The Government's Tax Fraud

President Barack Obama campaigned on the notion that he wouldn’t raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000. Or was it $225,000? Or maybe it was $200,000. Anyway, that’s what he said, even though the figures changed from time to time… depending on his mood, I guess.

But of course we’re seeing that that was just one of his many li… er, deceptions. Because, as a recent Investor’s Business Daily (IBD) report revealed, there’s a “…Tax Tsunami On The Horizon.”

Beginning in 2011, when the tax cuts instituted under President George W. Bush expire, all sorts of tax increases will hit the American taxpayer—for those making more than $200,000 and for those making less.

Here are some of them, according to IBD:

  • The Federal Estate tax goes from zero this year to 55 percent on estates of $1 million or more.
  • The tax brackets change. The lowest bracket increases from 10 percent to 15 percent, the next increases from 25 percent to 28 percent and the old 28 percent bracket increases to 31 percent. At the higher end, the 33 percent bracket goes up to 36 percent and the 35 percent bracket increases to 39.6 percent.
  • The marriage penalty returns.
  • Capital gains taxes increase from 15 percent to 20 percent. The tax on dividends will go from 15 percent to 39.6 percent. That’s an astonishing jump of 164 percent. And both of these will increase more in 2013 as the healthcare reform bill adds a 3.8 percent Medicare tax for those making $200,000 and joint filers making $250,000.
  • The tax credit for children decreases from $1,000 per child to $500.

According to IBD, letting the Bush tax cuts expire will cost taxpayers $115 billion next year alone, and $2.6 trillion through 2020, Congressional Budget Office figures show.

And this is just the first wave. The IBD article outlines billions of dollars of new taxes brought on by Obamacare that kick in over the coming years, such as the increase in the number of people affected by the alternative minimum tax (ATM) from 4 million families this year to 28.5 million next year.

The biggest con game of all is that tax increases are sold as necessary to fund the operations of government. Taxes do not to fund government. They are merely a means for government to steal more of your wealth.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reduces the money in our checking accounts when we authorize them to do so via our 1040 tax return. Do you wonder where the money goes that IRS removes from our pay checks? This money does not go to Washington as taxes to pay anything. It goes into the cyberspace of the IRS computers.

So what does the IRS do? It reduces our consumption by reducing the numbers (money) in our checking accounts. It is a system of economic regulation to conceal the fraud that modern money is numbers created without limit by government/bankers.

What else does this Orwellian system do? It transfers wealth to the "money creators." Theft through fiat occurs when the VOLUME of numbers (money) exceeds the production of goods and services. This is called inflation. So, the government makes war on its own people by increasing the volume of money.

So how is government funded? It sells Treasury bonds. How are Treasuries paid for? With Federal Reserve Notes (dollars) printed on a printing press. Debt is used to pay for more debt.

It’s like if you had no money in your checking account, but you wrote a check for $25 so you could have some spending money. The next day you go to another bank and write a check for $50—$25 to cover the previous day’s check and $25 for spending money. The next day you go to another bank and write a check for $75—$50 to cover the previous day’s checks and $25 for spending money.

You can keep this scam going for some time, but the numbers inflate so that by the end of the year you are writing checks for thousands of dollars each day to cover yourself. That’s the same scam the government is using to cover its debt now—debt paying for debt… nothing for nothing.

Many are now—finally—waking up to the scam and fraud that is government. IBD quotes a poll that says 51 percent want to see the Bush tax cuts made permanent. Just 28 percent don’t. Republicans by more than four to one and independents by two to one want to see them made permanent. Democrats, by 40 percent to 38 percent don’t.

Does that tell you who is actually paying the taxes?

Bottom line, neither Obama nor Democrats in Congress are truly interested in addressing the economic malaise that currently affects our country’s—and the world’s—economy. And Republicans are interested only so far as they can use it as a tool to get elected. None of them are really looking out for you.

All of them simply want more of what you have so they’ll have you further under their control.

        Explain that to Reagan. He is often touted by the right for his amazing economic skills. “He cut taxes and tax revenues increased by leaps and bounds!” No, they didn’t. In fact, the “economic recovery tax act of 1981″ decreased tax revenues by an average of over 4% during his first term. That’s why he enacted tax increases in his second term. You may recall that the deficit grew from $700 billion to $3 trillion under his watch. Also, the Alternative tax that you are all so upset about, that was Reagan’s baby as well. It was during his term that the AMT was adjusted to impact the middle class more than the wealthy. And just as an aside for all you Obama critics, Reagan’s first term saw us in recession for over two years.

        The Laffer curve has been grossly abused by the right to suggest that tax cuts are the answer. Few will admit that the curve supports the idea that too small a tax rate is just as bad as too large. As it is only a theory, no one knows what the optimal tax rate is (with regards to tax revenues), but it seems clear that the current crop of Republicans and “fiscal conservatives” are ready and willing to see us go down the drain as part of the experiment.

          Tax cuts work best when there are corresponding spending cuts as well. Liberal Democrats never saw a dollar they didn’t want to spend or charge in the absence of hard cash. Ben Franklin told us to “Mind your pennies & your dollars will take care of themselves”, but Washington politicians have the attitude “A million here & a million there & pretty soon you’re talking about some REAL money!” This country was founded as a REPUBLIC with a DEMOCRATIC form of government, but now we’ve got entirely too many SOCIALISTS

            Again, tell it to Reagan. His tax cuts were coupled with meager social spending cuts and a HUGE increase in military spending.

            I am amazed at the indignation of people who complain about the uppermost tax rate. All these people can not be in the top bracket, yet they continue to insist that the current rate is unfair. Well it was 70% when Reagan cam into office and he dropped it to 50%. He later dropped it to 28%. So how did that go? Debt grew from 32.5% of GDP in 1980 to 53.1% at the end of 1988! It increased to 66.1% under Bush 1 and continued to rise until Clinton’s second term when it dropped to 56.4%. Under Bush 2, his amazing tax cuts and his Republican controlled house and Senate, the rate grew to 83.4%! The top income tax rate during the Clinton years, 39%. Yes, we are going back to the Clinton tax rates. It took Clinton several years to get the economy back on track, and it was no where near as bad as what Obama has inherited. Let’s just hope that we get the same kind of results this time around.

To help offset this tax increase and also to improve incentives to work, save, and invest, President Reagan proposed sweeping tax rate reductions during the 1980s. What happened? Total tax revenues climbed by 99.4 percent during the 1980s, and the results are even more impressive when looking at what happened to personal income tax revenues. Once the economy received an unambiguous tax cut in January 1983, income tax revenues climbed dramatically, increasing by more than 54 percent by 1989 (28 percent after adjusting for inflation).

            Great notes, but they only show that Reagan’s tax cuts may have increased revenues. They say nothing about the fact that the deficit increased drastically under Reagan. As to the INCREDIBLE return on the tax cut, real revenue was on the increase during the Carter years as well. In fact, the increase was about the same for both periods when you take into account the drop caused by the ’79 recession (Carter) and the initial drop caused by the tax cuts (Reagan). As for the success of the tax cuts, the results were less than Reagan projected and failed to pay for the cost of the cut. No, the Heritage foundation did not mention that aspect, but neither did they mention that the Kennedy cuts on the top bracket were accompanied by the closing of loop holes used by the rich to reduce their tax debt. And again, the Laffer curve, the basis for the Reagan tax cuts theorizes that there is a prime point at which tax rate and responding revenue will peak. Too high and people have no incentive, too low and there isn’t enough being produced to bring in the necessary revenue. A simple enough idea, if only there was an answer. I can tell you this though, the Republican idea that taxes can never be too low is not it.

            Last time I checked it was Congress and not the President that passes the budget which causes the deficit to expand or not. The Democrats were in charge the entire time Reagan was President. That makes them the source.

          We can solve all the tax “crap” by enacting a permanent “Flat Tax”. This will assure that, “ALL” people and business, will pay the same amount of taxes, because you pay the taxes on consumption. This means, a set tax amount of, say 17%, be paid when you purchase a bottle of milk or you puchase a jet airplane. This will create enough monies to take care of all the needs of government.

          Next thing to do is that we enact “Term Limits”. This will assure that we have people in the Congrss and Senate that have fresh and viable ideas to advance this country. It will also assure the ‘American” people that no one person has the time to aquire vested power over time.

          Let’s be real, Senator “Byrd” passed away just recently, but had been in the Senate for his “lifetime”. He had to have help just to stand to vote. Let’s look at this for what it is. This man was voting on legislation, that will forever change our country, and had to have physical help just to reach the podeium to place his vote?

          WE NEED “TERM LIMITS” !!!

          I love “America” and we as “American Persons”, need to correct this wrong by doing this the way our “founders” intended us to. “VOTE”!!

            A flat tax is one thing, but depending on a consumption tax places a large burden on those who earn the least. Lets say we all spend $6,000 a year on food. That’s 30% of the income of a person making $20,000 a year, but only 10% of income for those making $60,000. Now consider the percentage of the population with incomes below $20,000, many of them elderly people who no longer work and have to get by on less than $20,000. You think things are tough for them now, just wait.

            Consumption tax is very popular among the wealthy and it’s easy to see why. You can save a lot by choosing to put off that New Mercedes for another year, but it’s hard for the poor to put off eating.

            Many on this site who recommend a consumables tax also want to do away with social programs. Personally I’d like to see more people lifted up so that they no longer need these programs. IF we go to a flat tax we would also need to do away with the deductions that allow the richest Americans to get away with an effective tax rate of 15% while our household pays well over 20%, but will those in power (ie the wealthy) ever go for that? The talking heads that keep pushing for lower taxes on the wealthy and corporate America are among those who would reap the profits. Why does anyone listen to them?

            I see the reasoning behind a progressive tax rate, you don’t. So you and I disagree on what system would be best, no problem. Note that I can disagree without insulting you. I can’t tell you how much it reduces the power of your statements when you resort to name calling as a way to make your point.

            So how come are liberals not against a sales tax? It is a flat (currently around 9%) tax on all things purchased.

            In truth, most of us are to one degree or another. Some sales tax is fine, but to depend on a Federal sales tax as opposed to income tax, that’s something we have been against for some time.

          Yes but in case you forgot, the only reason for the deficits were the spending on defense.
          And in case you don’t remember, it was in the middle of the COLD WAR, bound to be bigger by the way Truman sort of turned over to Stalin and called him a nice guy.
          The cold war was not cause by the Republicans, rather by the Democrats who built up problems by rolling over to the socialists and communists.

