The Government Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Proof

September 12, 2012 by

The Government Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Proof

Joan Langbord was going through her late father’s possessions in 2003 when she and her sons found 10 1933 St. Gaudens Double Eagle $20 gold coins in a bank deposit box. Trusting the government, Langbord took the coins to the U.S. Mint to get them authenticated.

Claiming the coins were stolen from the Mint in 1933, the government seized them and locked them away in Fort Knox. In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered all gold pieces confiscated and melted into gold bars. Most were. But some gold coins survived. A similar coin sold at auction in 2003 for $7.5 million, so the Federal government essentially stole $80 million from Langbord without compensating her.

Langbord went to court to get the coins back. Of course, Federal judges are employees of the U.S. government and are loath to rule against their employers. Such was the case this time.

The government claims Langbord’s father, Israel Switt, a jeweler who died in 1990, stole the coins from the Mint. Switt was investigated in the 1930s and 1940s. In 1944, his license to deal scrap gold was revoked. His alleged partner in crime was a Mint employee named George McCann who was also investigated in the 40s. Charges against the two were dropped.

The government could not say how Switt obtained the coins. Being a coin dealer, he could have obtained them legally. That didn’t matter to the judge, who ruled the double eagles belonged to the government “regardless of… how the coins came into the claimant’s possession.”

I am often asked if the government could once again choose to confiscate gold from individuals. The clear answer is: yes, if the government knows you have it. Buy gold; just don’t tell anyone — especially the government.

As far as the government is concerned, EVERYTHING you own belongs to them. Land, car, possessions, clothing, whatever – it is actually theirs on loan to you. If they want it, they will take it. And you can do nothing about it except to fight back – and that is a losing position unless everyone does it.

    • 45caliber

The way the government looks at it, YOU belong to the government.

      • s c

45caliber, it’s high time that the Amerikan people had a face-to-face, heated discussion with Uncle Scam. We’ve been told for generations that WE “don’t need gold” (Amerikans, that is), and that gold is a “barbaric relic.” However, when Uncle Scam gets a chance to grab some easy money [and it amounts to a big chunk of big bucks] that’s somehow “different.”
Uncle Scam is hypocrisy incarnate, to be polite. Uncle Scam sucks it through a large straw. Uncle Scam is a third-rate, career criminal. Uncle Scam needs his face rearranged. Uncle Scam isn’t fit to take out the trash, let alone live according to the CONSTITUTION.
Show me the TITLE of that gold. That gold belongs to the Amerikan people.
Uncle Scam, career criminal that he is, thinks he’s above the laws of the land. I don’t need any further PROOF that it’s NOT possible to BUY leadership. Bring in the Mafia so we can get a better deal. At least we’ll know where we really stand 24/7 with generational ‘entrepreneurs.’

  • James Maxwell

When it comes to pure and simple greed the Federal governmetn minions had no
problem confiscating any thing they want. They do not have to have a legal claim
or reason just the desire to steal it. Look at the treadies we had with the Native
Americans, when corrupt individuals discovered gold on thier lands they took the
land and treadies be dammed. Same when Oil was discovered on reservations.
What make you think they will not try to confiscate our weapons or any thing else
if they want to? When they cease to fear the citizens of a nation then the corruption
becomes rampant and you lose your freedoms.

    • Larry K.

that’s why i say…never give up your guns.

      • Harold Olsen

I do not like guns and do not own any. However, should Obama get reelected, I’m seriously considering going out and buy a couple. I suspect that if he does get reelected one of the first things he will attempt to do is make it illegal to own guns.

    • MarathonMan

Add to your list the finding gold in the Paha Sapa (Black Hills, SD) by the Custer expedition, then the subsequent subjugation of the Sioux. The Federal Govmt. (thru the Army) disarmed the people, promised food, shelter and healthcare, put them on the Rez and then forgot about them. Sound familiar?????

    • MarathonMan

Firearms Confiscation, suspension of the Second Amendment , and the surrendering of US sovereignty to the UN.

Hillary’s/ Obama’s ATT UN treaty is aiming to do exactly that.

