The Ryan Express

August 14, 2012 by

The Ryan Express
UPI FILE
Representative Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is Mitt Romney's selected running mate.

President Barack Obama is fond of discussing “bridge-building.” Granted, like most of those “shovel-ready projects” about which he used to bloviate, the bridges he builds lead to the same desolate partisan wastelands served by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s high-speed rail scheme. Facing an incumbent who has abandoned everything from the middle class to basic decency on the altar of the Democratic lust for authority, presumptive Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney did something last week that Barack Obama has never considered in his short career beyond “community organizing.” Romney built a bridge spanning the gulf between mewling fence-sitters like himself and the youthful, energized and conservative core of not only the Republican Party, but the Nation itself.

In selecting Representative Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Romney — who up until now seemed to be running a campaign based entirely on the strategy of allowing Obama to continue unspooling the statist, unConstitutional and arrogant rope with which he will ultimately hang himself — sent a message to the Tea Party and increasingly libertarian wing of the GOP that their voices would be heard. Granted, Romney’s occasional portside political inclinations are hardly a guarantee that those voices would be heeded; but compared to the deliberate deafness of the self-styled savior currently stepping on our collective necks, it beats nothing.

While Romney’s selection of Ryan may represent a kiss from the weak side of the Republican Party, it’s worth examining what Ryan’s presence does to Obama. To be fair, I expect Romney could have continued to simply run as the potential beneficiary of the coming National referendum on the flaws, foibles and failures of Obama. But bringing Ryan aboard is a signal that Romney, who has spent much of his actual face time playing defense against Obama shills like Reid and the corporate media, is preparing to get the offense on the field.

Although Obama is notoriously thin-skinned, taking a documented personal dislike to his perceived enemies, Ryan holds a place of honor in Obama’s personal rogue’s gallery. After all, Ryan is the man who famously needed only six minutes to deconstruct the budgetary excesses of Obamacare. In doing so, Ryan deconstructed the bureaucratic monstrosity that is Obama’s signature legislation in an exceptionally public manner, forcing Obama to rely upon the corporate media and left-wing hate groups to shield him. That’s when the Agenda Project produced the appalling “Granny Off the Cliff” ad aimed directly at Ryan.

Of course, as Vice Presidential nominees go, Ryan will compare to current Vice President Joe Biden in much the same way that the winner of the Daytona 500 compares to the kid who came in third at the local Pinewood Derby. As much as I enjoy pointing out Biden’s laugh-or-you’ll-cry intellectual deficiencies, I’m not sure that a Ryan-Biden debate will be any funnier than watching Godzilla level Tokyo. But it’s probably worth noting that just because Ryan will make Biden look like he’s been lobotomized doesn’t mean it fatally wounds Obama 2012. In 1988, Senator Lloyd Bentsen ground Senator Dan Quayle into hamburger, and it didn’t make the idea of a President Michael Dukakis any more palatable.

Ryan does swing Wisconsin back into play. The Cheesehead State barely fended off a full-court Democratic press that included violent union thugs gaining what amounted to a Presidential endorsement in the failed attempt to force Governor Scott Walker out of Madison. Where Romney carries a paternal air (albeit a slightly plastic sort), Ryan adds a no-nonsense Midwestern attitude enhanced by youthful vigor. That’s a marked improvement over Obama’s arrogant, entitled sneer combined with Biden’s bewildered fugue.

And a Vice President Paul Ryan would represent a tie-breaking vote in the Senate, which under Harry Reid’s leadership has settled into itself like a bloated Twinkie addict.  Should the upper house end up split, Ryan’s presence could prompt the moribund body to produce its first budget in years — although I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath in anticipation.

Ryan is far from perfect. His signature can be found on some supersized governmental excesses — such as government borrowing for 25 more years, 3.1 percent government growth and the suggestion of the abominable value added tax (VAT). However, compared to Obama, Biden and even Romney, Ryan is Milton Friedman reborn. And if this doesn’t work, there’s always 2016 — presuming we make it that far.

    Ryan is smart of that there is no doubt. He could slice and dice the dynamic duo we have now in the WH for sure. I just am not sure that the American people realize the depth of debt we have incurred willingly and otherwise. I am not sure that the current generation of retirees and those to follow soon know that they may have to change or make sacrifices? At this point in the game of life that can be more than tricky.
    Since throwing grandma over the cliff is the way Obama will want to portray Ryan I will start there. Ryan may see the need to change things in order to handle our growing population of older citizens. The liberal answer is not an answer. Taxing the rich all the way to 100 percent still leaves a mountain of debt and cures nothing. There is a difference between a possibly reduced benefit check at worst with Ryan or a rubber check which is most likely with Obama. The NoPlan Obama offers us is going to pit the younger generation against the older generations before them for the younger generations paycheck. Ain’t that a hoot?

      I loved the video, I only wish it were Obama in the wheelchair.

      • Jeff

        Mikey:

        I know you hate everything, but listen up. Obama could easily arrange to have the guy in the wheel chair be you or Rush Fatbaugh or any of your heroes. That he has not done so illustrates the difference between him and you (or your fantasy of him). If Obama were a tenth of what you guys have accused, do you think there would still be blowhards on the radio making stuff up? How long would any of the AM idiots last under Stalin or anyone else you morons like to compare Obama to?

        • David

          The only reason he hasn’t done it yet, is that he knows it would lead to civil war! He will dispense with freedoms, such as free speech, a little at a time so as not to alarm anyone!

          • Jeff

            Are you telling me that someone devious and clever enough to fool the whole world couldn’t have people dispatched without arousing suspicion? If I were you, I wouldn’t leave the bedroom, especially on election day. Wouldn’t want to see a grand piano drop on you.

          • David

            Ha! Ha! Boy your funny….Not! Just ignorant!

          • Deerinwater

            Welcome David Dumb$hit, ~ we were getting low on dumb$hits, bring you poison and halo and hop aboard the Love Boat and i hope you enjoy the cruse. You wouldn’t have any unpersons hidden in cargo would you?

      • Justin Rogers

        You folks clearly need to study up on FABIAN socialism. But Jeff, you’re right in that it isn’t just Obama. All of the PTB are involved.

        • Jeff

          Or like Joe McCarthy, when told one of his intended targets was an anti-Communist: “I don’t care what kind of Communist he is.”

      • http://Comcast The fisherman

        Let us see if Ryan pushes his mama over the hill

    • k-chan

      Ryan voted for: VAT and TARPP, Medicare part D, the Patriot Act, DHS and the creation of TSA, the NDAA and against the admendment that would have made it illegal to detain US citizens.

      If Romney’s VP nomination was some act to show the Tea Party that “their voice had been heard,” the act was in defiance.

      • Liberty Minded

        I agree, Ryan is not a friend of the Tea Party.

      • SamFox

        k-chan & Liberty Minded get it. Ryan is just another false flag to give more false hope that DC will finally be changed. People need to check Ryan’s budget busting votes. Ryan is no where near fiscal conservative & neither is double tongue Mitt.

        SamFox

    Ryan is an interesting choice. I had written off Romney as a Republican throwaway in a year where they feared damaging their heavy hitters in a race with a sitting President. Ryan, on the other hand was their darling when he stepped out with his tax plan, then fell back into relative obscurity when his plan failed to gain traction. I sort of assumed that the Republican leadership had planned to give a little time for the dust to settle before sending him back in for battle in 2013. I guess not!

    There’s no question, Romney is a weak candidate. Obama has had a tough time getting much through the Republican Congress, and with a little spin many Americans have been convinced that it is only his lack of planing and not Republican obstruction that has prevented progress. Even with a tough economy, high unemployment and a pool of billionaire’s buddy’s (not to mention his own fortune,) Romney has had little luck making any ground in the polls. Now they have thrown Ryan into the pot, which I’m sure will improve Romney’s standing with the TEA Party, but will also alienate many seniors and young people. Ryan should drive a lot of fence sitting Conservatives to the polls, but reminders of his budget cutting plan will also reinvigorate a lot of moderates and those disenfranchised Liberals. I just can’t decide if Ryan was a hail mary or a white flag?

    • Susie

      Of course the Ryan pick was a hell mary. Get out there and educate people on the facts and Romney will win, even against the fierce lies that Obama presents to the American people. I plan on preparing letters with the facts and distributing them to my neighbors, so they will be informed. It will take all of us to stand with Romeny and Ryan…we are their media outlet…one that tells the TRUTH! We all need to articulate to everyone we know the lies that the Democrats are spreading!!

      • Larry A. Bouchy

        Dear Susie:

        You hit the nail right on the head! This is exactly what “we the people” need to do to combat the bias of the press. Every American who cares about the future of our country needs to join forces and become the “American True Press– of the People and for the People!” We need to “spread the truth” to combat the dishonesty, deceit and just plain lies being spread by President Obama and the Democratic Party. I applaud your effort and patriotism.

      • nc

        Susie, when you tell your neighbors the TRUTH with your letter will you be truthful of where the country was before Obama took office and which party and its’ policy got us to that point? Will you explain the difference in tax policy of this bunch of Republicans and that bunch of Republicans who failed to produce the PROMISED jobs. What is that difference? Will you explain the difference between this bunch and the last bunch on war and defense spending? What is that difference??
        2001-2008 were actual years with actual results, debt and deaths, as much as the Republicans would like for them to go away! The Republican Party platform did not serve this country very well under bush I & II regardless of what they and The Heritage Foundation promised American. Will your letter place any blame on the Republicans for this mess?? Blame for what???

      • Flashy

        NC…as much as one would like to believe the TPers and American Taliban would tell the facts, you know as well as i they can’t. to do such would have to accede that we are where we stand today because of the GOP and TP ultra right wing whacked policies and obstructionist tactics.

        nothing proposed by Romney or Ryan adds up when numbers are crunched. nothing. yet…the solutions they offer/ Cut every policy and program benefiting the Middle Class and our society..and leave the welfare state for the wealthy intact with better bennies to the elite and above all protect the mega corporations while raping small business.

        And these folks are told to believe this is good. And so, like good little robots unwilling to think..who are led and feed on the TP Trilogy of fear, hate and ignorance…the truth will take a back seat.

      • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

        nc says: Susie, when you tell your neighbors the TRUTH with your letter will you be truthful of where the country was before Obama took office and which party and its’ policy got us to that point?

        nc, the TRUTH is that both parties got us to this point. But i’m sure there are still some who still believe that the mess we’re in is the result of only one party. I’m sure Susie will do her best to point out the error of their ways. Hopefully, they’re not all as ignorant as you!

      • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

        Flashy says: NC…as much as one would like to believe the TPers and American Taliban would tell the facts, you know as well as i they can’t. to do such would have to accede that we are where we stand today because of the GOP and TP ultra right wing whacked policies and obstructionist tactics.

        You are partly correct Flashy. However, the success of the GOP depends entirely on the full cooperation of the Demon-rats/Progressives. Apparently, the Demon-rats are in full agreement with the GOP, and always, offer their full support and cooperation.

        Flashy says: nothing proposed by Romney or Ryan adds up when numbers are crunched. nothing. yet…the solutions they offer/ Cut every policy and program benefiting the Middle Class and our society..and leave the welfare state for the wealthy intact with better bennies to the elite and above all protect the mega corporations while raping small business.

        It’s pretty clear to those who have been paying attention since 2009 that Obama is going along with his original plan – the destruction of the U.S. economy. It’s pretty obvious from all of the policies that Obama has put into place along with the insane spending on ridiculous things that he has decided taxpayers should foot the bill for. If you really have no clue (hint: if you’re a Liberal, you don’t) then let me refresh your memory. In no particular damaging order:

        Stimulus – over $800 billion (close to a Trillion with interest) that Obama demanded the completely Democrat controlled House & Senate pass or unemployment would go past 8%. Earth to those who supported the porkulous – it was nothing more than Democrat pet projects that had little to nothing to do with infrastructure jobs or actual jobs that would ever serve a purpose to the United States taxpayers (other than Obama, Pelosi and Reid’s left wing buddies). It was an epic failure.

