The Global Warning On Global Warming

January 31, 2012 by

The Global Warning On Global Warming

Some time ago, I described the pseudo-scientific theory of so-called “global warming” as “the phrenology of the modern age.” In light of the latest avalanche of actual scientific evidence, it would appear I was actually being a bit on the generous side. After all, while practitioners of phrenology might have been as far off the mark as an Al Gore slide show, at least they were trying to help someone else. The only beneficiaries of the global warming hoax are the hoaxsters themselves. While that means only that global warming is no different than virtually every other aspect of liberalism, it also means that every aspect of American society is threatened.

The latest crack in global warming’s crumbling wall appeared last week in the United Kingdom with a quiet acknowledgement by the UK’s Met Office and the University of East Anglia that not only is the Earth not warming, the oven is off and the pilot light is out. Moreover, data collected from more than 30,000 measuring stations and released last week have put the deep freeze on global warming, instead indicating that the temperature trend pointed to by global warmists peaked in 1997.

Additionally, the current solar cycle has reached its maximum output and is, therefore, headed into what scientists call “Cycle 25,” which researchers at NASA and the University of Arizona have declared will be much weaker than solar cycles over the past century. In fact, the latest Met Office research predicts that Cycle 25 and subsequent 11-year solar cycles will likely approach the “Dalton minimum” for solar output, matching the solar slump which lowered Europe’s mean temperatures by 2 degrees centigrade during the 18th and 19th centuries. Some scientists predict solar energy could bottom out even further, matching the “Maunder minimum” — the coolest period of the “Little Ice Age” — which held the planet in its chilly grip from the mid-16th to mid-19th centuries.

According to leading observers from respected institutions, the failure of global warmists to credit the sun for its role in global temperature swings nearly obviates the entire global warming industry. Nicola Scafetta, Ph.D., of Duke University notes:

If temperatures continue to stay flat or start to cool again, the divergence between the models and recorded data will eventually become so great that the whole scientific community will question the current theories.

It’s fair to presume that he’s already omitting global warmists from the “scientific community” given the remote likelihood that they will abandon the scam which has kept them in clover since the early 1970s, when the same climactic phrenologists who roar about global warming now were shrieking about global cooling.

These latest revelations about the myriad flaws and scientific method violations that mark the progression of the global warming theories combine with the well-established fact that global warmists have never employed more than anecdotal evidence that the basis of their fearmongering even exists to produce what ought to be a final curtain for global warming and the entire so-called “climate change” industry.

And yet, I have a theory — based on decades’ worth of firsthand observation — that neither global warming nor the industry its proponents spawned will be headed for the booth next to the tinfoil-hat salesmen at the next Flat Earth Society conference. Despite the altruistic claims of leading global warmists from Gore to the Headlands Institute eggheads, they’re highly unlikely to abandon their cause for the same two reasons nanny-staters have been pressing their jackboots down upon the necks of people across the world since time immemorial:

  1. Money.
  2. Power.

Consider Obama’s continued devotion to so-called “green jobs” boondoggles, despite the Brobdingnagian barrelsful of taxpayer cash that they absorb without producing any quantifiable benefit. Solyndra, LightSquared and Ener1 (which flatlined right after Obama’s State of the Union address last week) have combined to cost the taxpayers billions of dollars in unrecoverable funds. All of them are fiscal disasters, yet Obama swore during the same address to continue to shovel our money into their gaping maws. In some cases, the output of these “green” ventures is dangerous: What’s the total amount of greenhouse outgassing produced by a burning Chevy Volt?

Gore sells books and video copies of his Oscar-winning slide show. He also lives like a pharaoh. Outside the pile of money left behind by his tobacco-baron father, Gore’s lavish lifestyle is funded almost entirely by his exploitation of global warming fear. And he’s hardly alone. In “No Need to Panic About Global Warming,” an opinion piece that appeared in The Wall Street Journal last week, 16 scientists noted:

Alarmism over climate is of great benefit to many, providing government funding for academic research and a reason for government bureaucracies to grow. Alarmism also offers an excuse for governments to raise taxes, taxpayer-funded subsidies for businesses that understand how to work the political system, and a lure for big donations to charitable foundations promising to save the planet.

The column also noted the striking similarities between the global warmists’ method of enforcing their dogma with retribution and even banishment and the intellectual dark ages of the Soviet Union, in which anyone who opposed Trofim Lysenko’s ludicrously medieval scientific theories was stripped of prestige, imprisoned and even killed.

To be fair, the world could probably benefit from a reduction in the population of arrogant pseudo-intellectual academics. And it almost goes without saying that anything that cuts the odds that Gore might show up in your town (flying a private jet, of course) to make you and your neighbors sit through one of his monotonous lectures on bumper-sticker science is — well — good. But global warmists have infiltrated virtually every aspect of public life. They are turning once-respectable universities into black holes of meaningful thought. They drain billions of dollars from the Treasury in pure cash and then drain millions of dollars more in meaningless regulations that have no effect on the jungles, but crush industrial output. They create idiotic bureaucratic boondoggles (like the Kyoto Protocol) that ripple through the global economic strata, hiking prices and ruining lives.

The food we eat, the fuel we need and the items we require (incandescent light bulbs, anyone?) are all more expensive, more scarce and more needlessly regulated because liberals like Obama recognize the value of fear over reason and the value of lockstep-marching minions who act without question.

Scientists ought to be consumed with the search for facts. As last week’s news — along with decades of actual data — proves, one fact is clear: Global warming hasn’t reduced our quality of life; global warmists have.

Al Gore saying to his handlers: But gee guys, global warming is a fabricated untruth!

His handlers reply: Ya, but when HAARP comes online we’ll make it true!

    • TIME

      Michael,

Good post, you know Michael its really quite sad that most folks don’t have a clue about HAARP nor that it exist or thats its been in use for years.
As well now the fine tuning is an art form with the use of HAARP.

Any of you recall the Star Wars defence plan from the 1980′s, well HAARP is just one part of it. Just as Chem Trails have been in use from 1993 and are still being used to this very day.
The ” idea ” behind the use of Chem Trails was to infuse the air with small metal particals to aid with the microwaves needed to defuse any incoming what evers.

But whats happened is that all the Micro and Nano sized Aluminum being let loose in the air is causing cancer, killing trees and marsh grass’s small animals etc.. Oh and did I note Killing HUMANS.
And yet this crazy crap continues to this very day, and just why is that again?

** For all of you just google: Solarham.com – add it to your favorites list look at it daily hell you will know when your getting higher levels of EMP, like when your tube has brain farts, or your cell phone go bonkers for what seems like no valid reason at all.
Plus with All that you will know what the weather will be like with out even looking at the weather channel, now how great is that?

TO everyone: The first step in learning the TRUTH is to empty your cup of all the Rhetoric your infused with daily.
Stop with your opinions, why – they are all flawed if you use the main stream media for gaining insight.

In plain words your clueless as you have gotten nothing in the way of the TRUTH from them.
So – You can either wake up or your part of the problem, your choice. But if you so choose to keep your heads in the sand, then don’t complain as you are the problem.

      • Aurelio

You like kool aid, good for you. But lies need to be defended; truth stand by itself. Al Gore is a fraud, he knows he’s a fraud, but he enjoys it. Pitiful family, where some of its members were out right southern racists, now their latest output wants to save us of a global warming that has netted him millions. You have to be completely stupid to think that man has the power to override earth natural laws.

        • CJ

While Al sits back, helping run Apple Computer Co. (bet you didn’t know he’s a top paid exec!), and plays the idiots who think nature doesn’t change ‘naturaly’ (funny they both have the same root word). He’s playing both sides, and sits in the middle, raking it in.

        • Tom W.

          Give ‘em HELL Ben!!!

        • TIME

          Aurelio,

Perhaps you need to chill your rockets – then reread what I posted.
As your cool aid rant is about as mindless as eating five day old rotten road apple’s.
But if you so wish to be mindless thats your gig. Please do note I did say if you don’t want to work to fix the problem YOU are the problem.

Good luck in what ever it is your up to.

          • Tom W.

It’s Kool-Aid Time! And there is no such thing as luck!!! There is absolutely no tellin’ what we’re exposed to everyday! Why is Alzheimer’s such a problem for our seniors anymore?! Man don’t care that there are some things that he’d be better off just leaving alone. We’re destroying this planet trying to get somewhere we don’t even know exists! God gave us everything we need, but it just isn’t big enough, fast enough, warm enough, cool enough, we’re not satisfied with anything!!! In a way, we are the cancer of this planet!

          • Mike in MI

            Tom W. -
They know how to cure Alzheimer’s and cause the plaques and coils to melt away – simply by proper nutrition. Our wonderful, “best medical system in the whole world” just doesn’t want to. No money in cures. They’ll continue to rip and tear at you and anybody they can ’til people decide to take responsibility for themselves and quit thinking traditional care medical doctors have anwers that bring cures. THEY DON’T. How can they when almost to a man the pharmaceuticals industry has purchased (lock, stock and barrel) the chairmanships and learning programs at the medical colleges. The M.D.s are only the retailers for the pharmacuticals, chemicals and medical implement industries.
If you let yourself get stupid and sick They make sure things get started that somewhere down the line what they do today will require that you come back later.

          • Tom W.

Hey Mike in MI, I know that they are heartless!!! I’ve been watching them in action for years. If you’ve got insurance, thet’ll milk it for all that it’s worth! If you have no way to pay, they kick you to the curb and let ya die!!! This isn’t a health care system, this is social genicide!

        • Angel Wannabe

Aureilo or what ever the h*ll your name is, and YOU can’t be Naieve enough to think the US doen’t have that kind of tech, WAKE UP SLEEPING BEAUTY!

        • Don

Aurello, worst than that, look at all the fools that believed him, just as they do ODUMBO !!!

        • Mary

We are living in a culture of corruption in the US government. The american people by their state of denial have suffered the consequences of this endemic criminality. Al and all the rest are world-class hypocrites. Remember what Thomas Jefferson said: The most ruthless dishonest and dangerous segment in our government is the Unacountable judiciary. The people continue obssed with Saturday’s game and their own little worlds. That’s the American Way.

        • Ranger 1

Speaking as a scientist who has not only taught science at the HS and University levels, and has done research on cosmic radiation at a National Lab, Aurelio IS correct about there being natural cycles. However, the effect of human release of CO2 into the atmosphere is causing changes several orders of magnitude greater than corresponding “natural” changes and is causing a warming trend which will inevitably affect the temp of the world’s ocean resulting in dramatic shifts in weather patterns and global climate ( ALL of which is a direct result of the temp of ocean currents, which will cause some of the 27% of the land area of this globe – 73% of which is covered by water – to become warmer and some to become much colder) over a greatly compressed time frame. At present, those shifts predicated by computer modeling are occurring much faster than even the “worst case scenarios” predicted!. Let me see if I can explain what’s going on, in the simplest of terms, that even a radio talk show host like Ben Crystal, or maybe a completely ignorant fellow like Rush Limbaugh, could comprehend.
To begin, the increase in release of fossil fuel residue, specifically CO2, is unarguable. Even the most troglodyte global warming denier will agree to that! Now, when sunlight energy strikes the earth, most of it is converted to IR radiation (think, HEAT). Note: Remember the First Law of thermodynamics – energy can neither be created or destroyed, but only transformed? So, as this heat energy rises, it strikes these additional CO2 molecules in the atmosphere, which, because of their tight, covalent bonds, vibrate at the exact same resonant frequency as the heat energy. Now with a much higher percentage of the atmosphere “resonating” this heat energy (think of a cellist bowing his or her instrument, causing the large wooden chamber of the instrument to “resonate” the same frequency as the string being bowed) As the CO2 sends heat out in all directions, about 50% of it is directed upward, toward space; but the other 50% is directed back downward, to the surface of the earth, where it will have a dramatic effect on the ambient temp of those water currents, that cause all that climate change. Bottom line, we are already in deep trouble folks, and continuing to deny the facts, just because they don’t fit in to your preformed biases, is not helping. We need to seriously reduce our production of CO2, ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • http://www.specificsystems.com LTCB

God clearly states He will put a stop to all the foolishness of man because, if He doesn’t, all life on the planet will be destroyed. Now, that is not an endorsement that there is warming. It is just a statement that WE are NOT in charge of the results of this planet. You can try to mitigate damage but, bottom line, we’re not in charge and this place will do what it will do and there’s little or nothing you’re going to do to “fix” it. The next “messaiah” will appear to be a great leader out of Europe. But, before that’s ushered in, there will be another war in the Middle East over Israel and Jerusalem. The Jews will win that one.

      • Michael

You, dude, are an idiot. It’s people like you who live in the confines of your little scientific world and sound like Chicken Little. You think just because the earth is cycling as it does, people had something to do with it. And it’s all gloom and doom. Got news for you pal, we, who choose to live life, take things as they come and deal with whatever happens when it gets here, especially when it’s an effect from nature itself. I’ve always wondered what kind of life negative people like you have had. Obviously, it wasn’t all that good. Try loosening up on your drawers, they seem drawn up too tight.

Geez, I just had an epiphany. I bet you’re getting paid well by someone such as Al Gore himself to create fear so you can make more money off the suckers who believe your crap. In that case, you should seek employment more honorable than being a fearmonger.

        • Mike in MI

And you, MICHAEL, should seek some form of employment as a telepromter tech and writer for the propagandist-in-chief who casts his diatribes far and wide – like you and John below – with no (or little) indication about to whom the meaningless invective is directed. Sorry, DUDE, but not only does it show a paucity of intellect but also basic manners and, further, a great deal of laziness. (Which is probably why you need a new job.)
It isn’t too much to ask that you put a name on your posts to indicate to the normal people on here what and to whom you are talking.
          Thank you.

          • DaveH

If he doesn’t specifically cite a name in the comment, then it is assumed that he was responding to the person whose reply button was picked.

The tin foil sales men must make a bundle selling you hats.

        • FreedomFighter

John shut the f*&^ up with your insults.

The man is dead on with HAARP, the many patents explain the capabilities of the device, READ THEM, research the device, then come back and tell the man you were a fool, idiot know nothing and he was pretty much dead on.

          Laus Deo
          Semper Fi

          • John

HAARP is an enigma for people like you that are afraid of all and anything they do not understand…and a big money maker for people that foster the paranoia of government conspiracies. I have a masters degree in electrical engineering and have been a RF engineer all my life… and you are trying to tell me anything about HAARP? I have researched HAARP and its principles when it was still a lone transmitter building with a small antenna array long before any of the loons thought about it. I was involved in some of the shortwave transmission tests… The energy output of HAARP is miniscule in relationship to the energy input into the atmosphere caused by the sun… You should have been more concerned by the phased array Russian over the horizon radars that had similar and larger pulse power then HAARP. But hey, if you want to live your life in fear and ignorance and stick you head into the sand because you are unwilling to get educated make my day. There are many patents out there and a lot especially the older ones are pure nonsense….just because they exist does not mean that HAARP is using any of them….to believe they are is like believing that a tin foil hat will prevent “”mind control”" or that cell towers are emitting mind control signals….and yes there is actually a patent out there saying mind control can be facilitated through the use of radio towers…is it real? Of course not, just because someone patented an idea does not mean it is feasible to do it.

          • Michael J.

            John,
Sorry, your pedigree, if legitimate does not sway my opinion of Nick Begich whose work outlining the actual meaning and focus of H.A.A.R.P. portrays the advancements of Tesla technologies. Mr. Tesla, whose concept Haarp is derived from a century ago has managed to maintain credibility for the creation of ALTERNATING CURRENT!!!!

You with your faux degree would have an easier time convincing me that you had successfully jump-started a 747 with a defribulator, CLEAR?

          • TIME

            John,

            Perhaps this quote is quite well in order for your post;
“Don’t piss on my leg and tell me its raining.”

Without question your post reaks of total as well utter ignorance so perhaps that tin foil cap you say others need will soon be in order for you, BTW – whats your hat size again?

You have a nice day and enjoy your own rain. :-)

          • DaveH

I may be mistaken, but I think we are on the same side — Less Government. Let’s not eat our own, guys.

TIME, Hey TIME, rumor has it, that the freak Halloween storm we had here in the North East was Haarp related.
Now the Good Lord says in his book, that as his people, what was intended for our harm, will inturn be used for our good?__My inlaws lost 9 trees, we lost two and a lot of branches, FIREWOOD! :)

        • Mike in MI

          Hey Angel -
If what Ben has written is any harbinger of what’s to come you better go get all the firewood you can. Since Oblama-lama-ding-dong won’t allow us to dig for our own oil but instead goes into business with Warren Buffet on an oil transport company the people who use oil or gas for heating are likely to shake the nation to its base with their shivering.
God bless and have a GREAT, (unglobally warmed) CO2 production day.

TIME, “Just as Chem Trails have been in use from 1993″

Ummm…NO! I’ve been seeing chem trails since I was a toddler back in the late 50′s.

Where have you been and who told you chem trails have been in use since since 1993? They lied to you!

        • r.p.

There is a difference between Chemtrails and Jet trails. You have been lied to. Take a look at the 9th. picture in this article.

          Moonbeam,

WOW, I have a Big Fat Cat named Moonbeam.

          Perhap you should learn the differance between a “Chem Trai” and {CONTRAILS / aka – Ice trails.}

I hope that aids you in understanding this issue better.
Now have a nice day, please understand I will not argue with you, I will give you the keys you do as you please stay sleeping or open Pandora’s Box.
          Your choice.

For those to lazy to check it out! Contrails consist of frozen water. Chem trails consist of frozen chemicals! Water is a chemical! Need I go further?

          • moonbeam

Yep and they’ve been spraying us for years.

      • MNIce

You fear HAARP because you do not understand it. HAARP is a joint venture between NASA and the University of Alaska, and the acronym stands for “High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program”. There is just one active component: a large high frequency radio transmitter used to make small artificial auroras in the ionosphere (“Northern Lights”) when the sun is not making natural auroras. This transmitter is not much different from an ordinary short-wave radio transmitter, except for its highly focused antenna. Satellite, sub-orbital rocket-launched and ground-based instruments are used to study the auroras. The Air Force is interested because auroras affect radio transmission, including defense radar systems.

The only aluminum particles involved, if there are any, are from solid fuel rocket engine exhaust – that is the most practical way to get instruments into an active aurora. The amount is relatively small, and washes out of the atmosphere within days (the aluminum oxide and aluminum sulfate form clay in the soil).

What you have written is unsubstantiated rumor based on a mythic weather-control conspiracy story promulgated by the “National Spotlight” tabloid back in the 1970′s. The notion that mankind can affect the weather to the extent claimed by the global warming alarmists is pseudoscientific at best; this tale is even less believable.

The primary culprit in nano-particle related illnesses is soot from everyday sources such as diesel exhaust, which is almost exclusively carbon-based, not aluminum. If anything, scattering aluminum in the atmosphere would make radio-based (e. g., microwave) missile defense weapons less effective. Have you never heard of “chaff”, an early radar jamming method? It used thousands of aluminum tinsel strips to scatter the radar beam and hide aircraft from it.

Just because governments may do evil or careless things does not mean they can do black magic. These far-out tales of HAARP weather control are just that – black magic fantasies impossible to carry out with presently existing science. The improvement in weather prediction is due to better models of atmospheric behavior, calculated using more powerful computers, not the ability to control the weather.

Many exotic weapons systems have been proposed for missile defense, but the most practical has turned out to be the oldest and simplest – use a really fast rocket to throw a rock at the incoming projectile.

A good paranoid story is hard to let go, but I would hope you would listen to some facts from a long-time student of science instead of dismissing this rebuttal as propaganda from the regime. When you bandy about wild stories like this, you only discredit yourself, and distract people from the real threats, such as good old-fashioned strong-arm administrative state tyranny and deceit of the sort Ben Crystal described in his article.

Did anybody get to see Glenn Beck’s “Crime Inc.” expose’?!!
How he tied all these green energy companies to that small bank in Chicago, the president of whom just happened to be Hillary’s college room-mate?!! And how Al and the rest of the global warming theorists were all tied together by way of this small bank which also just happened to be the only small bank in the country to receive any of the stimulus funds!!!

TW, Yepper, he was spot on!

Are you insinuating things about MY President?

I’ve been calling him the Ghetto Conman in the Offal Orifice for a while now. Nice to know my prediction was accurate. But, I wish he hadn’t proven me true…especially, as Ben said, the funds are now irretreivable. Pretty soon we’ll all have to pay protection money to Don Barack “Godfather” The Big Zero ‘Bama just to breathe his oxygen…and be thankful for it.

        • Tom W.

Hey M’n'M, I would never insinuate anything about our beloved POTUS!!! I’ll just give ya the facts! If blacks, and I’m not saying all, would ever see him for the NWO elitest that he is, they’d probably lynch his egotesticle a$$!!! I’d like to hear him and FL Rep. Allen West debate!!! That’d be worth the price of admission! When the “Ghetto Conman” was a community organizer in Chi-town, he was personal council to one of the Windy City’s biggest slum lords!
Arab gangster Tony Rezko, a man who made his fortune oppressing poor minorities!!!

      • meteorlady

Shore Bank was initially a failing bank that gave loans to loan income minorities. Even though they were not too big to fail, they were bailed out by us hardworking taxpayers.

Meanwhile, Al Gore, Clintons, and some say Obamas through trust, among others, started the Chicago Climate Exchange. They invested a lot of money and they actually believed that we would all fall for the global warming hoax. Goldman-Sachs was to run the trading floor.

