The Republican Shell Game On Obamacare

March 29, 2013 by

The Republican Shell Game On Obamacare

Give us a break! That’s what Congress finally did on Saturday, when after a marathon session in the Senate, Congressmen all agreed to head out of town for their two-week spring break. So we’re safe from their meddlesome efforts until April 8.

But what a show they put on before they left. After arguing most of the night, the Senate finally managed to pass its first budget in four years at 4:56 in the morning. The final vote was 50-49, with every Republican opposing it. They were joined by four Democrats: Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Kay Hagan of North Carolina, Mark Begich of Alaska and Max Baucus of Montana. Not so coincidentally, all four are up for re-election next year.

I’ll have more to say about the battle of the budgets in a moment. But first I need to comment on two recent Senate votes on Obamacare and the incredible hypocrisy they demonstrated. First, Congressional Republicans declared their unwavering opposition to the badly misnamed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Then they voted to fund it for the rest of the year.

What the heck’s going on here?

Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), two tough young conservatives who defeated more establishment-type Republicans to win election, lived up to their campaign promises to try to end Obamacare. They forced a vote in the Senate on an amendment to defund the program. As expected, the measure lost on a straight party-line vote, with 55 Democrats voting against it and all 45 Republicans in the Senate voting in favor.

On March 20, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made a wonderful speech on the floor of the Senate:

In my view, Obamacare is a colossal mistake for our country. There’s just no way to fix it. It needs to be pulled out by its roots and we need to start over.

This bill needs to be repealed and replaced — not with another unreadable law or another 20,000 pages of regulations – but with common-sense reforms that actually lower health care costs.

And anyone who thinks we’ve given up that fight is dead wrong.

On March 15, McConnell gave a speech denouncing Obamacare at the Conservative Political Action Conference. He stood next to a stack of papers that were taller than he was, which he said were the 20,000 pages of new regulations that have been issued so far to implement this healthcare monstrosity. Some 828 pages of new regulations were issued in just one day, he said; and he warned that there are many more to come.

On March 11, in remarks on the Senate floor, McConnell said:

This law is a disaster waiting to happen.

Imagine the burden we’re placing on the single mom who wants to open her own store. Or the young entrepreneur who wants to sell some new idea. Or the business owners we all know from back home — the folks who employ so many of our constituents.

Instead of encouraging them to create jobs and grow the economy, we’re hitting them with a brick of regulations.

That all sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? But McConnell and 19 other Republican Senators voted to fund Obamacare for the rest fiscal 2013.

What you’ve got here is a perfect example of how many Republicans can vote for “business as usual” in Washington, while at the same time making sure they can posture as staunch conservatives for the folks back home.

Here are the 20 Republican Senators who voted in favor of the Cruz amendment, knowing it would fail, but then voted in favor of a measure to make sure the healthcare monstrosity gets all of the taxpayer funds it needs to continue operations for the rest of this fiscal year:

Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, John Barrasso of Wyoming, Roy Blunt of Missouri, John Boozman of Arkansas, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, Dan Coats of Indiana, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Susan Collins of Maine, Bob Corker of Tennessee, John Cornyn of Texas, Orrin Hatch of Utah, John Hoeven of North Dakota, Johnny Isakson of Georgia, Mike Johanns of Nevada, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, Richard Shelby of Alabama, John Thune of South Dakota and Roger Wicker of Mississippi.

By the way, you may be wondering why the vote to fund Obamacare was included in an omnibus piece of legislation called a “continuing resolution.” The reason is that our august leaders know that they can get a lot more votes for their massive spending programs if they lump enough things together in one humongous package. So rather than individual votes on various parts of the Federal budget, we get one all-inclusive continuing resolution.

It’s so much safer that way. Witness what just happened with efforts to defund Obamacare.

In the predawn hours of March 23, the Democratic majority in the Senate also did something that it has vigorously avoided for the past four years: It passed a budget.

As the kids would say, big whoop. The Democrats’ plan calls for almost $1 trillion in new revenue over the next 10 years. But thanks to 62 percent more spending over the decade, even if they get all that new revenue, the budget still won’t balance.

The Republicans, meanwhile, didn’t do much better. The Paul Ryan budget, which the House passed and the Senate rejected, also called for more spending, just not quite as much. The Republican budget would have increased Federal spending by 40 percent over the next 10 years. But thanks to increased revenue from our slowly growing economy, the budget was supposed to have balanced by year 10.

Mind you, neither the Democrats nor the Republicans are actually calling for a reduction in government spending. The best we can hope for, they say, is a slight reduction in the proposed growth of government.

Until we more people in the U.S. Senate who will stick to their campaign promises on every vote and who don’t engage in the sort of shell game we just saw with funding for Obamacare, I’m afraid they are probably correct.

Of the 21 Senate seats currently held by Democrats that will be contested next year, Republicans have to win only six of them in addition to retaining the seats they hold in order to regain control of the Senate.

But it sure wouldn’t hurt if, at the same time, some of the soft-as-marshmallows Republicans in the list above could also be replaced by some people with a little more backbone.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

You are overlooking the real problem. The Republicans failed to take the Senate and the President is Dem(agogue). . . All the Republicans can do is threaten or actually shutdown the government. The Dem(agogues) would welcome this because they would win the argument via control of the mass media. The President might even declare a “National Emergency” and put total collectivism through via Executive Order. ELECTIONS MUST BE WON! The real problem is the Republican cowardice and FAILURE TO DEMONIZE the DEM(agogue) President.

That’s getting tougher and tougher because of the massive fraud perpetrated by the Dems on a routine basis.

      • Doc Sarvis

Please give me examples of massive fraud by the Democrats in our last election.

      • Michael J.

        Doc Sarvis,
I would gladly provide you with a Demfraud list though it would take generations to generate and have to be completed by my offspring long after my passing.

      • Doc Sarvis

Michael J – I just asked for the 2012 election and it does not have to be a complete list. I just want to see what you folks describe as massive fraud by the Democrats.

      • Deerinwater

        Michael J. says:

“I would gladly provide you with a Demfraud list though it would take generations to generate and have to be completed by my offspring long after my passing.”

Response ~ So in other word ~ don’t expect for you to support your claim. ~ Two sentences to make such a wild claim is all you’re good for. Anything more is just too demanding.

The GOP has all the money and will power to do what ever they want but they can’t sell enough of a bad product to a free people to win an election, while known to employ anything from defunding to redistricting to restricting the vote

Have you ever considered it’s what they are attempting to sell ?

Sad songs and waltzes are not selling this year.

      • Michael J.

        Doc Sarvis,
“The truth is out there”, do your own research…

      • Michael J.

