They Signed for Us

July 3, 2009 by

They Signed for Us

Every schoolchild in America knows why we celebrate the Fourth of July. Flags and fireworks commemorate the day we declared our independence from Britain.

On July 4, 1776, after months of heated debate, representatives of the Continental Congress voted unanimously that, “These United Colonies are and of right ought to be Free and Independent States.”

Thirteen colonies voted to become something new in history—the United States of America. Now, all they had to do was to win their independence from a government that would consider them traitors.

Fifty-six men bravely affixed their signatures to the Declaration of Independence. What sort of men were they? And what became of them?

Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists, 11 were merchants, nine were farmers or plantation owners. They were well-educated men of means. All of them had a great deal to lose when they voted to defy what was then the most powerful nation on earth. Yet they willingly risked everything when they pledged to each other “our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.”

As I said, all of us can explain why we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. But how many of us can name even a handful of the signers of the Declaration of Independence? What do we know, really, about the men who risked their lives, and everything they owned, in the cause of freedom?

Because the story of the signers is so inspiring, we’ve arranged a special treat for you today—a free copy of a wonderful little book called They Signed For Us.

Half a century ago two patriotic ladies in the Midwest wanted to help others learn more about the remarkable men who signed the Declaration. Merle Sinclair and Annabel Douglas McArthur wrote a delightful book about the events of that time, including a history of each of the signers. They called it, They Signed For Us.

At the end of today’s column you’ll find a link that will take you to a copy of the book. You may read it online or download it and print your own copy. The file also includes a list of all of the signers and the states they represented, plus the complete text of the Declaration of Independence.

To whet your appetite a bit, here’s an excerpt from They Signed For Us.

“SUDDENLY THE BIG BELL in the State House steeple pealed joyously. The appointed signal! Cheers rose from the waiting crowds.

“‘Proclaim liberty throughout the land….’

“Cannon boomed, drums rolled. Church bells rang, sounding the death knell of British domination!

“News of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence spread like wildfire. Ready messengers leaped into their saddles to ride and spread the word. The Declaration had been ordered printed on a single large sheet, ‘45.5 x 37.5 cm.,’ or approximately eighteen by fifteen inches. These broadsides were distributed with all possible speed, to be read in the provincial assemblies, pulpits, market places, and army camps.”

The story continues:

“On July 8, the Liberty Bell summoned citizens of Philadelphia to the State House yard for a public reading of the document. Colonel John Nixon mounted a high platform and spoke the noble lines in a strong, clear voice. The crowd, now hushed, listened intently throughout.

“‘…for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.’

It was almost a month later that the Declaration was engrossed on parchment and ready for signing by the delegates to the Continental Congress. Members gathered on August 2 for the ceremony.

The only person who had signed the Declaration on July 4 was John Hancock, a delegate from Boston who had been elected president of the Continental Congress. He wrote his signature in large, bold letters and as he did, in a reference to the near-sightedness of the British king, he declared, “There! John Bull can read my name without spectacles and may now double his reward of £500 for my head. That is my defiance.”

As the delegates gathered around a desk to sign the Declaration, William Emery, one of the representatives from Rhode Island, moved as close as he could. “I was determined to see how they all looked as they signed what might be their death warrants,” he later wrote. “I placed myself beside the secretary, Charles Thomson, and eyed each closely as he affixed his name to the document. Undaunted resolution was displayed on every countenance.”

Contrasting with Hancock’s confident signature was the shaky scratch of Stephen Hopkins from Rhode Island. Hopkins was the second-oldest signer and suffered from palsy. As he handed the quill to the next person, he valiantly proclaimed, “My hand trembles, but my heart does not!”

As one or two delegates hung back, seemingly reluctant to add their signatures to such a momentous declaration, John Hancock encouraged them. “We must be unanimous,” he said. “There must be no pulling different ways. We must all hang together.”

Legend has it that Benjamin Franklin replied, “Yes, we must all hang together. Or most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

Happily, none of the signers was hanged by the British. But all of them were considered traitors to the Crown. And many of them suffered terribly for the cause they so ardently supported.