It was estimated that if all this happened each investor would make in excess of $8 BILLION PER YEAR of trading carbon credits. All this while Europe was finding that this was a bad idea and most countries were shutting down trading floor that dealt with carbon Credits.

I have not read a lot lately so don’t know if all this is still in operation, but I bet us taxpaying citizen have lost money on Shore Bank.

Bottom line, politically motivated “Junk Science”, always has been, always will be.

I can remember back in the 70′s when these same “Scientist” declared we would be entering a new “Ice Age” by the turn of the century. What happened? You mean those superior scientific minds who believe we “Evolved” from monkeys were wrong??? Who would have thunk it! GOD has his ways in revealing the foolishness of power hungry men or evolutionary Apes, in this case.

No need my friends to wonder why our math and science skills in this country have tanked out in the past 4-5 decades. You simply cannot FOOL a nation of people who have developed REAL math and science skills from REAL experts, not politically motivated monkeys paid by the federal government to propagate their “Global Warming” agenda.

Bottom line, a simple 8th grade math equation can debunk the entire concept of “Global Warming”. By the way, I think AG and Gang have been selling this lie to those more so in line with the IQ of a monkey. Go figure!

Time to get REAL about fact finding skills again or suffer the consequences of not doing so as we continue to be left behind in the field of both math and science.

Evolutionists don’t believe, and Darwin never stated, that humans evolved from monkeys.

      • Mike in MI

        Brian -
Probably because Darwin was afraid it could also be inferred that monkeys are on a step one up from evolutionists…
And why not? After all random changes ARE random changes. And…in all good conscience I know of no reason they could use to prove things couldn’t or wouldn’t mutate in that direction. Further, they use the fact of all those shared genes to show how really close we are to a return to the jungle.
Hell, just look at how it goes in Washington, D.C.! Talk about planet of the apes! Good God deliver us!

        • APN

          My point exactly!

Remember ole AG stated he is an “Alpha Male”. Given that, maybe he can collect himself a few female gorillas and move back to the jungle.

          Works for me!

        “The Monkey’s Disgrace”

Three monkeys sat in a coconut tree,
Dicuussing things that are said to be.
        Said one to the other, “Now listen, you two;
There’s a certain rumor that can’t be true.

That man decended from our noble race,
This very idea is a big disgrace.
No monkey ever deserted his wife,
Starved her babies and ruined her life.

“And you’ve never known a mother monk,
To leave her babies with others to bunk,
Or pass them on from one to another,
Till they scarcely know who is their mother.

“And another thing you will never see:
A monk build a fence ’round a coconut tree,
And let the coconuts go to waste,
Forbidding the other monks to taste.

“Why, if I put a fence around a tree,
Starvation would force you to steal from me.
        Here’s another thing a monk won’t do:
Go out at night and get a stew.

“Or use a club, a gun, or knife
        To take another monkey’s life.
We’re fully convinced without any fuss,
Man has descended, but not from us.” – Nettie Bates Thomas

Did you know that when Darwin and his dad first went to Australia, they brought back an aborigines to England claiming that they had found the “Missing Link”. But when other scientists observed him, they came to the conclusion that he was simply a primative man. Well the aborigines contracted influenza and died. After his burial, Darwin’s dad went and dug him up and had him stuffed, and took the stuffed body with him on his lecturing tour!!!

This is the sick twisted mentallity that we are dealing with with these elitists!

    • http://patriotupdate Joy

ONE QUESTION for those who think we evolved from apes: If we evolved from apes, how come the apes are no longer evolving into humans??? HMMMMMM? Can’t answer that one, now, can you??? Maybe they realized that they’d made a mistake evolving into such stupid creatures as so many seem to be??? So they stopped their evolution to try to save the planet from us???? I’d like to hear just one evolver answer these questions intelligently ! ! !

      • Karolyn

Joy – “Maybe they realized that they’d made a mistake evolving into such stupid creatures as so many seem to be??? So they stopped their evolution to try to save the planet from us????”

        I like that answer!

      • DaveH

Those are processes, Joy, that occurred over a couple of billion of years. Mankind’s recorded time on this earth is just a very small fraction of that.
Apes evolving into Men is probably much less likely than Men evolving into Apes as we seem currently to be doing.
At any rate, much of the Controversy over Creationism vs. Evolution could be mitigated simply by giving parents Educational Choice, so they could choose freely what subjects their kids learn.

        • mike1127

With respect, I must disagree with you. No child should be taught that creationism is real. Every religion out there has their own version of how life started. Are they all to be treated as equally valid? That’s just silly.

I believe you should at least be old enough to drive a car before you are allowed to attend any kind of church. That would prevent the brainwashing of children into believing Bronze Age fairy tales are true.

Most christians have been raised in a church atmosphere. Even the ones that finally break away from their parents’ religion harbor some small feelings of being bad over it. Forcing a child into a religion is just shy of mental child abuse.

          • APN

How people decide to raise their children is none of your concern. What you suggest seems to be in direct conflict with itself. Just because you do not believe in GOD, as an individual, does not prove or disprove anything. It certainly does not disprove the existence of GOD no more so that YOUR worship of man made science can prove or disprove the existence of “Global Warming”.

          • Mike in MI

            Mikey, wan one 27 -
What you say is just mere assumption – the absolute worst kind of cow dung.
My Dad prided himself on the level of science he upheld in his life. My mom took us to church a bit when we were little. But I parted company with the demoninations at the age of 12 because the head pulpit-pounder of the place wouldn’t answer my questions…couldn’t, because he had to answer according to the doctrinal position of that demonination. So, I decided to build my life on science’s doctrines and edicts…silly boy.
It took the spritual maelstrom of a warzone in 1967 where it became obvious to me that there is a whole world of things that go on around us in the realm just outside the reach of our senses. That realm of life is aware of you but not you of it – which is why people need God’s help in order to keep from being ripped by it. They can run your life without you knowing it – but they seldom bother you as long as you pose no threat to them.
So you continue to steer clear of the Word of God, and why Jesus Christ was raisd from the dead for you. That way they’ll never bother you…much…because his authority is the only thing in the world with the potential to defeat their power over you and their desires regarding you. It could work for you, too. But you can only believe for yourself…once you learn what it could mean if you’re man enough to step up and take hold of the real challenge of life.
            Your choice.

          • DaveH

Are you okay, Mike, with the public schools teaching the Religion of Progressivism?
Whether there exists a God or not, at least the Religious people are teaching their children some sort of morality. Not so for the Progressives, unless one thinks that taking property from others and controlling their personal choices is moral behavior.

          • Mike in MI

            Dave H -
            Which “Mike” are you addressing?

          • DaveH

            Mike1127.

“Whether there exists a God or not, at least the Religious people are teaching their children some sort of morality. Not so for the Progressives, unless one thinks that taking property from others and controlling their personal choices is moral behavior.”

David, such sweeping statement as this, make you appear less a mindful person and more a garden variety right-wing zealot.

What is really damaging is that it’s an unnecessary statement that serves no meaningfulness purpose other then is polarize, offends and is simply not true.

          • APN

Well Deer-in-headlights, I don’t always agree with DaveH, 95% or so, but his comment on progressivism is dead on without a doubt.

Every progressive I have ever met or listened to have one primary thing in common: Marxism

They seem to be obsessed with what other people do or don’t do. They assert themselves as a Higher Intellect when most couldn’t find their butts with both hands. They insist on managing other peoples affairs but couldn’t manage a two kid kindergarten. Washington DC is proof of that fact. They have no regard for other peoples private property and they assert that we all should be giving to the poor but do not do so themselves.

This mindset has no problem with taking from others by force of Government and limiting or controlling others personal liberties.

They hate GOD, our Founding Fathers, our constitution and every fiber of the American Dream. Disgusting little cowards that are nosy and self-absorbed in their own “Euphoric” mindset.

Bottom line, the day will come that we FREE THINKING Americans will be required to deal with this Anti-American crowd.

          • meteorlady

DEER if you want to see the results of progressive teaching to to Yahoo and see all the insulting children there. They use every name in the book to classify religious people. All I know is that my community is mostly Christian and it’s a community where we don’t usually have to lock or doors, the neighbors are there wen someone needs help, and we volunteer without any salary and expecting anything in return. We each take responsibility for our lives. Liberals on the other hand believe that I am here to work for their moral causes, even though they are not moral nor are they right.

I would take children brought up on religion anytime over those that don’t and have no respect for their community.

      • Michael J.

        Joy,
Selfishness I guess, the monkeys stopped evolving into humans just to save their own tail?

      • mike1127

See, people like you are the problem. Not one scientist has ever claimed humans evolved from apes. Evolution states that we have a common ancestor. There is a huge difference.

Too many religious zealots do not even learn the facts regarding the subject they are denigrating. Is it really easier for you to believe that a magic man in the sky made us from dirt than it is for you to accept evolution?

Well, I hate to bust your little bubble, but evolution has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. Most of the “facts” in the bible have been proven wrong. Christianity is even more of a fraud than this global warming junk.

Take your nose out of your bible, and look at some pictures from the Hubble telescope. I bet you believe that “god” made this entire universe just for humans to play with.

Belief in something does not make it real.

        • cawmun cents

Regarding the Hubble images, mike 1127,should we look at the regular versions,or the colorized versions you see in the magazines and on the internet?
You get what you make out of it,just like the Bible.
If you think that the regular versions that dont have fantastic colorization making them look so grand and fantastic are better, then you post some of those. If you like the ones that are agrandized by the need to make colorized fake images, like airbrushed women in magazines, then post those. That is in effect what you see right?
The colorized version of scientifiic current events?
That way you can entice others to look at the magazines and the photographs that show how life should be?
But when you look at the actual unretouched images it looks like you took a black and white photo, even when done in color?
Funny how making something look more palatable makes the difference in the society you come from.
Style with no substance must get boring after a couple of decades of imagery.Yet that is what you intend to vote for every time.Look at the pretty picture, not the unretouched actual image. This belies the intent of lies of omission.Leave out the truth, and put forth a spectacular fake picture of what you want the truth to look like.
Just make sure you edit out the freckles, birthmarks, wrinkles, and stretchmarks. Not High Definition, but airbrushed refinery, just liek the goggles you wear daily.Rose colored glasses does not a picture make.

mike1127 says: belief in something does not make it real.

I think you just stuck your foot in your mouth. The existence of evolution is real, created by GOD, not my a freak act of mother nature, whoever the heck that is? Show me “Mother Nature” Mike. I want to see her and meet her. You don’t believe in GOD because you cannot see him or physically touch him but you do believe in the “facts” of man made science? Just because your man made science has been politically engineered for a predetermined outcome does not make it factual or REAL. i.e.; “Global Warming”

One example of many: In the 70′s we were told by the gods of your scientific existence that the world would go back into a new ice age by the turn of the century. What happened Mike?? Do you mean to tell me that your man made science is not factual or real?

Why is it Mike that the science of yesterday continues to be proved in error??

          Something for you to ponder.

          • Tom W.

The “BIG BANG” theory, GOD spoke it and “BANG” it happened!!!

        • Mike in MI

More assumptions, MikeyWanOne, shame on you.
It has not been “proven”. Don’t you know it is impossible to prove a lie? I guess you think you have some sort of a great IQ and intellectual ability.
OK, think so? If you have one ounce of guts get this book and read it until you understand it. If you don’t you’re just a biased, unintelligent, afraid of a challenge to your personal prejudice, taperecording of something you heard somewhere.
          The book:
          SIGNATURE IN THE CELL
DNA and the Evidence for Intelligent Design
By Stephen C. Meyer, PhD; 2009, Harper Collins Publ.

God left His fingerprint in a place and in a way that no evolutionist can dispute. They will avoid it. They WON’T deal with it.

          • APN

I would suggest another, “Mere Christianity” by C.S. Lewis

          • mike1127

To All of the Offended christians: Look at the name-calling by you so-called christians. As soon as someone disputes the existence of a magic man in the sky that watches everything you do, you start name-calling.

There is no reasoning with people that take the bible as literal truth and fact. Even though the Jesus story has been around for thousands of years before Jesus was even born, his was the actual true story. You guys truly believe “god” made this whole universe just for us to play with. Amazing.

Finding religion in a fox-hole is far from original. I don’t need to see the colorized images from Hubble, just as I don’t look at airbrushed pictures of women. And in no way, shape, or form is any religion required to teach your children morality. If you have to be told from the bible that murder and theft is a bad idea, then there is something wrong with you to begin with.

The religious zealots in this country are getting more and more intolerant by the day. How long until you all will go back to stoning people to death for adultery or homosexuality? Why not sell a daughter if you’re short on cash? The bible says you can. I love the way you all pick and choose from christianity, as if it’s some sort of buffet.

I will stand with Science over Religion any day. There is something wrong with a system whose main goal is to make you take everything on faith while giving them money. There are churches out there now that run credit checks on their prospective members. Religion is a business. Nothing more, nothing less, and it should be taxed as such.

Faith is a good name, other than that it’s useless. I will only side with christianity against islam, for now. The way a lot of christians are heading, becoming more intolerant, they may as well call themselves the christian taliban.

It’s too bad there is a separation of Church and State written into our laws. It’s also too bad that christians won’t stop trying to legislate morality. Maybe our country wouldn’t be in such a mess if our politicians didn’t have to pander to the religious crowd. We have people in office that are waiting for Armageddon, and are stirring the pot in the Middle East to help it along. Politicians waiting on the rapture should have their head examined. Religion should be kept to yourself. It definitely has no place in politics or schools. Schools should stick to facts that can be proven.

A scientist will gladly admit he is wrong when the data show that to be the case. When is the last time you ever heard a religious person admit being wrong?

          • APN

            …and your point is?

You seem to be a very confused and angry person. Science and religion are two separate topics. Mutually exclusive my friend. i.e. apples and oranges

Since you do not believe in GOD and the afterlife, why do you spend so much time defending science and this planet? You my friend are nothing more than a blip on the EVO scale. Your existence on this planet equates to 0.000000016% time slice as it relates to the “reported” scientific age of the planet. So once again, why are you so consumed with defeating GOD in the name of science? Why would you even care about defeating GOD?

When you are in the belly of a WORM, after death, do you actually think you will have any scientific consequence to this 4.5 billion year old planet? Will you care that those of us who you left behind will write your name down in some type of “History” book? Will you, in the belly of a worm, know it?

Once again, why do people like you and Al Gore have so much concern over this planet since you are nothing more than an evolutionary BLIP?

            Just curious?

          • Tom W.

M’n'M, APN what are we going to do with this 1127 dude?!! He’s headed strait for a sinners hell! He sure proves that there is such a thing as artificial intellegence! I’ll concede that one. He says that evolution is a proven fact! Where’s the proof!!! Has the remains of any creature that was in the process of evolving ever been discovered?
I know that I’m one of those brainwashed individuals, but I just don’t see the proof that he swears exists! Am I blind!!! APN, I really enjoyed your post! Keep your eyes on the skies guys, Jesus Is coming! He loves y’all and so do I!!!

The earth isn’t my mother, but the ONE who created it is my FATHER!!!

          • APN

That’s a very good question Tom. I never understood the concept of self-elimination by evolutionary “Science”. Seems to be self defeating with ZERO purpose. In fact, life itself would seem to be meaningless through a self-eliminating “Science”.

Once again, to all those who assert there is no GOD, if so, then why do you concern yourselves with the concept of Global Warming through a very slow and painful “Scientific” evolutionary process?

This is a one time shot for you, so eat, drink and be merry and stop worrying about your 0.000000016% time slice of life.

          • Tom W.

That’s why His Word says that they are without excuse!!!

            Romans 1:18-25 (KJV)
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”

        • MNIce

Dude, you’re blowing blue smoke out your exhaust. There’s a whole line of alleged fossil ancestors of mankind named pithecanthropus. The word means “ape-man”. Now if the people who named these (anatomically obvious apes) did not believe mankind was descended from apes, why did they use this appellation?

          • APN

            great post.

        • meteorlady

First I don’t regularly attend any church. but I have never heard that evolution was proven beyond a doubt so if you have a link to the missing link, please let me know and I will be glad to look. I also agree that there is no concrete evidence that God exists either, but I respect the people that believe and are comforted by their beliefs.

Second, why would you personally care what anyone believes. I don’t – it’s their life and they are free. I am certainly not egotistical enough to laugh at or put down anyone’s belief system, nor would I try and talk them out of it.

  • James Lyons

Al Gore is an idiot and belongs in the nut house!!

    • Buddy

Remember, though, that nut (Gore) came pretty close to being USA president.

So, we got the other guy who blew a hole in the USA treasury on middle east adventures.

Choices for leadership in 2000 were from bad to worse. The same situation was in the 2008 election. Are we ever going to get a real choice or is corruption so entrenched that such is remote? One hope is that the USA political union is headed for break-up, big time.

      • meteorlady

GWB did not blow a hole in the Treasury. He actually had the deficit coming down until 2007 when the Democrats gained control. I blame Bush for letting them spend spend spend and signing the first budget he got from them. After that he belatedly got tough and would not sign another budget for 2008 so the Dems just passed resolution after resolution to keep the government going and they are still doing the same crap.

As for surplus – Clinton did not leave a surplus. Go to the US Treasury website and read the FACTS. Clinton lied because he counted income from the Social Security Trust Fund to make it appear there was a surplus when in fact there was a $17.9 BILLION DEFICIT the day Bush took office. After Bush’s first full year in office (under a Clinton signed budget) the deficit went to $133.4 BILLION.

        • Jim

Wow, you sure have your tales mixed up. First of all I read my Bible every day. I hardly ever miss a Sunday from Church. But the CBO says there was over a $200,000 surplus when Clinton left office. Bush started two wars and didn’t pay for either one. He gave the rich two huge tax cuts and didn’t pay for either one. Then the huge sell out to the drug companies. You guessed it, not paid for. It doesn’t seem to register with you people that we are now paying off the huge debts that Reagan and the two Bushes left us with. And when you try to get out of a deep hole yes, it gets tough. But a lot of economists say Obama likely saved us from another depression. But these Republicans today simply can’t tell the truth. I vote for the country, regardless of the party. But I can’t find an honest Rep. to vote for. Tax the working people and the poor and give the rich a tax break. It’s no secret, they admit it.Are you a millionaire????Then vote for someone who is going to have a super rich class and a super poor class.

          • MNIce

Go back and look at the tax revenues before and after the tax cuts. Every time the government has cut taxes since WWII, up until the current regime, Federal revenue has increased significantly because taxable income went up much more as a result. The big problem is unwillingness to limit spending to only those items authorized in the Constitution (hint: “income security” is not one of those items!).

          • meteorlady

The US Treasury says otherwise as do other published document. You need to find it and read it before putting me down. Here’s just one:

Clinton ran deficits throught all 8 years of his term, and one can go to the US Treasury Department and looking through the history of the total outstanding debt through Clintons term.

Every year Clinton was in office, the total national debt continued to climb.

How Clinton managed to claim a surplus was that while the general operating budgets ran deficits but Clinton borrowed from numerous off budget funds to make the on budget fund a surplus.

For example, in 2000, Clinton claimed a $230B surplus, but Clinton borrowed
            $152.3B from Social Security
$30.9B from Civil Service Retirement Fund
$18.5B from Federal Supplementary Medical insurance Trust Fund
$15.0B from Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund
$9.0B from the Federal Unemployment Trust Fund
            $8.2B from Military Retirement Fund
            $3.8B from Transportation Trust Funds
$1.8B from Employee Life Insurance & Retirement fund
            $7.0B from others

Total borrowed from off budget funds $246.5B, meaning that his $230B surplus is actually a $16.5B deficit.
            ($246.5B borrowed – $230B claimed surplus = $16.5B actual deficit).

If there is ever a true surplus, then the national debt will go down.
the national debt did not go down one year during the Clinton administration.

I’ll be happy to include more if you’d like…..

          • meteorlady

The taxes for the Rich actually went up when Bush gave the tax cuts. He eliminated some loopholes to get his cut passed. Most agree that the tax cuts were mainly for the middle and low income.

            Married = tax cut
Low income – lower tax bracket of 10% instead of 15%
Special needs children – tax deduction for special education
EGTRRA doubled from $500 to $1,000 per child.
The maximum tax rate on long-term capital gains and qualified dividends were also reduced to 15%, with lower income filers facing a 0% tax rate.

there’s more, but you get the idea? Where’s the rich in all this? They got a 3% less tax rate…..

Ignorant Ben Crystal continues to play the “money to be made off of Global Warming” while NEVER mentioning the money made by those bent on global destruction.

So Al Gore sells a few books and members of Academia benefit from study grants—-Big Deal! How much money do the Kock Brothers and James Inhofe and Exxon/Mobile stand to make by pushing oil?

    • David

What has that got to do with it. You left out Bob Hope and Christmas trees.

      • Patrick E. Timmel

It has everything to do with it. Those who perpetrate the lie that global warming is not a reality…those who have spent millions trying to convince the world that the truth is not the truth…such as the Koch brothers are investing in this lie because they are too greedy and selfish to change their “screw the world…I’m in it for me” ways. Financially these scoundrels have the most to loose if they are expected to be responsible global citizens. As I’ve said before, if global warming proponents are wrong then the greatest harm is that we’ve found an alternative to finite fossil fuels earlier than necessary. BUT if they’re right then God help us all if we don’t continue trying to find solutions to the problems.