If you are not aware of the provisions of the ATT read up on it and understand
why Obama and democrats MUST BE STOPPED!

Don’t be too sure Mitt will save you. Mitt Romney gets a D- from Gun Owners of America:

DaveH – This is really cool.

This is a historical timeline of the rise of the NWO, beginning with the Rothschild dynasty.

It covers their involvement in world events, especially in America.

If everyone would read this, we’d all understand how we got to where we are now. The rise of the NWO has depended on secrecy, and men have been killed to keep it secret. Those who have seen what happens when they talk about it are kept silent. Forbidden history.

Gold was taken, because the Big banks wanted everyone on paper money. It could be printed and printed. Not based on anything it could become worthless.China wants the USA to pay off its loan in Gold and Silver, they dont want no stinking greenbacks !!! The Fed has been buying up gold and silver.

    • Celtic Rune

True, you can buy gold and not tell anyone, but…….. if the government makes owning precious metals a felony… would be running a high risk if you try to purchase with it, trade it or move it out of the country. Whenever you brought it out for any reason, you would risk confiscation and prison. This kind of defeats the whole purpose for owning gold. Silver, I would think would be a better choice for intrinsic trade because it has so many industrial uses, I doubt they would ban ownership. To ban silver they would shut down electronics production, cell phones, tvs, radios, dvd players, medicines, traffic control devices….not to mention x-rays and their related equipment.

      • dan

        There’s no market like a Black Market…and that ain’t racist :)

      • Chester

Actually, gold is used any place you want a clean, long term electrical connection with high conductivity. Gold does not tarnish or corrode, so is ideal for such purposes. It also conducts better than silver, so is better in those ultra miniature circuits used inside so many computer chips and on the pc boards used to make computers. So it does nave an actual commercial value other than just the fact that it is GOLD.

      • Winddrinker

Government is watching. They know when anyone buys gold just like they know when a person buys a gun. If you own gold you are on their list. They want to know where the gold can be found, just like they want to knon where the guns can be found.

Go ahead and make big investments in gold but you may not get to keep it. There is a chance that you will lose all the money you spent for its purchase.. If the country continues on its path, people will be left with nothing of value. They will be able to hide some things for their personal use, but nothing that must be used in public, even private transactions. Those transactions may prove to be dangerous. Try pulling out gold to buy food or other essentials, and you may not make it home. If you are not turned into the government by informants, then the thugs will follow you! Frankly, it may not be safe to own gold, when civilization breaks down….

Saw a documentary about the building of “Safe rooms” by the wealthy.
Some are small and some are built to accommodate 1,000 or more. A few have been built to accommodate up to 10,000. You can bet the government has a few of these the size of towns. The facilities are underground and built to disappear into the country-side, unseen. There are several doors that must be breached before getting into the facilities.
Some people are taking great precautions to isolate themselves from the destruction they believe is coming.

    • 45caliber

Actually, the reason gold was taken was that most people had deposited their gold in banks. The bank owners realized that they could sell that gold for more in Europe – and did. They issued paper money to cover the gold they had sold (basically stealing it). When the people began to realize what was happening, they made a run on the banks, demanding the gold they had deposited back. FDR’s family owned one of the biggest banks in the US so he got the law passed making it illegal to own gold to protect his family and his wealth. The government then bought what gold remained in the banks to protect the bankers.

      • Winddrinker

Obumscum care includes giving the government a right to confiscate any and all gold owned by citizens…
And, this time, it won’t have anything to do with the saving of banks.

      • soldier

What I fail to understand, is how “the greatest generation” that stormed the beaches of Normandy under heavy machine gun fire, withstood heavy artillery barrages during the battle of the buldge, etc., etc., would be such cowards when FDR confiscated gold??? LOL, WTF????

    • Jody L

There were other reasons as well. We were tapped out after being dragged (see the history of the Lusitania) into WWI for purposes of holding up the British pound. Thanks to our ‘safety net’ of the federal reserve, the United States went into bankruptcy in 1933. The federal reserve actually confiscated our gold legally, thanks to an executive order signed by FDR. The following year, 1934, they confiscated silver but did not make it illegal to own. We were not allowed to own gold again until Gerald Ford. And as far as executive orders go and what the gov’t does and does not own, the ONLY thing left out of his executive orders of confiscation, where the actual people and now the DNC has closed that gap.