            It doesn’t and I’m not defending it. My response was to the statement

            Once again, the claim is that “Liberal Democrats” don’t get it, that we just want to spend and spend. Well, Reagan cut taxes to spur on the economy, and most conservatives hold him up as a beacon for all to see the glory of tax cuts. What is never mentioned is that he also borrowed like no one before, leaving us with a massive deficit. You can’t claim that the tax cuts worked if you had to borrow to sustain the nation, but that’s what we’re sold every time tax cuts come up! At the time we were told not to worry about it. The argument from the Republicans was that the deficit was not real. This wasn’t actual money, and in the end the increased revenue from the tax cuts would wash it all away. NEWS FLASH! It didn’t. Fast forward to G.W. Bush and his coupling of tax cuts with “emergency” military spending, “emergency” bank bailouts and suddenly the Reagan deficit looks like small potatoes. You can’t cut taxes and borrow to keep the country afloat.

            Should President Obama just keep on spending? It depends. If there’s a jobs bill that will put Americans back to work while rebuilding the infrastructure, that might be a good move. The work needs to be done, private business could be bolstered, workers can keep their homes and tax revenues would go up. Pouring billions more into a war we should never have started, forget it. Pull out and stop giving money to bloated defense contractors and corrupt foreign officials. Health care reform, banking reform, both could have been of value, but it’s worthless if you are going to let the Republicans talk you into a watered down piece of legislation that fails to do what needs to be done.

            So what do we have for all we have spent. A big share of GM, which may pay off in the long run. The big banks are paying back their loans, but they don’t seem to have learned their lessons. I’d like to see stronger reform, but it doesn’t seem like the Republicans are going to support it. We still have two war fronts, but if we pull out Obama is weak on defense and if we stay he is throwing away our money. With the newly released documents and evidence that the Bush administration threw billions away even when they knew there was no purpose, I think Obama may be able to admit that he went along but it’s time to cut this one loose. We also have a huge deficit built on the back of Bush’s failure and a congress that just can’t seem to stand together for the good of our country, and a growing number of people more interested in demanding a birth certificate then demanding our government work together. It’s not the change I had hoped for, and I know we could have better, but I sure don’t want to go back to where Bush was leading us.

            So Reagan increased the National Debt $2.5 Trillion in 8 years? It has taken Obama 19 months to perform that feat. Obama makes Reagan look like a piker.

            Of course, Congress is the real culprit, all the Presidents can do is veto their bills. And Reagan Vetoed more Bills than any other President in the last 60 years. Obama has vetoed 0 Bills. Zip. Nadda.

            It is Government in general that is the problem, whether it is run by Democrats or Republicans. We have too much Government draining our financial and material resources. Eventually, people will have to face that fact. It’s just too bad we can’t get to that realization earlier before all the damage has been done.

            There is a mistake in your reasoning. Before President Reagan took office, we were losing the Cold War. The Soviet Union had military superiority over the USA until about 1984. We didn’t achieve military superiority until about 1988 or 1989 .

            The Democrats in Congress did not lessen social spending. They held the military budget hostage. If Reagan didn’t negotiate further increases in social spending for the Democrats, then he would not have gotten the increases needed in military spending.

            Their were various bills passed to balance the budget ( after 1986 ?) but the Democratic dominated legislative branch increased social spending. We didn’t have a balance budget until the Republicans took over the House under Gingrich and restrained Bill Clinton’s (during this Pax Americana won by Reagan … ) spending.

            Your reasoning doesn’t fit today’s scenario. Cutting taxes helped pull our economy out of a major recession. We built up our military and won the Cold War (WW3).

          I don’t have to tell it to a dead man who had many wise people around him which is not the case with this administration. No amount of money can help us under a socialist progressive mindset. what we have now is pigs with lipstick spending millions of our tax dollars flying around their animals and having parties and making it all legal. I’m sure if you search deep enough you will find that taxes have become the modern day form of slavery such as the democratic control states during and before the civil war. The very people in charge are the ones who created our economic situation of today. in a real court these guys would all be found guilty with every intention. it all ties together create an idea to sell to the people and push and push and push until it becomes reality. God is not the author of confusion so who is? where is equal justice? not social justice which rewards the underserved.
          as ling as there a defense for injustice, ignorance will rule. this administration has become lawless to our capitalist market.
          Taxation without representation can only be defended so long before the people react.
          my question to you is how many poor people are hiring?
          do you understand the idea of trickle up poverty?
          Washington does and Rome proved it.

        That’s a load of crap that has been proven wrong for years. Lowering taxes does directly corelate to better economy. If it did how would get a deficit from a surplus after tax cuts? Also, if we’re saying that the governemnt has been perpetrating this scam for generations then how is it the Democrats fault and especially Obama. Democrats haven’t controlled everything forever and are not the root of all evil as much as you people would like to think they are.

            Republicans will spin it 20 ways from Sunday If it’s out there it has to be Obamas fault. Some of our problems have been festering for decades and it all gets dumped in Obamas lap. Some tax cuts do more harm than good and favor certain people over others . The same can be said about tax increases.It would be nice to find a politician who explains the necessities of taxes AND the harm that too much taxes can do. Instead we are stuck with No tax people or spend,spend,spend people.

            Simple, the conservatives blame the spending on the Democrats. Your right, they all do it. There is waste and greed on both sides, but the blame is laid at the Democrats door. Reagan increased the deficit by record amounts; it was the Dems in congress. Clinton turned the deficit into a surplus; it was the Republican congress. Bush ruined the economy; everything was great until the Dems won a majority. Democrats defend themselves because we know that we will be blamed.

            We may disagree on what spending was wasteful and what was worthwhile, but we all agree that there has to be a limit to both taxes and spending. Let’s hope they find the right balance soon.

            I have to disagree with you. In the case of Bush 2 presidency and the Republican Congress it was a similar situation as Reagans – similar in some respects but not exactly the same. In order for the Republicans to retain control of Congress, they had to increase social spending to “buy” the votes of the Democratic majority. The Republicans had to buy these votes in order to fund the military especially for the Iraq/Afghanistan wars…. So when Joe Democrat Voter went to the ballot box – he got his payoff…..

            Also forward deploying NATO into former Soviet satellite nations cost $$$.

            The Democrats , who are now in power, CAN NOT DECIDE on a cohesive policy. They ran on a “PEACE” platform and promised a quick cut back in military spending !!! The TROOPS ARE STILL DEPLOYED.

            Obama promised an end to “PAX AMERICANA” to be replaced with other nations taking RESPONSIBILITY for their own defense. That’s one reason he won the Nobel Peace Prize. A Promised end to American MILITARY Hegemony……. THIS DIDN”T HAPPEN .. Why ?

            They (the Democrats) wanted the Presidency and Congress, BUT NOW REALIZE GETTING WHAT YOU WANT is not always WANTING WHAT YOU GET…….

            The Democrats are waging the war in IRAQ/AFGHANISTAN and have not brought the troops home…..
            You can’t blame the Republicans for military spending. Forward deployment of our military, in former Soviet satellite nations…..is still happening !!!!!

            The Republicans in Congress are no longer held hostage. The best strategy for the Republican Party is to lose the next election and show the Democrats will continue breaking their promises concerning military spending, and bringing the troops home. The NEOCONS military policy was also help captive by the banks bailout. It isn’t anymore because the Democrats (and Wall Street) are in power….

This january 20th would be a good time to strike. Where will they get the money to run a corrupt government if nobody works for say a week as a first warning.It got rid of communism in Poland.       After scrolling through and reading all of the replys – it goes to show that our leaders are only human and looking out for themselves The Elite – look at the replys – progressives against conservatives. Its amazing how we only have two elected political view points for a country with 300 million different people. It is also amazing that everbody agrees to disagree which gets us no where – I can see where Kinetics who believes in socialism and wants government in every aspect of his life can agree with what is happening today – What scares me is when he realizes that his freedoms are gone it will be to late or he wont care.       I have to say that a limited Government is what we need to get back to Stability. this country was founded a little over 200 years ago and is steadily turning into everything that the founders fought to FREE themselves of – We need to work to provide a Government for our youth that understands hard work and the value of a dollar or even a penny.

      I believe in helping mankind and people who need to get back on there feet or who are sick, but handouts do not help any one – Handouts keep people exactly where they are – needing that next hand out. I dont mind paying taxes for Good causes but not all of the taxes are good causes – Why does the Government own GM please let me know

      I have listened to many opinions here and else where and I am terrified not of Progressives and not of Conservatives but of our Both (BIG BROTHER) – this country is for the people not for control of the people – we live in the greatest country in the world under God because this is how we built it no kings or Queens – Hard Work and dedication yes we have made mistakes along the way but I feel we are constantly learning and overcoming them.

      Lets begin by cutting taxes for small business and getting people back to work – lets implement plans to help a man or woman who wants to work not who wants the hand outs – Big business gets the bail outs lets focus on the Engine of this country – If people are working – people are spending money – an actual dollar with value behind it. If people are spending money our economy is turning – the more money that is being spent responsibly – The economy will continue to improve

      I do care about the past but dont want to argue about what Reagon did or Obama inherited – nobody inherits anything in this government they put themselves out there and and say vote for me, vote for change. Take a look at GOOOH.com, mix that with the Tea Party, once regular Americans are in the House, we can push the FairTax, term limits, balanced budget amendment, secure the borders, and a multitude of other concerns Americans have. Get those kind of things in place and socialism will be a non-issue.         Read deeper and you’ll see that I am not for socialism in every aspect of government. Do I believe that the health and welfare of our citizenry is a valuable asset? You bet! And I would rather spend my tax dollars insuring that we all receive at least a basic level of preventative care then to fill the pockets of the insurance industry. Not just because it is nice to help people, but because it is economically advantages for the country to be healthy. Really, what are we paying the insurance companies for? It’s legalized gambling.

        Do I want the government to own car companies and Banks? No. Should our government protect us from corporations that put their bottom line before the health and welfare of this nation? Yes. Should the FED be allowed to function as a private entity? NO. So where did I go wrong? Ahh, the flat tax. Yes, if only I supported a flat tax. So what would I be if I suggested that I would support a flat income tax, but not the flat consumables tax? Is it Socialist to suggest that we should all pay an equal share of our wealth?

        Look, it’s easy to pin a label on people, but it isn’t very useful. Does it make me a Socialist if I don’t understand how you can say that the government has no place in our private lives, but support the ban on same sex marriage. Isn’t that a decision for the churches to decide? Am I Socialist if I support your right (and mine) to own a gun, but question why it has to be secret? Why is registration such a big deal? And if Socialists are supposed to be the ones willing to give up their freedoms, why are conservatives so quick to accept the Patriot act? Are you truly ok with government agents listening in on your private conversations? Is it really better to trust your health to a corporate panel than a government panel? I know a lot of people in government and nonprofit positions who truly care about the people they are entrusted to help. Corporations have a legal obligation to serve the best interest of their share holders. Is it the Socialist in me that is more willing to trust those whose are committed to our nation’s interest?