        • Brian

You grossly over simplify the situation. The greatest harm is the plundered treasury and the loss of freedom. I know, the spotted horny toad is far more important than our freedom. What was I thinking?

          • Eric Bischoff

            Brian,
If you pray to the money God then you are right.

          • Karolyn

It might start with the horny toad, but it ends with no more wild animals. How would you like that kind of earth? Each and every creature is important!

          • libertytrain

Karolyn, don’t forget about the new species found almost daily.
            http://www.wildlifeextra.com/go/news/*:newspecies&template=new_species#cr

          • eddie47d

Yes but those rare and newly found species are already being exploited. Because they no longer have the isolation that allows them to live they will soon become extinct. There are thousands of species (plants, insects and animals) that disappear every year also. If man is allowing them to die off then what hope is there for these new species.

          • Karolyn

liberty – Yes, there are new species beng discovered all the time, but does that negate the loss of other species due to man’s “dominion” over the earth? Will there eventually be a whole new array of animal and plant life to take over from what we kill of? That’s an interesting concept to ponder.

          • libertytrain

No, it doesn’t. I was demonstrating the positives of life. It goes on. And I don’t know the answers but I don’t think those of us in this time and places are geniuses with regards to these things. I have no faith in a greedy man like gore or any of those that say do as I say not as I do….

          • Flashy

Brian…several articles of late itemize the true cost of a gallon of gasoline for the consumer. With subsidies, cost of the military presence and defense of the oil lifelines, and everythinhg else factored in, the true cost is about triple of what you pay at the pump. What was that you were saying about a plunderd treasury?

          • Tom W.

There are several species of ding-bats in this line of posts that I believe this world would be better off without!!! But that’s just me!

        • John

What sort of fool duchebag wants to be a “responsible global citizen”? I don’t have a passport with Planet Earth on it! As far as I’m concerned he world can burn – and likely will with all these crazed lunatic Muslim fanatics trying to get nukes these days – so who wants to be a citizen of that mess? Only a deluded nutjob…like yourself, for example. No thanks. I want no part of your ‘sky is falling” kool aid. I desire neither to be responsible nor a global citizen. I’ll leave that worthless job to you. besides, your hatred for fossil fuels will soon be over. It looks like Doc Brown’s garbage disposal/fuel creator is already here. Fossil fuels are already a thing of the past. It just takes a few years for it to die. But die it will. And it won;t be because of “global Warming”. It will be because we are all very tired of Saudi Princes screwing us over any chance they get.

Don’t we have enough stupid government programs intended to “solve” some problem but only puts money into the pockets of the politically well connected or the well off? Wasn’t the solution to this “problem” a special carbon tax and a market to trade carbon credits. So no it isn’t just doing the research.

        • speedle

Pal, if you yourself don’t have a financial stake (stock in green energy, etc.), then you need to get fitted for one of those foil hats Crystal was referencing. I can understand Algore, Bernie Madoff and his ilk who are trying to make a buck on a scam. That computes. But nut bags who actually buy into and defend such a hoax – well it’s embarrassing just to watch.

More and more ignorance is the law of our land. More and more people have given up logical thought to pursue their own interests or the believe that someone in politics is actually trying to help them out. More and more we are working for the non-thinkers in this nation and I’m thinking it’s time for me to shut down and go on strike until they finally see the results of their programs and illogical though processes.

        • Capitalist at Birth

Who says “fossil” fuels are finite? What are fossil fuels? Are they from fossils? Oil is being created under the earths surface as we speak. Why aren’t you aware of that. What kind of fossils do you think oil is from?

          • Mike in MI

            Now, Capitalist -
That wasn’t what they were taught in our wonderful, right up to date,
beautiful, politcially correct, tenure driven, don’t rock the boat, revised history (and science, and art, and math, and unreading, and push ‘em to graduation) diploma mill “education” system.
DON’T confuse them with facts. They know what they believe and that’s enough. They’ve received a liberal education and facts are of no value.

          • David

Dear capitalist, a young lady called me a fossil once. I am glad you are taking up for us.

          • An Actual Scientist

APN…you got one thing right! You ARE simple minded AND you’re STILL the dummy.

          • APN

Well Mr. Science man, maybe or maybe not, but not by any evidence you’ve given us.

Come back to us in about 20 years and explain to us once again why YOUR scientific predictions did not pan out to well for you.

        • meteorlady

No the greatest harm has been done to citizens of countries that had to pay their hard earned money because prices have skyrocketed as a result of carbon credit exchanges, while people like Gore, Clintons and the rest invested in those very exchanges.

The fact that one single global disaster, like a volcanic eruption will set us back 20 years on all our savings never comes into your illogical equation does it?

        • Mike in MI

          Great Patrick -
It’s a wonderful idea you’ve got! If we think is sync with you and al we can’t lose. No matter what happens everybody is covered. Right? Because as you read it it’s either going to get hot or stay as it is now. Right? If no glowball warming we didn’t lose anyhing and if GW comes we pushed it back a little. Right?
Green energy everywhere, no dirty oil and gas killing nice poofy white bears and everybody dancing around the mulberry trees. You will have bought your thong and joined everyone thinging the thong on the beach in Death Valley. Everyone globally warmed and cozy.
Well, what if all the questionable science hides the facts of impending return to long term frigid weather – - – but we have not been allowed to harvest the oil, gas and other resources we would need in such an event.
I wonder if anybody would be coming around begging to get into your circle at the beach in their bikini? in the 20 degree weather? in the snow? beside the ice flow?
Surely somebody as wise and thoughtful as you could convince them they should.

        • MNIce

No, the harm to over-reaction to a putative man-made global warming threat is far greater than that. We are already seeing the result in increased starvation in the poorer nations as we use farmland to grow “alternative” “planet-friendly” fuel instead of food. Attempts to deny relatively cheap fossil fuels to developing nations forces the poor people to cut down local woodlands for cooking fuel, thereby exacerbating environmental conditions which contribute to their poverty. Taking our money and handing it over to them is not the answer – the money almost invariably ends up in the hands of the few highly influential individuals in control of those countries, and the poor people end up even more dependent on others.

Besides that, global warming is a bad answer to the wrong question. All that coal we’ve been burning was once part of the ecosystem – all we’re doing is putting it back into the biosphere. The question we should be asking is why is not being re-incorporated into the environment rapidly enough to keep the CO2 levels from rising?

I submit part of the answer is the problem I described in the first paragraph – deforestation in poverty-stricken areas. Instead of corrupt redistribution schemes, we should send a bunch of experienced capitalists into those areas to examine the available resources and figure out how to help the locals make money from using them wisely instead of burning themselves out of a homeland. This would be capitalism at its best – money is the reward for helping others with useful products or services, whether it be the investment capital to bring in cleaner, more efficient energy and agriculture technology, or if not the eventual export of goods from a previously unproductive region, at least true self-sufficiency.

Alex, Al Gore is as phony today as he has been ALL of his goverment supported life. • meteorlady

If Obama really wanted to make a change and save us, he would have started by pushing natural gas as a fuel to provide trucks and cars with energy. It is inexpensive and abundant yet he is just getting there. If we had done this 4 years ago, we would be energy independent and allow enough time for alternative energy sources, wind, nuclear and solar to be better developed.

    • meteorlady

Oh boy the new liberal bad boys the Koch Brothers. They run the most successful privately owned business in the US an employee thousands of workers here. What’s wrong with that? What’s wrong with any money they give to conservative candidates? Why don’t you people every mention George Soros? Afraid of opening that can or worms?

If you can actually get your mind to think here’s something to think about. Logic means that 1 is 1. It’s not 1 is 2 or 3 or anything other than 1. To arrive at a contradiction in your thinking, means there is an error in your thought process. BUT to continually maintain that contradiction is to give up logical thought process and shut your mind off from the realm of reality.

Sorry, but unless you have proof otherwise, Ben is correct. Lots of people are making lots of money of this. Logic tells you that our planet is evolving – you cannot change that 1 is 1. Logic tells us that judging from past events, the earth has warmed and cooled based on conditions such as volcanic eruptions, ocean currents and natural disasters. One single volcanic eruption will set back all the saving we have made, through green jobs and energy, 20 years or more. I don’t dispute that we could be cleaner, but to take it to the point of political gain and monetary gain is just illogical.

      • mike1127

The vast majority of people refuse to see anything logically. They go into a debate with a preconceived idea and go from there. Once somebody has made up their mind, it’s just about impossible to get them to change it.

Some people are convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that the world is warming. Some are just as convinced that it is cooling. Few have realize that our planet’s weather is always changing. Most people think the weather should stay the same century after century. Some people just want to make a quick buck from lazy people who refuse to think or research anything for themselves.

Good luck. Too many people on here refuse to admit they may be wrong about anything at all.

      • Flashy

meteorlady…i see where no one disputed the defense of the koch bros because they make a lot of money, employ a lot of people, and are the very essence of enemies against the working man. I would think then george Soros will be as welcomed here since he embodies the first two traits of the koch bros at the least.

        • MNIce

“the very essence of the enemies of the working man”? You cannot be serious! Why would an enemy of the working man pay anyone to work? Wouldn’t an enemy of the working man take away his reward instead? You know, like the bureaucrat who demands a big chunk of the paycheck be withheld for taxes before the working man can buy a single piece of bread for his children?

        • Angel Wannabe

Flushed, I don’;t think the Koch Bros are trying to Collapse the US, soros’ on the other hand well you finish it….

If the Koch Brothers are soooo terrible because they are rich and employ alot of people and so that makes them an enemy of the working man___I must ask if you if work for a poor man?

        • meteorlady

I think it was said just below your post, but in case you can’t understand plain English….. what would the US look like without corporations? As for Soros, Soros is a bottom feeder. He manipulates the money supply by betting against the dollar. He almost brought the Bank of England to it’s knees and thousand of people in the UK lost most of their savings. Some believe he started the economic collapse in 2008 by pulling a few BILLION from the stock market. He love power, espouses social engineering because according to him most people aren’t smart enough to make decisions about there life and their government.

HE MOST CERTAINLY DOES NOT BELONG WITH THE KOCH BROTHERS

    • Lee Baldwin

the more we all fight about it, the more value the oil has, Alex. THAT is what this is all about. GLOBAL DOMINATION by the United States OIL COMPANIES. NOT the US, the US OIL COMPANIES. THey are counting on using up the Saudi oil so the US has most of the world il production. You can bet all you have the price will go up in a huge way then.

      • MNIce

The oil companies make roughly the same amount per barrel, no matter what the price is. When the price goes up, they sell their more expensive production, and when it goes down, they sell from their cheaper wells. If they use up their cheap wells when the price is high, they are out of business when the price drops.

The people who really make out when the price goes up are the oil-exporting governments. Haven’t you noticed how Iran starts cutting up every time the price drops? When oil dropped below $80;/barrel a few years back, they paid Hezbollah to start a missile war with Israel and scare everybody with the thought of a widespread MidEast conflict. When oil went up past $110, the Iranian government oil export agency announced it had 20 full supertankers loaded up and was ready to auction off the deliveries. Those tankers are generally booked more than a year in advance -you can’t tell me this wasn’t planned.

Likewise, just a few weeks ago oil was heading down towards $90, so Iran started saber-rattling and talking about closing down the Strait of Hormuz. Sure enough, oil is back up to $100. I wouldn’t be surprised if our Mid-East friends are in on the game. Iran plays the bad guy; the others play the good guys. The whole idea is to keep us nervous enough to pay premium prices without getting us upset enough to bite. Maybe we should start talking about how blocking the Strait would affect food delivery…

  • Jenasus

The Earth came out of an Ice Age and is moving into a Heat Age. Ice Age to Heat Age and Heat Age to Ice Age. The pendulum is in motion.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Just ask any Dinosaur, they will tell you all about it. Dino the Dinosaur told me that it is going to get hot in Yellowstone this year so they are joining the “Dinosaur Migration” this year. Prepare to be vaporized.

    • Warrior

Speaking of “vaporized”, is there some correlation between global warming and where “MF Global’s” money went? Maybe flushy and his democreep friends should study that.

  • David

Even if the warming has not stopped, the climate scare requires an assumption: that a few degrees warmer would be a disaster. The best global temperature was 5000 years ago and known as the “climactic optimum”. The earth was 2 to 4 degrees warmer than now and the Sahara desert was a huge grain field with 5 lakes the size of the great lakes, the Nile carried 7 times the water than now. It is a vast hoax. The real scare is 2 to 4 degrees cooler, we could not feed the world population and that would be Bush’s fault and Gore would make money from that too.

    • Disgusted

David, you are right on the money. The scare mongers are praying on the World’s populations ingorance. AG and his cronies have gotten richer and “we the people” have been had. You only need to watch the Discovery or History channels to see a documentary on the history of the world to know it goes through these fluctuations naturally, better yet they should be teaching this stuff in school to our children so when they hear the crap AG and others are spewing they will know the truth and not be swayed by it.

      • Dave

Teachers across America use Discovery and History programming all the time as source material in their classes. When did you go to school? The schools are not as bad as you imagine them.

        • Warum?

Just because it is taught in school does not mean that it is valid. Most teachers do not make the effort to research what they teach, that’s why they rely on television programming on the History and Discovery Channels. That really is not the best source of truth.

When I worked as an Elementary teacher, I was told by my principal, not to present both sides of this issue, (“that would be being political, which is forbidden.”) I was told that the point of view I was to present was the “PC” point of view. I was to disregard any info that did not match was on what Al Gore was saying. Does THAT make it factual?

          • meteorlady

Why does it have no validity? It’s logical so is that what makes it invalid? Is it logical to believe in science when it is disputed by other scientist? Is it logical to believe in global warming when we have been through numerous cycles on this plant, all of which have been proven? I don’t understand…..

          • DaveH

You attack the credibility of Mises regularly, Flashman, but you never offer any evidence to support such accusations. What else can we expect from a person who has NO Credibility?
Come on, Flashman, ask me to prove it.

          • Flashy

DavidH…I don’t need any ‘evidence’ etc to know Casper comic books aren’t in the same category as the Encyclopedia Britannica either. Mises and scientific validity has about the same comparison level.

I have no doubt that you were unable to stay on the Mises site because it’s for people with thinking minds, not people that choose to live their lives with their heads in the sand.

    • John

David, your info does not chive with the fact that the seal levels where on average 100ft and more LOWER 5000 years ago. Want evidence? Look at the submerged cities in the Mediterranean, ever since the last ice age the sea levels are rising. The last time the Sahara desert was lush and green was about 8000 years ago when world just had left the last ice age. During the Egypt so called Golden Age (~ 5000 years ago called the golden age because of the way the civilization prospered not because of the climate), the vast fields where because of irrigation not because of natural rain. As can be seen from natural sandstone formations in Egypt and Israel the last erosion from rain date back 8,000+ years ago.
The end of the glacial period brought more rain to the Sahara, from about 8000 BC to 6000 BC,( -10,000 to -8000 current time) because of low pressure areas over the collapsing ice sheets to the north.
Once the ice sheets were gone, the northern Sahara dried out.
20000 years ago, the Alps in Europe where under 3000ft of ice and it is during that time that Egypt and the Sahara desert where a natural grassland and all type of species survived the ice age of this planet because of the close proximity to the equator and the maximum amount of sunshine. Since the official end of the Ice age, sea levels have been rising…with the exception of a stagnation during the mini ice age during a prolonged solar minimum …ever since the last ice age.
I am a firm believer in global warming and climate change, but I am NOT believing the man made nonsense. The earth was a lot warmer in the past, it also was a lot cooler, and NOTHING man will do will change the fact that there will be another ice age sometimes in the future. There have been long intervals before of hundreds of millions of years, but all it takes is the explosion of one of the super volcanoes that is a thousand times more powerful then all nuclear bombs man has combined, or one large impact like the one that may have destroyed the dinosaurs to swing earth into the next ice age. We may not see a asteroid impact in our future, but NOTHING man does will prevent one of the super volcanoes to erupt, its not a question of if they erupt but when. We are due for an eruption of the Yellow Stone caldera a super volcano that is erupting on average every 80-100 million years +-, and we are due for the next one. It will destroy this country and cause a new ice age just as it has done in the past. It will happen, and NOTHING we do will prevent it.

      • David

I agree. Open minds work a lot better than being a kool aid drinker.
The secular left cannot face that man has always had gods and happy hunting grounds and since they are not Bhuddists , or Methodists, they are now Global Warmothodists, and if we do not renounce our carbon burning sins, we will be condemned to eternal fires in the hell of Carbon, but if we repent, we will ascend up to the Heaven of wind mills and solar magic, far above the smoke filled land of sinners. And if you don’t believe you are an infidel and they will call you names. Just read this blog.

        • John

David, you are tight in all but one, name calling goes both ways…

          • David

I try not to call names worse than cool aise drinker.

      • meteorlady

Ah a logical and educated thinker. thanks….. still won’t convince the illogical here on this board, but thanks anyway.

        • David

          Thanks.

      • APN

John, I agree with 99% of your comments however there is no factual evidence WHATSOEVER that the planet is currently in a warming cycle. In fact, using the very limited data we have on this subject, the temp is on a downward trend, not upward, which confirms your assessment of entering the next anticipated Ice Age.

I would suggest that any major event, like the Pacific ring of fire becoming active again, would almost immediately trigger the next Ice Age. It’s not if it’s going to happen, but WHEN, and it is a mathematical certainty.

        • John

APN, in the long view of changes, yes we are in a warming cycle ever since the ice age… it was never cold enough in the small up and downs to cause mile thick ice sheets to form in Europe, Canada or Australia…yes there where cold spells byt those are just small fluctuations within the larger cycle. It is a lot warmer now in North america on average then it was 15000 years ago.
Nobody knows how long it warm up, will future generation see the continent of Antarctica Ice free as it was before the Ice age? possible as long as no super volcano erupts or no comet or asteroid hits this planet. Will the northern and southern continents be covered by thick ice in the future? Of course it will, this eco system is quite fragile and all it takes is a bump to swing the pendulum into the opposite direction. Will mankind be able to do this? Nope, not even if you put all the nuclear weapons on one point and set them off. Look at the energy output of a volcano like Mount St Helen ( a relative small eruption in comparison to others) and at the estimated energy output of all nuclear weapons in this world. The total energy output, on May 18, was equivalent to 400 million tons of TNT – approximately 20,000 Hiroshima-size atomic bombs. Will setting of all nuclear weapons in one spot at the same time cause a short term cooling ? YES, but no nuclear winter like it was shown in the movies and for sure no new ice age… man’s puny attempt of energy output is dwarfed by the events nature can cause.

          • Lee Baldwin

Hey, Mr.Scintist John, ~HOW MUCH RADIATION WAS RELEASED when Mt. St. Helens exploded? All the NON-SCIENTISTS here sure can mae themselves believe just about anything. You are all becoming Al Gore by spewing your own thoughts as science here!!!

We are talking energy output not radiation….if you want to talk radiation then look at the radiation that the asteroid caused that hit the gulf of Mexico about 65 million years ago and is estimated to have had the energy output of about 1 million Mt St Helen and 160 million times the radiation output of little boy. It is estimated (but not yet proven) that the radiation, heatwave, pressure wave and ensuing Ice age killed off about 93% of all life on this planet and caused the extinction of the dinosaurs..

          • APN

John, great points! Your keyword being the “Long Term” view of things. I agree with that statement completely.

People are led to believe that this warming trend is a “Short Term” event based upon a very limited time slice of data taken over a very short period. In fact, the data that we have collected to date on this subject equates to 0.000000022% time slice of data as relative to the “reported” age of the planet. Bottom line, we have NO CLUE and the relative data could represent an anomaly created by any number of UNKNOWN events.

What they are attempting to do with our man made “Science” would be the equivalence of trying to measure just how dark it is outside.

      • Mark in LA

John I think major Ice Ages and cooling also coincide with the Earth’s rotational pattern in 100,000 year cycles with the CO2 rising and falling approximatly 800 years before the real cooling.

Al Gore and the Global Warming alarmist are proof that the American people are divided between potential fools and “fellow travelers” The American scientific community reflects the typical socialist ideals that seem to be so pervasive in most of the academic community. Wasn’t it P.T. Barnum, of circus fame, who allegedly said, “There’s a fool born every second.” Al Gore has taken this to heart!

  • http://Yahoo Justice

No one can believe in global warming. Hey Al Gore, should we cap the volcanoes before they explode? Who was around in the 17th century when forest fires broke out by a lightning bolt? Al Gore wants us to go back to the horse and buggy days. Do your wash down by the river and beat the clothes on a rock. Mean while Al Gore is riding in his suv. Burning more gas than two small sedans. When Al Gore and Obama use the electric car then I will know they are really serious. Until then happy trails in my Buick Lacrosse 2007 30 MPG highway.

    • NC

Justice,”No one can believe in global warming.” Maybe not in OHIO or whereever but that fellow standing on “his” island in the Pacific that is slowly being swallowed up by the rising ocean might see things a little differently. What is your explanation as to where that “extra” water is coming from? CLUE.
Russia is planning a whole new merchant marine venture because the polar ice is going away!

      • Mark in LA

The problem is wasting enormous amounts of money and effort thinking we are the cause and can stop it when the Earth has gone through numerous cooling and heating cycles each with larger extremes that the deviation we are seeing now.