I just don’t think the iota of difference that seperates the Dems and the GOP are worth talking about. Now if you would like to talk about resurecting conservative founding principles… I’m on board.

      • Doc Sarvis

        Michael J
I have looked and have NOT seen any credible evidence of massive voter fraud from the Democrats in the 2012 election. Nor have I seen the same from the Democrats in other elections though I have not looked as much. I am really beginning to doubt that you have such evidence.

      • Michael J.

        Doc Sarvis,
Dem vote fraud is but the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Search “SCYTL”, Soros SOS, etc., etc. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH, I will not drag you into the light!!!

      • Doc Sarvis

Michael J. I don’t think you know the way to the light.
The claim that President Obama has sold the tabulating of votes in U.S. national elections to Scytl, a Spanish company run by a donor to his campaign is FALSE.

        • tony newbill

DOC do you consider this act by Obama Fascist ??? To me its Corporate-government fascism . And don’t say Bush did it too we already Know that so don’t pass the buck answer this question please ????

i am not a supporter any longer of either party. We need a third party who will govern only by our constitution. We need to go back to principles of 3 branches with equal but separate powers. Today we have legislatures wanting to execute our laws, executive who wants to enforce and judicial who wants to legislate and re-legislate(in the case of Obamacare). How can any real patriot of America allow this to happen. Get right people if not for yourself for your children and grandchildren who will suffer through this continuation of abuse of power. I believe in my God not man. Man is neither sinless nor has all the answers.

The problem is, the republicrats have the elections tied up so that only thay can be elected. Stain said: I don’t care about the electers, I care about who’s counting the votes. Unless a candidate can cover every voting station, he’s all but wasting his time. Ron Paul experienced that when he went to the Libertarians. Better to work from inside through the primaries. You have the least amount of voters showing up and stand a better chance of ridding America of this scum.

            Pappy says,

Very simple solution, if the Congressmen & women don’t do what they have promised then we the people vote them out of office at the next election (only give them one term to prove themselves). If it’s a Republican that needs to go and there is no other Republican to take his place then vote for the Democrat. It really doesn’t matter at this stage of the game, their all the same. As soon as they realize that we the people are their boss, and will fire them, things will change. Just like you and I, they want to keep their jobs to.

Irish 19, who is to tell us what God(/) wants us to do as a nation” Which of the of the 11 churches in my town of 6000 do I go to to get the answer when they all have different answers! Which one do you go to or do you just hear the voice(?) of God?
Is it possible to get right by thinking left? Really?? Who told you??

      • ? Chocopot

Here you go – start with these. Also, ACORN, for which Obama served as Chief Counsel, was created for the sole purpose of engaging in voter registration fraud, for which they have been indicted and convicted on many occasions. They may have registered as many as several million persons who should not be registered.

      • Doc Sarvis

tony newbill, No I don’t. I don’t agree with the decision either but that does not make it fascism.

        • tony newbill

Doc heres the definition of Fascism ; , dictatorial movement: any movement, ideology, or attitude that favors dictatorial government, centralized control of private enterprise, repression of all opposition, and extreme nationalism

Doc consider how Obama has told us he has been leading from behind on foreign and domestic policies , and letting ” OTHER FORCES ” Lead in the Process of Change ????

He gets his way without having to be seen as the one doing the deeds of Fundamental Transformation .

        • tony newbill

Doc just as Obama did with the NDAA , the Congress wrote it and past it then he made a Big deal about signing it saying he was against it but HE SIGNED it stating We Could Trust him , but the Act clearly is a Fascist one , is No different than this Monsanto Act They wrote and He signed it but it is another one of those Political Maneuvers that Makes it look like he was not responsible for the act but the act is still a fascist one .
And there are so many others to point to . All is needed is a Good CRISIS and that seems to be what our nation and all the others are good at manufacturing anymore is crisis after crisis , and this Monsanto act is a Crisis that very well could create the Division between nations on food supply and trade that could disrupt the dollar as its ability to trade in the international markets with other nations as they consider this Monsanto food supply and reject and that lead to a defection from the dollar , opening the door to Nationalization of the US Market to contain existing supply inflation .

        Doc Sarvis,
Believing anything “Snopes” has to say is a bit like believing the Fox who’s guarding the Hen House when he’s claiming to be a vegetarian.

        Here’s another no-brainer for you… Never play leap-frog with a Unicorn!!!

      • http://personalliberty Alondra

        Michael J.,
WOW, Doc Sarvis sent you to Snoops!

What a “credible”, what a reliable and trustworthy source, who labeled themselves as the ‘TELL-ALL FINAL WORD’

About two years ago we did some research and found:
For several years people tried to find out WHO exactly was behind Well, they found out.

It is run by David and Barbara Mikkelson, a husband and wife team from the San Fernando Valley of California, who have no background or experience in investigative research. They have no office, no investigators or researchers, no lawyers. They run their “media” business from their basement.

In the beginning they/Snoops tried to sell themselves as UNBIASED and NEUTRAL and claimed to have the bottom line facts to certain questions or issue when in fact they have been proven to be DECEIVERS.

It also has been learned that the Mikkelsons are very Democratic (party) and EXTREMELY LIBERAL and later they became an O’homobama’s paid shills.

And as any O’homobama’s shill, their job/agenda is to mislead and discredit any TRUTH. Therefore they are posting on their site many hoax

The Mikkelsons themselves helped to expose their radical liberalism by their website’s LIES.

        Michael, spread the TRUTH.
“Great is TRUTH, and mighty above all things.” (2Ezdra 4:41)

          Yo Pork Belly,

“Q: Is run by “very Democratic” proprietors? Did they lie to discredit a State Farm insurance agent who attacked Obama?

A: A chain e-mail that “exposed” Snopes contains falsehoods. And in fact, the site is run by someone who has no political party affiliation and his non-voting Canadian wife. A State Farm spokeswoman confirms what they reported about the Obama-baiting agent.

          Can you verify?

Based on some of the ‘very credible” web sites that you reference, do you have the credibility to take shots at anyone?

          FULL ANSWER

This widely circulated e-mail contains a number of false claims about the urban legend-busting and its proprietors, Barbara and David Mikkelson, who started the site in 1995 and still run it. They’re accused of hiding their identities, doing shoddy research, producing articles with a liberal bent and discrediting an anti-Obama State Farm agent out of partisanship”.

    • Michael J.

      Lloyd Miller,
While your comments are valid, you also, have overlooked the real problem. And that is that voting tallies are now artificially manipulated in a way carefully orchestrated to preserve the illusion of voter choice/control. We have already lost something even more valuable than the first and second ammendment in that the peoples true vote has now been sequestered. If the upset in the last presidential elections did not convince you that something was wrong, then wait till the 2014 midterm elections where I predict the house will be awarded to Democrats VIA creative vote tally manipulation. And inspite of public opinion and personnel conversations with those you know and complete strangers you meet on the street, I believe it will happen.