        So tell me, am I really a big bad Socialist? I know I’m not a Communist, or a Marxist. I’m not a Fascist or a racist, or a humanist. Do I have to be a fundamentalist? How about I check none of the above and just take one issue at a time?

          What about food? What about shelter? Both of those usually will result in death much faster than lack of healthcare.
          An unfortunate reality of life is that if you make it easy for people, they will take it easy. Thus less production and services which leads to a poorer society, and less resources for food, shelter, and healthcare.
          When people are left alone by meddlesome government, they behave their best. Because, there is nobody to rebel against. People don’t like being told what to do by other people, and government is just other people, no different than our neighbors.
          Government should stick to their legitimate function of protecting us from the force of others. When they help themselves to peoples’ money as if it were they own, they set a bad example for those citizens who are struggling with morality.
          If it’s wrong to take somebody else’s money forcefully, it is wrong no matter how big your gang is. The same goes for killing (except in self-defense).

        My parents felt that furthering my education was not appropriate because I needed to be a stay-at- home-mom. Since I did not get married when they wanted I was basically kick out of my parents home. For a couple of years after paying car payments, rent, etc. I only had $15 a month for food. I could not afford health insurance. What will happen to people who are forced to pay for something they cannot afford? Does this mean they will not have the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness?

        My only having $15 a month for food says a lot. I believe in working for everything I have, and I don’t believe in a free to me lunch if it means taking from someone else! I do believe in giving to others in need if I so choose and have the ability to do so.

        I rarely could get a job through the government’s Job Service. Most the jobs I found were through Kelly’s an employment agency not run by the government.

    Two wars, exactly; and that was just the start with the bailout for Wall Street following that. There seems to be a pattern recently where the Republican party runs up huge deficits (which President Cheney said was no problem) and the Democrats come in, raise taxes to cover the deficit and create a surplus. Go figure. Certainly, President Obama was precommited by President Bush to continue on the bailout path which increased the current deficit even more.

        Example: Bill Clinton reported budget surplus in his last budget, but that’s because republicans then had majority and they reduced wasteful spending.

        Republicans in general are financial conservatives and more free-market believers than Democrats, who already have plenty of in their socialist agenda. I don’t understand why Democrats believe that something (socialist economy) always failed everywhere in the world will be successful here in USA.

        Regulations are a big weapon for the Democrats. Is it practically possible to read, understand and remember 100000 pages of financial regulation code in order to operate a bank? I don’t think so. Here you go (Democratic strategy), tell banks to do something. If they refuse, wait for next recession and then get rid of them on name of failure to meet regulatory requirements.

        So many banks failed in the recent month, is it because they are not able to make payment or they said they are not able to operate? Nap, FDIC toppled them because they failed to meet “regulatory requirements”.

      Another vote from someone who has been “earning” since I was 6 years old!! All money earned went to Mama!! These jobs included mowing lawns, shoveling snow, doing favors for neighbors, until I was 16, and because I maintained good grades, was allowed to have all classes in the morning, and an afterschool job till 7 or 8!! Again, Mama got the largest part of each paycheck. The rest went into the bank savings, as I wanted to be a nurse. That never became a reality, as I had advanced by that time to a very good job at the Naval Base. I did learn, however, that “helping family” and doing for others was a personal responsibility for all!!! Not the job of the Government!! You indeed will get my vote my friend!! Good luck!!

          There is only one way out of this. The people who want freedom must stop wasting their votes on politicians who don’t understand freedom. I don’t care if they are the lesser of two evils, they are still evil, and they will still take this country in the wrong direction.
          There is a party that thinks very much like our Founders did. We advocate Individual Freedom, Personal Responsibility, Free Markets, and Limited Government. And we must stop excusing the Government from basic Morality. Thou shalt not Steal! Thou shalt not Kill! Nowhere in those Ten Commandments does it say that Government is exempt.

          If you can find Republicans who truly will take us in that direction, vote for them. I doubt you can, so why waste any more time on Republicans? Vote Libertarian!

    György Schwartz, better known to the world as George Soros, was born August 12, 1930 in Hungary Soros’ father, Tivadar, was a fervent practitioner of the Esperanto a language invented in 1887, and designed to be the first global language, free of any national identity.

    KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from your fellow Jews, friends and neighbors.

    KROFT: I mean, that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

    SOROS: Not, not at all. Not at all, I rather enjoyed it.

    In his article, Muravchik describes how Soros has admitted to having “carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble.”

    Be that as it may. After WWII, Soros attended the London School of Economics, where he fell under the thrall of fellow atheist and Hungarian, Karl Popper, one of his professors. Popper was a mentor to Soros until Popper’s death in 1994. Two of Popper’s most influential teachings concerned “the open society,” and Fallibilism.

    Fallibilism is the philosophical doctrine that all claims of knowledge could, in principle, be mistaken. (Then again, I could be wrong about that.)

    The “open society” basically refers to a “test and evaluate” approach to social engineering. Regarding “open society” Roy Childs writes, “Since the Second World War, most of the Western democracies have followed Popper’s advice about piecemeal social engineering and democratic social reform, and it has gotten them into a grand mess.”

    In 1956 Soros moved to New York City , where he worked on Wall Street, and started amassing his fortune. He specialized in hedge funds and currency speculation.

    Soros is absolutely ruthless, amoral, and clever in his business dealings, and quickly made his fortune. By the 1980s he was well on his way to becoming the global powerhouse that he is today.

    In an article Kyle-Anne Shiver wrote for “The American Thinker” she says, “Soros made his first billion in 1992 by shorting the British pound with leveraged billions in financial bets, and became known as the man who broke the Bank of England . He broke it on the backs of hard-working British citizens who immediately saw their homes severely devalued and their life savings cut drastically, almost overnight.”

    In 1994 Soros crowed in “The New Republic ” that “the former Soviet Empire is now called the Soros Empire.” The Russia-gate scandal in 1999, which almost collapsed the Russian economy, was labeled by Rep. Jim Leach, then head of the House Banking Committee, to be “one of the greatest social robberies in human history..” The “Soros Empire” indeed.

    In 1997 Soros almost destroyed the economies of Thailand and Malaysia . At the time, Malaysia ‘s Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad, called Soros “a villain, and a moron.” Thai activist Weng Tojirakarn said, “We regard George Soros as a kind of Dracula. He sucks the blood from the people.”

    The website Greek National Pride reports, “[Soros] was part of the full court press that dismantled Yugoslavia and caused trouble in Georgia , Ukraine and Myanmar [ Burma ]. Calling himself a philanthropist, Soros’ role is to tighten the ideological stranglehold of globalization and the New World Order while promoting his own financial gain. He is without conscience; a capitalist who functions with absolute amorality..”

    France has upheld an earlier conviction against Soros, for felony insider trading. Soros was fined 29 million dollars.

    Recently, his native Hungary fined Soros 2.2 million dollars for “illegal market manipulation.” Elizabeth Crum writes that “The Hungarian economy has been in a state of transition as the country seeks to become more financially stable and westernized. [Soros] is deliberately driving down the share price of its largest bank put Hungary’s economy into a wicked tailspin, one from which it is still trying to recover.

    My point here is that Soros is a planetary parasite. His grasp, greed, and gluttony have a global reach.

    But what about America ? Soros told Australia ‘s national newspaper “The Australian” ” America , as the center of the globalized financial markets, was sucking up the savings of the world. This is now over. The game is out,” he said, adding that the time has come for “a very serious adjustment” in American’s consumption habits. He implied that he was the one with the power to bring this about.”

    Soros: “World financial crisis was “stimulating” and “in a way, the culmination of my life’s work.”

    Obama has recently promised 10 billion of our tax dollars to Brazil, in order to give them a leg-up in expanding their offshore oil fields. Obama’s largesse towards Brazil, came shortly after his political financial backer, George Soros, invested heavily in Brazilian oil (Petrobras).

    Tait Trussel writes, “The Petrobras loan may be a windfall for Soros and Brazil , but it is a bad deal for the U.S. The American Petroleum Institute estimates that oil exploration in the U.S. could create 160,000 new, well-paying jobs, as well as $1.7 trillion in revenues to federal, state, and local governments, all while fostering greater energy security and independance.”

    Back to America. Soros has been actively working to destroy America from the inside out for some years now. People have been warning us. Two years ago news sources reported that “Soros [is] an extremist who wants open borders, a one-world foreign policy, legalized drugs, euthanasia, and on and on. This is off-the-chart dangerous.”

    In 1997 Rachel Ehrenfeld wrote, “Soros uses his philanthropy to change or more accurately deconstruct the moral values and attitudes of the Western world, and particularly of the American people. His “open society” is not about freedom; it is about license. His vision rejects the notion of ordered liberty, in favor of a PROGRESSIVE ideology of rights and entitlements.”

    Perhaps the most important of these “whistle blowers” are David Horowitz and Richard Poe. Their book “The Shadow Party” outlines in detail how Soros hijacked the Democratic Party, and now owns it lock, stock, and barrel.

    Soros has been packing the Democratic Party with radicals, and ousting moderate Democrats for years.

    The Shadow Party became the Shadow Government, which became the Obama Administration.

    DiscoverTheNetworks.org (another good source) writes, “By his [Soros'] own admission, he helped engineer coups in Slovakia , Croatia , Georgia , and Yugoslavia . When Soros targets a country for “regime change,” he begins by creating a shadow government , a fully formed government-in-exile, ready to assume power when the opportunity arises. The Shadow Party he has built in America greatly resembles those he has created in other countries prior to instigating a coup.”

    November 2008 edition of the German magazine “Der Spiegel,” in which Soros gives his opinion on what the next POTUS (President of the U.S. ) should do after taking office “I think we need a large stimulus package.” Soros thought that around 600 billion would be about right.

    Soros also said that “I think Obama presents us a great opportunity to finally deal with global warming and energy dependence. The U.S. needs a cap and trade system with auctioning of licenses for emissions rights.”

    Although Soros doesn’t (yet) own the Republican Party, like he does the Democrats, make no mistake, his tentacles are spread throughout the Republican Party as well.

    Soros is a partner in the Carlyle Group where he has invested more than 100 million dollars. According to an article by The Baltimore Chronicle’s Alice Cherbonnier, the Carlye Group is run by “a veritable who’s-who of former Republican leaders,” from CIA man Frank Carlucci, to CIA head [and ex-President] George Bush, Sr.

    In late 2006, Soros bought about 2 million shares of Halliburton, Dick Cheney’s old stomping grounds.

    When the Democrats and Republicans held their conventions in 2000, Soros held Shadow Party conventions in the same cities, at the same time.
    In 2008, Soros donated $5 billion to the Democratic National
    Committee, DNC, to insure Obama’s win and wins for many other Alinsky trained Radical Rules Anti-American Socialist. George has been contributing a $ billion plus to the DNC since Clinton came on the scene.