        Auto Bailout – This was nothing more than a disgusting display of union payback. Obama screwed over the bondholders for the UAW when sending checks to GM and Chrysler (NOTE: Ford did NOT take a dime in bailout money) . Obama forced hundreds of auto dealers (who didn’t cost GM or Chrysler a dime) to close their doors – even those who had stellar sales and were in business for sometimes over 100 years.

        Cash for Clunkers – This program not only cost taxpayers much more than the $4,000 credit given to those who purchased new vehicles but it hurt the used auto industry , parts dealers and mechanics because Obama forced all of those vehicles to be destroyed.

        Fishing Industry – The NOAA has been perverse in their ‘catch share’ regulations, so much so that many lifelong fishermen are now unemployed and will be until the corrupt NOAA is put to rest.

        Oil Industry – Obama’s illegal oil moratorium killed or put on hold thousands of jobs in the industry (meanwhile he vowed to help Brazil dig for even deeper ocean oil); even forcing some rigs to leave for ‘greener pastures’. This has had a horrific effect on the oil industry and thousands of people who rely on it in a domino effect.

        Coal Industry – Obama’s EPA is now trying to push even further regulations on the coal industry (which powers this country) to the point where some aren’t even bothering to continue in it any longer and to the point where many will lose their jobs. Of course, this shouldn’t be a surprise since Obama explicitly stated he wanted to bankrupt the coal industry via Cap & Trade when he was running for President.

        Student Loan Industry – Obama decided to have the federal government take over and run the student loan industry that previously was run by the private sector again killing thousands of jobs. All one has to do is take a look at Fannie & Freddie or the Post Office to see how efficient and effective this idea will be.

        Financial Reform Bill – Not only does this bill hurt consumers but it kills jobs and promotes corruption. This bill was written by the very people (Dodd & Frank) who aided in the financial mess in the first place.

        Fannie & Freddie – The Democrat’s favorite corrupt organization that had the biggest hand in the Housing crisis is taking billions of dollars from taxpayers to bail the failing (and should be allowed to fail) organization out. This is throwing bad money after bad.

        Mortgage Financing Scam – Obama spent billions of taxpayer $$ to help people refinance their mortgages so they wouldn’t lose their homes . The program cost billions and not only pushed people into foreclosure who weren’t going to foreclose but helped very few others.

        Illegal War in Libya – Billions of dollars spent on a war that Obama refuses to call a war and a war he also refuses to get permission from Congress to be in. There is no reason for the U.S. to be in Libya let alone spend billions of dollars to be there.

        No budget – Neither Obama nor the Democrats have passed a budget in over 800 days. This is not only irresponsible but shows the Democrats’ complete and utter contempt for Americans. They are elected to do a job and they can’t even handle the most basic element of that job – producing a budget.

        Extending Unemployment for 99 Weeks – It has been proven throughout the WORLD that extending unemployment benefits only keeps people unemployed for longer. This has proven true yet again. You probably all know someone who stayed on unemployment the entire 99 weeks and then miraculously got a job when it was ending.

        Killing 500,000 Non-union Jobs – Obama has decided he wants to increase fuel standards (regardless of the fact that automakers have been doing this on their own the past 20 years). “By 2025 auto makers will have to meet fuel efficiency standards that brings “new cars to 54.5 miles a gallon by 2025, roughly double the current level, in a bid to reduce U.S. oil consumption,” says the Wall Street Journal.” Of course, these only apply to automakers in the U.S. – kiss even more jobs goodbye.

        Obamacare – One of the biggest takeovers of any industry in United States history, Obamacare will hurt consumers, the medical profession, businesses and taxpayers while hurting the economy in general.

        EPA Food Regulations – The EPA is putting ridiculous regulations in place without any input from Congress or testimony from experts. This seems to be par for the course for the Obama Administration and this hurts consumers with higher costs , especially the poor, working and middle classes.

        Increase in Welfare Spending – Obama has increased welfare spending from “$522 billion to $697 billion. The combined two-year increase will equal almost $263 billion ($88.2 billion in FY 2009 plus $174.6 billion in FY 2010). After adjusting for inflation, this increase is two and a half times greater than any previous increase in federal welfare spending in U.S. history. As a share of the economy, annual federal welfare spending will rise by roughly 1.2 percent of GDP.”

        Increase in Foreign Aid – Obama seeks an 8% increase in foreign aid over last year; Foreign aid that often reaches countries who absolutely despise the United States and often ends up in the hands of the corrupt leaders that run these countries without ever reaching its goal to help the actual people of the countries.

        Billions Spent on ‘Green Jobs’ – Obama is spending billions of tax dollars on green jobs yet what exactly ARE ‘green jobs’? Where are the statistics showing that all of the billions he is spending have created any ‘green jobs’? (Note: There ARE no statistics – even the Bureau of Labor Statistics can’t figure this one out.) Just know that Americans are paying billions for them.

        Printing Money – Also known as Quantitative Easing – where the Federal Reserve feels
        the need to print ‘monopoly money’ in order to somehow stimulate the economy. The problem is that Quantitative Easing actually hurts the economy in the long run by devaluing the dollar (amongst other negative impacts.) Who does this hurt the most – the poor, working and middle classes.

        The sad part is that this isn’t a complete list but it proves the point that Obama’s policies are destroying the U.S. economy. The man is a Harvard graduate. I would like to assume he isn’t a complete and utter moron unless Harvard’s standards have severely trended downward. If someone who had absolutely no clue about politics or economics read this list and all of the destruction that it is causing, they would have to come to the conclusion that whoever is putting these policies into place is seeking to destroy the country. It is as clear as day. Obama has a plan – it is to continue his destruction of the economy.

        And you, Flashy, and folks like you, are told to believe this is good. And so, like good little robots unwilling to think..you are led and feed on the leftist/progressive Trilogy of greed, entitlement-mentality and ignorance…the truth will take a back seat.

      • Flashy

        Stimulus – over $800 billion (close to a Trillion with interest) that Obama demanded the completely Democrat controlled House & Senate pass or unemployment would go past 8%. It was an epic failure.
        ========
        From Factcheck.org –> ” CBO, Nov. 30: [I]n the third quarter of calendar year 2009, an additional 600,000 to 1.6 million people were employed in the United States, and real (inflation-adjusted) gross domestic product was 1.2 percent to 3.2 percent higher, than would have been the case in the absence of ARRA.

        That’s a pretty broad spread, but CBO says the range includes the views of most economists and reflects the inherent uncertainty of such estimates. The agency, unlike Recovery.gov, didn’t depend just on reports filed by recipients of stimulus funds to make its calculations, because the reports don’t provide a complete picture of the law’s impact on jobs. For one thing, the reports measure only jobs created or saved by employers who receive stimulus money directly or their immediate subcontractors, but not lower-level contractors. In addition, the fact that grant recipients and their workers have money in their pockets means they’ll spend some of it on products and services, creating more jobs. And the reports, CBO notes, only cover some of ARRA’s spending; the effects of tax cuts, transfers to individuals (such as unemployment payments) and other elements of the stimulus package aren’t measured on Recovery.gov.

        Instead, CBO, taking the money spent so far and estimates of the stimulus act’s impact on spending and revenue, arrived at its figures using evidence of how earlier policies have affected the economy as well as various economic models. The agency’s numbers were remarkably consistent with its estimates from March 2009, when it projected that 600,000 to 1.5 million jobs would be created or saved and real GDP would be 1.1 percent to 3.0 percent higher than it would have been without the stimulus.”

        ===========
        NYT’s 02/26/12 : “there are 1.45 million people who are working as a direct result of the $80 billion bailout, according to the nonpartisan Center for Automotive Research, both at the carmakers and associated businesses downstream in the economy. Michigan’s unemployment level is at its lowest level in three years. G.M. is again the world’s biggest automaker, and both companies are reporting substantial profits. ” and as to the claims it was a “union bailout”..same article “After earlier agreeing to let newly hired workers make half the wage of current employees, unions consented in the bailout deal to give up cost-of-living increases, dental coverage, and some vacation benefits and work rules. Unions also took the gamble of accepting a company stock fund to pay for their health benefits, instead of cash. ”

        Cash for Clunkers – This program not only cost taxpayers much more than the $4,000 credit given to those who purchased new vehicles but it hurt the used auto industry , parts dealers and mechanics because Obama forced all of those vehicles to be destroyed.
        ===========
        hurt the auto indystry and parts suppliers? How? because it took an aging fleet off the roads and encouraged newer models with better fuel mileage, newer machined parts,
        gave consumers a boost in being able to take inefficient models off the road and giving funding to purchase newer models. AND, because of the Cash for Clunkers, used car values stayed stable, not diving, thus saving many auto loans from going under, values from equity to diving like a rock in a pond, and propping up this vital consumer lending segment. The result/ We’re saving on oil costs, families have more equity, we have less pollution and machined towards modern parts, and consumers went forth with renewed confidence and bought the new cars they had been stalling in purchasing.

        Fishing Industry – The NOAA has been perverse in their ‘catch share’ regulations, so much so that many lifelong fishermen are now unemployed and will be until the corrupt NOAA is put to rest.
        ============
        From Fisheries Home —> “February 22, 2012
        West Coast commercial fishermen who trawl for whiting and other valuable groundfish saw their revenues and efficiency increase substantially over the last year under a new fishery management system known as catch shares, according to preliminary data from NOAA’s Fisheries Service.

        Gross revenues increased in 2011 compared to the five-year average for the West Coast groundfish fleet, which targets either whiting or other groundfish. In the non-whiting fleet, revenue per vessel was up 34 percent, from an average of $216,000 over the previous five years to slightly more than $289,000 in 2011. October and December were particularly good months for the non-whiting fleet, with revenues about double the five-year average. The whiting fleet saw revenues climb even more, from about $273,000 on average over the last few years to $775,000 in 2011.”

        ==========
        Domestic production up, gulf production up, oil imports the lowest in years. Now how exactly have policies inhibited the oil industry?

        Coal Industry – Obama’s EPA is now trying to push even further regulations on the coal industry (which powers this country) to the point where some aren’t even bothering to continue in it any longer and to the point where many will lose their jobs. Of course, this shouldn’t be a surprise since Obama explicitly stated he wanted to bankrupt the coal industry via Cap & Trade when he was running for President.
        ===========
        A) I don’t believe the President stated that. Care to enunciate the policies you’re making a blanket statement about?

        Student Loan Industry – Obama decided to have the federal government take over and run the student loan industry that previously was run by the private sector again killing thousands of jobs. All one has to do is take a look at Fannie & Freddie or the Post Office to see how efficient and effective this idea will be.
        ============
        Oh yeah. The Student loan program used to be completely federal. Then in 1993, as part of the Reconciliation compromise hammered out by Gingrich and Clinton, private lenders were given guarantees for student loans. Interest rates went up, and the number of loans went down to reach the lowest levels in 30 years in 2007. Speak with students and their families today about their student loans, interest rates, etc. I believe you will find your statements to be false. Now…here’s the facts about college loans. Under this President, federal guarantees are decreasing..and direct lending increasing. Lower rates, and an end to the double dip in fees charged to the government by private lenders.

        From the New America Foundation —> “In 2010, Congress passed and the President signed into law a bill that eliminated the FFEL program for all new loans made as of July 1, 2010. All federal student loans have been made under the Direct Loan program as of that date. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the elimination of the FFEL program under the law would generate $68.7 billion in savings over the next ten years. These savings were used to increase funding for the Pell Grant program.”