We are truly lost, like contented cows blissfully grazing in a field right next door to the slaughter house.

      • nc

Michael J, since you appear to be one person and there are thousands of polling places on election days you must be taking the OPINIONS of others as to rampant voter fraud, Right? What is your record for exposing and convicting others of voting fraud? And the record of those whose opinions you believe??? If ten first graders voted by show of hands on the playground and the vote was 9 to 1 the 1 would cry “YOU CHEATED”. But that’s a first grader!!!! You sound awfully familiar here at PARANOID CENTRAL!!! I pray for your swift recovery!

I am so disgusted with Richard Shelby, but especially Jeff Sessions. With the exception of a very few Republicans, most should not be in office. They are there for me and because of me and they have betrayed conservatives in America. A bunch of moderate Democrats in Republican clothing. They need to find some guts.

      • Deerinwater

        Michael J. says:

        “NC and Deer-in-wire,
Conservatives have opinions which are based on reality/history… Liberals have mimicked collectivist view points based on pie in the sky utopias.”

I say, Michael, It’s “Deerinwater” just one word ~ it’s true that it’s a compound word ~ but I feel certain that you can tackle the complexity of compound words.

But if you can’t ~ I see little need in pointing out the folly of your “thinking process” or your vision of the world that surround you , much less your place in it.

The GOP has offered us such thinking as Tax Breaks create JOBS. ~ Now if perhaps that’s to be true ~ it didn’t create enough jobs now ~ did it? ~ while it did much in the creating of budget short falls that required borrowing to keep government afloat and interest mounted on top of debit. ~ This has been Conservative thinking. ~ as the hole we have dug ~ was all stated by “Conservative thinking” ~

Ronnie Reagan ~ gave the American people their first Trillion dollar debit ~ with his “conservative thinking” ~ this is a fact ~

So surely ~ you can’t be as bright as you think that you are ~ while you pass judgement and make wild claims about what your opposition is doing today or done it the past.

My Ex wife ~ displayed these same selective memory problems ~ That I still loved and respected her ~ didn’t take away for the fact that she was stark raving mad! ~ A fundamental flaw in her character that I was most willing to overlook ~ but only to a point as her behavior grew ever more expensive and more demanding with my willingness to overlook. ~

Having dealt with insanity before ~ I know where you are coming from and that any attempt to appease you ~ only acerbates the condition.

You are not gifted with special powers and insights ~ for if you were ~ you world offer us a sign of it. ~

Making “Claims” is all you seem to be able to do.

With the political system now completely corrupted and permanently irreparable in its current state, the smartest thing we TRUE Conservatives (NOTE:If you’re STILL voting for the GOP, you’re not a true Conservative; you’re an idiot!)can do at this point is deliberately vote for Democrats to accelerate the destruction of the country, so that everything can eventually be reset sooner because it is only after we are completely destroyed that we can re-establish this country on the proper footing. When the American People are truly hurting, then and only then will there be the needed recipe for Revolution and Civil War which is a guaranteed certainty. As things currently stand, how can there be any political solution when all the money, all the voting, all the State legislatures, State governorships, the courts, and the media is in the hands of the other two(one) parties(party), psychotic billionaires, and the CIA??? We must allow the system to self-destruct. Any efforts at organizing or protesting like the TEA Parties will be co-opted by one or the other political parties and never covered by the CIA-controlled national tv networks – only the internet, which translates to a virtual end to the 1st Amendment. If we Conservatives vote to put in more Democrats of the most Liberal and vile persuasion in the Senate and Congress, it will stir the flames of Secession and Revolution. The globalists will get what they want, too. Face it, we are utterly powerless. They know it, and we know it now all too well. The longer we wait, the more time they have to purchase all the ammo, guns, and tanks in the universe, and the more time they have to create their version of the American Schutzstaffel (SS)and promote their own psychopaths and traitors into higher positions of power in the US military and Pentagon. I dare the SCOTUS to pass gay marriage and end the 2nd Amendment, and at the same time, I encourage the establishment of ultra-Liberal justices to eventually accomplish the complete breakdown of sanity and the US Constitution to foment rebellion in the nation for the eventual destruction of everything in the District of Criminals and by that I mean EVERYTHING and BOTH PARTIES.

When rebellion and Civil war eventually plays out in the nation, Russia and China will take full advantage of this opportunity to invade the continental United States on several fronts and upset the balance of power in the world. Obama, their Communist plant, will welcome them in to squash the rebellion and give the first wave of Communist “invaders” who are likely already hidden on this continent the DHS munitions that have been recently purchased, but in the process, the traitors in the District of Criminals in both parties will all be arrested and/or executed by the Communists. So, at least there will be some justice meted out in the process to these traitors in the District of Criminals. It’s all over now; it’s just that many of us don’t know it yet.

The globalist bankers, billionaires, and millionaires have already pulled many of their American stocks because they know the “correction” in the stock market, the US petrodollar, and the US economy is about to happen. Many have offshore residences to which they will escape when the SHTF along with numerous offshore bank accounts in other denominations and/or gold.

God has already indicated He is on the side of Judgment for Babylon America. We might as well concede defeat because it is inevitable without His help – aka – a miracle from God.

All I’ve got to say is: “WWJD?” Republicans don’t view this country as a whole, where we are all better off when we are All better off. They work to protect the rich. I ask, “What would Jesus do? If he were living today, would he caucus with the re-Publicans or the Democrats?” Think deeply about this, rich people, as you parade into church in fancy and new, expensive Easter clothes on Easter Sunday. Jesus viewed all as worthy, worthy of respect and help. He cared not only for people’s souls but also for their physical health. .

Susan, how long have you been sucking at the government tit and how many are you on?

~ Texas Ride ~why must you continue to say things ~ that you have zero knowledge of?

This constant “assuming and labeling” people only makes you appears stupid and foolish. Susan could be a daughter of an Oklahoma “wildcater” for all you know. ~ She might well not have to work a day in her life. While she employing idiots like you, that would leave their families for weeks at a time to do a little rough necking and glad for the opportunity.

Just because people don’t agree with you does not mean that you know where their livelihood is coming from or that it must come from government.

I don’t agree with 97 % of what you say ~ and the only government money I’ve ever had in my hand were a GI salary. ~ roughly 14 cents an hour including combat pay. While today I am a 43 years in trade independent business man that pays taxes and votes. My money came the hard way ~ and I won’t take no lip off on people like yourself.