    Soros has dirtied both sides of the aisle, trust me. And if that weren’t bad enough, he has long held connections with the CIA.

    And I mustn’t forget to mention Soros’ involvement with the MSM (Main Stream Media), the entertainment industry (e.g. he owns 2.6 million shares of Time Warner), and the various political advertising organizations he funnels millions to. In short, George Soros controls or influence most of the MSM. Little wonder they ignore the TEA PARTY, Soros’ NEMESIS.

    Richard Poe writes, “Soros’ private philanthropy, totaling nearly $5 billion, continues undermining America ‘s traditional Western values. His giving has provided funding of abortion rights, atheism, drug legalization, sex education, euthanasia, feminism, gun control, globalization, mass immigration, gay marriage and other radical experiments in social engineering.”

    America stands at the brink of an abyss, and that fact is directly attributable to Soros. Soros has vigorously, cleverly, and insidiously planned the ruination of America and his puppet, Barak Obama is leading the way.

    The words of Patrick Henry are apropos: “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!”

    These days, Patrick Henry’s sentiment is more than just some quaint hyperbole from long ago. It’s a slow burning, but intense, glow that fires our courage and heart.

      I’ll have a lot of research to do, but I’ll have to do it since at least one of your many points has been proven over and over again to be false.

      The Petrobas oil loan was NOT given by President Obama. It is the work of the American Export/Import Bank. They are not overseen by the President and make their loans based on financial principals, not political. The purpose of these loans, the money for which comes from private bank guarantees, is for the purpose of purchasing American goods an Labor. In other words, their job is to see that we get back to work! As for Soros, his company SOLD large amounts of their Petrobas stock BEFORE the loans were approved. So any suggestion that this is a payoff is off the mark.

      I sure hope the rest of these “facts” are from better sources than the Petrobas story.

    Actually this is great. Only if the government becomes completely uncivilized will we really make them change. A few food riots and a few civil liberties riots under the premise ( we would not need to be on food stamps if we just got to keep our pay). That kind of civil liberties march would free us from that grip. It would be great to have prior military like me walk down the street in uniform with signs saying shame on you that mid rank military and the rest of us peasants are on food stamps. The peasants need to bang on the pots and wave the pitch forks and maybe the military can do it for us. At some point our oppressors will not only take the crop but the the seeds for the next crop.

    As a widow of a military retiree, who stood with her husband for over 20 years while he served this country (which was the greatest in the world until this Congress and President took over), I have to say I agree. Shirley

    As a retired military man that have given over twenty-seven years of my life to my country, I truly feel that what this
    Country needs most is a new amendment to the Constitution . I am recommending that we add the 28th amendment to the Constitution of the UNITED STATES.

    For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that Congress members could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

    This is a good way to do that. It is an idea whose time has come.

    Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

    “Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Congressman, Senators, Representatives and the President together with his/her staff; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Congressman, Senators, Representatives, and the President together with his/her staff that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States”.

    This 28th amendment to the Constitution of the UNITED STATES Will apply to all passed, present and future
    Congressman, Senators And Representatives.
    Just think of all the money this would save the tax payers!!!!!

      What a brilliant idea is the 28th Amendment proposed to make justice truly blind! If lawmakers could not exempt themselves from consequences to their actions much would change on Capitol Hill. However, like passing the Fair Tax, passage would be an uphill battle against an entrenched enemy. The Capitol Hill gang(s) don’t want the Fair Tax because they would lose much of their power and apportionment control while the proposed 28th Amendment would hold them accountable to all they passed. If we the people could get these two measures passed (28th Amendment and The Fair Tax) it would be a stake in the heart of this Dracula of a Administration. Between them they would likely pull us back from the brink that has been getting ever closer through successive administrations. Republican and Democrat alike have contributed to this precarious perch we now find ourselves forced onto as we stare into the abyss. I would hope that the Tea Party takes up both proposed measures and candidates come forward that will honestly work for their passage. I would think that almost any candidate that took up the call for this wonderfully simple 28th Amendment would strike a resonant chord with the American people. Let us hope it happens.       We need a Congress whose members do not consider themselves to be above the law, but held to a higher standard & tighter understanding of the law. After all, those who write our laws should be the most law-abiding among us. For this (& other) reason(s) I oppose the restoration of voting rights to felons until at least twenty squeaky-clean years have passed since completing their sentence, unless it can be proven that they were wrongfully convicted.

    When the current tax cuts expire, lower incomes and middle incomes won’t be touched because these people would be forced to spend less and that’s bad for the economy.
    The rich neither spend nor invest all of their incomes into improving the economy. In fact many use their wealth to finance new factories in foreign countries in search of cheap non american labor. The Bush and Reagan tax cuts produced large federal deficits despite all the BS spread by the right wing nuts. Mr. Bush also was at the helm for one of the biggest economic disasters in US history.
    The latest rants from Washington seem to indicate the return to higher brackets for upper middle and high incomes. Estate taxes will probably be reinstated, although the 1 million deductable is far too low. Capital gains need to be treated as income but inflation on long term gains needs to be factored in. Also eliminating or reducing taxes on small gains would be a good idea.

      Norm, the government has NO money. They PRINT it, or they STEAL it from the productive in this country and give it or use it for their pet projects. But, the main point is they have NO money. So, given that, what do you actually think is the RIGHT thing to happen? Steal more? Where does that lead? Does that leave the American people with a feeling of freedom and liberty? No, it leaves people with a feeling of oppression and resentment. Do oppressed people jump right out there and innovate? No, they don’t. They STOP innovating, they STOP working, they do whatever they can to figure out how to keep more of THEIR OWN PROPERTY and not have it STOLEN from them! A book I would suggest is the 5,000 Year Leap. It’s a good read and not too complicated.

        The question we as the taxpayers need to ask is: What services do you want from your government?
        Do you want or need:
        By far the largest military in the world;
        Foreign aid to “buy” friends and loyalty;
        Intrusion into the affairs of other countries;
        Massive aid to states (in the US);
        Healthcare;
        Aid to private corporations in the form of grants and tax reductions;
        Bailouts of mismanaged corporations;
        Tax breaks for churches and “charities”;
        Etc..
        Also do we not need to guarantee the SS and Medicare taxes are not stolen for other causes and that they are large enough to finance themselves?
        If we need to spend as we have been, we need to pay the piper. Printing money is not an option, tax increases, unfortunately is.

The number of “Blue Dogs” that will side with the Republicans has been larger than the number of “moderate Republicans” who will side with the Democrats. In order to rebuild our National Defense which had been decimated by Jimmy Carter and the Democrat controlled Congress and Senate in the late 1970′s, Reagan had to compromise to get that accomplished. After all, that is the primary purpose of the Federal Government, and had been ignored. Was this before you were born? What were you taught in your history classes? Or, do you choose to be ignorant? I was disapointed that Reagan went along with the increase in F.I.C.A. taxes, and did not take it out of the general fund, so that the excess could be borrowed by the Fed’s and then spent on something not neccessary.

          When I was 9 years old, I argued with Democrats in my basement during many a Precinct Caucus (My Mother was a Precinct Captain), regarding what a fraud Social Security was. Six years later a Democrat President (L.B.J.) started the practice of taking those funds to pay for Vietnam and the Great Society. A lot of good that did.

          The point is when is enough, enough Why do you think it is fair to take someone elses property (wealth) to pay for your pet project. And, when that is not enough, come back for more? It is a violation of the Tenth Comandment, don’t ya know. Why must the Government constantly raise the percentage of G.D.P. it takes for what purposes? When will you realize, that your’e only less free when you steal more and more for Government!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            Why did Reagan have to “rebuild” our military? We were not as strong as we were at our peak, but we were ready. Well maybe not to your standards, but that’s the point. Who is to say what we need. Do we need to be in so many countries? Is it the responsibility of the American people to fund the world police force? Was it really necessary, or was it just an excuse to increase domestic output by building weapons? Was it wise to cut taxes AND increase spending, sending us into record debt? And talk about taking more of my money for pet projects, how do you justify Star Wars?

            Reagan wanted to spend more on the military after Carter. Bush wanted to spend more on the military after Clinton. Carter saw peace time as a time to concentrate on the home front, Reagan wanted to focus on the “Evil Empire”. Clinton was working on newer, more high tech systems like drones, Bush needed his BIG army to start two wars. The point is there is never enough. Reagan wasted our money. Clinton wasted our money. Our government wastes money and we all bitch at each other about who’s team is worse. Good luck finding a winner.

    Seems with the two wars we have signed onto it would have become obivious these tax cuts should have been cut in past years and we may not have been so far in debt. Money was spent we did not have and just got too far out of hand. Our jobs has been outsourced and unemployment is high so leaving less taxes being collected. So just what plan to does anyone have to avoid allowing the tax cuts to expire, if one does it should be on the table by now.

      While I support your right to practice your religion, and while I would never suggest that our founders, some more than others looked to their religious upbringing to guide them, I must point out that your sources are among those who have sought to falsely present the importance of religion (particularly Christian) in our government’s founding. Note that, in his biography, Thomas Jefferson recounted that some legislators wanted to place “Jesus Christ” before the words “Holy author of our religion” in the Religious Clauses of the Bill of Rights. This insertion “was rejected by a great Majority, in proof that they meant to comprehend, within the mantle of it’s protection, the Jew and the Gentile, the Christian and Mahometan, the Hindoo, and Infidel of every denomination.” Jefferson was very proud of this decision, so much so that he asked that this work be noted on his grave.

When it was pointed out to him that this set a bad example for lesser men, Washington agreed and made a point of not attending church on sacramental Sundays.

      Religion was a part of everyday life in 17th and 18th century America, and the Church held great sway over the people. Our leaders were expected to attend and participate in church, but this in no way guarantees that they were any more religious than a modern man drug to church by his wife. Truth be told, religion in early America, just as in the European nations our founders came from, threatened to tear our nation apart before it could even start. The battles between the states and their favored sects are well recorded. Had it not been for the men behind our Constitution and Bill of Rights, had it not been for their commitment to separating religion from our nations government, we might now be a continent of separate nations instead of states.

        This is what me and my sources believe:

        Latter-day Saints also believe in the importance of freedom of religion. The eleventh article of faith states: “We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.”

        “We believe that governments were instituted of God for the benefit of man; and that he holds men accountable for their acts in relation to them, both in making laws and administering them, for the good and safety of society. . . .

        I whole heartily agree that this country should protect all religions that uphold “. . . each individual the free exercise of conscience, the right and control of property, and the protection of life”.

