have to leave if I did not quit saying things but she got the doctor. I have never been so upset in my life.
Another thing that makes me furious is the care the Veterans have recived at the Marion, IL Veterans Hospital. They have been in trouble. It is appalling. It makes me so mad I could scream. Our troops do everything for our freedom and way of life and our government does not, will not take care of them. Our filthy crooked governors have made the state of Illinois into a stinking hole.

          • Jana

Wow Clair, I am so glad you were there with your husband. Just think what would have happened had you not been there.

There has never been a time when I left any member of my family, or my health care totally up to the Dr. I have always felt it was up to each one of us to be proactive in our own health, as well as being proactive for my family.

Fortunately your husbands misfortune is not standard in the United States. We always have the bad Dr. around but for the most part we do have those who care in the medical profession. If we resort to the Health Care Bill that the government has to offer, the type of care your husband got will become the norm. We don’t want that.

We do need Insurance Reform, but not government run insurance.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
I have been meaning to answer you on this and seemed to pass over it every time. I took my son to 4 different Drs as I could walk up behind him real quiet and clap my hands and he wouldn’t flinch. All 4 told me don’t worry nothing’s wrong. One did go as far as to say he had a very mild ear infection. I got pi…. off and took him to a specialist on my dime and the man said he wanted the kid in the hospital yesterday!!! He had a massive ear infection and when the dr made the incision to put in the tubes he said it was like lancing a boil, it spurted on him!!! he said it was like the kid was under 6ft of water trying to hear people!! Hetold me if I had waited another day or two the drums would have perforated!! Now ther is what I was saying before. Not all Drs in the U.S. are as bad as the one you were dealing with for your husband. I credit Dr Carter of Rainbow babies clinic in Cleveland with saving my sons hearing!!! I believe there are a lot more good than bad!!!

        • denniso

OK…look it up! We have the highest healthcare costs and the most uninsured people in the world.
Now, I’m not at all happy that any plan discussed involves forcing everyone to buy insurance..that was put in to appease the giant ins companies so they would go along w/ including everyone and do away w/ the pre existing condition loophole that they have used to exclude people.
The fines will be moderate for not buying ins, but I still don’t like it. This plan is maybe the only one that could get through, because of the lobbyists.

          • Joe H.

            denniso,
Since when is a 20,000 fine moderate? Are you truly out of your mind?!?!? for your sake I hope O-man doesn’t make any quick stops!!! you are going to need the services of a good proctologist!!!

          • Jana

denniso, you say we have the highest healthcare costs and the most uninsured people in the world, well if you will look around us, most of those are the illegals that are here in this country uhh illegally.

          • Claire

            Denniso–Jana is right.
We are paying for the illegals. It is not fair. They are in this country illegally, and our government does not have the brains to round them all up and get them out of here. Back in World War II they rounded up all the Japanese and held them in camps within the U.S. Our government should do the exact same thing, only send them back to Mexico and protect our borders with troops if necessary. Then maybe our insurance costs wouldn’t be so high. We as taxpayers are paying for their keep while quite a number of our legal citizens are suffering over this mess.

          • denniso

Most illegals don’t get medical care ever. It usually only happens if it is an emergency and they have no choice. They try to stay hidden from authorities, why would they go to a hospital unless they have to? Almost all of them contribute to our system by paying taxes..at the very least they pay sales tax on every thing they buy.
Aren’t most of you here christians? What would Jesus say about this general hate directed toward illegals? Aren’t they humans? All you’re all worried about is the money it may cost you. So, they break the law when they come here..does that turn them into dogs, or less? All of you break the law everyday when you, like most americans, speed in your cars and put other people’s lives in danger. Should you be treated like scum for breaking the law?

          • Joe H.

            denniso,
I suggest you come to Cleveland and check out Metro hospital. Especially now. The ER is always full of hispanics. I was there with a friend of mine who spoke spanish who over heard seven different ones in there for colds and fever talking quietly about not getting caught. I personally heard one lady mention not having a green card. That’s just one day!!!! The hospital in painesville was the same way. The city has been declared a sanctuary city and the city looks like CRAP!!! I know a great many chicanos I went to school with and worked right along side them in the fields as a kid. All of them used to talk about the “wet backs”,as THEY called them making them look bad as people looked at them like they were illegal. They were very good people and I was proud to call them friend. Some of them even came to my dads funeral. but friends with these illegals that are sucking the economy dry? Never!

          • Joe H.

            dennisobber,
I have 40+ years without a speeding ticket or even a fender bender. Haven’t even had a parking ticket. It’s not hard, you just don’t break the law!!!

    • Claire

Steele tried to act like a rapper when he took the job as Chairman of the GOP. He came across as silly. He finally changed his way of talking but he still is inept. The Republicans are a party of “NO” and they will never accomplish any good. The best thing Bush did was to give help to the AIDS victims in Africa.

      • denniso

Claire…you’re right, Bush did help aids victims in Africa. He wanted to polish his terrible legacy. He did nothing else to help anyone, except the ultra rich.

        • Claire

Denniso–I don’t care if he did it for his own political gain or not–it was and is a good thing that Bush did this for AIDS in Africa.

          • eyeswideopen

Claire, yes it was, however, I would have prefered that he gave our troops vests that actually stopped bullets.

          • Joe H.

Claire, Ask denniso about the nato troops under Kofie Annon Who raped and murdered women and children in Africa. His hero Clintoon said What a fine man he was!!!!

  • David Sunkle

Yes,I agree. We need to take our COUNTRY back. The Whole Politican Spectrum has become so self Serving and Arrigent towards the American People. They can not see or hear us. They are so Insulated they can not see. They are only seeing their own Self Enrichment.Yes; Term Lmits are needed. No Colaberation With Special InterestGroups. They should haveto Partake in the Same Health Care Reform; That “THEY” are Cramming down our Throats. Now is the time to “REPLACE ALL POLITICANS” in Washington. WE are not a bunch of Radicals or Un-Amercan’s. WE can see the Mass Distruction of our Nation happening.

    • Joe H.

      David,
do term limits by the vote, not legislation!!! Congress will screw us good if we go for a bill to limit the number of terms a politician can serve. Remember when Bush wanted to pass a spending bill to support the troops in Iraq? The Dems tacked so much pork and other things on that Bush had to VETO the bill and then they turned around and accused Bush of not supporting the troops. Don’t push for legislation, push for the VOTE!!! That sends a warning to them that if they don’t represent the people, they don’t have a job!!! If we get true conservatives in, why get rid of them?

