The Sorry State Of Obama’s Disunion

February 4, 2011 by

The Sorry State Of Obama’s Disunion

Is it just me? Or did you also think that “America’s greatest orator” came across as flat, dull and uninspired in his State of the Union speech a week ago?

Peggy Noonan, The Wall Street Journal columnist who is one of my all-time favorite observers of the Washington scene, certainly did. Listen to how she summed up what she heard:

“Rhetorically the speech lay there like a lox, as if the document itself knew it was dishonest, felt embarrassed, and wanted to curl up quietly in a corner of the podium and hide. But the president insisted on reading it.”

No, POTUS did not give the SOTUS I expected. He did not move decisively to the center. But I did get one thing right: I predicted a week ago that the State of the Union Speech (SOTUS) by the President of the United States (POTUS) would be filled with promises and platitudes. This one sure was.

But looking at what appeared to be a bored and disbelieving audience, I got the impression that hardly anyone in the House believed him. To be honest, I didn’t either. The image that kept coming back to me during his 62-minute oration was of a man standing there with one arm stretched out — and the other behind his back with his fingers crossed.

Still, I have to admit that there was some very clever oratory. Whichever wordsmith on his staff decided to substitute the word “investment” for “spending” is an absolute genius. A genius whose talents are promoting the dark side, true. But it’s a brilliant rhetorical cover for one of the most damaging legacies of this administration.

And what about that promise to “freeze” Federal spending for the next five years? The man has been throwing money around with such abandon that he’s given drunken sailors a bad name. And now we’re supposed to applaud when he says, “Hey, no more increases for five years. Let’s just hold things where they are, okay?”

That is akin to sending a son off to college with a brand-new credit card. For two years he spends like crazy on wine, women and song. Oh, and maybe a book or two. You bail him out again and again, but no sooner have you paid off the staggering balance then there he goes again, running it up to the limit.

Finally, you’ve had enough. You threaten to take the card and cut it into tiny pieces. You tell him that from now on, he’ll be on a strict cash allowance. His response is to promise you that, if you’ll give the card back, he won’t spend any more in the future than he did in the past. Would you accept this as a fair deal? (If you would, let me tell you about some swampland I’d like to sell you.)

When it comes to healthcare, the President urged his audience not to “re-fight the battles of the last two years” but to fix what needs fixing and move on. Nice try, Mr. President, but it ain’t gonna work. In fact, as you know only too well, the House voted the previous week to abolish the entire healthcare monstrosity that you’re so proud of.

Plus, a Federal judge just ruled that a huge part of your bill is unConstitutional. More than half of the States have already initiated legal action to get the measure overturned or at least blocked in their jurisdictions. This fight ain’t half-begun, sir. And no amount of pious platitudes from you will change that.

The media reported after the SOTU that the President was interrupted 80 times by applause. You can bet that the White House had orchestrated every palm slap more carefully than a State Dinner. As I watched all of those politicians jump up and down every other sentence or so, I was reminded of a giant game of Whack-A-Mole. Up, down, up, down. All of it was about as spontaneous as a Pittsburgh Steelers’ pass play. Even the participants seemed bored by their actions.

But to be fair, I have to say that there were parts of President Barack Obama’s speech I felt like applauding myself. Such as when he said, “I am prepared to work with Democrats and Republicans to protect our borders [and] enforce our laws.” My problem is that I don’t believe him. Had he been Pinocchio, I think his nose would have grown a foot. In other words (and it saddens me to say this about a U.S. President), I think he was lying through his teeth.

Oh, and what about the doozey that “a parade of lobbyists has rigged the tax code?” Can you name a single lobbyist who ever cast a vote on the floor of the House or Senate? Me neither. But Obama and his buddies cast thousands. Let’s put the blame for our tax code squarely where it belongs, Mr. President — on you and your cronies.

I did like the President’s promise to lower the corporate tax rate “for the first time in 25 years.” I hope he delivers on this one; he’ll have the support of every Tea Partier in Congress if he does.

You probably never thought of it, but many of the most successful companies in America make a huge chunk of their profits — often more than 50 percent — from their sales in other countries. If you’ve traveled abroad recently you know it sometimes seems there is a Starbucks on every street corner, a McDonald’s next to it and Coca-Cola everywhere.

But most of those companies don’t bring their profits back to the U.S. of A. Why should they, when this country has the highest tax on corporate profits in the Western world? If you were the CEO, wouldn’t you keep the money overseas and put it to work there? That’s certainly what your shareholders — the real owners of the business — would want.

And how about the goal of giving 80 percent of us access to high-speed rail in the next 25 years? If people really wanted this, they’d be willing to pay for it. And a bunch of businesses would be eager to put up the money for it. No, this is just more of the same “we know better than you and we’re going to force you to do what we want” that’s led to the astronomical idiocy of ethanol, wind farms and electric cars.

Bah humbug to all the Soviet-style central planners who want to take away our freedom to choose. And then he dares to make a joke about how great it will be when we can travel around the country “without the pat-down.” Who do we have to thank for that gross indecency, Mr. President?

How did you like hearing “This is our generation’s Sputnik moment” from the same person who gutted NASA?

But for absolute effrontery — for a pompous promise that he knew was totally insincere, even as the words tumbled from his mouth — nothing Obama said that night could match this: “Every day families sacrifice to live within their means. They deserve a government that does the same.”

If you think Obama believes a single word of that you shouldn’t be trusted with a dull knife, much less the right to vote.

“We do big things” was how our panderer in chief ended his address. Indeed we do, Mr. President. And one of the “big things” we’re going to do next is find someone to replace you in the Oval Office.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

    Bravo Chip Wood, Bravo! Obama’s State of the Union speech is not one week old. Has anyone seen a SOTU fall so far so fast? Then, pfffft. What we got were empty platitudes. “We won’t be buried under a mountain of debt.” Heck, we’re already buried. He even had the nerve to say, “I do not accept second place for the United States of America.” Does anybody really believe that?

    You would think it would make more sense for the administration to focus on creating jobs in industries that hire lots of workers. But many of those jobs, manufacturing, energy production, don’t reflect liberal politics. So Obama is big on ‘jobs of the future. Americans cannot wait for Obama’s future.

    I loved that he called out Republicans, “Neither party should delay or obstruct every single bill just because they can.” I loved that he called out Democrats, “we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve problems, not run for the hills.”
    I thought it was one of those “do as I say, not as I do” moments.

    How many times did he mention “joblessness,” “unemployment,” or “unemployed”? Zero.
    How many times he mentioned foreclosures? Zero.
    He did mention China four times in the speech.

    Do the math. China 4, joblessness 0

      I see Barry as what he is, a 100% total “CON ARTIST,” with a very tainted backround as well his ideologies that are rotten from the core outward.

      So Barry can spin all the cotton candy he wants with his pretzel logic rhetoric.
      But I think more people are waking up and seeing him for the “PURE CON ARTIST” he is.
      Yet saddly I also think its just way to late as we are going to fall as a nation and what we all see going on in the streets of Egypt is not long for the streets of any town USA.
      Just wait until the cost of food doubles, then doubles again a few months after that. Thats when the real crap will hit the fan here.
      So we can all then revisit just how well that “Investment” gig is working out.
      Just about as well as that “Transparency” gig has worked out thus far, I think its called Opaque as far as what we have seen.

      “The mind is like a parachute, it has to be OPEN to WORK.”

        JeffH – Technically, he didn’t lie about not letting America be in 2nd place. He intends for us to be at the bottom of the heap.

        • JeffH

          kate8, good point. lol!

        • Jana

          Maybe he meant 2nd place from the bottom.

      • Working Man

        I agree, but there is a significiant mumber of Americans who are too
        dumbed down to realize what Barry said, and all they are thinking
        about is who will be the next American Idol, and what apps can
        they apply to their new electronic gizzmo.

      Just what else do you expect for your muslim president. I didn’t vote for this crap in the White House. It is time to get rid of this muslim.

      • JR

        I do not care if he is a Muslim, Christian, Pagan, Buddhist, Atheist or whatever …AS LONG AS HE DOES HIS JOB and he does it to serve this country in accordance with the constitution and not tries to destroy this country.

        There is NO clause in the constitution that specifies that the president has to adhere to a certain believe or religion.
        Neither does it say a Muslim can not be the president.
        I hold the constitution as the ultimate law, and so, I do NOT care what religion or political inclinations he has….

        as long as he serves this country according to the constitution …period.

        So to all that call him names because of his political leanings and religion I say, get over it, grow up, find something else to bitch about.
        There are other shortcomings of this “president” such as his obvious disregard of the constitution and what it stands for…..but please don’t spout out accusations or make a big deal out of something that is perfectly legal and perfectly constitutional…because once you do that, the world will just turn away and laugh at you and will discount all the other arguments you may have…even though those may be just and real.

        • FreedomFighter

          Obama considers the constitution obsolete and ignores it. He is currently and blatently still pushing ObamaCare–unconstitutional.

          Obama is currently destroying America, yet fools and of course communists still defend him.

          In my opinion, Obama is setting the stage for civil war in America.

            Obama is called the leader of the “FREE WORLD”, and this is a really true statement, for he wants so much “FREE STUFF” for all of his supporters.

          • Bob

            The constitution is flawed, and it needs to be a living document. Why can’t repubs admit it?

          • Gail LB

            I agree with you. The POTUS is laying the ground for civil war when his goon armies will seize control from legitimate government. LOOK how he and the rest of his troika have undermined the economy; used back door methods to subvert oil drilling; and has created a climate of dependency never seen before. Inflation is a growing factor not only for us but for the whole world and his financial advisors Bernake and Geitnr tell us the economy is recovering. Hmph!

          • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

            YOu have absolutely nailed it. The civil war will give him the excuse to impose marshall law and use the military to subdue the “unrully masses” and install himself as “president for life”, his, and Soros’ goal from the start.

          • Vigilant

            Bob says, “The constitution is flawed, and it needs to be a living document. Why can’t repubs admit it?”

            Only idiots can’t see that treating the Constitution as a “living document” is what has caused most of our problems. “Living document” is code for disregarding the rule of law and passing any current whim of society into law without reference to legality.

            The Constitution is a living document in the sense that it contains its own remedies for shortcomings. It’s called the amendment process, somwething the leftists don’t recognize because it would rarely if ever give them the outcome they wish.

        • Pat T

          Bill Cosby would have made us an excellent president. He is an All- American and loves the country and the flag. You had better CARE if the united states president is MUSLIM because it means DICTATOR CONTROL. Only another muslim would accept Muslim as a RELIGION ? Stop being STUPID and do some homework. Muslims hide behind a veil calling themselves a RELIGION. Their vocus is not religion, but WORLD CONTROL–you dont understand this ? You are very ignorant if you dont understand. If you want Hitler back, just visit the white house; you and all your stupid airhead buddies who put him there.

          • Fl Scott

            Pat T, You are right on track with your comment! Most “people” that did vote for that useless anti-American were mostly brainwashed college kids and lazy blacks that don’t want to work that only voted because this guy is not white. Sad situation we are in and we all let this happen to ourselves too. It will be up to us to take this once great country back from the tyrannical”government”.

          • Francis Forrester

            Hello Pat T:

            You’re either uncouth or you’re the smartest person in America. Choose.

            As the constitution demands, individuals put forth their candidacy and primaries were held and nominations were contested and won. Presidential elections were held and won. If after all these Americans elected a muslim and a Kenyan, then there is something wrong with the psyche of this country. This goes to show that those who hold this view, that this President is not an American citizen, and, or he is a muslim, must be insulting the intelligence of all that voted, whether for or against Obama.

        • dave

          JR,Please understand one thing about this guy!(I still don’t refer to him as the president)He is bound by his religious beliefs to destroy us this coumtry and all it stands for!End of game, no other explanations ,no excuses,He is what he is A distroyer of democracy,freedoms of any kind, and last but should be first to us Christianity!

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

            Dave, “Hear Hear”!__I refer to Obama as the man temporarily sitting in as POTUS!

          • JeffH

            dave, “He is bound by his religious beliefs”? Maybe you mean his radical Marxist ideology? I suppose some might look at Marxism a religion.

          • Bus

            I call him our affirmative action president. Elected by the brainless products of our state education system who have pushed the equality issue for the past 30 years. Weren’t we all just proud to have a black man in the office!! And now we find out he really wasn’t qualified and nobody took the time to properly vet him before he was in the power position to lock up all of his records. If he is such a smart guy as his admirerers claim, lets see some grades from those colleges he claims to have attended.

          • Francis

            Hey Dave.

            Please relax. Please forgive me if I’m wrong. I just believe you have too much issues with race in America. If we want America to show leadership in the world, and guys like you still shamelessly display the ugliness of American past, I have bad news for you. You are going to have a heart attack.

            I believe the strength of this nation lies not in it’s division, but in unity. We go to war as Americans and die as Americans. And we cannot, and must not discriminate other Americans when we come home.

        • patrick H.T. paine

          “To conquer, first DIVIDE!!!”

          There are currently 0 elected officials, who follow the constitution,
          or keep their oath to it, and this can be extended to everyone in
          government, at every level.

          You can kvetch all you want, the solution is neither demican’s or
          rebublicrats, or tea partier’s, co-opted or not. To believe that
          is the first division.

          The second division is the IGNORANCE, of the constitution, and how it
          was “transformed” by the Great Depression, the social security act,
          the 1939 capitulation of the Supreme Court, and the Codification of
          U.S. Law into titles, the adoption of the UCC, and the elimination
          of ( common ) law and equity, as valid jurisdictions…..replacing
          them with admiralty and maritime, first at the federal and then
          at the state level. ( please note the number of people that
          are talking about this…..and the sources of information available
          regarding it )

          The third division, is perceived self interest……due to the recent
          stupidity of the financial crisis, a majority of the population has
          suffered a negative impact, rather than the previous stagnation, so
          the concern here is that things will get worse…….for them…..
          unfortunately these problems are systemic, and have exposed the
          foundational weaknesses that underly what had been the conventional
          wisdom…….that there was time to get around to dealing with these
          things eventually in the future…, the conventional wisdom is
          ….delay the inevitable as long as possible….which means…..
          not today.

          The rest of the divisions are myriad……among the various groups
          that remain……..and each will have their own “solution”……
          for what ails them…….which will not be a solution for what ails

          Do not ask for whom the bell tolls….

        • kate8

          JR – The problem with being Muslim and president is that Islam demands he place his religion above everything else. We can’t have a president who is loyal first to Islam. This is a real victory for Muslims.

          In case you’ve missed it, Islam is not just another religion. It is a political/governing system (sharia), that is wholly incompatible with our Constitutional Republic.

        • Lewis Munn

          I think the religion of the President is very important. Conservative Christian would not lie. Radical right Christian does not obey Jesus’ commands for love and is bad. Liberal “Christianity” allows evil to have sway…tolerance. Muslim, well, read the Qur’an and see what it DEMANDS, and hang on to your head! Same for other religions. Some even are against education!!

          So the Religious faith of our President will greatly influence his actions, especially in the tight places. And his actions can greatly influence the morals of the people, especially the leaders around him.

          Christianity says do not tell lies, or hide truth. Is Obama doing that? Is he by his actions and works, then a Christian? If he says he ia, but his actions say otherwise, well…what can he be?

          • happyday49

            I usually make sure the information I pass on is a truth or fact. I have not researched, however, I was listening to one of the conservative stations and a quest had said that the Koran(sp) encourages lies if necessary as long as it takes them to their desired results. So, they are practicing their teachings.

          • Kinetic1

            So what you are saying is that when a Christian Conservative like George W. Bush lies, he suddenly becomes a Radical right Christian? No, that’s not it. You said that a Radical right Christian does not obey Jesus’ commands for love and is bad. So what do you call all these conservative Christian politicians who are lying to us?

          • Vicki

            Kenetic1 says
            “So what do you call all these conservative Christian politicians who are lying to us?”

          • Francis

            Hello Lewis.

            What a shocker. A conservative christian will not lie???? Really? I don’t like to insult people’s intelligence or lack thereof. What a damn liar you are. Perhaps you’re denying the cover-up of consevative hypocrites who blame others for transgressions until they’re caught? I still feel bad for them regardless. There is not a perfect person out there. I for one, I don’t apply that kind of labels. I guess it’s because I’m not uncouth.

            If you were listening and reading, a recent research shows that conservatives’ brains are wired differently. I don’t know how you may fair in that category.

        • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

          Someone who cannot constitutionally be in the White House cannot, and will not, serve the constitution.

          Having a muslim in our White House is akin to having a Jap in there during WWII.

          Muslims by belief are set on a course to destroy the U.S. and kill all infidels. A muslim cannot lead a Christian nation, only work to destroy it.

          Remember, no one spends a reported two million dollars to keep EVERYTHING about their life a SECRET, unless there is something to hide.

        • Lewis Munn

          How can he be a Muslim, and lead a free nation properly?? He is by religious law obligated to MAKE everybody follow Islaam or kill them or enslave them. Period. No if’s, and’s, or buts. Are you converted to Islaam yet yourself??

          I think you fail to realize the power of the religious feelings of the high officials, and think all religions are the same.

          They are not. Even a cursory study would show you that.

          Islaam has as its goal to rule the word, and the system is despotic, as befits a religion AND accompanying political system developed by a highwayman and some despotic rulers.

          Too many people have never learned that a religious system can guide a nation right, as our founding fathers knew, or drive it to ruin and eventual despotism, as Islaam demands.

          Some may not care about the religious system of the government, but then they have never studied the results of religion on government. Especially of a religion of despotism, killing, and absolute power at the top.

        • falling

          I do not care if he is a Muslim, a Jew, a Christian, or an atheist. I do care that he very obviously hid most of his life before he ran for president and our media aided him after he declared his intention to run. I do care that the American people were not allowed to see Obama’s full background before the election. I do care that Obama and others flat out lied, hid and tweaked his history in order to make him electable…and are continuing to lie, hide and tweak the truth as it is uncovered. I do care that he seems set on destroying the country I love…and I do care that our media seems dead set on helping him accomplish his goal. I see no way for him to make an honest win in 2012, but I also see that he could well win dishonestly. Our elections are no longer honest, our politicians buy their seats, our population is fed what they want to hear and Obama goes about his merry way turning our allies into enemies and welcoming our enemies into our country. I fear for my country.

          The muslim beliefs are what they are all about,if they dont follow the koran to the letter then they will burn in hell or just have their heads cut off.So to say that you dont care what this imposter is would make you no better than he is.Read the koran and understand that they lie every chace they get to better their position.Here is just one of their commandments.
          Let not the unbelievers think that they will ever get away. They have not the power to do so. Muster against them all the men and cavalry at your command, so that you may strike terror into the enemy of God and your enemy…

            C’mon, all you folks, it not only doesn’t matter what the religious beliefs of the president are, it’s absolutely unConstitutional to have any religious test for office.

            Y’all talk as if he was a dictator. Sorry for your argument, but we’ve got the legislative and judicial branches, sadly ineffective for sure, but they are not hotbeds of Muslim activism to further the nefarious aims of the prez.

            You do injustice to the Founders, to the Constitution, and to good sense by hijacking an argument of importance to talk about relgious qualifications for office.

        If the Republican “leadership” in the House would grow some stones and vet the Kenyan he, and Biden, would be gone by the end of the month. Off to prison with both of them.

        However, we must remember Boehner is Speaker and he has stated that the issue has been resolved.

            Absolutely sad and unnecessary to tag him with that.

        • Francis

          Old Henry.

          Your first paragraph contradicts your second paragraph. Is this an indication of how informed you are? Sometimes I wonder why I’m here.

    • Francis Forrester

      First, Chip Wood is a dishonest. I saw Peggy Noonan comment after the President’s State of the Union Speech. I never heard her say anything close to what Chip was quoting here. I will never say that this President is perfect. No, he is not perfect; not even close. But I’ll trust him over Chip Wood any day. Imagine, our very neighbor to the north, Canadians, pays more in taxes that we do. But their economy is getting better and growing faster. If it’s an issue of too much taxes, then there wouldn’t be any jobs in Canada.

      One has to be naive and uncouth not to know that jobs we shipped to China during the Bush administration. America has a better future working together than being politicized and divided. I would not even follow anybody who might want to fabricate President Bush what you do to Obama.

