The Life Of The Survivalist

May 29, 2012 by

The Life Of The Survivalist
In the movie "2012," Woody Harrelson played survivalist Charlie Frost, a character depicted the way Hollywood typically portrays survivalists.

We’ve all seen the stereotypes depicted in TV and film: a lonely, semi-frustrated man with a knack for carpentry, barbecue and ammo reloading. He stockpiles guns and food in his secret log cabin in the hills near his home and awaits — even anxiously anticipates — the inevitable end of the world. He believes only he will survive, because everyone else is an idiot. Oh, and he’s “crazy.” All survivalists are.

But is this stereotype in any way honest? Does one have to take on all these cumbersome characteristics in order to be a survivalist, or does one choose to become a survivalist and suddenly is stricken with angry redneck’s disease?

I became a survivalist three years ago, and I can say without a doubt: One does not have to live the stereotype.

Survivalism is not about taking on a new identity; it is about being prepared. It is not about paranoia and fear. It is about awareness, responsibility and common sense.

The average American today is often so disconnected from his own survival and self-defense that when confronted with the idea of “preparedness” he becomes incredulous, as if the entire concept is so fantastical it should be buried in a book of folklore along with fairies and unicorns. The fact of the matter is: True survival will soon be the first thing on many Americans’ minds instead of the last. Every man, whether he be a farmer in the country or a yuppie office jockey in the suburbs, will have to decide immediately what he is going to do — mentally above all else — to be ready for what is coming.

Taking Responsibility For Your Own Life

A survivalist understands that until he is self-reliant, he cannot help others. His life is his own. If he fails to protect it, he has only himself to blame.

No survivalist expects others, including the government, to save him from peril. No true survivalist will find himself after an inflationary collapse of the dollar crying on a street corner demanding free food and a job. He knows he will not get those things anyway, that anything he does get will come only through his own struggle and sacrifice.

Being truly free is a double-edged sword. While the possibilities of life become endless, one must be capably independent in order to make use of those possibilities freedom presents. This means taking one’s destiny into one’s own hands. It means hardship and heartbreak. It means striving, never stopping, always moving forward through any obstacle regardless of how seemingly impassable. It means having the will to fight back against oppression that appears insurmountable. Your world begins and ends with you, and the same goes for your problems. You are the maker of your own epoch.

Independence Is Not The Same As Selfishness

While it is impossible to be a survivalist without breaking free of our dependence on society, this does not mean we leave society in the dust. Survivalists are very aware and insightful people. When confronted with the ignorance of the average person, we often reel in horror and disgust. We can become jaded and uncaring for those who do not see the trouble coming, taking on an attitude of complacency when confronted with the plight of those we tried to warn. The cold Darwinian mantle “Survival of the Fittest” can take hold of us and make us lose our humanity. Some of us may even stop trying to warn people.

“Let them find out the hard way,” we think. “What’s the point? If they haven’t figured it out by now, they never will.”

But this is pure rationality, not wisdom; and there is a very big difference. While the survivalist movement is often linked with the “objectivist” philosophies of Ayn Rand and such philosophies lean toward the “every man for himself attitude,” wisdom dictates that this is simply not practical. It is, at the very least, an exaggeration of the truth. Human beings have an inborn sense of individualism. Cultivating this is at the very core of survivalism. However, we also have an incredibly strong inborn sense of compassion and connectivity to our fellow man. It is a part of our conscience, and it is something we cannot escape. It is in the nature of those who are aware of danger to try to protect those who are not.

The survivalist is not an island, and there is something much greater at work in the universe than the narrow mechanics of pure logic. The human heart must be heeded, lest we face the dire consequences; and the heart tells us that all life has a meaning — even the life of a stupid, useless man.

Why We Fight

Saving our own lives and the lives of our family is, of course, of optimal importance, but this alone is not enough. What is worth living for? What is worth dying for? What is the point of it all?

Do I personally feel a great sense of “admiration” for the large part of humanity? Certainly not! Nine out of 10 people I meet on a daily basis are earth-shatteringly ignorant, self-absorbed, egotistical, self-centered, socially backward products of the pop-culture sewage pit.

But do we condemn them to death for this? No, we do not. Instead, we fight for them every day.

We do not fight because of what humanity is. Most of us despise what humanity is. We fight for what it could be. We fight for the very real possibility of something far better than what we now know — a world where individualism is the norm and where elite minorities of men bent on dominion are given no ground, no foothold, no quarter. We fight for a world where original thought is encouraged instead of crushed, logic and emotion are given equal importance instead of generically separated and compartmentalized, honesty and courage are rewarded instead of mocked, and the love of our fellow man is natural and real, instead of fabricated and forced for the sake of appearances.

We fight for a world we may never live to see, not because it is “reasonable,” but because every impulse at our very core tells us it is right. It is necessary. It is one of the reasons we are here, now. The survivalist is not just a self-reliant and insightful man of resolve; he is the levy upon which the ripping torrential waters of history collide. He is the wall that stays the tide. If the survivalist collapses, then nothing can hold; but if he remains, as solid as stone, then there is a chance for everyone.

Whether we like it, in times of pain the world turns to those men who have either the conviction and great strength of an honorable soul or those who are clever and evil enough to fake it. By becoming a survivalist in such times, one also inadvertently becomes a symbol to others. Ironically, by breaking free of the masses, in a sense we also become partly responsible for them. The example we set could determine the very direction of the future. The way of the survivalist becomes a steadfast light in the darkness, until finally, all men can see.

A successful survivalist will not fare very well alone. There are security issues and you need friends and neighbors who are like minded to pool resources with to multiply your chances of surviving. If you organize say like a whole neighborhood and everyone gets food and armed, alternative power, first aid kits and the like, then you can set up barter zones and neighborhood watches to stay secure. Security works better in numbers and getting through rough times needs company to see you through. When you are alone, you are vulnerable to the elements, always paranoid and if you get bit, sick, injured, you may not survive without help.

      Speaking of survival..

Could Your Shotgun Soon be Outlawed? Maybe, If the ATF Has Its Way

Why the DOJ/ATF push to ban shotguns?

Let’s take a look at the shotgun:
Shotguns are the optimal home defense weapon, almost the optimal all around hunting weapon, and almost anyone can shoot a shotgun, pinpoint laser like skill unneeded. Shotguns have an entire sport of skeet, that thousands and thousands of Americans enjoy every year, duck hunting and other animals every year — why why ban shot guns?

Shotguns have limited effective range, you would think DOJ/ATF would be happy about that. Shotguns are usually large easily seen weapons. Shotguns make a very loud sound when fired. Shot guns do not penetrate modern police body armor — you would think they would want you to own a shotgun
IMHO the reason DOJ/ATF want to ban Shotguns:
Robotic DRONES that’s right DRONES especially the small flying armed drones. Ever watch a good skeet shooter? They could blow 5 drones out the air as fast as they could pull the trigger. Yes even the ground based drones are vulnerable to the lowly shotgun, if you only get one shot on a drone put as much lead downwind as possible to disable the drone and laser like skill is not needed.

