The Ghosts Of Big Pharma

October 11, 2010 by

The Ghosts Of Big Pharma

When you have an ailment and go to the doctor you expect that if he or she prescribes medicine for your treatment that the choice of medicine would be made based on proven results for your disease. But that is probably not the case.

Physicians may think so, and you may think so, but the fact is that the information physicians get — even from some publications that are purported to be peer-reviewed — is often just a product of Big Pharma’s marketing arm. This is because Big Pharma is using ghostwriters to draft articles for publications and getting top-flight physicians to sign on as the “author” even though all they do is read the articles and suggest changes.

This fact came to light in late 2008 when Congress began to take an interest, and then surfaced again in 2009. It was in 2009 that The New York Times and The Public Library of Science (PLoS) gained access to documents used in a court case filed by more than 14,000 plaintiffs who developed breast cancer while taking the menopausal hormone therapy drug Prempro.

The drug was manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Wyeth (since bought by Phizer). Wyeth hired a marketing company named DesignWrite to produce articles and solicit big-named physicians to endorse them as authors.

According to a report in PLoS Medicine, the journal of PLoS, hormone therapy first began in 1942. It was then that the drug Premarin (Prempro’s forerunner) became the first Food and Drug Administration-approved treatment for hot flashes. Promotional efforts implied that estrogen could preserve youth and health. By the 1970s physicians, under the mistaken impression that menopause was an endocrine disease similar to hypothyroidism, were prescribing estrogen to millions of asymptomatic women. By 1975 the incidence of endometrial cancer in women who were using estrogen had increased 800 percent.

To counteract the endometrial cancer, progestin was added to the hormone replacement therapy. This was touted through the 1990s as a preventative for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, colon cancer, tooth loss and macular degeneration. However, by 2002 studies showed that hormone therapy failed to prevent cardiovascular disease and increased the risk of breast cancer, stroke, dementia and incontinence.

Yet, despite definitive scientific data to the contrary, many gynecologists continue to believe the benefits of hormone therapy outweigh the risks. This non-evidence-based perception may be the result of decades of carefully orchestrated corporate influence on medical literature, writes Plos Medicine.

Plos Medicine tells us that between 1996 (when Prempro was first marketed) and 2004, Wyeth worked with several medical education and communication companies — but mostly with DesignWrite — to market the Premarin family of products. In its communications with Wyeth, DesignWrite noted that “Research shows high clinician reliance on journal articles for credible product information.” So, in addition to “full-length review articles,” DesignWrite recommended that the publication plan for Premarin products should include mini-reviews, case reports, editorials, letters and comments.

DesignWrite suggested that short pieces could be published quickly and were an efficient “means of placing important information about the therapeutic profile of an agent into the hands of influential physicians.” The company also explained that it would help Wyeth decide what data to present, recruit “authors,” choose journals, create abstracts and posters for medical meetings and “Position the product appropriately to influence subscribers.”

DesignWrite then drafted the articles — casting the drug in the best possible light — and submitted them to physicians for review. The reviewing physicians then became “authors.”

PLoS Medicine reports that there is no evidence the “authors” were paid for the use of their name. There is also little evidence that authors did much more than review the article and occasionally make an editing suggestion.

It is illegal for pharmaceutical companies to promote a marketed drug for a use other than those which are approved by the FDA. But articles in medical journals, newsletters and magazines are not considered promotional and the FDA considers them free speech and doesn’t regulate them. (However, try to get that past the FDA if you are touting the benefits of a natural supplement… or even natural foods.)

PLoS Medicine writes that, in the absence of data (or in the presence of data adverse to marketing goals), review articles in medical journals are crucial vehicles for encouraging off-label uses, promoting unproven benefits and for downplaying harms. In other words, Big Pharma can say anything it wants about the benefits of a drug or completely ignore known harmful side-effects as long these articles are run in medical journals, newsletters and magazines.

This excerpt from “Medical Papers by Ghostwriters Pushed Therapy,” in the Aug. 4, 2009 issue of The Times, demonstrates how the process worked:

Sometime in 2003, a DesignWrite employee wrote a 14-page outline of [an] article; the author was listed as “TBD” — to be decided. In July 2003, DesignWrite sent the outline to Dr. Gloria Bachmann, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center.

Dr. Bachmann responded in an email message to DesignWrite: “Outline is excellent as written.” In September 2003, DesignWrite emailed Dr. Bachmann the first draft of the article. She also pronounced that “excellent” and added, “I only had one correction which I highlighted in red.”

The article, a nearly verbatim copy of the DesignWrite draft, appeared in 2005 in The Journal of Reproductive Medicine, with Dr. Bachmann listed as the primary author. It described hormone drugs as the “gold standard” for treating hot flashes and was less enthusiastic about other therapies.

The acknowledgments thanked several medical writers for their “editorial assistance,” not disclosing that those writers worked for DesignWrite, which charged Wyeth $25,000 to generate the article.

Dr. Bachmann, who has 30 years of research and clinical experience in menopause, said she played a major role in the publication by lending her expertise. Her email messages do not reflect contributions she may have made during phone calls and in-person meetings, she said.

“There was a need for a review article and I said ‘Yes, I will review the draft and make sure it is accurate,’ ” Dr. Bachmann said in an interview Tuesday. “This is my work, this is what I believe, this is reflective of my view.”

In response to a query from a reporter, Michael Platt, the president of DesignWrite, wrote that the company “has not, and will not, participate in the publication of any material in which it does not have complete confidence in the scientific validity of the content, based upon the best available data.”

But, as PLoS Medicine reports, DesignWrite had a specific agenda as a paid marketing agent of Wyeth. That was:

  • Mitigate perceived risks of hormone-associated breast cancer.
  • Promote unproven, off-label uses, including prevention of dementia, Parkinson’s disease and visual impairment.
  • Raise questions about the safety and efficacy of competing therapies (competitive messaging).
  • Defend cardiovascular benefits, despite lack of benefit in randomized controlled trials.
  • Position low-dose hormone therapy.

Unfortunately for more than 14,000 women, DesignWrite did their job well. So now you must ask yourself: Did my physician choose the drug I’m taking because of a well-written marketing piece? Probably so. Because it’s articles like these that drive physicians’ decisions about prescribing drugs for the patients.

    This should not surprise anyone.

Big Pharma doesn’t care about health or proper treatment, it cares about Big Pharma. What’s so lamentable is that physicians are in the same boat (or bed) with Big Pharma.

I haven’t seen a true doctor since I was a kid. He was a family friend, took his time with you, knew your medical history, and didn’t try to shove toxic synthetic drugs down your throat as if that was the most important part of being a physician.

Synthetic drugs are are among the worst things you can put into your body.

    • Robert Smith

From Vigilant: “Big Pharma doesn’t care about health or proper treatment, it cares about Big Pharma. What’s so lamentable is that physicians are in the same boat (or bed) with Big Pharma.”