      You cannot borrow money from Communist China to go to a war that is not necessary, and don’t have the money to pay it back. Who knows if the paybqck is to relocate factories in China. I’m just saying.

      I am open-minded to listen to all sides of the debate and make an informed decision. The uneducated can wait for the likes of Livingston and Wood to regurgitate information to them, and unleash them to become political attack dogs.

      People who make money out of trusted followers by predicting doom and gloom are destroying the United States of America; and it’s time we call them out.

      • Linda Kressler

        To Francis Forrester – some how I find it very difficult to believe you when you say you are open-minded to listen to all sides…. REALLY NOW!

        • ajb

          Fran keep your nonsense to youeself your the only to believe such nonsense something wrong with your hearing oh and maybe your reason ing

        • Francis Forrester

          Hey Linda.

          I believe one’s open-mindedness doesn’t have to be in agreement. In a civilized society, we can respectfully agree to disagree without evoking or resorting to guns or imagery of that sort. For a person like Linda, I may even want to have coffee with to argue.

          Then there is the Historian here, who, I would like to have coffee with without hesitation. But the Freedom Fighter and PMR, these two people strike me as people who will commit the next violent act in front of a Super Market.

          Please, wake up America, to you PMR and Freedom Fighter, as history will be my witness there is no country that prospers with rhetoric, threats, falsehood, innuendo and pure ignorance and survive. This scary talk serves no purpose in a civilized society. You talk about freedoms and feel that because your opinions about some people are enough for them to be killed?

          I think it’s fair to hold every member of congress to account regardless of political party. And a free society according to the constitution as I understand it, is the one where we are different in so many ways. You want to start a war, go ahead.

          I have seen war, I have been to war. War is mostly unjustified. Take Iraq for example. Borrow money from Communist Chinese to go to Iraq which costs us over $1m a day, and pretend we cannot be broke? Chinese are Communists but they like interest on their money too. They are using the free market against us, stupid.

          There is a special wisdom one acquires when you travel around the world. Most people who travel will tell you that they see the world and America in broader lenses. The lenses I’m talking about has no guns or targets or bulls eyes in it. America needs a sense of community of “One America First”, we disagree later, without which I think one’s love of God is shallow, and the survival of the country is in jeopardy. There are people who make a living fanning discord, Chip Wood is one of them. It’s time we call them out.

          • usmadgirl

            Francis, I replied to the comment where you called Chip Wood “dishonest” but it ended WAY below where I replied, so hopefully this will be nearer your “unresearched” accusation.

            February 5, 2011 at 3:24 pm

            Before you basically call someone a liar, you might want to do some research. Peggy Noonan said EXACTLY what Chip Wood quoted. It’s in the second paragraph after the date, in case you need help in locating it!

          • usmadgirl

            Francis Forrester,

            You can NOT be “open-minded” when it comes to your values. “Truth has no agenda”! When you know the truth & right from wrong, you can’t compromise your values to be “open-minded” just to “get along”! That’s what’s wrong with this country & countries around the world now. People have become SO “open-minded” that there’s nothing blowing through their open heads but AIR!

            In reply to your comment that people like Chip Wood, who make a living “fanning discord”, I’d like to respond. If it weren’t for people like Chip Wood, Bob Livingston, Ben Crystal, Glenn Beck, Michelle Malkin, Sean Hannity, Dick Morris & others who have a backbone, most Americans wouldn’t have a clue what’s really going on in the country or the world. They aren’t “fanning discord”! They’re attempting to let people know what’s TRULY going on (so we “uneducated” can prepare for the worst & hope for the best) because they CERTAINLY won’t get it from the “MessiahStreamMedia”! If you don’t know that, you’re one of the ones who have nothing but air blowing through that open mind of yours!

            Why do you feel that you’re an authority in “predicting” that “Freedom Fighter” & “PMR” are going to be “the people who will commit the next violent act in front of a super market”? Just because people want to “fight” (which most of us mean by our voices, not with weapons) for their country & our constitutional liberty does NOT make them a wacko murderer like the evil loon in Arizona who had NO political affiliation. He was just a freak who wanted his disturbed 15 minutes of fame.

            Just for future reference, most of us here are conservative. Most conservatives aren’t inclined to go out & kill people, willie-nillie. We reserve that for the psycho progressives who want to transform our country & do it through “preaching” hatred, chaos, racism, revolution & violence! Please read the Saul Alinsky & Cloward & Piven strategies if you want to know who the violent in this country truly are. Look at the “Code Pink” & “Common Cause” video at their Kochs protest to see who the violent radicals are! If you want to see what’s going on, instead of accusing the conservatives on this site of being greedy instigators or “future murderers”, why don’t you use your time more wisely by researching for the truth & read the information below to be enlightened. That’s what all the “uneducated” people here on this site do.

            Simply because someone is able to “travel the world” does not make them more educated & knowledgeable. The only thing world travel should impress on an American is how blessed we’ve been to live in the greatest country in the world & what we need to do to restore & keep our Republic so it doesn’t end up like all the other countries in the world that you might have visited.

            usmadgirl – Way to go!

            I like your style, and you speak the truth.

          • Jana

            That was an excellent post. The leftists want us to take what they say as fact, agree with them and then shut up. That isn’t the way it works. That is exactly what the Democrats did for the last two years, and we see the mess we are in now.

          • Dan az

            Francis You need to study up on a little history before you open your mouth against any conservatives here.I understand that you are what I would call a progressive that cant see the damage that has already been done by your way of thinking.The proof is every where just open your eyes.
            The Cloward-Piven strategy – first proposed in 1966 – seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. Application of this strategy contributed greatly to the turmoil of the late Sixties. Cloward-Piven failed to usher in socialism, but it succeeded in generating an economic crisis and in escalating the level of political violence in America – two cherished goals of hard-Left strategists.

            Radical organizers today continue tinkering with variations on the Cloward-Piven theme, in the perennial hope of reproducing ’60s-style chaos. The thuggish behavior of leftwing unions such as SEIU and of certain elements of George Soros’ Shadow Party can be traced, in a direct line of descent, from the early practitioners of Cloward-Piven.

          • Francis Forrester

            Usmadgirl and others. I have to congratulate you all for being civil for the most part in your rebuttal. To reiterate, when people say things sometimes, the imagery in what is said conjures their intent.
            Now, I want to apologize for calling Chip Wood dishonest. However, I was right about Peggy Noonan.
            My source was when Peggy Noonan appeared on Morning Joe, the day after SOTUS she said something different.
            Peggy Noonan in this NYT article you linked here did the unbalanced journalist criticism without offering any solution of her own. One will wonder if she has any.
            Peggy Noonan, as you all know, came to prominence by writing what a President “should” say. Need I say more? Let’s bury that now please.
            Whether I’m a liberal or not, our individual freedom to express ourselves allows me to voice my opinion here whether it’s a conservative site or not.
            By virtue of being here, I’ve gained some insights. On another subject matter, I’ll prefer to hold the fire on conspiracy theorems.
            And you gotta be kidding – quoting Glen Beck in anything of substance, in itself void of integrity.
            Somebody here said honestly that these problems have been brewing for so long. Factories were closed and opened in China and Mexico more that four years ago. At or around the same time deregulation allowed Wall Street to spew greed. And American competitiveness was there before the last two years.
            Politicians on both sides of the political divide have got to fight for the middle class now.
            And I’ll leave you with this: WASHINGTON — Economists at the New York Federal Reserve have concluded that a controversial 2005 law backed by banks and credit card companies pushed more than 200,000 people into foreclosure and exacerbated the sub-prime mortgage crisis.

            Consumer advocates fought hard against the law, which made it much more difficult for individuals to alleviate credit card debt in bankruptcy. This inability of homeowners to eliminate other debts, the New York Fed economists conclude, in turn made borrowers unable to pay off their mortgages, spurring foreclosures.

            Despite opposition from public interest groups, the 2005 law easily cleared both chambers of Congress and was signed into law by President George W. Bush. In a paper released Tuesday, New York Fed researchers Donald P. Morgan, Benjamin Iverson and Matthew Botsch determined that the law sparked about 116,000 additional sub-prime mortgage foreclosures a year after going into effect.

        America can, and should do whats good for Americans.

        Obama and his criminal gang, supported by fellow travelers (socialist, communist, and usefull idiots) are setting themselves up as elite dictators, gutting the constitution, robbing our children of liberty and freedom, and without question destroying the economy for a takeover when the engineered collapse actually occurs.

        Many millions in America will not allow this to occur and I fear Obama will start a civil war.

          To All: Let’s be honest, the over spending has been going on for a long time, just not to the extent that Obama has done it. IT is both parties that have not been good stewards of our trust. Both parties have trampled on the constitution. The worrysome thing is that there are so many ignorant voters who vote for the party rather than being being a responsible voter and researching the candidate. They believe what the media says about the candidate when the media has their on agenda, or they are stubbornly voting as their parrents or friends have decided to vote. This allows slick talkers like Obama to promise them “HOPE” without specific substance. We will continue to sink as a nation as long as ignorant people expect something for nothing and don’t care who pays for it. AND…by the way blame the congress more for this they hold control of the budget the President can not do it without their agreement.

          • PMR

            Very Very true. I am young myself, still young enough to go to college and graduate before I’m 30. I don’t understand how so many Americans, older than myself, can simply act/react without thinking! Judgments, Rulings, and Bills that have been passed before my own eyes were the “Sellers” to me that made me believe after knowing that our Government is corrupt on every level it has! From the President to Police to City Workers. On top of it ALL, they have been so blatant in telling us what they are doing, what they have done, and what they will do that a Governmental Collapse IS inevitable unless WE THE PEOPLE do something about it! I’m mentally geared up and ready to go to war with ANYONE who defies the Constitution of The UNITED States of America! LIVE FREE OR DIE TRYING!

            I was raised that hard work is the only way to accomplish your goals, whether it be in school for education or actually working a job/career that suits oneself for they may act passionately and responsibly in that particular field of which they are interested. Sitting around on your @$$3$ making babies asking for free handouts at the expense of your neighbor is NO WAY TO LIVE! Welfare Queens and system Manipulators ought to be lined up and SHOT! The Hittites had a great idea on how life was suppose to be. Everyone works, everyone get’s what they need! This includes food, shelter, and protection from outside forces via their very well trained, strategic army. If you disobey the King, you are dis-obeying their constitution and way of life and there were MAJOR consequences for doing so! If you sit around all day watching Television while complaining because your Social Security check is a few hours or day’s late, you are useless to Society! If you cannot work, you cannot help. If you cannot help the Nation prosper, you should not have privileges above those who can, and are willing to work, make sacrifices, and help the Nation as a whole! If you only live for yourself and neglect the bigger picture, you deserve to live no more.

        First, Francis, take your socialist banter with you across the Border and keep it there!! Second, you don’t factor in the head count and what the politicians do with that tax revenue, which by the way, is illegal; the Constitution doesn’t allow any form of income to be taxed, yet an illegal agency; the IRS, takes about 30% each week from how many citizens? and where does it go, never mind sales tax, property tax and business tax? It goes into the pockets of our elected officials!! You actually believe Americans paying through the nose, when we barely have a pot to p… in, is going to strengthen our economy? Do you want our government, who can’t run airport security, the Post Office, Social Security, or Medicare, to run your personal life choices like food you eat, tv you watch, news you listen to, medicine and those who provide it? Those who we’ve entrusted to run this country are some of the few who still have jobs and their homes, not to mention their fat retirement plan and pristine medical coverage… but you think we are being too hard and unfair and that our dissent is making the country fall faster then the WTC? We have more business overseas that will keep the money over there; while we buy China made products, so do they!!! Leaving less money coming in then what we have to spend. It’s ugly out there and no amount of 60′s Peace slogans are going to be the band-aid on this self inflicted wound, so let’s cut the crap and fix it with real solutions, not empty words!!

          The solution for “We..the people”…is found here
 …When congress left congress during the civil war the de jure seats, which are the lawful seats for the people were never filled when the 41st congress reconvened. At this time when congress reconvened the Corporation was enacted, thus, the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA…all caps instead of the united Sates of America. From that point on our government (de facto) no longer operated from the original organic constitution and we’ve been under martial law since the civil war. We have been deceived for approx. 160 years. This is why it doesn’t matter that Obama is not a natural born citizen, because he is president of the CORPORTION and their sovereign country is(Washingto D.C. (District of Columbia)They overreached their boundaries by making the states part of their CORPORATION,and we’ve all contractrd with through all the licenses and accounts we make with them. Our American and the “citizens” have been used for collateral to their debtors.
          The De Jure Republic has been restored and all the people have to do is repopulate it to become a “free” living Person on the land. The de facto is not lawful and has to go away when the DE JURE is in place, it is the only lawful government.

            No one is listening to either one of them.

        I believe something must be wrong with your reading/writing/reasoning. Anyone who uses such a minor statement as “Canadians pay more taxes than we do and they are thriving.” to back the government on raising taxes is totally misguided and under-researched. Canada may have higher tax rates, but they don’t have all of the corporate rules, regulations, and penalties such as we have here to “Protect our Environment”. Also, their Unions don’t demand $25 an hour for a task as simple as pointing the insides of their Nuclear Power Facilities or acting as a Desk Jockey at heir local Courthouse. On top of the prior, they also have a well balanced and budgeted plan for their economy. Their Government takes way more time ensuring they don’t impose on their Constitution and it’s foundational rights. They don’t feel that they need to have 100′s of agencies acting upon 100,000′s of projects that will never get finished but rather have dozens of agencies to who manage only 1,000′s of projects at a time to ensure that each and every one get’s accomplished in an appropriate manner!

        Get YOUR facts straight, SON!

      • Kinetic1

        I’m not a fan of Chips and I often disagree with him, but it would have done you well to take the time to google the quote before accusing him of lying. Ms. Noonan wrote those words in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal: January 27, 2011. I won’t go into any great detail, but the last paragraph summed up opinion;
        “I actually hate writing this. I wanted to write “A Serious Man Seizes the Center.” But he was not serious and he didn’t seize the center, he went straight for the mush. Maybe at the end of the day he thinks that’s what centrism is.”

        Funny thing about posters to this site, they don’t seem to care much about facts or truth. Only one person came to the defense of Chip in response to your post, and even then didn’t bother to show any proof that Chip was not lying. Jukebox’s only defense was that he would trust almost anyone over President Obama. Well, that sure showed you, Francis! Using that logic, I could prove all of you wrong.

        All that having been said, I have learned that many people on this site will respond without even reading your post. Based on your name or the first sentence of your post, they seem to conclude that you are just another communist and begin their rant. Then there are those like Patriotpartisan. He seems to have “read” your post, but his/her ideology must have gotten in the way. His/her first words are;
        “First, Francis, take your socialist banter with you across the Border and keep it there!”
        I suppose he’s/she’s referring to your statement;
        “America has a better future working together than being politicized and divided.”
        Pure socialism, not unlike George Washington repeating the oft heard phrase “United we stand, divided we fall.” Then the rant begins in ernest. Taxes, TAXES! Based on his/her response to your comparison of Canada’s taxes to ours, it sounds like he/she believes that Canada’s leaders are better and more honest than ours. Why doesn’t he/she move to Canada?

        In the end, Patriotpartisan really doesn’t respond to much of what you said. He/she mentions China, but doesn’t address the billions we have borrowed to fight 2 useless wars. There’s a comment about “60′s Peace slogans” but nothing about the wealthy hate mongers. One could almost say, Patriotpartisan, “let’s cut the crap and fix it with real solutions, not empty words!!”

        My Dear Young Lady. I am sorry to have to break this to you but taxes are not what drove industry overseas. Try any one of these,or all together and you will get the picture, Regulations; that no other country imposes, Union Rules; that rewards people for non-work, Poiticians that believe in a corporate tax.(Corp taxes are passed on to the consumer.
        There are more (I did not even touch corrupt politicians) but jus two out of three of the above would do much to restore JOBS.

      • Don the Canuck

        Perhaps you might wish to do a little more due diligence before making statements that have to do with Canada.

        Canadians pay more taxes, and they also have many more services , as well they have a much lower debt per capita ratio than Americans do.

        We also have a government that does NOT totally overwhelm business with gazillions of regulations as well we have a very low business tax rate. In Quebec, the tax rate for the first 300K for a small business is around 20%……………above that you are looking at 31% if I am not mistaken. Our country maintains a strong level of discipline when it comes to trying to balance a budget and for many years before the recent “downturn”, we were running surpluses. So, yes, higher taxes may be the reason you think Canada is still working, but you are wrong in your assessment. Canada works because we have some manner of responsibility towards our citizens and we do not have a Wall Street that is sucking us dry, nor do we have a banking system that is totally out of whack with reality, nor do we have a government that believes it needs to police the world and cater to all manner of lobbyists. We have our problems, but believe you me…………higher taxes are not the catalyst towards growth. Lower taxes are…and that is the simple truth. Growth in an econmoy depends on how well small to medium businesses can grow without the interference of gov’t. That is how the U.S. became a powerhouse. You simply lost you way, and this new guy you put in charge is an economical midget , by any standard.

        Up here, we sincerely hope that our friends to the South will finally wake up and take their country back and soon. People are beginning to see light and to understand that they have no freedoms left. The U.S.A. is a victim of its own refusal to understand that wealth can only be created one way, and that way has slowly been overwhelmed by the left in the last few decades.

        If you think higher taxes will cure you of the malaise you are in, good luck to you and your fellow men. We’ll pray for you and hope things work out once you are owned by Chinese interests.

        good luck to you all.

        • usmadgirl

          Don the Canuck,

          It’s amazing that so many of our friends outside the USA can see what’s going on here more so than half of our own citizens. Please keep in mind that only half of us, maybe much less LEGITIMATLY, depending on how many dead people, Disney characters or illegal immigrants, voted for the radical, America-hating, Constitution-ignoring, Chicago thug. Some of us KNEW what he meant when he said he wanted to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” and what he meant when he said “under his plan, energy bills would necessarily skyrocket”! I don’t know what the ones who voted for him thought he meant!

          I hope our allies know that Conservatives don’t approve of anything this “Dictator in Chief” has done so far, is doing currently or plans to do in his, hopefully, short term future. He has offended our few allies & bowed to our many enemies.

          WE THE PEOPLE didn’t approve of any of the exorbitant spending or unconstitutional bills that we’re being forced to tolerate as we watch our country slip into INTENTIONAL economic collapse. WE know that lower taxes & less regulation will create job growth, promote new small businesses & improve the economy, but that is NOT the agenda of this criminal administration. They know exactly what they’re doing!

          Unfortunately, we have people in states that are on the verge of bankruptcy that were stupid enough to reelect the same people who got their states into that situation in the first place. If conservatives had taken over the House AND the Senate, we could possibly be on our way to recovery but they chose to reelect the same people expecting different results; so we didn’t take back the Senate.

          Please know that the majority of us haven’t lost our way. The “progressives” have gradually inflicted their radical agenda into our lives over the past century hoping we didn’t notice. WE THE PEOPLE want a smaller, less intrusive government. A common sense person off the street could run our country better than the progressives in office now! My PETS could do a better job!

          We appreciate your concern & hope that you’ll pray for our country!

        So I’ve apologized for calling Chip Wood a liar on this article about . His is not off the hook. as I’ve explained in the other email, Peggy Nonnan gave conflicting opinions….

      • Canadian Observer

        You state that Canadians pay more taxes, so taxes are not the issue in creating jobs. They are indeed an issue. A good tax code allows WEALTH to be created by those people who embrace CAPITALISM as a base for wealth creation. Let a company keep a lot of its profits and it will re-invest it in growing itself and create more jobs.

        Simple math, always worked, works today, will work tomorrow and forever.

        The corporate tax rates in Canada are beneficial when compared to the rates in the U.S. in many instances. Revenue on working income is taxed at a higher rate, yes. Dividend income is taxed at very low rates, however. As is Corporate profit.

        The fact that Canada does not have a gazillion pages of regulations that completely disallow wealth creation through people starting businesses is where the difference lies. In the U.S. there is so much regulation that a person would be out of his mind to even contemplate starting a business nowadays. On the other hand, here in Canada, it can be done with a few phone calls and very little red tape in many sectors of our economic activity.