      • denniso

Joe H…see my post at 9:40a.m. It’s really not rocket science so I think you guys might be able to follow the reasoning, if you keep control of your ranting selves.

        • Joe H.

          denniso,
yup let’s just let the liberal and RINO nut jobs just tear the constitution up and throw it out the door. You would like that wouldn’t you?!?!?! You know, I’ve already answered you under your alter ego of Eyes so as W.C. Fields would say,” Go away kid you bother me”!!!!

          • s c

Like all progressive ultraliberals, up is down, left is right, black is white and bad is good. Some people go out of their way to stay on their knees and brown-nose wannabe Stalins. When push comes to shove, progressive ultraliberals run from reality like rats jumping off a sinking ship. It’s their heritage.
If you want a challenge, ask that yahoo if there are ANY people in this temporary administration who should be elsewhere (czars, tax dodgers, communists, perverts, incompetents, etc.). That assumes that he understands the question.
I’m betting he’ll tell you this is the best administration we ever had. He might even tell you that comrade obama should be prez for life. There’s an outside chance that he knows about saul alinsky’s impact on comrade obama (and how America will pay for it). Whether or not he can understand the true significance of alinsky’s writings is another matter. To a typical progressive ultraliberal, too much reality is like strong sunlight to a bat (or pelosi, schumer, frank, waxman, leahy and so many other progressive, ultraliberal mental ‘giants’).

      • Geanine Hodges

There should be NO PORK in any bill. The bill should only represent it’s cause and none other. This is all stupidity and the congresspersons use it to benefit themselves at our expense. Time to get a new line up

        • Claire

Geanine—I agree, there should be no pork in any bill but there always is. Either the Democrats want it or the Republicans. It will always be this way. Especially with a “party” system. They need the donations for their campaigns. That is all they think about, not we Americans.

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
You are right. You know, I’ve always wondered how Leiberman has stuck around Washington with all the pork that gets slung around, you know being the good kosher person he is!!!!!

      • Michael J.

Joe H, This administration is dug in like an Alabama tick (thank you Jessie Ventura). With contengency plans for everything, they fear nothing. They plan to dump just enough of the as of yet unspent stimulous money into the economy prior to the 2010 midterm elections to cause a slight uptick in the economy which will re-ignite and re-elect their crooked cronies. And if the public sees through this plan by 2012 they might conjure up a national security crisis which will allow them to enact martial law and suspend voting rights. Janet Napolitano has been setting the stage for the latter scenario. If you have been paying attention, you might have noticed. So you see, they are not relying on votes to sustain them. That’s old school. I’m afraid you can’t play by the rules with those who do not play by the rules. Figure it out.

        • Joe H.

          Michael J.
then what EXACTLY is your answer? Put it into words and support your comment!!! Sure they’re dug in and he MIGHT declare martial law, MIGHT!!! You want to take that chance? You want to take the chance that legislation that would have to go through congress and would pick up riders wouldn’t open the door to non-Americans being to LEGALLY become president? Do you really think the military would follow a declaration of martial law just to keep these a$$holes in office? If you do you are deluded!!!!

          • Michael J.

Joe H, I did not advocate term limits. Re-read my post and you will see that. I’m saying that they will not be voted out either. Both ideas are like shooting a freight train with a bee-bee gun. It will have no effect. So you tell me, what is the next viable option?

          • Joe H.

I say again….Do you honestly think the American troops would follow a declaration of martial law just to keep this pin head in office? I am a Viet Nam vet and I know most of the guys I knew wouldn’t have to keep nixon in office!!! This guy has hung the very troops you mention out to dry in Afghanistan for what, 4 months or longer on a request for more troops? How many of their buddies died during that time? Give me a break!!!

          • denniso

WHAT DELUSION!!!There were people on the left who thought Bush would declare martial law and then cancel elections…it didn’t happen and it won’t happen under Obama unless we have a real national crisis.
You think Obama has hung the troops out to dry??? What did Bush do for 7 yrs? How many died because he started another war in Iraq and let Afghanistan simmer and not finish it?? Obama is trying to come up w/ a way to complete what your tough guys Bush/Cheny failed miserably at. Obama spent 3 months deliberating the issue..the war there is still proceeding as it was, except Obama already put in another 30,000 or so soldiers earlier..something Bush wouldn’t do. You guys want to help…volunteer for something productive. You’ve lost your bearings!!

          • Joe H.

            Denniso,
do me a favor and don’t sneeze I don’t want all that BS all over the site!!!!

          • Michael J.

Joe H, I did not mention anything about troops. However, if martial law is implemented it will be enforced by UN troops, not our own. Why do you think the 2010 census will attach a GPS cordinate to each and every household across the nation? It’s because that’s how modern armies navigate. This way foreign troops do not need to speak or read the language to aquire targets. Remember during Obama’s campaign for president how he spoke of a need for a strong domestic force which was to be as well funded and equiped as our regular military?

          • Joe H.

            Michael J,
Again I say, do you think our troops would allow this to happen? We have the best trained Army in the world. The U.N. troops are a mockery of an army at best. Under the last leader kofi Annon, they raped and killed women and children in Africa and our troops know that. Do you think our troops are going to take a chance of that happening to their wives mothers and kids? Don’t be absurd!!!

      • Claire

Wasn’t it Cheny and Bush that voted against a bill for the Veterans while they were in office?

        • eyeswideopen

          Claire, //awolbush/

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
that was after the libs loaded a pile of PORK on a troop bill,of all things, to insure Bush would veto!!! PORK such as funding for dairy farmers, and funding for pet projects in seven or more states!! Does that sound familiar dennisob? Watch those sudden stops by the O-man dennie boy!!!

          • eyeswideopen

Joe, you missed, the Republicans had control of the House and Senate, during the time that Bush cut all the spending. Please note on the link the time frame was 2003, not 2007, when they lost control. Dude just accept that Bush was not what you thought he was and didn’t give two flips about us or our troops.

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
            There you go again…..BS!!!

          • denniso

Eyes…As we know by now, JoeH will never admit to any failing in his judgement..ironclad brain!

          • Joe H.

Watch those sudeden stops dennie boy, remember proctologist!!!!

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
With help from RINOs the Libb minority put pork on the bill and if you looked at any other information site than SNOPES and daily kos or puff n toke you would know that!!!!