IMHO the DOJ/ATF want to render you helpless to drone attack, they have already stated they want to use swarms of small flying drones to control people – the shotgun makes these expensive flying weapons — VERY VULNERABLE.

One survivalist to another — fight this ban on shotguns.

        Dear FF,

Not only a very astute observation, but as well on target.
I will add this when in any from of close combat one of the things that fill your E – fear, is the sound of a SG snapping a round of – 00 B. Its real room cleaner.

ALSO: JFTR > You all may really wish to look into the following,
The UN is looking into taking over all of the Internet — both houses of CONGRESS are thinking that would be a really good idea.
{ You should be thinking its not such a GOOD IDEA.} If you get my drift.
Also keep in mind the push on taking away your fire sticks is only going to get more intence over the next number of months. Be thinking about what may happen during the summer events setting a solid blue print for such by way of “progressive thinking.” AKA – The Control Grid.
People OPEN your minds to the BIG picture for once and think way out side the BOX, its really {{ that close }} to the end game. Thats not paranoia its just the facts people, be aware of whats real and whats not if the mass media its not real its only HYPE. What I just posted in very REAL if you can just look at where, what, and when, you know the WHY if you have even a nano amount of gray matter.

        Peace and God’s Love.

      • blackwingA520

A ban on shotguns will never happen, too many people love their shotguns and would cause an uproar if not an outright war against the Government. I for one would not relinquish mine.

      • Wolfowicz Pearle

About the body armor: Google body armor and steel buckshot. You may find some of the controversy there.

      • TIME

        Dear Blackwing,

Thats just what was said about “Omen Care” too , please do keep in mind thats even with with 68% of the American population not on board with it. And 8% not sure what to think.
So just how strange it was passed……….By whom again?
        Oh yea thats right, CONGRESS.

Wake up my friend the sleepy time is long over, it can happen here, it will happen here NOW – its only a matter of TIME.
So will you just sit there and keep saying, It can’t happen, It will never happen, why is that again?
Oh yea, It must be that CONGRESS works for your best interest. NOT!
They don’t work for YOU! Let alone they never have in your lifetime.
You are only a bag of waste material in their eyes.

Do you really think they want you with GUNS of any kind?

If you said: yes, I ask: Oh Really why is that again?

        Peace and Love

      • MichaelSee

Shotguns against drones? Seriously? Predators generally fly at relatively high altitutes for surveillance and if they are armed launch rockets. They don’t come in and strafe people on the ground. Technically, it’s possible, but why?
Plus, Predators are like the size of Piper Cubs or larger. You’d have to be really lucky to take one out with a shotgun blast at any height. You’d probably have as much luck with a crossbow or even throwing a rock.
Yes, they are trying to work on smaller and smaller drones (bird or even bug-sized), but do you think a shotgun will be effective against a swarm of bird-drones? Think of Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The Birds”. I don’t doubt that they could eventually achieve this goal, but for now it’s in the realm of science fiction.

      • al

One survivalist to another, fight the ban on any weapon of defense, for they, the politicians and their ilk, will forever try to disarm the population.
        Freedom is never free….

You are thinking of the very day an emergency goes into affect. Yes, that day and the next week or two would mean that you should band together with your neighbors/friends for security as happened in New Orleans and in LA during the Rodney King riots. But if the event lasts longer than that, you will be as good or better off on your own. Again, look at NO. You can survive the first week or two by hiding; after that, you need to get as far away from people as possible – and you should be able to do that since many of those people causing the problem will now be dead or too weak to cause you serious problems.

      • JC

I’m in touch with a group of active and retired military, police, hunters and various outdoorsmen that have a few things figured out for themselves and their families. You bet community is everything. Choose your friends wisely.

    • Phil

You are right, none of us is prepared enought or have all the skills needed to survive alone. If it’s you against the world, the world will win, ever time. I have above average outdoor survival skills but I’m not a doctor, nurse, machanic, carpenter, etc. We need to be in groups of like minded people with as many different skills as possible.

    • MichaelSee

Your idea of organizing an entire neighborhood with food, weapons, training, etc. would be nice in a perfect world. But, with maybe 5% of people even thinking on preparing where in the world are you going to find a neighborhood like this? The only ones that I know of are deliberately assembled by Latter Day Saints. You could probably get a lot of good advice from any LDS friends that you might have.

  • Michael J.

Bolderdash, Those I have tried to enlighten look at me like I have two heads and then return their attention to Simpson re-runs. Just like during The Civil War when alegiances amongst family was sometimes split between North and South, our family is divided between awake conservatives and blissfully content entitlement sponges convinced that the freebies and American Idol will never end. These same blood relations who openly thwart my advice about things to come, will be the desperately needy when their government dole disappears down a rat hole.

I do go the extra mile in awakening family and the closet friends, but openly speaking of preparations amongst others is for naive fools, you
can not save everyone and some of those you have trusted without knowing may try to forcefully relieve you of your provisions once their empty bellies begin driving their thought processes. In a future
where you’ll be lucky enough to provide for yourself and the security
of a very few others that you can positively rely on, best to keep a low profile in this Reichstag reality that is unfolding.

That’s it for now, I have to go to work and pay taxes, millions of entitlement sponges/couch potatoes are counting on me.

    • JJM

Same here Michael. Being concerned for Family and Friends, I had been forwarding messages of Preparedness, Economy and Political Actions to a few dozen contacts including innocent suggestions to stockpile at least a month’s worth of meals in the pantry. 6 months ago I asked WHO wanted to remain on my AWARENESS list and received less than 10% responses. I will attempt to help those who act with, and show, some sense of responsibility but am likely to turn my back on those only living in the current moment of self pleasure.

  • GALT

    A business ad masquerading as?

First: “Survival of the fittest” is “Social Darwinism” invented by Herbert Spencer and an
    instigation for the eugenics movement.

Second: It becomes difficult to associate Rand with “every man” for himself, when the plot of “Atlas Shrugged” is about a group “producers”, refusing to be “enslaved” by what is
portrayed as a “parasitic government”…….and where “capitalism” is still “ownership of the means of production” and the intellectual ability to pull it off.

But you are correct, ideas are often “associated with” people or things, to which they have
no “association” what so ever…… you do here.

The problem with such high minded space filling rhetoric is that people often miss the point……..where the “The survivalist is not just a self-reliant and insightful man of resolve; he is the levy upon which the ripping torrential waters of history collide.”

Followed by the offer to “join”? Which makes sense… it becomes difficult to be remembered amidst those “torrents of history” unless one has a ‘group” to do the remembering? Of course, being so obtuse does carry its risks……someone might miss the point…….think they have a better approach and decide to do something about it?
    Like say, Mr Pearle?

    • DaveH

Speaking of “high minded space filling rhetoric”, Galt delivers the usual useless self-aggrandizing double-speak that we’ve all come to expect from him.

    • Michael J.

A closet liberal schill masquerading as?

FYI, “Survival of the fittest” is a truism that existed prior to who ever first thought or wrote about it.