  • Sirian

Can the government confiscate your precious metals? YES, the law written in back under FDR still stands. Congress has never rescinded it. You can buy gold or silver and not leave a paper trail. It’s much easier than many realize. All you have to do is look around – shop a little. Stay away from the ones advertised on TV, they will have a paper trail that will lead to you quite easily. The dealer we have worked with have never, NEVER, listed us in any form of paperwork, government forms or otherwise. Get what you can while you can. No telling what will come about in the months to come.

    • Winddrinker

Sirian, Even pawn shops leave a paper trail What kind of person are you talking about that doesn’t report sales income, to the government?

I would like to be around when you bring out your bag of gold and try to go shopping, if civilization breaks down.. You better buy gold in the form of jewelry or watches. That way criminals might believe that you were lucky and just have one item…otherwise, you can kiss family goodbye.

      • Sirian

Just look around, shop a little, you’ll find a place that won’t leave a paper trail of any sort.

    • LC

Personally I wouldn’t buy gold for a couple of reasons.
      1) You will be traced and listed
      2) You call too much attention to yourself and family
      3) Gov’t will try to control gold making it a felony to possess
      4) Laws will be upheld by most law enforcement before future civil war
      5) Felons can’t possess or own guns
      6) Gestapo type patrols will go house to house
      7) Standing your ground without a neighborhood coalition means your dead
      8) Concerned sympathetic gov’t citizens ( THINK SHEEPLE) will snitch you out
      9) Food shortages and those unprepared when the shoe drops
      10) Provisions will be worth more than gold to most
Your plan is to hide in a hole for seven years? Technology is such that even being underground won’t hide you. Radio transmissions can be detected. Thermal imaging. HAARP uses radio waves to detect underground structures.
BE VIGILANTE!! The best anyone can do, when gestapo comes to your town, is not be home and snipe as many as you can before they kill you. If you get two and then they get you, eventually WE will win.

Well it’s time to put the fear of the people back into the government and the only way I see to do that is to hang all of them and start fresh so the new people will understand that we the people are very serious about putting the government back in to the power of the people

  • roy tillotson

I would like to be at hanging as front row observer.

FDR was a criminal. Show me in Article 1, Section 8 of the CONstitution where the gubbyment has the pwer to take anything from its rightful owner. That BS executive order applied only to federal employees and residents of the District of Criminals

    America is about terminally ill…

  • dan

Bureaucrats and petty tyrants will bully us with their made up laws and regulations and procedures until we develop the backbone to put them in their place…natural law for the sovereign man is our birthright….anybody remember signing it away ?

    • Chester

So, Dan, back to MIGHT MAKES RIGHT again? That is the basic outcome of the rule you seem to prefer, which means anyone who isn’t as strong as you are is YOUR PROPERTY! That is not what this country was founded on, but so many idiots keep wanting to go back to it. Tell you what, there are a number of places in central Africa where the people believe exactly as you do, so why don’t you take your dreams of natural law for sovereign man to a place where they can play out in their natural setting, no other laws to interfere.

      • dan

You don’t need to go to Africa….ask a Native American Indian how treaties and mollification work .
it’s not so much about MIGHT as being willing and able to defend you rights…or make it untenable for others to usurp them.

Don’t forget that it was largely Islamic/Moores Africans capturing and enslaving Africans
and the first slave owner in America was a black tobacco farmer just as it’s largely
Islamics that encourage enslavement of infidel unbelievers today.

      • MarathonMan

Yes Chester … Like it or not …Might is right! it is simply a question of in who’s hands the MIGHT resides ………….Either with Government or “We The People”.

American history is rife with Government MIGHT. Start with the Monroe Doctrine and Manafest Destiny. Then there was the “Alamo” which lead to the US Mexican War.

The US government never kept a treaty made with Native American, Stole money from the Social security piggy bank and Obamacare stole $ 716 Billion from Medicare and will line up seniors before bureaucrat death panels. Eventually, you will be in that line.
So, why would you think they will keep any promise to its citizens.