Susan asks: “What would Jesus do? If he were living today, would he caucus with the re-Publicans or the Democrats?”

Susan, Jesus will say: “If anyone is not willing to work, NEITHER SHOULD HE EAT. For we hear that SOME AMONG YOU WALK IN IDLENESS, NOT BUSY AT WORK, BUT BUSYBODIES. Now such persons we command and encourage in the LORD Jesus Christ to DO THEIR WORK QUIETLY and EARN THEIR OWN LIVING.” –Thes. 3

“For to everyone, WHO HAS, WILL MORE BE GIVEN, and he will have an abundance. But from the one, WHO HAS NOT, EVEN WHAT HE HAS WILL BE TAKEN AWAY.’” – Jesus Christ

Susan, Read the full passage in Matthew 25:14-29. I hope you’ll understand it correctly.

“A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” (Proverbs 10)

“Who is slothful, will not roast his game; but the diligent will get precious wealth.” (Proverbs 12)

“Let your conduct be without ENVY; BE CONTENT WITH SUCH THINGS AS YOU HAVE.” (Hebrew 13:5)

“But if you have BITTER ENVY and SELF-SEEKING IN YOUR HEARTS, DO NOT BOAST AND LIE AGAINST THE TRUTH…For where ENVY and self-seeking exist, confusion and every EVIL thing are there.” (James 3:14-16)

Susan, even in the secular society the ENVY is ONE of the seven deadly Vices/sins:
        1. Lust (Πορνεία)
        2. ENVY (Λύπη)
        3. Sloth (τεμπελιά)
        4. Pride (Ὑπερηφανία)
        5. Wrath (Ὀργή)
        6. Greed (Φιλαργυρία)
        7. Gluttony (Γαστριμαργία)

Susan, ENVY makes ENVIOUS soul unhappy.

Susan, the God’s 10th Commandment is: “You SHALL NOT COVET your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife… nor ANYTHING THAT IS YOUR NEIGHBOR’S.”

I was born and raised in Texas myself ~ and I fail to appreciated his borrowing the name of my state to label his dirty work and flawed off color thinking. ~ And for those that don’t know, ~ a Texas democrat is more of a Conservative Thinker than most state republicans. ( Oklahoma excluded of course)

Republicans support the rich no more than democrats profess to be for the working man. The working man was used for all socialist power grabbers. neither party is worthy of a vote. They are all in it for themselves. Power begets power. Sin begets sin/ Only God can save us all if we admit our transgressions and ask for forgiveness. I pray i will see a third party that gets it right and takes us back to the constituion and our founding principles. Our founders were not afraid to admit they did not have all the answers, but would let God lead them to do the right thing, Where is God today in our daily lives?

God gives people their choices and doesn’t trample on them. To do otherwise God would be putting people in bondage and that’s not what he’s all about. The choice between the persuasions of Satan and salvation through Christ is the choice that’s good for all of eternity. John 3:16

Americans when polled on Obamacare may provide a slight disapproval rating. That is polling on the rhetoric. However, when polled about the specifics, Americans are strongly in favor of the act.

  • Capitalist at Birth.

Of which specifics do you speak? The fact that the Government determines what kind of insurance you will buy, even if you don’t want certain aspects of the plan? The fact that the Government will tell you what type of treatment/medication you may or may not receive? You are either a liar or a dupe. Which is it?

  • rendarsmith

Doc, I really don’t know where you are getting your information. “Times/CBS Poll: 68% Against Obamacare”

    That’s more than slight Doc.

  • Flashy

The President fully embraced Obamacare in his re-election. The particulars are flowing to the citizenry and as you state Doc, the overwhelming majority approve of the particulars. The hype from the extremists cloud the issue as they support Big Pharma and Big Insurance in attempting to stigmatize the overall package.

The extremists and lunatic fringe rant and rave, use old cliches proven to be false, make stuff up…they have no shame as they drive to send this nation downward and backward. Lacking any sense of social responsibility, they care only about immediate self gratification and feeding the anger, the fear, the insecurities they hold. They’ll grasp at any straw, no matter which charlatan holds it out, as long as it feeds their cowardly fear and paranoia.

They want to do away with Obamacare…for the sole reason it is this administration which is moving this Nation forward. that’s it. no other reason. In the past, what Obamacare is they had called for. Now it’s such a terrible thing since it was finally enacted under this administration.

What the alternative is? We can revert to what the health care was…which NO ONE..not even the wacked extremists, can say was good. Placing us in the ranks of the Third World in health care to the Middle Class. Or we have an option of moving forward, having a public option (option being the key word).

But the publc option is feared by the extremists. Fully showing their anti American goals, they oppose anything which would give immediate benefits to small businesses relieving them of the costs of insuring employees. Freeing Middle America from paying hundreds of dollars to ensure their families have access to health care. Boosting the economy and widening the social safety net. In their anti American zeal, they’ll lie, they’ll yell, they’ll threaten, they’ll spout nonsense and claim their selfish cowardly interests should be above that of all other Americans and this Nation.

I oft wonder how they can hold themselves with pride…Then i realize, they won’t tell their neighbors how reactionary and hate America they are. If PLD would allow their names to be listed instead of pseudonyms? There’d be much different songs being sung. You can see that in the Facebook postings as they become more and more moderate in tone and statement as those posters realize just who can now see their words.

True Americans, Americans who embrace what this country offers, are shoving these wacked extremists into the shadows. 2014…the GOP will truly be a regiolized force…and we can then move forward into the future, unburdened by the rantings and anti American movements fostered by the TP and the American Taliban

With the coming midterm elections looming, be prepared for little to no change. Why?, you ask. Because of the states refusals to do away with the “master lever” method of balloting. There is no integrity in our election process at all. It is a process that has been dumbed down now for decades. We need to have mostly educated and purposeful voters in order to “clear the junk” from Washington. I believe our balloting processes, state to state, discourages the educated voter more so than it does the weak and stupid. When the weak minded and stupid voters begin to outnumber the intelligent voters, we get low turnout. The smart and educated do not complain of balloting problems but have a sense that nothing or nobody they believe they want to vote for can beat the miserable, deeply intrenched incumbent. While the dopy leaching voter just casually walks into the booth and remembers that it’s simply a line across the big D.

    Dear Flashy,
You ask what can be done with healthcare, so I will tell you. First no one in the govt needs to know about any of my medical conditions and for the govt to believe that it can manage my healthcare insurance better than me is a total fallacy. If you want better healthcare in this nation then let the free markets reign. Let doctors and hospitals post their prices so people can choose who they see and who they don’t. Right now we have a middleman of insurance companies and that is being replaced by a govt of middlemen or should I say meddle men. These people all want their cut so to speak and all it has done is drive healthcare insurance premiums off the scale. This is exactly what is happening under Obamacare. Get doctors into areas where they’re needed by paying off their medical school bills and having them contract for 7 years. Once established the doctor can either stay on or sell his business to another doctor. Obamacare is not about healthcare, it is about control. Once you see it for what it really is it is frightening.