In the same vein, our numerical system was not invented, it was discovered.

      • GALT

There does not seem to be a requirement that “truisms” be true, only that they are believed to be true….and that would seem to require the involvement of someone not
only thinking about it, but communicating it to the point that it becomes “accepted as true”.
There are self evident truths listed in the Declaration of Independence….which are
        NOT true……….

Whose numerical system is “ours”? Where was it discovered?

Clearly you need me to be one of THEM……while Mr. Smith needs you to “join”…..

As one of THEM, my point is that if one is seeking information regarding “survival” all of it can be gotten for free from any number of sources, including the local library which is information you have already paid for, as a taxpayer……and as for organizing locally,
this is pretty much something you have to do yourself……..

So other than the “non sequitors”, did you have a point?

      • DaveH

More double-speak from Galt. What else can we expect from an illogical fact-fabricating Liberal?

      • Michael J.

The sky is blue… Is that not true???
My personal definition of truism, is a truth that can be practically relied on without significant change.

By corupting your thinking processes with alternate reality theseis, your professed indoctrinators have sucessfully paralyzed your ability to make choices to effect change. (YOU DON’T KNOW WHETHER YOU’RE COMING OR GOING, THUS THE CIRCULAR GIBBERISH)

Shake loose the Accademons and see the world anew.

And as for the discoverers of the numerical system, think sand and the hump backed animals that carry men wearing bed linen as head gear.

      • GALT

Is the sky blue? Is it blue when it’s gray or red or black or orange or purple?

As noted truism’s have no obligation to the truth, nor any necessary connection to it,
but they do seem to require that people believe them to be true…….and the definition of a truism does contain the claim of being self evident…….

here are some synonyms: banality, bromide, chestnut, cliché (also cliche), groaner, homily, platitude, shibboleth, trope, commonplace

Related Words: conventional wisdom, party line, routine; inanity; generality, generalization, simplification; adage, proverb, saw, saying; old wives’ tale, stereotype

Mr Smith knows why he is here……it’s right in his bio…..I know why I am here, addressing Mr Smith…….

You don’t seem to understand either of these things, or why you are here addressing me,
unless you have an interest in the “results”……….which would be positive for Mr. Smith.
How are they “positive” for you?

        “A business ad masquerading as?”

        Now what was your point?

      • DaveH

The point is that you’re suffering delusions of intellect, Galt. And you’re obtuse.

  • Robert Bolino ClearEyes

I was married to a woman that lived threw the Korean War as a young child.
She told me they a [Group], will that all you have and when you try to stop them, they will kill you. You have to sleep some time. And thats when they will come.
Sorry to tell you a loner will not make it.
She told me you are better off with very little that way they the Group will leave you alone.
When you have nothing for them to steal.
Now remember this is from someone that lived it!

  • Tanya

Great article! We’re blessed to live in a part of the country where people tend to be self-reliant, so prepping doesn’t seem crazy to most.

  • miken25

I just want to object to the idea that Ayn Rand’s philosophy is an ‘every man for himself’ philosophy. Objectivism teaches how to incorporate a rational concern for others into one’s own selfishness. She called it rational self-interest or rational egoism. The concept of selfishness has for millennium lumped a rational concern for one’s self and an irrational concern for one’s self together and condemned both as selfish therefore evil. This is dishonest. Rand identified the fact that a rational self interest is man’s natural mode of existence and is most conducive to a civilized society where his rights to happiness are protected by law.

I urge all preppers and survivalists to read “The Virtue of Selfishness” for an in depth look at her actual morality of rational self-interest.

    • DaveH

Everybody is selfish. Some of us want material wealth. Some of us want emotional comfort. Some of us crave attention from our fellow people. But we all do what we think is in our best interests.

      • miken25

Dave H. You’re right that everybody does what they think is in their best interest. Hitler, Stalin, Mao et al all thought they were acting in their own interest too. Theirs was an irrational self interest instead of an rational self interest. Self interest is not a subjective interest where you get to kill and rob people because you think it is in your interest. The founders wanted to set up a society where a rational self interest was rewarded, that is respected, while irrational self interest–robbing and killing–were punished, and they used the concept of rights to do it. Unfortunately, our educated class no longer respects rights and they’ve moved the idea of rights from the individual to the collective, the group. Now your self interest can only be determined by whatever group you belong to. It’s the leaders of those groups who vie for government power to force the service of their needs on the rest of society. It’s everyone against everyone because nobody has rights anymore.

It appears that Mr.Galt has an attitude of cynicism when confronted with any opinion other than his own, which in and of itself is reflected with confusion and derision by the manner in which he writes! According to the National Academy of Psychiatry such people are regarded as narcissistic, and as such they can never gravitate their reasoning toward any opinion other than their own. It is regretful that such people as Mr.Galt will not heed any forewarning by anyone especially while the current economic climate around them appears safe and the Government promises appear workable. However, there are many voices of reason in positions of authority especially in the financial sector, who are pointing at the flaws in the system and the economic catastrophe looming just ahead due to spiraling debt and the move by foreign countries away from petrol-dollars to basket currencies, plus there is the added damage of the IMF and World Bank accepting China’s Yuan as an SDR before May of 2013. There is an old saying, ” An ounce of prevention, is worth more than a pound of cure “. To people like Mr.Galt I say take caution in your egotistical desire to use compound dichotomous reasoning in every message or article of free press that you oppose based on your own confused reasoning habits.

I hear all this philosophy being spouted about here, but the real common sence is most people are closed minded and the Government likes it that way. The American People have been so pre-programmed that they see almost nothing wrong even when the world is falling apart around them. They believe Big Bother will come and save the day. Well Big Brother is broke and he (The Government) will not be able to save the day for anyone but the Elites at the top of Government (Obama, Holder, etc). And when it Hits the Fan they will vanish into thin air and not be anyplace to be found. The U.S. Government has several well socked Islands around the world and the Elite will just leave us to fight among ourselves and vanish. And the one’s that will survive this world collapse are the Preppers. We have the food, the Guns, the Ammo, and the knowledge to make it through. And when all is said and done, Preppers will be the one’s that will rebuild America, and most Preppers hold the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Right very close to their hearts and thats the foundation they will rebuild on. The Communist/Democrats like Obama, Hold, Ried, Brown will be nothing but a bad memory from a past time of greed and hate. Preppers love ther families, friends, and the real American way of life, not this fake, ME, ME, ME way of life put unpon us by the Liberal/Progressive/Communist Media. The Liberal/Communist know that the American People are starting to wake-up (millions already have and are ready) and this scares the sh*t out of them. Real Americans (Patriots) are the REAL 99% not the Union Communist thugs from the left running around starting trouble and constantly lying and stealing from the American People. Preppers are smart and ready we research and watch and we try to inform. Most people don’t want to hear it! I come from a big family and none of the my bothers or sister believe any of this. They live in there own little worlds and when it hits the fan they will not survive. It pains my to make that statement and hurts me deeply but it’s true. GOD help us all, Please…!!!