The federal government will do to its people what the elected politicians deem necessary; It is their call. So, vote wisely.

The Founding Fathers had a great idea for this country that included a balance of “States Rights” with the Federal Governments role. To bad the Federal Government and its politicians have gained to much control over every thing we do.

The words of Thomas Jefferson …
“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government”………. And B.H.Obama (AKA: BARRY SOETORRO )and Hillary Clinton are ‘fixing” the Second Amendment problem with the upcoming UN small arms treaty ( ATT)

      • Winddrinker

Chester. Stand up and become an American. It doesn’t sound like you know what that means..

The only reason this country exists is because there were patriots that wanted freedom badly enough they were willing to fight for it. Where are those kind of patriots today.

Freedom is not a gift nor is it a product of compromise. Freedom is kept only if the people are willing to demand it, then strong enough to keep it.

This applies to countries as well…Peace through Strength. The power must be in the right hands.

      • DaveH

Chester says — “So, Dan, back to MIGHT MAKES RIGHT again? That is the basic outcome of the rule you seem to prefer, which means anyone who isn’t as strong as you are is YOUR PROPERTY! That is not what this country was founded on, but so many idiots keep wanting to go back to it”.
No Chester, it isn’t what this country was founded on. But then, you and your Liberal Progressive cohorts got together and changed that, didn’t you? Now, thanks to people like you, Chester, Government takes our money at will for any pretend purpose they can dream up. Apparently you have been asleep. Government uses Might to make their Right every day in this country.

  • Glen

“God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. …
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
    It is its natural manure.”

(Thomas Jefferson, (1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President
Source: November 13, 1787, letter to William S. Smith, quoted in Padover’s Jefferson On Democracy, ed., 1939

    • MarathonMan

      Well stated Glen;
Gald you took the time to post that quote lengthy from T.J.
I didn’t think Chester could read his way thru that particular quote and would have been especially confused with the last sentence.
Also, nice referencing of the source, I beginning to wondering how may folks know the Founding Fathers, especially Jefferson and Adams, and the exceptional-ism that came from their efforts.
One this for sure, the Obama-ites out there haven’t a clue.

  • Smithkowitz

So how do you reach the general population and those who serve as puppets of the military and law enforcement machine, that are convinced the laws in place are for our own safety and benefit?

    • MarathonMan

      Take away their pay.

  • samnjoeysgrama

If you have your gold in an IRA or 401K, be aware, there has already been a bill trying to confiscate the private retirement plans in the House that was tabled. You would get coupons for some government retirement program as compensation, because after all, individuals are too foolish to invest their own money safely. However, (at some point, you have enough money according to Obama), so it is likely the amount you could cash in at any given time would be restricted. Ain’t central planning and socialism great?

  • Dad

What Langbord should have done is send the coin to a coin grading service, like PCGS, they would have verified the coins were real and given them a grade. After that she could have sold them or auctioned them off.

  • Jody L

” Buy gold; just don’t tell anyone you have it.”
In this day and age, how does one accomplish this. Any credit/debit card transaction is documented and information is collected should you pay cash at a coin shop. So how does the average person accomplish this. (In China, they now have vending machines for such transactions, but in America, we are monitored.)

    • Alexander Kwai Jones

Just go somewhere like Thailand buy it cash and carry since there gold is almost pure gold and where it back no questions asked

i have been getting silver halves from ebay, specializing in bright uncirculated rolls. probably ebay will gladly turn their records over to the feds so my announcement here doesn’t affect their security one way or the other. however these are money as issued by the us govt unlike krugs or maples.

    • C1991C

What does it matter whether the Fed says they’re money or not? Gold coins are valuable for their intrinsic value, not for whatever value is written on them. A Krugerrand and an Eagle both have 1 Troy ounce of gold.

    So what is new here?
Did not Obama and the democrats take 716 Billion form the Medicare fund to pay for OBAMACARE then short change seniors ultimately leading them to end of life death panels.
And what about social security? how much money has the government “borrowed” from that piggy bank? (Federal Government IOU’s are worthless.)