        Financial Reform Bill – Not only does this bill hurt consumers but it kills jobs and promotes corruption. This bill was written by the very people (Dodd & Frank) who aided in the financial mess in the first place.
        ========
        typical GOP rant. In what way are consumers hurt? Mortgage and consumer finance disclosures more informative, all fees and charges and the actual interest rates now disclosed, and end to predatory lending, and tighter reporting requirements.
        ===============

        Fannie & Freddie – The Democrat’s favorite corrupt organization that had the biggest hand in the Housing crisis is taking billions of dollars from taxpayers to bail the failing (and should be allowed to fail) organization out. This is throwing bad money after bad.
        =============
        Since you aren’t specific here..is this just a toss against the wall claim and hope it sticks ?

        Mortgage Financing Scam – Obama spent billions of taxpayer $$ to help people refinance their mortgages so they wouldn’t lose their homes . The program cost billions and not only pushed people into foreclosure who weren’t going to foreclose but helped very few others.
        ================
        WHAT program are you talking about ????? This is showing you have no clue what you’re talking about and cutting and pasting talking points. Specific programs please? This oughtta be a good one…jeesh …

        Illegal War in Libya – Billions of dollars spent on a war that Obama refuses to call a war and a war he also refuses to get permission from Congress to be in. There is no reason for the U.S. to be in Libya let alone spend billions of dollars to be there.
        ==============
        You support Qaddaffi eh? Do you send XMas cards to the killers of the Lockerbie terrorist act? To the families of those killed throughout Europe at our bases? So…is providing logistical and air support in a NATO action against a well-known international criminal a bad thing ? Obviously you think Qaddaffi should have been idolized and greeted as a hero of the Revolution,,,,

        No budget – Neither Obama nor the Democrats have passed a budget in over 800 days. This is not only irresponsible but shows the Democrats’ complete and utter contempt for Americans. They are elected to do a job and they can’t even handle the most basic element of that job – producing a budget.
        ==========
        Obama has no power to pass a budget. I believe if you examine the working of Congress..there is a little matter of the GOP stalling and obstructing every action to move any budget forward.

        ==============
        I had my doubts on this claim, so I looked in up in my Tea party handbook in the chapter titled “How to be Rich Quick”. Sure enough, listed as #5 is get laid off your job paying you $4,000/ month, draw unemployment of $300/week (before taxes), support your family, and reap the wealth.

        ==============
        No, they apply to all cars sold in the US. ya sure about those job losses? Haven’t checked out the move US automakers are building into the cars as the way to meet the efficiency standards eh? Common in Europe…start-stop technology. And lowering our dependence on foreign oil is a bad thing in your eyes? Right up there with want to protect Qaddaffi from answering for his butchery around the world. A pattern is developing here…

        Obamacare – One of the biggest takeovers of any industry in United States history, Obamacare will hurt consumers, the medical profession, businesses and taxpayers while hurting the economy in general.
        ===========
        Says you. What part of the health care reform would you do away with? Pre-existing conditions? the rebate if more than 20% of premiums spent on other than health related care? Keeping your children on your plan until they turn 26? Women’s health? Family and Senior citizen healthcare? What part? Which programs? You realize the CBO has the health care reforms saving us money don’t you?

        EPA Food Regulations – The EPA is putting ridiculous regulations in place without any input from Congress or testimony from experts. This seems to be par for the course for the Obama Administration and this hurts consumers with higher costs , especially the poor, working and middle classes.
        ===========
        Care to be specific or just toss out more claims?

        Increase in Welfare Spending – Obama has increased welfare spending from “$522 billion to $697 billion. The combined two-year increase will equal almost $263 billion ($88.2 billion in FY 2009 plus $174.6 billion in FY 2010). After adjusting for inflation, this increase is two and a half times greater than any previous increase in federal welfare spending in U.S. history. As a share of the economy, annual federal welfare spending will rise by roughly 1.2 percent of GDP.”
        ==============
        I know..the Bush II/Cheney job losses of almost a million/month and the GOP caused Recession/Depression has nothing to do with this. Uh huh …

        ==========
        Specifics?

        Billions Spent on ‘Green Jobs’ – Obama is spending billions of tax dollars on green jobs yet what exactly ARE ‘green jobs’? Where are the statistics showing that all of the billions he is spending have created any ‘green jobs’? (Note: There ARE no statistics – even the Bureau of Labor Statistics can’t figure this one out.) Just know that Americans are paying billions for them.
        =================
        Again. more claims, no specifics. Just hot air without support or logic.

        ===============
        Jeesh….your economic basis for stating this is? According to the TP Trilogy backed statements from 2009 onward, we should be in triple digit inflation by now. You don’t suppose the credit rating drop caused by the GOP, the lack of any cohesive economic policy caused by the Congressional GOP members, nor that the credit debacle we’re still suffering from from the Bush II/Cheney years has anything to do with the need to keep interest rates down, credit lines available to business and consumer lending available?

        The sad part is that this isn’t a complete list but it proves the point that Obama’s policies are destroying the U.S. economy.
        ============
        Ummmm..snce nothing you state above is factual and/or supported with any type of specifics either in program or economics…I would say you haven’t an idea what you’re stating and just hoping your BS is believed by someone ….

        And you, Flashy, and folks like you, are told to believe this is good.
        ============
        And, by looking at data ad the facts…it is good.

        Flashman says — “From Factcheck.org –> ” CBO, Nov. 30: [I]n the third quarter of calendar year 2009, an additional 600,000 to 1.6 million people were employed in the United States”.
        That’s strange because the Bureau of Labor Standards posts these figures:
        Non-farm employment for January 2009 — 133561000
        Non-farm employment for February 2009 — 132837000
        Non-farm employment for March 2009 — 132038000
        Non-farm employment for April 2009 — 131346000
        Non-farm employment for May 2009 — 130985000
        Non-farm employment for June 2009 — 130503000
        Non-farm employment for July 2009 — 130164000
        Non-farm employment for August 2009 — 129933000
        Non-farm employment for September 2009 — 129734000
        Non-farm employment for October 2009 — 129532000
        Non-farm employment for November 2009 — 129490000
        Non-farm employment for December 2009 — 129319000

        That’s a decrease of total non-farm employment for every single month of the year 2009.
        Somebody’s not being honest here.

      • BigBadJohn

        Jay says:

        “nc, the TRUTH is that both parties got us to this point. But i’m sure there are still some who still believe that the mess we’re in is the result of only one party.

        It’s pretty clear to those who have been paying attention since 2009 that Obama is going along with his original plan – the destruction of the U.S. economy. It’s pretty obvious from all of the policies that Obama has put into place along with the insane spending on ridiculous things that he has decided taxpayers should foot the bill for.”

        OK Jay, So is this mess BOTH parties or just one? Make up your mind. REPUBLICANS control congress, who writes laws and budgets?????

        You seem to be trying to lay the blame on Obama when republicans control the congress.

      • SJJolly

        Susie:: To borrow a famous political phrase, “Half the lies the Democrats are spreading about Romney and Ryan aren’t true!”
        Romney’s pick of Ryan actually is rather conservative (in more than one sense). It cements the support of the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party — with it’s big money backers — at the certain cost of many moderate Republicans and independents. Call it a white flag. A true “hail Mary” choice would have been Ron Paul.

    • Patriot

      Kinetic1, your talking points will not sway anyone on this site, please do a bot of research. The House as passed over 200 bills the last 2 years and most, if not all, are held up in the Democrat controlled Senate. Oh, btw the Senate has not passed a budget in 4 years, so who is the obstructionists? Also, Obama’s budget 2 years ago was rejected in the Senate 99-0, with 1 abstaining. The American public will not put up with the lies and deceit of the most corrupt administration on our history and how anyone can support anything about this Regime is beyond my comprehension!

      • nc

        Patriot, before there was Harry Reid and the problem in the Senate there was the Party of NO! Remember?? Probably not! There was Obama at the beginning trying to fix what he was elected to fix but getting no help from the Republicans! But that was OK! Right?
        What about the years of 2001-2008 with complete Republican control for 6 of the eight years was any indication that the Republicans had the right answers? Two unpopular wars, unpopular tax bills for the rich, screwed up disaster relief and a recession! Any more favors you Republicans want to do for Americans? I would rather sit on the front step and mash my toes with a hammer than live under another bush style platform!!
        Evidently the 5% here did not understand what the 76% who did not approve saw was wrong in this country in 2008! First thing I was taught in the Marines was there would always be 10% who never get the word NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TOLD THEM! REASONS: IGNORANCE, DENIAL OR BOTH! The “bush years” did happen and alot of people who lost their jobs, houses and businesses still don’t have them back! Therefore, the effect lingers! Man up and help out!

      • Flashy

        Budgets originate in the House. The GOP radicals in the House propose budgets which will destroy our economy. They and their supporters call themselves “patriots’ for trying to destroy this nation.

        Think about that…

      • Flashy

        Always… care to cite one of the so-called House budget bills before the Senate you’d support ?

      • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

        Although Democrats failed to support the Iraq War, many of the Democratic leadership authorized the military action. Furthermore, virtually all Democrats voted for the war in Afghanistan.

        Also, while liberals consider the Patriot Act the “poster child” of abuse by the Bush administration, strong majorities of Democrats voted for the legislation, and Senate Democrats, including President Obama, voted to reauthorize the provision.

        With respect to FISA, Democrats, particularly members of the House of Representatives, have strongly opposed the expansion of presidential power. Nonetheless, many of the most powerful Democrats, including President Obama, voted to augment presidential power under FISA and to immunize companies that helped Bush conduct warrantless wiretaps.

        Although presidents have a lot of control over the legislative agenda that Congress pursues — particularly with respect to war — this does not deprive Congress, including members of the minority party, from organizing against the president’s initiatives. And while many liberals consider Bush the worst president in U.S. history, many Democrats voted in favor of policies that commentators cite as Bush’s most disastrous.

    Here is one senior delighted with the choice of Ryan as VP! I was lukewarm to Romney, but what a wise choice he made! Now, I’m excited.

    • Doc Sarvis

      Under Paul Ryan’s privatized Medicare voucher program “old” will be a high cost pre-existing condition.

      • Debbie

        Correction, with the ObamaCare robbery of Medicare PLUS the 15-member death panel, your likelihood of departing the mortal coil sooner versus later is substantially higher versus Ryan’s plan — where you can either take your chances with the current plan or choose something that might work better for you and MAY be cheaper. Ryan’s plan, even if enacted, will not apply to me because I’m 58; however, I would LOVE the opportunity to do something else. My mother’s current deteriorated health is partially the result of so few doctors in her community willing to accept Medicare patients. It’s sad and frightening.

      • Karolyn

        Actually, your mother’s deteriorated health is the product of the “deathcare” system in this country that treats symptoms and not causes, as well as the poisons we ingest. We don’t need more healthcare; we need more health education.

      • Mikey

        Karolyn, for once you and I agree.

      • BigBadJohn

        I Agree Karolyn but the problems go a lot deeper. Part of it is over regulation from the FDA and the associated liability. Doctors are afraid to think outside of the box or even talk about alternatives other than what the FDA has approved – because of liability.

        Another huge part of it is the number of doctors, I am not sure if it is the AMA or if the hospitals themselves restrict the number of doctors – but not enough people are admitted to medical schools. I know a young lady her father was chief of surgery at two different hospitals, she was premed at Duke university pulled a 3.8+ and had a hard time getting admitted to ANY medical school.

      I am a 73 year old senior, and I can tell you firsthand what Obamacare has cost me some 20 months ago. My Medicare Advantage premium increased by 454% at the beginning of 2011. Obama’s lie about keeping your doctor and your insurance left out the caveat of “IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT”.