      • DaveH

You’re right, NC, the polar ice is going away. It does that every summer so the Propaganda Media can film it and convince ignorant people that it’s a long term trend caused by men:
        http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2011/05/25/polar-ice-rapture-misses-its-deadline/

      • John

NC, how about the citizens of the cities in the Mediterranean that were swallowed up by rising sea levels during the last 4000 years, was this also man made global warming or just perhaps because….gasp…ever since the last ice age the sea levels are rising? Before the last ice age, Antarctica was ice free and a vast grass land… wanna bet most of the coastal areas man has settled today where under a hundred and more feet water at that time and some islands not even visible?….
Global warming is real, no doubt about that, man made global warming is a hoax.

      • meteorlady

So explain to me how Al Gore and his money making minions are going to stop the rise of the Oceans or the melting of the ice caps? it’s illogical to me that they can or would even try. It’s a world phenomenon and it’s not going to change because we all stop driving our cars and start freezing in our homes.

  • Flashy

Anyone deny we’ve had some extremes these past few years? Anyone think man made pollutants may have impacted the extremes a tad? Actually, taking a flight and seeing that brown haze over most of the world’s cities should give some cloue we have an impact.

Now…on the one side we have the naysayers who refuse to believe man’s activites are having any impact…and they cite solitary research findings just published and not yet vetted by ample peer review.

Who benefits from the slowing of controls on emissions? Ummm…well, there are the Big Corporations and Oil/Coal. And there are …. ummm … well …. gee … not many others. And the past year who has been railed against in this, and every other speech forum? Why…corporate elitists.

Recall the Keystone Pipeline? the 100,000 plus jobs promised? It now turns out the most jobs it will create will be around 2-5,000. And the oil shipped tothe Gulf is destined for open seas…not for the US. those are facts. Yet we were led to believe otherwise..because the propaganda machine of oil and Big Corporate elitists wanted us to pay for that pipeline. Rumor has it Canada doesn’t want to spend the $$ to build the pipeline to its West Coast. Something about cost and environmental concerns. Oh wait..those are the same concerns we were told weren’t really valid concerns for us to consider…

Bottom line on Climate Change. those who refuse to believe it is underway. Who want to ignore the wild weather patterns of recent years …

    What if you are wrong?

Those who want to err on the side of caution and begin efforts to lessen Man’s impact? If they’re wrong, we end up with nothing less, nothing more than a cleaner environment.

    Think about that …

    • David

I’m all for cleaner air, ever hear of the catalytic converter. BUT, I don’t need to participate in a lie, (anthropogenic global warming), to get cleaner air. Why can’t the hoaxers do it with truth instead of lies?

    • Sirian

LOL, Flashy you are so utterly ignorant. AG just loves non-thinking gullible idiots and counts his profits with glee. OK, tell ya what, go look up the amount of CO2 that is emitted during one large volcano eruption. Then, compare that to the total amount of CO2 that we grizzly humans emit into the atmosphere each year. CO2 produced by the human population of this planet is the main driving force behind your well embedded ignorance, is it not? Now don’t forget to check on the number of recorded eruptions each year also. Oh yes, don’t forget to check on the solar activity that is and has been in progress for a very, very long time. I doubt if you would be able to understand any of the data available concerning solar activity but that too is one of the most common sense main contributing components of our atmosphere’s temperature level regardless of whether you believe it or not. LOL, Flashy you can sure toss out some good idiots humor.

      • David

You need to read my post again. I was not saying what you thought I said. Resorting to name calling does not bolster your credibility.

      • CJ

If you’re so worried about the CO2 level, then hold your breath. That should reduce it a notch or two.

      • Flashy

Sirian…what if you are wrong? There is the natural alance…so you are stating that of all the industrial and consumer pollutants, the fact that the Arctic cap is melting each summer, the glaciers falling intothe seas in Antractica etc etc… that Man has negligible impact? If that’s your take…you truly are robotic and believing everything you are programmed to.

So…question … what if you are wrong? what’s the ramifications? What’s the scenario?

Versus what is the impact if the Climate change theorists are wrong.

Seems the latter has a much better ‘wrong’ than the former. And you’re willing to gamble the kids and grandkids environment on that?

        • Mark in LA

Flashy do you really think the whole world will end because the temperature is a degree or two colder. I realize you are supposed to believe in some kind of runaway Venusian hothouse effect but the Earth has been much hotter and gone through periods of alot more CO2 in the air.

So what if the world population decreses? It needs to if we are ever to be able to run on purely renewable resources.

          • Mark in LA

I meanta degree or two warmer.

          • Flashy

No, i don’t think the world will end if the temps change a degree or two. The Earth will be around long after we are extinct.

i would, however, prefer to think we can slow down the changes caused by our tossing junk into the air. Common sense would tell you it has to have some effect. And the cost of adapting to those changes (social, economic, food, etc) is much better if spread out over hundreds of years than a mere 50-100.

          • APN

            Flashy,

Why do you care about the lifespan of the planet? Given your “Science”, the earth is about 4.5 billion years aged, correct? Your expected lifespan is about 73 years, correct?

That means your time slice on this planet is about 0.000000016%. What happens to you then? Do the worms eat you? If so, may I ask again, why do you care what the lifespan of this planet is?

It would seem to me that those who believe in “Science” over GOD would not be too concerned about the “Health” of the planet, or what scientific theory am I missing here? Or does your “Science” assert that while you are being consumed as “Worm Food” after living here for 0.000000016% of the age of the planet, that in some scientific way you will have the ability to be concerned for all those of us who have been left behind?

Or, maybe in some weird scientific way, you can change things from the belly of a worm?

Given our “Science”, evolution happens SLOWLY over MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS of years, so once again, why do you and Al gore worry so much about the lifespan or health of the planet?

            Just curious?

    • APN

Ok, I’ve thought about it. What is your point as it relates to the subject matter at hand? Do you understand the permanence of chance?

The only thing permanent with this planet is CHANGE. It spins on an axis and has a magma core. You actually think WE HUMANS can control that? You actually think we can control the earths rotational relation to the sun?

I would be more concerned with the Pacific ring of fire than all these “man made” emissions. Check with your brilliant buddy Gore and see if he can come up with a “man made” mechanism to control the PROF. I mean why not? He invented the internet!

    • DaveH

Flashman says “And the oil shipped tothe Gulf is destined for open seas…not for the US. those are facts”.

Actually I do believe that the recorded millions upon millions of buffalo and bison had a larger CO2 output then man today. • meteorlady

You do know that the Gulf is where all our oil refineries are located right? Did it occur to you that this oil would need to be refined?

      • Flashy

it was on this site not long ago someone stated there were at least two refineries in Montana and I believe Minnesota which could handle all the oil pumped through the Keystone pipeline.

There is another source, I believe it may have been Canada’s government..which stated the oil was meant for sale on the international market and was never meant to be a US supply pipeline.

        • meteorlady

Yes there are in those states and a few more like Washington State, but if you look at their capacity and the fact that they can’t get a permit to expand, they are unsuitable for processing that much oil. It would seem that California has a few as do Illinois and others, but they are not large enough.

    • http://www.archivale.com/weblog Marc de Piolenc

Hello! What does photochemical smog have to do with the global warming scam? (Hint: nothing). Nitrogen oxides are a recognized pollutant, and they’re on the decline because car engines are improving. This column is about the fraud of classifying carbon dioxide – a harmless and even necessary gas – as a pollutant that is going to turn Earth into Waterworld, or a rough copy of Venus. NOx, as unpleasant as it can be where it accumulates, is not even alleged to have an impact on global climate.

  • kerry

For those that want liberty forget it! The Fed. Gov. has 16% of our population as employees, at least one of their family memebers will vote to keep them employed, thus big gov., now add 30% welfare takers makes this game over. If anyone thinks they will be taken care of in old age forget it, best bet to shoot a politician, go to jail and have all of your needs taken care of! That is the sad facts!

    • Capitalist at Birth

Did you mean: Those are the sad facts.

  • bigjeff

    Talk about junk ….

The rest of the comment from the UK Met was: “The UK’s Met Office has unveiled preliminary figures showing that according to its global temperature database, worldwide temperatures this year have descended to the levels seen in 1997. However Met Office researchers insist that dangerous global warming is still very much underway.”

    • Flashy

Maybe Ben Crystal can explain the omission since he cited the study for the basis of today’s ranting … there was another article citing the study for today as well.

  • Patrick E. Timmel

Those who refuse to believe the overwhelming scientific evidence AND COMMON SENSE that 6 BILLION people on this planet burning fossil fuels at an unprecedented rate are not contributing to dramatic climate change due to global warming belong in the same category as those who deny that evolution is the way that God chose to bring about his creation. Many probably also believe men never walked on the moon and that the earth really is flat. Come on people…try to think for yourselves for a change rather than listen to the tripe that big polluting industries have paid talking heads to spout so they wouldn’t be burdened with actually having to be responsible citizens and and good stewards of the precious finite resources God has given ALL peoples to prosper from. Hey, if we try to affect change and we’re wrong about global warming what’s the harm done? If global warming is in fact a fact…which most scientist purport, and we don’t try to find alternative fuel sources to slow it down or even stop it…then we’re all screwed. Do the right thing!

    • David

As the article says , it is not scientific truth. I know Gore pushes this hoax. Now the truthful disaster is the destruction of rain forests especially Brazil. I will join you on that one.

      • Jack Harrison

Just a note on the rainforest:
An article in Scientific American discussed the ethanol use in Brazil. They derive the vast majority of all of their automobile fuel from locally grown sugar cane.
The article discussed the fact that they are continually destroying vast amounts of rain forest every year in order to produce more ethanol.
Oh, and it also noted that they BURN the cane fields, twice annually, before planting the next crop.
Yep. Sounds like that’ll save the planet!

      • eddie47d

Yes Jack there are evil entities in every country willing to destroy their bounty for the desperate and rapidly growing populations. The world is becoming boxed into a corner with all the environmental degradation yet we march to the tune of the Corporate Elite.

    • Howard

“Hey, if we try to affect change and we’re wrong about global warming what’s the harm done?” Really? That’s your thought process?
I can tell you what harm has been done. Millions of dollars have been lifted from the pockets of a trusting populace and placed in the bank accounts of people who should be in prison for the hoax they have perpetrated.
      P.T. Barnum was right.

      • David

        Good one.

    • Brian

What you blame humans for has been going on longer than humans have walked the Earth. Climate. Hange is real and constant. The cause is natural.

    • Patriotic nut

I have no problem with finding alternative fuels and think they would be a great thing but the “harm” that you are asking about is very real. The way that the “green” movement is pushing will cause energy prices to soar and our economy, along with many others, is already a shambles, it will eventually collapse under the weight of all the new regulations and people will be forced to live without electricity, fuel for vehicles, and little fuel to stay warm in winter. Is that the desire from the global warming theorists or is it simply to control the economy?

      • Eric Bischoff

        Patriotic Nut you are.
I guess along with Climate Change, you are also in denial of Peak Oil!

      • Karolyn

There already is a way for everyone to have free energy, but the powers-that-be won’t allow it. Watch “Thrive-The Movie.” It’s on YouTube in parts. Can you imagine the energy industry allowing that to happen?
        http://www.thrivemovement.com

      • Capitalist at Birth

The real goal is elimination of most of the population of humans so that they are easier to control.

    • MANNY

“WHO’S YOUR GODDY?” IF HE’S THE TRUE AND LIVING GOD THEN YOU KNOW HIM NOT FOR HE STATES DEATH CAME AFTER SIN. THEREFORE HE WOULD PROCLAIM EVOLUTION IS DEVIL-LUTION BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE HAS BEEN DEVOLVING SINCE SIN. IF NOT HIM THEN YOU BELIEVE THE “LIE” AND YOU HAVE A VASTLY MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM THAN MMGW,TRUSTING IN A “BELIEF SYSTEM” THAT HAS THE UTMOST ETERNAL RAMIFACATIONS. CAN YOU WRAP YOUR CEREBRAL CORTEX AROUND THIS. IF NOT – GET SAVED.

    • DaveH

Patrick says “Hey, if we try to affect change and we’re wrong about global warming what’s the harm done?”.
We’ve only lost much of our economy due to Big Government intervention. We’ve only lost much of our Freedom due to Big Government intervention.
And now Patrick thinks we should try just a little more.
“what’s the harm done?”. LOTS, Patrick.

    • meteorlady

Did it every occur to you that we are destroying rain forest all over the globe? Did you know that trees consume the pollution from our air? Did it occur to you that over-population is a bigger concern than global warming? Did it not set all our savings back 20 years the last time a volcano erupted? Sorry your argument just lacks substance. If we really want to stop this we need to get control of the earth’s population more than setting up trading floors to deal in carbon credits which will cost us all and make money for a few.

  • DSK

So all these extreme weather events are just a hoax and aren’t really happening? So the poleward migration of plant/animal habitation zones is just a hoax and not really happening? So the measured increases in ocean and atmospheric temperatures are just a hoax and aren’t really happening?

But that hundreds of thousands of climate scientists all around the world could all get together in a secret conclave and plot this hoax for the purposes of . . . er . . . well, for purposes — oh, yeah, that makes perfect sense.

Why don’t you folks at least try to get a grip on critical thinking?

    • David

Critical thinking, would question your assumptions as well.

    • Brian

No one denies that change happens. The dispute is the cause. Try some of that critical thonking for yourself.

      • Karolyn

You can’t seriously believe that all the crap we put out into the atmosphere isn’t having some kind of influence over what happens to the earth.

        • APN

NO, I do not believe that. Show us your science to back up your claim. I’ve spent a lifetime analyzing data, so send it to me.

The fact is Karolyn, you say these things because it feels like the right thing to say without any factual evidence WHATSOEVER to back it up. Just like AG, he runs around the country entertaining our KIDS with his “Global Warming” propaganda and tires to convince them that WE PARENTS are just to “Stupid” to understand it. Let’s see HIS factual scientific data on the subject matter. Now remember, AG stated that just a few feet deep under the surface of our planet it is MILLIONS of degrees hot!!! LMAO!!!

Using data that has been collected to date, the fact is the planet is entering a cooling cycle, not a warming cycle. But before you do, please do not put to much faith in that statement because the time slice of data they all these brilliant scientists are using to draw that trend is less than 0.000000022%, as it relates to the age of the planet. I would think that would leave a lot of room for ERROR, don’t you? Again, people with 8th grade math skills can totally debunk the entire concept of GW.

People who can think for themselves figured this plot by the left out years ago. It’s simple, this is THEIR planet, not ours. It is at their disposal to be used in any manner they see fit as long as you and I sit at home doing nothing other than being their “Subjects”. More room for them to enjoy the lakes, mountains, oceans, etc without the headache of having all we commoners around them. Remember, they believe in evolution, not GOD, so this is a one time shot for them to live as earthly Kings over the rest of us.

In fact, there is no concern for the health of the planet whatsoever by this elite bunch of morons, or better put, self-appointed gods of the planet. It is however about controlling the peoples so THEY can enjoy the resources of the planet at all others expense.

Point in case, how big is Al Gore’s house? How many HVAC units does it require to heat/cool his mansion? How about his multiple cars or jets, etc etc etc etc

I’m just no dumb enough to buy this crap, are you?

      • eddie47d

If a volcano can do permanent damage to the earth over a couple of days then imagine the onslaught of pollution that is dumped in our atmosphere on a daily basis. Pollution might not be as striking as a volcano but the only difference is a speedy death over a prolonged death or health damage.

        • Brad

          Eddie,

You might want to look at this site, you might have to rethink your comment “a volcano can do permanent damage to the earth over a couple of days” http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/mount-st-helens-30th-anniversary-before-after-science-environment-pictures/#/mount-st-helens-before-after-satellite-2000_20382_600x450.jpg

        • Brad

          Eddie,

What volcanos destroy, new growth occures over time because what has died has turned into nutrients allowing plants and new trees to grow. So no, volcanos don’t just destroy they also bring new life.

          • Karolyn

Interesting article about Krakatoa and it’s aftermath
            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1883_eruption_of_Krakatoa

          • eddie47d

I understand what you are getting at Brad but I will stand by my original statement. What you are saying is like forest or prairie fires replenishing the soil. No argument that volcanoes can do the same and some volcanoes can cool the planet by a degree or more by blocking out the sun. We got ash from the Arizona and Colorado fires and also from the Mt Hood volcano. Now pollution in general can either cool down the planet or trap the heat that is already there. The sun’s rays can heat the earth and then pollution (haze) can trap it in thus causing an increase in temperature. Just the opposite can also happen when on a cold day when pollution or even cloud cover can trap the cold air in. Now a daily barrage of pollution can do damage to earth over a period of time. Pollution can acidify the ocean and create dead zones where all life is deprived of oxygen. We also know what it can do to human health such as with coal ash.

          • libertytrain

Karolyn, I have to agree with you on Krakatoa – fascinating what it did re climate.

    • John

How do you explain the fact that the Antarctic continent was ice free before the last ice age? Would you say it was man made global warming too? Or just part of the natural cycle of this planet?

      • libertytrain

John, I almost think that people truly cannot see past their own little frame of mind to really grasp the bigger, much bigger picture.

    • Marie

I have heard that there is climate change happening on all the planets in our solar system. I believe this was said by NASA and I saw photos showing the differences in the planets. So climate change is a solar system thing NOT an earth thing. I saw this on the “2012 Enigma” video series on youtube.

    • meteorlady

Critical thinking? How about logical and moral thinking? There are just as many, if not more scientist that believe the global warming theory is wrong. so until they sort it out it’s logical to believe that the growing world population and the destruction of our forest and rain forest are more to blame than carbon emissions.

  • Dave

Why is it that conservatives are the ones who hate to conserve?

The overwhelming evidence from science is that the earth is going through a warming phase that is naturally occurring but the different in this cycle is man’s industry and modern farming, that is a variable in the mix. So what that means is the warming cycle we are in, will be that much more warm (How much more is a debate)

Why not do the CONSERVATIVE thing and conserve energy and find new and cleaner forms of energy?

Ignorants like to talk about Al Gore being an idiot but I saw his film, nowhere did he say that humanity is the sole cause of warming… If you paid attention to the charts he used, there are cooling spells and warming spells throughout earth’s history.

But Again, we get more right wing propaganda… “A Costly Liberal Lie”

    Way to go ideologs…

    • Guy Crockett

Do any of you remember the “hockey-stick” graphic? It showed the earth getting warmer and warmer until we are all cooked. We were supposed to be 5-6 degrees warmer already. We have had NO warming in over 10 years. It hasn’t happened, and its not going to happen. I’m all for clean air and water, but how long is it going to take for an all-electric 757 to be developed? And how is the electricity going to be generated? And how many people do you think it will be able to carry while dragging around 10 to 20 tons of batteries? We are going to be using oil as fuel for at least the next 50 years, get used to it.

    • eddie47d

Why do some of you insist there won’t be any oil or coal usuage? That is spreading a hoax from the other direction. The key is changing before we get to the point of no return and using our resources wisely. That hockey stick is still valid in how the earth had steadily remained consistent. Until the Industrial Revolution where the stick rapidly moves upward. The stick also takes into account the last ice age.

      • John

But it does not take into account that the temperatures where 12-18 deg HIGHER before the last ice age and even the N-pole and Antarctica where ice free. Antarctica was a continent with lush grass lands where today you have frozen tundra…

        • libertytrain
          • eddie47d

That map brings up more questions than answers. Since the technology wasn’t available to plot out such a map, either it’s not real or another civilization existed before Adam and Eve.Even today those waters are too treacherous to navigate most of the year and tall mast ships would have been crushed as turbulent as those Oceans are. Interesting concept though.

      • eddie47d

That would mean that the earth would have to have been half way turned on it’s axis in order for that to happen. The sun otherwise wouldn’t have been able to penetrate the Poles and create vegetation.

Yeah, if we did not have Bush, we would not have had Iraq, or tax cuts while fighting a war (when has that EVER happened in US history???), Incompetance on every level, The Patriot Act, The VP making a bundle off residule payments from Haliburton who got no bid contracts during the war.

For all we know, Gore would have listened to Richard Clarke and stopped 9/11 from happening…

Instead we got the worst president in the past 150 years… Bush Inc.

      • Wyatt

Sorry Dave , 9/11 would have happened and Al Gore would have sat and done nothing . bin Laden began his various attacks on US interests and properties due to his being told that he and his Mujahadeen were not needed during Kuwait Gulf war . This by the Saudi royal house and he decided to take it out on us. During the Clinton years he attacked embassies and the Cole .
During the BlackHawk debacle in Somolia he got the idea that the US was weak and without resolve as Clinton pulled us out allowing bin Laden to consolidate his plot . Clinton and Gore could have stopped the plot after the Cole incident when they had bin Laden targeted in a hunting camp . A missle strike from a US sub would have destroyed the entire camp he was known to be in . They chose not to strike as 1, it was on Saudi soil and 2,A C140 registered to the Royal House of Saud was parked in proximity to the camp .
No , I am afraid Al Gore would have stood around with his thumb up his ass and done nothing but contribute to global warming with a lot of hot air he insists on spouting

        • eddie47d

There was a missile strike against Bin Laden’s camp at an earlier date and the Republicans revolted against it. Told Clinton not to do it again which is probably why he didn’t attempt the strike you were referring to. Isn’t it strange though that the Democrats and Republicans play each other for political gain. That is the real damage.