  • Flashy call for the insurance companies to be ousted from the formula. Restrict a market by completely banning a commercial practice? Even i don’t go that far. As it stands, as long as the insurance companies are existing in the marketplace, they will work with drs and hospitals etc to maximize the dollars they can squeeze from the consumer…

We have similar thoughts though…the insurance companies and their willingness to squeeze the consumer to drive costs sky high. You, it appears, would bar them from medical fields. i would say “here’s the public option. meet the minimal care and at a competitive cost, or provide riders…your choice and business decision ”

The ‘old days’ pre insurance, medical schools and drs weren’t expecting and thinking it was their right to make hundreds of thousands per year. it was a love of the profession. Today, doctors believe they are deserving and are mandated to make hundreds of thousands..and they work in collusion with insurance companies to have that.

One can’t get refused insurance due to a pre-existing condition and young adults (in these hard economic times) can stay on their parents insurance into their early 20′s (I don’t remember the exact age). Also, people are to take personal responsibility for their health costs as opposed to the old plan where the insured paid higher premiums to cover a lot of the costs for those who did not buy insurance and/or who made bad health choices. There is also the tax credits for small businesses that offer their employees coverage.

    Also, check out:'s_really_in_it

Cap. have you ever purchased a “plan” where you agreed to every regulation and specific of the plan? There was nothing in the plan that you would not like to tweak or subtract to your benefit??? Really?? Not one thing?? Did you buy it anyway because it was not perfect but was the best you could get?? YOU ARE ONE LUCKY CITIZEN if all of your plans are perfect!

  • Capitalist at Birth.

Doc and nc. Number one maternity benefits were only electable as a part of a family plan, and there was never any birth control or ED drugs paid for, otherwise they were basic plans. I have never had to worry about pre-existing conditions. Do you think some one with Diabetes or any other chronic disease should pay the same costs for insurance as a more healthy individual, or do you think those rates should be adjusted upward as they are with auto and home insurance? I have never heard of anyone being denied insurance for any pre-existing condition. They are quite frequently priced out of the insurance market as are habitual drunk drivers. What is wrong with the free market? It works pretty well. Once Government gets involved, is when it is no longer free and stops working properly. If I had my way, all medical costs would be deductible from income taxes and we would make medical savings accounts completely income tax exempt (as long as we have income taxes that is) without any allowance or alteration. Self insure. If I had all of the money into insurance companies less the medical expenses reimbursed I would have a medical savings account well over $ 250,000.00 not including interest. If you eliminate insurance you eliminate costs. I pay out of pocket $ 62 for an office visit. The same Doctor billed the insurance company over $ 180.00 for the same visit. Your excuse is that it is too big and complicated to be left to the individual. You are nothing but Totalitarian Fascists.

Maybe Americans don’t like the term “Obamacare” but, as a whole, they like what is in it.

  • deerinwater

    crash1133 says:

“You couldn’t be more wrong. Americans didnt want it thre years go, they dont want it now and they wont want it in 2014 when take over the Senate.”

Allow me to correct you before you crash and burn.

Some Americans didn’t want it 3 years ago and some Americans still don’t today. ~ And that is not surprising, as some American’s were enjoying discounted health care at all Tax payers expense and have been for many years. ~ Status Quo was working quite well for them as the inequality built into the system greatly favored them.

This displeasure in change of any kind is understood as those that enjoyed this disparity felt “entitled” ~ felt deserving ~ felt it “earned” ~ but it wasn’t earned ~ it was federally subsidized with a health care system that was predicated on employment by a “blue chip” identity.

And the Senate majority is up for grabs ~ take it if you can ~ but today it is lead by the democrats.

Crash ~ you are not a part of today majority ~ so why should you claim it?

While the majority of Americans are opposed to Obamacare, the vast majority are strongly supportive of all of the government’s other forays into medicine.

What coldhearted cad couldn’t support the Prescription drug benefit of Bush to help seniors?

Who, but someone utterly cold and callous could possibly be against Medicare, desiring harm to those same, feeble senior citizens?

And certainly, no one but Scrooge himself would dream of opposing the Medicaid act born out of a noble “war” on poverty.

This kind of emotional argument has a sting for almost anyone who dares oppose the government providing the medical care and many other things for said persons via the tax dollars of working people. And it stings because the vast, vast majority of Americans subscribe to the morality of altruism, the ethics of living for others as the ultimate value.

How many of us do not cringe at the appellation of selfish?

It is an automatic, black mark on one’s character to be labeled as such, but why?

Why is it considered universally immoral, indeed almost a heinous crime, to care about one’s own self and loved ones primarily, and to desire the justice of reaping the fruits of one’s own labor?

There is no answer other than the multi millennia long, ingrained tradition of altruism.

Throughout western history, altruism has had a monopoly on conventional morality largely via Christianity and Judaism. In the 18th and 19th centuries, philosophers such as Kant, Hegel, and Marx wrapped altruism in a cloak of a supposed rational philosophy, building political and economic ideologies around the morality of living for the collective.

While the religious altruist school deemed sacrifice a virtue for “God”, the new political altruist school deemed it a virtue for the “people”. While both sides differed on the fundamental reason sacrifice was a virtue, they both did indeed agree on altruism as a virtue. Both shared the unsupported claim that sacrifice for “others” was the cornerstone of morality.

Until the radical nation of the United States came into existence, the morality of individual rights had never been given political expression. For the first time, a country was founded on the notion that an individual had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Yet the founders of the United States, while divorcing altruism from politics, had not rejected altruism in ethics, hence the dilemma of most Americans being “against” government infringements of individual rights while at the same time unable to oppose the altruistic, allegedly “just” motive of those infringements.

Flash forward to the 2012 Presidential election and we can see the culmination of two sides of the same coin: Obama who justifies government force and regulation and the violation of individual rights in medicine on a federal level, and Romney who justifies the exact same thing on a state level.

Obama justifies his force for the good of the people, and Romney hears the call of a higher being telling him to do so.

Once you acknowledge the minutiae of their differences, Obama and Romney are in fact, two sides of the same altruistic coin. Realizing that they differ not in principles but merely in a fraction of degrees, it is understandable as why the majority who opposed Obamacare did not vote for Romney based on upon their disapproval of Obamacare.