That’s why America needs to join other industrialized nations and get the big money out of medicine. The general population of Americans pay more for medicine than other countries and get way less.

Best example of how bad it is can be cited when Bush went with the no bid contract and folks could buy the same thing in Canada for way less.

Old reliable products like Alopurnol is a treatment for gout that has absolutely zero potential for abuse. Why does a doctor need to write a script for that?

      Rob

      • JC

And it’s going to get a lot worse.
here’s a couple of facts about the Kenyan Health Care takeover that will knock your socks off:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcBaSP31Be8

        • eddie47d

What one sided swill. I’m surprised he didn’t wrap this propaganda in a pretty little bow. This video maker is not informing but helping to dumb down America with numerous distortions.

          • JC

It’s written in plain English eddie.

          • ceberw

Hey, Eddie, it’s on youtube, so it must accurate and unbiased, right? Right??

          • JC

What’s with you guys? Ignore an “obvious” truth because
it doesn’t suit your twisted anti-American agenda? Morons.

          • eddie47d

The numerous lies distorted the whole video so that in turn destroyed it’s credibility. Even Michael Moores’ pictures are more truthful than this guy’s and they too are one sided.

          • JC

            What lies? Qualify your comment.

          • JC

Apparently you are unable to qualify your comment eddie.
            I thought so.
Every word in that video is accurate and symptomatic of an administration completely UN American and completely out of control.
Everyone who had a hand in writing it (Health care Bill) should be giiven a speedy trial followed by a first class hanging.

          • THIRD PARTY

EDDY,people are afraid of the truth,I have the bill, read around 1235 pages, line by line, highlighted certain paragraphs, and then re read. The video STATES FACTS.anyone whom seems to like the bill around four people, cant debunk facts, they have silly responses, that prove ignorance to the facts.

          • eddie47d

JC; Little was plain in that video and I still say it was dishonest. So you “want to hang those who wrote the health care bill”(murder). Are you going to be responsible for the 45,000 who die every year because they don’t have health insurance? Who were turned away or denied medical assistance? Should we “hang you” for mass murder of these people or at least the Republicans who voted against it? We can all be mean and ridiculous, such as your comments.

          • eddie47d

JC; Is healthcare rationed now? Yes it is and that is why so many millions can’t get insurance. Govt. will have access to your bank account? No different than private insurance companies who have that access or paperless payments. National I D cards? If you have private insurance you must have it with you at all times or you may not be served. Every business keeps track of their customers. Why wouldn’t the govt.? There is no pay off to Unions.? Most union folks already have insurance. I think price fixing was brought up by another anti healthcare group, but private insurance does it all the time, and it’s not in your favor. Private companies have been gouging us for years so where’s you’re outrage towards them? The govt. will choose your benefits?? I have private insurance plus a supplemental policy. I’m sure if govt insurance is not enough for you then go out and buy a supplemental policy to suit your needs. Govt. will have access to your records? Probably, just like your insurance company right now. Even life insurance companies, ect. can get your records without you knowing. Cancer treatment will be rationed? Private companies do that now and it may be better under a govt.plan. Govt. will ban special needs people?? baloney! The govt. will end your life when they say so? More baloney and fear. Private hospitals make that decision every day. Will be little difference and the govt will Also work with family members to get people who are dying into hospices or other facilities. The govt. will ration mental health, drug addiction, ect.?? Check your private insurance policies and it will show you that they will limit those services. Please keep you distorted and manipulated videos to yourself and come back with one that is more honest.

          • JC

eddie, you blather on as usual doing your best sound sane and maybe even compassionate. But you are neither and you have still failed on every level to qualify your comment about what part of the video was a lie.
Murder? Not when its treason that is being punished.
And treason it is….robbing every American of their opportunities and rights except for those granted by an authoritarian government.
That isn’t murder unless you say we “murdered” oppressive Englishmen to gain our freedom from tyranny in the first place…which from you, wouldn’t surprise me.

          • eddie47d

This is a debate forum not a book writing contest. I gave you plenty to chew on but you became self righteous about it. You are brainwashed and only value yourself. Listen to various points of view and you might learn something.

          • JC

I value the freedom and autonomy of all my fellow Americans and I stand with them as equals and soveriegns. You on the other hand are and always will be a statist moron.
Keep waving your hopey-changey button. :)

          • Robert Smith

From JC: “I value the freedom and autonomy of all my fellow Americans and I stand with them as equals and soveriegns.”

No you don’t. For those who don’t have health insurance they will simply die.

Every day people who need treatment are DENIED because that treatment isn’t “in plan.”

All other industrialized countries have better health care for their general population than America. It’s embarassing to be compared to CUBA at the level we are at.

            Rob

          • Killian

Eddie, you’re the most (stupid) moronic idiot I have ever seen in my life, and trust me you have very good company. Your just as dumb as a bag of rocks, Yes I think every time I see your stupid comments anywhere I will address you as dumb as a bag of rocks. That 47d, that must be your iQ, I would capitalize the i, but your not smart enough to get the pun even if it hit you between the eyes. And don’t start me on what the d must stand for,man you should be the butt of all jokes in your little circle of Un- American freaks.

          • ceberw

It amazes me how people think having national health care will destroy our society and turn us into the USSR. I hear people complain about health care here in the US just about all the time. I lived in Canada for seven years and NOT ONCE did I hear anyone complain about the health care. There was nothing to complain about.

          • DaveH

That’s odd, because we met one Canadian couple in Utah last year that complained about it. And those are the only Canadians I have ever met. Must be the only dissenting couple in Canada.

          • Curtis Eberwein

There are millions of Canadians. And you base your conclusion on a sample of one?

      • JC

And it’s going to get a lot worse:

        Kenyan Health Care explained:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcBaSP31Be8

        • Kate8

Holy cow, JC. This is a nightmare of incomprehensible proportions.

Let’s not forget, the people who put this together, along with BigPharma, are the same people who are in charge of reducing the population my MASSIVE numbers.

          Any more questions?

          • eddie47d

I thought you lost you’re moniker Kate hate awhile back…..but it’s back. NOBODIES being “reduced in large numbers” and not even in small numbers. Democrats and/or liberals don’t like Big Pharma so why the cheap shots? Any more questions?

          • eddie47d

We still love ya Kate, hang in there.

          • JC

Absolutely Kate, the Kenyam Health care Act is a major leap forward in the destruction of the US and advancing the one world ant hill.

          • Kate8

eddie, eddie. Wherever did you see any reference to a party in my comment? I reread it several times, and by gosh, I just can’t find one.

          • Christin

            eddie47d,
“Nobodies [Nobody's] being reduced in large numbers”… really?
Maybe you should watch the small video to the right entitled “CO2 = P x S x E x C” and hear them in their own words and … then think again.

          • eddie47d

Kate: 1- “The people who put this together” Democrats get blamed for putting this together….so who are you referring too? 2- “People who are in charge of reducing population by MASSIVE numbers” Rightwingers keep touting that the Democrats are setting up FEMA Death Camps. ..So who’s going to do this massive killing?