      • SJJolly

        Jutebox: Obamacare failed to change the biggest problem with American medical care: We have the best medical care in the world — If you can afford it. For profit hospitals, paid by for profit health insurance companies, along with for profit drug companies, and with far too little effective price competition, all charging all they can get, driving prices up far faster than inflation. Medical system free enterprise, with too little self-restraint or concern for long-term effects.

    • Corkey

      The VP choice is irrelevant. Any money they redirect from entitlements will go to useless military spending overseas. Both parties are idiotic and won’t help the economy or middle class. We need new leadership in Ron Paul or Gary Johnson, not these hopeless retreads who are all talk.

      No need to write him in, he’s on the ballot representing the Libertarian Party. I’d like to see him in the debates but it’s doubtful.

  • http://donthaveone Beberoni

    At least Romney knows how to conduct business, and has been successful at every turn, and has shown leadership ability in the running of the Olympics and many other things. Obama has shown his idea of running business is to tax successful business, to where many are wanting to leave the country, then reward failures by giving them billions of our tax payer moneys. This isnt how you run business, and if you dont run the country like a business, your going to be broke, and Obama has sunk us to unknown debts, and still chooses to not accept any responsibility, because it is always someone elses fault with the democrats. They do real good until they run out of other peoples money. It seems Obama thinks I should be more concerned with what Mitt Romney does with his money, than I should be with what Obama is doing with my money. That is the problem, one of many, that will send him to the curb.

    • Brad

          Dear jopa,

It passed the Senate 74-25 (Kennedy did not vote) and Obama was one of the Yeas. Here is Obama speaking on the Senate floor in favor of the bill http://metavid.ucsc.edu/wiki/Stream:Senate_proceeding_10-01-08_00/2:38:38/2:53:07. It passed the House 263-171.

          You write: “…do you have a selective memory?” I believe you have used selective memorization.

      Doc, I bet you think that a mimimum wage helps increase the wages of the poor or less fortunate. You need to learn ecomonics, what kind of fool would ever vote for the current adminstation is either brainwashed beyond hope or 100% on the public dole. We need the elected officials to start communicating the facts, so that we can help start understanding and fixing the major problems we face. Here is a clue if the economic system collapses there is nothing that will keep you safe, nothing! Let the hard work begin now to avoid such a scenario, with Obama, the cliff will be closer than you think! When Obama says fundamentally transform, this means collapsing the system, you Drones need to wake up!

    Hey Doc, if your going to, you know, but down the cost of the war, dont forget to add up all the Obama money spent these last 4 years, as he escalated both of them, Iraq and Afghanistan. And the democrat congress all voted to invade Iraq, but you must have forgotten that. And the Bush tax cuts are a good thing, as your not painting the whole picture. You cut taxes, business and people have more, so more gets built, more gets manufactures, new jobs are created, more people paying taxes, more money in your pocket to buy things, which create more sales tax. But for some reason you dems cant see that. You see a successful business, and you want to tax it to death because it isnt fair to you for someone to succeed like that, so you run them into the ground to where they finally decide to take their business to another country, and we all lose out. Its not that hard to see the bleak reality of raising taxes. Why would you or anyone support raising taxes? Its unbelievable.

    • Doc Sarvis

      I don’t remember that President Obama escalated things in Iraq. I do know that he drew down our combat forces and actually got them out of Iraq AHEAD of schedule. Afghanistan is another story. That is where our real priorities should have been from the start as opposed to Iraq. Bush set us up to fail in Afghanistan by committing the majority of our fighting troops to the false war in Iraq. President Obama saw that we needed to get some level of control in Afghanistan before we could leave that country AND he was committed to get bin Laden – which our forces did under his command.

      The Bush tax cuts would have been a good thing IF the resulted in more jobs. I think tax cuts are working for the middle and lower class. The rich, who benefit the most from these tax cuts are NOT making a dent in our job market. They continue to ship our jobs overseas, gaining a tax break for doing that – Hello Mr. Romney! They also continue to concentrate our country’s wealth in 1% of the population so that there is less for the 99% to work with. If you are rich enough you can take advantage of the system (devised by and for the rich) to accumulate more financial resources; and thus continue to concentrate (redistribute) the wealth to the very highest “earners”. Money becomes more money. The rest of us are sold the lie that the wealthy will create more jobs for us.

      • http://yahoo marc lizotte

        Obomonation you Bimbocrat ,had a MANDATE to go into Afghanistan PER George Bush, also getting out of Iraq .

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

        Marc is correct. And it wasnt for Gitmo, they never would have gotten the intel they needed to find Bin Laden either, but we all know how you bleeding heart liberals think it was such a bad place, and needed to be closed down right away. Funny how things change when the shoes on the other foot and your the one that has to answer, and so in saying that, I guess now, according to you liberals and your own speak, that this must be Obama’s war for oil? Hmmm. Funny how that changes isnt it. And it used to be everytime someone died, they publicized it all over the alphabet networks, and constantly gave a death count, and now it seems I hear on Fox news groups of 4 and 5 dying, and there is nothing on the alphabet networks, no cries of war for oil, no cries of the war monger democrats. Pretty amazing how all that changes when you cant use it to attack the other side. Pretty pathetic stuff from the left, and if one looks at it, they can truly see who the liberal left is, and how they have failed miserable, and offered nothing but false words. I truly believe Romney and Ryan, within 2 years of taking office, will have this economy rolling, just as GW did when he took over Clintons recession, without crying and pointing fingers like Obama did, yet Obama has made everything worse, balooning unemployment from what, 4.6 percent to what they say is 10 percent, when we all know its closer to 15 percent. But you know, according to them, its Bush’s fault. But I would have to raise the question, that things were worse when Bush took over from Clinton, and within 2 years his admin had things going good. So now, after 4 years, why cant Obama do the same? Because its simple, they have no plan, and never had any plans. They simply spent millions crying “Change, change, change”, and people fell for it. I would surely hope, that America does not do something this stupid again.

      • TS

        To Doc, Oblamer has been too busy playing golf, taking separate trips to Hawaii from his wife, thereby using double the fuel (very green) and security teams on the taxpayers dime, and campaigning to get his arrogant, egotistical self back in the oval office, in order to really finish off this great country. He is no friend of the US, wants to see us fail and a second term would only help him accomplish this. He is an apologist for America, our great country. Why anyone would vote for this redistributionist, lying fool I cannot comprehend. We need some sharp minds back in the WH who understand economics and how to get our economy growing again. And as for the wealthy creating jobs, do you actually think we’ll create jobs from the poor people? I can’t see that happening.

      • THG

        Doc ….He’s still sending troops to Iraq . Who told you he had pulled them all out and wasn’t sending anymore ? Oh yeah , you must be listening to another DemonCat . I live in a military town , I retired here years ago . I still have many friends that are still serving this Country. One of my best friends just left for Iraq with his Company 2 weeks ago . That doesn’t sound like he’s not sending any more to me . Yes he does bring some home as soon as their replacements get there.

      • Doc Sarvis

        The distinction that I made is the term “combat” troops. President Obama removed, ahead of schedule, combat troops.

        For all Omamites, (those who are taken in by Obama and Obamists) and Omamists (those who propagandize for Obama and support Obama unthinkingly, or because it’s their job, because they work on his campaign, or because they are part of and spokespersons for the 1%):

        Obama fails as president because he:

        1. Continually engages in unnecessary war in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen; wanted to keep troops in Iraq;

        2. Opposes accountability for those who torture;

        3. Targets U.S. citizens for assassination. asserts the power to kidnap and indefinitely detain people, including U.S. citizens, without charges, trial, assistance of legal counsel, or right of habeas corpus — perhaps the most subversive, anti-American stance ever taken by a Congress or a President in our nation’s history;

        4. Takes, or purports to authorize a president to take, our nation to war without a finding by Congress that war is justified — and without compliance with the U.N. Charter, to which the U.S. is a signatory;

        5. Continues to allow multi-national corporations to profit by depriving U.S. workers of their jobs while exporting millions of jobs with nearly slave conditions in other nations;

        6. Refuses to implement programs like the Works Progress Administration to hire millions of people to build up our nation’s rapidly deteriorating infrastructure;

        7. Refuses to commit to do everything possible to rid our government and electoral system of the corrupting influence of money;

        8. Refuses to join the rest of the industrialized world in providing a health care system that costs much less, produces far better medical outcomes, and is available to everyone.

        THERE IS MUCH MORE, of course. But the above list of pathetic policy is a relatively noncontroversial list that is much more than sufficient to show Obama to be an authoritarian, pro-war, pro-1% over the 99%. He’s a disgrace to the people of this nation.

    Everyone seems to have forgotten all of the two bills that Paul Ryan had passed in the thirteen years that he is as a big Washington insider.The first was a post office being renamed and the other one I forget what that was.I will have to get back to you on that one Joe.Wall Street wanted to hold a ticker tape parade on this VP pick and anyone can see why.For instance Mutt Rummy would pay zero taxes on his foreign investments and the middle class would pay $3500 per family more to cover the loss of such tax reductions for the rich.

    • JUKEBOX

      That tax increase will run the government for 2 to 3 weeks. WOW that’s powerful!

  • Deerinwater

    The Ryan choice, pleases me greatly, but not for the same reasons. Ryan is a brown nose GOP pup and I look forward to exposing him for what he is. Mitt could not have made a better selection and once again the GOP has shown us it’s disconnect with most Americans.

  • Karolyn

    Choosing Ryan insures that liberals will harden any resolve to keep Romney out and also might serve to energize those who are currently feeling that there is no difference to voting for Obama rather than sit it out.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

      There is a big difference Karolyn. Romney actually is business saavy, and knows what it takes to get things going. He knows how to manage, as he did the Salt Lake City Olympics. Obama knows neither, he just says what they tell him to say, and reads the teleprompter and calls it a day. He never had a plan, and he still has no plan, except to still blame Bush. Have you heard his new commercials? He is still pointing fingers. Its unbelievable. Still blaming others. How can you do that, when you have spent more money and put us more in debt than any president in history, and youve nothing to show for it, but to blame others? Bush took over a bad recession from Clinton, and you never once heard him get on the shoe box and point fingers and say “look what a mess Billy left us”. He went to work, everything was good, until the last two years when we all knew he couldnt run for re-election, and all business and world knew what was coming, and they tightened their belts because the tax monsters were coming, and they still want to raise taxes and attack the successful business’s and demonize them, while propping up failing business’s. You watch, within two years of Romney/Ryan, the economy will be booming. Business will heavily invest because they know for the next 4 years their success isnt going to be demonized and attacked. Its all true, just look at it and see it.

    • DavidL

      I agree with you, Karolyn. Also,independents do not like Ryan very much. That is where the election will be won or lost. Not among the extreme right base.Wait until the details of Ryan’s budget are known to the seniors in the tee party movement.

      p.s. What a surprise, Romney is already changing his views of the Ryan budget, “I support the Ryan budget”, to now moving away from it saying “I have a budget plan of my own.” Romney is not a conservative and cannot be trusted. He is a “severe” con-man!

      • Deerinwater

        I suspect Ryan was thrust on Mitt by party leadership. While I believe neither the GOP or Mitt sympathies lies the American people but Wall Street Bankers and Investment traders in mush the same way Tea Party activist do. They like to call themselves “average Americans” while they enjoyed the zenith of the American Dream and invested their good fortune in “instrument” designed to encourage labor to be an accomplice in the crime of Wall Street, where conflict of interest and insider trading is celebrated and common place. ~ As long as they see themselves as “Winning” they don’t care and would sell the Grandmothers teeth if it served their purpose.