    • USPatriotOne

Sorry, I left out the Key to all rebuilding of AMERICA – GOD, JESUS, and the HOLY SPIRIT. With out the one true GOD we have nothing to build upon.

      • Lois

Until this country turns back to God’s Word, laws, principles, the nation will continue to decline. 2Chronicles 7:14 We, as a people, have been forced, mandated into political correctness.

Our government continues to open our gates to peoples we have nothing in common. We should STOP all immigration from countries we have nothing in common. God warned us there will be those that will want to steal from us.

We all should try to be responsible for ourselves, prepare for ourselves/family, yet look out for our neighbors that are disabled.

God, family and friends are the true keys to happiness.

        God bless!

      • TIME

        Dear PO and Lois,

Both well done post of what I agree with you both on many levels. Ones love of God as the Creator is a special gift.
Please do understand that we are broken into groups, as best as I can find there are as follows: ( the Cult of the Moon) and { the Cult of the Sun}.

Enoch, Noah, and Moses are were within the Cult of the Moon, How odd is it that Moses noted after his meeting with GOD, that the earth was not only ROUND, but was noted as the BLUE Planet? Keeping in mind the knoledge the earth was round was only known after the 1600′s. Or that the earth was the BLUE Planet was found to be truth in the late 1950′s.

The Christ is from the Cult of the Sun / Son,

I don’t have all the answers as to how or why or even when and oddly the forms of religions that we know of today all fail to explain any of this to its followers.
I do clearly understand that we are fragmented at best with our knoledge of where we fit in.
Be all that as it may the LOVE of ones Creator is a fine center point to have as a strong base of faith from what we extend LOVE and kindness to our fellow humans.
As such we don’t have an inherent nature to kill one an other, ( thats saddly fostered by Man to control other’s.)

        Just a few thoughts……..

Totally agree… sum it all up,be ready,be well prepared,we all will only get “one” shot at surviving and rebuilding…drop the BS,and get on with the preperations.

I too come from a large family and it pains me when no one cares to listen and prepare for what is about to happen. To think our lives and the way of life will be status quo is absurbed. I do also pray for my loved ones all we can do is hope and pray they wake up .god bless americq

Brandon, you write” we fight for a world we may never live to see, not because it is ‘reasonable” but because every impulse at our very core tells us it is right! It is necessary.”
This reminds me so much of the mentality of the Japanese soldiers dropped off the Pacific Islands to die, not because it was “reasonable” but because they had reached a mind state that is ‘WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO” They had aslo been told that capture would result in death, which was a lie! How much of what makes one take to the woods as a survivalist might not be true??? Isn’t everyone capable of irrational thinking at times? Even , or especially, the ones who always see themselves as always being right?

    • 45caliber

The real problem is that the people who live on and work for the government are certain that they KNOW the only real way to survive – depend upon the government. You are a good example of that. Many Germans in WWII believed the same thing. That was one reason they were fighting everyone else. Many even today believe the same thing there – many of Hitler’s “reforms” are still in place and still being followed there. You stated yourself that you worked for the government all your life. Why do you believe that everyone who doesn’t believe your way is wrong? Surely not because you were indoctrinated (another name for “brainwashed”) into believeing that.

  • John Gaver

What most stories about survivalists fail to mention or even acknowledge is the fact that there are two types of survivalists. I call them the “Galts” and “Everyone Else.”

When you’re attacked, your choices boil down to only three things – Fight, Flight, or Surrender. Of course, the best way to not lose a battle is to not be in one. But when those without sufficient means are attacked, flight is not an option. They must fight (survivalist) or surrender (sheep). But when those with means are attacked, they alone have that other option – Flight.

As the government continues to punish success, more and more of those with means are already taking that ultimate survival option. Successful US citizens, like Eduardo Saverin, are going Galt. They’re leaving the USA in huge numbers, as the key part of their “survival” plan and this exacerbates the situation for the rest of us.

Part of our survival plan should be to try to get the government to stop punishing success, so this nation stops hemorrhaging producers. If we can convince those who have left to return and others not to leave, then things will turn around and we won’t need any other survival plan.

    • 45caliber

You are right. Many are leaving the US to survive elsewhere. Congress is now considering a bill that would make it illegal to take wealth away from our country. The President is already in court trying to insist that he has the right to make that an order. You can go but you can’t take anything with you. They don’t want those people to leave because 1) they lose control over them and 2) they know the US can’t survive long if all those who work to make that wealth leave the country.

John, those who “left’ our country did so in search of the “quicker easier dollar”! They will return HERE when the “quicker easier dollar” is available here! It’s called human nature! It’s also a form of greed! MORE FOR ME AND SCREW THEE!!
“HERE’ is now a country locked down because one party feels that the rich AND BIG COMPANIES should not pay more taxes! Not because it will make them no longer rich OR INCAPABLE OF OPERATING but because it’s a plan the OTHER SIDE wants for more money to pay on our bills!BILLS CREATED BY BOTH PARTIES!!! WE will vote NO on EVERYTHING YOU WANT BECAUSE IF IT’S SUCCESSFUL WE WILL LOSE OUR CHANCE TO PUT AMOTHER “BUSH LITE” LIKE ROMNEY IN THE WHITE HOUSE!
America really needs that, don’t we folks?? The dying in the wrong country for the wrong reasons and the loss of jobs and homes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Drones Shot Down Over Texas

“With spy drones now commercially available for less than $1,000 dollars that are barely any different from the ones being used by police departments to spy on the public, Jones and the Steiners made short work of the devices during filming.

This was an exercise in pushing the message that the use of surveillance drones in U.S. skies must be politically shot down because it represents a complete violation of the 4th amendment right to privacy.”

I constantly question my survivalist mindset. I always come back to two questions. What if I am right? What if I am wrong? My mindset will greatly enhance my life if I am right, and only slightly degrade it if I am wrong. So I continue.

    • nc

Rick, were you always a survivalist or did you ‘decide” to become a survivalist? Will your children have an opportunity to “decide ” on their own or will they have to sacrafice part or all of their life to live apart from others because daddy says that’s the way it is going to be? Are you going to leave a six year old at home alone while you and mom and the others go practice “survival” because the 6 year old has “decided” he would rather play little league baseball than learn how to kill others who want your hoarded food? Just asking???

      • Nadzieja Batki

By your own posting you are calling yourself a human failure. All you are capable of doing is baiting and mocking people.
According to you no one must know things that you don’t know or will ever know. No one must have skills that you don’t have or will ever acquire.

      • 45caliber

A good father wouldn’t have to ask these questions. After all, a good father’s responsibility is to protect and care for his family as well as teach his children to do the same so the child can do take care of his/her own family when grown. That’s why a child doesn’t get kicked out on its own when born – it had no ability or knowledge to make those decisions and carry them out.

What you are doing is assuming that the child has the right to make up his/her own mind on what to do or not. And, by trying to encourage them to do that, you are taking away their ability to survive on their own. But then, you expect big government to make those decisions for the child instead of the parents, don’t you?

