Triplets Graduate From Separate Schools

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., (UPI) — A set of Florida triplets preparing to graduate from three different high schools said two of their graduations are scheduled for the same time.

The 17-year-old Pinellas County students, Anna, Peter and Marina Stamas, said the whole family will be able to attend when Peter graduates Wednesday night, but their family will be split Thursday night when Anna and Marina graduate at the same time from different schools, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Times reported Wednesday.

“It’s gut-wrenching to not be able to go to all the kids’ graduations when they’ve been through so much and done so well. To miss a graduation is hard,” said their father, John Stamas. “But it’s just what we have to do.”

The parents said they decided to split the kids up in school after they were kicked out of one preschool class for essentially taking over and the teacher at their next preschool recommended they be put in different classes. The students followed different paths that ended with them in three different high schools and will mean attending different universities in the fall.

“Other twins and triplets tend to rely on each other too much. They’re not as independent,” said Rhonda Stamas, their mother. “This way they have their own sets of friends and sense of who they are.”