Both candidates and most Americans fully accept the notion that it is moral for the government to interject force in men’s dealings for the “good” of the whole. Most Americans and both candidates believe it is moral, at varying levels, to transfer wealth from the productive to the less productive. Most Americans and both candidates feel it is unarguably immoral to be concerned solely with one’s self, i.e. selfish.

Most Americans and both candidates feel it is the proper role of government, to varying degrees, to “level” the playing field, create a “fair” environment, promote “equalization” of opportunity, or to drop the euphemisms, “from each according to his ability to each according to his need”.

Until Americans reject the sacrificial ethics of altruism and fully embrace the morality of individual rights, which recognizes and treats with man as what he is, an independent entity, no majority will be able to slow or reverse the century long unraveling of the only political system based upon individual rights.

For those Americans opposed to the immorality and destructiveness of Obamacare, it is not simply enough to reject that law alone, but they must reject altruism in all its forms and guises.

Americans must once again, stand proudly for our intellectual birthright as free individuals, subordinate to no king, church, majority or mob.

The intellectual desendants of the Founders must reject the immoral notion of one man’s needs or wants as a claim on the life of another. And to be consistent and effective, they must reject not just the latest apex of government interference in medicine which is Obamacare, but the whole series of incremental steps to Obamacare such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Until and unless Americans are ready to reject the package deal of altruism and a political system based upon the alleged rights of some violating the actual rights of others, until and unless Americans understand that no thing can be a right which violates another’s rights, Obamacare and the logically ensuing nationalization and destruction of medicine is unavoidable and unstoppable.

If there are such things as individual rights, if they are inherent in each of us and in fact inalienable, a majority does not, and can never, a moral make.

  • CatGman

What the hell else should we expect from these sorry sacks of crap.

“Holy Smokes Ralph. Racheal Madow reports on Obama’s actions as radical. Maybe, some of the MSM types are getting the picture on this Muslim”??? (watch here)

President Barack Obama campaigned on promises to end secret prisons, decriminalize marijuana, balance the budget, honor the Second Amendment and make health care affordable. But what really unfolded was an explosion in the national debt (now $16 trillion and climbing), the signing of the NDAA, a claimed new power to kill any American at any time, even on U.S. soil, the use of military drones to murder American children overseas, a full-on assault against the Bill of Rights, a doubling of health insurance rates and the destruction of the U.S. economy.

    But that’s not all.

Now Obama has signed the “Monsanto Protection Act” into law, stabbing America in the heart yet again and proving that no matter how convincing politicians appear on the campaign trail, they are still sociopathic liars in the end.

The Monsanto Protection Act, part of the HR 933 continuing resolution, allows Monsanto to override U.S. federal courts on the issue of planting experimental genetically engineered crops all across the country. Even if those experimental crops are found to be extremely dangerous or to cause a runaway crop plague, the U.S. government now has no judicial power to stop them from being planted and harvested.

I wrote a theme paper in my Sociology class in 1966 in regards to how Medicare and Medicare would cause inflation for everyone in medical costs. I was chastised by my socialist teacher for being too negative. Ha Ha. Since that time the cost of medical care has risen at twice the rate of inflation for all other goods and services. Government can only do damage to any thing it attempts to regulate. Government leads to cronyism and corruption. That is all it is good for. Lining the pockets of those career politicians and their friends and families.

You understand that all the radicals have on their side is “emotions!” They reject facts, truth and embrace “emotionalism.” Their true agenda has nothing that people want, but when presented “emotionally” it becomes acceptable. This is not the way to “govern a country.”

What is mine is mine and it does not belong to the State! What is mine is not to be given to another group of laz-a-bouts that refuses to work for their own groceries! This is fundamentally wrong in every mind except those libs that live in their own “fantasy world.” (or do they really.!) Isn’t this all a sham on the part of the libs….It is more of a “tool”: like “multiculturalism, diversity, tolerance and political correctness.” Why Americans ever bought into these “tools” of the leftsts will be anwered by Historians. It has to be a “cultural breakdown” among Americans that used to believe in preserving their own demographics and culture, believing in individual responsibility, and believing in working to achieve their own rewards and believing in keeping what they earned.

The problem is that America has been “Balkanized” by large groups of foreigners with different cultures, values and ideologies! Our demographic have been diluted and no longer represent Americanism or anything that Americans have always believed.

WTS, when I read the Preamble, which sets out the goal of the founders for the government they were creating, I don’t see where providing for the common defense, atom bombs and B-2 bombers, was given any more priority than promoting the general welfare or insuring domestic tranquility to prevent out citizens .especially the children, from starving in the streets! Do you? They set no cost limits! They did not say that when the national debt reached x trillion we will no longer look out for the less fortunate (welfare) or end the insurance of domestic tranquility! Neither did they set a time limit and say that after X number of years we will no longer provide any of those things set out in the Preamble!

Even Democratic Party Loyalists Starting to Wake Up to the Fact that Obama Is As Bad As Bush … Or Worse

Obama Is Worse than Bush In Favoring the Super-Elite, Bailing Out the Big Banks, Protecting Financial Criminals, Targeting Whistleblowers, Keeping Government Secrets, Trampling Our Liberties and Starting Military Conflicts In New Countries

Glenn Greenwald notes that even Democratic party loyalists are getting fed up with Obama’s Bush-like actions: Even the most loyal establishment Democrats are now harshly denouncing the president for his war on transparency ….This secrecy has become so oppressive and extreme that even the most faithful Democratic operatives are now angrily exploding with public denunciations.

    Greenwald gives numerous examples:

    The Hill reported last month:

A majority of voters believe President Obama has been no better than his immediate predecessor, President George W. Bush, when it comes to balancing national security with the protection of civil liberties, according to a new poll for The Hill.

Thirty-seven percent of voters argue that Obama has been worse than Bush while 15 percent say he has been about the same. [In other words, a total of 52% think Obama is just as bad as Bush. That was before the drone controversy…

The results cannot be fully explained as party line responses. More than one in five self-identified Democrats, 21 percent, assert that the Obama administration has not improved upon Bushs record. So do 23 percent of liberals. Indeed, more and more Democrats are waking up the fact that Obama is doing a lot of the same stuff Bush did.

Bush was a horrible president. His warmongering, disrespect for civil liberties, redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the super-elite, and obsession for secrecy were all abysmal. But how does Obama stack up by objective measurements?

    Let’s compare …

-Favoring the Super-Elite the Expense of Everyone Else

-Income inequality has increased more under Obama than under Bush.

-Under Obama, the richest Americans have captured more than 100% of all income gains.

Liberal Nobel prize economist Joseph Stiglitz said in 2009 that Obama’s toxic asset plan amounts to robbery of the American people .