  • FireMall

I just got this EM , It seems to mirror the Survivalist theory to the Tee.

I don’t know if this actually happened at Texas A&M’s commencement or not. Yet.

Texas A&M Commencement Address – The students gave a standing ovation; the faculty were deathly silent!

Neal Boortz is a Texan, a lawyer, a Texas Aggie (Texas A&M) graduate, and now a nationally syndicated talk show host from Atlanta . His commencement address to the graduates of a recent Texas A&M class is far different from what either the students or the faculty expected. Whether you agree or disagree, his views are certainly thought provoking.

“I am honored by the invitation to address you on this august occasion. It’s about time. Be warned, however, that I am not here to impress you; you’ll have enough smoke blown up your bloomers today. And you can bet your tassels I’m not here to impress the faculty and administration. You may not like much of what I have to say, and that’s fine. You will remember it though. Especially after about 10 years out there in the real world. This, it goes without saying, does not apply to those of you who will seek your careers and your fortunes as government employees.

This gowned gaggle behind me is your faculty. You’ve heard the old saying that those who can – do. Those who can’t – teach. That sounds deliciously insensitive. But there is often raw truth in insensitivity, just as you often find feel-good falsehoods and lies in compassion. Say good-bye to your faculty because now you are getting ready to go out there and do. These folks behind me are going to stay right here and teach.

By the way, just because you are leaving this place with a diploma doesn’t mean the learning is over. When an FAA flight examiner handed me my private pilot’s license many years ago, he said, “Here, this is your ticket to learn.” The same can be said for your diploma. Believe me, the learning has just begun.

Now, I realize that most of you consider yourselves Liberals. In fact, you are probably very proud of your liberal views. You care so much.

You feel so much. You want to help so much. After all, you’re a compassionate and caring person, aren’t you now? Well, isn’t that just so extraordinarily special. Now, at this age, is as good a time as any to be a liberal; as good a time as any to know absolutely everything. You have plenty of time, starting tomorrow, for the truth to set in.

Over the next few years, as you begin to feel the cold breath of reality down your neck, things are going to start changing pretty fast… Including your own assessment of just how much you really know.

So here are the first assignments for your initial class in reality: Pay attention to the news, read newspapers, and listen to the words and phrases that proud Liberals use to promote their causes. Then, compare the words of the left to the words and phrases you hear from those evil, heartless, greedy conservatives.

From the Left you will hear “I feel.” >From the Right you will hear “I think.” From the Liberals you will hear references to groups — The Blacks, the Poor, the Rich, the Disadvantaged, the Less Fortunate. >From the Right you will hear references to individuals. On the Left you hear talk of group rights; on the Right, individual rights.

That about sums it up, really: Liberals feel. Liberals care. They are pack animals whose identity is tied up in group dynamics. Conservatives think — and, setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual.

Liberals feel that their favored groups have enforceable rights to the property and services of productive individuals. Conservatives, I among them I might add, think that individuals have the right to protect their lives and their property from the plunder of the masses.

In college you developed a group mentality, but if you look closely at your diplomas you will see that they have your individual names on them. Not the name of your school mascot, or of your fraternity or sorority, but your name. Your group identity is going away. Your recognition and appreciation of your individual identity starts now.

If, by the time you reach the age of 30, you do not consider yourself to be a conservative, rush right back here as quickly as you can and apply for a faculty position. These people will welcome you with open arms. They will welcome you, that is, so long as you haven’t developed an individual identity. Once again you will have to be willing to sign on to the group mentality you embraced during the past four years.

Something is going to happen soon that is going to really open your eyes. You’re going to actually get a full time job!

You’re also going to get a lifelong work partner. This partner isn’t going to help you do your job. This partner is just going to sit back and wait for payday. This partner doesn’t want to share in your effort, but in your earnings.

Your new lifelong partner is actually an agent; an agent representing a strange and diverse group of people; an agent for every teenager with an illegitimate child; an agent for a research scientist who wanted to make some cash answering the age-old question of why monkeys grind their teeth. An agent for some poor demented hippie who considers herself to be a meaningful and talented artist, but who just can’t manage to sell any of her artwork on the open market.

Your new partner is an agent for every person with limited, if any, job skills, but who wanted a job at City Hall. An agent for tin-horn dictators in fancy military uniforms grasping for American foreign aid. An agent for multi-million dollar companies who want someone else to pay for their overseas advertising. An agent for everybody who wants to use the unimaginable power of this agent’s for their personal enrichment and benefit.

That agent is our wonderful, caring, compassionate, oppressive government. Believe me, you will be awed by the unimaginable power this agent has. Power that you do not have. A power that no individual has, or will have. This agent has the legal power to use force, deadly force to accomplish its goals.

You have no choice here. Your new friend is just going to walk up to you, introduce itself rather gruffly, hand you a few forms to fill out, and move right on in. Say hello to your own personal one ton gorilla. It will sleep anywhere it wants to.

Now, let me tell you, this agent is not cheap. As you become successful it will seize about 40% of everything you earn. And no, I’m sorry, there just isn’t any way you can fire this agent of plunder, and you can’t decrease its share of your income. That power rests with him, not you.

So, here I am saying negative things to you about government. Well, be clear on this: It is not wrong to distrust government. It is not wrong to fear government. In certain cases it is not even wrong to despise government for government is inherently evil. Yes, a necessary evil, but dangerous nonetheless, somewhat like a drug. Just as a drug that in the proper dosage can save your life, an overdose of government can be fatal.

Now let’s address a few things that have been crammed into your minds at this university. There are some ideas you need to expunge as soon as possible. These ideas may work well in academic environment, but they fail miserably out there in the real world.

First is that favorite buzz word of the media and academia: Diversity! You have been taught that the real value of any group of people – be it a social group, an employee group, a management group, whatever – is based on diversity. This is a favored liberal ideal because diversity is based not on an individuals abilities or character, but on a person’s identity and status as a member of a group. Yes, it’s that liberal group identity thing again.

Within the great diversity movement group identification – be it racial, gender based, or some other minority status – means more than the individuals integrity, character or other qualifications.

Brace yourself. You are about to move from this academic atmosphere where diversity rules, to a workplace and a culture where individual achievement and excellence actually count. No matter what your professors have taught you over the last four years, you are about to learn that diversity is absolutely no replacement for excellence, ability, and individual hard work. From this day on every single time you hear the word “diversity” you can rest assured that there is someone close by who is determined to rob you of every vestige of individuality you possess.

We also need to address this thing you seem to have about “rights.” We have witnessed an obscene explosion of so-called “rights” in the last few decades, usually emanating from college campuses.

You know the mantra: You have the right to a job. The right to a place to live. The right to a living wage. The right to health care. The right to an education. You probably even have your own pet right – the right to a Beemer for instance, or the right to have someone else provide for that child you plan on downloading in a year or so.

Forget it. Forget those rights! I’ll tell you what your rights are. You have a right to live free, and to the results of 60% -75% of your labor. I’ll also tell you have no right to any portion of the life or labor of another.