        Your current president forgets one thing….that CAPITALISM is what creates wealth……………SOCIALISM is what spends it and redistributes it to those who simply are not willing to put in the effort to create it themselves. Until the U.S. has found its balance back between rewarding personal effort and punishing a lack of responsibility and effort, you will continue to see a decline of your “empire”.

        Capitalism has flaws, but only because it is people whose greed create those flaws. The concept in itself is fine, and regulations are needed to stem the greed some people cannot control themselves. But today, those regulations have surpassed any common sense ans have created roadblocks to wealth-building in the U.S. Simple logic, and common sense need prevail once again.

        Dumbing down your population will only serve to allow China and India to surpass you rapidly and make the U.S. an insignificant player over time in thew world stage. It is already clear that the power the U.S. wields over the world diminishes rapidly by its inability to return to its former greatness due to a lack of direction. Talking heads do not an economy make. Your current leader, the “community organizer” is a “economic midget” at best. Never had to meet a payroll, never had to put his own money where his mouth was.

        Canada works somewhat well…………and it is not due to taxes. It is due to a balance that was found some time ago, that allows people to keep a good portion of what wealth they create. Free rides are not the norm here and are mostly frowned upon. We take care of our less fortunate, but frown upon those who abuse the kindness. We do NOT reward banks or businesses for bad management. We clear them out and allow others to take their place. In contrast, the U.S. seems to believe that if you can’t make it in real life, well, then, we will simply tax the heck out of those who did make it. Too big to fail stupidity, subsidizing failure and thinking that the current state of government is able to actually understand what the people really need is simply ludicrous. This applies to both sides.

        Wrong formula………when was the last time you got a job offer from a welfare recipient?

        Taxes are necessary for certain services, but they are not something that anyone should take lightly, as they continue to be an attack on peoples’s liberties. Politicians seem to be too easily swayed to reaising them when they realize that they cannot possibly make things work by giving away stuff for votes forever. At some point, you run out of other people’s money. Margaret Thatcher had it right. Politicians are not business people. They have no idea how to run anything nor do they put their own money where their big mouths are.

        For so many years now, socialists have been trying to find the right formula but never seem to be able to……… always comes back to the only way to create wealth………..let business do what business does. Make money and create jobs. If in the process you inspire others to do the same, then you have ……hey, wait a minute, you have “AMERICA”!!! That is what America was built on. You have lost your way in an effort to please the bad corporate citizens because they were allowed to get so big that the influence gov’t decisions. Lobbying is a form of art now in Washington, and your leaders don’ty listen to people , they listen to corporations. Capitalism only works if you keep the businesses out of your government, and your government out of the businesses.

        Up here in Canada, taxes are different, but we at least get something for our money, not just a bunch of clowns catering to the companies who spend the most to wine and dine them.

        As a nothern neighbour who loves my southern friends, I certainly hope you people will manage to stop this REP vs. DEM nonsense and take back your country. Your system is wrong and it needs fixing from the bottom up. See “the five monkey theory” to understand what needs to be done. Anything short of that, you are doomed to fall behind any country that still values a level of capitalism and entrepreneurship. The U.S. gov’t lost its way a long time ago, and only the people can fix it. Your constitution allows for this, and it is up to the people to take action and do what they need to, but………………

        BUT…………the problem you now have is that you have left things progress to the point that there are more people who want handouts than there are who want to contribute. Point of no return has been reached, because when they vote, the former willnow always win unless those people are shown that this manner of living simply does not work anymore.

        Most Americans know less about what is in their constitution than what Bart Simpson eats for breakfast. One could say that you deserve what you get for letting your lives be run by these idiots in Washington. I won’t say that though, but I do think it often.

        Hopefully, you will all do what is necessary.

        BTW. We have a hero that we like up here and that is your representative from Texas, Dr.Ron Paul. That is one person more people should isten to. He knows how smart your forefathers were when they wrote the Constitution. An amazing feat of foresight based on the knowledge that politicians will always try to perpetuate and increase their powers.

        cheers, and I’m rooting for y’all.

    • Alice

      • HELLO MR. Obama. Why with so many people obviously upset, for whatever the reasons may be, will you not release your college transcripts from Occidental and how were you able to travel to Pakistan in the early 80s during a time that “American” citizens were not allowed to do so?
      Why not put the conspiracy theory to rest once and for all?
      • Take a step back and have a sense of reality. Do you really think our government tells us every little thing and is really “for the people?” They are all for themselves. They only care about money and power. The New World Order is real. You can’t deny that.

      • “The Constitution is not an instrument for a government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government — lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” -Patrick Henry

      • Linda R

        Life is getting worse and worse with Obama. Clearly, U.S economy is destroyed. American people should stop Obama now. We need a new president who will bring America to prosperity. The new president should have enough knowledge and experience to operate the business in U.S.

        • JLC

          Linda R — Can you say, “Donald Trump?”

          • Jana

            I have been listening to Donald Trump and he is very business savvy, and he knows how to get jobs done. I think he might be the right man for the job. I hope he runs.

          • Conservative at Birth

            I for one would not vote for Donald Trump, he has too many simplistic ideas.

          • TIME

            Can you say Bail OUT?

            I hope so as we the people bailed Trump out, has we not the Donald would be sitting under a bridge with a small fire roasting rats on a stick.
            He is not his father, so lets not jump from the pot into the kettle.
            A 100% bad idea.

          • JLC

            Reply to Conservative At Birth — Perhaps a little “simplistic” is just what is needed. Apply Occam’s Razor. When a problem admits of more than one solution, the simplest one is most likely to be the correct one. In engineering (my field) there is an acronym, “KISS it” —— “Keep It Simple, Stupid.! (No personal insult intended)

          • JUKEBOX

            Don’t forget, Donald Trump admitted on national TV that he actually voted for Obama. That one fact cost him my vote.

          • Jana

            He was probably voting against McCain.

        • John

          How American people can remove Obama from the white house? I don’t think it would happen now. We don’t have serious civil political movements. The tea party doesn’t have enough political power yet. What is your idea??

          • RonaldL

            Obama is thinking to quietly and easily transform U.S into a communist country like USSR. He is doing it now. So far he has little or no oppositions for his politics.

          • kate8

            RonaldL- People in America, both in and out of politics, are behaving as if things are just politics as usual. The media is mostly to blame for this, I believe.

            What is actually going on is nothing less than complete overthrow of America. The dominos are falling and, once America is down, there is nothing to stop the NWO.

            It’s so frustrating to try to work through our “representatives”. They get elected, and once there, they turn to us a deaf ear. They become one of the elite, and when they learn what is planned for the great unwashed, what else would one expect from them.

          Linda R.

          Where were you when the economy started going down? Can you please tell me when the economy started collapsing, when the jobs started being shipped out and when decentralization begun?

      • Peter Green

        I don’t trust Obama. His policies will never work. He will continue to destroy U.S economy!!! Nothing will work. See Obamacare already is brocken.

        • JUKEBOX

          For those proponents of Democracy, 27 states out of 50 are challenging Obamacare. Sounds like a Democratic majority to me.

          • Jana

            Me too.

          • falling

            But Obama is going AGAINST the will of those 27 states isn’t he! Just as he went AGAINST the will of the majority when he bribed congress to sign the monstrosity that is Obamacare. THAT is NOT the way a Democracy works.

          • kate8

            Not the way a REPUBLIC works, either.

        Well said. I like it, patriot! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

      • Francis

        hey Alice.

        You want the President to release his college transcripts? So some of you wonder too if this President Obama went to University?

        With all due respect to President George Bush, President George W went to Yale. Figure that out. Sarah Palin went to a couple of Universities too. Americans Universities.

    • Lewis Munn

      He meant he would not accept that our mountain of debt would be second-place to any other in the world.

      I do not think the German government before Hitler wanted to be first in amount of debt!!

      But is there a nation in the world Obama does not want us to be in debt to??

    • EddieW

      An even sadder day inour history…Congress approved the Patriot Act without a whimper!! This now dooms us as a free nation!! Here is what I sent about 30 alternative news agencys!! Republicans want to make it permanent!!!

      Patriot Act Permanent…are they insane? If you want a Fascist Police State, that is the perfect vehicle to implement it, it is being done even now, using the exact same thing both Hitler & Stalin did…have neighbor spy on neighbor…they are teaching kids to do this in school, Walmart is pushing it, The FBI is asking garbage men to spy on us…and now that they have again passed the Patriot act unnaposed…There is very little if any chance to prevent a tyrannical Police State from being implemented!! It’s already now too late to stop it, and making the Patriot Act permanent, will guarantee it can never be reversed!! I guess too many people have hated these freedoms, and in less than 2 years…, they will all be gone!!! Hope they can be happier under a Tyrannical Police State!!!

    Why blame China it’s the greedy Capitalist who are out sourcing all our jobs. Just so can have higher profits.

    • Travis

      FIFY (Fixed it for you John)

      Why blame China it’s the greedy Capitalist who are out sourcing all our jobs. Just so they can stay in business and hire workers.

      • Cliffystones

        Don’t they already do that here by hiring illegals?

      • falling

        It is the greedy Democrats who have raised taxes above international rates and imposed punishing regulations on our corporations making it impossible for our businesses to make a profit if they DON’T leave the country. Washington needs to form some reasonable checks and balances on business and then GET OUT OF THE WAY! Competition will hold costs down, competition will keep business honest. The more the govenrment steps in the worse things get!

        • kate8

          falling – That’s the whole point! They don’t want independent businesses to succeed! They want everyone totally dependent on the global corporations for EVERYTHING.

          In fact, they want NO kind of independence, for anyone. We are being, literally, starved into submission.

    • MikeBro

      For John: Mr. Wood addressed your concern. Make believe you are the CEO of a large company with large profits overseas. Would your shareholders prefer you to bring those profits back into the country and pay “the highest tax on corporate profits in the Western world?” or reinvest those profits where they are (overseas) to generate more profits??? If the Corporate tax rates were more reasonable, there would be a much better chance that profits would be brought home and invested in USA jobs right here.

      • LES

        Taxes Regulation & Unions have driven jobs overseas. A company can stay here and go out of business or it can go overseas and possibly survive. Either way the jobs are lost here.

        • http://PersonalLibertyDigest Liberty

          Thank you Les, now, if only the “useful idiots” can connect the dots to understand what you posted. Too many have had the disadvantage of a public school system indoctrination to understand what’s being done in this country was planned by the socialists/communists.

            No one was listening to Obama BEFORE he was elected. He stated out loud that electricity would NECESSARILY have to go up. He also stated the coal mines would have to be closed and that the price of gas would have to go up. He had a bad economy in mind way before he was elected by the poor saps that believed in his hope and change philosophy without actually knowing what he meant. People just don’t listen.

            Fort Payne, AL was once the “SOCK CAPITOL” of the world with 180 hosiery mills operating. It was announced this morning that the last 18 mills will be closing in April, with the production moving offshore. Ask the people in Ft. Payne how Obama is working out for them.

          • Karolyn

            Juke – South Carolina was the textile capital of the world. That ended years ago, way before Obama. The last of the mills closed around here several years ago.

            so what is our problem…doesnt say much about our CRAFTSMANSHIP over the years or is it the union wages that is doing us in…

            Bill, would you settle for BOTH?
            Although your comment isn’t specifically about the story, you do bring up a sad reality, though. Unions foster mediocrity in craftmanship and pride in workmanship. Once a union member, as long as you pay your dues and bow to the union bosses, you are in and only need to perform according to the lowest denominator.

            My grandfather was a foreign trained brick layer and could lay more bricks, more accurately than any of his fellow union members. He was told to “slow” his pace. Because brick laying as many other activities improve with a certain rythem developed, his accuracy was negatively affected, and thus his workmanship suffered. But he did obey the rules.

            Nowadays, few union workers even have a chance to develop such accuracy because they have to obey the rules and stay within union forced guidelines.

            There go your true craftsmen.

        • bill

          how about this AMERICA…JOHN DEERE building a factory in INDIA…this will please all STOCKHOLDERS…same old news..

          • ValDM

            John Deere has been maunfacturing overseas for the last 40 years. We had a John Deere that was assembled in France, but the parts came from Germany. Worked better than the American ones, too. This moving jobs out of the country has been going on for far longer than you realize, but now has reached critical mass.

          • bill

            Shoot em, bury em, and shut up.

    • David

      John that has to be the dumbest thing I have heard from anyone on this site in a long time. Large corps are leaving because other nations are developing while we strangle our own with legislation and regulation.

      EPA has been allowed to run amuck since obama took over. Major industry is at the tipping point here. The democrats don’t want us here so they make it impossible to compete here. Carbon regulation will finish us off and send everyone else to China/India.

      • Bill

        What else do you expect from an anti-American president. He will help the muslims take over the United States.

        • kate8

    • wandamurline

      Capitalism works. What doesn’t work is the burden of government regulations down your business back and corporate taxes that are staggering and then throw in the unions and their wages and benefits…no wonder so many companies have gone elsewhere. Any person in business expects to make a profit…but, America has become the government run business world where the elists in Washington, many of whom have never managed a Dairy Queen much less owned and operated a business, believes that they are smarter than the private sector who has been providing jobs for Americans for over a century. This is what is wrong with America…take the government apart and dismantle most of the bureaus and departments within it. Take the federal government and workers huge retirement and dump those funds into social security and their retirements can be adjusted like their employers’ (the American people’s) retirement is done through social security. Take it from all of them including all past and present administrations. This alone would keep social security in the black for years.

    • tori

      What’s wrong with making a profit? The owner is the last one paid. If there is no profit, the business can’t survive. Would you open a business knowing you won’t make any money? What’s the point?

    • patriotpartisan

      “Why blame China…?” China, or anyone involved in the ‘Fair Trade’ scheme, doesn’t buy from U.S., they buy their own product while selling it to us as well… So, some of the blame can be directed to greedy capitalists who don’t want to pay some American $17./hr. when a Chinaman will take $.70/day and some blame can be on China who makes their people buy home-made items.

      • JUKEBOX

        There are many companies that would stay here if they only had to pay their workers $17 per hour. Most union shops are paying $25 to $40 plus another $10 to $20 per hour in benefits.

    I was wondering who was going to make the “You lie!” or “Not true!” type of comment at this year’s SOTUS. I am sure a lot of people in the house and around the country had their own versions in mind.

    • wandamurline

      Unfortunately, the only Supreme Court Justice with the balls to mouth “that’s not true” decided to be elsewhere this year…he said he would not be there this year when the president attacked him last SOTUS, and he kept his word. No one has to yell you lie…the majority of people know when the POTUS is lying…everytime he opens his mouth. He is one of absolutely no substance and that is proven every day he is in office.

      • JR

        He lies as much as all others ever lied…that’s part of the job.
        His only problem is he is a terrible lair…others like Bush where good liars. I don’t believe BO would ever be able to lie good enough to convince this nation to start 2 wars.

        Remember the phrase: “Read My Lips”…… it will forever be associated with lying in politics and forever be used as a means to demonstrate how corrupt our politicians and the US political system is.

        • Carlucci

          Exactly. And how do we know politicians are lying? Their lips are moving.

    As a retired Sailor I sure wish people would stop using “drunken sailors” as in spend money like a drunken sailor. Maybe in my day it applied but no longer. In my day you could obtain liquor and beer on base at reduced prices, in fact they used to have on base package stores but no longer. Alcohol is becoming almost as scarce as tobacco in the military. (though you will never stop any 21 year old from drinking if he a predilection to do so)

    • pennsyltuckian

      Actually the true insult from that line is because sailors spend their own money, not someone else’s. Ovomit is spending my money and everyone else’s except his own.

      • bob wire

        well, yea? he’s went through some loot. I think all the bills were do and fuel tanks empty when he was handed the keys.

        But of course , I wouldn’t expect you to bother with such a waste of time, being a conservative and all. It wouldn’t change your mind or anything else.

          then right on top of that $26 billion for his buddies the union teachers. This in just 9 months. You go back and take a talley; it seems you flunked remedial math.

        • JeffH

          bob wire, only a small amount more han “w”? Only a died in the wool “liberal” could say that! C’mon bob, shed your distaste for “generics” and wear your “label” with pride.

        • Eric Bischoff

          Well only “disingenuous, always in denial, and forever with their blinders on” conservatives would spew out the crap about Obama being inept and being totally responsible for this mess. I did not vote for him because he is not progressive enough but he inherited the Titanic and last I looked we are still afloat. Maybe we should all do our part to make sure it stays that way. But giving the reigns back to the corrupt fascist thieves that ran it in to the ground definitely fits the definition of insanity. It’s time to elect some real intelligence and compassion, Vote progressives. Don’t be so scared, just because you’ve never had the guts to vote that way doesn’t mean it won’t be good for you. Sometimes you have to go for it and really try something new.

        • bob wire

          The last I looked we were 13.7 trillion down. “O” went in with it at 10 -10.5 and “W” was going though 1.5 – 2 per year, much like “O”

          So I’m not seeing any huge difference as you wish to suggest. I’m not suggesting the man hasn’t gone through some serious loot.

          But there was a lot left undone and many things to prop up.

          Immigration had been cut to the bone, ~ We are now deporting in record numbers with increases in staffing. Getting these people that don’t belong out of here! ~ I could offer more, I suppose you think I should?

          I’ll agree, that this over spending must stop! But not as this moment,

          I can’t just shut water off to a office building all of sudden or open a valve all of a sudden. ~ I’d be two months clean up the damage.

    • wandamurline

      Well, you would probably had a heart attack if you had watched, so you did the right thing. I didn’t watch it either, but was sitting at my computer while my husband watched and hear it and what I heard was blah,blah,blah,blah,blah, etc. Everything he said he repeated from all previous speeches, except the new word “investments”, i.e spending my money.

        One phrase of his he didn’t repeat in the SOTUS that could have easily summed it up his supposed shift is “Words, just words.”

    Barack – Barack – Barack : Barack-A-Doodle-Due !!!!

    I fully expect the ARABS to be insulting America any day now,
    that they are in the Final Stage of Establishing their
    TWELVTH CALIPHATH real soon !

    • JR

      Hmm, Why do you care what the Arabs doing in they’re own sovereign country? Fact is, they are on they’re way to destroy them self with infighting and we should keep our nose out of it, watch it and laugh all the way to the bank…as it will generate jobs to rebuild those countries sometimes in the future.

      • Sam

        Because it is going to send gas prices skyrocketing almost immediately since this is the part of the world where we get most of our oil from. What planet are you from JR?

        • Conservative at Birth

          We only get 7% of our imported oil from Saudi Arabia. Most of our imoported oil comes from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuala.

          • Carlucci

            Some of our oil also comes from Nigeria. There is tons of oil there in the swamps, just about a foot and a half down. The only problem is that Nigeria is also a very dangerous country – ruled by crooked politicians and warlords. Have you ever seen the warning signs at the airports? If you are flying to Lagos, Nigeria, you are on your own. These signs are in airports all over the world.

            I would bet that there is plenty of oil here, starting in the Bakken Oil Field in North Dakota. Of course Fedzilla will never allow drilling there – that would make common sense.

          • Rene’ Z. L.

            Fine. But every time somebody hiccups in the middle east, I pay more at the gas pumps.

          • eddie47d

            Carlucci; Then why are they building a pipeline from N.Dakota to connect with the pipelines in northern Colorado and western Nebraska?

          • JeffH

            eddie, are you talking about the natural gas pipeline projects or the Keystone oil pipelines running from Alberta’s Tar Sands into the US through N Dakota headed for Missouri or the Keystone XL pipeline heading to Texas which also originates in Alberta?

          • JeffH

            Carrlici and eddie, you might find some good info in this article.

            Bakken fuels pipeline tussle; US-Can basin could hold 9B bbs

          • http://?? Joe H.

            Conservative at Birth,
            It doesn’t matter WHERE we get our oil!!! Any disruption in the flow causes prices to soar!!! The only place we could get and not have to deal with the ups and downs is if it came from the US!!