          • Capitalist at Birth

            Your proof is?

          • eddie47d

The camp Laden was staying at in Afghanistan which was attacked from ships in the Persian Gulf during Clinton’s term.

          • Isaac Davis

Actually, the repubs/dems are playing all of US against each other–they are one in the same. Those we have elected to govern only got their power from us the governed, but duping us into believing they somehow know better to run our lives that we ourselves as sovereign individuals with UN-a-lienable Rights. When, if ever, we wake up enmasse to the knowledge that to keep a Republic demands constant vigilance, we might feel the invigoration in what it truly means to be an American. H.W. Bush was responsible for signing the U.S. up with that global warming garbage–look up “agenda 21″–in the boondoggle of convincing people that only through sacrificing our Liberty and our Freedom could we fix what they have told us was broken, yet no proof of anything really in chaos except what they created through gov’t meddling. If you want to see the real threat to America, look up ICLEI and how the “free” grant money has signed a pact with Satan in those communities. The Republic is in dire straits, and we all with rational minds need to use facts and common sense to educate other Americans to the threat within. People like Al-gore-bull-warming have no power without spreading fear into the minds of the ignorant and stupid. It’s impossible to fix stupid, but ignorance can be cured. We all have our task before us.

        • Dave

          Wyatt,

Your proof that Gore would of done nothing is?

      • The Wolf

n his State of the Union address tonight, President Obama will reportedly issue a call for “responsible” efforts to reduce deficits (while simultaneously calling for new federal spending). In light of the President’s expected rhetorical nod to fiscal responsibility, it’s worth keeping in mind his record on deficits to date. When President Obama took office two years ago, the national debt stood at $10.626 trillion. It now stands at $14.071 trillion — a staggering increase of $3.445 trillion in just 735 days (about $5 billion a day).

“To put that into perspective, when President George W. Bush took office, our national debt was $5.768 trillion. By the time Bush left office, it had nearly doubled, to $10.626 trillion. So Bush’s record on deficit spending was not good at all: During his presidency, the national debt rose by an average of $607 billion a year. How does that compare to Obama? During Obama’s presidency to date, the national debt has risen by an average of $1.723 trillion a year — or by a jaw-dropping $1.116 trillion more, per year, than it rose even under Bush.”

    • Eric Bischoff

Yeah imagine 8 years with Al Gore. No wars with the middle east wasting trillions of dollars but all of our energy instead rebuilding our country and making it into a lean mean fighting machine ready for the 21st century. A resurgence of interest in science in school. Solar panels making electricity and hot water on every building. New building codes. New clean energy sources. A massive energy efficiency movement. Booming geothermal, wind, tidal wave, solar, vibration energy industries. Electric cars, fuel cells. Less pollution, better air to breathe, less asthma in kids. Healthier fish in our lakes and oceans. Just think how much could have been accomplished in a decade!

I know I am just a dreamer. But I like my dream better than your f#$$d up reality.

But don’t worry every thing is going to be alright because you can all go live on Gingrich’s moon colony.

So, Eric, are you telling us that you protested Obama’s excursion into Libya?
You’re okay with wasting our money on Inefficient Alternative Energies?
You’re okay with Taxpayer Money being wasted on Solyndra and Ener1?
Since it’s a known fact, Eric, that the poorer countries have the dirtiest environments, how do you suppose that impoverishing us will result in a cleaner environment?
        Some common sense on Energy:

        • meteorlady

Add all the foreign aid to countries in the middle east and his excursion into Africa with “advisers”. Or that we guaranteed loans for Brazil to get bigger in oil when Soros owned a great portion of the company that took out the loan. He’s probably OK with that too…..

      • Warum?

Yes, it would be nice IF we could be granted our wishes and IF we could have our dreams come true…BUT, that really does not happen, does it? The use of machinery did not occur because horses were outlawed, did it? NO! The use of cars, machinery, electricity occurred BECAUSE EACH OF THEM PROVIDED A MORE ECONOMICAL AND EFFICIENT SERVICE than what had been in use.

When Solar, Wind and other ‘new’ energy sources actually prove to work in a manner that can be relied on, and at a rate that is less expensive than what is now in use, THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL THEY BECOME THE NORM! Governments cannot cause a workable change!

      • Isaac Davis

You forget to produce fuel cells that it takes another form of energy to produce the hydrogen. Electric vehicles require electrons generated from another source to charge them. It is estimated that the energy required to 100% build, erect and maintain a single wind turbine is equal to the energy it produces over it’s working life (zero sum gain). Every energy source on this planet is directly related to solar power as the sun was responsible for creating it through photosynthesis within carbon life forms–primarily prehistoric algae. You cannot get something for nothing. The United States reserves of coal can provide enough energy for several hundred years, yet this administration is doing everything possible through the NGO of the “epa” to shut down our use of our most abundant energy source. Go look up the number of coal-fired electric generation plants that are going offline in the next few years…where is that replacement electricity going to come from at the same $/watt? Think you’re going to live a “green” and cheap life? Man, are you in for a rude and poor and chilly wake up call. American ingenuity is being replaced with government stupidity.

  • Kenneth

A very well written article. It is astonishing to me how many people believe this BS. ALGORE has gotten filthy rich selling this snake oil, and teachers are teaching this garbage to our children starting at a very young age. It reminds me of the madrassas in Saudi Arabia. The Bible tells us to “be fruitful, multiply, and subdue the earth. If God thought man could destroy the earth, I don’t think He would have said that. A Godless society is the liberals ultimate goal, although you’ll never hear it from them. But just look at their actions.

john said: Religion is make believe by people that can’t take responsibility for their own life.

Then why do Christians advocate limited government, family values, marriage, self-reliance and helping the poor? Your statement seems to apply to the left, not the right.

Again, you seem to be a very confused person. You ever wonder why liberalism is referred to as the “Left”.

    • Karolyn

Did “God” really say subdue the Earth? I guess if you believe the myths, you believe that. Here’s a quote and link to an explanation of the reference for those who do believe the myths:
“So, in the spirit of a targum or paraphrase, here’s my take on how we should interpret Genesis 1:28: “Be fruitful and have children, filling the earth with your life so that you can have power to fight against everything in it that leads to death. Rule with care and fairness over the natural world, over the myriads of My beautiful creatures – from tropical fish to soaring eagles to dogs and cats – every creature that is a part of this living world.”’

If you want to interpret the Bible, go right ahead and create your own “truth” rather than the Truth of Jesus Christ. Your translation of The Book is flawed and rewrites scripture to fit a congregation who will assume that what is printed in that translation is the Word of God, when it is blasphemy.

the Truth of Genesis 1:28 is: “And God blessed them, saying: Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and rule over the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the air, and all living creatures that move upon the earth.”

        • APN

Yep! To establish dominion over all creatures of the planet. This is OUR garden, given to us by GOD, to be cultivated and cared for. To enjoy the fruits of our labor, to multiply and to expand our families and to give thanks to GOD for our creation.

We are simply expected to be good stewards of what GOD has FREELY given us, not to be taxed and controlled by those Progressive-Marxist self appointed “gods of the planet”.

They are the looters in Washington DC that take your money and pass it out to their friends and companies that support them with big bucks. So with that said, you must support that type of behavior because each of us is paying more and more to keep the farce going each and every year. We are the enablers because we work hard, think and produce. We are in essence their little salves because they count on the fact that we will always be there making money for them to loot an give to those that do nothing and contribute nothing.

How do you pull the synthetic wool over the bright young college students eyes,to make your ecology killing industries look as if you are protecting Gaia?
    You declare a world emergency,evidently.
You develop a scheme to get billions in grants(which helps pay for their schooling)and you have them manufacture stories that you create entire networks on television, and base them upon. Now you have thhe propaganda machine by which you can create a whole new fad that makes you filthy rich. But in doing so,you have utterly convinced the ecologically minded community that what you are doing is in their best interests.
Conservationists are apparently eager to join in the fun of this particular peculiar endeavor, because it speaks to things they have ralied about(when we watched Ewell Gibbons talk about his wild hickory nuts, and laughed at his comical view of ecology)for decades. All that was needed was junk science to get the globe rolling, and wallah!,Hollywood jumped on the bandwagon(much like they did for communism because it seemed like a good idea at the time)to entice the smallminded into obedience through movie magic.
Ah yes,Walt Disney comes to mind, doesnt he?
Mutual of Omaha aside, the Wild Kingdom of flower children, fresh from the acid trips they indulged in with Leary and the Beatles, came down from the stratosphere and into modern life grudgingly. They toiled at the evils of capitalism quietly waiting for some to come and turn the world around, and answer the questions they had found.
A way to make something out of nothing.
Taking advantage of the dark matter in the scientific communities cogitations,in goosestepped ALGORE to their rescue. Now billions in new technologies(at least ones that were pretty much dead in the water up until then)could be granted and generated by the conservationists and the ecologically insane.
Since ALGORE could not attain the presidency,he had to think of a way to establish his vision of ecological empire. So he turned to the Ivy League Academics for propagandizing purposes. The Whorelywood elites joined in(between bong hits),and the push for community organizing in the ecological sector was underweigh. All the old hippies and yuppies joined hands and sang,”we are the world,we are the children”,with a few bars of kumbayah thrown in for good measure.
The theory of Global warming was born(to those who prefer abortion when it comes to human beings)to the parents of conservationalism, and capitalism, and a blossoming new economy was sent forth to arise.
Unfortunately due to stillbirth, the young economy was stifled before it rose to its meteoric heights, and crippled the minds of anyone but the dope smoking Hitler-youth like ecology bowel movement.
Now the Obamites need it to prop up their campaign,so an all out effort to revive the dead is in full swing.Precious isnt it?

The physical changes that have occurred in the past 20 years occur by the natural order and are out of the realm of man being able to do anything about it. Since 1988, the earth’s magnetic pole changed drastically in it’s constant trek across our arctic. Instead of a couple of miles a year movement, it is and has been travelling 35 to 40 miles a year and has a daily shift of 40 to 60 miles back and forth causing a geomagnetic oscillation. The consequence of all this: For the past 100 years, the Earth’s magnetic field (the thing that does most of the shielding against the Sun) has weakened by 10%. Bottom line: More of the Sun’s energy hits our surface and no regulations on ozone or carbon dioxide emmissions can make any difference in stopping it. Funny that no one looks at known facts and then don’t talk about them.

I don’t know for sure about global warming, but it has been the warmest winter here in SC since I’ve been here (7 yrs.) and prior. It’s Feb. and to be 65 today. Also, what is the explanation for the polar ice and glaciers melting? That is documented fact.

Not to mention bogus flim flam men like gore….snake oil salesman…

I’ve been trying to find a compilation of average winter temps over a long period of time and can’t find it. All I know is that looking back over my lifetime of 65 years, the weather has changed, and I believe that, of course, there is natural change; however, man really is destroying the earth because of his greed.

        • libertytrain

weather record keeping is a fairly recent phenomena. All we know from the past is what we can gather from things written and some scientific measurements of the earth….

          • APN

Exactly! Insufficient data to plot out any meaningful trends.

Given the data we have collected to date on the subject, the past 100 years could be an anomaly due to sextillions of UNKNOWN factors. The current weather patterns may be consistent for the next 1 year or 1,000 years or their could be a radical change once the aforesaid anomaly has purged itself.

Given the wide range of variables to be taken into consideration in this subject matter, it would only take one major variable to radically change current weather patterns. i.e.; Pacific Ring of Fire

No amount of carbon emissions can create that radical change in a short period of time. If so, we would already be extinct. Furthermore, if that were to be the case, then given the junk science as presented by some on this subject, it is to late to do anything about it. DOOOMED! At least that is the snake oil their trying to sell to the weak at mind.

The world is a raging planet and has been since GOD created it. It is in a continual mode of CHANGE. No science of any kind can predict GOD’s creative genius nor predict what tomorrow will bring.

Next subject! Maybe economics and debt reduction??? Something a little more substantive that once improved will have a positive impact on we Americans.

Gore – BLAH! A common thief wouldn’t have anything to do with that _____. Gore makes Harry Reid seem smart in comparison, and Reid never knew when to come in out of the rain.

Great article! If the AG’s of the world want anyone to believe them they should lead by example and I don’t see any of them giving up one single thing! Our schools are teaching this crap with fear being the main motivator. Sound like anyone else? I recycle, raise a garden and turn off electronics, heat and air when not in use.Not much more I can do. But I shouldn’t have to pay a “carbon tax” just because all the elites can’t/won’t do the same. Come on people we have to beat back this out of cotrol liberal agenda. Majorities win and I believe I am in the majority lets fight back every chace we get!!!

  • Thomas Peterson

I agree Karolyn! Talk about all of the scattered reasoning above. One contrary article to global warming and most here feel that it has been totally disproved. Lemmings? Ask James Hansen, head of NASA’s Climatological Research for some facts.

Or better yet, they should all buy some land in Southern Florida to keep warm when their Earth cools. Make sure it comes with a houseboat!

All I know for sure is that it will get light tomorrow and the day after, …………. Stay alert, get a houseboat and learn how to build igloos – - CYA.

Maybe Ben Crystal should leave the science to scientists. Of course Al Gore is no scientist either, but the fact is mankind has raised the level of CO2 in the atmosphere by more than 50% and you don’t think that has an affect? The earth’s climate cycles through 300 to 500 year cooling and warming cycles. The “Little Ice Age” was devastating to northern Europe. What we have done with Global warming and yes it is real will be to minimize the affect of the next “Little Age”

Final the lies of Gore and his cronies are exposed along with their scams. Too bad so many fell for the lies put forward by these crooks.

    • Dave

And you want to believe the lies from the oil and coal cronies who really profit big from their claiming global warming is fake.
I certainly don’t trust them. They are the profiteers here, much more than anything on the “Green” side.

  • CanCan

It is fifty below up here right now. No one wants to hear Al Gore on global warming in these parts, as he would be likely thrown outdoors, and the door locked, just to show him how “warm” it truly is NOT. Never mind that Gore never puts his money where his mouth is. It is why I will never take the man seriously. While he makes billions off a global warming scam, flies private jets (not using green technology, I’m sure), and lives in mansions, he tells the rest of us we have to “go green”. Well, Gore, start walking buddy. Ooops, I forgot: This global warming stuff is just for us. I keep forgetting politicians and globalists always exempt themselves from the rules (including “going green”) they expect and demand the rest of us follow.

When has it been, to be Clean & Conserve seen as a bad thing?

When does the cost out weighs the benefits?

What are those cost and benefits?

Who is to bear the burden of these costs?

Who is to enjoy these benefits?

When has it been new products and new markets seen as a bad thing?

Why did the previous Administration sequester NASA employees from releasing data regarding atmospheric transition of planet earth?

Do we really question that the global climate is warming today or question the reasons that it’s warming?

What responsibility are you willing to accept to address a global issue that do not appear to affect you today?

If the argument can be made today that we work to protect future generations from indebtedness could we not make the same argument to protect the air that they must breathe and water that they must drink?

Just some questions to ask ourselves. I don’t have all the answers, do you?

We’re working to protect future generations from indebtedness? That’s news to me, Deer.

      • Deerinwater

read the question, David ~ “If the argument can be made” is what I said, what is being presented and offered today by opposition to any spending. Bottom line, opposition to global warming is about spending regardless of the many disguises it takes.

I thought you perhaps half bright, don’t disappoint me. If you are to attempt to twist and misconstrue my words, do a better job of it.

Misquoting a simple sentence only makes you look the fool.

I have excellent English comprehension skills. Did you not mean what you said?
If you were clumsily trying to say that we Should protect our Children from indebtedness, then how does that square with wasting our money NOW on inefficient energy technologies and burdensome Government which is increasing their future indebtedness?
Do not confuse your Ignorant statements, Deer, with my reading comprehension skills.

          • Deerinwater

You are right David, I am wrong, ~ guess I was multitasking and my focus was off. You didn’t misquote me, You took the question out of it’s frame of reference.

It “is” the argument that has been made in the effort to keep spending down and if it had not be made, any opposition to spending would have been only less. Where less was spent to satisfy you is a separate issue all together your Royal Hine.

The earth is the speck of a speck of a speck. We are powerless. Do I believe in energy conservation? Yes. Do I believe in Man Made Global Warming? No. It will all take care of itself. “We are dead, our only true life is in the future. We shall take part in it with handfulls of dust and splinters of bone” (George Orwell)

  • Henry Ledbetter

AMEN, BEN. There has never been any real evidence for global warming and junk science is literally killing us. For the most part, we have sold our soul for a science that refuses to accept a Creator which could explain how it all began and how it all will end. We have a written revelation called the Bible but I find so few that will accept what it has to say. The Bible is not a science book but what it has to say about the earth, moon, and stars is very factual and will not be disproved. Sad to say, that for the most part a man with a Dremel tool and two skeletons fitted together resulted in what was called “Lucy” is more believed than the One who was the Creator speaking it into being. Dig down on the top of any mountain and you will find marine fossils. A world wide flood would explain how they got there; and if you read Genesis carefully, it might explain why there are an estimated five million elephants frozen in the Siberian tundra with some still having grass in their mouths. The bible and the second law of thermal dynamics go hand in hand as anything that uses energy eventually runs down..

    • Karolyn

I am certainly not a scientist and know nothing about therman dynamics, but I do know that energy itself never stops; and everything is energy. We could have free energy if “they” would allow it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nvqWuGWSD4

      • cawmun cents

Energy itself never stops…..hmm,take a look at the burgeoning new green economy sweetheart, tell me energy itself never stops.

          http://www.one-mind-one-energy.com/energy.html

          • Deerinwater

The word that you are looking for is “transfer”. Manifested energy transfers for one state to another. It can be borrowed, it can be projected, it can be collected, it can be harvested.

So far, mankind has failed to capture 100 % of energy and losses a good 20% or more in unwanted by produces in whatever effort he attempts.

          • John

actually man has gotten better in some of the instances 97% efficiency is not unheard of.

          • Deerinwater

This is true , but only in lavatory condition. Today, practical application has us somewhere at 82 to maybe 90 % at best.

      • DaveH

Free Energy? What’s stopping them, Karolyn?
Only Government has the power of Force.

        • Karolyn

Have you watched the movie, Dave? It’s all in there – how scientists are thwarted and, yes, even eliminated to keep it from becoming available.

          • DaveH

No, Karolyn, I knew it was a propaganda piece when I heard the sweet music and saw the soothing graphics.
But since you watched it, explain to me how any scientists could stop somebody from distributing information or selling products for Free energy without the Force of Government?

          • Karolyn

Dave – I never said scientists could stop anybody from doing anything. It’s the PTBs that are stopping it.

          • DaveH

No, you didn’t, Karolyn. I misread your comment.
No doubt, though, that the PTBs interfere with Free Markets. However, I suspect that the “Thrive” movie’s solution is more of the same Big Government intervention. You would know, if you watched the whole thing.

          • DaveH

I’ll make you a deal, Karolyn. I’ll watch the whole “Thrive” movie if you’ll read the whole “The Left, The Right, and The State” book that I linked to.

          • Karolyn

I would love to. Dave. (even though the movie is only 2 hours; and I’m sure the book will take a bit longer than that) Of course, right now it’s a bit harder to find time to read, since I’m back in school; and I’m also doing some writing; but the book would probably complement my American Government 201 class. I’ll look for the link; but I would assume just having the title will be enough?

          • DaveH
          • Karolyn

Dave – No, big government intervention is not the point of the movie. It’s more about personal responsibility.

        • libertytrain

There are those elements of government and/or business that does and has thwarted the free energy that could have been available. I have no idea what movie Karolyn is talking about but I did read enough about Tesla, and others that were stopped at the pass so to speak,
over the last 25 years or so to certainly wonder about the power’s that be.

          • Karolyn

liberty – It’s “Thrive – The Movie” (referenced above) produced by http://www.thrivemovement.com, and the guy’s name was Nicola Tesla. It’s a full length movie that can be found sometimes on Youtube in parts or can be rented or purchased at the Thrive website. I think you would enjoy it. I lucked out and was able to burn it to a dvd while it was on vimeo. It keeps getting taken down.

          • DaveH

So you think this conspiracy to stop Free Energy exists throughout the world, Karolyn? Not a single country could take advantage of such?

You need to read this book, Karolyn, and wake up to reality:
            http://mises.org/books/leftright.pdf

It’s all about the PTBs striving for more control over the rest of us.

          • Karolyn

Dave – That’s what the movie’s about also.

          • libertytrain

Karolyn – I read about him years ago, and still like to do read about him. There was some great books in the old days that are probably still out there. I’ve always been fascinated by him. He even did some of his experiments in Cripple Creek, CO – I had to go there when I was in Colorado just to see what it was like for him.

          • Karolyn

liberty – I don’t know a whole lot about him, but it is so sad that he got screwed over. So many important people have been over the years. Wasn’t he also kinda loony? It seems that a lot of the great minds of science and the arts have been either psychologically impaired or been addicts and/or alcoholics. They say there’s a fine line between genious and insanity.

          • libertytrain

Karolyn, silly question out of someone like you = loony – I didn’t read him that way. Eccentric. Yep. Ever known any really honest to goodness creative person that wasn’t a little eccentric.

          • meteorlady

Karo – I have a friend in Seattle who has developed electricity through a pyramid of granite, but it’s small and it only puts out a small amount of energy. Tesla’s device would have to be 50 time larger than the one they have built as a model before we could get any proven facts. Tesla was a brilliant mind.