          • eddie47d

Christin; I think you need to listen again. Bill Gates supports vaccines which has kept mankind alive and quite often allows people who would have died a chance to live and prosper. He only wants people to make responsible choices in their lives. We all know the planet can only sustain so many people and birth control needs to be used more often in developing nations so those who are born can thrive. Instead of fighting for limited resources. That is a cause we should all be working towards. America wised up years ago and most families have responsible growth and a better lifestyle for each of it’s family members. Few want to go back 80 years or so with 5-10 kids per family and everyone stayed poor. Stories about kids from poor families who break out and make it big are touching but very rare. When my father died my mother had to stand outside the grocery stores on Saturday nights and take food out of the trash. Stores were closed on Sundays and most perishables were thrown out: and there were only two of us kids at that time. “To be fruitful and multiply” doesn’t mean folks should put themselves in dire straits or uncaring about the world around them. To turn Bill Gates video into something sinister is wrong. What do you suggest for the future of the world? If immigration affects us so much now what will it be like in 20 years?

        • eddie47d

JC: Tell us why Japan (national Plan) which doesn’t have as strong an economy as us has a better life span than we Americans? (4yrs) Why is there insurance cost much less than ours and they can go to the doctor as often as they like? The same can be said about Germany,Israel,France Australia,Sinapore and a few others. We have private insurance companies who care more about hugh profits and CEO bonuses more than actually better health. We have Big Pharma who charges obscene amounts of money for every drug they sell. Our healthcare system is good but it has been sliding down for too many years now. Even longevity and general health in Cuba is equal to us so you really think we don’t need major changes? If we’re such a great nation then why are so many people left out and can’t share in that greatness?

        • JC

I don’t care why Japan has or does anything.
I wish them well, but I don’t live there.

          • eddie47d

Then improve our healthcare system or get out of the way.

          • JC

You and your damned communist government get out of the way.
Let people decide their own destiny without Big Brother its little Nazi minions such as yourself.
            Have a nice day.

          • eddie47d

If you want to go for the name calling knock youself out. I guess I could call you a fascist minion for wanting everything for youself and to hell with anybody else. So you choose if you want to take that path. Now you have a great day too!

      • alpha-lemming

Tough call. Without a financial incentive, you get unionized doctors with the smarts of baggage screeners and the compassion of the DMV. I would MUCH rather have a doctor passionate about his job/career than a union…”eh.. whatever” mentality. The high cost of medicine I lay directly at the feet of Ted Kennedy (C-MA) who changed low-cost medical insurance (“Classic” insurance… to be used for catastrophic occurences) into the unproven preventative care (certainly prevented me from saving) model costing me almost $100/wk for a family plan.

With that out of the way… the article was about pharmaceuticals, or as described above, “snake-oil” salesmen masquerading as pharmaceuticals. Some of the innovations have been good in that a pill cures what used to require a hopital stay…. others obviously haven’t lived upto expectations and have actually proven to be detrimental in the long run. Screening by “passionate” doctors in controled field studies (FDA should take their lead from the docs) is essential and (maybe… still musing) patents should be reuduced to get lower-cost knock-offs to market faster.

Finally, drugs are expensive here because of countries like Canada which “negotiates” prices and the recouping costs of manufacturing and research are piled on us to pay for Canada. Do you honestly believe there would be ANY innovation/research (or ample supplies) at all if all governments controlled drug prices??

        • DaveH

That’s right, Alpha. Government should butt out of the Marketplace. Their interference just costs us all more money. And we still get dangerous drugs anyway. Government employees cost us money (more than private sector employees), and Government regulations cost us more money by stifling efficient free market mechanisms. We need to give the power back to the consumers. The people who don’t want to think for themselves can pay consulting firms to do their thinking for them (that would still be cheaper than Government).

        • Robert Smith

From alpha-lemming: “Without a financial incentive, you get unionized doctors with the smarts of baggage screeners and the compassion of the DMV”

Other way around with the AMA. Other countries with insurance for the masses have excellent doctors, and excellent medical support staff. In America doctors are in it for the MONEY$$$

          “the unproven preventative care”

Preventative care is the BEST care. It is far far less expensive to prevent disease than treat disease. High BP, weight, and diabedis are a few that if kept under control are amazing at keepign people healthy.

          >>> patents should be reuduced to get lower-cost knock-offs to market faster.<<<

In other countries patents are held by the government.

"Finally, drugs are expensive here because of countries like Canada which “negotiates” prices and the recouping costs of manufacturing and research are piled on us to pay for Canada."

Actually that's NOT the way it works. Bush went for a no bid contract with manufactures and the public simply got screwed.

"Do you honestly believe there would be ANY innovation/research (or ample supplies) at all if all governments controlled drug prices??"

Positively. There was inovation and quite a zesty life in development in research for the first half of the 20th centurery before the current pattern started.

          Rob

        • Peter

alpha-lemming, you are so aptly named! I have never read such an unbelievably ill-informed piece of drivel on this subject. You have absolutely no idea about health care in other countries, including conservative countries like mine, who have had so-called ‘socialised medicine’ for many years, and still retain and train some of the finest doctors in the world, as well as allowing the public to only have to pay 10% of the price you pay for many drugs. The only reason you guys have to pay so much and don’t have public health and medicinal subsidies is due to the absolute power of Big Pharma’s lobbyists and political donations in the US over many years, which also continue to mount ridiculous scare campaigns that lemmings like you swallow hook, line and sinker! I could go on, but I just know I’m wasting my breath. There are none so blind as those who refuse to see. Look at both sides of the fence if you dare, and stop watching Fox news. They lie, big time.

          • Peter

…and your doctors, many of them, are so scared of misdiagnosis due to rampant malpractice lawsuits, that no amount of compensation would make it right. Honestly, I admire those of your doctors who not only hang in there, but defy the temptation to be drawn into Big Pharma’s lies. I’m sure there are some out there, and I’d love to shake their hands, but for the rest, they’re just glorified salespeople with a piece of meaningless paper hanging on their wall.

          • TIME

            Peter,
Well now thats so nice of you to be insulting when you yourself are the clueless one, but I digress when seeing a bubba or perhaps better said for you is a Bloody WANKER.

Why are your Prescript Meds cheeper, well Bubba; thats due to your health care systems will not pay the full price for them so the deal is that your Counrtys pay a small amount and “WE here in the United States,” Pay for what YOUR not paying, thats why our cost are higher, but why let the TRUTH stand in the way of your sweet little Fairy Tails.

As for Doc’s coming out of anywhere that are ” World Class level”
The only countrys that are producing such are Hong Kong, and India, so if you don’t live in either place you have little to be say.

China is playing catch up now, and will become a top shelf DOC maker very soon. Why is that in China students who opt to go into Med school are informed right up front they will be able to “charge higher fee’s” for their work product. OH my God that means that even in China the Free Market is growing, how can that be?