          • Jana

            Joe H,
            My sentiments exactly. The only problem is Obama is stifling any oil production in the U.S.
            They used to grant permits for oil drilling rigs in the gulf to the tune of one every three days. It has gone down to one a month.
            Obama said before he was elected Electricity would go up, Gasoline would necessarily have to go up. That is the kind of ‘change’ THEY voted for, and that is the kind of ‘change’ we are getting

        • Mrrobinson

          which is why we should have started merging over to alternative energy supplies many years ago. Bushie and his oil company cronies nipped that in the bud.
          Keep driving those giant SUV’s when gas goes over $5 a gallon and all US jobs are now overseas!
          American ingenuity should have allowed us to be leaders in the race to alternative energy sources – what Obama is now finally pushing for…except we have an uneducated populace now and the last administration had a vested interest in keeping us addicted to fossil fuels. Reap what you sow!

          • Rene’ Z. L.

            Another Bush-basher who doesn’t have the facts right. Mrrobinson, it might interest you to know that scientists have been experimenting with alternate fuel sources since late 1950′s – from solar to hydrogen to methanol and everything else that you can think of. The problem is the prohibitive costs in developing and producing these energy sources, not to mention the vehicles that these will power. They’re all out there – including ones that run on water and air – but how efficient and dependable are they? The real problem lies on your beloved liberal politicians who are receiving millions of dollars from environmentalist wackos who want to regulate everything including the prevention of the development of domestic fossil fuels which, according to scientists, we have more of than any of the countries that we buy from – and do it without harming the environment. Meantime, the car manufacturers, despite all the prohibitive bureaucratic regulations demanded by your wacko friends like Obama and Gore, have kept up with improving the dependable internal combustion engine, not to mention the aesthetics of the vehicles themselves. It was not “Bushie and his oil cronies”, nor the large SUVs that have caused the rise of the cost of gasoline. Americans drive SUVs because they are dependable, safe, practical and good-looking. That’s the American way – free choice. There’s nothing wrong with finding alternative ways, but for heaven’s sake, don’t kill what’s been working until the replacement is finished and working. Don’t put the cart before the horse. We need to start digging for more oil in the US. This will get rid of the dependence on foreign oil, create more jobs and lower fuel costs.

        The 13th Caliphate will probably be the U.S. with Caliph Obama in charge.

        • MaggieD

          Yeah, and the stupid women who voted for this guy and still think he is “The ONE”, have the most to lose once we get to that point. Unfortunately so do all women once we are forced into burquas and get stoned to death, guilty ot not.

          Wake up women of the world. This so called religion of peace is neither peaceful nor just a religion – it is a total way of life forced on the masses by an intolerant, women hating small group of “leaders” who have figured out how to divide and conquer for over a thousand years.

          Because too few of us realize this and are willing to stand up against it,in a couple of decades, or less, we will all be part of the Muslim Brotherhood or dead with our heads cut off.

          Am I fear mongering?
          Having seen what has happened in just the last few years, I don’t think so. I think I’m a true realist.

          • Jana

            Maggie D,
            On this I agree with you.

          • kate8

            Maggie – There are many who call stating the truth “fear mongering”.

            They will be the ones whining and crying the loudest when things get rough.

            It’s called the “normalcy bias”. This is how people have behaved throughout all of history when ill winds are blowing. Most people are caught completely off-guard, even though the signs were all there and many gave warning.

      Weak on Peace ! Now that’s a good one!

      Hey, We are weak on peace! or is it piece?

      Piece of this piece of that, where is Bill when you really need him?

      “Fighting for peace is like fornicating for virginity”.

      I read that on a bathroom wall in a Cat house off Canal Street in Saigon back in 69″. I still get a chuckle when I think of it.

      As far as what “O” knows, I think a system for gathering and assimilating intelligence has been in place for some time now, from boots on the ground, to spy satellites to covert activity. ~ and every morning, all this data is presented to the President of the United States in professional fashion in a timely manner.

      I’d say, yea! sure! He knows more then most people. Let us hope so.

      • TIME

        I guess you can always dream now can’t you.

        I would rather dream about things like swiming in the clear blue water in the South Pacific with my wife on a bright sunny day.
        With soft white clouds set in a baby blue sky, with the briliant greens of the palms flowing in a gentle breeze and tall grass’s growing and ten foot tall plants with buds as big around as my forearm.

        But If you wish to dream about Barry reading reports thats ok too, a tad strange but thats ok Dude.

        • bob wire

          Dream of what Time? Do you believe “O” is not being informed by the best there is to offer? ~ You think , that I dream that?

      • Jana

        Now why in the world would you remember something as useless as that? And you thought that was funny? It just makes you look like a dirty old man.
        You really do believe in “hiding your faith” and dwelling in anything that is vulgar. No wonder when someone talks about the Lord you feel provoked.

            If you can’t handle mature conservation, about real life experiences sister,

            I’m at a lost to offer you anymore banter or insights.

            From this point forward, please say what you mean and mean what you say or let it go.

            You are indeed a man of many words that hold no value at all.

            Half of your posts sound like ramblings.Your own words make you appear that you are too old and feeble to comprehend what you yourself write, or when even other posters present you with common sense, logic and facts, you still don’t get it.
            I am sure there are a lot of people on this site older than you, but they don’t present themselves as inept like you do.
            If someone doesn’t agree with you you become very condescending.

  • Bruce D.

    John it is not the so called greedy capitalist who has given us what is now the highest corporate rate it the world. That comes from greedy politicians who uses taxes to buy votes. I agree we should not blame China. It is not their fault our politicians are not as smart as theirs. The founders gave government the power to tax imports for a reason. China should be taxed to make up for some of the difference in wages and not letting their money float. Even Brazil is starting to feel the effects of unequal trade with China. With the extra tax money you can lower the tax rates to help cover the extra of goods costs like Sarah Palin did with the oil companies in Alaska. This also will give manufacturing a chance to survive in this country. Start living in the real world John and stop relying on old tired democratic talking points that do nothing to solve problems or give anyone a real understanding of the problems.

    • LES

      I don’t think China necesarly has smarter politicians, they simply are not into buying votes like out politicians

      • Bruce D.

        That is a clever response Les. I liked it.

      • bob wire

        why should they when the can run a tank over you and let the birds and flies clean up?

        • Bruce D.

          Another good one Bob.

  • Eric Bischoff

    Chip, you simply deserve the same comments that Palin and Bachman et al deserve. It’s not about you and if all you can do in times of turmoil is criticize and demonize then you are part of the problem.

    Unlike some of you who see the last election as a mandate for anti abortion, low taxes for the rich like that has ever worked, and low taxes for corporations, as if they are paying much taxes after their lawyers and accountants find every possible loophole and ways to hide their money offshore, I see the last election as a disgusted populace who mostly staid home and the usual characters voted. The usual characters and their thinking being mostly responsible for the mess we are in.

    If we go back another election we see a different picture one wherea lot more people came out to vote and we saw what a difference that can make. Unfortunately those of you who cry about your current mandate forgot to be supportive of the last mandate. As a matter of fact you treasonously did everything to insure that it would fail. Guess what it may be failing. Are you proud!

    I suggest you watch what’s happening in Egypt and the Middle East, and please not the pro Mubarack Fox network version but everything else, especially Al Jazeera, and maybe with an open mind you might learn something.

    INEQUALITY & OPPRESSION always funded by american dollar, because after all where would we be without our Military Industrial Complex industry, is the spark and fuel for a democratic yearning and revolution. No society is immune. It could happen anywhere.

    The question is would we have the humanity to have a largely peaceful revolution as is happening in the middle east, with the exceptions of the paid pro Mubarack thugs in the last 2 days, or will we shoot each other in the streets? How would our police behave? How would our National Guard behave? Would the Army be called in?

    Unfortunately we will probably ignore the lessons and focus instead on that lovely peaceful game called the Super Bowl. After all that is what matters in life.

    Did you know that Super Bowl day is also the biggest day of domestic violence? Watch out ladies!

      If believing that we have the best Republic in the world which offers freedoms other countries do not enjoy, believe that the Constitution is the law of the land, want to stop the spending of our dollars and putting a burden of debt on our children and grandchildren, believe that we have the right to bear arms, and believe that this government has way over stepped their constitutional authority, then I must admit, I am guilty as charged. Yes, you came out in drove in 2008 and voted for the most unqualified person ever to run our country, and run it he has … right into the ground. He has spent 33% more in 2 years than every before in our history. I guess you like the course our country was taking…fortunately for us and our country, most of us disagreed with this administration’s policies. No where in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights does it provide that you have the right to have medical insurance, that you have the right to have a car, a cell phone, or a home. What it does say is that you have the right to “pursue” whatever you want to be happy…that is a lot different that other people and myself providing you these items with our money and not yours. Entitlements are unsustainable, and America is going to have some pain because we simply cannot pay for another 35 million Medicaid recepients…and that, my friend, is just the facts.

      • Dan az

        Every thing reminds me of what was being pushed through in the 60s. They couldnt do it then but with the marxist that they have put into the office to finish their job we need to show all that their plans could never work.Again.
        Cloward-Piven is a strategy for forcing political change through orchestrated crisis.
        The strategy was first proposed in 1966 by Columbia University political scientists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven as a plan to bankrupt the welfare system and produce radical change. Sometimes known as the “crisis strategy” or the the “flood-the-rolls, bankrupt-the-cities strategy,” the Cloward-Piven approach called for swamping the welfare rolls with new applicants – more than the system could bear. It was hoped that the resulting economic collapse would lead to political turmoil and ultimately socialism.
        The National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO), founded by African-American militant George Alvin Wiley, put the Cloward-Piven strategy to work in the streets. Its activities led directly to the welfare crisis that bankrupted New York City in 1975.
        Veterans of NWRO went on to found the Living Wage Movement and the Voting Rights Movement, both of which rely on the Cloward-Piven strategy and both of which are spear-headed by the radical cult ACORN.
        Both the Living Wage and Voting Rights movements depend heavily on financial support from George Soros’s Open Society Institute.

        • usmadgirl

          Dan az,

          Had not read your comment that’s above mine when I wrote it. Just didn’t want you to think I was “copying off your paper”! We covered different points but both mentioned Cloward & Piven strategy & O’Dumbo’s puppet master, George Soros.

          I guess “great minds think alike” or we’ve both been listening to Glenn or just doing our homework!

      • usmadgirl

        You’re exactly right! Uninformed people think that this administration just isn’t up for the task. They actually think that O’Dumbo should fire his economic advisers. Sadly, what some don’t know, is that it’s all being done intentionally. O’Dumbo’s crew KNOWS you don’t spend yourself out of debt. They have to spend us into insolvency in order to collapse the capitalist system so they can create their OWN system. Our government is being orchestrated by George Soros & Union thugs.

        The progressive criminals in the White House & their puppet masters don’t give one diddly squat whether everybody has “health care” or not. It’s for control & intentional OVERWHELMING of the system exactly as they’ve been indoctrinated to do with the Cloward & Piven strategy which they’ve been using for decades to slowly take over our government in order to send us into a Global Government, New World Order.

        I posted that link yesterday on another comment way above. Everything fell into place for the progressives. They’ve been waiting for & organizing a “crisis” of this magnitude (housing market, bank & auto industry failures) since they were dope-smoking, hippie-liberal, radical revolutionaries. Don’t think for a minute that fat, fruity, “Bawney Fwank” & his Dumbocrap majority didn’t tell Bush & the previous administration that FNMA & FHLMC were “secure” for a reason, when he knew perfectly well they were failing…more collapsing of the system. “Bawney”, almost single-handedly, brought on the destruction of the world economy, by his lies, but he is still in office.

        It’s ALL about power, control, greed, Global Social Justice & Global Governance. They worship the Globe (the Creation) not the Creator. They want their “global utopia”, “heaven on earth”! NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

        They need to take down the entire system, just like Van Jones said they were going to do & they’ve almost succeeded. If the “Obamacare” hoax is taken down for being unconstitutional, they might have to “drop back & punt”, but you can bet your butt they’ll come up with something else to replace it. They are closer to their ultimate goal than ever & they’re NOT going to watch it slip away. If the laws show it’s unconstitutional, they’ll just change the laws to suit their agenda. By hook or mostly crook, they’re going to continue their agenda until we look like Haiti.

        Jobs have been sent to other countries, not only so companies can make more money, but for Social Justice. Spread the wealth! Take the jobs away from Americans & give to the poorer countries. What about O’Dumbo halting off shore drilling, but then giving Brazil billions of dollars to drill off shore even deeper than we were when the rig blew up? How convenient that rig explosion was!

        All of this has been gradually creeping into our lives for years, but we’ve barely noticed until this administration started overwhelming us by shoving all this crap down our throats at lightning speed all at once. Thank God some of us are awake! I hope we’ll all be more aware of what’s going on in our Republic from now on…if we still HAVE a Republic!

        • Dan az

          Keep up the good fight girl either way it plays out their not going to win this one!

          • usmadgirl

            Dan az & Jana,

            Thanks! It’s just something new EVERY SINGLE DAY! When you think things can’t possibly get any worse, something else appears out of nowhere. Just heard today that Ruth Bader Ginsburg shot down the fast-track to get rid of “O’Dumbocare”! She’s too old & sick to be rationally voting for anything – not that she voted rationally BEFORE she got old & sick!

            Then today I got the Rand Paul message from Liberty Alert about Hillary’s UN Global Gun Control – Small Arms Treaty. If they succeed in passing that, conservatives will be sitting ducks just waiting to be “picked off”!

            I just get frustrated & have to vent to keep from screaming, crying or shaking the crap out of idiots because they’re too stupid, blind or deaf to UNDERSTAND, SEE or HEAR what’s going on!!!

          • Dan az

            The treaties that they want to pass are unconstitutional and dont have a chance in hell to pass two thirds senate vote they are just hail mary’s from obummer and billary.Why do you think this nation has never been invaded? The same reason they cant just go door to door and collect the guns.Just aint gunna happen.What needs to be done though is to force the speaker to vet this imposter then impeach him along with all of his cronies then and only then can we start to return to sanity.

          • usmadgirl

            Dan az,

            I’ve been asking why we can’t impeach him for treason for 2 years. If what he’s done & still doing isn’t trying to overthrow our government, I have no idea what is! With his ideas about the Constitution being a “flawed document”, how could he LEGITIMATELY take an OATH to swear to UPHOLD a Constitution that he thinks is flawed? That’s like an atheist swearing on the Bible! It means nothing to him! Not to mention his offending our few allies & bowing to our many enemies!

            Another thing that worries me – he doesn’t CARE if what he does is unconstitutional! And why weren’t citizens more concerned than they were when O’Dumbo removed Reagan’s restraints on INTERPOL to be immune to the Constitution, US laws & search & seizure? This has bothered me from day one. Maybe that’s where O’Dumbo is hiding all his records – sounds like the perfect place to me, where NO ONE has the right to “search & seize”!

            I hope & pray that Congressman Issa speeds up his investigation of this administration & finds that O’Dumbo is NOT qualified to be president & everything they’ve done is unconstitutional & be null & void, BUT will we ever be able to repair the damage he’s already done?

          • usmadgirl

            Dan az,

            I meant to put the link to the INTERPOL article on my comment, but forgot. Here it is:

          • Dan az

            That looks like a perfect place to hide something that know one would ever have a chance of getting to.I think your right!As far as other countries being able to by pass our constitution is absurd but I have read some where that the UN know has the same powers and that we could be sued or worse by the world court.

          • Dan az

            Thanks for the site it took me to so many others that blew my mind thanks so much.

        • Jana

          You have hit the nail on the head. This is why I have said we can thank Obama for waking us up and putting us on alert. It’s not too late to “fix” this country.

          • usmadgirl

            My comment above is for you too. It’s just looks pretty bleak sometimes. I’m afraid without “Divine Intervention”, this administration, unions, Muslim Brotherhood, the Chinese & all the president’s radical revolutionaries, & basic brain dead fools have us outnumbered!

          • Jana

            Wow, I hadn’t heard about Ginsberg shooting down the fast track to find for or against the Health Care.
            This is WHAT we have in control of the Gov’t.??? Sad days. We just keep doing what we know to do and PRAY.

    • Jeep

      Eric, it is very simple…if you hate America so much, please feel free to exit the ride at any time of your convenience. Thank you and have a good trip to any socialist country of your choice.

      • bob wire

        Eric don’t hate America JEEP, he’s doing his part to save it.

        He is asking you this morning some questions that you don’t want to even consider.

        Look “both ways” before you cross the street. Road pizza is road pizza and can be made on anything.

        • Jeep

          bob (with a little “b”, very appropriate) you are very silly. Thanks for the laugh at your expense. Any time one suggests getting my “news” from Al Jazeera, and blames America for all the petty dictators of the world, I will take him at his word. What part of the snide America hating comments did you miss?

          • bob wire

            glad you enjoyed it JEEP! anything to get you to relax and feel better, even if for a second.

            When you listen to a horse, you must learn to think as a horse. “Where is my bucket! I want it now! I am ready to eat! ” It’s time!”

            When you listen to a dog, you must think as a dog. ” Are you deaf? can’t you hear me scratching at the back door!” ” There is somebody out here, I don’t know them and I don’t like the way they move about”

            When you listen to a wife or lover, no different. It’s in the face, “You not going to do that again are you?”

            News and data is no different JEEP, they are all telling you “something”

            To blind yourself to things unlike yourself just because you don’t agree, leads to only more conflict and misunderstanding.

          • Jeep

            Your response is as void of competence as it is of common sense. Sure, I could “listen” to Al Jazeera all day, I actually do in my job, and hear all the commentary about how Israel and the US are destroying the Muslim way of life in the middle east. Or, I could “listen” to MSNBC and catch all the latest liberal catch phrases for Palin or “investment”. I choose my free time (as a free American) to spend my time otherwise. At the same time, I would contend that in the “conservative” media outlets there is a modicum of fairness that is not present in your liberal press. I would also contend that the average conservative has a more developed capacity to discern truth than the average lefty, such as yourself. It is painfully obvious that progressives in America cannot understand simple concepts such as what I earn I should keep, or what I eat is my concern, not the govt’s. You and I will never agree, because what I have you want, and I don’t about care what you have.

          • Eric Bischoff

            No Jeep it is painfully obvious that you are exactly what you accuse others to be and that is incapable of opening your heart and mind and understanding anything else outside of your obtuse, close minded, hard hearted, limited space. I bet you get all of your beliefs from Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush , Beck, et al… Snap out of it sad little man. You are what’s wrong with this country. We send you to school, buy you books and what do you do, you bite the teacher.

          • Eric Bischoff

            Read Dr Graves ” Spiral Dynamics”

            Then ask your self why would you want to hang on to the orange pattern related to the me me me pattern. My money my resources my my my. The level some of us Americans are ready/trying to get to is the Yellow Integrative level where we finally integrate and apply all we’ve learned avoiding harm to others and the environment. If we can finally integrate the achieving/capable/just do it orange level with the green higher ideals and respect for all but lacking ability to properly organize and deliver, just think what a grand level yellow will be.

            Beige – Survival
            Purple – Magical, Myth, Tribal
            Red Egocentric, Exploitative, Tyrants Dictators, Gangs
            Blue – Authoritarian, Fundamentalist & organized religions, military
            Orange Achievist/Strategiic, Scientific & Industrial Revolution, me me me Wall St (just blew up)
            Green – communitarian/egalitarian, Sacrifice self interest for group harmony
            Yellow Integrative Expresing self and desires avoiding harm to others, all life, environment
            Turquoise – Holistic, sacrifice self interest

            The important lessons are that you can’t skip levels without experiencing them first (that’s the problem with forcing democracy down Iraqis throats) People can and do float in multiple levels as they ready themselves to ascend to higher levels. Thus the frustration of dealing with others who don’t see things like you.

            I am longing for Integrative big time.

          • Jeep

            Eric, leave your armchair psychology at home. It doesn’t work on me. Yeah, I will proudly proclaim “ME, ME, ME.” It’s called FREEDOM. Freedom from the tyranical worldview you possess. It IS my choice. At least for now. Sure, you can attack my compassion and capacity to “feel” for others. I really do not care what you think. And, I do not have to defend my “giving” towards the “betterment of society” to you either. In America, we have the choice to participate in the “well being” of others, or to reamin aloof. In your socialist worldview that is not the case. It is not a matter of symantics, either. The fact is, you would have me spend a portion of my day working for others (through taxation). I believe that if I want to provide welfare payments to the “under”-privilidged it should be my choice (through charity). Call me a sad little man, but you are a tyrant. Which is worse?