      • always

        What a typical joke of people mocking the tea party saying they are extreme right. ANYTHING against the demonrats ideology is extreme. Hell they even try to blame the tea party for all the shooting that happen without any facts to back it up. The demonrats are the true hate speech people and spew their lies every chance they get. The demonrats sure like the occupy wall street losers don’t they? BHO, pelosi, reid and the rest of the mentally challenge demonrats supported the hate the occupy wall street losers stood for. See the demonrats are hateful towards our military and are the ones that spit on our soldiers that came back from vietnam remember. They are the ones that supported slavery, history backs this up. They are the ones that want people to be enslaved by government, like welfare, food stamps, housing, abortions, illegal voter fraud etc. Holder sues Fl to stop them from weeding out voter fraud. The BHO loser administration wanted to have Holder do this because this is exactly how the demonrats get elected. The demonrats would like to tell the lost sheep that this would disenfranchise the poor. In reality they the demonrats don’t want to tell the truth.Everyone knows that has half a brain, that you have to show identification to cash a check, buy a car, rent, get a loan, purchase alcohol, cigarettes and everything else you can think of.

      • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

        35 years ago, liberals ran the street screaming “global cooling! global cooling”! Today they scream global warming. This is a classic example of the flip-flop mind of a liberal.
        It used to be aerosol cans that were evil, now it is the oil companies that are evil.

        Gay marriage, John Kerry is a classic example of this, during the 2004 Presidential campaign John Kerry said he was for gay marriage in Massachusetts and then when he campaigned in Missouri he said he was against gay marriage.

        Many liberals voted for the Iraqi war, and then railed against it. Voting down bills for body armor and funding to train Iraqis to take over for US Troops. Now they just have a plan of “cut and run”.

        As a liberal, you can always blame your decisions on conservatives because they lied to you or forced you to vote for something you didn’t want to vote for in the first place.

        Learn the dialectic and become a liberal, through liberal-speak! Often confused with Ebonics or Jive. Think Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, or anyone else that tends to use words with excess syllables. Practice aloud–I say, “How are you?”–you say, “Extra-orda-nin-tat-ious!”

        Or, I say, “How do you feel about mandatory affirmative action minority interviewing requirements?”–you say, “Abso-ma-lutely, affirmable, as an accidental alibi fortituously found by the hooker behind the crack-pipe!” Presentation and panache is what liberal sheep of many colours seek.

        Furthermore, you must take all efforts to avoid being tied down to a singular position. Life is multi-faceted, so every issue may have new considerations, so you must be able to explain why, for example, it is permissible to cheat on one’s wife, but then run a negative campaign (the next term) exposing one’s opponent for marital infidelity.

        When perfected, you can be constantly inconsistent like the Democratic Party, not inconsistently inconsistent like John Kerry. This constant inconsistency, called “liberal flip-flopping”, may allow your party to win the Presidential election!

  • Brad

    wow that is terrible Doc. Just immagine what the dumbocrats would have spent if it were not for a republican congress. We would of had to buy more print presses because bernanke would have burned up the present machines, probably had to run another line to China because they wearn the wire out.

    • Joseph Knight

      That Republican congress outspent the Democrats they replaced!

      • always

        Another lie spews from the truth. 1st I’m not happy that the republicans bailed out wall street or spent like the demonrats have done for centuries. But the demonrats fail to understand that the republicans will fight for our nation and other nations that kill their people. The demonrats fail to understand that if we didn’t have a strong military we would be just like all the other nations that are weak and become submissive to government dictating what the people rights are. See here in America the Constitution and the bill of rights both are based on the principle the we the people get our rights from God not government period. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness all come from God not man or government. The demonrats fail to understand that we only have freedom because our service people sacrificed themselves for our freedom. Freedom isn’t free and has cost many lives for our freedom.

      • DaveH

        Always says — “The demonrats fail to understand that we only have freedom because our service people sacrificed themselves for our freedom. Freedom isn’t free and has cost many lives for our freedom”.
        I’m certainly not supporting Democrats, but what kind of mental lapse does it take to support the taking of guns and other rights, including many lives, of citizens in foreign countries by our military, and then think that they’re doing it for OUR Freedom? Are you so naive, always, that you believe those same military people will hesitate a moment to do the same to our citizens when they get their orders?
        So we now have a combination of foreigners hating the US for its Imperialism, and a massive military force with abundant and deadly weapons manned by people who’ve been trained to take other peoples’ Freedom and Lives away, and some people actually believe that makes our Lives and Freedom safer? Pass the dramamine please.

  • Joseph Knight

    TERRIBLE civil liberties record – would touch him with the proverbial 10′ pole. The GOP now had a balanced ticket: Romney for further deterioration of the economy and Ryan for further erosion of due process and civil liberties.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

      Speaking of civil liberties, since you brought it up and all, what about the civil liberties of the unborn child in their mothers wombs that the democrats all think is ok to murder? And not only that, they now are funding this murder in third world countries, one of the first things Obama signed when he took office. Shouldnt they have civil liberties also? Im glad my mom didnt let them suck me out of her womb.

      • Karolyn

        If she had, your spirit would just have been born into a different body if it had chosen to anyway. Absolutely nothing wrong with death, be it a fetus or a fully developed human being. Death is just a transition. Long time no see, Beberoni.

      • nc

        Beberoni< what "liberties" did the innocent children God killed in Egypt have? The ones being carried by pregnant mothers He killed in the great flood? The ones He created in the womb and then killed before they were born? If He had wanted them to live would they not have lived? Him being "all powerful" and all of that? It's in the "book"!

        • always

          Well I couldn’t agree more about the demonrats doing this. They don’t want to send a sick pedophile or murderer to death that have committed a terrible crime, but they can murder an innocent child that never committed a crime and call it woman’s choice or woman’s health. What a joke.

        • Deerinwater

          That old song is getting old Jay~ Went did you do anything for someone that wasn’t there? Better then that , when did you ever do something for someone that was there?

      • David

        It’s strange to me that the people that want to deprive the right to life to the unborn are, in fact, enjoying their right to life! Maybe they should have been the ones deprived of their right to life and should have been aborted!

        • Deerinwater

          Tell us more about these unpersons you seem to know so well. And then while you are at it, you can tell us about these people that enjoy life so well ~ Is their joy greater then your joy? Besides the lofty nose bleed section of “JUDGE & JURY” where do you fit?

          • David

            They are only “un-persons” to prople like you! To people like me, they are human beings that deserve a right to live just as you have a right to live! It’s not their fault the person carrying them didn’t do enough to keep from getting pregnant and now doesn’t want them! There are plenty of people that would adopt a baby in a heartbeat! There is no need to commit murder!

          • Jeff

            I don’t believe you need to be an MD to diagnose David paranoid schizophrenic.

          • David

            You a baby killer too, Jeff? Doesn’t suprise me! Most lefties are baby killers!!

          • deerinwater

            I guess you know David, bearing false witness is a sin? Not to mention that the dispensing of harsh judgement guarantees you some harsh judgement headed your way by your own hand.

          • David

            False witness? You both admitted you are for the killing of the un-born!! By your logic of calling them un-persons, someone could come up with the bright idea that anyone under 18 years old is an “un-adult” and shouldn’t have the right to live based on that opinion! They could then take it to congress and if they could get enough votes, make it law, and send squads all over the country to kill everybody that is an “un-adult”. It wouldn’t matter that they are going to be an adult if allowed to keep growing and maturing! It’s the same with the un-born! They are human beings also, and if allowed to grow and mature, they will become older, walking, talking human beings! You people that beleive abortion is OK are the ones judging! You are judging whether or not a human being gets to live!

          • Deerinwater

            David , this is a what came first the chicken or egg issue. No answer is clear or certain.

            It’s offered up to simple people for the sole purpose of dividing them. People that are willing to believe that there is an clear answer.

            There is no such things the unborn unless you are willing to accept the notion of the living dead. Somewhere in the second or third trimester it’s very clear a being is in the making. Doctors are the ones to explain this. The word is fetus if I’m not mistaken.

            There no such thing as unpeople or unadult. ~ I was just playing you along.

            While I will admit I have taken more people out of this world then I brought into it, my heart has never into killing of anything.

            I admire your passion and position David, but you must understand, it’s only a political wedge issue that is being used with the sole purpose of dividing and not really about defenseless being in the process of being born.

      • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

        If the only thing that matters about abortion is the question of the woman’s rights, why do liberals care when life begins? Why do they keep insisting that life does not begin at conception, and that in fact, no one can be sure when it begins?

        The thought that life might actually begin when it begins makes them uncomfortable. That much is obvious. If it didn’t make them uncomfortable they wouldn’t keep talking about it.

        The other thing I don’t understand is why they keep insisting that very late term abortion, partial birth abortion, (or infanticide as I call it) only happens in cases where the mother’s life is at stake. Because clearly this can’t be true. If the woman absolutely, positively at the very moment of abortion must have the baby out of her or she’ll drop dead, okay. Take the baby out. But why do they have to kill it? Why is her health dependent on killing it? Obviously it isn’t. So why don’t the liberals just say what they mean? Why don’t they just say, “We don’t care if partial birth abortion kills a viable full term fetus for no good reason, it’s still the woman’s choice.”

        I think they have lingering doubts about their own position. I think they should be honest with themselves that maybe they don’t have it all figured out. But I don’t think liberals can be honest with themselves. Because I think the one hallmark of being a liberal is that you
        are never allowed to think for yourself. You always just have to go along with the liberal crowd because in your mind those are the cool people and what you want most of all is for them to like you.

        • Deerinwater

          Jay say; “Why do they keep insisting that life does not begin at conception, and that in fact, no one can be sure when it begins? The thought that life might actually begin when it begins makes them uncomfortable. That much is obvious. If it didn’t make them uncomfortable they wouldn’t keep talking about it. The other thing I don’t understand is why they keep insisting that very late term abortion, partial birth abortion, (or infanticide as I call it”.

          It’s not a matter of “insisting” anything on the part of progressives Jay, but of persons like yourself “insisting” that they “know” and expect agreement.

          If by chance a single life does happen to begin at conception how would one’s nationality be determined Jay?

          Life is everlasting, you have been told that, you have read that but do you understand the implications of it? There is a lot more going on in the Universe then just “human activity”. You are over estimating your very existence by sitting in constant judgement from such a tall throne of arrogance and lies.

          What makes other people feel uncomfortable Jay is to thinking there is people like yourself that believe that your business and your rights include invading another human being body! Not to mention the fact that your would be more then willing to employ government to do this bit of handy work for you.

          Jay , you are consumed and overwhelmed with your notions of Righteousness and Judgement and most people including me find it very unsettling to think anyone like yourself might be placed in positions of power and have dominion over others.

          You are walking the same path as Jim Jones and don’t seem to realize it.

          I was raise in what you seem to bath in Jay. I suffered though the toxic shame, the mindless, needless bul$hit all the years I was being raised ~ You are no secret to me. I’ve got family members just like you, I love them when they leave! As long as they stay inside their little bubble of reality, they flourish and do well, take them out in the real world and they can’t cope, there is just so much judgement to prescribe and so little time, they are overwhelmed.

        The best liberal to be is the one that is in the United States and white skinned. Over-reporting by the conservative shadow elements concludes that slaves were freed by Lincoln, a Republican. What those shadowy reports fail to mention is that Democrats opposed Lincoln’s measure overwhelmingly. In fact, 100% of white-skinned US registered Democrats and 3/4 of black-skinned US non-convicted felons (due to the Missouri Compromise) still oppose that dirty conservative tactic.

        Yet, the old Democratic Party represented the south and the Republicans represented the north. 87% of Analysts agree it is the same now. The Bush Administration employed more minorities than The Clinton Administration did and even promoted minorities to top level positions in government. This proves that Democrats are more racist than Republicans.

        Since World War II, the liberal party in the United States has diligently enlightened the poverty-stricken class to think that a higher minimum wage will result in an increased standard of living. This is like using a carrot to ensure a mule will plow a field.

