I feel we will not be able to stop this train with the present administration but I am wondering if we can turn this around if we elect a Republician president and congress

There is no question in my mind that the current administration and highly cooperative House has over reached. The treatment of GM, particularly the bond owners and shareholders is a good example. Personal wealth was confiscated and given to political supporters. From my portfolio to UAW members, who for many years of my working life, often outearned me.

The real objection I have to Washington these days is its underestimation of the citizenry. Cap and Trade (strictly a revenue generator for the government) presented as good for the environment. Obama’s constant use of the straw man argument: There are those who say, etc., but I say to them and so on. The health care legislation that budgets for bike paths, etc.

Washington is also full of what somebody aptly called poverty pimps, but what really sells in DC is class envy. We need to encourage ourselves to succeed and to enjoy what we earn, not envy others. Above all respect personal freedom. (including respect for personal property) Take the capital gains tax off stocks and other investments. Don’t tax dividends and interest. Get a balanced budget that allows the US to be the most powerful country in the world and the friendliest climate for capital formation and most of our problems would disappear.

I am tired of politicians that make a career of standing in front of an angry crowd and winning its support by promising more entitlements.

Liberals don’t understand the concept of “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a meal. If you teach a man to fish you feed him for life”. If you take money from those who work & earn and give it to those who don’t, you have not helped the latter but you have hurt the former.