          • Jeep

            BTW, I went to a private school that my parents paid for, and worked my way through college without a student loan, or grant. Can you say that you didn’t steal money from the public trough for your education?

          • bob wire

            Okay JEEP, if that’s the way you want it! We can’t play that game too!

            but only went I find in fun and amusing. ~ Enemies to the death we shall be, I don’t have a bit of a problem referring to you as the enemy and will from this time forward treat you accordingly.

            You happy?

          • Eric Bischoff

            Yes Jeep my parents send me to private schools as well. In Montreal I was not allowed to go to public school if I wasn’t baptized (Authoritative Organized Religion blue level) . The irony is that the private schools were run by Jesuits. They were willing to take the money and look the other way. I also went to public school in Paris and then in Arizona for a couple of years. And yes the quality of education in the public schools in Arizona was clearly lacking.

            You can hang on to whatever belief you want as well as your money. I understand the from my dead cold hands mentality, I just don’t follow it and I will not come for your property with a gun either. I believe in and try to follow the 2 basic tenets of common law. Do what you have agreed to do and do not encroach on others or their property.

            Our belief in the social net obviously comes from different points of view. I believe that we are ready to value all life above all else and organize our economies to support it. You wish to trust that charity will cover it. I am personally offended by a system that allows a few to be super wealthy on the backs of the masses and this 1% then pat themselves by doing charity.

            If the super wealthy employed more people and paid them better wages the inequality would wane and we would have a lot less inequality, a lot less misery and a lot less terrorism.

            Can you truthfully say that charity is handling things so that no one is living in the streets or that no one goes hungry.

            A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link. United we stand divided we fall.

          • Karolyn

            Jeep – Are you not a part of the world? Is the US not a part of the world? We are all a part of the whole. We really are all one. All children of the same universal intelligence. We are not really separate, though so many think that is true.

          • eddie47d

            Eric; Jeep is standing his ground and that is fine with me. Unfortunately many conservatives brag that charity giving is optional but all too often that is code for they don’t give at all. It’s okay to watch your money but too often they take money out of their wallet and it has a string attached to it. As for their being open minded …not a chance for that steel trap closed many moons ago.

          • JeffH

            eddie says, “many conservatives brag that charity giving is optional but all too often that is code for they don’t give at all.” Fortunately that is just eddie’s opinion and eddie has nothing to back it up with, like facts. DO YOU?

          • eddie47d

            That is really none of your business but I did do business with alot of conservatives and saw that often. So think for yourself and stop being so childish.

          • JeffH

            That’s OK eddie! I didn’t expect a “real” definative answer from you anyway.

          • Vicki

            eddie47d says:
            “Unfortunately many conservatives brag that charity giving is optional but all too often that is code for they don’t give at all. ”

            Another easy to invalidate Eddie47D factoid.

            To eddie, eric and karolyn,

          • Jeep

            Really bob? Enemies to the death? What a kind of a person are you? Or, is the better question, what kind of American are you? Such a terrible statement from one so enlightened and charitable. If you choose it to so, then so be it! However, be forwarned, I really don’t think you want me as your “enemy”, and certainly not “to the death”.

        • Conservative at Birth

          Why are you Toalitarian Socialists on this web site. I believe that it is basically a conservatibe-liberty forum. Do you really think most of the people reading these posts believe anything you have to say? Why don’t you go an live in your utopian country and leave us alone?

            Angel Wannabe, JoeH & Kate8,

            As the song goes, “You’ve got to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything”! I guess that sums up what happened in the 2008 presidential election!

            I too KNOW where I stand & will NOT waiver! That’s why I don’t agree with some about supporting people like Donald Trump, Mitt Romney & a few other suggestions for the next GOP candidate. They are RINOs. I’m not sure that Donald Trump is anything but a moderate progressive! I was told (don’t know for certain) that he contributed to Rahm Emanuel’s campaign.

        I don’t hate America, quite the opposite, I don’t even hate the morons who have been screwing it up although they make it very hard sometimes,. What I hate is hypocrisy, bigotry, mysogynist and racist behavior and the lack of compassion.

        • JeffH

          Eric the Red was just born with hate, not his fault. It’s commonly found in the commie progressive’s gene pool.

    Most of what I read here, are interesting, and I have to say, I agree with. I agree with all of you who wants Nobama out of the Whitehouse. This man does not have enough common sense to be holding this office. I won’t go into the details as I would be on the computer all day. Let’s get rid of Nobama and his Zombies (Democrats) in 2012.

  • Demoncrat Exorist

    Before a country like America can be socialized, the politicians have to transform it into a poor state full of peasants overseen by a rich ruling class. The Clintons started the destruction of America with legislation like NAFTA and GATT. They repealed good legislation, (the Glass-Steagall Act) that prevented banks from speculating with depositor’s money.

    Clinton also authorized Fannie and Freddie to make loans to unqualified borrowers based on race alone. Hillary even tried to privatize Social Security and everyone should remember Hillary-care. Imagine how much worse off Americans would be today if Hillary had gotten her way. The Clintons tried to create a socialist welfare state, and we are experiencing the results of their agenda today.

    The Dike of Deception is continuing where the Clintons and Bush left off. Bush gave us the Patriot Act, The Department of Homeland Security, the TSA, and CAFTA. You see the results of the Patriot Act and how the Department of Homeland Security, (vis-à-vis
    the TSA), has abused their authority. The Constitution was circumvented, as was our right to freedom from unwarranted and unreasonable search.

    The right to freedom of speech is also under threat, and it’s only a matter of time before we loose our right to speak out against government. Unless all of the legislation that put us here is repealed, we will continue the downward spiral until they reach their goal of a one world socialist government. The deceiver in chief is merely following the lead of other socialist tyrants, and he has to lie. Why not lie when you are the best at it?

    • bob wire

      well it started much sooner then that my friend, but if that’s where you walked into this bad movie , I understand.

    • Ted Crawford

      Did you see that there is a special program set to air on MSNBC about Clinton titled….. now wait for it…… The President of the World?!

      • bob wire

        as old as he is getting, I don’t think he could handle that much tail.

    • wandamurline

      They may be able to make us poor, but they will NEVER take away our patriotism. We will be like Egypt before we crawl under the guise of safety to an unconstitutional government. We will revolt, just as our forefathers did in 1776. The question will be if our armed services stand with us…I believe that they will because they actually take their oath to uphold the Constitution and protect the people of this country seriously. Obama did one thing FOR this country, with his blatant disregard for anything or anyone, he got the silent majority up in arms and we are no longer silent. We have done a lot to change things in Washington … but we cannot stop working to dismantle this administration…if not by the vote, then with whatever means necessary. It will come to that if things don’t change.

      • bob wire

        well? If he did that, got you off your a$$ets and got you motivated where you can see the GOP has been left running amuck for years, that’s a good thing and might well be worth my efforts.

        I was beginning to think, that you’d never wake up!

        • Allan Halbert

          Obama hasn’t anyone anything about the GOP, nor has any other Progressive spokesperson. They sure like to talk to us as though we need their take on things. We like conservative values. The GOP sometimes abandons those principles for personal gain, and we are well aware of those occasions regardless of what Obama, or Progressives, or Republicans have to say. The only thing Obama has shown us is behavior that confirmed what we expected from him. In so doing he helped bring the extremism of a previously more stealthy Progressive movement into the cold light of day. That is what we want to defeat, and were glad to add self-serving Republicans to the reject pile.

      • Mike

        Don’t count on the armed forces, Although there are honorable people in it, the majority of today’s armed forces are in it for one and only reason….a paycheck and benefits. It has become a job for many nothing else. And they will not care if they fight in Afghanistan or if they fight a domestic terrorist uprising…because mark my words, that is what it will be called.

      go see a Dr. he may can fix it. it will not be cheap with this health care rip off we currently have in the US but hey that is what we want right?

  • Marc de Piolenc

    Clinton was the first president to use the word “investment” as a substitute for “spending.” Obama is a liar, but not an original liar.

    • bob wire

      well prior to Willy, we had Reagan’s “increases in deficient reduction”

      Now would you expect something like that to go unchallanged?

      • Conservative at Birth

        Shame on you. The Democrats controlled both houses during Reagan’s 8 years in office. Who creates the budget and authorises all spending? Is it the President or the House of Representatives. Don’t you remember the statements from Tip O Neal that Reagan’s budget was DOA?

        • bob wire

          LOL! too funny, ~ I’m just saying, “increase in deficit reduction” is hard to beat when it comes to double talking politicians.

          It the lawyer coming out! I don’t know if you ever read Harry Read’s response to an old uncle that was found, sentenced and hanged for stealing horses or not. ~but it’s riot !

    • Carlucci

      I think Clinton also referred to taxes as “contributions”. I remember my dad having a hissy fit over that.

      • bob wire

        right! he did say that! too funny!, My contribution into the SSS is now a little over a million and I can retire at 776.00 per month.

        Just think if I could have contributed 10 million, ~ I’d be rich!

        thanks goodness I made all those “contribution’s” think of where I might be otherwise! ??????????????

  • Lita Z. Biejo

    Obama is a congenital liar but a very lousy one as majority do not believe him.He speaks well and has a great rhetorics. However, it is his kind that makes me worry. All talks but no action. It is always the doer not the talker who brings our country prosperity. Unfortunately, americans do not want to educate themselves they just want to listen to false rhetorics given by these glib talkers. It’s sad.

  • Lita Z. Biejo

    Obama is a gullible talker and it is sad that many still listen to his lousy lies.

    • bob wire

      sadder still you can’t hear for not wanting to listen.

      • Conservative at Birth

        Listen to what? Drivel?

        • Karolyn

          Like what you spout?

        • bob wire

          Well SIR, after 8 years of seeming to enjoy distasteful, uninspired drivel that got us nowhere but dug us a deep hole so deep that we can’t see out, ~ I question your sense of knowing the finer qualities of drivel when it’s being offered to you.

  • CJM

    While I agree with the sentiments of the article, one thing is to be made clear: Obama cannot lower corporate taxes, he can only affix his signature to a bill that passes through Congress. However, Obama is an imposter and as such, anything he signs can be nullified and voided as law if (and when) an investigation PROVES his heritage is of another nationality. It is unfortunate we do not have congressional members who are willing to force this issue…so our next step is either impeach him or force him to resign and Obama isn’t willing to give up his new found powers as the dictator in chief.

  • peter robison

    It seems strange to me that that the right considered the up beat speeches by Ronald Reagan to be exaclty what the country needed, and yet the same inspiring up beat message from President Obama is considered empty platitudes. And for the benefit of the uninformed who continually rail against the so called Obama deficit, approximately 50% of the deficit went for middle income tax cuts, and the other 50% bank bail out was started under Bush and inherited my Obama. Since the right wing think that tax cuts are the answer to everything that ails the country, you should be applaud the “Obama” deficit. I know this doesn’t fit with the right wing agenda, but you need to get your facts straight.

    • JIBBS

      If Bush started the bailouts, Why did labamba keep handing them out ? He could have just said “no more” or what about bringing our troops back home and stopping the war….I’m still waiting and wodering.

      • bob wire

        good point JIBBS and dead on!

        Thank you!

        It’s speculation on anyone’s part, and we can’t chase down the bullet and put it back in the gun.

        Personally, I believe it was choreographed and someone blinked, pulling funding on a Friday night which started a chain of responses that could no longer be hidden or conceal from the public.

        I propose, a small few on WALL street was hiding the fact they were taking on water and been pumping and bailing for sometime , transferring money around and keeping up appearance.

        With an election coming up and a new Captain and crew coming aboard soon, it was going to get harder and harder to do this. They knew they was going to lose some influence, but how much was uncertain.

        When “these money people” felt that MC Cain bid for office was going to tank and the new Administration would in fact be DNC, ~ they pulled their funds and cut their liabilities and losses.

        There were some hopes to continue the “shell game” and the bleeding off of profit as long as possible. Perhaps continue it with the new administration if things went well.

        But someone blinked, someone got scared, someone said “To hell with this!” and took their marbles out of the game and stared an avalanche of events that caught everyone else by surprise.

        This sent Bush a making plans to avoid the ship of state from sinking under his watch ~at any cost! He was so close to being out the door!

        He was willing to give up a lot of conservative principals to see it happen!

        It was about this time “O” walked in. ~ in hind sight, many things should have been done differently.

        First off, Bankers shouldn’t have this much sway or latitude. Shouldn’t be allowed to be too big to fail while claiming to be a private business interest.

        Second, Government should have allowed them fall on their assets! Reap the rewards of their actions and performance. Let in fall, and the market pressures prevail. ~ Like nasty tasting medicine, it may be hard to swallow but it heals.

        you can fault “O”, you can fault “W”, in fact I know of few people void of some guilt and blame.

        They got the tail wagging the dog, and it’s not just here in this country but world wide.

        The few truly powers people can live any damn where they want too!

        • Eric Bischoff

          And if I may add Bob,

          I am not a fan of bailouts. Especially bailing out the banksters and Wall St who just recklessly gambled and destroyed the world economy. They are responsible for way too much poverty and despair. We should investigate and people should go to jail.

          I can see a distinction between bailing out fiat paper money systems which don’t add value as opposed to bailing out manufacturing type of industries that create real value and products.

          If we value Venture Capitalists for taking chances and launching new industries and disruptive technologies, we can certainly admit that our government with access to extremely cheap capital can spur industries that will insure quality infrastructure that attracts businesses and keep americans employed

          We need gutsy progressive leaders to give us worthwhile visions that we may not always be ready for. We can’t just say no to every new idea.

          Past administrations have sparked the space race which has given us a robust computer industry and telecommunications industry as well as a solar energy industry.

          Our infrastructure is crumbling and it is embarrassing when you see what others in the world are doing.

          I am sorry but the private sector would have never built the railroad tracks across america without the govt’s help. It’s time for High Speed Trains.

          Small air taxis that can take off and land automatically are ready. and waiting. That requires revamping our airports, towers, radars and more.

          We invented the Internet. The government invested in it and got it started. The current companies inherited it and at leas they owe us Net Neutrality. It’s time for heavy investment in high speeed broadband. We are way behind. There is a lotof dark fiber in the ground. It’s time to light it up and extend to the homes and businesses.

          It’s time for a Manhattan project on Clean, Renewable, Alternative Energy. Full speed ahead, we are so close. The payback is energy security and deficit reduction. What are we waiting for.

          A topic largely ignored due to the lack of understanding or sexiness is efficiency. Our buildings are the biggest energy pigs. This can be fixed without massive amounts of money. Here is an effort that would easily pay for itself in savings all while employing people again.

          Increase our economy, increase our tax collection, reduce deficits, improve security, reduce our debt. These are all worthwhile investments, it’s not welfare. Reframe your thinking.

    • Jeep

      I don’t know where you get your “facts” from. But, your thinking is wrong. The deficts run up by this administration are from real dollars being spent on, well, stuff. To count a tax “cut” as spending is like saying the govt earned the money in the first place. Every dollar spent by the govt is yours to start with. If the govt takes less, then it should spend less. Period. Or, is that too much for your socialist pea brain to handle? Let me sum it up, silly boy, govt spending more than it takes in equals deficit. Govt tax cuts equal more money in the pockets of Americans to spend on the economy. Too simple.

      • Eric Bischoff

        If you have a budget and estimated tax rteceopts and then you cut taxes then you should equally cut spending somewhere. Unfortunately that is not happening is it.

        The Bush administration cut taxes and increased spending.

        Like it or not the Obama administration inherited a disaster and a giant mess. You have to be honest and ask yourself. Who in their right mind would want that job. How would you fix it. Where would you start? And I amsure that every time you peel the onion back you find a bigger mess.

        It’s a bit hypocritical to hand someone the keys to a bankrupt corrupt business and then sit on the sideline for 2 years and block every attempt to fix things and then pretend that you had nothing to do with the mess and it’s all his fault. But still many of you here take this position.

    • Conservative at Birth

      Obama voted for TARP which was a mistake in my mind.

    • Rene’ Z. L.

      Speaking of UNINFORMED and “getting facts straight”, Peter Robison, if you would check deeper, the bail out by George W was requested by Obama before W left office. And because Mr. Bush has so much class, he is remaining silent even when Obama, the liar and coward that he is, keeps saying Bush initiated the bail outs. Here again, regarding the “inherited problems” let me remind you that Bush was working with a democrat-controlled congress. And let me remind you further that it is CONGRESS that is in charge of financial and budgetary matters and not the president. Congress is the comptroller and they’re the ones that create and legislate bills that raise government revenues. In other words, they’re in charge of the money and money matters – among others. You check your facts.

      • Francis Forrester

        Hello Rene’z, L. you’re WRONG.

        Obama did not introduce TARP. These are the facts:

        Frank Introduces TARP Reform and Accountability Legislation

        Washington, DC – House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) today introduced H.R. 384, the TARP Reform and Accountability Act to amend the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) provisions of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA). The legislation will strengthen accountability, close loopholes, increase transparency, and require Treasury to take significant steps on foreclosure mitigation.

        TARP Update Provided at ULI’s Economic Forum

        An update on federal efforts to aid the nation’s financial system through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) was recently provided to Urban Land Institute (ULI) full members by former U.S. Sen. John Sununu (R-New Hampshire). Having served as one of the members of the TARP congressional oversight panel, Sununu provided an overview of the program at the first of a series of economic forums hosted by ULI in the Washington, for those in its most prestigious membership category.

        TARP, enacted in the fall of 2008, allows the U.S. government to purchase up to $700 billion of assets that are difficult to value, including residential or commercial mortgages, securities, and obligations from financial institutions in order to strengthen the financial sector. Sununu said he voted for TARP because, “We were facing an unprecedented lack of confidence and lack of normal activity and operation in our credit markets and that only the U.S. government had the wherewithal to address those issues.”

        According to Sununu, some of the actions resulting from TARP–such as the program being largely shunned by healthy banks leery of restrictions associated with accepting the funds–provide insight into the consequences of the federal government perhaps acting before carefully thinking through the problem. While Congress must address the root causes of the economic recession, its actions must not inhibit initiatives by healthy institutions that could help spur an economic recovery, he said. “As Congress and market participants consider policy ideas and regulations designed to address the issues that led to the crisis, we must always come back to what led to the underlying causes, and ask how a particular idea addresses those problems, while still maintaining the best elements of a system of competitiveness, disclosure, transparency and innovation,” Sununu said.

        Sununu outlined five major causes of the financial market meltdown, all of which resulted in an economic “house of cards”:

        * The Federal Reserve Board’s decision to lower interest rates in 2001, which, although made in response to the dot-com bust, fueled a buying frenzy due to the housing boom occurring at the time;
        * Public policies, ranging from the federal home mortgage interest deduction to first-time home buyer assistance programs that emphasized homeownership as a national goal and thus encouraged a loosening of underwriting standards;
        * Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac going beyond their mission of facilitating liquidity in the secondary mortgage market and engaging in the purchase of subprime mortgage-backed securities (That, said Sununu, “gave a green light to anyone creating those securities and underwriting subprime mortgages.”);
        * Unjustifiably high ratings of the securities by credit rating agencies; and
        * Participants at both the wholesale and retail level–borrowers, lenders, builders, mortgage brokers and real estate agents–who took advantage of the situation to create an unsustainable housing market based on the myth that housing values would appreciate indefinitely.

        Now, the economy is in a state of “global deleveraging,” and, as a result, when a turnaround begins, “it (the economy) will be growing from a level of lower credit, lower borrowing and lower leveraging than we were at six to 12 months ago,” Sununu said.

        TARP was designed to stabilize the financial markets, not initiate economic growth, he noted. “TARP was meant to create an environment in which lenders will again lend to creditworthy businesses and individuals,” Sununu explained. While the initial capitalization program under TARP was intended to maintain the strong standing of healthy banks, he noted that these many of these banks have declined the funds due to concerns over restrictions that might be placed on them for accepting the federal funds. Citing restrictions that were added to the TARP program in the recent economic stimulus package, he said, “Something may sound like a great idea, but it can have unintended consequences, and create new risks we have to deal with down the line…Congress has shown a willingness to change the rules after the fact, and that is not something firms are willing to expose themselves to.