        No reputable economists could possibly agree with the conservative (read: Anti-Liberal) position that a higher minimum wage, decreases the standard of living for those earning the minimum wage by increasing the cost of basic goods and services. Like anyone would believe that increasing the salary of employees will increase expenses of a corporation, forcing them to raise the costs of goods and services to compensate? Liberal accounting uses new math and states that raising expenses does not cut into profits if you found a few dummy corporations and list the expenses as investments and assets in the dummy corporations.

        The liberal view is that the person earning minimum wage should be put on a socialist program and live off of the government at a rate of $50,000USD a year in welfare that is funded by taxing people who make under $50,000USD a year at real jobs. Should any reputable economist attempt to disagree with this liberal economic theory, liberals worldwide are instructed to discredit him/her with photos of him or her having sex with someone or something. That is how demand-side economics i.e. socialism really works.

        Of course it is Liberals not Conservatives that lead the way with racism in modern times and have formed many racist opinions and forced Black people into an underclass that lives in a Ghetto. George W. Bush for example, employed more minorities in the White House than Bill Clinton did.

        A Liberal is more likely to join the KKK than a Conservative. So they hide it by supporting Reverse Discrimination with abortion, gay marriage and letting one group of people get have lower grades than the other, to hide the fact that they are all racist crackers. When asked if Barack Obama can become US President Hillary Clinton was quoted as saying “He can’t win, he’s black he’s black!” Ms. Clinton reportedly took back her comments after viewing the now-famous “He’s White!” campaign commercials that all reputable political scientists agree were responsible for the Obama victory in ’08.

        They really hate black people and want them to be poor, so they can vote for Liberals to keep them poor with promises of ending poverty, which they never do because they hate poor people and use them as pawns in their political games of chess. Conservatives like Bill Cosby tell poor black people to get an education, stay in school, don’t do drugs, and make themselves rich instead of some other people and buy a house in a county out of the ghetto. But Liberals counter this and tell black people to drop out of school, join
        gangs, do drugs, steal from others and stay in the ghetto.

          And for the record Jay, ~ It was the conservative Dixiecrat’s that took their racial bias with them and jumped party lines over to the GOP that accounts for much of today’s polarizing politics. LOL! they are yours now! They are “conservatives” much like myself but of a different bent.

          This shifting of labels is confusing I know ~ good luck with your efforts in comprehending it, much less explaining it.

          And for the record, more money in your hand has the penitential to improve anyone’s quality of life , be rich or poor. For if it were not so , the statement that “tax increases would hurt the economy” would have no merit or foundation.

    Apparently, Doc Sarvis has not moved on..he is stuck in time………talkin’ about obama’s transparency……….yes, he is transparent in that he has enough balls to tell your face of the hardships he’s gonna pass on to you, your kids and grandkids……..of course, he doesn’t have to worry ’cause by electing him he is set for life……
    last night I watched a World War 2 movie called “The Couple” in where a Nazi “Mine Furor” ( mispelled on purpose ) forced a Jewish businessman to sign over all his belongings ie castle, businessess etc,,,,,it remineded me of obama and his men trying to take a lot away from those who worked hard to accumulate wealth……..
    oh, to get back on target, I feel that Ryan is the correct choice for this election………..Let’s get real hope back in America……..we don’t need to have the ego-trip maniac continue to stay in power…….

  • Sirian

    The liberal comedy show has spun into full swing for sure. Democrats and the rest of the Liberals, on any level thereof, have pounced so decisively, brutally on Ryan. HA, what a joke, the lies run forth from all directions on almost a Biblical scale. Was this really not expected? They are so outrageously *issed, furiously angry, spitting white hot fireballs all over the place. Over what? A VP candidate? And Ryan is supposedly worse than their own shining Biden? LOL!!! They’ve been struggling all their lives for that wondrous “pie in the sky” utopia and now, supposedly, it is threatened beyond compare. LOL!!! Stay tuned folks, the show is going to get better and better!!

      Lets face it the demonrats are scared. They always come out of the woodwork when they feel threatened of the truth coming out. They will continue to lie and spew their hate speech to all the lost blind sheep that would vote for this muslim dictator that isn’t even American born citizen. Hell this loser won’t even turn over his transcripts from college. He’s afraid we the people would find the truth about him not being an American and was given special treatment to attend college free of charge because him being a foreign exchange student. How else would he be able to go to these very expensive colleges? Why has he spent millions keeping his records sealed unless he has something serious to hide?

      • Sirian

        always,
        You’ve made several points that the most of us are aware of. And yes, there probably is a very high probability of there being more destructive info held within his college admission records than the majority are even speculating about. As usual, it is tossed aside and laughed at. Even so, I wouldn’t hold my breath, they will go to any extreme to prevent that from ever occurring. So, the questions pertaining to his true identity remain. As long as the MSM and a broad variety of other wonted associates continue to carry his false persona, we will never know the factual truth.

    Typical tards the loser mentally challanged demorats are. They have all been brain washed in believing that big gov is the answer. When in fact the government is the problem. The demonrat controlled senate has NEVER passed anything of the 200 bills that the house passed and has sent to them. The demonrats didn’t even vote for their missiah bho so called budget. The demonrats have no plan other than to further destroy this nation financially, morally, constitutionally. They are all liars, despicable,hate spewing, non christian, satin loving morons. Remember they are the ones who passed obama care against the will of the people. Obama has destroyed this nations relationship with our allies, appease our enemies, bows to dictators and saudi kings. The dictator in cheif has illegally used his so call executive privilege to go around the laws and try to make his own laws. Example of this ordering the INS not to deport the illegals. This azz hole bho took an oath to defend all laws and our Constitution. I can’t for the life of me, understand how anyone would support this loser. Look at all the secrets that were leaked from this white house putting our military, allies, our nation in danger. Look at our national debt bho and the demonrats have cost ed the American taxpayer. BHO has added to our debt another 6 trillion dollars in 4 years more than all presidents in history combined. This administration blames the weather, atm machines, other countries, republicans, bush, and everything else for their FAILED POLICIES.

    • Action not Words

      TIME TO WAKE UP!!! Blake’s view is the most accurate.Our government is the problem. Not the demonrats or the rebukagains. THE GOVERNMENT. The only thing they seem to agree upon is further restricting our rights and slowly turning America into a police state. As constituents of this government we should be demanding the change or removal of the corrupt elements of todays governing process; Special interest groups, campaign contributions,lobbying,off shore acounts for anyone should be illegal(my opinion), tax evasion,extortion……. All of this exist in both parties. But we are gonna keep coming here day after day to beat a dead horse about how much better one party is from another???? I don’t see the better of two EVILS and witnessing the useless bantor between AMERICANS I don’t ever see any CHANGE either!!!

  • John

    Ryan is a VICE presidental nominee. He will have NO power and NO authority. His only real value beyond fund raising and politicing is stepping in to be president IF Romney wins and then can’t do his job. The bump in popularity Romney MAY get with picking Ryan will fade quickly. Romney is still Romney.

    • Nadzieja Batki

      With Romney naming Ryan as VP, upon seeing them both on the platform, the first thought was which of them will be the president irrespective of Romney being elected as President and Ryan the VP.

    • Pathfinder

      Romney may be Romney but Obama is still Obama. And John, you are coming up very short in your analysis. Ryan adds dynamics to Romney’s campaign. As for the VP having no power, do not sell a guy like Ryan short. There are two considerations; Domestic and Foreign. Smart presidents engage VP’s and who better to head up the domestic side (budgets spending and Obama care) than Ryan. Do not use Byden as the VP model. BOB and Byden are to far apart on ideology for Byden to do anything but parrot the party line and put his foot in his mouth. Ryan is not just a “good choice”; he is an excellent choice

    • deerinwater

      Seeing Mitt & Ryan made me think, “Yep! that’s GOP alright!” ~ They used Ryan as butt boy in an attempt to move the center farther to the right and have rewarded him for living through the experience. The disconnect between these two men and the average American voter is a Grand Canyon that require filling with money if they have any hopes of buying this election.

      • David

    we have a guy in the white we know can’t do the job, so why worry, the new guy has a proven record, barry has proved he can’t, he’s great at organizing the welfare recipients, when you look at the true picture, barry does nothing , “nothing” but, fly around the country between golf trips and vacations to make a campaign speech thru a teleprompter.
    by electing romney we will get rid of the people pulling barrys strings, there’s where the real problem is, barry is nothing but a puppet.

      So how does O get out of his Master Valerie Jarrets way, the bathroom.

    Considering Robamney’s stand on NDAA, the Patriot Act, TARP bailouts, Robamneycare, his flip flopping on Right to life, gun control, gay marriage…and the list goes on…I can’t seem to find any differences between him and Obama…other than tan lines.
    Now, Robamney has added Paul Ryan to the mix as his VP choice…a man who actually likes the same policies

    Ryan is more of the same. Yawn.

    Paul Ryan on Bailouts and Government Stimuli
    -Voted YES on TARP (2008)
    -Voted YES on Economic Stimulus HR 5140 (2008)
    -Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler. (Dec 2008)
    -Voted YES on $192B additional anti-recession stimulus spending. (Jul 2009)

    Paul Ryan on Entitlement Programs
    -Voted YES on limited prescription drug benefit for Medicare recipients. (Nov 2003)

    -Voted YES on providing $70 million for Section 8 Housing vouchers. (Jun 2006)
    -Voted YES on extending unemployment benefits from 39 weeks to 59 weeks. (Oct 2008)
    -Voted YES on Head Start Act (2007)

    Paul Ryan on Education
    -Voted YES on No Child Left Behind Act (2001)

    Paul Ryan on Civil Liberties
    -Voted YES on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005)
    -Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent. (Dec 2005)
    -Voted YES on allowing electronic surveillance without a warrant. (Sep 2006)

    Paul Ryan on War and Intervention Abroad
    -Voted YES on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
    -Voted YES on emergency $78B for war in Iraq & Afghanistan. (Apr 2003)
    -Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
    -Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)

    Romney has also released a new campaign ad extolling religous freedoms in order to win over the “religous right”….The last time I checked..none of these policies promote freedom, religous values or follow the US Constitution…actually, the policies Romney ,Ryan and Obama seem to like…are diametrically opposed to all of those values.
    I am sorry if no one here likes what am saying, but I cannot in good conscience vote for any of these candidates…and I will continue to support the only candidate worthy of my vote…Ron Paul.
    I care not about the two party’s, as they have both lost thier way and are dragging the American people down the the wrong path kicking and screaming (at least some of us are).
    Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity was “doing the same thing over and over…while expecting a different outcome”…it won’t happen.
    I am voting to take our country in a new direction…smaller, less intrusive government, Constitutional values and the rule of law. I wish to leave a better America for my decendants than what has been left to me.
    I am casting my vote for a better America.
    I am casting aside the insanity and voting for principle, moral integrity and my conscience!
    I am casting my vote for Ron Paul 2012! Some things are not negotiable!
    Ron Paul/ Andrew Napolitano 2012!
    In it to win it!

        The sad thing is, 8 out of 10 of the Romulans will swear that they don’t listen or buy into the media hype….while in reality, that is exactly what they a doing.
        They are too busy to actually vett the candidates and rely soley on the media to force feed them with small doses of “soundbites” of who they need to vote for.
        Thank you for being one of the few to do your due dilligence in vetting the candidates and for having the fortitude to vote your convictions.
        Unfortunately, I believe we are still in the minority and that the loss of our sovereignty and freedon are looming just around the corner.
        I must wonder if the rest of these sheep will wake up after this happens…or will they continue in blissful slumber… until the noose is stretched tight around thier necks?

      Who is the worst of the two evils???
      Obamas extreme leftist ideology, his health care law, his nefarious background, (including funding by the puppet master Geo Soros, associates like Ayres, Axelrod The Emanuales, the “God damn America” reverend Wright , and the leftist czars), his deceitful rhetoric, his divisiveness, his insane spending, his meteoric rise to the president with zero experience are all reasons to fear this man.
      Romney/ Ryan may not be the best choice, but I fear that a vote for BOB will yield another 4 years of BOB and if he wins the house and senate, he is free follow his agenda … the destruction of America.