    • denniso

David S…’take our country back’? Back to where? Have you read any history? This country has always been ruled by the aristocratic class, from the very beginning. The only difference is that now we actually have a real person as president, who worked his way up from meager beginnings. And all you people can do is trash him. You prefered the elite Bushes and Cheny?? Maybe you actually resent someone from your own class making it to the top, so you try to tear him down.

      • Joe H.

        denniso,
But did he do it legal? If so why won’t he show his college records? Did he get fraudulent foreign student federal grants? If so it’s a federal crime and he is ineligible to be president!!!

  • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Bravo, Geanine Hodges. “There should be NO PORK in any bill”, indeed. “But”, they would counter, “that would mean that we would have to go through all the legislative procedures for each and every amendment if they were a full fledged bill”. “We wouldn’t have time enough to ‘do all the peoples business’.”. Exactly. They might have to actually work five days a week (instead of three) and limit their fundraising to weekends. Or, they might have to limit the amount of “The Peoples Business” they’re able to inflict on us annually. Both of these benefits are, at least to me, are desirable.

    • Joe H.

      Myron,
You mean they might actually have to “gasp” earn their pay?!?!?!?!?

    • Jana

Actually the Pork in these bills is just a way of buying votes. If they can’t vote on the bill for its merits or vote against for lack of good merit, then it shouldn’t be voted on at all. Government is too big already.

  • ONTIME

Republicans in the congress are under just as much scrutiny as are those of the Jackass party because many in the party, the Real Republicans, know that the RINO element is capable of again causing great harm to the tax paying citizens in this country. The conservative bent of this party is at war with the RINO element, they know why the party lost it’s way and they know how the platform has been abused by these thieves of common sense anf logic. They are the fence jumpers the ones with the barbwire crotch rash, the RINO that has killed dozens of tax saving, government limiting laws that should have been passed and employed, the Ghrams the Specters and others of their ilk that have literally and figuatively ruined a unified front to combat the ways of the lib.

All this is subject to change especially the congress and it’s make up of party representation, the coming election will be a determining factor in this swing of the pendulum, it will move no further left and if the conservative element has their say, the swing right will bring repeal of heavy taxation, smaller government, less intrusion and a renewed effort to once again enforce the Constitutional laws and put out the trash.

  • Dennis

    reply to denniso:

I Love liberal Democrats that pin the label of lockstep onto the Republicans in Congress for their combined opposition. Haven’t you seen the polls? A majority of Americans are against this huge Government takeover of HC and the President’s other failed bailout policies. These blind Democrats (They don’t even read the Bills)in this Congress vote in lockstep with Pelosi and Reid without any real concern as to whether their votes will hurt the nation in the long run. Their wasteful bailouts aren’t working and the economy continues to sink. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the majority of jobs created in Americans come from small business. Bailouts to the insurance companies, banks, wall street, etc are a failure. They should’ve allowed the Courts to break them up into more profitable independent divisions….such as happens in REAL America. I for one will remember these wasteful travesties of our elected officials when I vote them all out. Their loyalties should’ve been towards what is BEST for America and not their party’s agenda. President Jefferson warned us about the dangers of a party system in this country and what it would eventually evolve into.

P.S. What we really need in this country is not a Gov’t run HC, but real reform and responsibility. Our HC system is the best in the world, but expensive. With real reform, comes lower costs and the ability of more people being able to afford the HC premiums.
What happens to the cost factor and deficit, after this monster passes and the Dems want to legalize all illegals to get onto the Government’s plan? Remember the Constitution is only 17 pages long and it runs the Nation. These pieces of legislation have a sole purpose of running our lives and usurping our rights, power and wealth to its pushers.

    • Claire

The party system is not good. In the end people either vote Democrat or Republican, hardly anything in-between. It will be this way in 2010 and in 2012. No way out of it.

      • denniso

Claire, it’s a sad fact that party politics is messy and inefficient..but there is no option. It’s what happens in human nature and we are stuck w/ it because we have so many different types of people w/ varying philosophies.

  • http://drberlat@gmail.com DR AL

A quick note to ultra-liberal moron denniso, read the Constitution, if you can. There is no provision, I repeat none for any of the bills that have been passed or are under consideration in the Constitution, period. They are all violations of the Constitution, thereby violations of the oath of office by our servants, thereby treason! America is a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC founded on the principle that the people are the government, not their elected servants. Promote the general welfare has absolutely nothing to do with a socialist/communist healthcare bill to enslave and imprison we the people. No wonder America is one the world’s least literate nations, it keeps voting criminals into office. Is it any wonder to those feeble rocket scientists who are posting here, yes you denniso; your childish naivete and Obot socialist/ marxist leanings aside, that the criminal servants of the people have refused to enroll in the same deathcare plan as their employers and have written in legislation to that end! If it is not expressly provided for in the Constitution, which is the inalienable and inviolable law of the land, it violates the law of the land, period. Once again, every bill either read or as has been the case UNREAD, that these traitors have foisted upon us, the people is ILLEGAL!

    • Joe H.

      Dr. Al,
If you are as good at prescribing medicine as you are at beating down with words, I need some medical advice!!!!

    • Michael J.

Bravo DR Al, denniso and all the other blind devotees shall soon drown in the water that Obama walks on.

      • Claire

I believe we have all been drowninig for a number of years.

    • denniso

…it’s obvious that you’re not a doctor of anything relevant, except maybe stupidity, since you relish name calling. I don’t read or respond to one who can only toss out names like a child…obviously, not worth my time.

      • Joe H.

This from the person who has a degree in name calling!!!

  • Jim N.

I have read all of the replies printed and some of them are good, and some are bad, but many of them are made spontaneously with very little thought, simply knee jerk reactions. Term limits being one of the discussions. I agree that the real course of action is for us not to vote to reelect those in who are incompetent. How do we determine who are the incompetent and the incompetent? We must study the bills being voted on, and more importantly, study how much pork goes into each bill. Then, we have to not only vote our conscience, but ask ourselves “Am I voting for so and so because it would benefit me and/or my state, or am I voting for so and so because it benefits THE WHOLE COUNTRY”.
Narcissism is a very big part of all of those in office. History notes some of the major ones as being Hitler, Lenin, Putin, Stalin, Roosevelt, and yes, Kennedy too. Some of the biggest ones in our overnment today is Pelosi, Reid, Obama, and many also in the Republican Party as well. When a decision made turns out to be a failure, the narcissist simply points to others as the blame. To truly become a real narcissist, simply continue to reelect those in office, rather than voting for new blood.