          • libertytrain

yep, some people want to meet movie stars. I want to meet folks like Tesla…

A “theory” is an educated guess. The problem is that after a theory is set up, it must be tested. If there is something found wrong, the theory must be revised … or discarded.

Too many “scientists” have hinged their entire career to some theory, whether they originated it or not. If they admit that the theory is bad, they must start over with something else and they don’t want to for various reasons. One of those reasons is the desire to not admit they were wrong.

A true scientist doesn’t worry about being wrong since many are. They are concerned in finding out the truth, whether it agrees with their theory or not. It is too bad that the media listens only to the “scientists” who keep pushing their bad science.

    • John

You realize don’t you that your statements about scientists goes both ways….pro and con climate change.

      • 45caliber

And that’s because there isn’t enough real scientific data to prove either point. But there is more on the con-global warming side than the pro side. The con side, however, doesn’t have to fake data since what they do discover tends to support their side.

Ben Crystal is right on so-called ‘global warming’ which is based on the premise that burning fossil fuels produces dangerous amounts of CO2.

Water vapor is a better absorber of heat energy, IR, than CO2 by a factor of seven and has 30 to 100 times as many molecules in air that generate 210 to 700 times as much atmospheric heat as CO2. Water vapor does 99.96% to 99.99% of all atmospheric heating. Why should we stop using our best, most convenient, abundant, lowest cost form of energy to quell 0.01% to 0.04% of atmospheric heating? The Medieval Warming period was the happiest in history. 500 years of peace and prosperity. Why is this nonsense happening?

The control and taxing of carbon and carbon dioxide would give the elected ruling class more money and power than anything in history. For them and the 40% of our people wanting more government so they get “benefits” by “taxing the rich” and “spreading the wealth around,” could make it happen!

    • MANNY

EXACTLY, AND THEY ARE WILLFULLY BLIND TO THE FACT.

    • 45caliber

      Dens:

This all really started when Big Al bought up stock in a company that produced expensive equipment to remove CO2 from exhaust stacks. The only problem was that none of the companies would put them in. So Big Al started the global warming scare with the help of the scientists who had been receiving hundred of thousands of dollars a year in tax money to investigate climate control. They want to keep the tax money coming in and Big Al wants to sell the equipment. If he can get the government to require all companies install the equipment, he stands to become the richest man in the world. The other politicians know this and they expect him to donate to their campaign funds if they can get it passed. The only problem is that the stupid voters (you and I) simply don’t believe them.

    Hello,
This man that I like to call Mr. AlBore, I know, I know his actual name is Al Goree, or was that Al Gore. Any how I can see why this nation, and the world is in a “TIZZY”, this fool has brought out a bunch of “voo-doo” scientists to make it look like they know what is happening. Mankind has no possible way to do anything with the weather. There is but one way that weather is made, or CREATED, and I cannot nor will I say anything about anybody here—BUT THIS IS WHAT I FEEL IN MY HEART OF HEARTS. I FEEL THAT GOD IS THE CREATOR OF EARTH, AND IN SUCH HE CONTROLS WHAT HAPPENS ABOUT, AND WITH THE WEATHER ON HIS SAID EARTH.

Your posting is open ended, and can be interpreted as a stab at humor. 43 had a lot of supporter, as you speak of the ones to find out,

  • http://www.personalliberty.com/conservative-politics/the-global-warning-on-global-warming/?eiid=#respond Keith

One thing that always bugged me about this global warning controversy are two facts that can be easily found on the Internet, Wikipedia is a good source:
    1. The sun contains over 99% of all mass in the solar system, in other words Earth and all planets, rocks, dust, gases, etc combined are insignificant when compared to the sun.
    2. Carbon dioxide makes up about 0.039% of the gases in Earth’s atmosphere.
If one suspected that global warming was taking place, would the first primary cause be the sun, instead of something that makes up such small percentage of the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide.

    • DaveH

As Ben said, Keith, it’s all about Power and Money. The environment is just an excuse to achieve that goal.

  • hoser

Those who believe in Global Warming are absolute “IDIOTS!” Especially those who supported Al Gore over the years. We had Global Cooling in the 70″s. If the environment means that much to ya plant some trees……

    • Deerinwater

So perhaps , you can explain rising sea levels on a global scale or the disappearing snow cap on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Or why the US Navy has budgeting dock and pier work to address this “alleged” rising sea levels.

I’ve not looked into it myself personally, but depended on “others” for such information and now you are telling me that they are lying and it’s all BS?

At this point , I question everyone that’s trying to sell me anything, but there is a few things I can see with my own eyes.

From my childhood days on the farm and learning for the likes of my grandfather and many other old seniors now long since gone, mankind should be mindful of how he treats the earth. Mans activites does scar and pollute the earth.

Every foot step that you make “can” leave a permant record of your passing.

Just one rut in the ground can and does start erosion.

The old wagon tracks of the early settlers traveling west in the 1800′s is still visible for space.

The early camel trading trail in the middle east,as they went about trading in frankincense and Muir is still visible for space. This has bee how we have found some of the lost cities that lost since disappeared, covered in the sands of time.

There no need with getting obsessed , ~ but we do need to be mindful.

  • hoser

…..and yes, the SUN does effect weather and the sun is going thru a high-activity cycle.

    • NC

Hoser, will that high activity cycle help the sun get through the man-made smog of Los Angles? Will it help the people breathe better? Can man help man breathe better? That seems to be a problem we can all attend to while we argue just how vast the problem is or will get.

Clean it up just a little at a time! Governments can help with that while God decides whether or not we are wasting his time trying to save his creation!

Why do we throw paper cups in a trash can if the world is going to be destoyed some day? STEWARDSHIP??

    • John

Actually, NOPE the sun is NOT going through an “high” activity cycle. The sun has cycles of activity and low activity lasting 11 years. Although we are at the peak of this cycle, this cycle is a lot lower then the ones we had in the recent past. Some scientists believe that we are on our way to another prolonged minimum of some sorts. We really can’t know for certain because the mechanisms that govern those cycles are not fully understood and there are not enough observations to say conclusive that we are indeed entering a prolonged low cycle. I lol at the hype about solar flares and coronal mass ejections, they can happen at ANY time, but of course more likely during higher sunspot activity..this cycle, being lower in sunspots then all other cycles for the past 100 years also reduces the risk of a flare to happen….but it does not and will not ever reduce the risk of a massive flare at ANY given time that could cause havoc on this planet. if the sun is a large contributing factor to the climate change on this planet…something that can neither be fully proven not disproved at this time simply because we do not have enough data points….we should be in a cooling phase because of the low solar activity right now, low in comparison with the rest of them in recent history….

      • APN

John said: “We really can’t know for certain because the mechanisms that govern those cycles are not fully understood and there are not enough observations to say conclusive that we are indeed entering a prolonged low cycle.”

Yep! That comment is the crux of the matter at hand. The comment on recent history is another key ingredient. Bottom line, science has no definitive CLUE as to just what a “Sun Cycle” really is no more so than their attempt to assert “Global Warming”.

  • Robert Button

I have but 2 disagreements with your article. First Power is and always will the Number one goal of Governments, while Money is more of a pleasant fringe benefit. Secondly, Sun cycles, which you described quite well, are a secondary influence on Earth’s temperatures, the Milankovitch cycle is the primary influence. Then there is a small matter of us being below the last 3000 year average. That explains why the Greeks were able run around in their short skirts, and not freeze their buns off.

  • mark

Crystal writes: “because liberals like Obama recognize the value of fear over reason” Please, this is what this whole website is dedicated to, fear over reason. It is the central focus of the Libertarian cause.

    • Greg

That cause must have been around longer than I thought, because when I was in highschool they were threatening us with another “Ice Age.” So everytime it would snow (and I’m from Chicago), everyone would fall into a panic.

      • John

        I remember those times lol..

      • 45caliber

Just wait. You’ll see it again soon …

    • DaveH

The central focus of Libertarianism, Mark, is Freedom — The Freedom for people to control their own bodies and property.
We believe in voluntary transactions and associations between us and our fellows. We believe that little good comes from the coercive force of Government. History has proven that to be true.

  • David

Ignore Gore….. And think for yourself.
Of course man isn’t the CAUSE, but any rational individual
can’t say we aren’t a factor. Between the gigatons of sequestered carbon we release into the atmosphere every year. Which contributes to warming and ocean acidification. To the gigatons of fertilizer’s and other nutrients we add to stream’s, rivers, lakes and the oceans. To the tons of mercury, arsenic, PCB’s BPA’s and other chemicals we introduce into the environment and into our bodies.

Now does this mean we have to drop everything and change our lives drastically ? No…. It means we should be using common sense. Catching these things that are detrimental to our environment and our health and well being as early as possible.
And doing what we need to and know we should do. Right off the bat

First off I would say we should be fast tracking the switch from oil to algae based bio fuels to run our cars, trucks planes, trains etc. etc….Not only is it carbon neutral. It also can be used to deal with nutrient pollution.

Don’t like what I have to say ? Oh well…. I’m in my mid 50′s.

Where were the factories, cars, businesses when the ice came thundering down across the Nation and formed mountains, lakes and defined rivers? Global warming has been going on since the beginning of time. We are living on a planet that has fire burning beneath our feet. For anyone to promote Global Warming from atomosphere, etc. they should start listening to the many Geologists, Scientists who have joined ranks and have proof that Global Warming is not as Al Gore and his EPA proposes. Al Gore is part of the demoralization of our country. He wants to use scare tactics and he is awarded many bucks from the Federal Government to spit out untruths. His followers are sheep and will listen to anything that might line their pockets with some dimes. Al Gore earns huge bucks from speaking engagements while he keeps demoralizing/scaring the public. The tree huggers and green people just keep thumping away and have the Federal Government in their pocket. They are voters for Obama because he wants to promote fear and intimidation to halt development of this great country. It’s all a scam and I’m surprised that normal people fall for this garbage. I’ve asked the President about our natural resources right here in the United States and never get an answer.

  • An Actual Scientist

Non scientists…telling us we’re all bonkers. LOL Laughable! Denier’s make me wanna puke! The wacked, christian, creationists right are the worst! You idiots jump on AL Gore…he’s only the messenger, nothing more. He’s NOT a scientist and doesn’t claim to be. I’m not gonna tell you to wake up…clearly you’re too stupid to do so. Same old arguments, ALL of which have been refuted time and again. Water vapor this, volcanoes that, climate has changed before, etc, etc, etc. If you understood ANY of the cycles involved in planetary processes, you would realize that most everything works on a feedback loop. Yes, CO2 has been high in the past. That’s NOT the issue! The issue is, it’s higher than it’s ever been and additionally, it’s risen faster over a very short period of time…not millions (or even thousands) of years, but over the last 150 years since the birth of the industrial revolution. Get a clue!

Joy said,”ONE QUESTION for those who think we evolved from apes: If we evolved from apes, how come the apes are no longer evolving into humans??? HMMMMMM? Then another idiot said,”Can’t answer that one, now, can you??? Maybe they realized that they’d made a mistake evolving into such stupid creatures as so many seem to be??? So they stopped their evolution to try to save the planet from us???? I’d like to hear just one evolver answer these questions intelligently ! ! !”

Are you really THAT stupid, unread and uneducated that you don’t understand the processes involved? I’ll answer that…YES YOU ARE! Human evolutionary theory doesn’t say man evolved from monkeys. What it DOES say is human species, of which there have been a number, and apes evolved from a common ancestor…a creature(s) that resembled both in some aspects. The line split and humans and their kind went in one direction and APES (not monkeys) in another…in other words the line diverged creating two separate paths. This is testable and in fact has been done on a number of occasions. Additionally, the fossil evidence strongly favors that scenario…meaning yeah we have clear fossil evidence of those events. Apes CAN’T turn back into humans because they NEVER WERE humans. Get it? So yeah I answered your stupid ass question. Now go back to your bible were you belong. Same goes for the rest of you morons.

    • James

The Bible says Adam was created in 5407 BC. All humans who were here prior to that could not possibly have descended from him. Adamites were a new type of man, not the first humans. Kind begets like kind, that’s all man has ever seen and that’s all man will ever see.

      • An Actual Scientist

HUH? Yeah…I can tell you got all the smarts in your family.

        • James

I believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. It took a few years for me to arrive at that, though. What finally convinced me was the succession of kingdoms that would follow the one Daniel was a captive in. Only God could have known that, the last one was the Roman Empire which split into two kingdoms, and is still with us.
The Bible says Adam was created in 5407 BC, and I believe that. The yellow race can be traced back thousands of years before that, and the black race can be traced back millions of years before that. However, the white race cannot be traced before that, thus, I believe Adam and Eve were the progenitors of the white race only.

          • Karolyn

Where does it give that year in the Bible? Did you arrive at this date on our own?

          • NC

James, the Bible says what 40 or so old English preachers appointed by the gay King James THOUGHT it said! Some words and phrases they argued over for weeks and finally “flipped a coin” as it’s true meaning! You can assume that God caused the coin to land correctly if you choose. Religious beliefs are optional! A different Church(?) on every corner!! All with the “true word of God” and who is to say they are wrong? or right?

          • James

Karolyn, The Bible doesn’t give that year. The Bible’s chronology starts in Genesis 5, at verse 3 it says “Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat…Seth.” Then Seth lived so many years and begat Enos, etc. Genesis 5 takes us from Adam’s creation u to the flood. The first Bible Chronology was compiled by Bishop James Ussher, who was a contemporary of King James, and he dated Adam’s creation in 4004 BC. However, he used the Massoretic Text which had been tampered with, the Septuagint Text gives 5407 BC as Adam’s creation. Ussher’s date appeared in most bibles from 1701 to c. 1900, but when it was learned that there were remains of people much older than 4004 BC Ussher’s date was dropped.

          • James

NC, your ignorance is showing here, the King James Authorized Version (1611) of the Bible, was mostly a copy of earlier versions. The first Bible published in English was in 1534 AD.

Do you believe the earth is round or flat? YOUR science has told us both over the years, correct? Is the earth cooling or warming? YOUR science said in the 70′s that it was cooling but the same science now says it is warming? Which one is it? If both were correct then would you consider this a trend or an anomaly? I though your science was FACTUAL, EXACTING, to the perfection of man. “Man” being the operative word. Why do you have so many in YOUR earthly man made faith(Science) that seem to disagree on how things “Evolved”? Who is correct and who is incorrect?

You can deny GOD(Creation) all you want but it does not disprove GOD’s existence anymore that your junk man made science can prove or disprove “Global Warming”. ….and those are the FACTS, my friend.

The Biblical scripture is mischaracterized by the scientific community. These writings came at a time when huge numbers like billions and trillions or even millions, were too great for men to comprehend. To someone who is simple, and lacks your education, the numbers that science portrays as significant would be mind boggling.
For this reason, the scriptural content is kept simple.
If you try to explain evolution and carbon dating to someone who is not capable of understanding those concepts, you wind up inspiring incredulity. That is why the scripture is and has been kept simple.
It was written circa 1200(therebouts anyhow)BCE.Folks at that time did not have the scientific knowledge we have now,nor were any but the wealthy educated enough to have the understanding we have today of the intent of the writers. The intent is not to scientifically explain the way the earth was created, but to give an account which could be understood by even simple minded people.Your obviously skewed vision comes from the inability to see this fact.
Therefore you find it as silly and childish.
But since you perceive things with a twenty first century mindset, you cannot foresee why the intent is to give an account, not necessarily THE account of creation.
Genesis was written for Hebrews in the intent aforementioned because the Levites had to recount the History often by word rather than actual writings(the turbulence of Jewish history should tell you that they were often made to live in foreign lands with laws expressly forbidding their religion). In our information age this seems odd to you.And of course it would, but you fail to understand that simplicity is necessary to keep the account solid and remaining understandable for everyone. You see yourself as wise in your own belief, but you fail terribly in your inability to imagine what life was like in Biblical times. To change because of new scientific data the scope and size of Genesis,by iterating what you see as the clear explaination of scientic accounts of creation, would make it necessary to ad a dictionary and an encyclopedia to the account of Genesis in the bible.
Further explaination would be necessary pertaining to the differing scientics hypothesis’of scholarly mention. That is a clear representation of what would be necessary for what would have to happen,to relate scientifically to the account in Genesis.
For myself,I kind of like how close the reality of Genesis is in comparison to other ancient texts that revisionists skew to appear similar.Though I must admit that these seem even more incredulous to me than Biblical scripture.
I hope that you will gain a new respect for Hebrew historical account, and that you will look at these types of things more objectively in the future.
          -CC.

          • cawmun cents

I feel that I must eplain to you that I believe Christ died to save me from my sins.
I also believe in the content of Biblical Scripture, and that it was delivered to the authors by the Holy Spirit.
My personal relationship with God through Christ as my savior is not something that can be explained scientifically.
But that does not make it any less real than the science which you claim as your idea of truth.I certainly cannot explain it,I just know it is real.I fervently pray that you will come to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
I will never fight to change your way of thinking, but I do hope you will let me believe in that which I find real, without thinking I am less intelligent than you.
            -CC.

An Actual Scientist, Where do you think the material that makes up the suns and planets of the universe came from?

    • Chris Schilke

      An actual scientist says
Is this really testable: that we split off from a common ancestor with other primates? I’m sure that many people would like to see your proofs. How can you prove this if this is a process that took millions, perhaps billions of years to do? What might apply to a virus or bacterium might not apply to a human or a primate. And by the way, a virus changes but, it’s still a virus and hasn’t become a scientist yet.

And to be so insulting. Your anger only shows how childish you might really be and that you may in fact be wrong. Your anger won’t change anybodies mind.

I was once told that a person convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

By the way, I’m one of those Scripture readers and there isn’t anything in it that says the world began close to six thousand years ago. In fact the first words of the bible “In the beginning” is a miss translation and should read “In a beginning”. And if you know how to read Hebrew you’d find that it says that the world was created and then something happened and turned it into a desolation. I’ll even go one more: the word “created” translated from the Hebrew is more like the word “fashioned” or “shaped”. This could mean anything from “it was created” to “it was molded from something existing.” I know that a lot of Christians will be made about this but, I have the same source for my proof that they have. They can show me, in Hebrew, their proof and I’ll accept it.

The common translations were born from the King James era by people who had an agenda to maintain the status quo, that is to keep ignorant people ignorant. After all, people could barely read their own languages let alone a dead one like Hebrew or Greek so there wasn’t anything to lose by changing a few words here and there to keep the meaning as they wanted it to be. How can an illiterate person dispute what a literate person claims a document says?

My point? The bible really doesn’t say how old the earth is and it could even be a trillion years old as far as it’s concerned.

As for evolution? There are several different types of evolution: from a slow thing to a quick one. There are terms for them and if you are a scientist as you claim, you’ll know what those terms are. It’s only ignorant people who try to apply one term to everything. Something along the line of the word snow. The Inuit(I think this is correct name for the people I’m thinking of) have one hundred words to describe the myriad types of snow that there are. We use one word with word modifiers such as “wet” “dry” and so on to describe different types of snow.

So I believe in evolution but, probably not the brand you prescribe to. I could stand an education and I’m willing to examine what you consider to be evolution that support your own theories. Another thing about theories, they are just that, theories. Everybody has them and it’s what we usually call opinions and everyone knows that somebody else’s opinion isn’t worth a d…. I might be more receptive if you can show me how to duplicate your research. Or you do have a hidden agenda to pursue and just want to mouth off?
Chris Schilke. (I’m not ashamed or afraid for anyone to know my name)

      • John

The difference between a theory and blind faith like religion is that a theory is based on a known set of facts and data points and although it can be wrong, it still has the known facts and data points as a reverence and so a new theory can be formed. A faith or religion is based on emotion, hearsay, and blind following something that can not be proven and lacks facts and data points and thus can not renew itself bases on facts. And please, do not point to historical facts in the bible, history in itself is NOT an explanation or proof for faith or superstition. Believing it is, would mean that we should believe that the gods of Homer are real just because we found the historic sites, places and reverences to living people Homer has woven into his tale.

        • APN

          John,

          Hebrews 11
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Your earthly science and our faith are mutually exclusive. Given that, there is nothing to argue about. Your faith in science concerns the temporary and our faith concerns the permanent. Your science will bring you nothing but our faith will bring us everlasting life with GOD the Father(Creator) who art in Heaven.

The big difference, you attempt to assert your faith in science as superior to our spiritual faith in GOD… i.e.; Apples and Oranges

Our GOD gives us a choice to accept or deny him whereas your science does not, even though YOUR science is not factual or exacting at all.
In fact, YOUR science seems to be a bit confused about Global warming. Your science said in the 70′s that the earth was cooling but now they state it is warming with NO FACTUAL DATA whatsoever to back it up.

You may believe that YOUR science will save both you and the planet however you will find YOUR theories to be very lacking in the end. Look up, not down. For up is everlasting and down is only temporary and the only thing permanent IS change when it comes to GOD’s creation.

Good strong name JOHN. Were your parents Christian?