Thats something that Socilized med can’t do and fails at and why you don’t hear of people flooding to say the UK for health Care.
So Bubba, your sweet little fairy tail is just what it is a
            “Fairy Tail”
But thanks for Playing, please try again when you get your nickers out of your crack.

          • Peter

TIME, I don’t know what planet you’re on, but any jerk-off who has to stoop to the sort of personal insults you have, obviously spends far too much time with their hands in their pockets playing pocket billiards. And if your reasoning is any indication of your IQ, which it obviously is, you mount an excellent argument in favor of forced sterilisation. Grow a brain cell buddy, because your so-called logic simply doesn’t hold up against the facts.

Try cherries and/or cherry juice for gout. Works well and is real hard to abuse. Side effects it tastes good and regulates the body ph which dissolves the uric acid crystals in the joints that cause the pain.

      • Peter

Un……believable! So many people saying “Why are we not surprised?” Yet almost nobody who posts on this site is in favor of the health care bill or what we in other countries have, the great evil of…wait for it…socialised medicine!!! Shock, horror, the thought that some of your hard earned taxes might go to providing not only basic health care for all, but how about…yes, that’s right…subsidised medicines for all!! How about that? There are conservative governments in the world who use taxes to subsidise some of the most common prescription drugs so that folks can afford them, and guess what? The drug companies get on the other side of the fence then, and start to produce GENERICALLY LABELED drugs that folks can buy cheaper than the brand name drugs! Just so they can increase their sales volume! Big Pharma is the most profitable industry sector in the world. More profitable than oil! Their expenditure budget on average is 15% on research, 85% on marketing! Fact! A biotech analyst from Seattle, Alex Hittle (he has been publicly named and quoted globally, so this is not slanderous) was quoted as saying, “There are two possible disasters when you’re introducing a new drug to the market. The first is if you kill people with it, which is obvious. The second is if you cure people! The best drugs are those that can be used chronically for a very long time.” Big Pharma has absolutely NO INTEREST in curing any illness! They only want to alleviate symptoms, so that patients become dependent on the relief they receive from the symptoms they suffer. Utterly and completely cynical, arrogant and evil! That’s why I rely on natural medicines and therapies. Far more reliable than drugs.

I don’t, won’t and can not support anything that takes my right as a free American away. So peter not everyone on this site thinks big pharma or this currently ran odumbass country, is right.

    • Barbara B

You are 200% correct. The doctors are so tied into the drug companies, it’s sickening. Our country is now full of legalized drugs pushers. I have a ton of stories. I’m constantly changing doctors because all they know how to do is prescribe drugs and I am so allergic to so many that I refuse to take them unless it’s absolutely necessary. They do get angry with me when I tell them I won’t take a drug unless my life depends on it. So few doctors these days will say..”let’s see what the cause of your problem is” rather then give you a pill right away for every symptom…never getting to the cause. I had one doctor recently (another one I left) who prescribed 3 different drugs at one time to treat one symptom, because he wasn’t sure what the problem was. So I was being treated for reflux, sinus problem and asthma all at the same time. One of the drugs alone, a nasal spray, cost $110. That’s cheap compared to the costs of the drugs now. But the three drugs cost me $200 out of pocket…for drugs I didn’t need.
Another doctor I left gave me a prescription for Vioxx for pain that I did not have. And he prescribed it one month before it was taken off the market. Was he so clueless that he didn’t hear about the problems with Vioxx?? I doubt it. This so called “family” doctor asked what I took for pain when my appointment with him had nothing to do with pain. It was for a sinus infection. Of course, I threw the prescription away, but was tempted to ask him…if I fill this prescription will you and your wife get to go to Hawaii for a week???? The whole system is corrupt and we can thank the FDA and even the AMA for that!!! They’ll approve anything as long as they’re getting kickbacks!!! Are we so stupid that we don’t see it? Don’t be afraid to say…no thanks…I don’t need it especially when the side effects of the drugs are far worse than the symptoms they’re treating. But…that’s OK..the FDA says they’re safe, right???WRONG!
They need to go. We need to find honest people! Are there any around?

      • Jana

I am very fortunate to go to a Dr. that believes in Homeopathic meds too.
I was sitting in the ‘room’ waiting for the Dr. to come in about two years ago and a pill pusher was talking to the Dr. Dr. X told him that he found this particular med. didn’t work. The pill pusher said “oh, give it a few more months.” He gave the Dr. some more samples. The Dr. didn’t say anything, and then the clincher, the pill pusher said he was expecting the Dr. out at the hunting lease and they would all have a good time. Still no answer.
I asked my Dr. later if he ever went hunting, and he said “No!”
This Dr. also would also go into his medical samples room and often times give you enough samples that you didn’t have to go to the drug store. He is one of the good ones.

Jana – there was a time that Pharma Reps had to be Pharmacists – seems when that changed all hell broke loose with regards pharmaceuticals scruples.

Barbara, if you have trouble with reflux (I do too)…take a half teaspoon of baking soda in 3 ounces of water. You will burp a bit but you will feel better in about 10 minutes. It tastes a bit salty but it sure does help.

        • Kate8

Angel, If what you experience is acid reflux, there is a homeopathic remedy called Acidil (Boiron) that is miraculous for that. I have recommended it to many people with miraculous results.

Very few that can be trusted to survive the temptation and peer pressure of a hundred years of easy money philosophy. Falling for the sting is as common among its victims as among its perpetrators. A tsunami flood of supporting propaganda for the sting encompasses all phases of the parasitic life cycle of “head in a$$’ aptitude of both victims and lower level professionals. All forms of preventative practice continue to be suppressed here long after pharmaceutical, chemical and genetically modified food products are rejected and outlawed elsewhere. Don’t look for any great changes until both victims and parasites use available internet information to expose truth.

      • Robert Smith

From Barbara B: “We need to find honest people! Are there any around?”

No there are no honest doctors anymore. I have quit several of them because all they want to do is write perscriptions. For some reason the FDA took my natural thyroid off the market for awhile. They say it had to be regulated. It’s been on the market since the turn of the century helping people, but they had to get their nose in it. My primary dr put me on a sythetic (Synthroid) which made me sick. He would not help me get a natural thyroid. all he said was “I took and oak to do no harm”. HA I was sick for two months until I said “thats enough”, so I went to a holistic dr and had my natural thyroid (Armour) compounded. I did feel better, but not as well as I was before the FDA messed everything up.
Then my Gastro dr told me that I have Barrett’s Esophagus, H-Pylori, and some gastritis. I never had any heartburn or problems, but he said I would have to take Prilosec the rest of my life. Well I did some research and a lot of reading and found out that If I took Prilosec forever I would get much worse. There are natural things to take for everything and I have decided that I would keep going to holistic doctors and keep researching because doctors do not have your best interest at heart. Their job is not to get to the bottom of your illness, just treat the symtoms. I’ve had it with doctors and big pharma. My health food store is my doctor now and believe me, they know more there than any doctor I have been to.
I used to look at the old people (I’m old too) in the doctors office and wonder what the doctor was giving them that probably would make them worse off. I’m doing a lot of talking to family members to try and get them to take anything natural if they can. Also my grandchildren – I tell them that good habits early is an investment in your later years. I hope there are young people reading these letters because they need to start right now to take care of their bodies.