  • dell

I thought we already had a government run heath care. Lets see what is it called……… hmm its what all these parasitic illegal aliens use. Get rid of them and that would free up a few dollars I imagine. Jobs too!

    • eyeswideopen

dell, we do, it is called Medicare. It is a socialist, government run healthcare program that all who have it seem to love. But they don’t want anyone else to have it…afraid they may lose some of their benefits and that would not be right. We should repeal Medicare and give tax breaks to those who have contributed. If you don’t believe in socialist programs, then don’t be a hypocrite, take action, and let’s get it killed.

      • Claire

Surely you don’t mean that. I know numerous elderly people that would not survive without it.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
Oh, she means it unborn babies and the elderly. She hate them both!!!

    • denniso

      Dell…what a kind,Christian thing to call fellow humans..’parasitic’.
You should know that most of them pay some kind of taxes and do jobs that most Americans won’t do for pay they wouldn’t take…no benefits, and they seldom use the medical system. Your demonizing and scapegoating of real people is evil and nazi like. There are plenty of citizens here who scam the system every day..pick on them.

      • Joe H.

Lets see, 12.00 hr meat packing plant, sheetrock work, painting, construction, and carpentry that I can think of that I have seen in the newspaper reports. Yup all work American workers won’t do!!!!

        • denniso

Than what’s the problem?? If there are 10-15 million illegals and 310 million americans, can’t americans outcompete the illegals??

          • Claire

Denniso–the problem is that illegals will work for next to nothing and they have taken jobs from us. This is why a lot of our companies went to countries that had people that would work cheap. The average American would not work for a buck an hour. I know I wouldn’t. We as a Nation cannot take on additional population. We cannot take care of OUR OWN much less anybody else. America is the land of plenty? Well it isn’t anymore. We just cannot take care of everybody in the world. We are stretched too thin. The countries that the illegals came from have greedy, corrupt governments that do nothing for their people, and that is why America is being flooded with them. We can’t take on anymore. Sure, I feel really bad for these people, but what about our families, what about our kids? What about our country? It is a bad situation. America must come to a screeching halt regarding this problem.

        • Joe H.

          denniso, denniso,
Are you that far gone? You really DO believe what you are saying don’t you??? You say the unions are so good for the U.S. then say that these illegals should be able to take work away from CITIZENS that won’t do skilled trades for 7 or 8 bucks an hour!!!!!! God are you SOOOOO dense!!!!!

          • Joe H.

            Claire,
I agree with you, but take it a step further and let them fight to better their own countries like our ancestors did!! Or are they too lazy??? Maybe they don’t care about ANY counrty!!!!

  • Bruce

Folks all these bone heads are told what to do, as they have done something bad in the past, of whats being held over their heads.
Or they are getting “PAYOLA.” Who cares are you really going to do anything about it? I have just one name, Brain Dead TED, how long is it is was in again? And mind you for at least 8 year being BRAIN DEAD.
    My God people.

To really clean up DC, first off – “all groups that Lobby” for anything toss them out. Thats the crux, of the problem.

The media, how to rid them of the power they now hold.

Look at who uses advertizing with them, “STOP BUYING the CRAP!” Even if you need it, don’t buy it.
Turn off YOUR TV SET. Don’t pay to play a game you don’t support.

Any FOOD products, Cloths, BEER, Sports events, you got the picture yet. NO $$$$$$$$ Means NO more BS.
When they don’t get paid they will start changing their tune’s.

So How many of you will VOTE your Congress and Senate person out?

How many of you will stop eating at MacDaddys, RED Lobster, How many will give up your Football channels? How many of you will give up that GMC?
Yea now were talking, YET- you will do none of these things as they require discipline.

The PROBLEM we now face, is the UN Coppenhagan Climate event comeing in just a few days. If our FIGURE HEAD #44 signs that, its over and done.
Contact your Congress and Senate person’s use what ever works to make them STOP this in its tracts NOW.

    • Claire

Unfortunately, I do not believe we will ever get rid of the Lobbyists. The insurance companies donated to a lot of Republicans-Lieberman for one. The majority of the companies have donated to either a Democrat or a Republican. It is a vicious circle. There is no way this can be prevented. The candidates depend on these donations. When you get down to the nitty gritty, your state Senators, Representatives–none of them are going to pay any attention to us even if we bugged the hell out of them on a daily basis.

      • eyeswideopen

Claire, campaign reform is what is needed to stop the Corporations from purchasing the Congressmen. When you follow the money, and you see how they vote, it is obvious that the lobbyists are running this country.

        • Claire

          Eyes–I agree.

        • denniso

EYO…the only way to break the grip of lobbyists and corporations on our gov’t is to have public financing of national elections…if we don’t do that then what we have is what we will continue to have…most politicians indebted to whomever finances their campaigns. I still get surprised at the number of politicians who are mostly honest and have some degree of integrity.

    • denniso

      Bruce…now that’s a logical and reasoned solution to our problems..’nobody buy anything’…WOW!!

      • Joe H.

        denniso,
We won’t ask that you buy nothing. We’ll let you buy everything…..except food!!!!!

  • Rod

You tell me who supports him and we will stop shopping there and eating there.

When will these thugs realize the American people wre going to fight
back. We are tired of his lies and his CRIMINAL friends! We can start now and VOTE-VOTE-VOTE in 2010.

    • Claire

What about Wal-Mart? All they carry is “Made in China” crap.

      • Joe H.

        Claire,
The only problem is they also became the biggest employer!! What do we do?

        • Claire

God help me, I do not know. I have several relatives that work for Wal-Mart. They don’t like the idea of all the “Made in China” stuff either, but they need their jobs. It is a Cache 22 situation. I was there this past weekened and I found Christmas cards “Made in the USA.” I couldn’t believe it! Anyway, I always do my best to buy USA products. And I have always bought GM/Ford cars/SUVS. Right now I have a Jeep plus my Chevy Van. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A HUMMER!!! Just don’t tell me about the parts coming from China and Japan. I don’t want to hear it! LOL

  • Rod

We will NOT ALLOW this LUNKHEAD and his side kicks like Palosi who is
no doubt the most stupid jerk they have ever let escape from the
mental institution they slimed her out of, take our country down! The
most worthless skumbags ever to darken Washington D.C.
I have talked to some of the libs. that voted for him and they say
NEVER, NEVER again. To bad they didn’t see and hear it before they
voted. Would have saved us alot of trouble.

