Truck Hanging From Overpass Closes I-40 In Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Aug. 26 (UPI) — Interstate 40 through Oklahoma City was closed Friday after a semi-truck jackknifed, leaving a trailer load of gravel over the side of an overpass, police said.

It took at least an hour for rescue crews to gingerly pluck the trucker from the cab of the vehicle, which struck a bridge rail during the morning rush hour and flipped over on its side.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said I-40 was closed between I-44 and I-235 to reduce the vibrations caused by passing traffic.

The truck’s load of gravel spilled on to the ground below; however, it did not land on any roadway, The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City said.