You may, for instance, think that you have a right to health care. After all, President Obama said so, didn’t he? But you cannot receive health-care unless some doctor or health practitioner surrenders some of his time – his life – to you. He may be willing to do this for compensation, but that’s his choice. You have no “right” to his time or property. You have no right to his or any other person’s life or to any portion thereof.
You may also think you have some “right” to a job; a job with a living wage, whatever that is. Do you mean to tell me that you have a right to force your services on another person, and then the right to demand that this person compensate you with their money? Sorry, forget it. I am sure you would scream if some urban outdoors men (that would be “homeless person” for those of you who don’t want to give these less fortunate people a romantic and adventurous title) came to you and demanded his job and your money.

The people who have been telling you about all the rights you have are simply exercising one of theirs – the right to be imbeciles. Their being imbeciles didn’t cost anyone else either property or time. It’s their right, and they exercise it brilliantly.

By the way, did you catch my use of the phrase “less fortunate” a bit ago when I was talking about the urban outdoors men? That phrase is a favorite of the Left. Think about it, and you’ll understand why.

To imply that one person is homeless, destitute, dirty, drunk, spaced out on drugs, unemployable, and generally miserable because he is “less fortunate” is to imply that a successful person – one with a job, a home and a future – is in that position because he or she was “fortunate.” The dictionary says that fortunate means “having derived good from an unexpected place.” There is nothing unexpected about deriving good from hard work. There is also nothing unexpected about deriving misery from choosing drugs, alcohol, and the street.
If the Liberal Left can create the common perception that success and failure are simple matters of “fortune” or “luck,” then it is easy to promote and justify their various income redistribution schemes. After all, we are just evening out the odds a little bit. This “success equals luck” idea the liberals like to push is seen everywhere. Former Democratic presidential candidate Richard Gephardt refers to high-achievers as “people who have won life’s lottery.” He wants you to believe they are making the big bucks because they are lucky. It’s not luck, my friends. It’s choice. One of the greatest lessons I ever learned was in a book by Og Mandino, entitled, “The Greatest Secret in the World.” The lesson? Very simple: “Use wisely your power of choice.”

That bum sitting on a heating grate, smelling like a wharf rat? He’s there by choice. He is there because of the sum total of the choices he has made in his life. This truism is absolutely the hardest thing for some people to accept, especially those who consider themselves to be victims of something or other – victims of discrimination, bad luck, the system, capitalism, whatever. After all, nobody really wants to accept the blame for his or her position in life. Not when it is so much easier to point and say, “Look! He did this to me!” than it is to look into a mirror and say, “You S. O. B.! You did this to me!”

The key to accepting responsibility for your life is to accept the fact that your choices, every one of them, are leading you inexorably to either success or failure, however you define those terms.

Some of the choices are obvious: Whether or not to stay in school. Whether or not to get pregnant. Whether or not to hit the bottle. Whether or not to keep this job you hate until you get another better-paying job. Whether or not to save some of your money, or saddle yourself with huge payments for that new car.

Some of the choices are seemingly insignificant: Whom to go to the movies with. Whose car to ride home in. Whether to watch the tube tonight, or read a book on investing. But, and you can be sure of this, each choice counts. Each choice is a building block – some large, some small. But each one is a part of the structure of your life. If you make the right choices, or if you make more right choices than wrong ones, something absolutely terrible may happen to you. Something unthinkable. You, my friend, could become one of the hated, the evil, the ugly, the feared, the filthy, the successful, the rich.

The rich basically serve two purposes in this country. First, they provide the investments, the investment capital, and the brains for the formation of new businesses. Businesses that hire people. Businesses that send millions of paychecks home each week to the un-rich.
Second, the rich are a wonderful object of ridicule, distrust, and hatred. Few things are more valuable to a politician than the envy most Americans feel for the evil rich.

Envy is a powerful emotion. Even more powerful than the emotional minefield that surrounded Bill Clinton when he reviewed his last batch of White House interns. Politicians use envy to get votes and power. And they keep that power by promising the envious that the envied will be punished: “The rich will pay their fair share of taxes if I have anything to do with it.” The truth is that the top 10% of income earners in this country pays almost 50% of all income taxes collected. I shudder to think what these job producers would be paying if our tax system were any more “fair.”

You have heard, no doubt, that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Interestingly enough, our government’s own numbers show that many of the poor actually get richer, and that quite a few of the rich actually get poorer. But for the rich who do actually get richer, and the poor who remain poor .. there’s an explanation — a reason. The rich, you see, keep doing the things that make them rich; while the poor keep doing the things that make them poor.

Speaking of the poor, during your adult life you are going to hear an endless string of politicians bemoaning the plight of the poor. So, you need to know that under our government’s definition of “poor” you can have a $5 million net worth, a $300,000 home and a new $90,000 Mercedes, all completely paid for. You can also have a maid, cook, and valet, and a million in your checking account, and you can still be officially defined by our government as “living in poverty.” Now there’s something you haven’t seen on the evening news.

How does the government pull this one off? Very simple, really. To determine whether or not some poor soul is “living in poverty,” the government measures one thing — just one thing. Income.

It doesn’t matter one bit how much you have, how much you own, how many cars you drive or how big they are, whether or not your pool is heated, whether you winter in Aspen and spend the summers in the Bahamas, or how much is in your savings account. It only matters how much income you claim in that particular year. This means that if you take a one-year leave of absence from your high-paying job and decide to live off the money in your savings and checking accounts while you write the next great American novel, the government says you are living in poverty.”

This isn’t exactly what you had in mind when you heard these gloomy statistics, is it? Do you need more convincing? Try this. The government’s own statistics show that people who are said to be “living in poverty” spend more than $1.50 for each dollar of income they claim. Something is a bit fishy here. Just remember all this the next time Charles Gibson tells you about some hideous new poverty statistics.

Why has the government concocted this phony poverty scam? Because the government needs an excuse to grow and to expand its social welfare programs, which translates into an expansion of its power. If the government can convince you, in all your compassion, that the number of “poor” is increasing, it will have all the excuse it needs to sway an electorate suffering from the advanced stages of Obsessive-Compulsive Compassion Disorder.

I’m about to be stoned by the faculty here. They’ve already changed their minds about that honorary degree I was going to get. That’s OK, though. I still have my PhD. in Insensitivity from the Neal Boortz Institute for Insensitivity Training. I learned that, in short, sensitivity sucks. It’s a trap. Think about it – the truth knows no sensitivity. Life can be insensitive. Wallow too much in sensitivity and you’ll be unable to deal with life, or the truth, so get over it.

Now, before the dean has me shackled and hauled off, I have a few random thoughts.

    * You need to register to vote, unless you are on welfare. If you are living off the efforts of others, please do us the favor of sitting down and shutting up until you are on your own again.

    * When you do vote, your votes for the House and the Senate are more important than your vote for President. The House controls the purse strings, so concentrate your awareness there.