    • Jana

Yes, Pelosi and her big humongous jet that costs an arm and a leg every time she flies back and forth from Washington DC and California. She couldn’t be satisfied with the jet that was provided for her, no, she demanded and got a much bigger one, more to her station in life.

      • eyeswideopen

Jana, here is the real story of why Pelosi has a different jet. http://www.snopes.com/politics/pelosi/jet.asp

You really need to get more info from internet, instead of Fox.

        • Joe H.

          Eyes,
yeah Snopes the site run by a liberal democrat and his wife!!! Good source!!!! Wow!!!

          • denniso

Joe H…Snopes is recognized as a credible site for debunking all sorts of myth and outright lies. It doesn’t matter what the party affiliation of the founder is, it has credibility, whereas you don’t.

          • Joe H.

yeah you’re right it doesn’t matter. They won’t be just a little left leaning!! I’ll bet you also believe in the Lone Ranger too don’t you?

      • cr747

Jana, Pelosi won’t be needing the larger plane after 2010. All she will need then is a cab to get her from her home to Wal-Mart, and maybe to the nearest coffee shop.!!!!!!!!

        • Joe H.

          cr747,
Come on be generous!!! let her have a moped!!!!

          • cr747

Joe H. That would work, but, do you think she could find goggles big enough to cover those bug eyes?

          • Claire

            A segway would be better.

  • Claire

O.K. everybody—who you going to vote for in 2010 and 2012?

    • Joe H.

      Claire,
Who am I going to vote for? I don’t know yet but I can tell you one thing for CERTAIN. I won’t be voting for any libbies or Rinos!!!!

    • cr747

Claire, you can bet it won’t be another Muslim, or anyone like or even close to Obama. I didn’t vote for him the last time. He does not know enough to run a mcdonalds, much less a country like the United States. He might be able to run the country he was born in, Kenya Africa.

      • denniso

        cr….now those are hard facts!!

        • cr747

denniso, hard facts, but true. As I said earlier, I am a lawyer, and have offices in four states. One of those offices is in Washington, and I, or some of my associates see a lot of Politicians. You would be surprised what goes on there.!!!!!

          • denniso

I’m talking about your lies about Obama…he is not a Muslim…he was not born in Kenya. You’re proofing what too many people think about lawyers, that you don’t care about the difference between truth and lies.
I’ve been around a while and I’m not surprised by politicians or anyone’s behaviour. Human nature, greed, corruption, ego…

          • Joe H.

            dennisobber,
If he’s not a Muslim then why did he say if the wind blows bad I will come down on the side of the Muslims???

          • cr747

denniso!!!!!!!! Waiting to here your false answer!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Claire

Did you hear that Huckabee pardoned the creep that killed the 4 policemen in Washington state? The creep’s name is Maurice Clemons. Huckabee pardoned him in Arkansas.

    • Jana

No, Claire, I hadn’t heard that they even had a name for the guy yet, I have been busy today.

    • Joe H.

      Claire,
He didn’t pardon him, he commuted his sentence to one that was eligble for parole. He says that is his and only his fault. the parole sets with the parole board!!! They had his record. He was picked up for several other crimes since and the charges never stuck. One of the crimes he was picked up for was rape. But don’t talk of the death penalty, Eyes and her alter ego will tell you he might have been innocent!!! Well We don’t have to worry about that now he did the state of Washington a favor and resisted arrest!!! no long drawn out bleeding heart libby trial.

      • Claire

And certainly no waste of the taxpayers money.

  • Claire

Joe H–o.k. you can scream at me now. The war in Iraq and Afganistan was not caused by Obama. It was created by Cheney and Bush. And now Obama has to try to clean it up. If he pulls the troops home, then all of you will call him a coward. If and when he sends in more troops, you all will call him a killer. So what do you guys want him to do? What do you think he should do? What would you guys do if you were the President? Answer this for me, please.

    • coal miner

      Claire,

Joeh is a bigot.Obama is black. He could win the war over there and they would still say he made a secret deal with the enemies.

      • Claire

Coal miner—I have no room in my life for racists. There is good and bad in Blacks and there is good and bad in Whites. What about the Chinese, the Japanese, the people from India, and all the others that live here in the U.S.? Our Nation is full of culturally different people.
You are right about Obama. Whatever Obama does will be wrong, no matter what. The man can’t win. I would NEVER do anything to harm any President, whether he is black or white. I would never PROMOTE anything to cause him/her any harm. That is not the way to do things. And I sure as hell do not want to spend the rest of my life in any prison for doing harm to anybody. If a person doesn’t like the President, vote him out. If a person doesn’t like the Congress, vote them out. It is as simple as that. There is no need for all this hate. If we are Christians, then we should conduct ourselves like Christians. Here I said all this and I complained about the Islams in another post. I guess I should practice what I preach. But the Islams are evil, and God knows this.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
no I’m not going to scream at you. I’ve said before that if he isn’t going to fight the war to win then get the hell–o out!!! So either way if he does or he doesn’t I will feel better. I’ve just said he’s leaving them out to hang in the wind while he ponders what he should have and would have done if he had any combat experience!!!

          • denniso

Joe H…’combat experience’ like Bush/Cheny/Rumsfeld have?? the genius draft dodgers who got us into these wars and didn’t win after 7-8 yrs? Give me a break !!

          • cr747

denniso, you try to make every body believe that you walk a straight line. Your comments tell a complete different story. I think I have about got you sized up. You speak with forked tongue. You need to be able to walk the walk, and talk the talk. I don’t quite get very much sense out of a lot of your comments.!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Joe H.

        coal minor,
I usually find that the ones that accuse others of racism are usually the biggest racists around!!!

        • Claire

Good old Pork–the politicians have to have it. There is no solution for problem. The politicians always put it in any and every bill. They have to take care of the ones that donated to their campaign. Now I know why I don’t like ham anymore. I’m not trying to be funny, I just don’t know what can be done about this problem.

        • eyeswideopen

Joe, people are probably more racist as the threats against a President have risen 400 % during the first 3 months of Obama’s administration. It is rather hard to attribute that kind of anger to the passing of a stimlus bill. Where were those same kind of threats when Bush passed the huge freebie bill for Wall Street? Funny that the threats increased after a bill for the Main street was passed, isn’t it? Logic would dictate that Americans would be more angry with giving Wall Street all that money, more so than giving Main Street money.

