U.S. Sailor Missing In Gulf Of Aden

WASHINGTON, July 29 (UPI) — The U.S. Navy reported it was searching for a sailor believed to have gone overboard in the Gulf of Aden.

The unidentified crew member of the amphibious ship Boxer was reported missing Tuesday afternoon after failing to report for watch, the Navy Times reported. The ship was searched and the sailor was not found aboard.

Aircraft from the Boxer and the carrier Ronald Reagan joined the search, along with land-based P-3 Orion patrol planes, the auxiliary cargo ship Alan Shepard, destroyer Mitscher and cruiser Anzio.

The search continued Thursday and the sailor’s family had been notified, the Navy said.

The Boxer, flagship of an amphibious group, deployed from San Diego Feb. 22 with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
