The Roots of Obama’s Rage by Dinesh D’Souza

July 7, 2011 by

America is currently being governed by a polygamist who abandoned each of his wives; a drunk who lost his legs in a car crash and later killed himself in a drunk-driving crash; a socialist who railed against the British empire and aspired for revolution to free his country from its shackles; a long-dead ghost, seldom seen in life by the son.  And that describes one man: Barack Obama Sr. For it is the senior Obama who shaped the anti-colonial views of the junior Obama currently occupying America’s White House.

That is the premise that forms Dinesh D’Souza’s book, The Roots of Obama’s Rage.

D’Souza writes that the senior Obama held the greatest influence of all others over the junior Obama, even though the current President saw him only briefly in his formative years — when the senior Obama visited the United States for a few days and made an appearance at young Obama’s school. Young Obama, 10 years old at the time and long separated from his father, had already developed a romantic image of his father standing up to colonial aggression that was only strengthened by the elder Obama’s visit to the school.

D’Souza calls it the defining moment of young Obama’s life. As Obama would later write in his book Dreams from My Father, “I realized, perhaps for the first time, how even in his absence his strong image had given me some bulwark on which to grow up, an image to live up to, or disappoint.”

The Roots of Obama’s Rage is essentially a deconstruction of Obama’s Dreams. For it is there that D’Souza believes Obama lays out his plan for bringing America down as punishment for its colonizing ways: not down in the sense of destroying America itself, but down in the sense of leveling the playing field for all the oppressed people the world over who have been subjected to colonization by a superpower.

Unfortunately for D’Souza, the passage of time since The Roots of Obama’s Rage was published in 2010 has proven part of D’Souza’s premise erroneous. Obama’s expansion of the War on Terror into Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia and Libya shows that he is not anti-colonial… at least not if he’s doing the colonizing.

But it does give us some glimpses into Obama’s plan for America and gives an explanation for some of Obama’s most curious actions: like why he continuously disses our friends (Great Britain, for example) while trying to cozy up to the Third World dictators around the world.

While I can’t put a date on it, one of my first reactions to the wunderkind in the W H was to push for an authoritative analysis of what’s between the guy’s ears. This book may be it.
I hope I’m wrong, but another book that might help explain what’s going on in the W H (and with our economy and in Congress and our fading status in the world) was written by a world-class pariah in Germany. Parallels can be spooky, and this parallel is far beyond spooky.

you are and the book is bunk. just another way to make money off the missinformed. BTW who the heck would be happy under colonial rule. i do not think the founding fathers were happy with it. If nothing else this man sure learned a lot from his father who hardly knew him. I wonder how they pulled that off. I thjink I will keep my money and wait for the TV movie.

Of course….everyone knows that Hollywood always represents the truth in the purest form. After all they are actors, right? There will be no embellismants, nor subtle mis-informities there. It will be (loosely)based on a true story like it always is.Starring Denzel Washington as Obama,Halle Berry as Michele, and Susan Sarandon as Nancy Pelosi(you have to have the token white woman in the movie these days).Oliver Stone will direct. That way,you know for sure that the accurate representation will be achieved.Co-starring Alex Baldwin as Chuck Schumer, and Tim Robbins as Harry Reid,Janeane Garofalo,as Valerie Jarret, and Samuel L.Jackson as Van Jones.A real blockbuster….haw!

      • Allan

Tim Robbins is a head taller than Harry Reid. How about a shorter Communist such as Sean Penn, Bill Maher, or Woody Allen (less make-up would be needed).

Please feel free to interject any Red Diaper Doper Baby which you feel commands attention to the cause comrade.Haw!..-CC.

I think Michael Moore should be the director and Oliver should be the producer. That way you can really double the liberal poop. A real blockbuster in the making. This is more original than anything Hollywood can come with within the past 25 years.

…parallels and similarities are always interesting to observe and contrast and how we give voice to our reality …we sift for the truth.

The parallels between Barrak Husein Obama (aka Barry Soeterro,et al)
and Adolf Hitler (aka Adolf Schiklgruuber/Heidler/Rothschild) begs this
observation: Obama is to Christianity as Hitler was to Judaism

    • s c

Here’s another spooky parallel, Dan. Hitler never blinked when it was time to kill babies. Bummer never blinks or balks at the idea.
And yet somehow, we’re supposed to hate Hitler and love Bummer. Can you say progressive reasoning and total surrender to the DUH?

    Amen, Dan. Hang ‘em high.

    Vote Ron Paul 2012!!!

    Dear Mr. D’Souza,

I think that you are VERY JEALOUS that Barack Obama is and has all the rights to be the President of this great nation, while YOU can never be!!!

    • Marcus

The tortured grammar you use would indicate either someone who is not a native speaker of English or a product of the public schools of cities Democrats have ruled for decades. The latter would also explain the chip on your shoulder the size if a pound cake and your brain washed adulation of the man least qualified to president of any that has ever served.

  • s c

Speaking on behalf of many conservatives who might be tempted to be far less tactful, I just want to say that in the very near future, the whole nation will know exactly why they can’t say Obummer and “great” in the same breath.
You do not have a clue, C. You see what you want to see. Your friends tell you what to think. You have complete faith in politicians. In effect, you are addicted to those who will use you and abuse in a heartbeat.
When you can think on your own, come back, and we’ll talk. Until then, go back to your Weekly Reader and get ready for cookies and milk. It’s almost time for you to leave for the nearest public school and attend kindergarten. Goo goo da da boo boo.

I am about 95% finished with this book and it has been very enlightening to say the least. Can’t wait for 2012 to get here! I am SOOOO ready to see who Obama’s replacement is going to be!