    * Liars cannot be trusted, even when the liar is the President of the country. If someone can’t deal honestly with you, send them packing.
    * Don’t bow to the temptation to use the government as an instrument of plunder. If it is wrong for you to take money from someone else who earned it — to take their money by force for your own needs — then it is certainly just as wrong for you to demand that the government step forward and do this dirty work for you.

    * Don’t look in other people’s pockets. You have no business there. What they earn is theirs. What you earn is yours. Keep it that way. Nobody owes you anything, except to respect your privacy and your rights, and leave you the hell alone.

    * Speaking of earning, the revered 40-hour workweek is for losers. Forty hours should be considered the minimum, not the maximum. You don’t see highly successful people clocking out of the office every afternoon at five. The losers are the ones caught up in that afternoon rush hour. The winners drive home in the dark.

    * Free speech is meant to protect unpopular speech. Popular speech, by definition, needs no protection.

    * Finally (and aren’t you glad to hear that word), as Og Mandino wrote,

    1. Proclaim your rarity. Each of you is a rare and unique human being.
    2. Use wisely your power of choice.
    3. Go the extra mile, drive home in the dark.

Oh, and put off buying a television set as long as you can. Now, if you have any idea at all what’s good for you, you will get out of here and never come back. Class dismissed”

      Thanks for posting this FireMall.

Nad, I went to school or worked at public work for almost 65 years on my own skills and enjoyed every minute of it except for the death of loved ones> I am retired and have enough or a comfortable life with the love of my children, golf, fishing and friends. If that makes me “the human failure” that you see me as, I plead guilty!
I love sitting here and picking at the same absurdities in people that you see in me!
I have been called a paid commie muslim shill!’ I have never been paid a dime or hired to be here! I have never known a true communist or even seen a real Muslim Mosque much less going into one! I wouldn’t mind it though because I love doing new things! I am a liberal by your definition since I am concerned about the lives of all of our citizens in this great nation of ours even if it cost me a little more!!!!!! I sleep well at night!

You said, “… put off buying a television…”

I have one and I enjoy watching movies or playing on it with PlayStation. BUT … it is not connected to an antenna. My wife isn’t totally happy with it that way, but we haven’t had an antenna now for about five years. She enjoys the movies but she also enjoys reading books when the TV isn’t on. We get most of our news from internet since we can access more than the MSM and can usually get a better idea of what REALLY is happening that way. How many times have you seen a comment on some place like that about some story where the writer says, “I live ten (or whatever) miles from there. It didn’t happen that way …”

    • nc

      Fire you say> “Conservatives think—- and setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual.” There in lies the rub;
The theocracy crowds drives the conservative fortunes in the most conservative of our parties that ‘stands a chance of getting elected” The “theos” must be satisfied by conservative “talk” from the candidates that does not set well with the independent voters in the fall! Watch Romney dance once he gets the nomination. He’ll be headed to the left faster than a cat can lick its’ butt!
Also, where in the Constitution do you “conservatives idivduals” find you are no more ” Individual” than a corporation? Do you enjoy the competition of the Democrat corporate money as much as the aid of Republican corporate money?? Really ?? Don’t you really wish it was only Republican corporate money that is as “individual” as you??

Those poor smelly wharf rats are all sitting there because of “choice”? They could all be CEOs at birth? Why haven’t they, in all of history, all made it to the top??? Are some born with limited mental ability? Limited education propects? Limited access to money? Are all of those who “drive home after dark” trully wonderful people who deserve to be admired simply because they drive home after dark in big cars?? It is always smarter to worship the things and not the people! Protect the things but not the people!

      • 45caliber

They could all be CEO’s at birth? Where on earth did you come up with that idea? Even millionares don’t normally step directly to a CEO’s position. When they do, the business usually goes bankrupt quicker than not. It takes experience and knowledge to be a good CEO, not luck of birth. I think you missed the entire point of this article.

      • Mark Are Reynolds

So what you are stating above is that you lived your life as a glorified welfare recipient, living off the labor of others with your paycheck taken at gunpoint from someone else because you were too chicken (expletive deleted) to just go out and be a thief. Sounds like quite the life for some psychopath. You should be very proud of your accomplishment. I bet you got to live in a nice big house and drive fancy new cars too don’t you. Liberals or whatever the hell you people really are make me want to puke. And no doubt whatever your “public” job was could have been just as well filled by the private sector where the people who work aren’t sucking the life out of their fellow man that then claim to be helping with their swat teams and force. Climb back under your rock…

      • 45caliber

Basically, yes. He stated here somewhere that he spent his entire live on the government payroll.

    • 45caliber

Whether Neil Boortz or someone else wrote this, it is very well done. But there are a few things that he missed. (There always is.)

      1. Life is not fair. It never is. That’s why we have the law (not theory) of the Survival of the Fittest.

      2. Never expect life to be fair. Sudden expenses always comes at the worst time – usually in groups. You absolutely need to be somewhere on time? Traffic problems will slow you down. If that doesn’t happen, your car won’t start. If the AC breaks at home, it will be during hot weather – and the refrigerator or washer or dryer will also break down – particularly if you are sick.

      3. Your job as a human is to plan for and expect these problems. Don’t be surprised and shocked when they occur. They always occur. A survivalist is a planner who plans for things most people don’t expect and plan for.

      4. Plan what you can do if one of them occurs ahead of time. The more you have planned, the more likely that you will be able to handle the problems. It doesn’t mean that it will occur but if it does you will be ready. When the earthquake in LA happened, a man driving a semi lived when it went through one of the suddenly missing raised highway sections and fell twenty feet. He had planned, if that ever occurred, to lunge to the side and down into the area where the passenger would rest his feet. It occured, he did, and he survived. If he had remained in the driver’s seat, he would have been crushed by the steering wheel. Since he had already made his plan, he acted without having to think about it.

      5. Finally, remember a comment reputed to be by Ben Franklin: “If a man, when young, isn’t a lilberal he has no heart. If a man, when old, isn’t a conservative he has no brain.”

I prefer the brain. You live longer and have a better life.

No question about it the food will have to be confiscated , and distributed in a equatable fashion . Remember the Ukaine . It was the Ukainian farmers that starved to death . Even right now the Ukaine is still being depopulated . The whole country of Ukraine is declining in population faster than any country in the world . For a net loss of 30% of their population predicted due in the near future . This is kinda comicial considering the Ukraine is classified as the best farmland in the world . Obviosly captalism is not any more intereseted at deviding up the resources than the old communists were .

    • 45caliber

Where did you get the idea that the Ukrane has capitalism? It is still basically socialist and will remain that way as long as they still have the same people in office that were in office when Communism fell. I’m talking about the bureaucrats. They believe if taking things and “sharing” them. The moment there is a problem, they will immediately do just that. If there was true capitalism there, the farmers would be doing quite well as they could sell their crops. Instead, the government takes them. That is NOT capitalism.