    • Liz

I totally agree. My teen son started fainting, had chronic daily headaches. His primary doctor actually started “scolding me” when I complained about the meds. He got mad that I decided not to put my 13 year old on : topomax, or Elavil( an antidepressant that was to be used for an “off label” drug for pain relief), or Gabapentin. These drugs were all prescribed by the pediatric neurologist. They only made him worse. I told him about this chiropractor. The doctor scolded me again and said that he wanted nothing to do with us since chiropractors are dangerous. Well, 3 mos. after seeing this particular chiropractor, who not only does adjustments but also NAET allergy treatments, my son no longer has headaches. In fact, the “root” of my son’s problem indicated a “blocked intestine”. This was cleared at the hospital. Not one doctor saw this. Now my son is much better, no headaches, no dizziness, no digestive problems. He still continues with the same chiropractor. Of course the insurance does not cover this, only $250.00. the chiropractor has been working with me on this. Still it’s not cheap, but my kid’s well being is worth it!

      • Robert Smith

        Hi Liz,

You posted ” Of course the insurance does not cover this, only $250.00.”

But of course you have a “choice” in care ;-)

The fact is that the big insurance are only interested in making money. That fact that someone may get healthy is incidental to their motives. So, they deny so much that can make people healthy.

That’s another reason why universal health care is important to America.

      LoL

Americans are supposed to have complete trust in MDs. My parents had great faith in MDs. I suspect their faith was misplaced, as they seemed to equate a technical (medical) education with an infallible expertise.
We are obligated to shop around for an MD. Not all MDs are equal, and some (like it or not) are ‘in it for the money.’ If your MD keeps you healthy, consider yourself lucky. If you have a medical problem that never gets ‘better,’ consider the posibility that your MD is an AMA flunky and has an obsession for making easy money.
True, all conditions are not equal, but as long as American medical schools are manipulated by drug firms (especially what is taught in medical schools), you owe it to yourself to shop around if your MD relies on “trust me” to keep you in tow.
Educate yourself. If you put no effort into that education, assume that you have a false god for an MD, and that MD has a self-made moron for a patient.

    • Robert Smith

From FreedomFighter: “consider the posibility that your MD is an AMA flunky and has an obsession for making easy money.”

The AMA is nothing but a UNION for doctors.

      Rob

      • Mike In MI

        Robert -
Well, while they are that, they are no longer the biggest union for MD’s. But, they do hold a controlling influence in the conduct of medical practice and medical mismanagement of diagnosis and treatment regimens. The vehicle by which they do this is the granting to them by government of control of the all important lists of “diagnosis codes”. These codes MUST be used along with supportive evidence from patients’ history, symptoms, tests and examinations to qualify medical bills for payment by insurance companies and governmental agencies. They charge big prices to acquire and publish these codes for use by anyone licensed to practice any health or disease care profession who wants to get paid the big bucks from insurers, foundations, government, etc.

There are some big problems with this. One of them being that they can monitor, mitigate or control who uses what types of healing modalities and remedies for what diseases and conditions. Since they have financial interests in promoting drugs, radiation, surgeries and elements of the allied health systems they use the codes as a vehicle to what treatments can be used for whatever diagnosis the doctor arrives at.

Via this mechanism and laws which they push through regulative and legislative bodies they heavily influence costs, effectuality, advancement and who participates in health provision in this nation. This is the origin and perpetuating influence being run on you by the medical monopoly which is bankrupting and ruining our strength to cope on the world stage.

They get away with it because people have been taught that health comes out of a test tube or technological “wonders”. They have convinced people that God’s ability to help and heal is no longer operative and should be discouraged. Their predecessors in the Devil’s evil schemes changed the gospel teachings in the second and third centuries. Since God is faithful to His Word, not to doctrines and commandments of men, God’s ability and desire to heal is looked at as myths and legends.

If that were true I would be dead several times, not writing this posting. When you want to be free of manipulation by people who see your body and mind as a pile of $$$ get meek enough to ask Him who (with a track record) can help you line up your mind with What He had written. It still works.

If you can’t see yourself going His Way then get used to the idea that when they make you sick you will go to bended knee at their feet.

There are good medical and professional assistance out here in all fields of healing arts. Use them or lose them. The powers that want you in submission, not health, are stepping up efforts to take away your right to choose between what they want to do to you or those who can help you become and stay healthy.

        • Mike In MI

Oh, I forgot to add this in the above:

Another trap in being bound to “Diagnosis Codes” is that a diagnosis is only useful to describe and define a full-blown disease or condition (trauma, mental, emotional, toxicity, etc.). Thus, any one desiring to seek preventive or natural care is severely limitted from obtaining help for a problem in early, clinically undevelopped processes which natural or AMA declared “experimental” therapies might cure before they become full-blown disease.

True Prevention is of course anathema to “Maintenance” Organizations.

          • Kate8

Mike, Another things is, you can go to several doctors and get a different diagnosis from each, depending on his specialty or focus.

A diagnosis is just putting a label on a symptom or group of symptoms. Once you name a problem, it becomes an entity unto itself, and we become polarized with it. We wear it as a badge, and indentify with it. We would be far better off to forget naming ‘diseases’ and, instead, look to restoring balance to our whole being. Disease is just a place where energy flow has become blocked, and too much stuck energy manifests illness.

We can consult various types of experts in search of someone who can help us but, ultimately, the only one who can really heal us is ourselves. That is because we are the only ones who can address the real source of our blocks and imbalances, as they originate in our mind/energy field. Learning and practicing Qigong is a marvelous way of integrating our mind/body/spirit and balancing our energies for the restoration of health and vitality.

A doctor I worked with used electronic diagnostic equipment (which measures where there is more/less voltage in our energy systems),to show where organs were distressed. He was also a homeopath/naturopath. A woman presented with certain symptoms, and he diagnosed a disturbance indicative of bladder cancer. She then went to an MD, who found no cancer, and a great attack ensued against the acupuncturist for scaring her.

Her problem was too early to be medically diagnosed at that time, as it was still in the energetic stage. Six months later, the cancer showed up on lab tests.

We need to understand that we have been indoctrinated to believe in the mechanical medical mindset, and that our health and disease are beyond our scope of mastery. We are helpless and vulnerable in a hostile world, where pathogens lurk everywhere. Living is hazardous to our health!

This is so far from the truth. We are amazing beings with amazing power to live in harmony with the Earth and the universe, if only we knew that we could. We have been led to believe in lies and operate in fear. This is not the truth of who we are.