        In essence, if you dont know until now, deregulation was part of the failure and ultimate collapse of the financial system.

        • Rene’ Z. L.

          Hey, Francis Forrester – You addressed your response to the wrong guy. TARP was not my subject. Look again, will you?

        • Jana

          Frances Rorrester,
          Maybe you had better learn to read a little better too.

          Obama voted for TARP which was a mistake in my mind.

          No one said he “Introduced it”.

    • Rene’ Z. L.

      That was no “inspiring upbeat message” Obama delivered. He was saying, “Re-elect me, you stupid people!!!”

    • Allan Halbert

      Tax cuts and bailouts are different things, and most conservatives on this site did not approve of the bailouts. But then, I realize liberals don’t think conservatives think for themselves.

  • Joey Biden

    Whenever Obama opens his mouth out comes lies, fiction, half truths and deception. No wonder he became President so easily.

  • Rene’ Z. L.

    I watched the SOTU, not from admiration, but just so that I would know what the commentators would be talking about, and not until after I made sure I had taken my blood pressure medication. Seeing this man speak with his head cocked high and looking over his nose just irritates the liver out of me. And then the lies and condescension – he must either think we’re all so stupid that he keeps repeating talking points that have been proven false or wrong or he’s so stupid that he doesn’t know and care. This crap about sounding and acting like he really cares about America and Americans is nothing but bovine dung! The only person he cares about is Barack Hussein Obama and his re-election. He fantasizes about high speed rails and alternative energy development. I’m a healthy 64 yrs old driving a gasoline car. I hope to live another 25-30 yrs and unless they can build an affordable and comparatively efficient vehicle that runs on something other than gasoline, I won’t be changing anytime soon. Why, if he really cares about us, does he restrict digging for oil in the states? What percentage of the total population drive gasoline cars vs. alternate fuel cars? He talks about caring for the middle class, the middle class cannot afford $4 and $5.00/gal gasoline. I have never actively participated in electing public officials other than voting but I sure as hell am going to work for Mr. Obama’s replacement. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma and I’m glad to have representatives who support my views but Obama and his cohorts have to go.

    • Allan Halbert

    • usmadgirl

      Rene’ Z, L.

      Amen to all of your comment. I’m in agreement with everything you said. I watched the SOTU as I yelled at the TV just so I could see how many more ways he could spin his lies. You’re the first person I’ve seen (besides me) talking about his arrogant head cocked & looking down his nose at all his “subjects”!

      I’ll be driving my 2 gas vehicles until they do away with them & then I guess I’ll have to ride a bike! Luckily, mine both get about 30 MPG, but still can’t afford $5.00 per gallon gas!

      My representatives USED to vote my views, but have turned into RINOs. Senator Lamar Alexander will do something great on one issue then something idiotic on the next. Senator Bob Corker is a huge disappointment. He was previously the mayor of Chattanooga, my home town & was instrumental in making this one of the cleanest cities in the country. It’s the only major city that has gained growth in the past 20 years, but since he’s been in Washington, he’s turned into a RINO. We lost the best congressman, Zach Wamp, when he ran for Governor & lost to a RINO & I don’t know how his replacement in our district is going to vote. You can bet we’ll be watching!

      A huge portion of my deceased husband’s family has lived in Tulsa for about 20 years. They’re from here & they too are conservatives. I’m in contact with them almost daily. They’ll be standing with you to rid our government of the “plague” that’s in the White House!

  • dave

    One thing for sure Francis,any one after hearing the SOTU,would even utter the words under any cicumstances,’I would trust Obama’ is either blind deaf and dumb,or lives in a bubble!And people quit blaming China,Iraq,Afghanistan,Iran,Or any other person president or otherwise.The one’s at fault,and completely at fault are(hang onto your shorts)WE THE PEOPLE!We voted them in and over the years all the signals were given to us!We did not pay attension, wre pacified,duped saddened ,elated and bullsh—D to death,and saddley did nothing.And he we are again,letting them do the same thing again,And guess what my own country idiots,We are at a nother crisis in this country and they have ingeniously divided us again so as they can get their way with us once more! Give yourselves a pat on the back everyone Both your teams WON.Congradulations———Who wants the IDIOTS OF THE DECADE OSCAR!Now don’t everyone run to the podium-we only have one!And the winner is ——WE THE PEOPLE.

  • Charles

    No doubt! Obama is an artist of tricks,in words that he speaks, or even in the way he acts.How many times has he changed a word to make it sound like it means something else.It`s been proven over and over that a lot of people will fall for this. He did it in Washington
    at the day of prayer by claiming he is a Christian. The people in
    attendence when hearing him say this fell all over themseleves.They
    seam to have forgotten who he brought along with him to Washington to help run the goverment.

  • LiarsMustBeDefeated

    Oh, You saw it too? What are we going to … DO … about it?

  • http://! Angel Wannabe

    Personally, Nothing Obama says has ANY credibility.I can’t watch one speech of his, without seeing the word Lie written all over his face.
    I remember his campaign, proclaiming over & over again TRANSPARENCY and BI-PARTESANSHIP and I will not raise your taxes.
    I’ve learned not to listen what Washington does, but rather watch what they do. This Administrations has alienated the Constitution, and His appearance of even being mildly concerned about America and her people, causes me to know deep in my heart, its an act of desperation and a ploy to get re-elected. When he does, it WILL BE business as usual._ Our answer should be, not just No, but a resounding HELL NO!
    I quietly remember shaking my head, the conversations with my Dad before he died seven years ago. His rants a raves, that Communists & Socialists would eventually take over America. I still recall telling him to calm down and not believing him. I can’t tell you, How I wish he was here, to tell him he was right. 81 Socialists have infiltrated Congress!__My Dad would turn over in his grave.
    Progressive Entitlements (money for nothing and your chicks for free, can anyone say Clinton?), the deliberate destruction/alienation of the Constitution, year after year of driving out of industry, manufacturing and oil production, the enactment of Obamacare when the majority of the people wanted reform NOT A TAKE OVER.
    We Americans have been driven from living in the shining city on the hill, to nothing more than multicultural slaves, and each generation thereafter. I look at my 19 month old Grandson and all I can do is shake my head and wonder what will be.
    America’s headed for a tough time, Prepare & Pray, the future was written by God,_ thy will be done.

  • Charles

    This man knows exactly what he is doing.In the middle east Obamas
    movement is doing what he would like to see and do in America. The people slowed him down in the election of 2010.He has not changed,but
    has altered his course somewhat. A lot of people will fall for this. It is up to us to get out the truth about him and try to help people
    understand what he really stands for. However, some people never will
    believe the truth even if it hit them in the face.

  • john

    From a different John, I will be changing my handle.

    Have you heard the latest?

    The obama administration is currently paving the way for the muslim brotherhood to take over Egypt.

    I’m an Independent, but it’s ironic how he refers to Republicans as enemies. And how he has failed to listen to the American people’s voice. Yet he goes out of his way to please our real enemies. He refuses to this day to acknowledge the term “Terrorist” and that we ARE at war with them.

    Unfortunately, obama has been an embarrassment to this Great Country. Our “real enemies” are laughing at us and taking advantage because they know they can have their way with us.

  • Charles

    Angel Wannabe,
    You have hit it on the head. I do believe the name Socialists
    should however be changed to Marxist.There are no more liberals, just Progressives. Hillary Clinton said on TV >>> Don`t call
    me a Liberal any more, call me a Progressive.The two go together
    Liberals and Socialists >>>> Progressives and Marxist.

  • Charles

    I too, am a Independent. I hope our other brothers ( Ind. ) now see,
    what this man and his goverment is all about. After all, it was most of other brothers that got him elected in the first place.

    • john

      I agree, it doesn’t take too much research to figure out that obama is destroying this Country. And that his motives are anti-American. Anyone who wants to argue against this must also be anti-American themselves. Everything obama has done and is doing is contrary to what we the American people stand for, NOT what the misguided minority wants.

  • Nuts

    I have read most of the comments on this page. Bob wire is the result of stupidity and ignorance merging into one person. He feels compelled to comment to any post that makes any sense at all and try to defend this administrations freedom robbing policies. He will not accept the fact that obama is incompetent and unable to lead anything let alone the USA.

    • JeffH

      bob’s a story teller. Unlike those that sit around the pot belly stove at the general store in the dead of winter with nothing else to do but tell stories. With bob, what could be said with just a few words becomes a tale of two cities. I hope he’s as good at building jigsaw puzzels.

      • bob wire

        ha ha , ~ “That made any sense”?? are you kidding me?

        guess I need to get my decoder ring back out!

        Seems I left it in the cigar box with my yo-yo, maybe I can find it!

          • bob wire

            yes, you are one unto yourself Jeff, ~ and I rarely find need to lean on you hard. Forgive me, you are worthy of more attention(and consideration)

            But I’m are working on the bell curve here and you have indeed been slighted.

          • JeffH

            Ahhh, I get it. You’re one of the Bell Curve’s “cognitive elite”. Now, I realize I’ve seen its face.

        • libertytrain

          Jeff – you know I love ya, but I have to say some of Bob’s more recent posts have made me realize that he’s growing on me. I’m not saying I like him, just saying, I don’t think I dislike him. Perhaps I’ve become ambivalent towards him :) .

          • JeffH

            libertytrain, I don’t dislike bob either.

          • Carlucci

            I think bob wire just likes to start it up, stir the pot, then sits back and watches what happens.

          • http://deleted Claire

            libertytrain– You are correct, I have read a lot of his posts too, and he does/has made sense in a lot of them. I won’t go off half-cocked and pounce on him or anyone. We all have the right to our say in this issue and any other issue.

          • libertytrain

            As we talk about “bob wire” behind his back openly in print – I will say I think he’s got one heck of a good imagination and this site gives him a little creative outlet. And that part I like him for.

          • Jana

            libertytrain and Claire,
            I’m glad you all can see some good in him. Right now I have had the displeasure of him (on another thread) trying to be my uhhh Spiritual Adviser. He is a very mixed up individual in some areas.
            He doesn’t comprehend facts when they are presented to him. Actually just like any liberal, he ignores the truth and facts.
            No I don’t dislike him, but he sure isn’t my favorite person on this board.

          • libertytrain

            Jana – haven’t we all had the primal urge to slap him around a bit now and then? :) He doesn’t always bring out the best in, many of us, nor us in him.

          • http://deleted Claire

            libertytrain–good words, and oh so true.

          • kate8

            While I don’t dislike him, there is really only one reason why he, and all the rest of the liberals here, post on this blog.

            The question is, if it weren’t for those who are here to twist, contort, spin and ridicule, would there be much for us to talk about?

            We’d probably be squabbling with each other. Which, btw, has already been happening.

          • Jana

            Well, at least he is easy to squabble with because he does just like most liberal lefties. When someone writes back with facts he ignores those facts. Just like Clinton, if you lie often enough someone is bound to believe it.
            We can’t allow bullies and liars to go unchallenged. Their tactic is to wear us down. We have set back quietly too long and we see that doesn’t work. We have to stand for what is right, and what is true, or the whole country will suffer for it. We are already in trouble as a country, but it can be brought back.

          • libertytrain

            Kate8 – you’re correct :) and on the sadder side it is happening too much amongst ourselves.

    • bob wire

      well if you might explain these “Freedom Robbing ” policies maybe I could be on your side of the argument. ~ consider that your challenge ~ rather then attempting to debase and offend me.

      Of the two, I suspect the latter much easier for you to do.

      The only problem is, I’m not debased, I not offended and I’m not angry.

      I’m waiting for the information I need to make a decision, solid information, not rumor, not speculation. ~ You know of any?

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

        BW__ GOOGLE up your questions and look for your own answers, it’s what the rest of us do, why should we hand you the answers. Besides You don’t agree with mostly anything Conservatives post, so whats the point?__Just To argue for the sake of argument?__I’m on here to share with other Conservatives who have the same values, if I wanted a progressive opinion, I’d join Code Pink or go on the Huff ‘n’ Puff!

        • Karolyn

          Angel – If you ever really read what bob has to say, you will see tht he is not a progressive. I believe what he is getting at is the same as what I contend – that most of what I read here is pure conjecture, with no solid basis in fact. It is mostly opinions based on what the talking heads say. Much of what you would call “answers” is just more opinion and conjecture.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

            Karolyn, It doesn’t matter what answer you progressives/liberals or whatever your calling yourselves these days, are given, from whoever, the answers are never completely right in your eyes. Your only on this site, to find out what Conservatives believe and use it against them, thats all. We Know, We’re not idiots karolyn__besides, There is days I’ll play with your Liberal mindset, and there are days such as this one its just a waste of time, and doesn’t get anywhere__have a good one!

          • Karolyn

            You are somewhat wrong Angel. I have agreed with things posted by conservatives here, as has bob, because I read and think about what is written. However, it appears that most of the people here do not really read what someone with the opposite viewpoint has to say, which could possibly lead to a better understanding.

            For instance, right now I’m listening to a Republican scientist on NPR (Oh no!) defending global warming and talking about how his fellow conservatives are disbelieving it because it’s popular among conservatives to not believe that we are contributing to global warming. It is not a political issue but a scientific issue, and the conservatives have made it a political issue. Many have posted here claiming that most scientists have come out and said that there is no man-made global warming. Why are other viewpoints not taken into consideration by you and your fellow conservatives? I think it is a legitimate question, but it never gets answered. All we free thinkers are told is that we’re ignorant and worse.

            I started coming to this site because of the health-related blogs and got sucked in because I had never really paid much attention to your “side” of the story. I have gotten much more education through this discourse and have changed my views on some things. However, I have gotten addicted to it because some things I hear here amuse and amaze me so much, and I am compelled to respond.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            A little suggestion for you. Learn the difference between a republican and a RINO!!!! Look it up!!!

        • john

          Angela, hint, BW wouldn’t consider the American people being forced to buy our own health insurance, a freedom-robbing policy. And we all know that gun control is on his agenda, I have a job and I’m working right now or I’d be glad to provide citations and a laundry list of freedom-robbing policies that this administration supports, cut-off switch to the Internet, the Fairness Doctrine……do your own research………….or better yet get a job.

          • bob wire

            Well John at the moment I’m a little busy running a business in the private sector, providing jobs, putting food on the table for several family’s and paying taxes , an been doing so since 78′. ~

            But thanks, I’ll keep that “job thing” suggest in mind when things slows down enough and I’ve the time.

            As far as having to pay for health care,~ so does that mean you expect it to be free? ~ In the past and presently my Federal Tax dollars has been subsidizing and defray the true cost of yours and others health care cost, doesn’t really “do it” for me. Especially in consideration insurance providers have refused me coverage for reasons all their own.

            Why don’t you pay for your own? 100% not some of it but the full cost!

            Much like us smaller independents are left to do.

            That your answer to everything seem to be; “GET a JOB” tells me that you are little more then a “Kept Orangutan” ~ This mindset is killing us today! People are expecting someone to give them a job! They act helpless! ” I want a job!”

            Mister, it for people to go out and “create themselves a job” , don’t wait on government, don’t wait on the Lord, don’t wait for someone to show you pity or some rich man to show his benevolence. Get out there and find a NEED and fill it!

            Now what else was you gripping about?; ~ Oh! guns!

            If you hadn’t got yours yet, well do so! Get as many as you want to have! and bullets! get them too! ~ don’t forget those bullets ~ guns work better with bullets!

            But guns are much like that “sex offender” cousin, you might well have one, but let’s not go there, Okay? let’s keep that to ourselves, what you say?

            You can fill the back of a 1/2 ton pickup with guns on the common market today, in just one weekend and be selective! You are only limited by the cash in your pocket!

            So I believe most of your complaints are pure horse manure.

            Offer me something that I can defend you on!

          • http://?? Joe H.

            bob wire,
            I got some news for you! I don’t pay for my insurance, my wife and her employer do. You don’t pay a damn thing on me!!I’ve worked since I was 14 and have never been on welfare nor food stamps! I collected unemployment twice, once for four weeks and once for two weeks! I served in RVN the same as you did for eighteen months and have scars to prove it! So don’t bother giving me your high and mighty sob story troop as it just don’t matter!!!

      You are too right. I don’t understand why these progressives feel compelled to spread their denial and ignorance of facts. I suppose, since this is a subscriber’s newsletter, we are compelled to acknowledged them, but it becomes easier, and easier to ignore them completely. I truly wish they’d either wise up or leave us alone.

        I suppose a lot depends on your “Labeling system”

        Some people enjoy “YES MEN”, Boot Licker’s and Brown Nose’ers”

    Soros Socialists and Onumnutds are 2 example prime examples, of they should have knock in the head abd the milk feed to the hogs. Then the citizens could all have a BLT. Since the pedophile goat abusing muslim is heading this country and more pervs showing up everyday, better start producing more hogs to keep the pervs at bay. Onumnutts has shipped in so many of these perverts, that these smucks are now brave enough to start killing their females. So just wait until next year, when the marxist muslim moron gets desprate to impose martial law on non muslims, when the Shia perv ilk start raising hell want understanding of their ideology. Karolyn and bob wire a just 2 socialist democrats that try the liberial understanding routine and open minded crap. Facts to them is what ever has a marxist communist slant to it. Government control over every thing is a must, airy fairy theories are the hard facts, and Karolyu stated several months ago she was not a Christian. Karolyn, facts the green envior crap electric cars are s–t, don’t work when it gets cold, no matter what battery that is used. Global warming was just plain b–l s–t by junk sciencists. USA could be out of debt, if Onumnutts and the EPA wouldn’t have stopped the pipeline installation. With our crude coming from Baker MT going to the golf, was allowed to be buried. A 36″ pipe working with gravity, no pumps, can deliver over 10 million barrels a day, times 30 days is 27 billion a month., times 12 months is $324 billion a year at $90 a barrel on the open market. Now crude is over $100 a barrel on the open market we could be out from under China damn quick. You know the new job czar pick by Onumnutts, as a GE CEO who took 138 billion of stimulas taxpayer money to China to create jobs in China, making windmill generator motors. Why your sorry azzed Congresspersons all soros socialists didn’t object, when unemployment was on a rocket sled. Just to start putting in the pipeline 8500 heavy equipment operators were needed with wages of $25-$32 an hour, for every operator it takes 5 more support people, not counting all the welders, truck drivers,dinner staffs, motel and hotyle staffs just mention a few people needed, close to 100,000, now that is an employment number we need to see. Since USA is now the highest corpoate tax country. We are heading down the path of Germany and Yugoslovia in the early 90s, now greece, Japan just lowered their corporate rate by 15%. Why do you think Russia, Saudia Araba, Japan, Germany, China nd other nations held a secret meeting in April to do away with using the Dollar as a base? Soros Socialist and Onumnutts spending spree.

    I no longer listen to POTUS’ speeches. The feeling of being considered such a simpleton who cannot see through the balderdash is not good for my health. I can get all of what he says from reading others’ comments about his speech. If Sam Donaldson or Chris Mathews gush about his “knocking it out of the park”, I know I missed nothing of real import. When I heard POTUS wants to build a hi-speed rail system, I was struck by the similarity to the self-absorbed unfaithful husband, whose business is failing, and whose payments are way behind on the house, credit card balances are maxed out, with payments behind, and he tells his wife how he needs to buy a new MBz 55 SL AMG. How absolutely irresponsible and out of touch.
    But, what really saddens me is that so many do not see the truly dark side of all this as our country is being lead down the path to slavery and destruction.

    • bob wire

      Hmm? I suppose many thought the same thing of President Grant as he knocked the chocks free. letting the wheels roll, encouraged railroad tycoons to make as much money as possible could while they link the east and west coast by rail as the nation struggle to recover from a civil war that pitted American against America and left people hungry, poor and morning the dead and their losses.

      Do you want leadership with vision or Politicians that bow to pressures of feeling they might be seen as unpopular?

      You don’t ever tell people what the can not do or can no have. You tell they if they want it, ~ this is what must be done! This is what must be satisfied for this to happen.