          I am aware of the beliefs of the LDS church as I was a member for several years. I appreciate your devotion to your god, your church and your leaders. The information I offered to you is, in most cases based on history and the writings of the men I am speaking about. No doubt some opinion and interpretation finds it’s way in to these writings as even the Bible has been distorted by man over the centuries, however there is no question but that many Christian leaders have distorted the facts about the piety of some of our founders. Many, if not all were good, church going individuals raised in one of the many Christian sects. Several felt that their religion should guide the country, but as Adams said

          “..I could not help wishing that the ancient practice had been continued down to more modern times and that all the Prophets at least from Peter the Hermit, to Nimrod Hews inclusively had been confined to the stocks and been prevented from spreading so many delusions and shedding so much blood.”

          The time of our country’s founding was also the time of the great enlightenment. Seeing as many of our founders were also among the great minds of the times, it is reasonable to assume that they would know of the tenants of this movement and at least some would subscribe to them. A Deist is not an atheist, so I would not suggest that these men were without belief, but many saw the church as a force for public unity at best, and divisive hatred at worst. It is not a portrait of America’s great men that Glen Beck would like, but it is how they described themselves.

            In order to avoid moral accountability, progressive/atheists distort what our founders did not say about religion. They said government should not make laws to regulate religion. They did not say government should not involve religion in public affairs. This is analogous to distributing power among several branches of government, which most would agree was not intended to prohibit power from being exercised. Our forefathers would be aghast at the obsession to expunge religion from every venue and discourse that can be remotely associated with government. To our detriment, too many of our laws are based on this politically correct thinking. George Washington, like other leaders of his time, was respectful and reserved in leadership. He left behind a 24-page handwritten book called “Daily Sacrifice” that shows the claims of progressive/atheist sources for what they are. In it, he discusses Jesus being the Son of God; “my only savior”, whose blood was shed on the cross “for me”; respect for God’s “holy word”; a desire to be more like Jesus; a recognition of personal sin; a desire to be delivered from the “cunning of the devil or deceitfulness of sin”; acknowledgement of need for the “means of Grace”, prayers for the rulers of church and state; watchfulness for the “coming of the Lord Jesus”; and the time when “the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall arise and stand before the judgment seat”. Does that sound like a Christian? BTW, I am Jewish, and I believe the attack on Christianity only encourages a decline in morality and thus our country.

            I am not trying to “avoid moral accountability”, but to point to the truth. No matter your stand on the separation of church and state, basing your stand on the idea that our founders were all devout Christians deeply involved in the church is simply a false foundation. As I stated previously, some of the founders were devout in their religious lives, but the devotion of others has been falsified. Case in point, “Washington’s prayer book.” It comes up from time to time, whenever a Christian leader needs to bolster patriotism to further his cause, but it was debunked almost a century ago. In 1926, a scholar devoted to the life of Washington, Rupert Hughes wrote that no evidence connects Washington to this prayer book, which was found in an old trunk almost 100 years after his death. A penmanship expert consulted by Hughes confirmed that it wasn’t even in Washington’s handwriting. Now I know that there are some Christian scholars today who will argue this, such as Dr. Peter Lillback, but these same scholars seem willing to ignore the first hand accounts of Washington’s closest friends and colleagues, even the leaders of the churches he attended who commented on his standing as a Deist.

            You and others will believe what you want and for whatever reasons you have. I for one am not concerned that some of our country’s greatest minds were religious men, but not devoted to the church. Were it not for their wisdom, the influence of the Churches may have adversely affected the founding of this nation. If you do not understand my concerns, read about the church’s divisive impact on the early settlements and states.

    After reading most of these comments, some good some bad, one might wonder what in the word is going on with those who continue to blame the Bush administration for the national debt. The truth is, most of this problem, although not all of it, started with the Johnson administration when he and his fellow Democrats bankrupted our social security when he used it to pay for some of those liberal projects Democrats said were good for the country. So please don’t tell us that the Democractic Party is the party of the little man, when indeed it was their policies that have lead to much of the joblessness we now see in America today. Have Americans forgotten how good the economy was under the Bush administration’s first six years in office,how his tax cuts help the economy, and what happened when the far left Democrats took over the power in Washington. They blocked every thing Bush tried to do, including reining in Freedie Mack and Fannie May, while the Democracts shut him down. Even the coward, Barney Frank, said there was no problems with these lending institutions, and also said that even if there was, he and congress would not bail them out. Then when ask about this by Bill Oreilly, Frank denide his words, and I might add, his involvement with these two institutions. There were others who said the same thing, all Democrats I might add, and yet when their hero Barak Obama took office and started his charge for his bailout plan these same Democrats who denided any problems with these institution , were the first to vote for the stimulous package to bail out these instituions. Barny Frank and Chris Dowd where two of the most vocal supporters of the bailout. So the truth of the matter is this; The economy actually staring going down hill when the far left liberals, now in charge of congress, took control. Even though Bush should have handled this situation better, he had his throat cut by the far left democrats that is now have in charge of our country. I can only hope that in November the voters in states like Neveda, Califonia, as well as others, will finally open their eyes to what the Democrat Party has turned into, The New Socialist Party of America. And one final thing. I encourage all voters to look at those who will be running for office in November, to look at the candidates who best represent what this country was founded on, not their promises. The Mayflower Compact, our first founding document said in its first five words, “IN THE NAME OF GOD,” while the first three words in The U.S. Constituion said,”WE THE PEOPLE.” So it would be a good idea for all Americans To put those eight little words together to read;”IN THE NAME OF GOD, WE THE PEOPLE.” IT’s time to return this country back to God, and it doesn’t matter what any liberal, atheist, or humanist might say or believe, and that includes the most anti American groups in America today, The ACLU, Americans for Seperation of Church and State, The Freedom From Religion Foundation, and the most racist of all these groups, Tha NAACP.

      Where did you get your time line? Following WWII the national debt, as a % of GDP was 93.1%. Not too surprising given the cost of such a war. By the time President Johnson was through it was down to 38.6% and continued to drop to a low of 32.5% under President Carter. Reagan and Bush 1 increased it to 66.1% and, after Clinton’s success in bringing it back down 10 points, Bush 2 pushed it right back up!

      There were no “great” bush years. He came in under a cloud of controversy. He ignored warnings and saw the greatest terrorist attack on American soil under his watch. Sure, the tax cuts felt good, but the debt was going through the roof. Unemployment rose sharply (though not to the levels left by his father), dropped and then rose to new highs. Bush took us into two unnecessary wars. His administration lowballed the time and cost (“It is unknowable how long that conflict will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.” Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld), tried to hide the impact by not allowing the arrival of fallen soldiers to be seen and falsified the budget by not including the costs of his wars. And finally, it was Bush, not President Obama who claimed we were at a “critical moment” when he worked to push through the $700 million bail out of the banks. Nope, there was no time to read it over or debate other options, we needed to give them money NOW!

    As to term limits this can be done right at the state level. OK already has that. To even assume that the people we send to Washington will make that happen is to look for beach front property in AZ. We the people need to push our own state representatives to pass the term limits on those going to serve in Washington. We also on the state level need to require those serving in Washington to come and ask us when they want a pay raise and require they contribute to and receive only social security when they leave office. No more salaries for life and special retirement.

    I have asked and never got an answer as to why would a person hide his birth certificate and school records and passports? Unless he has something to hide.

    we must become involved in civic affairs to see that we are properly represented.

    The Lord said that “he holds men accountable for their acts in relation” to governments “both in making laws and administering them” (D&C 134:1). We must follow this counsel from the Lord: “Honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil” (D&C 98:10).

    Note the qualities that the Lord demands of those who are to represent us. They must be good, wise, and honest.

    . . . we must make our influence felt by our vote, our letters, our teaching, and our advice.

    We must become accurately informed and then let others know how we feel. The Prophet Joseph Smith said: “It is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and unpopular that which is unsound. ‘Tis right, politically, for a man who has influence to use it. … From henceforth I will maintain all the influence I can get” (History of the Church, 5:286).

    I have faith that the Constitution will be saved as prophesied by Joseph Smith. It will be saved by the righteous citizens of this nation who love and cherish freedom.

    What will happen to America? An excerpt from President N. Eldon Tanner’s “If They Will But Serve the God of the Land”

    Now, what of America’s future? How can we best show our appreciation to God for these marvelous blessings of freedom, of a place where his true and everlasting gospel was restored, of the preparation and divine guidance in every event leading to that most significant event? We must remember what the Lord told the Jaredites when they were first brought to this land: “Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be free from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but serve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.” (Ether 2:12; italics added.)

    Many years ago in a volume entitled Beacon Lights of History, Dr. John Lord, referring to the discovery of America, said, after speaking of her great potential, “The world has witnessed many powerful empires which have passed away and left ‘not a rack behind.’ What remains of the antediluvian world? … What remains of Nineveh, of Babylon, of Thebes, of Tyre, of Carthage—those great centers of wealth and power? What remains of Roman greatness even, except in laws and literature and renovated statues? … What is the simple story of all the ages?—industry, wealth, corruption, decay, and ruin. What conservative power has been strong enough to arrest the ruin of the nations of antiquity?

    “Now if this is to be the destiny of America—an unbounded material growth, followed by corruption and ruin—then Columbus has simply extended the realm for men to try material experiments. Make New York a second Carthage, and Boston a second Athens, and Philadelphia a second Antioch, and Washington a second Rome, and we simply repeat the old experiments.

    “But has America no higher destiny than to repeat the old experiments and improve upon them and become rich and powerful? Has she no higher and nobler mission? If America has a great mission to declare and to fulfil, she must put forth altogether new forces, and these not material. And these alone will save her and save the world. … The real glory of America is to be something entirely different from that of which the ancients boasted. And this is to be moral and spiritual—that which the ancients lacked.”

    We are all a part of America’s future. Our job is to learn and benefit from the past and to go forward in righteousness, keeping the commandments of God. In this connection the prophet Lehi said, “Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.” (2 Ne. 1:7.)

    As we pray daily to God for guidance, we should all make the same plea as George Washington did in his prayer for our country:

    “Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage, we humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will.

    “Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning and pure manners.

    “Save us from violence, discord and confusion; from pride and arrogancy, and from every evil way.

    “Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought out of many kindreds and tongues.

    “Endue with the spirit of wisdom those whom in Thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be peace and justice at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth.

    “In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail.

    “All of which we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.”

    “A Witness and a Warning” from President Ezra Taft Benson, the prophet Glenn Beck quotes sometimes.

    “The eventful destiny of America has also been revealed to God’s prophets. To Joseph Smith the Lord revealed that “the whole of America is Zion itself from north to south” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, sel. Joseph Fielding Smith, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Company, 1938, p. 362). Further, the Lord decreed this land to be “the place of the New Jerusalem, which should come down out of heaven, … the holy sanctuary of the Lord” (Ether 13:3). To serve God’s eternal purposes and to prepare this land for Zion, God “established the Constitution of this land, by the hands of wise men whom [He] raised up … and redeemed the land by the shedding of blood” (D&C 101:80).