  • 45caliber

A lot of people insist that, in a real emergency, they would share what they have. That is fine for the first week or two IF the emergency is then over. For example, a tornado or hurricane goes through; you can share because you KNOW that in a week or so they will be hauling in more food, water, etc. But NO is an example of it lasting longer (due to the flooding) and in that case, if you do give away everything you will have nothing left for yourself. And if YOU are the only one who can insure everyone else also lives, you cannot allow yourself to die with them if you hope to save any of them.

A true survivalist is not someone who prepares for the three or four days without power or the week or so after a bad storm. He is the person who tries to prepare for months without aid. His job is to see that he and his family is prepared for that time and is able to survive it when so many more can’t.

    Can you do that?

  • terris

What, exactly, do you believe is going to happen? And what facts have led you to believe it?

A survivalist is someone who believes that they are prepared to survive, whether it is a man made disaster, or a natural disaster (which is far, far more likely to happen).

I am not arrogant enough to presume to know the future, and I have little patience for those who do pressume to know the future.

    • 45caliber

What do you believe is going to happen? Does it matter? A survivalist is one who plans for things that may never happen – and he will tell you so. That includes the common sort of things you believe will happen. But – if they do happen – he wants to be ready for it. You may think he is crazy for doing that, since you don’t believe that what he thinks might happen will happen. But, since it is his own time and money, who cares if he gets ready for it or not? Noah’s neighbors believed he was crazy for building the ark since they KNEW it wouldn’t flood. He was ready and survived. They weren’t and didn’t. It wasn’t the sudden flood that killed most of them, anyway, probably. It was the floating around on a roof top or small boat without food or good water that did them in.

45, do you believe the biblical stories about the stick to snake, water to wine, the parting of the waters, the man being swallowed and puked up by a big fish still alive, a man living to over 900 years old, people going to heaven in firey chariots, and a man blowing a horn and walls falling down! AND A FLOOD THAT LEFT US WITH JUST TWO OF MOST ANAIMALS AND SOME HORNY JEWS WHO REPOPULATED THE ENTIRE EARTH IN LESS THAN 4000 YEARS? REALLY??

      • nc

      • 45caliber

If you DON’T believe the story about the flood, you don’t do much study of history either. Every culture of the world has the story – and all have a few people and animals survive. In addition, they have found proof in geology that such a flood occurred. All but the very top of several of the tallest mountains such as Everast were covered.

However, if you don’t believe it, fine with me. The example I gave you is still valid.

After that guy on “Preppers” got arrested, I’m not telling ANYONE what I’m doing, and why I’m doing it! PERIOD!!

Lots of great extremist blogic here. Loved it! Yes, store your commodities; stash them away. More importantly though, steel your mindset and hone your skills. And, Oh! that “bum’ on the street grate just might have a purple heart and brain trauma as well as an inconvenient but real case of poverty. Charity and compassion are not character weaknesses of the Libs, but necessary components of human nature.

    • 45caliber

Check things out. The conservatives give more to charities and the poor than the libs do. The libs believe the government should be the one to give (taking care of these poor people) with someone else’s money. Not their own. So don’t give the libs credit for charity. In fact, the bum on the grate cannot get any government help because he doesn’t have a permanent address. The government (libs) won’t even try to help him. Give credit where due.

I have two real scouts in my family and from the very beginning they were taught survival skills! One is about to become an Eagle Scout and the other is a year behind him! They can shoot, build a fire, make a shelter, catch a fish, cook in a can, purify water and they spend a lot of their time on their week-ends helping out in community projects! I cant speak for anyone else but if times get really bad I know who I want on my side!

  • Bimbam

You do not let IDIOTS take your weapons. I mean the card-carrying idiotic hypocrite liberals. These people have a MENTAL DISORDER.

YOU do not let people with mental disorders tell you what to do. NEVER!

  • Silas Longshot

The past several months have confirmed that crazy weather and useless politicians can both generate unexpected hardships for citizens. To a ‘prepper’ there’s no difference between being suddenly snowed in, trapped in your own house for a couple weeks while ‘society’ mends the power grid damaged by snow or perhaps a close call tornado, or economic turmoil caused by stupid decisions of stupid politicians, again an event not planned by politicians (we hope) any more than the weather. So, while the economic even hasn’t happened (yet) there’s no difference in being ready for any event, to the best of one’s ability.

This my first time to visit this website and I’ve read all the posts.I don’t know anyone who has posted here, but I’m not sure what all the controversy is about! Being prepared for what might happen just makes sense to me.People buy insurance to be prepared for all sorts of things which may or may not happen Hopefully it won’t happen but who knows! I and my parents were born and raised in a city, but their parents were born in small towns and on farms and lived during the “Great Depression”. They were taught “Waste not ,Want not!’ They knew how to raise their own food be it meat or vegetables and what they could’nt raise they traded with their neighbors! My point being Don’t wait on someone else to take care of you,It’s your responsibility to take care of yourself and your family first and help others as best you can,

    • 45caliber

The controversy, as you say, is due to the people who believe there is no need to be prepared and those who do. The people who do believe in being prepared are being ridiculed by those who believe the government will always take care of you so you don’t need to be prepared.

Sort of like the people during the hurricane at New Orleans. The “survivalists” were prepared for the storm and flood and either rode it out or went elsewhere. The “government takes care of you” people were the ones who went to the stadium and had to be moved out afterwards. Many came to Houston. Once they arrived in Houston, they refused to even help serve the food provided – they “deserved” to have the food served to them instead. Further, there are STILL people in Houston staying at some of the best hotels FREE because they haven’t replaced the cheap “homes” they lived in while in NO. Those are the homes that were owned by someone else and were in too much of a wreck to bother replacing. Further, they were the homes in the areas that were flooded – and NO doesn’t want to replace them and risk more people being flooded out. So I guess we, the taxpayers, will continue to pay for those expensive hotel rooms with room service and maids until those people die of old age.

      • Candy Matthews

Thank you for your answer.I agree with your observation on the fiasco in Nola! I thought the same thing myself! As a former resident of NO, I was glued to the breaking news about the hurricane for days before it hit! I couldn’t believe anyone could not take the warnings seriously! There were buses for Gods sake! What was the mind-set behind this? I know at the state level everyone rushed to blame anyone but themselves for this awful mess, but even so, did no one take responsibility for themselves and their families? I can only think it is a reflection of the time in which we live

      • Joe H

        45 caliber,
no controversy there. I could give a rats patooty what the libs here think of me. i carry it as a badge of accomplishment if they disagree with me. All I can tell them is if and when it DOES hit the fan, don’t come knockin at my door!

  • Daniel Studnicky

Sounds like the premise offered in “The Road”, starring Viggio Mortenson, which, by the way, was listed as “sci-fi”.

  • joanio57

I think about preparedness much the same way I think about religion. I’d rather be prepared and not need it, than to be unprepared and need it. I’d rather live a good life and be prepared to meet my maker, than to not live a good life in the hope that there is nothing afterwards.

  • KG

Just remember, their will always be more people than bullets. And after you sniped a couple dozen of their friends, when they get to you, it will be a wet dream for Dr, Mengele!
    That’s why Im not a survival-ist.