When New Jersey signer Richard Stockton returned to his home after signing the Declaration, he learned that British troops were coming to arrest him. He fled to a neighbor’s house with his wife and children. But a Loyalist, as supporters of the British cause were called, betrayed the family’s hiding place. Here is how Merle Sinclair and Annabel Douglas McArthur describe what happened to him:

“The judge was dragged from bed and beaten, then thrown into prison. This distinguished jurist, who had worn the handsome robes of a colonial court, now shivered in a common jail, abused and all but starved.

“A shocked Congress arranged for his parole. Invalided by the harsh treatment he had received, he returned to [his home at] Morven to find his furniture and clothing burned, his fine horses stolen, and his library—one of the finest private collections in the country—completely destroyed. The hiding place of exquisite family silver, hastily buried, had been betrayed by a servant.

“The Stockton’s were so destitute that they had to accept charity. For the judge’s fortune was gone, too. He had pledged it and his life to his country. He lost both. He did not live to see the Revolution won.”

John Morton, a delegate from Pennsylvania, was the first of the signers to die. His last words for his family, before his death in April 1777 (just eight months after he signed the Declaration), were, “…tell them that they will live to see the hour when they shall acknowledge it to have been the most glorious service I ever rendered to my country.”

The following month, Button Gwinnett, the commander in chief of Georgia’s militia, was badly wounded in a duel with a political opponent. He died a few days later—the second signer to die.

But by and large, the signers of the Declaration of Independence were a hardy bunch. Three of them lived until their 90s—a remarkable accomplishment in a time when most men did not see their 50th birthday.

Only two of the signers were bachelors. Sixteen of them married twice. Records indicate that at least two, and perhaps as many as six, were childless. But the other 50 signers were a prolific lot, having a total of 325 children between them! William Ellerey of Rhode Island had 17 children; Roger Sherman of Connecticut had 15.

Fifty years after the united colonies declared their independence from Britain, plans were made for jubilant celebrations on July 4, 1826. Only three of the original signers were still alive—Charles Carroll, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. Here is how Sinclair and McArthur describe what occurred that day:

“In a dramatic climax that even their agile minds would not have contemplated, these two principals in the struggle for Independence left the nation awestricken and touched, by dying hours apart on the Fourth of July. Jefferson died at one o’clock in the afternoon, Adams toward evening.”

Ten days earlier, Jefferson had written the mayor of Washington, expressing his regret that ill health prevented him from coming to the nation’s new Capitol to join the festivities.

“I should, indeed, with peculiar delight, have met… with the small band, the remnant of that host of worthies, who joined with us on that day, in the bold and doubtful election we were to make for our country, between the submission or the sword.”

And he concluded by writing, “Let the annual return of this day forever refresh our recollection of these rights, and an undiminished devotion to them.”

As part of that “undiminished devotion,” we are delighted to provide you with a copy of They Signed For Us. Please click here for it.

And please share this copy of Straight Talk with others you know, so they may enjoy it as well. Just forward this column with a short note, urging them to read about the incredibly brave patriots who won our freedom for us when They Signed For Us.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

Fantastic story! Thanks so much for posting it, as a veteran it made me cry. These brave men fought and endured many hardships for us, they did not simply sign a piece of paper and fly back to the Hamptons for August recess like our Senators today.

This story is our legacy as Americans. We must preserve this legacy by any means necessary. This story must be taught in our schools and aired on television on national holidays. This story must be shouted from the rooftops, and through bullhorns on Pennsylvania Ave. This story of our history must not be perverted or rewritten as some are now attempting. We are once again facing tyrrany. Today’s situation mimmics that of the 1770′s. Oh that we may have the stregnth to continue this fight with the courage our founding fathers displayed.

Yes, our elected officials in Washington are betraying us. Too long there has been a “silent majority” who have sat, done and said nothing. It is time for a new Conservative Peaceful Revolution. It is time to speak out and let voices be heard. It is time to be proactive.