    The Constitution of the United States was ratified in 1789. The priesthood of God was restored in 1829. Between those two dates is an interval of forty years. It is my conviction that God, who knows the end from the beginning, provided that period of time so the new nation could grow in strength to protect the land of Zion.

    In the decade prior to the restoration of the gospel, many countries of South America fought wars of independence to free themselves from European rule. Russia, Austria, and Prussia, however, urged France to aid Spain and Portugal to restore their monarchies in South America. This effort was repulsed by a proclamation from the United States government known as the Monroe Doctrine. The heart of the Monroe Doctrine consists of these words: “The American continents … are henceforth not to be considered as subjects for future colonization by any European powers.”

    The Lord had promised, “I will fortify this land against all other nations” (2 Ne. 10:12). President Joseph Fielding Smith said that “the greatest and most powerful fortification in America is the ‘Monroe Doctrine.’ … It was the inspiration of the Almighty which rested upon John Quincy Adams, Thomas Jefferson and other statesmen, and which finally found authoritative expression in the message of James Monroe to Congress in the year 1823” (The Progress Of Man, Salt Lake City: Deseret Book Co., pp. 466–67).

    Thus, in that four-decade period the United States had grown to sufficient strength that she was able to provide a cradle of liberty for the restored Church of Jesus Christ.

    But whenever the God of heaven reveals His gospel to mankind, Satan, the archenemy to Christ, introduces a counterfeit.

    Isaiah foresaw the time when a marvelous work and a wonder would come forth among men. Isaiah also predicted there would be those who would “seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us?” He saw the time when the work shall say of him that made it, “He made me not” (Isa. 29:15–16).

    It is well to ask, what system established secret works of darkness to overthrow nations by violent revolution? Who blasphemously proclaimed the atheistic doctrine that God made us not? Satan works through human agents. We need only look to some of the ignoble characters in human history who were contemporary to the restoration of the gospel to discover fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy. I refer to the infamous founders of Communism and others who follow in their tradition.

    Communism introduced into the world a substitute for true religion. It is a counterfeit of the gospel plan. The false prophets of Communism predict a utopian society. This, they proclaim, will only be brought about as capitalism and free enterprise are overthrown, private property abolished, the family as a social unit eliminated, all classes abolished, all governments overthrown, and a communal ownership of property in a classless, stateless society established.

    Since 1917 this godless counterfeit to the gospel has made tremendous progress toward its objective of world domination.

    Today, we are in a battle for the bodies and souls of man. It is a battle between two opposing systems: freedom and slavery, Christ and anti-Christ. The struggle is more momentous than a decade ago, yet today the conventional wisdom says, “You must learn to live with Communism and to give up your ideas about national sovereignty.” Tell that to the millions—yes, the scores of millions—who have met death or imprisonment under the tyranny of Communism! Such would be the death knell of freedom and all we hold dear. God must ever have a free people to prosper His work and bring about Zion.

    I am a witness to nations and people deprived of their freedom. I was there. I watched that great Iron Curtain drop around nations which formerly had prized their freedom—good people. I was aghast as these were written off by the stroke of a pen. I saw Poland abandoned by nations with a heritage of freedom—the United States and Great Britain.

    I was in Warsaw in June of 1946. I shared a room with seven other men in the Polonia Hotel, the only hotel even partially intact in the great city of Warsaw. Our ambassador, Bliss Lane, had his office in part of the building. He was so saddened that he resigned and wrote the book I Saw Poland Betrayed, which detailed the failure of the United States and England to keep their promise that the Poles would have a free election after the war.

    I saw firsthand our great nation stand by at the time of the Hungarian revolution—when “freedom fighters” with bare hands and stones resisted bullets, tanks, and artillery. I confess I was ashamed at the response of my country—a nation which I believe the Lord intended to be an ensign of freedom to all others. Freedom did not die that day (23 October 1956) for Hungary alone. Hope died for many in other captive nations and has only recently been somewhat revived by courageous men willing to speak against oppression.

    Since that day, I have seen the Soviet Union, under its godless leaders, spread its ideology throughout the world. Every stratagem is used—trade, war, revolution, violence, hate, detente, and immorality—to accomplish its purposes. Many nations are now under its oppressive control. Over one billion people—one-fourth of the population of the world—have now lost their freedom and are under Communist domination. We seem to forget that the great objective of Communism is still world domination and control, which means the surrender of our freedom—your freedom—our sovereignty.

    On 3 July 1936, the First Presidency published this warning to Church members:

    “Communism is not a political party nor a political plan under the Constitution; it is a system of government that is the opposite of our Constitutional government. …

    “Since Communism, established, would destroy our American Constitutional government, to support Communism is treasonable to our free institutions, and no patriotic American citizen may become either a Communist or supporter of Communism. …

    “We call upon all Church members completely to eschew [shun] Communism. The safety of our divinely inspired Constitutional government and the welfare of our Church imperatively demand that Communism shall have no place in America” (signed: Heber J. Grant, J. Reuben Clark, Jr., David O. McKay, The First Presidency, in Deseret News, 3 July 1936; italics added).

    More recently, President Marion G. Romney, in the First Presidency Message in the September 1979 Ensign, wrote: “Communism is Satan’s counterfeit for the gospel plan, and … it is an avowed enemy of the God of the land. Communism is the greatest anti-Christ power in the world today and therefore the greatest menace not only to our peace but to our preservation as a free people. By the extent to which we tolerate it, accommodate ourselves to it, permit ourselves to be encircled by its tentacles and drawn to it, to that extent we forfeit the protection of the God of this land” (p. 5).

    The truth is, we have to a great extent accommodated ourselves to Communism—and we have permitted ourselves to become encircled by its tentacles. Though we give lip service to the Monroe Doctrine, this has not prevented Cuba from becoming a Soviet military base, ninety miles off our coastline, nor has it prevented the takeover of Nicaragua in Central America, the surrender of the Panama Canal, or the infiltration by enemy agents within our American borders.

    Never before has the land of Zion appeared so vulnerable to so powerful an enemy as the Americas do at present. And our vulnerability is directly attributable to our loss of active faith in the God of this land, who has decreed that we must worship Him or be swept off. Too many Americans have lost sight of the truth that God is our source of freedom—the Lawgiver—and that personal righteousness is the most important essential to preserving our freedom. So, I say with all the energy of my soul that unless we as citizens of this nation forsake our sins, political and otherwise, and return to the fundamental principles of Christianity and of constitutional government, we will lose our political liberties, our free institutions, and will stand in jeopardy before God.

    No nation which has kept the commandments of God has ever perished, but I say to you that once freedom is lost, only blood—human blood—will win it back.

    There are some things we can and must do at once if we are to stave off a holocaust of destruction.

    First: We must return to worship the God of this land, who is Jesus Christ. He has promised that the righteous will be preserved by His power (see 1 Ne. 22:17). But we must keep the commandments of God. We must pay our tithes and offerings, keep the Sabbath day a holy day, stay morally clean, be honest in all our dealings, and have our family and personal prayers. We must live the gospel.

    Second: We must awaken to “a sense of [our] awful situation, because of this secret combination which [is] among [us]” (Ether 8:24). We must not tolerate accommodation with or appeasement toward the false system of Communism. We must demand of our elected officials that we not only resist Communism, but that we will take every measure to prevent its intrusion into this hemisphere. It is vital that we invoke the Monroe Doctrine.

    Then we must put our trust in Him who has promised us His protection—and pray that He will intervene to preserve our freedom just as He intervened in our obtaining it in the first place.

    Third: We must do as the Lord commanded us by revelation in 1833: “Wherefore, honest men and wise men should be sought for diligently, and good men and wise men ye should observe to uphold; otherwise whatsoever is less than these cometh of evil” (D&C 98:10).

    Men who are wise, good, and honest, who will uphold the Constitution of the United States in the tradition of the Founding Fathers, must be sought for diligently. This is our hope to restore government to its rightful role.

    Last: We must study the inspired Constitution and become involved in the political process ourselves. I quote the First Presidency statement that was read in sacrament meetings on Sunday, 1 July 1979: “We encourage all members, as citizens of the nation, to be actively involved in the political process, and to support those measures which will strengthen the community, state, and nation—morally, economically, and culturally” (Letter from the First Presidency, 29 June 1979).

    I fully believe that we can turn things around in America if we have the determination, the morality, the patriotism, and the spirituality to do so.

    My single-minded concern is for the freedom and welfare of my countrymen and my posterity, the freedom of all men.

    I testify to you that God’s hand has been in our destiny. I testify that freedom as we know it today is being threatened as never before in our history. I further witness that this land—the Americas—must be protected, its Constitution upheld, for this is a land foreordained to be the Zion of our God. He expects us as members of the Church and bearers of His priesthood to do all we can to preserve our liberty.

    May God bless us that, with His help, we will not fail to bring to pass His purposes on earth. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

    For those of us who are not wet behind our ears, and for those who have lived long enough to know the difference between crap and apple butter, the government is good at basically TWO things. First, government is always sneaky in creating unnecessary taxes. Second, government is diabolical when it comes to being a FRAUD.
    Now that “GOD” Himself[?] is in the White House, we can look forward MORE taxes, more FRAUD, more ILLEGAL REDISTRIBUTION OF OUR WEALTH and America’s progressives will continue to scream, rant and rave about taxes being too low, government being too small and how conservatives are to blame for EVERYTHING under the sun.
    Are we to think that anyone who makes much less than $250,000 a year is RICH? Until someone can prove me WRONG, I will continue to believe that according to the “GOD” in the White House, anyone who makes as much as $5,000 a year is filthy RICH and MUST be mercilously TAXED.

      In your opinion, what would it take to “make things right for the American Indian”? Or make things right for the American Japanese interned during WW 2 or the Chinese, the African Americans, etc? Why is it up to the children of the sinful Father to “make things good? I’m associated with a tribal authority of the Paiute tribe and he and I together have worked for years to help this people free themselves from the hurtful habits that keep them shackled and dependent on the Government teat. We have also recognized the cultural truth that this tribe’s culture is their own worst enemy in modern day America, specifically the cultural and collective attitude that no one in the tribe should aspire to be “better than” or better off” than any other brother or sister in the tribe. In my 30 years working with these kind and generous people, we have yet to see even ONE child of the local tribe graduate from high school. I’ve seen MANY get as close of one credit of graduation only to watch them turn their backs on a diploma and walk away. What more would you have us/me do?