        Pathfinder ,

        So your argument is that if one candidate will destroy our nation a couple of months slower than the other candidate, we should vote for the slower of destroyers?…How lame. There is no lesser of two evils…they are both simply..EVIL. Got it?

        If you vote for Romney or Obama, you will be sorely dissapointed…guaranteed.

        You Write:
        “Unfortunately, a vote for Paul is a vote for OBAMA”

        Is there no end to your ignorance and like of thought?

        A vote for Ron Paul…is a vote for …Ron Paul…and therefore, a vote against both Romney and Obama.

        If Obama wins, it will not be because We voted for Ron Paul. It will be because of limited thinkers (like you) who care not for thier nation, thier freedoms or thier liberties.
        While those of us voting for Ron Paul will not be happy with an Obama win…will will blame the nation’s woes and destuction on folks like you….who are voting “for the lesser of two evils”…remember…you still voted for evil…and you will get what you’ve asked for.

        The differnce between people like us and Pathfinders is that we talk about our candidtate of choice, thier virtues and why we are voting for them..while people like Pathfinder only seem to be “casting a ballot” for someone…because they are against someone else and not because they believe in the candidate they are casting a ballot for. So far, Ron Paul is still in the race as a Republican and as such..still represents the RNC/GOP just as much as Romney does. As for his “Third Party” rant, does Pathfinder and folks like him…not understand that third party candidates don’t win…because folks like him have no values or morals of thier own and simply follow the herd over the cliff…without a second thought? Ryan is a problem. He has received or benefitted from a government check every month of his life since he was 16 years old. Ryan is part of the political class / part of the problem. Do not under estimate your opponent, Biden could win a debate against this youthful, public school programmed potential vice presidential candidate should Romney get nominated. The “Christian” vote is up for grabs. If you look at how these candidates classify themselves: Obama “Christian,” Romney “Mormon / non Christian (a different Jesus – brother of Satan, Ryan “Roman Catholic.” All that said both the Elephant and the Donkey parties are shades of the same thing. Without truth there is no free press. In the last 30 years we went from about 50 legitimate press entities controlled by 40 people to only about 5 Press entities controlled by 5 people. That is why we did not have a choice, the programmed press blocked our choice by declaring some “unelectable” while party operatives in their closed primaries manipulated the outcomes. It took 3 months before Iowa admitted that Ron Paul won. Good luck with the sheeple “choices that remain. Throw them all out.

        Rhonda Reichel,

        I am hoping that in the event that the RNC and GOP turn thier backs on Ron Paul at the convention, that the Ron Paul delegates have the testicular fortitude to stand up, turn thier backs ( on National TV) on both the RNC and the GOP and refuse to vote. Without Ron Paul supporters, they cannot nominate Romney and they certainly cannot hope to win the White House in November. Ron Paul supporters will not set aside thier values or thier personal convictions… “for the party”. We will not submit! It is time for the RNC/GOP to have a real discussion with us..or they will lose the WH and the Nation ( although I sometimes wonder if that is what they are counting on, the loss of our sovereignty).

        Ron Paul/ Andrew Napolitano 2012!

    As I read through the comments posted here, I find myself amused at the arguements going on between republicans and democrats as to how your respective parties have the answers to the problems of our nation! I have been involved in the political process for 30 years and in that 30 years I have watched government get bigger, rights and freedoms eroded, the debt get larger and greater alliances with the U.N.! Guess what? It happened under republican as well as democrat administrations! Except for a handful of comments, it’s plain to see most of you are stuck in your republican and democrat boxes and don’t realise that both parties are just two sides of the same coin! Progressives in both parties are leading us into bankruptcy and the crash of the dollar and directly into a world currency! When this happens, we will be forced to follow U.N. mandates, which will eventually evolve into participation in a world governing body! The only way to stop this from happening, is to stop voting for republicrats and start vetting Constitutional party and Libertarian party candidates for the presidency and congress! These parties want to get our nation back to its Constitutional roots which will end the federal reserve and stop the theft of our wealth, repeal all unconstitutional legislation to return our rights, liberties, and control back to the people where it belongs! The U.N. would be told to take a hike and get out of our business! The military would be for our defense and would no longer be the worlds military! Trade agreements would be made with nations only as long as it is beneficial to the U.S.! Our currency would be backed by gold and silver and/or other commodities so that currency could not be printed out of thin air! There would be no personal income tax, which would be possible if the government is forced to operate within its means, and taxes would be levied on corporations!

    When, or if, the nation gets back to the Constitution, we will again be a strong and prosperous, free people! If we continue to vote for republicrats, I assure you, things will only get worse not better!

    • Honest Al

      I agree with your prospective view that returning to the constitution is the answer. There exists way too many obstacles with repeated false flag intrusions and the dumbing down of both our kids and the couch potato crowd taking our political arena as a sport. The left – right paradigm is working and we, the people are losing our shorts in the process.

      • David

        I agree! I just wish that people would take a long step back away from the trees so that they could see the forrest! The divide and conquer strategy of the progressive movement in our government will continue to work as long as people cling to their our party against their party attitudes! Until they wake out of their stupor and see the truth and unite against progressives, I don’t see things getting better any time soon!

      • David

        angel, you need to do some research and go all the way back to the civil war! Look up the act of 1871 and up to today and you will learn! They are on the same page and have been for decades! The things I listed in the last 30 years is proof of that! when republicans had a majority and a republican president, did you see any repeals of bad legislation? No! Just a continuation of the bad legislation with more liberty robbing legislation and more spending and money printing! Things continues to get worse regardless of who is in office!!

        angelwannabe,

        From your tone, I am gathering that your name is a misnomer? It is obvious that you will still be a “wannabe” when you meet your maker. Your actions and stances do not fall in sync with the name. Always remember…actions, not words (although you seem to lack both) will get you through the pearly gates. You are what I refer to as the typical Christian..you say one thing and apparently ..practice another.
        As for the “Best Wishes”, yes it is a lesson in civility that I have learned from Mr. Livingston….obviously a lesson that you have yet to learn.

        You write:
        “I don’t care who gets in there, each one has a skelton somewhere in there personal and/or political past that someone doesn’t like, and you can bet your azz__somone will dig it up!”

        Therein lies the problem…you really don’t care and you have stated that fact…loud and clear.
        Please find any dirt on Ron Paul and give it to us…and please, do not give us your opinion…bring verifiable facts to support your assertions. Failing to bring those verifiable facts show your lack of knowledge and inability to actually do the work.Your opinion, to use your quote)”don’t mean a damn thing thing to me_-EACH one of those opinions can be manipulated to reflect ANY side of the isle”.
        So, now the ball is in your court..bring facts…or continue to show us your ignorance and lack of fortitude.

        “Hmmm Got our panties in a bunch”….yes apparently you do have…as shown in your posts and tone…Sorry for your luck.

        In the future, you may wish to consider your tone when speaking to others…lest you reap what you sow. I will not resort to your tactics of being a condecending arse…but others here and elswhere may not be so kind in regards to your ill mannered rants.

      • Deerinwater

        I think that is Angel’s idea of persuasiveness writing. Just to assume that everyone is sorry and laden with sin and in need of a good “Come to Jesus Meeting” that they have been avoiding and pulling off.

        It’s very comical really, considering notions of the true single God has been around for centuries to offer a cure to all that ills mankind and today we represent the results.

        Not to imply it does not work but to underscore the fact that man will kill his fellow man over the difference of opinion held about God and call himself righteous in the process.

    We will look back on this past Saturday as the day Mitt Romney drove his campaign into the ditch, untethered and removed his dog from the roof, handed his keys to President Obama, and cried, “I am WAY to plastered to drive this wreck, and I don’t even drink…”

    Thanks for picking Paul Ryan, Mitt—or, as GOP Chairman Rinse Pubis must have said, “Ooops….there goes the senior vote…”

  • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing Jay

    Let’s just look at history, shall we? World War I, Korea, Vietnam — all bloodbaths carried out by Democrats, by progressive heroes Woodrow Wilson, Harry Truman and LBJ (with an assist from JFK). By contrast, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Rethuglican, campaigned on ending a war — and actually did it. So did the bastard Richard Nixon, albeit belatedly.

    “I figured out the other day,” former Republican Senator Bob Dole remarked during a 1976 debate, “if we added up the killed and wounded in Democrat wars in this century, it would be about 1.6 million Americans, enough to fill the city of Detroit.” Dole was widely criticized for his remarks, but he was on to something: Democrats — liberals — love themselves a good freedom bombing, especially when cloaked in Kiplingesque humanitarianism.

    “I remember when I was a teenager reading something from the Republican National Committee that said that Democrats start wars, Republicans end them,” Congressman John Duncan, a Republican from Tennessee, told me in a 2007 interview. The point isn’t that Republicans are reliable carriers of the antiwar flag, but rather that conservative and liberal politicians alike are fond of embracing antiwar rhetoric — when out of power; we know what they do when their fingers are the ones on the trigger.

    As for that bit about “national chauvinism” being more or less a conservative-only thing? One need only look to Obama’s recent assertion, while justifying an illegal war, that “[s]ome nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different.” If that ain’t chauvinism, what is?

    Yes, yes, of course the Republicans are awful. And no, you shouldn’t place much faith in conservative pacificism. But here’s the thing: if you care about peace, you shouldn’t be inclined to trust any politician, even if they talk pretty and namedrop FDR. Peace isn’t a part of what politicians do once in power, regardless of which party or movement to which they claim allegiance.

    Instead of self-serving myth-making, liberal bloggers would do well to turn their attention to their own movement’s embrace of American exceptionalism, which is marginally more sophisticated than the competition’s but no less deadly.

    • Honest Al

      Well written article jay. A most agreeable view on how both sides keep the Military industrial complex alive. Bravo! great post!

  • Pathfinder

    You are correct when feel frustration over social security described as an “entitlement” . Everyone who pays, or will pay, into the system should share your sentiment .
    The USA is now so full of entitlements that one must and should specify “earned entitlement” or “unearned entitlement’ . Medicare and Social security are funded by forced contributions and therefore “earned” (and taxable) to participants whereas “unearned entitlements” are pure handouts. Government speak intentionally does not make the distinction for obvious reasons.

  • Norm

    The former director of the Office of Management and Budget for the Reagan administration, David Stockman, blasted Paul Ryan’s budget plan in a New York Times op-ed.
    Stockman called the budget an “empty conservative sermon” and “fairy tale” and says it will “do nothing to reverse the nation’s economic decline and arrest its fiscal collapse.”
    Stockman also rails against the new “Wall Street-coddling” bailout Republicans like Ryan, who stand by and let the Federal Reserve fix interest rates, encourage speculators, crush savers, encourage overconsumption, and punish thrift.
    Specifically, Stockman observes, Ryan’s “phony” budget plan:
    a) Maintains Defense spending that is nearly twice the $400 billion (adjusted for today’s dollars) that General Eisenhower spent in the 1960s
    b) Shreds the safety net provided by $100 billion in food stamps and $300 billion in Medicaid
    c) Does not cut one dime from Medicare or Social Security for another decade
    d) Includes no serious plan to create jobs
    e) Radically cuts taxes on the richest Americans while eliminating tax breaks that mostly help the middle class
    f) Fails to even consider a “value-added sales tax,” which is the only way the country can begin to climb out of its budget hole
    In short, Stockman says, Ryan’s plan is “devoid of credible math or hard policy choices.”
    Harsh words coming from a fellow Republican. But, then, today’s Republican party doesn’t look much like it did in Stockman and Reagan’s day.