    Hello Chip,
Pleased to meet you ! ! ! We must get back to our roots to understand who we are, how we came to be, and what we have to defend. Eternal vigilance being the virtue of the hour where freedom is concerned, must be based upon past historic American fact as well as a present understanding of the present undermining of all we hold dear. Misguided zeal will do us no good. Thanks Chip for helping us to understand our roots so that we can know who we are and what we must do at this particularly perilous time. Happy Independence Day and may we continue to seek God’s blessing on America ! ! ! – barnabus

Our great country has been moving to the left( Liberal) for some time and started taking great steps when Kennedy was elected. If we look at our history ,men and women came to this country for two basic reasons , Freedom and and a chance to make somthing for them selves.( Independence) They came from all over the world get their piece of this great nation. They spoke many langues but they learn to speak English even with their accents and they became Americans. These pepole relied on them selves to sucseed some made it and other failed but tried again and again. If people needed help they got it from their neighbors or their place of worship not the government. The biggest thing the government did was offer free land ( what a joke) It was only free if you were ready to roll up your sleeves and sweat and bleed for it that is not free. Yes our nation did some thing that were not right example ,the treatment of the Native American (As we called them) and slavery I still have a had time thinging of one man owning another, and it still goes onto day in this country. We as a Nation owe a lot to the people who were brought here by force they turned a very bad situation for them to a positive by their labor and many invention and their scholars were in a great part made this countur as great as it is.Today we and now all Ameaican we can’t make up for those past deeds by attemping to get even or pay back what ever some want to call,it . We must work togeater to continue to be great each of us must get up and work and work harder each ady to get better to acheve our goals we don’t need or should we want the government to give us anythig but the freedon and chances the Decoration and Consitution gives us. I ask you to go back to the days when the two document were being debated and ask what our forfather would think of what we have become and where the present leaders and trying to lead us. Last but not least if they would approve of 1 for English and 2 for Spanish and of girls marrying girls and boy marrying boys I think they would of added a few more line the thoes great documents.

Went to school in Boston before WWII where Edward
Rowe Snow, Boston historian, often referred to the area as the cradle of liberty and instilled patriotism in his students. Have often wondered how the people of that area could keep sending the likes of Ted Kennedy to DC.

    Chip,
As a 66 year old, disabled Alabama “Redneck” … I sincerely and greatly appreciate your article. I am afraid that mass apathy and complacency among “We the People” has allowed a mass form of degredation to fall upon this once Great Nation. Back when our roots were generally based on Godly Moral Principles and fairly close conformity to our “then present” Constitution … and when there was reasonably honest media response, along with fairly honest politicians(who later selfishly morphed into liars and con-artists) that seemed interested in all of their constituents and not just the “important ones” who could “repay them for their support”, yes, our Nation was approaching a short-lived greatness.
Then came the awareness of Socialism/Communism, among We the People AND among those in the political circle. As the “seeds” sprung up, any questionable “news” became known as a “Conspiracy Theory”(governmentally associated and initiated in order to establish the intended “smoke screen”). Under the cover of darkness, closed door meetings, lies and developement of a government censored media, America began it’s transition to Socialism/Communism. The very same system that we fought, died and spent billions to supposedly suppress and hopefully destroy(and we were “officially” told that “Communism Was Dead”, only to find that it was “on the move” in the Nation where, we were assured, it would “never survive”) this menace to the world.

Sadly, I have to say that I have never seen so many supposedly intellegent people who would easily qualify as members of the “Jay Leno Allstar” group. They obviously never overcame “Woodstock” and chose to believe all the lies, without any proof of evidence. Russian leaders continually bragged about the fact that they would conquer America from the inside, without firing a shot. One even said that if give one generation of America’s youth, he could assure the above. I detest that I am a member of this “ungodly” generation. The masses first rejected God and then our Constitution. Considering the price that the majority of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Founding Fathers of our Constitution had to pay for their most magnificant actions, “We the People” have sold them out and spit upon their graves and the graves of their family members. Thousands upon thousands gave their lives, limbs and minds, with the idea that they were protecting and defending America and their families and friends from the dreaded scourge of Communism/Socialism. “We the (Apathetic and Complacent) People” have effectively made the journey to the graves of these men and the homes of their loved ones and done no less than spit and urinate upon their graves and spirits. Though some of us will NEVER give up our Patriotic Efforts for the salvation, both physically and spiritually, of this Nation … I still must ask their forgiveness for existing among the generation that “sold them out”. Prayerfully, I ask that “We the People” awaken from our slumber and accept God, stand up for Our Constitution and pray and fight for America’s full restoration.