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
you have a very short and convenient memory!!! There were death threats and people saying that Bush should die and they were mostly from the libbies. you don’t remember them comparing him to Hitler? Don’t you remember when the hunting accident happened with Cheney that so many were saying it was a shame the guy didn’t shoot back at Cheney only with better aim? Get off the soap box lady it doesn’t help your stature!!!

          • denniso

Joe H…don’t you understand?? Let me help! EYO said that threats against the prez are up 400%..get it? the implication is that there is racism involved since Bush had many fewer threats, even after crashing the economy and starting the bailouts. I have a theory…The extreme rightwing is just inherently violent. Plenty of dems loathed Bush/Cheny, but they didn’t threaten their lives.

          • cr747

If so many threats, maybe he ought to stop and see what he’s doing that’s causing them. Maybe he’s the racist. Color is no problem with me. I probably have fifty to sixty different races on my payroll. My father gave different races jobs. My Mother had different races in our home. I was practically raised by a super nice, sweet black lady that got me out of bed, and fixed my breakfast, got my clothes out ready for me, and got me to school.

          • Claire

eyes–you are right I’m afraid. All of our Presidents have received death threats but it appears Obama has received twice as many. This is not right, I cannot condone threatening the life of any of our Presidents. This is not the way to handle things. I keep remembering JFK and Bobby Kennedy, and the nut that took a shot at Reagan. The day JFK was shot I was working at my in-laws restaurant. We were horrified. People that were in the restaurant at that time cried and were really upset. What bothers me about this situation is that some of the radio media lambast Obama at every turn. There are too many crazies out there and all it takes is one nut to try to do something evil. As I have said before, the guy can’t please everyone. I just simply cannot justify the hate. I would feel the same way if someone else was our President. I pray for him, and I pray for ALL of us. I keep thinking things will work out. Hopefully.

          • denniso

cr747…The extreme rightwing gun nut kooks are the ones who threaten people w/ assasination. You think Obama should try to tailor his policies to them? Leaders in the repub party spreading lies, hate and fear, like Limbaugh, Beck, Savage and more, bear some responsibility for the increase in theats on Obama. They whip up a fervor in the minds of the unbalanced and sit back and watch what happens. Great patriots, all.

          • Joe H.

            Eyes,
Be sure to read Claire’s post. Reagan. Shot. Remember!!! Kennedy. Shot. Killed. Remember????

          • Joe H.

            Yeah denniso,
I’m sure reagan was shot by a right wing gun nut!!!! Remember the KKK? They were a page right out of the democrat hand book!!!!

          • Joe H.

            Coal minor,
I couldn’t care less if he black, white pink or purple for cripe sakes!! All I ask is he be for a strong America and a smaller government!!! Don’t tread on the constitution!!!

          • cr747

denniso, Obama is his on worst enemy. It’s what comes out of his mouth that gets him the threats, plain and simple.!!!!!!!!!

    • http://PersonalLiberty.com Danny Boy

Claire, once again the war was started by Muslim thugs killing over 3000 Americans, NOT BUSH & CHENEY!!!!!!!

      • denniso

D B….THE WAR IN IRAQ HAS NOTHING TO DO W/ 9/11. Sadamm was never connected to bin ladden. Don’t you ever read or think??

      • eyeswideopen

Danny boy, you do know that we attacked Iraq for no reason don’t you? We have spent a trillion dollars and thousands of lives in a war which was not necessary. We let Bush and Cheney hijack our money and kids lives in order for them to finish what Daddy Bush started and the United Nations didn’t let him do,which was to annilate the Iraq President. That effort caused us to take the target off of Afghanistan and now we are in a debacle in that country. Yes, some extremists attacked us and now we are in a fiscal downspout which has no end in sight. They knew that we would start a war, which would bankrupt us, and they are still winning after all these years, as we are still engaged in a no win war.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
I bet you would have been against us attacking Germany and freeing the Jewish too, right? Saddam MURDERED 12,000 Khurds with I might add GAS!!!

          • Joe H.

Excuse me, that was meant for EYES!!

          • denniso

Joe H…World war 2 was a war of aggression by the germans and the japanese. We didn’t invade germany to ‘free the jewish’. We actually knew of some of the horrors going on in germany a few yrs before we got into the war. Iraq did not attack us.Simple. Iraq had nothing to do w/ 9/11.Simple. AND, your hero Reagan was allied w/ Saddam and gave him satellite intel to use his poison gas in his war w/Iran..then we let him invade Kuwait so we could start a war w/ him to bring him back down to size. Look it up!

          • Claire

Joeh—no I wouldn’t be against attacking any country if they meant us harm. I am glad we helped the Jews.

        • Joe H.

          DenniSo,
give me a source for that that isn’t left leaning. I’ll even accept the AP!

          • denniso

Joe H…what’s a ‘left leaning source’? Anybody w/ a decent education?Anyway, I’m not going to do your homework for you…get off this site and do some real reading of BOOKS!!!Everyone who has studied Germany’s rise to power and WW 2 knows what went on.

          • Joe H.

            dennie boy,
Real nice try boy, I was talking about the liberal “fact” that we let him invade Kuwait!!! BUSH went in and stopped him almost over a weekend!!!! Give me a source that says we LET him invade!!!

          • Joe H.

            Dennisobber,
            ???????

  • Bruce

Folks its an “OIL PIPE line” in Afganistan and lets not forget them special flowers we are over there protecting, the list of who and why is just too long.

Getting the Lobbyist out is as easy as making a LAW, wow theres a novel idea. They make them for us to follow daily, 99% of them don’t do you nore I any good at all.

Pick a product thats not advertized on TV, think all stations that are not reporting but making news up, as in CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, just to name a few.
Products well if you eat it, smoke it, drink it, wear it, use it, that about covers the list.
Oh and STOP BUYING products made anywhere BUT in the USA.

Also – STOP paying your tax’s, they can’t imprison all of us.

    • Joe H.

      Bruce,
you mentioned one that is not advertised on T.V. If you smoke it, it’s not on t.v.!!!!!

  • Claire

I also have read that Cheney and Bush received information regarding an attack BEFORE 9/11. Why wasn’t something done about it? We went to war, and I would have cleaned house immediately. I would not drag it on and on like they did. This war has become another Viet Nam and you know it.