        • rosina

According to a dear friend, a specialist, only 20% of doctors belong to the AMA.
Most do not approve of it.

Never forget that doctors are the same as any other profession. You have the top 20%, the bottom 20%, and the mediocre 60%.

        Just like hairdressers. LOL.

    • Kate8

s c – I read that there is an exceptionally high rate of depression and suicide among doctors, as well as early death from other causes.

No surprise here, really, but think about it for a minute. They really have no autonomy anymore. They are locked into a SOP, which they MUST follow (regardless of whether they have faith in it) in order to cover their rears in case of harm or death.

There is no motivation to discover therapies that actually help the patient, because he is not allowed to use them without risk of losing his license to practice. He MUST think and work INSIDE the box. Eventually, most of them come to realize that it is a dehumanizing system.

And, make no mistake. They plan to take away all access to natural healers, medicines and natural, wholesome food.

This was never meant to be about promoting health.

      • alpha-lemming

And don’t forget liability insurance, in this litigious society, which is HUGE (10s of thousands in premiums depending on the specialty… surgery, neo-natal etc.). Docs pay taxes and insurance quarterly because the “cost of compliance” mandates it.

When my kids were small, a doctor’s visit was $7.00.

Not too long after that, because of malpractice suits, we had to sign mediation wavers.

Then the fees went up, bigtime.

My husband, back in the ’70s, had a terrible head injury and was hospitalized for 6 days. The hospital bill was $300. And the care was excellent.

The regrettable thing about this article is the fact that sooo many will reject it out of hand because ‘their doctor told them’ that their hormone therapy is completely safe. It truly IS regrettable that people have apparently forgotten how to think independently for themselves. For further damning evidence against Big Pharma, check out this link about fluoride:

IF you follow this link, PLEASE keep an open mind & follow the facts!

    • Robert Smith

      Hi think4yourself,

      I did.

First I went to Wikipedia and then checked the original source material.

Here is wht I came up with…

From Pizzo G, Piscopo MR, Pizzo I, Giuliana G. Community water fluoridation and caries prevention: a critical review. Clin Oral Investig. 2007;11(3):189–93. doi:10.1007/s00784-007-0111-6. PMID 17333303″ “Health and dental organizations worldwide have endorsed its safety and effectiveness.”

From Ripa LW. A half-century of community water fluoridation in the United States: review and commentary [PDF]. J Public Health Dent. 1993;53(1):17–44. PMID 8474047: “Its use began in 1945, following studies of children in a region where higher levels of fluoride occur naturally in the water.”

From Ripa LW. A half-century of community water fluoridation in the United States: review and commentary [PDF]. J Public Health Dent. 1993;53(1):17–44. PMID 8474047: “Researchers discovered that moderate fluoridation prevents tooth decay…”

From The British Fluoridation Society; The UK Public Health Association; The British Dental Association; The Faculty of Public Health. One in a Million: The facts about water fluoridation. 2nd ed. Manchester: British Fluoridation Society; 2004. ISBN 095476840X. The extent of water fluoridation [PDF]. p. 55–80.: “…and as of 2004 about 400 million people worldwide received fluoridated water.”

In reality tooth decay can lead to many organic problems including heart problems. It is important that Americans have healthy teeth and flouridation is one way to accomplish that with the most bang for the buck.

          Angel-baby -
Flouride is, since the brain and immune systems are intrinsically tied together by common neurochemicals, a potent immune system suppressor and could be linked to diseases which sweep throuh our communities like plagues at various times.

Get a good water purifier and don’t trust “distilled” and bottled (in plastic) water – toxins in plastic. Another case of FDA abuse of the American people through Chemical and BigPharma companies’ ownership of FDA. They work in concert: one company makes us sick; the other gives us doping agents to cover the symptoms.

          • Kate8

Robert Fluoride is a by-product of aluminum manufacturing and is the probable cause of Alzheimers. You can’t solve a problem with the same thinking that created the problem.

Apparently you didn’t read the article. What researcher found that moderate amounts of fluoride are beneficial. The articles by reachers that show it is toxic will not be published. RS, That’s what you get for relying on things like Wikipedia.

Consider the bias of the sources you read, as many (like Wiki) are part of an agenda. There are plenty of articles from medical and scientific sources that tell you that adding rat poison to our water is INSANE, and has many very harmful effects.

Consider also that, since minute amounts of fluoride are poison, we are getting this compounded everywhere: toothpaste, bottled water and other drinks, our food supply…the list is endless.

And yes, it does make people docile, and was originally developed (for this reason) by the Nazis in Germany. It penetrates the blood-brain barrier and makes us vulnerable to other toxins as well.

        • Robert Smith

From LocalYokle: “Would you include the Alzheimer explosion connection in the great reward?”

Nope. I’ll blame Alzheimers (also called diabetes III) on high fructose corn serup.

High fructose corn serup that has infiltrated into almost everything. I don’t know why they put it into Chef Boyrdee ravoloi.

BTW, the change from Coke to the New Coke (that failed) and then they went back to Classic Coke. In actuality they went from sugar to high fructose corn serup via the “failure”. If you want a good theory investigate Coke and see what you come up with. (BTW, I tried snorting coke once and the bottle cap got caught in my nose.)

HFCS is what is impacting Americans more than anything.

I have moved my family away from Crest and all the rest of toothpaste/mouth wash that has flouride in it. Angel,
My female friends most have used Pot {sun leaves} that they dry and make “TEA” from that has in all but one case reduced the hot flashes completely, yet 9 out of 10 they have no more hot flashes, to one who has only reduced effects, in plain words has them still but they are only a fraction of the time.

As well they find they have no head aches, joint aches, and a large number of our friends who we have now met that have cancer have found it helps them to eat, as well to keep them relaxed and in all cases they have been cured from the Cancer with the use of Hemp Oil, and change of diet, As in all fresh foods no sugars, nor Corn Goo’s.

I also know a woman who makes two of her meals with ground up sun leaves cooked into them and she has no hot flashes, nor any other issues she is 55. She also has been using Hemp Oil for the last six months and as of last week was {100% Cancer free}, {she had uterine cancer} and was told if she didn’t use the worthless KeyMO she would be dead in six months, well she looks great.
JFTR- Also her skin cancer on her neck area, yet after applying Hemp Oil to these five spots, for about three weeks was 100% gone.

More folks should really wake up to the healing POWER of HEMP / POT.
Also I know many will ask does she smokes it too? Yes, she smokes a few hits to aid her to sleep, of what she can get a full eight hours of sleep and wake up and feel GREAT.

I also do this, I can’t fathom how you can do anything that can hurt you that is while your sleeping!
Use Pot as a med for healing and get off the Chemical made CRAP, Use Mother Nature’s healing methods, they work far better with ZERO SIDE EFFECTS.

JFTR, My lungs are better than a 18 year old Runners lungs, that not my thoughts thats what the science said after the test I had.
Oh and my cancer is 100% gone and has been now for nearly 12 months, as on November 2010 it will be a full 12 months.