I don’t mean to put a damper on great information but this is a wake up call. We have had apathy for far too long. Now our future as the greatest nation is of concern to me because our children will pay for our past thoughtlessness.

    YOU MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO!

      virgilk

Next time make sure you mention what your video is about and the title of the video so people can decide if they want to see it or not.

The title “YOU MUST WATCH THIS VIDEO!” is very misleading. Your video about the Muslim population rising, what’s new? Their women are smart and are NOT influenced by HOLLYWOOD’s lifestyle and ABORTION is not allowed in their culture.

You said, “Now our future as the greatest nation is of concern to me because our children will pay for our past thoughtlessness” Oh, really????

      • virgilk

Yes, really. The laws we have are being ignored by our Legislators. Immigration laws are not only being ignored but quotas are being raised on Legal Immigration. No nation can survive unlimited Immigration. For the last ten years or more we are told we have 12 million Illegal Immigrants when the real number is closer to 38 million on top of the millions of Legal Immigrants. Illegal Immigration is now he biggest problem the EU, Australia and other nations are facing now with no end in sight. Estimates, by those who track immigration, are that the U. S. will have an unsustainable population of over 450 million by 2045. Ignorance, apathy and Political Correctness have led to this situation. Apathy is the Mother of our destruction.

The Video was well explained at the beginning and it was a choice of each person weather to continue watching or not. Those who were not interested could simply click it off. Those who wanted the information continued. The ugly truth is more than some can take so they choose to let their Apathy make the decision.

        • Biore

virgilk, I have not watched the video and I am not going to, because I don’t want to get viruses. Youtube is not a reliable source to get your news, and anyone can upload videos to promote their agenda.

Well, virgilk what should we do with illegal immigrants since this Democrat Congress wants them here?

          Virgilk,

America can’t control Islamists’ birth-rate in the Middle East nor should we hate them and start another “Proxy War” in the Middle East.

The biggest coming issue is that Obama and his congress will legalize millions of illegal immigrants who are “currently in America”, and don’t control our borders in Arizona, California and Texas and in other states, so expect more are coming each day.

Virgilk, what do you suggest we should do with 20 million illegal immigrants (but you said 38 million)?? And how do you stop your congress and Obama’s actions??

You should answer Biore’s question: “ virgilk what should we do with illegal immigrants since this Democrat Congress wants them here?”

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Well, thats party true. If their women so much as reveal a thought on their own part, they will get their head cut off. If their husband beats them, and they so much as say a word to anyone about it, they get beat some more or killed. They are nothing but puppets of fear even in their own house. What a shame.

  • virgilk

If you had watched the video, I got no virus why should you, you would see it is too late to stop. Our birth rate is to small. Islamists have a birth rate of 8+ per family. Our Birth rate is 1.3, Hispanics 2 or so. What it comes down to is we are not having enough children to replace those that die. In a few generations we will have a Muslim world. I’m 70 so it’s the children we should worry about.

    • DaveH

      Virgil,
There is a simple non-confrontational way to preserve our freedom without taking it away from others. That is to get the government out of the business of bailing people out for their mistakes. Their are numerous government programs out there that make it easier for those who want large families to do so on the backs of those that don’t want large families.
Income tax law is one. Why should someone who has kids (and I have two) get a tax break for that? If anything, the people with kids should pay more as they certainly are going to consume more government services. And there are numerous welfare programs that also make it easier for people to have large families. I’m sure that if people had to pay their own way for large families, the family sizes would go down.
When someone else has to pay for our mistakes then where is the incentive to not make those mistakes? Socialism rewards the foolish people at the expense of the responsible people. So that is what we need to change. Adding more laws to the already oversize law books is not the solution to preserving our freedom.
We must start choosing leaders who will get us back to individual liberty and individual responsibility.