    • Joe H.

      claire ,
this won’t be another Viet Nam until a lot more die and I pray that that never happens. try the tune of 58,191 to be exact. Go count them on the wall in D.C. if you want. There are a few more now that have died as a direct effect of their wounds. I get so tired of hearing you poor libbies using that comparison it makes me sick!!! I was there lady and it’s nothing the same!!! It is hell and I will be the first to state that as all war is hell. Try being in a war that less than 30% of the country supported and just as few supported the troops. That is why I will support these fine young men as hard and as long as I possibly can. I’ve sent dozens of care packages over there to the troops I personally know or have been suggested to me by people I know. If you haven’t done at least that you need to find where your heart is people!!!

      • Claire

Joeh–I certainly did not mean any disrespect. I was merely thinking of the time element. It has been 8 years. And yes, thank God we do not have the casualties that we did in Viet Nam. I support our troops too, but I hate war, any war. I have sent packages too, and cards. I am afraid for our troops when they come back. I worry that our government will not help them the way they should. There are no jobs, marriages have fallen apart, their family life has taken a beating. My girlfriend and her husband lost a son two years ago. They are still grieving. They will never get over losing him. My son almost had to go during Desert Storm. They called up some from the Air Guard (the 183rd) but he was not included. It scared the heck out of me, but he would have gone willingly. I also heard proper supplies have not been sent, and some of the guns are faulty. That really bothers me. At all costs, we should make absolutely sure that they have everything they need to protect themselves.
And Joeh, I am not a libbie. I walk the middle of the road.

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
I apologize. I shouldn’t have come down on you like that. I just very touchy about that. I have had friends die in all three of these wars. One died in my arms. Please excuse my outburst.

          • Claire

Joeh–don’t give it another thought. I can only imagine how you feel about Vietnam. It was tragic. I had several young cousins over there and it sure wasn’t pretty. They came back alive but it sure did some damage to them. They have had a hard row to hoe. When they came back, people sure weren’t very nice to them. People treated them like it was all their fault. They picked on them, and treated them like lepers. They were lucky to get jobs.

          • cr747

Claire, I am a retired fighter pilot from the Vietnam era. Spent 22 years service for my country. Got the same kind of reception from all the people you are talking about. Only my family was glad to see me. I am a lawyer with offices in four states, one of those states being Washington. Know Washington politics very well, and I say we have got some of the worst people running our country that I have ever dealt with. Talk to a lot of them at times. I own three 747 private planes for business use and personal use. Just got in from Jamaica this morning from a business trip.

          • denniso

cr…impressive!! I would be really impressed now if you could demonstrate some of your alledged education and quit spewing hate and calling people names. And, don’t you know that your rightwing buddies hate lawyers? I don’t, but I’m just an evil liberal after all.

      • Jana

Joe, AMEN!!! RIGHT ON!!! I AGREE, AND I HAVE.

  • http://vvlhughes@yahoo.com vera

As far as your response that not that many Americans want health care reform. There are 80% that don’t want it. The only health care reform needed is to stop the malpractice suits that aren’t even worth the paper they are written on. We need to have more competition and people able to cross state lines to receive the health care insurance that they want. We need to stop with the social programs for the people that don’t care to better themselves because they can sit back and rake in money from the government while they sell drugs, prostitution, and stealing from those that have made a life for themselves. People need to stand up and fight for what they believe in, but not at the cost of other Americans.I for one worked two jobs and raised (5)children with NO SOCIAL PROGRAM or child support. We did fine and all of them now married and working to take care of theair children with out social Programs.

    • denniso

vera, you are totally wrong. A large majority of the country wants reform, they are just worried about a specific bill and afraid of the unknown. How do you think that Obama and congress would even try to do something if only 20% wanted reform? Oh, that’s right, they’re dictators..I forgot.

      • Claire

denniso—A know a lot of people that want health care reform with a public option. However, the bill is always changing, and why even do it if it is going to be watered down–then it will be a waste of time. We pay these politicians to do their job and none of them are working together to get it done right! Have you actually seen/read the entire bill in its present form?

        • Joe H.

          Claire,
Not even half of the politicians have read it in its present form!!!

          • Claire

JoeH– You are right. I probably ewouldn’t understand the lingo anyway. The way they write things is very complicated. There is always hidden meanings that they can use at a later date.

          • Joe H.

            claire,
Feel free to disagree if you want I’m not mad at you and you won’t hurt my feelings. God Bless.

  • Darrel

Denniso – clearly a far left liberal. Comes to this site expousing all this wonderful information, telling everyone else what to do, listening to no one. Clearly drinking the Obama Kool-Aid and so closed minded he cannot see the forest for the trees. I’m going to love hearing the silence from him when (well, if) he wakes up and realizes what the Obamanation and his cronies have done to our country. Of course, he’ll still expect the rich people to pay for it. And when the dems have taken everything away from the rich or forced them to move to another country, who’ll pay for everything? I believe New Jersey (or Rhode Island or Connecticut) tried having the rich pay for everything, and they just moved away. Now what?

    • eyeswideopen

Darrel, you are aware that approximately 52,000 wealthy people are hiding their money in off shore accounts aren’t you? You also realize that means that the middle class Americans are paying for the entire country’s infrastructure that the wealthy also use. Where do you think the rich will move too? Most countries in the world have taxes and why would they leave, when they can stay here, free from taxes and use all our resources free of charge? You need to have sympthay for the middle class Americans whose healthcare insurance went up 131% in ten years, while their salaries only went up 38%. Big disparity don’t you think? Every time you want to feel sorry for the big corporations, think about the 92 Billion in subsidies that the Federal Government gave them in 2006. It should make your pain less for the rich who are receiving hordes of money, while the corporations are sending all the jobs overseas.

      • Joe H.

        Eyes,
You DO know that O-bama has gone after those accounts and is getting cooperation from both the Swiss and Carribean banks????

    • denniso

Darrel…’a far left liberal’, wow, that really sounds terrible! Could it be that I think that what Jesus said was right? That the rich should give away their possessions? That a rich man will have a tougher time getting to heaven than a camel through the eye of a needle? That you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you? That you should help the least among you? That he who is w/o sin should cast the first stone? That you should turn the other cheek? Yeah, that Jesus was a pretty ‘far left liberal’!!! Any of you stone throwers/haters happen to be pretend Christians??

      • Joe H.