Ever since the 1930′s (the FDR era), the federal government has been growing like a uncontrollable monster. Today, we have a president that is a communist, with a social justice agenda. Confiscatory policies are part and parcel of his MO ( i.e. GM)

Anyone that disbelieves BOB’s communist sympathies needs to reference his political mentor, Frank Marshall Davis. (REF: Wikipedia or preferably U tube)

This is yet another wake up call that things ARE NOT ALL RIGHT! Buy guns, buy gold, buy food, and get ready.

I agree with an earlier post. If the gov’t decides to enforce FDR’s executive order or even create a new one, owning or possessing gold will be a federal offense, at which time’ if you are found guilty’ you lose your guns too!!!

If you would look up W-4 -( what we were forced to sign to get a job), that would take you to Title 26 (irs code) 31.3402 , then go to : (p)(VOLUNTARY withholding agreement)(1)(A) In general– “If, at the time a specified Federal payment is made to any person, a REQUEST by such person is in effect that such payment be subject to WITHHOLDING under this chapter, then for purposes of this chapter and so much of subtitle F as relates to this chapter, such payment shall be treated as if it were a payment of wages by an employer to an employee.” (emphasis mine)– I don’t understand ?–If the “Income Tax” is “mandatory” then why would you have to AGREE to having it withheld by signing a W-4??

The one thing I did also read was that NOT signing a W-4 you may not be eligible for unemployment or social security benefits or disability

Then I read Pres. Reagan’s Grace commission report — Where it basically states that all the “Income Tax” Americans pay goes to the Federal Reserve to pay the “Interest” and NOTHING goes to the Govt. Programs you think you are paying for!
AND I read Supreme Court Opinions on “INCOME” , which basically states that Income is profit and gain derived from LABOR, CAPITAL, OR BOTH COMBINED–In my mind -If I work for 8 hours and get paid for the 8 hours –I don’t see any profit or gain-do any of you ?? Unless my labor and time is valued at ZERO

DISUNION & LIBERTY! The Compact between the States has been voided by the very government that they, the States, created. The creation of that Compact has become the master, no longer a functional part of a federation of Free, Sovereign and Independent States, it has become illegitimate through its usurpation of powers beyond that agreed upon in the Constitutional Compact.

I read once where the only thing gubbament wanted then was bullion but people were as gullible and stupid then as now so they gave up their coins too. If people do that today then they deserve what they get. The whole idea is make govt and the federal reserve poor. There is no way anyone in their right mind should hand anything over to these crime syndicates. NOTHING! Any property whether gold or silver bullion or coin, stocks, bonds, IRA’s, homes and vehicles (that are free and clear) etc. This govt spent us into oblivion, indebted us for eons to a private banking cartel called the Federal Reserve and now they want the rest of our wealth to continue living their lavish lifestyles—F*** ‘em. “Buy gold; just don’t tell anyone — especially the government”.

Yeah, okay! Who are you kidding? If you buy gold the government will know it! You will be registered as the purchaser and the amount you bought will be indicated. Enforcement of a turnover mandate could not be possible otherwise. I’ll bet they even know about your jewlery. If not, their is always illegal search and seizure. They don’t need no stinkin’ fourth ammendment. This government is really starting to smell a little fowl to me….

We were WARNED IN THE BIBLE. You can read yourself in Solomon (I think). To paraphrase God said that if you want a king like all the other nations around you that he would take the best of everything, your land, your people, your “stuff” and he would tax and tax and tax you (to death).

    You have been warned!

  • Linda

A few months after taking office, Obama indicated that he might make it illegal for Americans to own gold. Whether or not he will follow through, remains to be seen. Should he decide to do so, he most likely will confiscate the gold and NOT compensate the people whom he takes it from.

  • Joe Frisicano

If it is going to require hiding your silver and gold from thieves and government, what good will it do to even have it. The Bible says there will come a day when a bag of gold won’t be able to buy a loaf of bread. Now what? My faith and trust is in Him who always provides, just like He did in providing manna in the wilderness. Praise God!
