Bit of a stacked deck, I’d say. And spending disproportionate time on an obviously ignorant Obama supporter puts the video decidedly in the category of non-scientific, anecdotal “evidence.”

My guess is that if you went into the heart of anti-Obama country, you’d get similar answers. The premise of the headline is correct, i.e., “U.S Voters Don’t Know Who Elects the President.”

Consider also that, even amongst those who fully recognize the role of the Electoral College in the process, the answer that “we elect the president through our vote” is subtantially correct. I’m not talking of the technicalities of the issue, but about the commonly accepted manner of speaking and understanding.

Admittedly, I was happy that Al Gore didn’t win the 2000 election, but the fact remains that he carried the popular vote.

Electoral College is with us for the duration. The states with small populations, that receive de facto disproportinal representation in the College, will never vote to amend the Constitution to do away with it.

      Correction: make that “disproportional.”