        Funding for the PEF comes from generous donations from members of the Church and other organizations. It is a revolving resource from which money is loaned to an individual to help pay for education or training that leads to a viable, local job. Participants then pay back the loan at a low interest rate.

        A young man in Mexico City who studied to become a dental technician said, “My promise upon finishing my studies at the technical school with the help of the Perpetual Education Fund is to repay the loan so that other returned missionaries can enjoy these blessings.”

        It’s this reciprocal nature of the program that Elder Carmack says helps build future leaders.

        “The idea is to build people and have them become as self-reliant and self-sufficient as possible,” said Elder Carmack.

        Reports indicate that already more than 10 percent of the Church’s local ecclesiastical leaders from Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela are graduates of the program. President Monson has said the PEF effort is expanding and that “those young people are finding jobs and they’re able to repay the loans. The Perpetual Education Fund is a miracle that will go far into the future.”

        President Monson and other Church leaders have made significant promises about the impact of the PEF for participants, their families, the Church and their communities. Promises being fulfilled include high graduation rates, significant employment opportunities, positive loan repayment and personal financial prosperity, despite difficult living and economic conditions for many Church members worldwide.

          The one thing I miss about the LDS Church is the devotion to community (ie church members.) I have never known a Church with the level of support your church shows (though I have seen the darker side as well.) It was once a common part of everyday life, but it seems that Mayberry has all but been lost. I spent most of the last 20 years living in a small town in No. CA where we all came together to help one another in times of crises and need. If all towns were like mine there would be little need for Federal aid to individuals, and little opportunity for those who would rather cheat the system then work. Unfortunately, life isn’t like that.

            I believe in any religion there are many sorts of people. Those who are seekers of truth with a desire to make a valiant effort to be honorable and to make the world a better place for those around them. Then there are those who join a church for social reasons and applying what they learn when it is convenient. I am not perfect and realize it is impossible to be perfect in this life. I’ve made many foolish mistakes and when I recognize them I work harder not to make the same mistake. This is why an atonement was made. We do our best and let God take up the rest. I may judge others but I don’t believe I should ever condemn another. Jesus Christ came to save not to condemn. We can only condemn ourselves. We choose weather we will stand or fall.

      Who can impeach a president? Impeachment resolutions must be made by members of the House of Representatives and then turned over to the House Judiciary Committee? Maybe the House of Representatives loves Obama and his agenda?

        Has the President used our tax dollars to aid our Enemies? Is he giving aid and comfort to those terrorist he has placed in our legal system instead of a military trial? These are questions not statements. I have many questions.

          It depends on your view of terrorists. If you consider them soldiers, then putting them into our legal system and offering them paid defense may seem like aid and comfort. If, as the administration does you consider them criminals who have violated our laws, then no. Since the terrorists are not affiliated with any one government and are not any country’s army, it’s easy to see how they might be treated as criminals.

            The terrorists may not be part of a “formal” army, but those Middle East countries do support them or they could not afford to exist. Terrorists care nothing for innocents or the damage they do. They belong to a group with an ideology that anything goes in their quest to take over another country.             What is your understanding of Amendment V and Amendment VI? I understand the need for our country to have armed forces, but it does seem kinda silly when law abiding citizens have less rights than murders (they often are let out to kill more law abiding citizens). I’ve always been in favor of Capital Punishment. We know the US Constitution is only upheld when convenient. For instance, what happened “to speedy and public trial”?

          I made another big mistake! We should be able to delete our goofs. I was trying to cut and paste the Constitutional part not the part about Bush and Cheney, because I don’t know anything about their supposed treachery. For all I know Bush was just doing the best he knew how without harming our country.     I really like this newsletter! I will admit that I have never took much interest in politics or of the running of the Government until very recently! Newsletters like this one ,have changed my opinion on so many things. Every day I am searching for more news and then I forward to friends and family! I have to wonder what this COUNTRY would have been like if I had become more involved years ago! I always thought I was a middle of the road,neither left or right, but with what’s happening today, I have discovered I have shifted to the far RIGHT! PLEASE educate yourself from original source documents and your own hard work of learning. You were dupped by Obama because you, like many other citizens I know, were not critically thinking about what he was saying. The word he used and the things he said were amazingly transparent but we citizens were lazy in our listening and our thinking. We didn’t think critically about what it meant to fundamentally change our country. We didn’t have the good luck of hearing him say that through Cap &Trade we would see our energy costs increase so much we couldn’t afford to sustain coal powered electricity which is the majority of the way we get out power in this country. It doesn’t help that the media is no longer serving it’s prime function as a check on government power.

      I predict that today with the leak of the government military documents at the Pentagon and elsewhere by this Wikileak guy that you will see our government use this as a perfectly good sounding reason to now start regulating the Internet by the citizens.. Kiss the last bastion of freedom goodbye, folks. I don’t believe for a second that these leaks were coincidentally timed to fall immediately after our government seized power over out lives through health care, our property through the financial reform act. The only thing left is our liberty of speech, right to assemble, right to worship and the right of movement. As you begin to see these final remaining dominos fall, you will know the time of great danger is near. This nation will be on it’s knees before most citizens even know what hit them.     Government is the largest employer in far too many of our communities. With the Stimulus focusing on keeping bureaucrats and their little governmental fiefdoms ‘well staffed’ (it’s axiomatic that government employee’s always vote in favor of more government), it’s understandable that more and more citizens want ‘government jobs’ as opposed to ‘private sector’ jobs where results are expected. Likewise axiomatic in this dynamic is the fact that government jobs are also Union jobs. As taxes rise to the point they impinge on the lifestyles of government union workers, the Union’s likewise must go back to the well (the private sector taxpayer) for even more taxes. It’s virtually impossible to fire a government worker (ask anyone who’s ever been a Teacher or a Police Officer) for incompetence. Throw in the lucrative pensions and benefits that government workers get, and you can appreciate why bureaucrats will never sign off on tax reductions. In the private sector, our pay increases are limited by the willingness of consumers to accept cost increases. In the government sector, there are no such limits as government workers are allowed to write checks that taxpayers really have no hope of cashing.

      According to “The Heritage Foundation” we have until January 1, 2011. So we can get ulcers just thinking about what will happen when that day comes.

More Americans are working today than ever in our history, both in total numbers and as a percentage of the workforce.       I believe the way it works is the Bush tax cuts will expire on Jan.1,2011 unless Congress acts to extend them. If they do nothing, they will expire automatically. Another good reason to vote the bums out. You can bet the lame ducks will let them expire.

During the 1980s ERTA had reduced personal tax rates by about 25 percent, while the Tax Reform Act of 1986 chopped them yet again.

    High marginal tax rates discourage work effort, saving, and investment, and promote tax avoidance and tax evasion. A reduction in high marginal tax rates would boost long term economic growth, and reduce the attractiveness of tax shelters and other forms of tax avoidance. The economic benefits of ERTA were summarized by President Clinton’s Council of Economic Advisers in 1994: “It is undeniable that the sharp reduction in taxes in the early 1980s was a strong impetus to economic growth.” Unfortunately, the Council could not bring itself to acknowledge the counterproductive effects high marginal tax rates can have upon taxpayer behavior and tax avoidance activities.

    why don`t the congress and the president obey the constitution and deal in the only thing the constitution says is money. congress is to coin money (gold and silver) and regulate the value there of. That is the only thing that is money. and to print paper countefiets is illegal. we would not have even 1 tenth of the problems that we do if we had been obeying the constitution and only use gold and silver as money as the constitution demands. you would not be able to have giant deficets because you could not spend what you do not have. you could only tax that which as the constitution says tarriffs and business. direct taxes are forbidin. your earnings are not taxable. I do not know how we are being taxed by the fereral government. the federal government is only allowed to get revenues from tarriffs and from the states not the people. that way the states would control the spending of the federal government. the local state politicians would be answerable to the local officials and would get great heartache trying to explain taxing the people such high taxes when they are not needed. there is much more but you get the point.

    Liberal/progressives who criticize Republican administrations periodically need to be reminded of something..that conservatives have a problem with Republican leaders. Conservative economic ideas work. The problem with Republican leaders is that they often don’t faithfully execute these ideas and the values behind them. A combination of term limits and congressional rule changes is needed to make politicians more accountable.

    The Mexican border should be shut down but another border around dc should be made into a jail. The empty promises, things aren’t getting better. One thing I would like to see is strip these incumbents of their titles and put them into a conventional work force and let them see things on the ground and then remove their hard earned pay for taxes. It seems to me if they want everything in a common pot that is no different from the failings of marxism, socialism and everything else. At least we had jobs before Both Bush and Obama were in office. Giving tax breaks for outsourcing our jobs is criminal. We need our jobs here, the government out of our everyday lives and pockets.     The Flat Tax theory is ok but the real consumption tax is the “Fair Tax” which would eliminate all federal taxes along with the IRS. It is not regressive as it rebates all sales taxes paid up to the povety level. As 22% of all purchases are the result of taxes paid along the way, purchase amounts would eventually be reduced around the amount of the sales tax. the VAT does not replace taxes, it only adds to the tax base.

    No matter where the comments come from, postings such as the ones here, or those made by our grand and glorious media. Everything that happens in our government is credited to the President, be it favorable or unfvorable. If one reads our Consti-tution carefully they will find that the very first part of our Constitution, Article l, Section l. states “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which will consist of a Senate and a House of Representives”. We had a Democratic Congress for 40 years starting with President Trumans administration, whereby we began giving money to almost every country on the globe. And now, for some reason, we are so far in debt that our children, their children, and great grandchildren, may not be able to pay it off. We borrow money from China, and then give 500 Million to Pakistan. Explain that to me, if you can, and then tell me that our taxes are going up. When taxes are talked about, it is always only income taxes. We also have real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and, in our city we have three sales taxes on everything we purchase, including food. If Obama has his way, we will probably not have to worry about taxes, for we will own nothing and wiill have no money. The Socialist state will care for us just like the do in Russio, Cuba, China, etc. As for me I will hang on to my bible and my guns, and prepare for the time when Obama declares a national emergency. If our Congress does their job, the President will not be able to declare an emergency.. The President has power only to enforce the laws that Congress has enacted, and, we should remember that the Sureme Court has only the power to determine if the laws enacted by Congress are Constitutional.