People wake up it was the “progressive movement” that pushed to make POT illegal, so ask yourselfs WHY?
Can you say to insure that you would have to take MAN MADE DRUGS, look at how the big Pharm Co’s grew after 1936, now they make Trillions off YOUR suffering. Now ask yourself who’s in the direct line of the PROFITS? Can YOU see the picture better now?

I agree Time! I think theres a plant to cure each illness, God puts them here, it’s our job to figure out the cures. I watched my Mother, (ill all but 11 years of her life) become a walking experiment!__Her medical history file was 6 inches thick. She was Hospitalized for a full year during the Depression of 1929.__ Many times I remember her telling me, she was used a s guinea pig!__While I’m a little skiddish about the legalization of pot, (as we have enough corruption & illegal drug use to shake a stick at) but for medicinal purposes & pain, I think it’s grand. My only concern would be, wether or not it’s tainted.

        • Robert Smith

From Angel Wannabe who states: ” My only concern would be, wether or not it’s tainted.”

Pot is far more likley to be tainte by illegal growers than by legal growers with accountability along the way. Legal grow facilities are incredibly clean. The growers don’t want to lose their crop to some plant uckyness.

Robert, That is True, high end Growers are very careful that no bugs are in their porducts.

As far as tainted, the facts are that as long as its stored in a cool dry place, it can hold its THC value for as long as one full year, after that it starts to drop, but will not be tainted just less potent. HEAT kills the THC value, thats why a Cool DRY storage place is best. Try air tight large pickel jars, wrapped in high grade plastic bags in the jars, keep them in underground storage where its dry and cool, build an old style sugar room.

          • Robert Smith

Hi Time, (oops sorry, not pun intended. I only realized it as it was being typed.)

Posted: “as long as its stored in a cool dry place, it can hold its THC value for as long as one full year, after that it starts to drop…”

That’s a big issue in the testing of pot and the claims that pot has gotten stronger over the years. The fact is that they root out something from the evidence locker that may be many many years old and test it for THC. Then they test something frest. The results are predictable but in a world of reefer madness they are touted.

This thing about legalizing marijuana in California has a side effect I hadn’t even pondered till I heard it on the news – the plight employers will face with regards to same -

          • Robert Smith

Employers should base their evaluation on PERFORMANCE, not something done on the employee’s time away from work.

There are several ways to evaluate someone to see if they are on drugs. Contac (or half a dozen antihystimens like diphenhydramine (all spell ?)is a favorite to catch folks at. When someone falls asleep it’s a big clue.

It’s the same as drinking. If someone shows up drunk they are out the door. The first time it is a sick day, the second time they don’t get paid, and the third time they are gone forever.

I’ve sent people home with colds, when they didn’t get enough sleep, or were simply so mad at something they didn’t function. NOBODY has argued with me the next day.

            Rob

          • libertytrain

There was more to it than the usual – just another headache and liability for the employers – I agree, would be like drinking or coming in drunk, however, will people be functioning and will they be claiming their medicinal needs – seems like a slippery slope but then again – as a child of the 60′s, I didn’t imbibe in the stuff – I like, who was it Angel or Kate – didn’t want to be “spacey” —- I can’t relate to this crap.

Abnormal amounts of chemicals in our bodies is one reason I am a staunch environmentalist.Man made pharmaceuticals have too many side effects within us. They seem to create just as many health issues as they help. Some natural healing plants can be harmful if you take too much of a good thing. They still seem safer than manufactured drugs. Another thing of great concern is all the chemicals we use in our outside lives. There are 82,000 various chemicals used in the USA and all but 200 are unregulated. This could be anything from fertilizer to haircare products. We usually learn of there effects years after they have been brought onto the market. Which means more chemicals are being mixed (in our bodies or environment)as we accept newer chemicals. So no one will ever be able to determine which ones are doing the damage to us. Since many natural health products come from forests and prairies we need to have more concern in protecting them.If native species are pushed to the brink we may have to rely on Big Pharma even more.

          • Conservatives United

          “llegal drug use”

??? It is only illegal use cause those who think themselves our masters SAY the use is illegal. Their forcing us to use the drugs they want us to rather then allowing us to choose is what SHOULD be illegal.

        • Carol

My concern is that I am extremely allergic to marijuana. One whiff of someone who has been smoking it and I have a serious sinus infection which can take more than 2 weeks to get over. Even my Benedryl cure all doesn’t work very well. I say no to legalizing it for any reason. Also, I have seen what it does to people who use it.

          • Kate8

Carol, The people I know who’ve smoked pot on a regular basis seem spacy and unmotivated. Maybe it’s okay for someone who’s sick, but I haven’t seen it to be a good thing for healthy people.

I have a friend who smoked a lot when he was younger. He got cancer, and did homeopathic and and natural therapies. During a cleanse, he went through a time of horrific mood changes, and the doctor said it was due to marijuana detox. It apparently stays in the brain forever, unless you do something to detox.

Never went there, myself. I hate feeling spacy.

          • Robert Smith

From Kate8: “It apparently stays in the brain forever, unless you do something to detox.”

            Absolutely false.

Further, allergies to pot are very rare.

          • Kate8

Robert, Just commenting from personal observation.

Plus, the doctor was a good friend of mine, a European homeopath, naturopath and more, and light years ahead of western medicine. He brought many, many people back to health, including many celebrities. I would trust his experience completely.

Because you proclaim something to be false means nothing.

          • Robert Smith

“Robert, Just commenting from personal observation.”

Your “personal observation” is simply that.

The fact is that it is impossible to OD on pot and the effects are rarely seen after a good night of sleep. No hangover.

            Rob

        • Vicki

Carol. I know people who are (or claim to be) allergic to hydrocarbons. One whiff gives them headaches and nausea for hours. Are you willing to outlaw all machines that emit hydrocarbons?

          • Carol

I didn’t say it gave me a headache or nausea. I said it made me very sick. I wasn’t even able to work for a week the first time I had a whiff of it, and we had to hold down my cousin because she suddenly thought she could fly and was going to jump out the window. We didn’t use it ourselves, just caught the fumes from someone else using it. It causes hallucinations, and I sure don’t want to have someone on the road using it when I’m out there.

          • Karolyn

Carol – That pot must have been laced with something else. I NEVER had hallucinations on plain pot back in the 70s and don’t know anybody else who ever did either.

          • Vicki

I find Carol’s position extremely selfish. Because she had a reaction to (probably poisoned) marijuana smoke she wishes to deny millions of sick folk the benefits of this medicine which most would take by eating, not smoking.

          • Robert Smith

“I find Carol’s position extremely selfish. Because she had a reaction to (probably poisoned) marijuana smoke ”

That’s one of the BEST reasons to get pot out of the hands of criminals and regulated. That way those who buy it will know what they are getting.

It’s like with moonshine distilled in a car radiator with lead in it. When it’s illegal crooks will do what is cheapest.