      • virgilk

Dave. You are correct in everything you say. Our illegal Immigrants cost our economy at least $2,800 each more than they contribute to the economy and only 2 to 3 % are Agri-workers. The rest are in low skill jobs that our poorest people need. Blacks had the Drywall trade in California but is now close to 95% Latino. The same goes for yard maintenance, roofing, home building and service jobs etc. The growth in population is only because of Immigrants. Americans are not even replacing ourselves. This is what will make Latinos and Asians the majority and Blacks will 3rd with Whites being the minority within 30 years or so. The problem is that even the Latinos will be replaced by Muslims in 50 or so years. They are bragging right now that the world will be dominated by them without firing a shot. The birth rate is on their side. It will be hell. In some small European countries they are already 15 to 25% of population and are killing the economies. Our Legislators are too interested in votes to pay attention. They will not close the borders and amnesty is coming for 38 Million aready here. As soon as the word goes out many more will be here with no way of knowing when they came. We are so screwed. On top of all this good news hyper-inflation is on is way.

        • DaveH

          Virgil,
Yes, it is scary. But they have been doing their thing for centuries, and have not been successful yet. I believe the main thing we are doing wrong now is wasting our resources in Iraq and Afghanistan. When we finally leave (if ever) they will just go back to where they were in a short time. Also, we need to pull our troops out of Europe and let them suffer the fate of their own follies. Again, people, whether on a local level or a national level only learn if they have to pay for their own mistakes.
I do believe that we needed to answer 9/11. But I think we should have hammered the countries who sheltered and trained the perpetrators hard and then get out. Let them rebuild their own economies. And let them know that every time they mess with us they will pay dearly. Then leave them alone. I think Theodore Roosevelt’s “Walk softly and carry a big stick” was right on.
Imagine, for instance, that we had Mexican troops stationed in the US. Would that make us love Mexico? I doubt it. Then why do we think we are making friends in Iraq and Afghanistan? We need to bring our soldiers home, get our economy back on track, and prepare to defend our country vigorously against any future attack.
Also, this government growth that is currently under way is just going to make it easier for some fanatical faction, whether Muslim, Communist, or any other, to take control of our country. We need to reduce the size of our government dramatically and get back individual liberty. Currently, we serve the government, not visa-versa as they love to claim in the major media. There is only one party that wants to get us back to the freedom this country once had, and that is the Libertarian Party. Many think that we are throwing away our votes on Libertarians, but I think this way: If we vote for the lesser of two evils, just because they are electible, we are never going to get our freedom back. If enough people start “throwing their votes away” and vote Libertarian, then the media will be hard pressed to ignore them. So then their numbers will eventually grow to a large enough size to win.
Unfortunately, the Republicans have lost their way, so we can’t count on them to restore our freedom. And the Democrats have (in my lifetime) never respected our freedom.

        • Mike

I agree totally about voting for every Libertarian that is on the ballot. I was only able to vote for one (Bob Barr) this last go-round because they are not even running in my district or local area.

You must do research before going to the polls. In the absence of term limits, a no-confidence vote, or a third-party candidate…. I generally vote out the incumbent unless his/her opponent is shady.

As for as 9/11…. your thought process is correct that it’s purpose is to depleat our resources, spend money we don’t have, harden our troops, and further give up freedoms in the name of security. Who wants this? When you answer this you will know who is behind the attacks (and subsequent building implosions.)

I agree. Like a pal of mine says. He made the decision years ago, him and his wife, not to have kids. They get property taxed to pay for the school systems. Another friend of ours has 9 kids. He gets taxed and pays the same amount, as their houses are of pretty much equal value and thats what we are taxed on here in Indiana. So why does a guy that utilized the schools with 9 kids, not have to pay more? Why does the guy who doesnt have or want kids have to pay for others? Why do seniors who have allready paid their kids way through still have to pay? Then they do stupid things like, when passing the law to allow Indiana to have a lottery here, they said the lottery had to put like 4 percent into the school systems. They agreed. They do. Problem is, the idiot’s that make the budget, now take 4 percent of the budget out and place it elsewhere, because they are getting 4 percent from the lottery, so it didnt help the school systems at all, because of the way the people in charge prostitute the law and the budgets. And the same bozo’s in higher up offices, reward places like GM and Chrysler, who have proven they cant properly operate a business, and they give them billions of dollars. Rewards for bad behavior. Its not right, but as long as our political and legal system is run by lawyers and judges, its going to be corrupt, because these guys are parasites, leeches on society. They are predators and they gobble up millions, all of them, at the detriment of the country. What do you call 1000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A start.