    Bailing Out the Big Banks:

While everyone knows about the $700 billion “Tarp” bailout which started under Bush, a top banking analyst puts the current bailouts under Obama at more than $780 billion each year.

    Protecting Financial Criminals

Obama has prosecuted fewer financial crimes than President Reagan, Clinton or either of the Bush presidents.

Obama’s chief law enforcement officer – the Attorney General of the United States – has publicly stated that he won’t go after big banks.

    Targeting Whistleblowers

Obama has prosecuted more whistleblowers than all other presidents combined.

Obama – even more than Bush – is protecting criminal activity by prosecuting and harassing whistleblowers.

Indeed, the Obama administration is/are literally treating whistleblowers as terrorists.

    Using Government Secrecy

In March 2010, AP documented that – under Obama – 17 major agencies were 50 percent more likely to deny freedom of information requests than under Bush.

An ACLU staff attorney puts it:

In some ways, the Obama administration is actually even more aggressive on secrecy than the Bush administration.

A new AP investigation published last week shows that the Obama administration has recently become more secretive than ever.

    Trampling Liberties and the Constitution

Liberals rightfully hate Bush for trampling liberties. Bush even called the Constitution a “God Damn Piece of Paper”.

But Obama has gone much further than Bush ever did by:

    (1) Declaring the right to assassinate Americans living on U.S. soil (no … this was never disclaimed) without any due process of law.

    (2) Declaring that he can indefinitely detain Americans on U.S. soil without any due process of law.

    (3) Spying on Americans more widely than Bush (the former head of the National Security Agencys global digital data gathering program ” William Binney ” says that the pervasiveness of spying under Obama has only gotten worse )

    (4) Bush destroyed much of the separation of powers which made our country great. Under Obama, its gotten worse. For example, the agency which decides who should be killed by drone is the same agency which spies on all Americans.

    (5) Otherwise shredding the Bill of Rights

Starting Military Conflicts In New Countries…continued below:

Their hypocrits, liars, thieves, unpatriotic, people that would sell their own souls, have earned the reputation of being residents of the District of Crminals; but what does that say us? We put them there didn’t we? Like it or not, they are a reflection of us. The good news is we can change our ways and once again become responsible employers. People are spelling out the facts. Granted, truth is hard to find but it is there for the diligent seekers. Those four democrats that voted with the republicans on the budget apparently were afraid of people that are doing their duty as responsible citizens.

Alexis de Tocquevlle observed as he traveled around America seeking out her secrets that the American people always carried out a copy of their bible and constitution with them where ever they went. In some ways they might not be educated but in the things that counted they were “The most enlightened people in the world”. What happened? What’s the results of what happened? Sure articles like this informative but what are we going to DO about it? Myself; a lot of the people I know shut their ears when I talk about these things. It’s like a veil of evil is surrounding the American people. The bible is there and our constitution is there and with some necessary amending to the consitution they are our strength. They are the foundation of America, and our wall against the tyranny we are experiencing now. Let’s start using them and rid ourselves of the hot air blowing from DC

  • Capitalist at Birth.

Thank you tony. Made me laugh and cry at the same time.

  • tony newbill

Obama is definitely a socialist , fascist and Marxist all rolled up into one because he tries to cater to all factions of society internationally , and we might as well group Bush into this model as well because he and his administration perpetuated the colluding parts of policies during his term that has brought the financial crisis we have had in the free markets too , and this is no different than how a Unregulated Mortgage Industry brought down the Financial markets this too will lead to a healthcare threat that could cause Isolation between nations and bring on a dollar collapse due to rejection of the one Key resource the USA still as in its supply to trade .

    Corporate-government conspiracy is fascism

  • tony newbill

Flashman I saw that too when the SCOTUS said Obama was a LIAR !!!!!! LOL LOL you gotta quit DROOLING its embarrassing to watch !!!!

  • Carlucci

And the hits just keep on comin’……

  • ronald easley

I agree 100%.It appears that Politicians want to vote a convenient vote, rather than sticking their principles. Why make a vote likely to increases our chances to get Obama Care?Ronald Easley

  • old hillbilly

Vote them out, speak out against them, make their life as miserable as they have made ours!

Alexander & Corker are two that need to go. Alexander is running again & there is a move against him. He just isn’t willing to fight – progressive genes make him part of the problem. Voting to extend the slaughter of solvency & freedom is real bad.

  • Texas Ride

CA, I know exactly what has happened to the “American people.” The people in this country have been overwhelmed by huge groups of different squabbling nationalities. Our country has been “Balkanized” by foreigners that all have their own agendas. Mostly their agendas are efforts to gaini political power and all the free benefits they can possiblity receive.

This is Agenda 21. The idea is to eliminate Patriotism and Sovereignity, country by country, to make each Continent squabbling masses of people with different cultures, languages and values. We see it right before our eyes as the regime refuses to protect the integrity of our demographics and the American culture. Government,in fact invites in large foreign groups from around the world. Our country and all that Americans hold dear is circling the drain. The marxist dogs squat and wait for the unsustainable influx to destroy what our forefathers worked to pass on to us. We have allowed our country be given away to any that wants it, without limitation.

  • maliktous

This is why I’m increasingly choosing the Libertarians, vice the Repulsivans and totally unacceptable Dummycrats. We should not put one more dime of public money into the Patient Perversion and Unaffordable Care Act; it should either be totally repealed or defunded to starve out and die. Pelosi should be either exiled for life from the USA or hanged from the nearest trolley pole.

  • Karolyn

This just makes me sick, and I don’t even have to eat GMOs!

  • nc

Sic, you are person I have been waiting for here!! The avowed true conservative! Please tell me those true conservatives who have served our country as President
on our way to what ever position YOU think we occupy today. A lot of Americans, including me, think we are the best over all nation in the world! Not perfect, but what country is??
That true conservative who would never raise taxes regardless of conditions: never get into entangling wars unless attacked! (false flags don’t count unless you have offered proof of such) and who has never created a penny of debt which is certainly not true conservative, don’t you think!

  • bychoosing

You made absolutely no sense…therefore you posted nonsense! What level of education do you achieve, btw?

  • Nadzieja Batki

I doubt it is in your nature to replicate the misery that politicians hand out to people. Politicians believe that they are doing good for people and you should be content with that, any other response is considered ingratitude. But their version of doing good is not what most people believe is good.

  • Nadzieja Batki

I don’t want the politicians voting their principles because the word has no meaning, it has become a stupid catch phrase. If you listen long enough to any politician you will find that they have no principles that resemble any that people with common sense have.

  • Dexter60

It is not a simple matter of RINOs, the infestation is dominating the corpse — what was once perhaps a two-party system. At 72 I can’t even remember when that was.
Time to consider taking no prisoners, we are not going to be throwing virgins into the valcano either.
They seem to have forgotten, if there is no law then there is no government.