  • SJJolly

    Romney is playing with fire, picking Ryan. This pick will solidify Republican Right support for Romney, but risks alienating the Republican center and left. And, should Romney – Ryan win, and Tea Party Republicans take both houses of Congress, Romney may well find himself being impeached, by Republicans, in order to replace him with a true severely conservative. (When fanatics are in control, **nothing** is out of bounds)

      SJJolly, ~ I don’t think Mitt & the GOP will find enough money to put this off regardless, and I fail to see why the Tea Party would embrace Ryan if anyone would take the time to research his “Track Record” . They need too and should vote their conviction and vote Ron Paul, sending a strong message to GOP leadership that has lost it’s way.

    WASHINGTON D.C. (UPI) Investigators are examining a rash of “very large and curiously-timed” cash transfers between Bain Capital and Madoff Investment Securities in the days leading up to the collapse of M.I.S. in late 2008.

    In an apparent attempt to keep Madoff Investments afloat, Bain Capital may have facilitated the laundering of drug cartel monies and investigators plan to speak with a convicted drug dealer who hosted a fundraiser for for former Bain head Mitt Romney on Monday in Miami.

    yeah alex, and at this same time investigators are looking at your president and eric holder for white house leaks of security information and gun running in mexico. lot of people are still investigating barry for his fraudulent birth certificate and his actual rights to citizenship. the truth will eventually come out, he may have to move back to kenya when he gets out of jail. i can see moochella now carrying water bottles on her head, that would be fitting after all the luxury she has become used too, remember, if you dance you must pay the fiddler.

      ryan and romney were not my choice, however, looking at the alternative they stand head and shoulders higher than barry and stumbling joe,

        I believe that some people are capable of changing. But, it is something that comes with age and experiences in life. Example, Robert A. Heinlein (Science Fiction Writer), began as a socialist/ liberal in his early years, but became a staunch conservative in his later years and the change could be seen in his writing through the years. I myself was raised in an all democrat/liberal family in W.Va., however over the years, I have become a fiscal conservative and a social/liberal…AKA a Libertarian/Constitutionalist ( I am now the “white sheep” of the family).People can change given the right set of circumstances.

    angelwannabe, one thing for sure, our country is a different place than it was. i blame multiculturalism, the deliberate move to force this on our education system, i firmly believe this was a political ideology started back in the fifties, it took many years to implement this in the public schools. it divided and conquered. they first removed god from our schools, they deliberately destroyed the image of our hero’s in history, branding them as racist and bigots for the most part, todays school children have no idea of our history, only contemporary politics and rock stars, basketball players and so on. they are more concerned with ghetto music, than the classic’s. thanks to the media, this is all they see in the movies on tv. drugs, sex and murder. we have small children listening to rock music instead of out playing or doing anything constructive. they idolize sport figures and rock musicians, who for the most part are a poor representative of an upstanding person.
    you have to look no further than the civil rights act of 1964, this didn’t help the blacks it destroyed the white society, the aclu and southern poverty law center are the culprits, the democratic party has been engulfed by a marxist ideology and you have to look no further than who runs this administration. they are the people who invented barry soetoro, they are his spoken words. they rule by the teleprompter. whether there is a god and a son of god i do not know, i do know, i like america better the way it was. my faith gets weak at times when i see what is happening . i do believe unless we abide by the word of god we are not going to make it, and now it depends on which god will rule, the christian god, the zionist god of abraham or the muslim god. that is what the fight is all about.
    zionism, muslim or christianity. there will be no peace until we choose who’s law we obey in this country. you see the middle east has never had peace, our country grew strong and rich under the christian god.

    • Jeff

      Chuck:

      I know you’re due for “therapy” so I won’t keep you long. So, your conception of God was NOT in favor of the 1964 Civil Rights Act? And which athletes and entertainers are permissible for kids to look up to? Mickey Mantle? Babe Ruth? What about Willie Mays? Pat Boone, I’m sure you liked him. What about Chuck Berry? A little too dark? Elvis?

      Are you an old bigot or just old? Wait, I know the answer to that. The ACLU and SCLC didn’t need to call guys like you and Bull Connor bigots; your actions and words do it all by themselves. But, it’s even beyond bigotry. Yes, the world was a better place 30 years ago. Not in any objective sense, but for us, yes. We were young then.

    The greatest problem our country is facing right now is within our Government. But sadly they will cut the poor people to the bone before they will cut one dime from their own pockets! Government has been giving themselves whatever thay want at the expense of the taxpayers and now that that is not enough for them they are now cutting the benefits from the poor. I was in the upper middle class but now I have been cut to just a few dollars above poverty! AND I AM NOT ALONE! Government is not interested in fixing that unless they can get more out of it than we do.
    I have paid thousands of dollars and two years to bring my wife here from the Philippines and stil she does not have her visa to go here, BUT OUR PRESIDENT JUST GAVE MILLIONS OF ILLEGALS A FREE RIDE TO BE HERE! WHAT IS WITH THAT? HOW IS THAT FAIR? HOW IS THAT RIGHT? HOW DOES THAT HELP ME????

    Ben, usually I find your opinion insightful and valuable. That is why I am completely perplexed that you would find Ryan’s selection “pandering” to the youth, libertarian and Tea Party. Other than being intelligent and significantly better at math than most of his fellow establishment Republican statists, he remains an establishment Republican statist. I suspect you are well aware of his record and know that to be true. Why are you pushing this ridiculous effrontery? I get the same propaganda from the main stream media.

  • Brazzos

    Ryan will not become VP. The Catholic church and God himself will strike Paul Ryan down. The voters, not the Flea, oops, Tea pary will make the correct choice.

    So Romney dose not know what he is doing – - Boy – did the media, leading democrats and talking heads get their go-nads squeezed. They completely missed how clever a pick Paul Ryan was. This is how this guy made over $200,000,000.00 – He’s an expert at laying out strategies. Romney can predict his percentages of the outcome he wants. And in this case – How absolute obnoxious the Liberals would make themselves look. He could not have bought a political ad with this much punch. Plus it’s still ongoing, the liberals can’t keep their mouth shut. They keep getting back up and getting whacked down again.

    LOVE the finger pointing! Never forget that this is a republic. We the people voted for these IDIOTS. Republicrat or Democan makes little difference. Start by getting educated and make your voices heard. Research! Personally i recommend 4 things: 1 end the Fed (bankers in charge of printing money, how about Michael Moore does,….HELL’S KITCHEN?) 2.Flat tax (people care if it is their money) 3.Repeal 17th amendment to the Constitution. (reduces unfunded mandates and re-balances back to States power) 4.Challenge current Misinterpretation of the 14th amendment (Birthright citizenship)……..”and subject to it’s laws”……doubtful after Obama’s exec order! Don’t blame me…I voted Ron Paul!!!!

    Paul Ryan is a drill baby drill kook ! Why should we continue the waste of our crude and coal to create jobs . Why should we pass this on to future generations ?

    Are you kidding me? Facts? In a Ben Crystal lame attempt at humor? Billy Crystal he’s not. The entire article is one long opinion – and idiotic opinion at that. Ryan is an absolute right wing ideologue, totally in love with Ayn Rand until some of his moronic followers learned to read and discovered she was an atheist (and a Jewish atheist at that). He’s such a deficit hawk that he voted for every single budget-busting item on the W Menu – the tax cuts, the wars, the whole shebang. And never once did he suggest the Great Decider might have to pay for any of his programs. No, deficits don’t matter according to Darth Cheney and Ryan (unless a Democrat is president). The entire Repug Party is full of cr*p on the deficit, and the people are realizing it. They care about 2 things and only 2 things: deregulating business so the rich can get richer and lowering taxes so their rich sponsors pay less of their bloated incomes in taxes. If the deficit grows in the process, who cares? The rest – the social conservative nonsense – is there to fool the “What’s The Matter With Kansas” types to vote for them.

      You are just as deluded as the individual you are replying to! If you think there is a nickels worth of difference between the dems and the repubs, you are a fool! Both parties have been working against the middle class for over four decades now! Both parties want only two classes of people……Elite and poverty! Both parties want the U.S. to be ruled by a world government and are doing everything in their power to see that it happens! That’s why the dems are pushing for gun control and registration…just one step away from gun confiscation and then they can rule with an iron fist with no way for “we the people” to do anything about it! The American people need to get out of their mindset of defending one party against the other and realize both parties are two sides of the same coin!

        In someways I agree with you ~ but there is much more then a nickels worth of different between the two parties David.

        The GOP want to install a President that is openly sympathetic to a minority ( rich greedy blood suckers) and the Democrats want to install a President that has a majority appeal to laboring Americans.

        The DNC is currently in power and the RNC is not. ~

        The GOP is greatly divided while attempting to strike the posture that they are not.

        The DNC has always been greatly divided and has learned to respect these differences and deal with it without missing a step and tearing itself apart.

        That is much more then just a Nickels worth of difference, don’t you think?

        • David

          Nope! They both still want to dictate over the people and they both still push the nation toward a one world government! Any subtle differences will not mean anything when we lose our freedom and liberty!

            Well, name a government that does not expect dominion?

            ~ As far as a one world government ~ that might well come to pass but our grandchildren will die of old age first.

            As the world becomes smaller and smaller, our money system entwined , speed of information sharing , speed of travel, and common goals will unite us ~Between now and then expect slow growing pains.

          • Jeff

            One world government? Are you nuts? Even if you assume such a thing is inevitable in the future, it will take hundreds of years. In the Star Trek movies, it’s 300 years hence. That may be about right, but what action or inaction can we take now that will affect the process in any way? You might as well worry about the Sun imploding in 5 billion years.

            At the present time, we are in the mode of empires breaking up, forming more small countries. We are far more likely to see Texas as a separate country in the next 50 years than to see a one world government. No wonder you guys think Obama is a Socialist. Does the Sun set in the East in your world?

          I’m amazed that anyone can say such a thing so soon after the disastrous presidency of W. How can anyone say it wouldn’t have mattered if the Supreme Court had allowed the votes to be counted in Florida? Gore may or may not have been FDR, but it’s not possible he’d have been as bad as W. And he’d never have appointed John Roberts and Sam Alito to the Supreme Court to “call balls and strikes” from the right side of the plate for thirty plus years. If someone says it doesn’t matter who you vote for, smile politely, pat him on the head, and say “That’s right, sonny.”

      • Jeff

        Tell me how the election in 2000 didn’t make a difference. Tell me how Al Gore could possibly have been as bad as W. Even where there isn’t a huge ideological difference (e.g. Carter v. Ford), you’re getting an entire team plus the Supreme Court picks. We are stuck with the most ideologically rigid court in generations because of cynical picks by Republicans. The Clarence Thomas pick was as cynical a move as any President (other than Nixon perhaps) has ever made. A great Black jurist, Thurgood Marshall, retires, and Bush I says I’ll show them and appoints a Black man who has severed all his connections with the Black community and isn’t fit to tie Marshall’s shoes. I don’t believe Thomas could detect a racial motive unless it’s directed at him personally.

        If you think because Democrats are imperfect and have to beg for money from the same corporations as the Repugs that they are as bad, you’re not paying attention. The Democrats are influenced by big business because they hear from them constantly and get money from them. The Repugs are a wholly owned subsidiary of Big Tobacco, Big Pharma, Big Oil, Big Guns, etc. Boehner, the Bag Man, is nothing but a corporate lobbyist with a big gavel.

            I’m surprised how few knew that Al Gore has been groomed for the position of President for many years prior to being Vice. ~ That he didn’t command enough votes the results required a “photo finish” ~ was disappointing. While we learned something election results can be view as so close ~ the final decision left in the hands of a single judgeship.

            We don’t want and we don’t need anymore close elections but decisive victories. The voice must be loud enough for it to be respected and even then some people will find reason to refuse to listen.