  • virgilk

Dave. We see things that are happening and we agree on most points. What do you think the odds are of a building collapsing in its own footprint without controlled demolition? Then what are the odds of two buildings doing that.? Then the odds of a third building that was no hit by anything, also collapsing in its own foot print? I wonder who we would have attacked for 9-11 or would we have just hung some people? Why did building 7 have no people to evacuate? Billions disappeared in those three buildings. Wonder where it went?
We are now in a financial situation that was set in motion by Bill Clinton when he got Congress to OK risky mortgages. Baby Bush signed an agreement with Mexico and Canada to get rid of our borders. We are spending money than we can ever pay off and the Feds are printing funny money that will have no value in the near future. If there is ever a time for the Banks to get their One World Order that Papa Bush said was coming, it is very close if it isn’t here now. Our rights are being taken. The Constitution is being ignored. Government is taking over businesses.
We will be taxed into the poorhouse by Cap and Trade and Government run Health Care. We are being controlled as never before, by the FDA, EPA and others. People are too apathetic to pay attention and I believe the tipping point has been reached.
Ron Paul is only now getting the attention he deserved long ago. I agree, both of our major parties are crapola. A lot needs to be done.

    • James

Virgilk, I agree, three steeled-framed buildings collapsing in their own footprints, because of fire, is impossible. When a plane crashed into the Empire State Bulding it barely quivered. No steel-framed bulding has ever just burned down. There were 4 planes hi-jacked and 4 buildings destroyed or damaged. When the fourth plane didn’t show up at Bldg. 7, they demolished it anyway. There is footage that I’ve seen (sometimes on Restore The Republic’s website) where the squibs of exploding charges can be seen just below the plane impact floor, for 2 or 3 floors. For 2 weeks after the twin towers collapsed, there were still molten pools of steel below ground level. This could not have resulted from a mere jet-fuel fire. Nor do I believe the third hi-jacked plane flew into the Pentagon – it never got there – a remote controlled drone is more likely the culprit. All of which suggests there was foreknowledge of the attack and collusion in it. An Israeli group was atop a nearby bulding, with a tripod camera aimed at the twin towers, waiting for the hi-jacked planes to show. That’s foreknowledge. It would be interesting to know how many days it would take a demolition crew to install all of those charges.?

Don’t forget that the only thing to survive the jet crashes were muslim passports. No black box… no European passports… nothing! These passports just launched out of the flames and into CIA hands? They must think we are retarded to believe this garbage. Sadly, they are correct.

I have heard that it would take at least 2 weeks and engineers’ planning to set the required charges to “pull” the buildings.

Those buildings were specifically designed to withstand 2 jet crashes each!! SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED! One would not take it down. Two would not take it down.

The owner of the buildings was on television saying that they made the decision to “pull” building 7. Yet they still report that it just fell down??? They must think we are retarded, self-absorbed, drugged-up, simpletons. Sadly, they are correct.

Mike, a cardinal rule for terrorists is to carry no personal identification – especially on a suicidal mission – at least two of the ‘identified’ hi-jackers were later found to be alive and well in the Arab mideast. I didn’t know about the WTC owner admiting to the demolition of bldg. 7, it must have slipped out – lawfully, demolishing a building voids the insurance. (Would appeciate the evidence of that, if available.) As to our retardation, I see it more as chicken-livered. It’s easier to believe in a lie than to accept a truth that requires our time, money and effort. The truth here is that Bush administration insiders knew which buldings were targeted, and when they would be hit. That’s heavy.