        • Chris Schilke

You’re right about what a real theory is; that it is based on some kind of observation or an experiment that can be duplicated. As to religion being blind faith? Not everything can be seen, atoms can’t be seen directly, the electricity we use and for the longest time the individual cells of the body couldn’t be seen. Most things that we take for granted today were thought not to exist or that they were in the realm of the supernatural. Many great thinkers were considered heretics. And just because you can’t verify my experiences doesn’t mean that they weren’t real to me. They are as much a reality to me and I’m allowed to postulate theories based on my own data points. And like Edison, who tried thousands of times to make a practical light bulb, one day we’ll be able to confirm that those things we can’t see now are just as real as those things we didn’t understand hundreds or thousands of years ago.
I don’t consider myself to be a great thinker, not at all. But, I believe that one day some of my experiences and theories will be confirmed by methods we don’t currently have at our disposal.
I believe in something that is outside myself, a being if you will, who has good plans and designs for mankind that most aren’t willing to accept just as much as I know there are men who have their fingers on buttons somewhere who could wipe out whole cities if they wanted to. This idea of destroying whole cities with nuclear tipped missiles would be considered a fantasy only a hundred years ago or more. Someone thought of it and did it.
So for now, I can’t prove my experiences to you any more than you can prove evolution, the way most people think of it, to me. You can not do anything but, argue your points in a vain attempt to convince people that you are right with no more than the things written by others. You can’t show me evolution; man and primates originating from a common ancestor. You can find a few bones and say they are our distant ancestors but, you can’t prove it any more than I can prove that there is someone who made all these things.
Besides, what’s a few trillion years to something that has existed forever. If there is such a thing as evolution, maybe he used it to make us? Anything is possible but, maybe not probable.
Lastly, most people that object to the idea of an absolute moral authority, such as god, do so because they wish to justify their amoral behavior on the grounds that anything goes; no final authority no rules. But, everyone is entitled to what they believe or deceive themselves into believing; even me.
          Chris

An Actual Scientist, on the 100th anniversary of Lenin’s birth, (EARTH DAY 1, April, 1970,) I was told in High school that Internal Combustion Engines were filtering out the heat of the sun. Since we did not cease using I.C.E., what happened to the NEW ICE AGE? How much did the Scientists know then? Why is it that global cooling occurred between the 1930′s and the 1970′s, the same time that the use of automobiles and I.C.E.s! You know, I just read a recent issue of “National Geographic” that talked about how the temperature of the world changed, got hotter, how many things died and how new things came along. I don’t buy into all of their drivel but, it brought global warming to mind.

This kind of thing has apparently happened on other occasions and will probably happen again despite what mankind does or doesn’t do. I don’t see a problem with it; anyway the beach will only be a few miles from my home if it happens.

Mankind is adaptable and will have to learn how to live in the water or move. Polar bears and penguins might become extinct but, when the weather changes again and gets colder they’ll be new species to fill the niche.

Anyway, if you believe in the bible or scriptures, nothing that man can dream up or invent will mean much in the end anyway. I don’t believe in the end of the world but, I do in our creator and his plans for mankind. He’s in control.

That doesn’t mean that we don’t have something to do, we all have work to be tending to because the day and time of his visitation hasn’t been publicly disclosed.

And if you don’t believe in these things that’s fine also because it won’t matter after we’re dead and gone…now will it? We still need to be busy doing what we feel is important.

So, Hi ho hi ho it’s off to work I go.

    • James

I think your beliefs are pretty accurate. When the Disciples asked Jesus “What will be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world,” ‘world’ didnt mean the planet, it meant the world system. When Christ returns, He reigns here for a thousand years. Obviously the planet will last at least that long.

The ice age on earth peaked around 14,000 years ago. At that time the Aleutians Islands and North America were covered with glacial ice down to about the Ohio River. Since then, this ice has been gradually melting off, more ice melts in summer than refreezes in winter.
Off the southeast coast of India, the remains of an old temple were found, about 250 ft. below sea level. The walkway between the temple and the mainland had been well traveled, indicating that it and the temple had once been above water on a peninsula of Indiaa.
Off the East coast of South America, there are paved roads leading out to the old Atlantis area.
The land-based glaciers are all shrinking in size, this has been measured on Greenland’s ice and that ice is predicted to disappear in about 40-50 years. Under-water tunnels have been photographed and measured, in Antartica’s ice, that are increasing in size. Thus, that ice is also melting more than it refreezes.
The evidence of global warming is overwhelming, it is a natural phenomina that operates in spurts and sputters. There has been several years where the earth’s ice has increased in the last 14,000 years, but more years when it has decreased. Al Gore’s attempt to blame this on man’s doing, is for political reasons. Maan does cause some warming, but it is miniscule compared to what nature is doing.

James, I like your point. This thawing has been going on for a long time. I don’t see how it will ever be like it was when the poles were like the tropics, due to the land masses that shift air currents and the fact that the earth is tilted on it’s axis but, I’m quite sure that unless the sun’s energy output drops to change things in the other direction, that this thawing will continue. Oh well, I can’t change it either way so I’m not going to worry about it. I’m adaptable and so are you. If you live near the coast: live in a boat or learn to breath water or move. It’s our choice. As for me? I look forward to the beach being closer to home.
      Chris

      • James

According to Revelation 20:1-4, when Christ returns He will reign here for a thousand years. Obviously, that hasn’t happened yet, so I am not worried either. But suns do eventually burn out.

i would also add that the only ice that, upon melting, will add to the depth of oceans is the ice above sea level, such as on Greenland. The ice in the seas and below sea level has already added its volume to the oceans. Galveston, Texas is 8 feet above sea level, and in its entire history that has not changed. When the above seal level ice melts it will only raise ocean depths another few inches at best. We will see more flash flooding though from the more violent storms.

Do you Liberals ever have anything useful to say?

    • conservative scientist

AMEN. I just can’t understand how so many people can be so ignorant that they think global warming has anything to do with being liberal! That’s just an idiotic soundbyte from some looney like Rush or hannity. I, for one, am a conservative from a small-town mid-west family…and have been a registered, voting republican for 26 years. My undergrad is Physics from USNaval Academy, and I have masters degrees in oceanography, meteorology and business. I have never heard anyone with a credible independent background deny global warming, and very few deny the link to man’s actions (although nearly all ackowledge it is not entirely due to man – there’s a natural component as well). But uninformed inflammatory articles such as the one posted here are a dis-service to our nation, and indicate to me that the author has no knowledge, credibility or experience in this area. Climate has nothing to do with politics…no matter how hard both sides try to spin it to their advantage!

      • APN

So why did government paid scientists have a need to jimmy the data to support a predetermined conclusion?

I have heard that there is climate change happening on all the planets in our solar system. I believe this was said by NASA and I saw photos showing the differences in the planets. So climate change is a solar system thing NOT an earth thing. I saw this on the “2012 Enigma” video series on youtube.

I saw a NASA publication saying that the polar ice is melting on Mars because of global warming….strange I did not know that we had factories on Mars…ohh wait, it must be that darn CO2 output of the mars rover causing global warming on Mars…quick hang the NASA scientists.

The Carbon Trap is the first ecopolitical thriller that has describes what happens when mankind’s attempts to reduce CO2 goes awry. It just went on sale last week on Amazon, B&N, and Smashwords, and it isn’t kind to Agenda 21 financiers and other progressives who try to use global warming to seize power. It’s the first book in The Carbon Series. Go to rainforestpress dot com to read more.

Global warming or not, the whole world should be looking at alternate fuels that don’t pollute if spilled. That way if burning fuels is contributing to warming we would at least be trying to do our part. But I see no need for all the rhetoric about cap and trade, that is just a money maker for a few elite.

We are going to slowly poison ourselves if we continue burning fossil fuels. Maybe natural gas is not a big offender but the other oily stuff IS. It puts pollution into the air we breathe and eventually makes its way into the water we drink. We depend heavily on animals for food. Animals eat the crops, the poison becomes concentrated in their flesh, then we eat the concentrated toxins. If we poison the animals and the food we eat, we poison ourselves.

There are several reputable entities studying the viability of using fuel that is made from vegetable products, soy, jatropha to name a couple. The stuff doesn’t pollute if spilled because it is vegetable based. If a truck full of it tips over you might have one huge slippery spot on the road, but it won’t poison anything. A burst pipeline could make a gooey mess but it won’t poison anyone.

MIT and Valcent industries are two I have researched. They grow alga (GASP, yes pond scum) in clear bags that hang in a greenhouse. Water circulates continuously so the alga is in constant exposure to the sun. With full sunlight it can DOUBLE its volume in four hours. Squeeze out the vegetable oil and it can be used as fuel for home heating, jet planes, diesel engines, etc., and it can be refined as gasoline. The alga and 95% of the water get reintroduced to the system so there is very little water consumed in the process. The beauty of this is that once up and running that system could sustain production from its own fuel because the major source of the energy is from the sun. All of the fittings can be purchased at large lumber yards. Except for the greenhouse and the bags, nothing is special equipment, all standard items.

The CEO of Valcent insists that the land mass of New Mexico could produce enough fuel to supply the entire US, with fuel left over for export. Another big factor is that the fuel while in storage has a lot of CO2 locked up in it. That CO2 did not come from under the ground, it is CO2 that WAS in the air. It will be released when burned but that will not be NEW CO2 from underground, it is merely recycled.

Big oil might not like being out of the loop but it would not be totally eliminated. Their storage tanks will still be needed and their supply system as well as the fueling stations. Big oil would NOT need to spend a fortune exploring and drilling and maintaining all that equipment. They WOULD be cut out of the pricing system so that would cause a few heads to explode but at least we could cease poisoning our air and water and still have all the transportation we have come to expect and need.

This is not hard to figure out, the more units produced into the world, the more expansion on the land, with high rises and concrete jungles, and you wonder why you have 80+- degree temps in Oct,Nov.fall and winter are getting shorter and summer gives unrelenting HEAT……

    • John

In 1815 the Tambora volcano erupted with an energy equivalent of 3 times the combined human energy consumption per year. It caused 2 years of cold temperatures world wide and crop failure. About 8 times the CO2 and other gas output humans produced since the start of the industrial revolution was released during this one event…and the earth cooled because of the dust and dirt. Humanities energy output and pollution are puny and insignificant against even a single one of natures events. All this is about is control…the control of the individual, of society and of populations.

      Jay:

Al Franks has come up with the idea that you do not own your own carbon credits if you owe a mortgage. He has patented this idea supposedly. Instead, the bank that holds the mortgage owns it – and can lump it together with other carbon credits from other mortgages to sell. Franks will then get a “commission” since he patented this idea. So he stands to become quite rich without doing a thing if they can simply get this thing through Congress…

And since you require carbon credits to live, you must then buy what carbon credits you should have in addition to buying the property you already are trying to buy. They can get you going and coming.

Nope they don’t because if it gets to that point I move…this planet is not all into the UN’s pocket and many countries just point the middle finger on the UN..I will find a place to live out my life in freedom and tranquility…And the people who stick around and put up with the crap get every little bid they deserve.

  • Jay

“There is no ‘scientific consensus’ that global warming will cause damaging climate change. Claims that there is mischaracterize the scientific research of bodies like the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS).”

Also, you need to be careful that the numbers and studies you read about aren’t being blatantly exaggerated or misquoted: “The news that Oxford University has found that temperatures may increase by up to 11°C severely misrepresents the scientific findings. According to the actual scientific paper, the frequency distribution of the results suggests that the lower end of temperature rises, in the 2°C to 4°C range, is the most likely.”

One of the greatest arguments against global warming is that our politicians are proposing and implementing plans where there are countries exempt from so-called “solutions”: “The Kyoto Protocol, most observers agree, will have virtually no effect on temperature increase, as it imposes no restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions upon major developing nations like China and India. These nations have publicly refused to accept any restrictions now or in the future.”

As we’ll see in some of the arguments against global warming below, this whole thing may be more about money and control than it is about any environmental dangers.

ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: STEALING WEALTH?
We suggest you read another of the arguments against global warming that’s expressed on the American Policy Center website.

In this particular article, the issue of not including some countries in the Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol is addressed as well as giving us insight into why global warming has been fabricated by the United Nations (What is the United Nations?).

“Undeveloped Third-World nations will be free to produce whatever they want. These will include China, India, Brazil and Mexico. And guess what? 82% of the projected emissions growth in coming years is from these countries. Now ask yourself, if the Climate Change Protocol is all about protecting the environment – then how come it doesn’t cover everybody?

“The truth, of course, is that the treaty is really about redistribution of the wealth. The wealth of the United States is and has always been the target. The new scheme to grab the loot is through environmental scare tactics.”

ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: COMPUTERS FLAWED
In another of the arguments against global warming, the Global Warming {email address removed} calls into question the computer programs that the United Nations use for most of its conclusions:

“While computer climate models may eventually be able to predict future climate change, so far the ones we have are very unreliable – unable even to accurately predict current climate conditions using current climate data. It will be some time before computer models will be able to reliably predict future climate change. Meanwhile, policy-makers like the United Nations and the Clinton/Gore Administration contend that we do not have time to wait.”

“Right now I do not have confidence that changes in sea ice and clouds are done correctly in climate models. The annual cycle is not correct in many models, so why should it be correct in climate change [projections]?” – Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.

Aside from computer programs that can’t accurately predict global warming, another of the arguments against global warming is that many of the scientists that purport that the problem exists do so for financial gain. “And then there are those who yearn for a certain outcome and set about creating the needed data to make it so. Usually you will find this group of scientists greatly dependent on grants supplied by those with a specific political agenda who demand desired outcomes for their money.” – quoted from American Policy Center article

It’s interesting to note that much of NASA’s shuttle funding is justified by “earth-directed environmental research” rather than space exploration.

Duh – there’s sources everywhere that prove that…like satelite pics…check the progression over the last 20 years – it is VERY dramatic and leaves zero doubt. But if that’s not enough, there are well documented sea ice changes, countries vying for trade routes through open water that wasn’t open a few years ago. Our government – DoD and USCG are certainly very interested. So, by the way are Russia and Canada…and the native eskimos whose lives are threatened by the changes.

Get the Solar Facts before getting on the “Humans Cause Global Warming” (AGW) band wagon.

Planetary warming has also been observed on Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and on Neptune’s largest moon Triton during the decades following the peak of the “Solar Grand Maximum” – wonder why – there are no humans there! And Pluto is moving further from the sun in its orbit, thus it should be cooling, but instead it is warming.

This is but one indicator that suggests that the climate change on Earth is due to solar changes and our intersellar environment rather than mere human antics. More importantly, the Sun is now changing from its Solar Grand Maximum to its Solar Grand Minimum. The Earth heats up after a Solar Grand Maximum, lagging a bit after the peak. With a Solar Grand Minimum now on its way, a “global cooling” may be on the horizon–a natural oscillation occurring in much longer solar cycles.

Latest science reveals that sharp increases in global warming “precede” sharp increases in CO2–not the other way around. Global warming causes more CO2 to be released from the oceans. Current research also shows that Earth’s oceans are now beginning to cool.

It is also now clear that temperatures over the last century correlate far better with cycles in oceans than they do with carbon dioxide; and, the temperature cycles in oceans are caused by cycles of the sun. Yet the AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming) advocates, as well as the media, continue to ignore all of this, perpetuating fear and advocating spending billions of dollars on non-solutions for global warming.

Although humans contribute to greenhouse gases, the overall effect is a tiny fraction compared to natural causes. To say humans are the cause of global warming; and to also make predictions that global warming will continue to increase is simply inaccurate.

This is not to ignore the silver lining of the global warming scare, as humanity must certainly learn to participate in harmony with nature, with the breath of the Earth, with her land and oceans; and with the cycles of the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars. So let us act and change from knowledge about what is really going on rather than from misinformation fueled by mass-hysteria.

The “Solar Grand Maximum” has ended – a science most often not considered by the advocates who profess that Global Warming is caused by man-made CO2″ — those who perpetuate the global warming media scare.

          • An Actual Scientist

APN…blah blah blah. Where’s YOUR research or research from ANY of you? All you can provide are useless articles like this one, sites with no actual science involved or industry supported think tanks. Mostly I see loud mouths with no science training here. You’re very much like mushrooms. You thrive in the dark and you’re fed crap from Fox and Friends and Rush Limbaugh. Again…you ALL use the same old arguments over and over! ALL of your uninformed, ignorant comments have been disproved many times over.

Now, for those of you that like to say that something or the other is just a theory…you have no concept of what that even means much less understand it. So I’ll enlighten you, if that’s even possible, about the word “theory” as it applies to the Scientific Method. In science, a theory is not a guess, not a hunch. It’s a well-substantiated, well-supported, well-documented explanation for our observations. It ties together all the facts about something, providing an explanation that fits all the observations and can be used to make predictions. In science, theory is the ultimate goal, the explanation. It’s as close to proven as anything in science can be. Understand? (snicker:yeah SURE ya do)

I could give you a list that shows that practically EVERY scientific organization on the planet agrees with the anthropogenic warming scenario (do you even know what that means). But it wouldn’t matter. I could provide you with citations from hundreds of peer reviewed papers but it wouldn’t matter. Most of you couldn’t get past the titles with your limited understanding of the concepts involved. So…I’ll just sit back and watch with amusement while you attempt to batter me. You can dish it out, but clearly you can’t take it. You don’t mind trolling your useless information and logic on sites that support man made climate change. How does it feel to get it back on your own turf? Me angry? HA! I watched as most of you spew out venom and insults over and over to people like me, so who’s really angry here? All I’ve done is just respond to the ASS’s I see here. I’m not attempting to try and change your minds, you don’t have one.

            ___________________________________________________________________

So which dataset will you send me? The actual dataset or the one that your politically motivated peer group modified to meet a predetermined conclusion? Isn’t that a well-substantiated, well supported and well-documented fact of YOUR science? Remember the E-mail discovery?

You assert in your comments that, “In science, a theory is not a guess, not a hunch. It’s a well-substantiated, well-supported, well-documented explanation for our observations. It ties together all the facts about something, providing an explanation that fits all the observations and can be used to make predictions.”

If that were the case concerning Global Warming, then how did your well-supported, well-substantiated and well-documented observations lead you to a non-factual conclusion about Global Cooling in the 70′s?

Given your proven record of error over the past 4-5 decades, then please explain to us simple minded folks what changes you have implemented in the methodologies used in formulating YOUR “Theories”.

The fact is Mr. Science man, the only thing that has changed in your field since the 70′s has been mandated by Government forces.

“Politically Motivated Junk Science” The science of predetermined conclusions to move forward a political agenda.

I mean let’s face the FACTS here, as you assert them, you have NO CLUE if the planet is in a warming or cooling cycle. You also have NO CLUE if the planet will be 1 degree warming or 1 degree cooler next year, 10 years, 100 years or 1,000 years from this very moment.

Seems to be a large hole in your scientific theory.

GOD’s creation can be frustrating for those who buy into all these man made “Theories”. Bottom line, science was wrong about the prediction of a New Ice Age in the 70′s and you STILL have NO CLUE now as to what tomorrow will bring.

GOD does, you do not and never will.

APN – I read your reply to “an actual scientist” (below)…and you made his point…just by saying incredibly ignorant things like asking if he would provide the “actual data set” – and so many more. The sad thing is – although he was extremely arrogant – he was absolutely correct.

So which “data” set do you want? sea surface temps? current patterns? or perhaps you’d like to understand the decadal variability of the thermohaline layer …but in which sea? (Beaufort? Bering? Chukchi? a Russian sea? …Naturally these data sets would only be useful near the poles – thermocline sets would be sufficient elsewhere). or do you want to see data on weather patterns? on a synoptic scale, mesoscale, regional, or local? which models? what physics algoriths should drive the air/sea interface of the “actual data” you want to see? in the atmosphere, are you interested in the stratosphere? troposphere? below the friction layer? do you want related cloud data – if so, over the oceans or land masses? and for what types of clouds? stratocu? and how about the effects of humidity, or solar radiation absorption rates over various surfaces (urban, desert, ocean, woodlands…). Exactly WHICH “actual data” set do you want? and how are you going to come to any meaningful conclusion with only one data set…when there are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS available to cross reference, read about, and compare to. Maybe you should take up science before you display your ignorance

Thank you for confirming my comments. Your aforesaid outline involves about 1/sextillionth of the total equation needed to confirm or deny YOUR SCIENTIFIC CLAIMS of GW.

In 20 years from now, based upon your data models that have been skewed to meet a predetermined conclusion, through political motivations, will be no more accurate than those made in the 70′s.

Continue to take your measurements over the next couple thousand years and see if you can predict GW then. Be sure you weight in other unknown factors such as the PROF becoming active or some other ELE.

Try selling this nonsense to someone who doesn’t have a brain. I laughed at this foolishness in the 70′s and have lived long enough to PROVE why I did at the time.

You “Scientist” don’t have a clue what tomorrow will bring much less 20, 200 or 2,000,000 years from now. GOD does, you do not, and you never will.

The permafrost of the East Siberian Arctic Shelf (an area of about 2 million kilometers squared) is more porous than previously thought. The ocean on top of it and the heat from the mantle below it warm it and make it perforated like Swiss cheese. This allows methane gas stored under it under pressure to burst into the atmosphere. The amount leaking from this locale is comparable to all the methane from the rest of the world’s oceans put together. Methane is a greenhouse gas more than 30 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Well Harry, Let’s ASSUME that your aforesaid “facts” are correct. Do you actually think that YOUR man made science will support a major environmental change due to GW within the next 20 years, on a planetary scale?

Harry said: “Within 20 years, climate change deniers will be regarded as having committed one of the biggest crimes against humanity in history. Are you sure you want to be in that number?”