        Well dennie boy,
When I want to give it away I will and have many times. I just don’t like it TAKEN from me to do it. I’m sure the Bible doesn’t say and the government shall taketh away a mans worldly goods and distribute them among his people so that he has none!!!! And yes dennie boy I do claim to be a Christian. You, on the other hand, have the leanings of a communist!!!!

      • cr747

Man, what about O-Bam-Bams approval rating? 47% how sad!!!!!!!! Bush was at 86% this same time in HIS administration. Is there something wrong with this picture. DENNISO, SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU HAVE LOST A LOT OF your SUPPORTERS!!!!!!!!!

  • Claire

Sometimes I wish I was rich–a billionaire many times over. I would help the troops and their families first, I would help the “legally” poor, I would donate to cancer research, I would help the animals (dogs, cats, wildlife, forests, parks) I would give as much as possible to deserving humanity here in the U.S. You cannot take all this money with you when you die, so why not put it to good use? Why leave it for the family to fight over? I guess I can be rather goofy at times, bear with me. But it would be so nice to do some good for others.

    • Joe H.

Claire, that’s being charitable. It’s charitable when you give freely and it’s theft when people, government or not, reach into your pockets and take it!!

  • Bruce

Dear Mr. Denniso, your numbers are off by quite a bit, as far as I recall 65% Plus is not the minority, that sir is the number of folks here in the US that are not in favor of this Health bill / Government take over.

As I recall its a much smaller number that are in favor of it just 20%, so even with the 15% that have no opinion thats still the Minority.
How can one have no opinion? Lets see when you were young your Mom said don’t eat glass its not good for you, 65% agreed and have had few problems, 20% said no way I am eating glass as I know far better than YOU.
15% had NO Opinion, so hows that works again?

Oh and just for the record these numbers are from a USA today poll.
MSN had a like poll that was displayed for all of 10 hours before removing it. Strange how that works, yet they display Modona for a week having gas.

Now as far as tax the rich and feed the poor, come on people if you take away from one person to give to someone who will do nothing, thats not within reason. Thats just crazy.
Heres the deal, in one year the rich will have all the money and the poor still the same. Why? “ZERO DRIVE.”
The strong will surive, the week should be weeded out. Thats natural selection.

To allow a Government to grow in weath while steeling from the ones who do, aka the workers no matter how much they have.
That as well is not within reason. Just look at your speaker of the house, Miss NP she has passed laws that have allowed her to gain “Billions.”
Strange but these persons are sworn to protect and serve, not to rape and pillage.
Keep in mind that 3% pay raise they just gave themselfs for the super job they are doing! Did you get a raise? Do you still even have a job?

As to a product line to boycott how about our speakers line of products, { DOLE, and Starkissed,} DON’T buy her products for one full year, tell your friends to do the same, tell you store you don’t want then to carry the products.
Don’t watch CNN for one full year, Don’t buy Coke for one full year.

      Bruce,
While I agree with you, the boycott plan has been tried ad nauseum and has not succeeded. Look at Glenn Beck. The libs and Obamabots tried to get him off the air and he became more popular!!! That really worked!

      Bruce,
I think you finally hit on the answer!!!!! denniso ate the glass!!!!!!

cr747—WOW! Jamaica! I love the beaches! I have never been in a plane! I will not ever be in a plane! My husband gets so mad at me. He used to take flying lessons in St. Louis when he worked for McDonnell-Douglas years ago. He and my son fly on golf trips but not me! It is bad enough here on the ground!I am happy you have done well. It must be exciting to go to places like Jamaica and all over the countryside. I haven’t left the United States! I always liked some of the beaches in Florida, and of course, Gulfport and Biloxi. I always liked shopping at their stores.
I have been all over the U.S.showing my dogs on the weekends and that is fun, especially when they win! I certainly have put the miles on my full-size Conversion Chevy van! I call it the beast. It gets 21 miles to the gallon on the interstate, has a car chassis and it rides like a Cadillac. I remember one time in Texas on the way to a dog show, a cop stopped me. All the dogs were barking at him and he made me step out and he looked inside the van. He must have thought I had some illegals or drugs. It was crazy. Anyway he said I acted like I was lost and I was! So he helped me get out of Dallas.
Politicians scare me, but I feel I have to keep hoping for the best. I keep hoping everthing will turn out just right and we will all be happy. I guess I am foolish for thinking this way.

Claire, never think that you are foolish. I can tell that you are the type of Lady that likes to live life to it’s fullest. So never think foolish. I know you believe in God by your comments. God can take you any place you want to go. You just have to believe, and most of all believe in yourself!!!!!!!!

By the way Claire, my family has been very fortunate in life. Well, my Dad was a politician….. My family owned Restaurants, and Truck stops all over the United States. We where very fortunate, with lots of hard work and a lot of sweat. My parents have both gone on to be with the Lord. I inherited all of this, and that is why I try to enjoy life to its fullest. I do not drink, I do not smoke, I spend most of my time flying from here to there, trying to take care of business. My Lovely wife beat breast cancer back in 1993 and 1994 Has been cancer free since then. She still works as a Certified Professional Coder for a major Hospital. I wouldn’t even try to get her to quit. We don’t see each other very much, but we stay in touch. We do spend all the holidays together.

      • Claire

Bless you and your wife. I am happy she is cancer free. I had a friend that passed away from breast cancer when she was 52 years old. Now I have another friend that has breast cancer. She is really battling and God help her, I just don’t know if she will make it. It has been 3 years now. They thought she was doing fine but it has come back.
I keep hoping and praying that they come up with a cure. One never knows what is around the corner. So we must enjoy every day.

Joe H, Do not confuse UN peace keepers with F.I.N.C.E.N.

  • Joe H.

    Michael J
And don’t mistake UN peace keepers with FICEN!!!! They were black U.N. peace keepers!!! I saw part of the tapes!!!!! They were when Kofi was in charge of the U.N.!!!!

  • Claire

Joe H–You probably don’t care for Biden but at least he goes home every night on the train and goes to work in the morning on a train. He’s done that for years and years. The others should do the same and or at least drive their own vehicles and pay their own airfare. I am rather tired of paying for their keep.

    Joeh,

You called Obama a Muslim,Muslims are not allowed in churches, in some radical cases it is death. He stated time and time again that he is he is a Christian.Years ago I went went with a Catholic girl friend to her church, does that make me a Catholic? You sound like a uneducated redneck who is set in his ways. When people start to disagree with you, even mildly you resort to cheap shots and name calling.Denniso and Eyes are an example.
