TSA At Republican, Democratic Conventions
At least 55 Transportation Security Agents agents will be working the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
The Transportation Security Administration screened those at the Republican National Convention as well as the Democratic National Convention. Some people are asking this question: What do the conventions have to do with transportation?
At least 55 TSA agents will be working the DNC in Charlotte, N.C., screening at Time Warner Cable Arena, the Convention Center and Bank of America, the three sites of the convention. The agency has also stepped up screening at the Charlotte Douglas Airport with an additional 161 screeners.
In Tampa, Fla., last week, the personal belongings of those attending the RNC were examined with an X-ray screener.
“This illustrates how the TSA’s presence at public events which have nothing to do with transportation is becoming normalized as the federal agency’s bloated budget greases the skids for thousands upon thousands of unannounced checkpoints across the country,” wrote Paul Joseph Watson.
The TSA was also present at a Paul Ryan event in Florida.