That statement in itself is the FOUNDATION of this politically motivated junk science.

Nobody denies climate change my friend. It is a continual process of change. We live on a dynamic planet not a static planet. It is a Globe that rotates on an axis with a magma core. We have a moon that is 240,000 miles away from the earth and a sun that is 93 million miles away from the earth. Both the moon and the sun have powerful influences over the dynamic change occurring every nano-second on planet earth. Humans DO NOT have the power to dynamically change planet earth within your aforesaid time slice. If your statement were factual, then we would already be EXTINCT. Further more, if your statements were factual, then it is already to late to bend the curve from t-total destruction.

Neither you or any other human being on this planet understands what tomorrow will bring much less 20 years from now or a 1,000 years from now.

GW is nothing more than a political agenda trying to be sold on the basis of science fiction.

Get back to me in 20 years and we can MEASURE your claims then. We can then measure your “Theories” accuracy as compared to those like you in the 70′s that stated we would enter a New Ice Age by the turn of the century.

Thinking something is so will not make it so, no matter how badly you you want it!! Man up (or woman up) and admit that you fell for the high dollar hoax that is Global Warming. CO2 is warming up our planet? Do your homework idiot. CO2 levels are at an all time low. Oh, and here’s a curious tidbit for you, plant life seems to favor CO2! Weird, huh? If you bothered to do your OWN homework, you would know these crazy little, global warming destroying little factoids. The latest disinfo is that, get this, the SUN doesn’t effect our weather! I realize that Al Gore and all of his fellow hoaxsters have invested Billions of dollars on this fiction, and perhaps this is why they are so desperately trying to salvage something, anything. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!

Half truths is what we have here. The solar output has been on a gradual decline for the past several years. How do we explain that global temperatures continue to rise. The same Met Office that is cited in this rant just recently released it’s figures for global temperature last year. 2011 was 0.36 C above the running 30 year average. They’re predicting this year’s figure to be somewhere near 0.8 C above the average. In addition, new polar sea lanes are being established and isn’t it telling that sums of money are being invested (presumably by right-leaning venture capitalists) to build shipping ports on the Arctic coast of Siberia. Also, doesn’t it seem odd that sea level continues to rise and most glaciers continue to retreat without letup? About the only effect of the sun’s output decreasing to levels of the Dalton minimum is to shave off 0.1 C or so off the rate of temperature increase for the next several years. A fairly insignificant amount when you compare it to the figures just thrown about. By the way, those global models mentioned in this article have been notoriously conservative in their predictions of warming. When compared to the observed temperatures these models almost always underestimate their picture of future trends. These same models have done a fairly good job in predicting areas of increased, decreased, and more highly variable precipitation. Again, their common shortcoming is with regards to the magnitude. They often fall short on the degree of change.
I don’t know what planet Ben Crystal and all others who deny climate change are living on (or which one they came from) but the evidence clearly shows that we are in a period of accelerating warming in spite of a slightly diminished solar output. That makes it even more scary.

NASA: Warming driven by humans, not sun

A new NASA study shows that even during a time of minimal energy from the sun, planet Earth continued to retain more solar radiation than it emitted back into space

It’s a powerful addition to an already strong body of evidence pointing to human greenhouse-gas emissions as the main driver of global warming.

Researchers led by James Hansen, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, used data from thousands of free-floating instruments scattered across Earth’s oceans to make some of the most precise calculations to date of the planet’s “energy imbalance.”
The total amount of energy from the sun that strikes the top of the Earth’s atmosphere measurably declines during the “solar minimum,” a cyclical drop in solar activity, occuring about every 11 years, that is caused by shifts in the sun’s magnetic field.

Between 2005 and 2010, the solar minimum, typically lasting no more than year, continued for two years longer than normal — the longest solar minimum to be seen since the advent of orbital satellites.
But Earth, the NASA team showed, held on to more energy than it released during the six-year period — in fact, half a watt more per square meter of the top of the atmosphere.

The imbalance, 0.58 watts per square meter, is more than twice the 0.25-watt reduction in energy that is the difference between solar minimum and solar maximum.

Some climate-change critics contend that the sharp upward trend in global average temperature over decades is due to solar activity, not to the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which help prevent heat from solar energy from escaping.

If so, some guessed, temperatures might drop during an extended solar minimum.

But in a statement released by NASA, Hansen said the new finding “provides unequivocal evidence that the sun is not the dominant driver of global warming.”

“The extended solar minimum is keeping the sun at a low level,” said UC Irvine Professor Michael Prather, a specialist in climate-modeling who was not involved in Hansen’s study. “Without having that burst of warmth, we’re still pumping heat into the ocean at the rate we were before. The temperature is not suddenly dropping.”

The new assessment of the energy imbalance is a bit lower than earlier estimates, which might mean adjustments will be needed for computer models of climate, NASA said.

It suggests that most models could be overestimating the mixing of heat into the oceans, and underestimating the effects of tiny particles known as aerosols, which can sometimes help cool the atmosphere.

The study was published last month in Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, an open-access science journal.

        and who pays NASA?

  • Tom W.

God give us a beautiful home! There are spots on this planet that are simply breath taking!!! Coincidentally, most of them just happen to be untouched by man! God put us here to be good stewards of this planet. I’m all for energy guys, but why do we have to be so wreckless in how we extract it?!! Look at the oil spill in the Gulf, they showed us all these animations of how safe an operation this was, but according to a recent documentary, it came close to wiping out the entire Gulf Coast! Why can’t we pipe Canadian oil down to the Gulf, and do it in a safe and efficient way?!! Let’s take this project on, but let’s do it with our eyes not on the almighty dollar but on the good of humanity!!! People before profits! Why can’t we do that? We’re America and we’re the world, we can do it!!!
OK, I’ll climb down off of my soap box now! I’m just a nobody and by no means do I even pretend to have the answers, but I know that we can and must do better!!! I’ll leave you with this, I believe that it’s one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I’ve ever read, even if as some say that it isn’t genuine but a piece of art written by a play write:

Some of our most influential roots are the original cultures of this land. The following letter, sent by Chief Seattle of the Dwamish Tribe in Washington to President Pierce in 1855, illustrates the dignity, wisdom, and continuing relevance of this native continental vision.

THE GREAT CHIEF in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. The Great Chief also sends us words of friendship and good will. This is kind of him, since we know he has little need of our friendship in return. But we will consider your offer, for we know if we do not so the white man may come with guns and take our land. What Chief Seattle says you can count on as truly as our white brothers can count on the return of the seasons. My words are like the stars – they do not set.

How can you buy or sell the sky – the warmth of the land? The idea is strange to us. Yet we do not own the freshness of the air or the sparkle of the water. How can you buy them from us? We will decide in our time. Every part of this earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every clearing, and every humming insect is holy in the memory and experience of my people.

We know that the white man does not understand our ways. One portion of land is the same to him as the next, for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs. The earth is not his brother, but his enemy, and when he has conquered it, he moves on. He leaves his father’s graves and his children’s birthright is forgotten. The sight of your cities pains the eyes of the redman. But perhaps it is because the redman is a savage and does not understand.

There is no quiet place in the white man’s cities. No place to listen to the leaves of spring or the rustle of insect wings. But perhaps because I am a savage and do not understand – the clatter only seems to insult the ears. And what is there to life if a man cannot hear the lovely cry of the whippoorwill or the arguments of the frogs around a pond at night? The Indian prefers the soft sound of the wind itself cleansed by a mid-day rain, or scented by a pinõn pine: The air is precious to the redman. For all things share the same breath – the beasts, the trees, and the man. The white man does not seem to notice the air he breathes. Like a man dying for many days, he is numb to the stench.

If I decide to accept, I will make one condition. The white man must treat the beasts of this land as his brothers. I am a savage and I do not understand any other way. I have seen thousands of rotting buffaloes on the prairie left by the white man who shot them from a passing train. I am a savage and do not understand how the smoking iron horse can be more important than the buffalo that we kill only to stay alive. What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beast also happens to the man.

All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the sons of the earth.

Our children have seen their fathers humbled in defeat. Our warriors have felt shame. And after defeat they turn their days in idleness and contaminate their bodies with sweet food and strong drink. It matters little where we pass the rest of our days – they are not many. A few more hours, a few more winters, and none of the children of the great tribes that once lived on this earth, or that roamed in small bands in the woods will remain to mourn the graves of the people once as powerful and hopeful as yours.

One thing we know that the white man may one day discover. Our God is the same God. You may think that you own him as you wish to own our land, but you cannot. He is the Body of man, and his compassion is equal for the redman and the white. This earth is precious to him, and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its Creator. The whites, too, shall pass – perhaps sooner than other tribes. Continue to contaminate your bed, and you will one night suffocate in your own waste. When the buffalo are all slaughtered, the wild horses all tamed, the secret corners of the forest heavy with the scent of many men, and the view of the ripe hills blotted by the talking wires, where is the thicket? Gone. Where is the eagle? Gone. And what is it to say goodbye to the swift and the hunt? The end of living and the beginning of survival.

We might understand if we knew what it was the white man dreams, what hopes he describes to his children on long winter nights, what visions he burns into their minds, so they will wish for tomorrow. But we are savages. The white man’s dreams are hidden from us. And because they are hidden, we will go our own way. If we agree, it will be to secure your reservation you have promised.

There perhaps we may live out our brief days as we wish. When the last redman has vanished from the earth, and the memory is only the shadow of a cloud passing over the prairie, these shores and forests will still hold the spirits of my people, for they love this earth as the newborn loves its mother’s heartbeat. If we sell you our land, love it as we have loved it. Care for it as we have cared for it. Hold in your memory the way the land is as you take it. And with all your strength, with all your might, and with all your heart – preserve it for your children, and love it as God loves us all. One thing we know – our God is the same. This earth is precious to him. Even the white man cannot escape the common destiny.

thank you for reporting that famous and meaningful quote – it’s been a while since I read it

  • The Wolf

Well folks after reading a lot of the post.I believe we are in Global stupidity and that is what we need to worry about.will someone tell me how and where did Al Gore get so smart on anything.poor old Tripper said Al I have had it with your stupid crap I am out of hear and folks she is not playing with a full deck either.

    • Tom W.

Hey Wolf, you’re not just coming to that conclusion are you?!! Just think, this mental heavyweight was almost our president! How scary is that?!!

      • NC

Tom,you said it was scary that we came close to electing Al Gore President. How would you describe what we got from George W. Bush in his stead? Considering the state of the union on the day Obama took office!

  • Marty S.

Just wait until they round up all these lab-coats and force them to agree with the warming theory or else. It is all part of a grander scheme for world domination and control. Very disgusting indeed.

    • Tom W.

Marty I truly believe that God is going to step in and throw a wrench into their little plans! He surely does work in strange and mysterios ways!!! Read the book of Ester, and see how He dealt with Haman! I know how sick and twisted these overeducated selfidolizing idiots are, but as Psalm two so eloquently says:

      Psalm 2 (KJV)

1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.

5Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

10Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Yep, Hitler did it in the 30-40′s.

  • conservative scientist

It is so sad that there are so-called conservatives who have bought in to misinformation about real science, that is manipulated via corporate or political entities – with little to no knowledge or understanding of the science.

But Tom W’s post reminds us that there’s a bit of God-given nature in each of us – hopefully folks will reach to that, and find some natural instinct along with a remnant of common sense, and remember the dependence on His creation that we ought not forget. And it may change naturally, and will change more due to man’s actions…but denying the truth of what is happening serves no good to anyone except some politician/talking-head/corporate profiters.

    • cawmun cents

      I may not have degrees.
I may not be as smart as you.
I may not even understand what global warming is about.
But I have been given a good male bovine fecal tissue detector.
It is telling me that something is wrong here.
It is telling me that there are folks who err in their judgement of how much power they hold here on this blue marble.
      They float on its oceans.
      They fly in its skies.
They believe like gods(false gods)that they are able to effect an outcome in its atmosphere. To a cartain extent…that is true.
However, their arrogance is only exceeded by their inability to understand that the power that does effect the outcome.will not be supplanted by them.It will not come from them, but from a source that men have tried to make themselves like for eons.
But the real arrogance is thinking you can slow down what that power is doing to effect the outcome.Au Contraire Mon Ami.You cannot slow what that power has started, nor can you save your world from destruction by your own doings.
You can only save it by turning to that power for help.
Unfortunately, your brashness keeps you from doing so.
Your mind thinks of solutions to problems like in a mathematics equation, but the conditions remain the same because you have left out other factors. But you forge forward, believing with near certainty that you can fix the problems. But since you are patently unaware of all of the conditions causing the problems, you cannot hope to fix them. You didnt take the worst case scenario into consideration.
So when it comes back to haunt you,you will flail about like every other world citizen, conservative or liberal, and lament the fact that you thought you were in charge.
The world and politics, have alot more in common than you observe,so you cannot understand what I,as the non-degree holding wretch I am, have just stated.I would like to think that you will eventually come around to see what I am saying is true and honest, but I know that someone has been puposefully msleading you.
So the not smart, not educated, not arrogant, not world saving, simpleton(that would be me)still may understand a line of male bovine fecal matter when he hears it.
Is that to the detriment of the world?
      Only time will tell.
      Cheers!

The laws of thermodynamics say: 1) there is no free lunch; and 2) in the end we are all going to freeze to death. As history reports, global cooling and global warming cycle on. However before the late lamented (by some)warming cycle reversal, “peddling the cycle” made money for some.

Please consider now the hilarious fight against global cooling. All we have to do to fight global cooling, is to cut down all the trees and drive our cars like hell.

The whole idea of global warming is a pretense to make money for the wealthiest people in this world. The rich actually steal from the rest of the world, by making things up and exploiting the masses uncertainty or fear. Look back in historical times and make note of the warming and cooling cycles of the planet, and pay close attention to the times when man was not even in existence!!!

Conservative Scientist…Yep I AM an arrogant SOB! Proud of it! We’ve been silent for far too long. Our silence has made the general population skeptical of our intentions and data. We watched and let right wing fanatics and bought scientists spread rumors and trash science. We watched and let energy conglomerates and their huge PR machines and VAST amounts of money spread half truths and out right lies because the real facts threaten their very existence. We watched as conservative think tanks and administrations attack environmental laws and programs. We’ve done nothing but keep our noses in the research and turned a blind eye. It’s time to take a stand! People like APN, that read a few articles on Internet (that’s right…Internet, NOT “the internet”) become instant experts on all things science…probably everything else as well. They couldn’t read an actual data set, much less be able to statistically put the data together to formulate any meaningful inferences from it. They don’t know what SAS, Stata or SPSS are, though I’m sure one will look them up to see then claim they know all about them. They wouldn’t know or understand what the difference is between categorical, ordinal and interval variables…in short, they wouldn’t comprehend ANY of it. We need to make the data easy to read and interpret for the general public because, quite frankly, the average American understands information on the Flesch–Kincaid Grade Level scale somewhere around the 5th grade. Europeans fair a little better. This makes them easy to lead by power brokers and money mongers. Most scientists, including myself, make very little money for an often thankless job. We don’t seek prestige for the most part but do try to attain affirmation for our endeavors. Are there quacks and cheaters? DUH! Name one profession that doesn’t! That’s why all real research is peer reviewed. Do we get things wrong? Sometimes. The majority of the time? Definitely NOT. When a broad consensus believes something is essentially correct, it generally is. We have that consensus, unlike these clowns, and I’m comfortable promoting it. I’m done with this thread.

$100 bucks says the annual median temp in my location will be the same in 2032….unless ofcourse, we have some catastrophic event like the PROF becoming active or some other ELE. Which by the way, is controlled by GOD, not men.

      You want a bet?

The genius of GOD’s creation can be a very frustrating subject, from an earthly mindset that is.

        • APN

…only time will tell Mr. Science man, unless you are omniscient, which obviously your aren’t, and that is it itself, is the crux of the matter.

Your arrogance reminds of those scientists back during Hitler’s time and we all know the outcome of that one.

          • An Actual Scientist

You really ARE a moron! Hitler and his whacked out crew were mostly Catholics…in Hitler’s case he was half Jew and half Catholic. Now you’re gonna tell us you’re a history expert too? Amazing! You get dumber by the post.

          • APN

Hitler was a sociopath and between him and his “Scientists” were responsible for the deaths of MILLIONS.

Your arrogance and comments appears to fall in the category of a sociopath, now that I think about it.

They have a “scientific test” for this disorder if you want to take it:

            1.) Glibness and Superficial Charm
            2.) Manipulative and Conning
3.) They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.
            4.) Grandiose Sense of Self
5.) Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”
            6.) Pathological Lying
Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

7.) Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt
A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

            8.) Irresponsibility/Unreliability
Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

9.)Paranoid ……Now that one is very revealing.

            10.)Extreme narcissism and grandiose

The list goes on but I think that covers some of the highlights.

….and yes, I do accept the bet, not that I will still be here in 20 yrs(Not due to GW), however, you can pay my grandkids the 100 bucks as they play out in the sunshine with a median temp same as their grandad did at the very same age.

I don’t know how I got subscribed to this site. I will be deleting all the junk from it and unsubscribing. All I can say is, the temperature should not be in the 60′s and 70′s in January where I live. And I know full well what God said about cleansing the earth. Man also has free will and the Good Lord knew exactly what we would do with it. Yeah, God will take care of it. Let’s just say your parents gave you a pony, you didn’t take care of it and it was dying. Oh well, they’ll just take it to the vet and make it all better. Does that make it ok that you didn’t take care of it in the first place? I know you can’t spew chemicals into the atmosphere and land and claim it is not a contributor to the destruction of the planet.

    • APN

Man does not now, nor has he ever had or ever will have the POWER to destroy this planet. GOD does, we do not.

That does not mean we should not take care of the garden HE so freely gave us. We should always strive to be good stewards of OUR planet. Notice I did not say THEIR planet, as in, those self-appointed gods of the planets who jimmy their politically motivated science to meet a predetermined conclusion.

Sure, we can poison ourselves but we cannot destroy the planet. We all advocate cleaner air and water but we do not advocate the loss of freedom based upon politically motivated JUNK SCIENCE.

The entire concept of “Global Warming” is wrapped around CAP and TRADE, or better put, CAP AND TAX. In fact, if the proposed legislation had been passed into law, folks like AG would have become instant BILLIONAIRES. Then he could have 10 Jets to fly over we commoners as he laughs his arse off at the stupidity of mankind.

Bottom line, we all understand CLIMATE CHANGE, it is inevitable given the Creators design. No man on this planet can predict it and science has proved my statements numerous times over history.

  • An Actual Scientist

APN…you definitely know how to copy and paste! I’ll give ya that. But really now, can’t we all just get along? Al Gore was already rich. There were people sounding the “global climate change” alarm LONG before cap and trade was ever thought of. BTW, ever heard of a little place called Easter Island? Those people thought their gods would take care of them and their world too. Didn’t work out. Oh, but of course they had several gods so that’s why it happened. The real god punished them. Never mind that they squandered, then destroyed their resources all on their own accord. On a smaller scale, they destroyed their world and YOU have the arrogance to say that it can’t happen on a global one when the population is over 7 billion and continuing to grow!? Really? I’ll agree with you on one thing though, the planet may well continue on in the physical sense but it’ll be without humans. You and those like you don’t understand climate change at all. I’m sorry, but you really know so little. I feel for your grandchildren. I honestly do. NOW I’m done with the thread.

    • APN

I see no difference in their seven gods and your science of GW. Both were designed to control the activities of the peoples. In contrast, my GOD, the living GOD, who is in fact real, gives me a choice to behave in a moral fashion or immoral fashion. GOD does not attempt to regulate my daily activities and only expects me to be a good steward of this planet. I do believe in climate change, how could I not given the genius of GOD’s creation. However, I am not arrogant enough to think I can predict future events, as is, what the median temp will be in 20 yrs from now. That’s GOD’s work, not mine.

………… And that is the BIG difference.

7 Billion and counting you say. Well, is this another topic of discussion? If so, are you suggesting something here? How do you suggest we trim down the world’s current population?

Welcome to the new Mayan world folks! I see AG and gang now, as they stand on their man-made temple, cleverly timed with a total eclipse of the sun. AG will be the High Priest with HC at his side, as we are all brought to the chopping block, beheaded as a sacrificial lamb, all in the name of saving THEIR planet, from “Global Warming”.

The polar ice cap is shrinking, as are over 90 per cent of the world’s glaciers. World-wide, nights are staying warmer, exactly as the climate models predicted they would. The total power of tropical storms, measured year by year, has increased by over 50 per cent since the 1970s. All these changes are happening in tandem with the rise of atmospheric CO2, very nearly as the climate scientists predicted they would. And the overall global surface temperature continues to rise — not in a smooth upward arc, but in a jagged upward line whose irregularities reflect local and temporary changes in weather. There is plenty of room for honest discussion about how fast these changes are occurring, or how much difficulty they are going to create for the people of the Earth, or what will be the best means of responding to the changes, or how we might slow them down — but to deny that they are happening is dishonest.

Nobody denies climate change. How could you not have climate change on a raging planet???? Man made science will never understand climate change and no amount of human activity will change it.

      That simple!

The reason for climate change is that the sun is not a constant source of heat. For thousands of years it was burning cooler, hence the ice age that developed, and for the last 14,000 years it has burned a little hotter, hence the ice is nearly gone. Man’s polution of the air has an effect but that is minor to what occurs naturally.