          For those who care…

It would not let me post the link… but google “Larry Silverstein”, owner and insurance beneficiary of the World Trade Center. He is interviewed on TV and he talks about the decision to “pull” buiding 7, a term used by demolition crews refering to imploding a building with explosives.

When questioned later he says he meant to “pull the firemen out”… although you can clearly tell what he meant, there were no firemen in building 7, nor would he be able to make the decision to pull them out even if there were.

    Hey everyone,
Try this. Find a copy of the Declaration of Independence and with a yellow highlighter mark every passage in the documents list of grievances that pertains to our current government. You’re going to see alot of yellow. Enough yellow to make you see RED!! King George has returned!!!

    • Mike

The difference this time is that the government has the technology and weapons to make it more difficult to relvolt if they declare martial law. It is going to be one hell of a civil/revolutionary war.

some of you guys in here are whacked out. The stinking World Trade Centers collapsed because they were a hollow core, with no cross supports. It was a bad design. Where the planes hit, took out a lot of the one side and part of the other, with the tons of jet fuel burning melting solid steel, and the weight of the above floors, once it got weak at the impact, was enough weight to make it collapse like it did, a vertical domino effect. Any engineer knows this, and those that are trying to say they saw other detonations are mass conspiracy theorists. Get over it. We were attacked by the muslims, and their plan actually did more damage than I think they thought it would. I have seen engineers pour over the evidence, and do computer imaging, and it clearly shows exactly why these buildings collapsed. There was no cross supports going on. It was a hollow core building, with all the supports along the outer walls. Thats all. For you to think our own government would do this, shows your utter ignorance. I hate the damn left wing democrats, and I would even try to blame them for doing something like this.

yeah, these people are loons, sure nuff.it amazes me really just what people will allow themselves to beleive.talk about deluded! good lord,we get attacked by crazy assed terrorrists and they blaim our own govt!!! jesus, these folks need some SERIOUS mental help!!i’ve had discussions myself with some of these loonies over the years and they are shotout.

  • keith

now we got conspiracy nuts proclaiming the wtc buildings were hit by our own govt! you people are nuts.i.ve been in the const trade for 26 yrs and have worked in more than one highrise over the years and you peoples theories are pure idiocy,i suppose yall think the moon landings were faked and area 51 has alien bodies being held there.GIVE ME A BREAK!i was also in the usmc for 18 yrs and was in beirut in 83.i saw for MYSELF how crazy the muslims are and to what lengths these loons will go to,to accomplish their twisted neferious planns.i really don’t feel in the mood to get into the facts of what a 747 flying bomb would realistically do to structure, but if a kamakazi aircraft can sink a carrier(hornet & lexington),i’m sure a much much bigger aircraft would bring down a mere building.this is crazy, saying our own govt did it,what utter non-sense!!!

Jet Fuel doesn’t burn hot enough to melt steel. It is nothing more than a high grade of Kerosene. A friend of mine helped build the Towers and agreed, there is no way they came down without help. When a jet is hijacked, the first thing that is supposed to happen, is scramble our fighters to escort the hijacked craft back down or other action as needed. Our jets were told to stand down. Do some research before you cast stones.

A gradual indifference to the wisdom of our Founding Fathers has much to do with how America came to be mired in this mess. This indifference has, in effect, created many generations of wannabe British in America.
Now that we’re stuck with a reincarnated King George (in addition to many generations of wannabe British), the cure won’t be simple or fast. While I am not the American history scholar I’d like to be, I suspect that one of the things the Founding Fathers did was to understate the significance of domestic enemies and treason.
Alexander Hamilton played no small part in America’s many messes. His paranoid arrogance has had a life of its own, and it will not be easy to extinguish the spirit of this domesticated ‘abomination.’
If anyone has any thoughts about this, I’d like to know if you think the Founding Fathers saw Hamilton as one of America’s first domestic enemies. Hamilton’s freedom-hating schemes have done to America what no invading army could have done.
Somehow, many Americans are oblivious to Hamilton’s disgusting plans. It is as though Democrats and hordes of progressives and anarchists
idolize Hamilton and his nation-corrupting influences.