      Do you think that these railroad men and oil men took “NO” for an answer? Do you think they let a 100 acre farm get in their way? Well the Rocky’s only slowed them down, so I seriously doubt it.

      Defeated talk, is defeating.

    • http://deleted Claire

      I am to the point I do not want to listen to any of the politicians’ speeches. My dogs have more common sense.

    I have never seen so much bull shit and hog wash out right lies in my 75 years.All these no good community organizing communist s.o.b.s such as bob & bob wire spewing their bull shit about bush this bush that need to take their marbles and go play in the middle of the free way all the like minded s.o.b.sneed to follow them like the sheep that you are. All you entitlement minded s.o.b.s need to go to work & put your hand in your own pocket &play with with your self & quit having sex with young children that don’t know better.Just because some one has worked and saved some money doesen’t mean you should det any of it. When you take what some one has worked for forcefuly that is stealing and should be treated as such. That is why we have these bunch of thiving,lying no good s.o.b.s in our government because these are the type of people that are electing them.They are like fleas on a dog’s back it takes a lot of attention to get them off and keep them off.This is corruption from local county gov. to the white house. I think it is going to take the general population to forceably amend the problem because the crooks are too deeply imbeded.The communists have gradualy taken over our schools taght our children their theology and disrupted our country all because the people have sat on their ass with their nose in a tv set and let it happen. That is why they are trying to stop all home schooling all over the world. Its the take over of the new world order.Only the people can stop it if they can just wake their ass up and get involved and i don’t mean next week next month year i mean now.If we don’t we are going to be not free but slaves to these s.o.b.s .

    • Karolyn

      I have heard nothing of “them” trying to stop home schooling. Do you have anything to support that allegation? I have heard that more and more people are doing it.

      • kate8

        Karolyn – You really must not pay much attention to what’s going on in America.

        The government has been going after homeschoolers for years, and are getting more aggressive. There have even been people who went to court and had the judge order them into public school or be taken from their homes.

        More and more people are homeschooling because they don’t like what public schools are indoctrinating into their kids, not to mention the serious lack of academics. These days schools are mostly about social engineering, and are deliberately undereducating.

        Anyway, government is seeking to end homeschooling altogether, just has some countries in Europe have. The State wants control of the kids.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          you forgot to mention that homeschooled kids do better than public on the standardized tests, as well!!

          • kate8

            Joe H. – Not only are they smarter, but far more well-adjusted, too.

            That’s why BigBro doesn’t like them.

      • Allan Halbert

        The homeschooling phenomenon is a threat to teachers unions, as are charter schools and voucher systems. It seems that the pro-choice folks are very selective with the meaning of choice. They’re also pro-minority and pro-women, until those women and minorities have conservative opinions. Oh well, waste of time saying so. It is what it is.

        • kate8

          Until recent times, everyone was homeschooled. That’s how people were educated.

          Government established schools for uniform indoctrination.

  • Connie Mead

    If we could figure out how to sweep that well known commodity off the floor after his speeches, we could pay off our debts with the billions we would make in the fertilizer business!!! We need to take back our country.

  • Dee

    I was prepared to listen to obama’s SOTU speech. I wanted to listen to what else he wanted to do to the U.S. It was soooooooooo good
    that I fell asleep.

    • eddie47d

      Connie;Is that like the fertilizer that Chip spread around today. You seemed to have bought into that line hook and sinker. I love his “let’s be fair” when he apparently doesn’t know what the word means. He slammed defunding NASA,well how many times do we have to go to the moon to know it’s there? Conservatives say there is a deficit yet when cuts are made they complain even louder. He said companies like McDonald’s,Starbucks and Coca Cola don’t bring their profits home.Most of those profits either stay in the country they are in or are re-invested in further growth. Even “dummy” Progressives understand that but apparently Mr Woods doesn’t. We already have a Starbucks on every other block and a McDonald’s within 5 miles of each other. I think many parts of the nation are over saturated so why would these companies build more of them. So Obama is not bringing the “Corporate ax” down on these companies. They are only expanding their markets in other parts of the world. Some of you refuse to debate the lack of facts that Chip and Ben bring to the table and accept it all.

      • Lewis Munn

        One very minor point, Eddie.

        I do not think NASA goes to the Moon, or a comet, or Mars, just to determine if it is still there. Then, too, I am not sure you have verified that Mars, or the comets, are there. Are you not afraid they are gone and our whole system of science overthrown?

        We go to find knowledge that may well be useful in the future. We might need to live on the moon, or Mars, if we allow those who monger wars, or attack our country’s systems to enslave us, to just go ahead. Be nice if we are overwhelmed by liberals to have a place to go for a respite from their policies.

        When people like you pooh-pooh free exploration, you are like the clerics in the Dark Ages, or the clerics in Islaamic countries, demanding we worship meteors and make everybody eat only certain foods and fast, resulting in problems of hungry, tired workers doing poor jobs, part of the year.

        You do not know of what you speak so often; having Muslim friends, and visited them, I have seen enough to know a lot more, it appears, than you do of the practical effects of Islaam.

        I suggest you read the Qur’an a couple times through and see how it conflicts with freedom in every respect! Of course, only if you value truth, and personal freedom.

        You might also wish to note that their societies move to a few very very rich, and powerful, and lots of poor people, mostly poorly educated. And thoroughly indoctrinated in what to think. No liberal thinking allowed!!

  • Charles

    Obama and the Prim Minster of Canada were on TV giving their take
    on whats going on in Egypt.Once again, he was using his most famous
    word,transform. He said Egypt is tramforming to a democracy,just like
    he said he is going to transform America.The only difference he would
    like to transform us to be more like Egypt is now.

  • Kevin

    MY biggest problem is that there is no difference between the policies of the Democrat and Republican Parties, and it’s a toss up between who lies more. America was sold out a long time ago to the internationalists. Government owns the schools. It’s just a matter of time before today’s history is twisted in such a way that our children will believe what they have is freedom, as they are trying to tell their children about the freedom they are losing and so on and so on… We’re only a few generations away from not having any freedom left to tell our children to defend.

    • http://deleted Claire

      Kevin– Agreed.

    I missed a good documentary on 60 minutes on CBS narrated by Steve Kroft. I just received an email with the synopsis of the book title, (The Shadow Party)by Richard Poe and David Horowitz. A George Soros biography. This is how it is titled: It talks about the evils of George Soras.

    A George Soro’s biography. Pick up a copy of “The Shadow Party” by Richard Poe and David Horowitz It shows the association with Soros, the Clintons and the 60′s radicals that have taken over the Democratic Party. It is all documented and you can research it yourself. Frightening!
    Tom Steele Director “We the People of PV”

    Hee is snippet of the story:

    Interesting read on George Soros

    If you have wondered where Obama came from and just how he quickly moved from obscurity to President, or why the media is “selective” in what we are told, here is the man who most probably put him there and is responsible. He controls President Obama’s every move. Think this is absurd? Invest a few minutes and read this. You won’t regret it.

    Who is Obama? Obama is a puppet and here is the explanation of the man or demon that pulls his strings. It’s not by chance that Obama can manipulate the world. I don’t think he knows how to tie his shoe laces. After reading this and Obama’s reluctance to accept help on the oil spill you wonder if the spill is part of the plan to destroy the US ? “In history, nothing happens by accident. If it happened, you can bet someone planned it.”/ Franklin Delano Roosevelt

    Who Is George Soros? He brought the market down in 2 days. Here is what CBS’ Mr. Steve Kroft’s research has turned up. It’s a bit of a read, and it took 4 months to put it together. “The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States . “George Soros”

    George Soros is an evil man. He’s anti-God, anti-family, anti-American, and anti-good.” He killed and robbed his own Jewish people. What we have in Soros, is a multi-billionaire atheist, with skewed moral values, and a sociopath’s lack of conscience. He considers himself to be an elitist World class philosopher, despises the American way, and just loves to do social engineering and change cultures.

    György Schwartz, better known to the world as George Soros, was born August 12, 1930 in Hungary . Soros’ father, Tivadar, was a fervent practitioner of the Esperanto language invented in 1887, and designed to be the first global language, free of any national identity. The Schwartz’s, who were non-practicing Jews, changed the family name to Soros, in order to facilitate assimilation into the Gentile population, as the Nazis spread into Hungary during the 1930s

    When Hitler’s henchman Adolf Eichmann arrived in Hungary , to oversee the murder of that country’s Jews, George Soros ended up with a man whose job was confiscating property from the Jewish population. Soros went with him on his rounds.

    Soros has repeatedly called 1944 “the best year of his life.” 70% of Mr. Soros’s fellow Jews in Hungary, nearly a half-million human beings, were annihilated in that year, yet he gives no sign that this put any damper on his elation, either at the time or indeed in retrospect” During an interview with “Sixty Minute’s” Steve Kroft, Soros was asked about his “best year.”

    KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson. SOROS: Yes. Yes.

    KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from your fellow Jews, friends and neighbors. SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.

    KROFT: I mean, that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many, years. Was it difficult?

    SOROS: No, not at all. Not at all, I rather enjoyed it.

    KROFT: No feelings of guilt?

    SOROS: No, only feelings of absolute power.

    To destroy a great civilization destroy the principles that made it great The civil rights act of 1965 did just that The founding principle in the Delaration of Independence that all men are created equal was obliterated to mean ALL MEN ARE THE SAME thus destroying the RIGHTS OF THE MAJORITY In so doing A GOVERNMENT FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE,OF THE PEOPLE cannot exist THE REST IS HISTORY PERIOD

    • Karolyn

      What are you, nuts? Of course all men AND women are created equal, and we sure didn’t need the Declaration to tell us that. Unfortunately, many STILL don’t believe it. What’s the difference between equal and the same? I don’t get it.

      • kate8

        Karolyn – To be equal means to be of equal value, or worth. Human life has intrinsic value.

        To be the same means to do away with individuality. It has no bearing on whether a person has value. It could mean that no one has value.

        • kate8

          Oh. And it also means that no one is allowed to excel, or to reach their full potential. Mostly it reduces everyone to the lowest common denominator.

        • Karolyn

          Of course, you’re right, Kate. My thinker wasn’t thinking to clearly! :-)

      • Lewis Munn

        2+2 = 3+1. But the individual sides of the equation are NOT the same. This is part of the fallacy of the liberals. 3 is NOT equal to two, as much as the liberals might like it to be. And “4″ is a different entity than 3 or 2 or 1, Much as you may not want to accept the differences.

        Conservatives do not demand that 3 and 2 and 1 are the same identical thing But given the equal opportunity, they can work together to make 4, in several ways.

        Karolyn, do you remember the equality of the Procrustian Bed? Very liberal. But also very deadly!!

    • bob wire

      Hmm? well WaynneT; It’s one thing to disagree with what I might say and something else entirely to not understand what I might say.

      I admit,~ sometimes, I inject statements and phrases that fail to stand alone, offered little support and are only germane and relevant inside the context of the thread.

      If you are not following the thread context closely you will be lost.

      I admit to posting errors and missing the location of the post on occasions, oops! is all I’m left to say.

      I’d admit to being dyslexic and (at times) “see” and write backwards or spell backwards. Words like “like and kind” are seen as the same to me! ( I can’t offer an explanation for this, ~”gift”) I “must” work harder then you do to get anything written. So yes! indulge me as I indulge you, or feel free to screw off.