    To many elderly retirees, if not most, the biggest problem with full reversal of the Bush era tax cuts is the enormous increase in Capital Gains, Dividend and interest (“unearned” income), and inheritance tax rules. Dividend taxes alone jump 164%, and capital gains 33%. The inheritance tax threshhold will be reset at from no limit to $1 million. Aside from SS payments, this is money that has already been taxed at least once during their lifetimes. Because most private sector companies have shifted from “defined benefit” (pensions)to “defined contribution” retirement plans (ie. IRA and 401k plans) these sources now indeed make up their income base. Yet their uncovered medical costs alone are growing rapidly. For example nursing homes can cost from $7,000 to $10,000 a month, NOT covered by Medicare. Medicare and suplementary insurance coverages continue to drop, while monthly rates increase. Yet public pensions, in many states, aren’t taxed at all, and public pensioners are often guaranteed full coverage by their former governement employers.
    The reason that the rates on dividend taxes were dropped in 2003 to 15% were partly in recognition of the change in retirment dependencies; and partly to encourage investment. To my knowledge there has been no discussion of this issue at all, which discriminates on the elderly who do not receive public, or union negotiated pensions.

There will be no comfort for the less fortunate when the cost of goods skyrocket because of higher taxation and wasteful spending resulting in more job layoffs. A genuine famine is coming. Those at the bottom income tier who believe the “soak the rich” class envy bait tactic will suffer first.     I paid into a 401 with after tax money and was guarented that I would be taxed at 15 % tax rate. now I am in retirement (i paid social security payments into the social security fund and will be paying taxes on my social security because i will be taking out money from my 401 K and they will tax me again. i get taxed to put it in and I get taxed to get it out, but they changed the rules and instead of 15% I will be taxed at 39$ because they want to make me a slave and destroy my life so I will be a pauper. sounds like communism and you voted to do this to me and millions of americans that did as I did so we would not be a burden to my kids and to my government. now I want to tell you all that I Hope that you throw all the bums out of office and if necessary you overthrow the government restore our country to the greatness our founding fathers made this country before the electorate decided to throw our way of life.you want illegals to get treated well even though they have broke our laws.     The President submits a Budget Resolution, as required by law, in February. It is a TOTAL budget not a list of appropriations.
    The President tells Congress how much he wants to spend in TOTAL.
    Congress may revise it. They did to Obama 2010 Budget.They cut it by about 100B. He accepted it. It has become so routine most presidents do not bother to sign it.

    His itemized appropriation expenditures went to Congress and they revise-cut-increase inside of 13 bills.It has always been this method.
    The TOTAL stays intact. Yet! Congress can come out with a Total More or less than Resolution and it may be negotiated in Conference.
    Reagan sent 8 budgets and Congress returned them with fewer dollars than his Resolution. He accepted it.
    Presidents go nuts over revisions inside appropriations.
    That is why they want a Line Item Veto. They can veto ONLY a total appropriations package.

    The President acts as a CEO. He submits corporation expenditures and they accept or revise. CEO is held responsible for results.
    The president can Veto appropriation bills. Ford was master at it.

    Earmarks. Not called it in President budgets but each one is loaded.
    Especially Pentagon.

    Well, I have to say that I have really enjoyed the comments here. I see points that have merit in most cases. I won’t get into the mystical magic of how budgets are contrived. What I will get into is how politicians in whole (on all sides) have somewhat sold their souls in order to advance personal agendas. Life would be great if all of congress were like Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Reality is, some go with good intentions but all succumb to the back rooms deals. Congress has become big business. Yes congressmenladies and presidents walk out with nice parting gifts like perpetual pay and even protections. But moreover, they directly impact laws that best benefit them. Very few made millions on the actual seat they served. Their money comes through laws that bankroll long term personal investments.
    Take welfare as an example. Kinetics and a bunch of others make good points on helping those who do not help themselves. Unfortunately, the problem is that welfare used to be a charitable effort, managed at a more local level but has turned into a lucrative planks, which many use to help build their political careers. This puts a manageable welfare program outside attainable reach.
    Kinetics, based on my observations through reading your positions, I feel fairly confident that you would support increasing minimum wage to assist in bringing these folks out of the pit of poverty and back on their productive feet. At first glance this seems a plausible and a correct course of action. But reality is, that consumer pricing will rise in parallel with the adjust rise in labor costs. It is similar to your discussion about flat tax. It seems proportionate at the surface but once you dissect the issue, you find that the math just does not work. It’s kinda like the get rich schemes out there. “This program will make everyone in America millionaires”. Unless you realize that everyone has no more usable capital that when they first started.
    To fix welfare, you must make it an unpalatable short term assistance program. One that weans the participant off of the program in a reasonable yet short amount of time. You reduce the benefits over a fixed span of time and at the end of that time, they’re done. And the most important part, there are no federal dollars spent on this. It must not extend beyond the state level.
    I worked in the Missouri Department of Corrections for some years and listened to all the welfare schemes that inmates woulddid use. All of them would have been thwarted by a fixed time program.
    Someone spent a very large amount of energy speaking to the evil that Mr. Soro’s has done. I fundamentally and whole heartedly agree with the overall assessment. I submit that we as American’s have allowed unrealistic ideology infiltrate our nation. This entitlement movement was spawned long before Mr. Soros but he has definitely expedited the current situation. Case in point:
    The wife and I have 4 children, relatively close in age . College would be a hard goal to attain for them through our saving. We decided the best course of action would be to pay for any debt they occured at the end of 4 years. No more, no less and only if they graduated. This does two things. 1. It reduces the amount that I would have to pay because they would be working for some of it through school. 2. More overly, it puts the drive to succeed and work for what they have. Our second oldest, while filling out his FASFA (required if you want any help, private or public) he showed me a gov’t website that explained how it is the parent’s duty to pay for college.
    I’m sorry. Someone forgot to tell my parents that. I had to pay for my own to include the loans and interest while taking care of a family of 6. I spent nearly 2 years in Jr. college and worked full and part time with two jobs. I graduated ahead of schedule with magna cum laud honors. My adjusted gross income was $6000 for the year 2000 and the only assistance I took was the earned income credit. That’s IT. No pat on my own back here. I thank God and my parents who instilled proper morals and work ethic.
    Yes there are kids out their whose parents genuinely do not care or just aren’t there. But again, local assistance can better supply for the needs. Washington is too far away and has too many hands in between.
    The moral fiber of this country, be it faith based or just plain common sense, has been eroded to almost non-existence. I have seen some talk about trickle up economics and trickledown economics. It’s all trickledown economics. You either have the rich passing it down or you have the government passing it down.
    And in rebuttal to a comment asking about why guns should or shouldn’t be registered. I spent some years in the military over in Europe back in the 70′s. I am not history buff but somewhat a fan. Do some research on gun control in Europe if you ever get a chance. You’ll find it has a history that far exceeds ours (mainly due to WWI). One of the first things Hitler’s machine did as they conquered towns, was to go to the local gov’t buildings and determine who had the guns. They were the first targets. Can’t do that if they aren’t registered. Background checks??? ABSOLUTELY. And if it takes 3 days so what. Your stupid for waiting that close to hunting season to go get the gun.
    America has not has a major ground invasion by a foreign power in centuries. Why? Because there are more guns and fire power in the civilian hands than in the US military (short of nukes). That is also why saying that any President would turn the military (constitutional or not) on a large sector of America, is implausible. As for the Chinese, they may have millions in the military as compared to the US military, but the US population far exceeds their military in armed personnel.
    Health Care: I am diabetic, I personally have a hard time getting insurance if not employeed. Should we force insurance companies to allow for pre-existing conditions? Yes. Should I have to pay a higher premium for it. Absolutely. No need for someone else to pick up my tab. Can’t afford that? Get Medicaid. Those who have legitimate reasons for not getting health insurance can get Medicaid today. Daughter-in-Law was on it when she was pregnant with my grand-daughter. Son’s job didn’t offer it and she was an at home Mom. Medicaid picked up her bill. Don’t need the gov’t getting any further involved in my plan in order to help someone else. Again, they control Medicaid and look at how well they run that program. Just imagine how well they’ll run a larger program.
    The one size fits all program they set up is idiotic. It’s like a corporate plan. I have to pay more for insurance because my company has to cover some 20,000 people’s different conditions. Conditions that I don’t have and never will. I understand that insurance works like a social program: Those in good health pay for those not in good health. I get that. The difference is, I can choose to leave the plan and pick up my own that better suits me. The gov’t would love for you to believe that the corporate plans will not be affected, but that just doesn’t wash with basic facts. Regulations that are in the bill will drive the cost up. Most experts on both side singing this tune now that it passed. Businesses will find it fiscally prudent to drop the plans and pay the penalty. That drives the larger community to where? Ah yes, the federal program.
    Again, I have been around the world and been in several countries with Socialized medicine. It does not work for one reason or the other. Waits are long. The gov’t cannot sustain the cost without heavier taxation (crazy taxes at that). Long waits. Hospitals closing because they cannot afford to stay open. Lack of Dr. because to the cost of school, malpractice vs. pay. It can be any given combination of these. Most that are for it have never been to one of these countries and seen it firsthand. They just listen to talking heads who say they know.
    As far as death panels: Holland (which is where I lived for 4 years) is a great example. In 2006, the Netherlands passed a law that allowed doctor’s to kill a child that is deemed to have a future with poor quality of life. Abortions are no longer the limit in this endeavor to eradicate those who are deemed socially unacceptableunwanted.
    California passed a law that required end of life options. This includes removal of all life supporting treatments. It is found in section 4 of the law. LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL’S DIGEST AB 2747, Berg. End-of-life care.

    My parting thoughts:
    1. The gold standard should be revived to ensure true value of the dollar.
    2. The fed reserve should be destroyed.
    3. The federal gov’t should relinquish all social programs to the states where the dollars, accountabilty and social fabric are closer to home.
    4. Congress should have term limits. Lame ducks or long term morons. Either will cause havoc. At least with term limits you have a little more control over the lame ducks.
    5. Health care should be and will be a choice that only the citizen has rights to choose without mandate prejudice or coersion.

    the counrty can survive only when the government faces the fact that you do not reward lazyness. when people see that they can set on their duffs and be rewarded with other peoples money for no effort or attempt. if the welfare people were told they would have to go down to a work camp to work digging ditches or other type of work that they would go out and find work, because that is hard work and they so not want that kind of work, and since they need money to exist welfare would cease. the salvaation army and other charities will help them as a starter but you have to try to get a job. they will not keep giving you money for nothing. when congress realizes that illegal alliens are have no right to the peoples money and no subsidies to go on a funding them and that they Congresses has no diriction by the constitution to take from the citizens of the united states and dispersse it to the illegal alleins. the many hundreds of billions of dollars dispersed by congress to do this is unfathomable to me and millions of americans. if you want poverty for america than that is the route to so it. If you want a strong america and follow the constitution than congress must cease and desist this illegal operation. we are in debt because congress violates the constitution.

    by the way for the people who want religion banned, and the false repersentatation of the constitution I want you to read the constitution. It says congress shall pass no law establishing a religion, not prohibiting it. when the constitution was ratified, there were several states with state religions. they did not ban them in the constitution. they knew that five states in particular would not have passed the constitution. and the united states would not have existed. people know not what they speak.