  • http://personalliberty Alondra

Bychoosing, leave Nut Case alone. He is very distressed. Once he confessed that during his lifetime he was left by three wives. I just do not remember if the wives were his.

  • Michael J.

In order to have been “left by three wives”, he would have had to first obtain them. Which is a level of aquisition that the Negative Creep likely never acheived.

I believe he once stated that his trade was that of an Academia Indoctrinator. Or a member of campus staph (Staphylococcus that is), steadfast in assuring that everyone endure their “Fair Share”.

  • nc

bychoosing, would you like a shot at the questions?
1, What countries would you rather live in than the USA?
    2. Name the “true conservative” Presidents who got us where we are today?

Texas, in case if you missed the information about the White-Negro Kenyan Kriminal and Homosexual about his multi fraudulent Social Security Numbers:

Investigators, using Intelius, Lexis Nexis, Choice Point and other public records, found around 25 Social Security numbers connected with barack obama’s name.

“All told, there are 49 addresses and 16 different Social Security numbers listed for a person whose name is spelled “Barack Obama.” In some cases, the middle initial “H” is listed. If you were to expand the search to include closely related names such as: “Barac,” “Barak,” and “Barrack” Obama, you would find MORE THAN A DOZEN ADDITIONAL ADDRESSES AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.”

“Finally, the one Social Security number the Charlatan most frequently used, the one beginning with 042, is a number issued in Connecticut sometime during 1976-1977, yet there is no record of O’homobama ever living or working in Connecticut. Indeed, during this time period he would have been 15-16 years old and living in Hawaii at the time.”

Here is the link with details:

Texas, please do NOT forget to pass it on and repost on the other sites. Spread the TRUTH about the Kenyan Kriminal in the White House.

  • http://personalliberty Alondra

Texas, you MUST listen this if you did NOT yet. The investigator is talking about people, who helped to the Kenyan Kriminal bastard to commit crimes and cover them up.

At least 12 people were murdered to keep the Kenyan Kriminal’s QUEER pass hidden.
People in Kenya were killed as well.

And you will find WHY NBC is in bad with the Kenyan Kriminal.

You also will find about the Charlatan’s supposed “father” Obama Sr.’s lies to Harvard and he NEVER includes the bastard O’homo in his application as his son.

“For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.” – Jesus Christ (Mathew 10:26; Luke 8:17)

And how do you think: Would any HONEST man have MULTIPLE names:
Barack Hussein Obama a.k.a. Barry Soetoro a.k.a. Barrack Obama a.k.a. Barrack Dunham a.k.a. Barry Dunham a.k.a. Barak Mounir Ubayd a.k.a. HARRISON J. BOUNEL.

WashingtonD.C. is full of hypocrits? Who would have thought ?? You ask why the term honorable had to be written into law when addressing one of these individuals. It is simple the term prostitute was already taken; the difference being prostitution is an honorable profession. We have the best politicians money can buy starting with “barry the liar”

  • Tommy cunningham

I really don’t see how Obamacare can stand as this power is not delegated to federal goverment not prohibited by constitution , therefor it is reserved to states respectively or to the people, 10th amendment! It also violates the 9th amendment the enumeration of certain rights by the constitution cannot be construed to deny or disparages others retained by the people. We really need to FORCE our elected representatives to OBEY it!

  • Flashy

CB…i would love to read that paper. Your assumptions back in the 60′s to make your conclusionary statement would be interesting to read over. Yes, i am serious about that.

In the first quarter of the twentieth century, then, health insurance was little used and, for that matter, remained little needed. To put it bluntly, “the state of medical technology generally meant that very little could be done for many patients, and that most patients were treated in their homes”

Meanwhile, employer and employee contributions to health plans became exempt from taxes under the 1954 Internal Revenue Code Then came 1965, when Congress enacted Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare provided compulsory hospital insurance for people over the age of 65, as well as subsidized medical insurance via tax treatment.

What i see as the culmination of the bastardization of the health insurance model we found ourselves in, was the rejection in ’93 of Clinton’s plan to create a national health system. Instead, Congress (i.e. the beginnings of the radical extremists GOP movement) gave us CHIPS and increased the hold of the health insurance industry over us by creating the system where the medical industry was unchecked in pricing discrimination and gave it a monopoly subject only to what they could bleed from the pocketbooks of Americans. In other words, discretionary income decreased as health insurance took what change was left …
Today, the United States spends a higher percentage of its gross national product on health care than any other developed country. Our health care available to the populace ranks us in the Third World status. We rank alone among the few industrialized nations in the world that does not guarantee access to health care for its population.

I would proffer that the increased medical costs did NOT come from medicare and Medicaid, rather because of increased specialization, increased technology in testing and advanced surgical procedures, and the mandate over costs held in an iron fist by the health insurance companies. I proffer to you that specialization and monopolization are the main causes of the increased costs of medical care . There is no incentive to provide simple, less complex care. Doctors have no competition. Amongst themselves or outside the profession. Hspitals have no competition, and have no incentive to group technologies for a more efficient use. Each has the highest levels of CAT and MRI tech, each has testing facilities equal to the other. ironically, this makes for a highly inefficient model.

What i see as a solution? Have a public option. A minimum service level. Have it mandated to doctors that they do not have to accept public health patients, but if they exclude them, they have only private health insurance and self pay clientele … there is no cherry picking accepting public health one month and none the other so to speak. Mandate that any health insurance package begin with a simple standard…Pubic health option. Have it a true marketplace where unions and business cannot collaborate excluding a public health option. Take the extra monies otherwise spent on a private package should be an option to the employee…not to others to decide for them.

Those doctors who claim they’ll leave the profession? Yeah…sure. What else will they do? Sweep floors? Work at a stock brokerage? Give me a break. Jeesh. they’ll grumble and moan and cry and whine because true competition is introduced into the marketplace of health care. They now have to compete for patients. THAT is the essence of their more free ride.

    Yo CAB,

That’s great, I wrote one in an advanced finance class explaining why General Motors would go bankrupt sometime in the future because they were operating more on their credit line (as I compared GM to The US Government) and really had a poor return on both share holder equity and ROI.

My Professor said that I was fatalistic in my approach!

As I have observed in my limited teaching experience, sometimes the students get a fresh perspective that nails the facts of the subject.

    It’s a MUST SEE

Thumb Up and PASS it ON
    Sic semper evello mortem Tyrannis!

  • Bob666

    Yo Pork Futures,
Real credibility for the bastion of knowledge-You Tube.

Found this looking at your comical video, has as much credibility.

“Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst.”