      ~~~ I’m a simple man, not complicated, while I have devoted time and studies to English composition and “persuasive” writing. I know my many many flaws, transgressions and when I am take “liberties” with structure and form. I admit that I am a C minus student at best and still only a student after 27 years.
      Why not accept the fact that you don’t have a grasp of the material or possess the skills to offer a solid rebuttal and find it much easier to just attack the messenger due to your mental laziness?
      As you might have noticed, I don’t allow myself to be “overly distracted with “name calling” and find it humorous.
      If some 75 year old Arkansas “Ridge Runner” wants to call me a Commie and sing George W. Bush praises tells everyone here but one thing.
      In his 75 years, he has learned to live by his natural instincts, making sweeping assessments without privilege of the facts. It’s my guess this country is full of such people and accounts for our present day situation as he doesn’t know either of us.
      “W” was, and is, a spoiled wealthy man son first and foremost, all the rest being purely incidental while representing a gross failure in today’s election process and the selection of worthy party candidates.
    From what I saw of the speech, you are right on the, ah shall we say, money. I think Der Fuhrer might need another tax payer funded 200 million dollare vacation. After all, it has been about six weeks.
    By the way, you DO NOT begin a sentence with the work BUT. Did you sleep thru grammer?
    • Carlucci
      It is spelled “grammar”.
    • http://deleted Claire
      Old Henry– I am an editor, I have been for 25 years. I have noticed that a lot of authors’ manuscripts that I edit begin their sentences with the word “But” or “And.” These authors are highly educated professionals and a number of them cannot spell their way out of a paper bag. A lot of the References/Bibliographies contain no periods. I see this in medical/police journals. Times have changed, however, the company I work for follows the APA manual, Rogets’ Thesaurus. I read the posts on this site for the comments people give, their opinions, I do not pay attention to grammar unless it is so bad it cannot be deciphered. BTW, I also make typos on this site, but NOT when I am at work. I am relaxed here.
      • http://deleted Claire
        I wish to add— I have also used the words “but/and” when beginning a sentence–on this site only.
      • Karolyn
        Claire – In my English 101 class last semester, we were told we could start a sentence with but or and; however, it has to be used appropriately.
        • http://deleted Claire
          Karolyn—I know, things have changed. I can remember it was totally incorrect to start sentences with “and” or “but.”
          • http://deleted Claire
            Karolyn–BTW at work we use our “house style” which is the older way of editing. More proper? More prudish? LOL I had to throw prudish in there!
          • libertytrain
            Claire – this language thing is going to get much worse. No ands or buts about it – “aint” that right? Thank God for good publishers. When they are gone, the language is over.
          • http://deleted Claire
            libertytrain–Ain’t that the truth! lol All kidding aside, I do work for a good publisher, and I do prefer their “house style.” Especially the front matter of a book, that is very important. We always request a Preface, and a lot of authors do not send one with their manuscript, some of them are more interested in the Dedication/Acknowledgments.
            Just wait until my book is published!! Hopefully.
          • kate8
            Claire – Times have really changed with grammar. Writing has become much more casual, as has speaking. Rules are relaxed. I sometimes use But or And to begin a sentence for effect, something that I never would have in the past.
            The same with ending a sentence with a preposition. To say “that of which I’m speaking” sounds so stuffy anymore, that I find myself ending with the prep just so I don’t sound so stiff. It makes me cringe, though.
            One of my biggest pet peeves is the word “myriad”. Too may writers say “a myriad of”, which is redundant. Myriad means “many”, so one would say “there are myriad claims”.
            Language has become so mangled these days. Phonics is a disaster, as the root meanings of words are lost, as is the beauty of the language. It has become geared toward a lazy and unsophisticated populace, as well as a second language in our own country.
            Our younger generation has become somewhat crude and illiterate. It reflects the general devaluation of humanity.
          • http://deleted Claire
            Kate8– I am glad you responded to my post. I will tell you what truly bothers me. I read the educational journals that I receive at work (I advertise our books in them) that the worldwide ranking of American youth in science, mathematics, history etc. is/has really dropped. China and Japan are way ahead of us, as well as other nations. In one journal we were neck and neck with Bulgaria. They also gave a figure on the percentage of kids that drop out and it was horrendous. In this one journal they did a survey and guess what the students’ main complaint was—they were bored. They take their cell phones into the classroom, text, etc., and when teachers tell them to put their phones away, the parents complain. The parents say their kids need to keep their phones turned on in case of emergency. This makes me think about the generations that did not have cell phones. I could go on and on. I will not read these journal articles again, I don’t want to know, it makes me heartsick. I do not think there will ever be a solution to the destruction of our educational system. You are right, crude and illiterate has become the norm in many instances.
          • libertytrain
            Claire – I think writing a book is the only thing I’ve wanted to accomplish that I haven’t done (yet). That being said, I never have given any thought to whom I would dedicate it to. How funny that you say that is important to authors. Maybe that’s why I haven’t done it yet. I have no idea of whom to dedicate it. Darn.
          • libertytrain
            Claire – unfortunately “an emergency” is now something as trite as saying “I may be late for dinner.” Cellphones in school in general was a foolish mistake. And for that matter, to me, they are mostly unnecessary most of the time – i.e. movie theaters, groceries, stores, cars while driving, etc.
          • Karolyn
            They’re not teaching cursive anymore. How will people sign contracts? I guess they will have to print their names.
          • libertytrain
            Karolyn, with any luck they will know how to write an “X” – can you see the contracts of the future -
          • kate8
            Why even bother with contracts at all. It seems that people sign them with little consideration of their implications.
            It seems they only exist to be broken these days.
          • http://?? Joe H.
            when you do write your book, let us know as I promise to buy it!!!
          • http://deleted Claire
            JoeH–Actually I am working on 2 books. You guessed it–one is about dogs, my precious Katie, the matriarch/grand/great matriarch of the dogs that I have now. I have numerous contacts with publishers, but they only publish books in technical categories. So, I have to seek a publisher, which may prove to be difficult–I hope I don’t have to hire an agent.
          • bob wire
            “Times has really changed with grammar. Writing has become much more casual, as has speaking. Rules are relaxed. I sometimes use But or And to begin a sentence for effect, something that I never would have in the past.”
            So true Kate! We are left to embrace it or protest it.
            I believe that a little of both is a “good thing” We should not completely permit sub-cultures to diminish our language but offer resistance to it.
            The English language is a very rich language. While Latin is perhaps the most exacting, English is a close second if used well.
            That doctors and science use so much Latin should come as little surprise. That their studies regardless of the country they might live in and the language they might speak, Latin helps us spans this language barrier and offers some core communication among the worlds professionals and higher learned.
            I love the word, ~ it is the paint applied to canvas, allowing you offer pictures and concepts.
    GO PACKERS!!!!!
  • Void1972
    Who wrote this pome?
    Many, many years ago,
    When animals could speak.
    A wondrous thing the ducks befell,
    Their tale is quite unique.
    Down by a pond dwelt all these ducks,
    Ten thousand at the least.
    Their duckish joys were undisturbed
    By any man or any beast.
    One day down near the entrance gate,
    There was an awful din.
    A hundred hens all out of breath
    Were begging to come in.
    “Oh let us in!” these poor birds cried,
    “Before we do expire!”
    “Tis only by the merest inch
    That we escaped the fire!”
    Their feathers burned, their combs a droop,
    They were the saddest sight.
    They’d run a hundred miles or more,
    All day and then all night.
    “Come, come in!” the ducks all quacked,
    “For you our hearts do bleed!
    We’ll share our happy lot with you,
    Just tell us what you need!”
    And so these poor bedraggled hens
    Amongst the ducks moved in.
    For, after all, the ducks declared,
    “We’re sisters ‘neath the skin.”
    Before too many months had passed,
    The hens were good as new.
    They sent for all their rooster friends,
    And these were welcomed too.
    To please their host, these chickens tried
    To waddle and to quack.
    To simulate the duckish ways
    They quickly learned the knack.
    This pleased the flock of ducks because
    It gratified their pride.
    ….But hear my tale and learn how they
    Got taken for a ride.
    The ducks, it seemed, spent all their time
    In fixing up their place,
    In growing food and building homes
    And cleaning every space.
    They asked the hens what they would do
    To earn their daily bread.
    “We’ll teach and write and entertain,
    And buy and sell,” they said.
    And so these hens began to teach
    The baby ducks and chicks.
    They traded food and eggs and things,
    With many clever tricks.
    They wrote great books & put on shows,
    Of genius they’d no lack.
    It wasn’t long till chickens owned
    The Duckville Daily Quack.
    One day a mother duck who took
    Her ducklings to the lake,
    Was flabbergasted when one said,
    “A swim I will not take!”
    “Why ducklings always swim!” she gasped,
    “It’s what you’re built to do!
    Like bunnies hop, and crickets chirp,
    And cows most always moo!”
    “Your just old fashioned, a fuddy duck,
    That stuff is all old hat!”
    “It’s wrong for birds to swim; …besides,
    It’s too cold on my little pratt!”
    “Oh fie!” the mother duck exclaimed,
    “You’re talking like a fool!”
    Up quacked the other ducks and said,
    “He’s right! Ms. Hen taught us that in school!”
    “Such things must stop!” the mother cried,
    “Those hens can’t teach such lies!”
    “For sheer ingratitude and nerve,
    I’m sure this takes the prize!”
    ….But she was wrong, for even then
    The hens did thump the tub.
    Demanding they be let into,
    The Duckville Swimming Club.
    “But you don’t swim!” the ducks all cried,
    To join, why should you care?”
    “That’s not the point!” the hens replied,
    “To exclude us isn’t fair!”
    The younger ducks, who’d been to school,
    Agreed right there and then,
    “To keep them out is bigotry!”
    “T’would just be ANTI-HEN…!”
    Outnumbered by the younger ducks,
    The old ducks soon did loose;
    They agreed to let the hens all in,
    If they would pay the dues.
    That night the Duckville Daily Quack
    Contained this banner spread:
    “Reactionary Ducks Are Licked!
    Down at the Duckville Gaiety,
    The younger set laughed with glee,
    At cracks about “Old Fuddy’ Ducks”
    In burlesque repartee.
    Next day the hens were at the club,
    A petition they’d sent around.
    They objected to the swimming fund
    With fury and with sound.
    “You use our dues to fix the pond,
    to keep it neat and trim.”
    “And this is wrong,” they said, “Because
    You know we do not swim!”
    “God help us!” cried a wise old duck,
    “These chickens have gone mad!”
    “We’ll take this to the court, by George,
    And justice will be had!”
    But when they went up to the judge,
    Imagine their dismay!
    A CHICKEN-JUDGE decreed that they
    Had a heavy fine to pay!
    “Minorities must have their rights!”
    The judge declared right then.
    “To use hen’s dues to fix the pond
    Is very ANTI-HEN…!”
    Once more the Duckville Daily Quack
    Emblazoned across the page:
    “Old Foggy Ducks Refuse to See
    The Great New Coming Age!”
    In Duckville church on Sunday morn,
    The preacher spoke these words,
    “Discrimination’s got to stop!
    Remember we’re all birds!”
    The wisest duck in all the town
    Sat down in black despair.
    “I’ll write a book,” he thought, and then
    “This madness I will bare!”
    “Let Swimmers Swim, let Hoppers Hop,
    Let Each One Go His Way.
    Let No One Coerce a Fellow Bird!”
    Was what he had to say.
    “Twas wrong to force the hens to swim
    So here’s the problem’s crux;
    It’s just as bad for hens to try
    To chicken-ize our ducks!”
    “I can’t print that,” the printer said,
    “Twill put me in a mess!”
    “My shop is mortgaged to the hens,
    The chickens own my press!”
    This worried duck then tried to warn
    His friends by speech and pen.
    Young ducks fresh from school just jeered
    “He’s one of those a vicious Anti-Hens…!”
    Now up the stream a little way
    Was Gooseville, on the lake.
    The hens had come to Gooseville too,
    But the Geese were more awake.
    When the hens began to spoil the young
    And Gooseville’s laws to flout,
    The Geese Rose Up in Righteous Wrath
    And Simply Threw Them Out…!!!
    Of course, you know where they all ran;
    On Duckville they converged.
    “We’ve got to take these refugees.”
    Was all Duckville’s hens had urged.
    The Duckville Daily Quack declared:
    “These Geese Will Stop at Naught!
    “They Plan to Conquer all the World!”
    “Atrocities They’ve Wrought!”
    “That’s right!” the young ducks agreed,
    “We’ll help our fellow birds!
    These Geese have plans to conquer us!
    ….We’ve read the Quack’s own words!”
    They let the hens from Gooseville in,
    The whole bedraggled pack.
    …. And every hen took up a job
    on the Duckville Daily Quack!!
    When the Duckville mayor’s term was up,
    The Quack put up it’s Duck;
    A vain and stupid duck was he,
    A veritable … cluck!
    But when he praised the wild young ducks,
    And cursed the evil Geese,
    The Quack declared he was “all wise,”
    His praise would never cease.
    The hens chipped in to help this cluck
    Give grain away for free.
    The old ducks sadly shook their heads,
    The writing they could see.
    And sure enough, this stupid duck,
    He was elected mayor.
    From this point on, The Duckville ducks,
    They never had a prayer.
    The Mayor said, “Gooseville must GO!”
    “We’ll wipe them off the map!”
    While Duckville slept, the scheming hens
    For Gooseville set the trap.
    They called the Geese by filthy names;
    They filled their pond with sticks.
    They helped the weasels catch the Geese,
    and other hennish tricks.
    The Geese got mad and threw the sticks,
    “It’s WAR!” the Quack announced.
    “We ducks must Fight those evil Geese,”
    “Till they’ve been soundly trounced!”
    The ducks (who knew not of the tricks
    Indulged in by the mayor),
    Were filled with patriotic zeal,
    And pitched right in for fair!
    So when the ducks whipped the Geese,
    The Mayor called “Retreat!!”
    “Our HENVILLE friends should really take
    Gooseville’s big main street!”
    The hens were back in Gooseville now;
    They starved and beat the Geese.
    They prayed for “Peace” — but organized
    They drained the Geese’s swimming pond,
    They “De-Goose-ified” their schools;
    They wrung the Gooseville mayor’s neck
    On lately made-up rules.
    They formed a council of the hens;
    “UNITED BIRDS” the name.
    The other birds who joined the thing
    Did not perceive the game.
    No sooner had they set this up,
    Than they announced their hennish plan:
    To seize up Swanville as a home
    For all their hennish clan.
    They took a vote among the hens,
    And everyone approved!
    “Swanville was for HENS!” they said,
    “Way back, before we moved,”
    And so they kicked the swans all out,
    With Duckville’s help and power
    And Duckville couldn’t understand
    Why swans, on them turned sour.
    By this time, Duckville was a mess,
    The young ducks had all gone mad.
    They stole and laughed at Truth and Law;
    They went completely “bad.”
    The hens were selling Loco Weed
    in every nasty den.
    But ducks who dared to mention this,
    Were labeled “ANTI-HEN…!”
    The hens all preached of “Tolerance,”
    They invoked the “Golden Rule,”
    But they subsidized the indigent,
    The greedy and the fool.
    At last the very dumbest ducks
    Began to smell a rat.
    “This mayor is no good!” they cried,
    “And we will soon fix that!”
    But the hens had planned for even this
    A candidate they had,
    Whom even wise old ducks believed
    Just never could be bad.
    This Hen-tool duck whipped the Geese,
    A soldier Duck was he.
    Although the hens had set him up,
    The Ducks all thought him free.
    This Hen-tool got elected,
    Through ignorance and greed,
    Through hennish lies in Press & Speech,
    Through Bribes of “Chicken Feed.”
    The hens now kicked the ducks around
    Without a blush of shame,
    Until the mayor ran the town
    In nothing else but name.
    They pumped the Duck’s pond all dry;
    They taught the ducks to crow,
    While duckish numbers dwindled,
    The hens began to grow.
    The hens stirred up the happy crows
    >From out of the piney wood,
    To Fight to Mix and Marry ducks
    in the name of “Brotherhood.”
    Things got so bad that fifty ducks,
    Who knew the days gone by;
    Took up their wives and children
    And decided that they’d fly.
    They flew through storms and tempest;
    They froze, and many died.
    But on they drove, until, at last,
    A lovely lake they spied.
    They settle down exhausted,
    But soon went straight to work;
    To build and clear and cultivate,
    No danger did they shirk.
    Now after many years of toil,
    This little band had grown.
    The fields around were full of grain
    From seeds that they had sown.
    The first ducks were long since dead;
    Their struggles long had ceased.
    Through hard work and suffering,
    Their joys had been increased.
    One day down near the entrance gate
    There was an awful din;
    A hundred hens, all out of breath,
    Were begging to come in.
    “Oh, let us in!” these poor birds cried,
    “Before we do expire!”
    “Tis only by the merest inch….”
    “… … … …”
    ….This epic really has no end,
    Because No matter how you fight em,
    Those HENS’ll show up every time.
    And so, …Ad Infinitum …!!!
      Once there was, an Ostrich Hen;
      Who thought, se should take rule.
      Her claim to thrown, was her bigest bird size.
      so hatching all eggs, couldn’t be a fool.
      She brought many, eggs to life;
      She was Mom, to all the foul.
      but one day, se had a fright;
      when she hatched, the egg of a Crock.
    Substituting the term “investments” for “spending” isn’t brilliant at all. I’m not all that bright, but I can see through the sleight of hand, and it’s not that difficult. I think they’ve been doing that for years; I should think that most of us can read between the lies by now.
  • Bash Coffer
    I didn’t hear any lies. I heard OBAMA say he needed SUPPORT and COOPERATION across this three PARTY SYSTEM he has had to deal with, and specifically REPUBLICAN OBSTRUCTIONISM.
    But of course, the dark side was left up to where it is; obviously YOUR dwelling place!
    Furthermore I think that if it was so void of any substance, why then did all of the House stand in applaue so many times? Did you count?
    You people really are so of the world’s most notorious HYPOCRITS.
  • Charles
    Old Henry
    You hit it right on the nose. President for life.
    Yeah the SOTU speech was a little dull and boring compared to something like a GW speech.I always waited for GW to say something stupid or really fumble with the words on the teleprompter.Then he would get that quizzical look on his face after making a point and wondering what it was he had just said.Two of the greatest comedians of all time are GW and Red Skelton.However GW wasn’t supposed to be funny.He was missing many a brain cell after being a heavy drug user in his youth.
    • http://?? Joe H.
      Yeah, much like Nobummer and his coke!!!! and I sure as hell don’t mean soda!!
      • kate8
        Joe H. – The libs always go on about W’s drinking and whatever else. Funny how they never mention Obama’s cocaine use. Not only was (is?) he a user, but a dealer, as well.
        And he STILL frequents gay bath houses.
        • bob wire
          LOL! yea and that was sugar donut power on “W’s” nose?
          I don’t know of any “liberals” going on about “W” transgressing unless it’s in some response to “W” walking on water claim.
          Not saying that there wasn’t, just saying I’ve not heard it here.
          Personally, I wouldn’t want a President that hasn’t lived a worldly life and have some experience in the effects of poor choices and decisions.
          I know of no one that started off clever and bright, but I do know of people that have been shielded and protected from their poor judgment and have failed to learn valuable knowledge from it.
    Bash Coffer,
    You are right, Obama didn`t lie before he got elected. He did say,( not against the law ) he was going to transform America and spread
    the wealth. Since then, he has lied,bullied,cheated, and has tryed to bring America to it`s knee`s through a varity of ways.People like you,
    is on the table. When are you people going to learn?
    For those of you that think that George W. Bush was such a great Christian President. You need to watch 9-11 Loose Change on youtube. This Documentary has been the reason that my view of 9-11 changed. I use to think the middle eastern people were behind it. But after you see the documents and accounts from the first responders on that day. Of things seen and heard. You too, will look. And question why this ever happened. And, for what reason. you will see and hear things that you have never seen or heard before. American’s are waking up. At a very fast rate. Then if you want another real eye opener. Watch “OBAMA DECEPTION” full length, on youtube. Has anyone noticed that Gov. Jesse Ventura,s show conspiracy Theory show has been removed? It was the numero uno show on their line up of shows. Yet most American’s have not put 2 and 2 together. YET! You will see why in these two documentary’s. I guarantee it.
      And then follow the next step. Obama talks about ‘high speed trains’. Connect that dot with UN Agenda 21 that calls for the US population to be moved to high density cities. Then note that implementation of UN Agenda 21 can be found in the ‘Food Safety Act’ that was just passed. Do watch “Agenda 21 for Dummies” on you tube and “Agenda 21 vehicle ownership and private”.     Have you observed that the UN is pushing, along with Obama, to take the training of our children from the parents and giving it all to UN-trained people, who will then be free to indoctrinate the children in UN-ism??
    Somehow most groups have missed this, even the Liberals think it is a fine idea, without knowing just what it means. UN-trained robots, forsaking home, country, friends and parents
    Do we want a world of UN-indoctrinated robot people, nations, and all future children becomming UN robots. Makes Orwell look tame, eh?
      The Tea Party offers no electable candidate and the GOP can’t seem to bring forward any new blood that everyone can agree one.
      I’m thinking that your hopes have exceeded vision.
      Hope springs eternal! I hope too, but let’s face it ~ it not looking too good at the moment.
      The GOP is playing an all “offensive” game and has been doing so for years!
      Thinking if they throw enough “stuff”, something will stick! This approach has kept them in the game but with little yardage.
      When will they ever learn that this is not really working very well and the “message” needs to be more a catchy 3 and 5 word slogan.
      George Wallace was known to say, “Keep the message down to where the goats can eat it” But think today, most of American’s has grown beyond 1960 Alabama,~ not all perhaps ~ but most.
      “True American!” my backside ~ now we have untrue American’s do we?
      We all pay taxes, and fight our wars, but some are seen a being untrue because they might not agree with you?
      Bad wording buddy and this will be just another downfall in the honorable attempt to affect meaningful change.
    Every Red Blooded American should jump in line to support the Green Bay Packers!
    The Packers defeated the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon thus earning them the opportunity to go to the Super Bowl.
    By doing so, they saved the Hard-Working, Red Blooded, Taxpaying Americans literally several million dollars of tax money.
    How you say? Simple… we were told that if the Chicago Bears had won that President Obama (and probably his family) would be attending the Super Bowl to cheer on his hometown team.
    Since the Bears lost…the President won’t be attending.
    The money saved from not using Air Force 1, the limosines, all the additional security, and let’s not forget Michelle Obama’s entourage, is literally several million dollars!
    Therefore every American should cheer on the Green Bay Packers at the Super Bowl to show them our gratitude.
    Oh…and let’s not forget to thank Chicago Bear’s Quarterback Jay Cutler for his role in the Packer’s success!
  • chuckb
    so the tea party offers no electable candidate!
    we will see about that, as much as you lowly progressives try to undercut palin and denigrate her, you still have that fear in your gut, you know barry is finished, he will lose in a landslide come nov 2012.
    in fact i think the democom’s will have to bring in their dead horse hillary for the nomination. why is she getting the face lifts?
    palin is the next president even with all the progressive’s fraud at the polls.
    • Karolyn
      I sure hope and pray that doesn’t happen!
    • Karolyn
      So far , That is correct Chucky.
      not in a general election leastwise.
      Lowly?! ~ maybe that’s only because you are so lofty! From having your head in the clouds, I suppose you are right Chuck, I suppose so.
      I wish they’d get off of Palin too! and I think that you should support and run her.
      If Palin could ever get her foot out of her mouth long enough maybe she could!
      I don’t know who it running in 12 for sure yet and “O” has got some hard ground to cover.
      BuT I’d like to take some of your money ~ if Palin makes the contender list, she won’t make the first cut.
      She is lacking Chuck in both character and content.
      But I’m with you I wish they’d ignore her but she’s like a Nat flying up your nose and hard to ignore and she does this on purpose Chuck.
      She wants to lead out on every issue so we can see her backside. Not a good winning political strategy. It might work well in high school or a small township but not for national affairs.
      It’s more of a alligator mouth and humming bird a$$ syndrome with Palin.
    conservative voters don’t cheat, they sometimes get weak between the ears and vote for people like barry since he was the first black president. it made no difference what he stood for they heard this guy speak with clarity and they understood what he said, that is they thought they understood. what has he done since in office besides travel throughout the world on the tax payers dime and while doing so talked down our country. isn’t it obvious to you the man has little knowledge of anything he says. this administration is worse than jimmy carter if that is possible.
    there’s so much fraud going on in the country it looks like chicago, who knows what is happening with the stock market, what kind of manipulation is going on? we do know george soros is an expert at that. barry has stopped our energy output in order to promote his electric cars trying to save the unions and gm, this will turn out to be a gigantic loss in the end, he will have destroyed any recovery with these high fuel costs and throw this country into a deep depression, it’s already to going that direction. this guy forced the disastrous healthcare bill on the country, even he doesn’t understand it, now he’s going to ram this so called green energy down our throats whether we like it or not. on top of all this they are manipulating the unemployment report to hide what is truly going on.
    face it this man is a huge failure, even hillary couldn’t be this bad,
    well, maybe.
    • bob wire
      “conservative voters don’t cheat,”
      You have my trust that you don’t chuckb.
      but I fail to understand how you can speak for so many.
    Bert;Now that it has been proven you have no wisdom you should listen a little closer when the President speaks and get a little educated.I don’t know how long you have been in that asylum but I do wish you a speedy recovery so I can understand what you are trying to say.
    • Bert Cundle
      Apparently you can’t see the full picture of problems, of United States of America! There are so many, that Presidents, should get the blame for, that there isn’t enough time, to debate them, and get solutions. Other Countries are “NOT” for our President to make decisions about! ( That is what gets us in troubble with others…)
      The Asylum is expanding…becomeing “The whole World again.”
    Bert Cundle,
    You are right.Jopa is wrong Obama is one of the biggest bull shiters
    I have ever seen and to be honest with you I can`t stand to look at the man anymore.I wonder if he thinks the American people are stupid or what. The left won`t addmit that after the Nov.2010 elections the American people are finaly on to Obama. The Dems., or should I say
    Progressives, don`t even think there was an election and if there was they some how think they won. I like the way Obama threw his congressmen that lost under the BUS. He knew they were going down
    if they voted for his health care plan. He didn`t care as long as he got it passed and his name on it.He wanted to show the world just how great he is by getting it passed, when no other President could get it done. It did not matter how he got it done, just so it was done.
    He knew he had a bunch of dumb ass congressmen, so it didn`t matter when they lost their jobs.His job will be the next to go in 2012.If
    I was those congressmen I would turn Republican.
    Wiselady says;
    Thanks to all of you, who spoke with a fervent pitch of frustrations. I too, detected the orchestrated applauding. They were bored sick.
    Suggestion: cut funding for Michelle’staff, about twenty nine at last count, to the same number Laura Bush had… three, I believe. and no funding for all the Czarist Departments!! I
    I liked this ““Every day families sacrifice to live within their means. They deserve a government that does the same.”
    I am a Federal employee, making what comes in “below the median household income” & “poverty line”. He frozen the wages of people such as I and in the last week alone, my cost of getting to work has gone up 10%, along with the rest of you. By time we hit the $5 per gal. mark, I’ll no longer be able to drive to work, nor can I buy a newer car that gets better mileage. There is no mass transit available in the Ca. High desert. There are hundreds of others like me at my base working in “mission critical” jobs who have to drive similar distances to work from all over the desert, but from other locations. They’ll be in similar straits. Good work, Mr. stupid ass.
    REMEMBER THIS, Obmaa is a MUSLIM and he will, as he said, side w/the Muslims if the winds of change come! You can bet you A$$ that this man has NO, I MEAN NO care about this nation , except to destroy it! He is NOT one of us and if the TRUTH be known he is still an Illegal alien! This man has to go because if he does NOT he will destroy our “HERITAGE” and if you think it is bad NOW, just wait until Obama and company or anyone like him destroys it! ALL HELL will break out!! WE NEED TO TAKE this nation back NOW!!! AS Patrick Henry said”Give me Liberty or give me death” That is what people will want after all that will come upon this nation!!
    If a factual error or expression of an opinion different than your constitutes lying then this column has many. Following your link regarding supposed Obama lies before 4 supremce court members I find nothing. I presume however, you refer to his criticsm of the notion that corporations are living individuals entitled to spend whatever amount they wish to elect candidates of their preference. This disagreement with the court decision is shared by many and is not unique to the President. Re: previous government defaults this has not been shown to be a piece of history known to the president that he deliberatly mis-stated. Even poor Srah Palins lack of grammer school knowledge of Paul Reveres’ ride cannot be considered a lie.
    Why do we as a nation continue to tolerate this buffoon for a president? He thinks he is King of America, and we need to just shut up, and do as he dictates!
    Impeach!!! The SOB.
  • Joe
    rulken,I agree,totally!!! but lets send his thugs with him.
    I do believe all the ideas you have introduced to your post. They’re really convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very brief for beginners. May just you please lengthen them a bit from subsequent time? Thank you for the post.