          Robert,

This is the best medication any amount of money can buy, bar none.
I have been advocating its use for years for sleep problems, as well to make tea to reduce Hot Flashes and minor pains.
As well the cooking of it for higher pain levels.
After curing my cancer, I can’t advocate it enought, It was God who spoke to me and brought me straight to Rick Simpson, when God speaks to me, I listen, and then I do.

Rpbert – Please do keep in mind that people have been brainwashed by not only the media on this topic for years, but the government who rakes in the money from the Illegal aspects of it who have done everything to put a bad face on it that they can make up.

Pot / hemp could save the world if we could just get the truth out there about it. But saddly everyone thinks that its just a bunch of stoned nuts smoking it behind the building, rather than knowning that Hemp seeds have more protein than beef, makes paper and renews the land rather than cutting down trees of what its a 10 to 1 ratio, 10 acres of trees to equal 1 acre of hemp. The list of POSITIVES is so long its bloody crazy that we still believe any of the rhetoric from the Progressives.

          • Robert Smith

From TIME: “Please do keep in mind that people have been brainwashed ”

            REEFER MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s actually quite funny to watch and absolutely hysterical to watch stoned.

And then there are Rocky Horror and Airplane… (the first Airplane without William Shatner).

If you want to get into a little history “Zero Hour” is the movie Airplane was based upon. Check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Hour!

Another fun one with John Wayne is “The High and the Mighty”. The movie is another one to watch stoned and the music is hauntingly familiar. Like Airplane it has Robert Stack in it. Check out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047086/

      • Al Sieber

I agree with you TIME, but pot makes me paranoid. I’m in so much pain sometimes morphine won’t touch it. I was in a plane crash that really screwed my back up so sometime I have to take hydromorphone or diludia, I hate the crap so I just try to deal with it.

        • s c

Al, there’s a new new pain killer on the way that’s supposed to be one thousand times stronger than morphine, but is supposed to be safer (may already be out on the market). I sympathize with you, as an old friend is in much the same position as you.
One way or another, there should be something that can help.

        • TIME

          Al,
If you cook po t into your food, thats when it will take away the pain, yes you will feel wierd, so its comes down to the amounts, you use, this will be a test trial period, after a while you learn all the right amounts as the variables are graet please read all of what I post.
This will be differant for all people, a starting point is 1/8 tee spoon in a meal if standard grade.
Say you are having eggs and bacon, first start with your bacon, leave a tad of the oil behind, stir in your Po t.
Then when it starts to smell add in your eggs, cook until done, and you will want to add some spices, like Really Hot spicy pepers, and some fresh tomatos, perhaps a few bails leaves, and or some goat cheese.
Then in about 20-30 minutes the effects will start, keep in mind the better the grade of the base product; in plain words the higher the THC levels, the less you will need.

In plain words if you have a 20% Plus base you will need 1/16 of a tea spoon, lower grades 4-10% or whats mostly found around, in plain words non Med grade.
You will also find that the lower grades also lead to the Paranoia when smoking, as well {smoking it will not take away the pain,} only by way of oil reduction and or cooking making tea ect will that take away the pain.
You are heating it up thus changing the base levels and turning it to medication grade. Smoking I only use for deep levels of sleep.

        • Robert Smith

          Hi Al,

TIME makes a lot of sense. Something else you can try when it comes to cooking is to make some “canabutter.”

          You can check out: http://www.420magazine.com/forums/420-kitchen/37701-cannabutter-7-easy-steps.html

When finished it can be used in any recipee as regular butter that isn’t cooked too hot.

Please keep in mind that not everything works for everyone.

Also (very important) make sure your doctor knows what is going on and what you are trying. They must keep your secret, but more importantly giving a doctor an accurate history (drinking also applies) is important to your treatment.

The government has issued a law that banns any investigation into Pot as being a medical herb.

Further, the main reason the pharms do NOT want a plant-based drug is that it costs a lot more to grow and make than any artificial one. There are many other natural cures known but they have no interest due to the manufacturing and land requirments.

        • TIME

          45 Cal,
You mean PROFITS over the value of LIFE. H2 O2 also cures Cancer, but you can’t charge crazy money for it. One gallon of 35% Food grade is just $50.00 or less.
Now ask yourself how much money can a Big Pharm Co. make on a $50.00 cure that takes less than one Year and cost less than $50.00?

Do they know it cures cancer, { YES } they do, and thay have known about it for well over 40 years now.
The cost to persons with cancer, well I will let you all think about that, as its would make you sick, but a hint the average cost is $375.000.00, and the results are death after being eaten alive from the inside out.

Profits on “alledged cures” from Big Pharm Co’s, over the last 40 years – MANY countless TRILLIONS of dollars.
What That translates out to is countless summer and winter homes for Lawyers and Congress and Senate persons, Colledge for their kids, New cars yearly, 50,000 sqft homes holidays all over the world, and the list goes on and on.

TOSS OUT THE BUMS in NOVEMBER 2010!

Pot is a WEED. It’s very easy to grow in one’s own back yard. In a green house or grow room particular attention needs to be paid, but all in all it is way cheaper than drug manufacturing.

Time – I don’t quite understand “it was the progressive movement that made pot illegal.” (Your quote or close to it.) Wasn’t that back in the 30s with the advent of “Reefer Madness” (Great movie! I’m surprised the politicos aren’t re-releasing it!) :-) I thought it was the same people who advocated Prohibition. I may be confused, but wouldn’t progressives want to keep pot legal at the time and be more apt to make it legal now? I can’t imagine Sarah Palin or any other tea-partier advocating the use of pot.

Earliest recorded laws against marijuana were from the 1700′s in the US. Earliest US law I could find seemed to be in the early 20th century about the time of the Federal Reserve creation.

The 1930′s laws that most of us remember were signed into existance by democrat FDR.

Progressives don’t want us to use it cause it is easy to cultivate most anywhere and when using it we don’t need their products thus they loose more control.

From Conservative at Birth who asks: “Since when are Abortions safe? They cause untold physical damage to the female reproductive system.”

It’s all relative CaB, it’s all relative.

Certainly abstinance is absolutely safe (except for “Nun’s Diease” which is what breast cancer used to be called. Apparently there is a connection there). Self pleasuring is also very safe. Non penetrating is relatively safe. Sex with a condom is pretty safer than without. Having sex and not getting pregnant is safe except for STDs. Getting pregnant begins to get dangerous. An early term abortion is RELATIVELY safer than carrying to term. Carrying to term is absolutely the most dangerous thing a woman can do in relation to sex.

So, abortion is much safer than carrying to term.

You can also just take Maca. It’s a tuber plant that’s been used in Peru to 10,000 yrs. I take it all the time (for the masculine effects) and my wife’s mother takes it during her hot flashes – although I think she should take it more frequently. Anyway, you can buy it online in capsule or powder form. I live in Peru now and I can just buy it off the street here for 1/5th of what it costs online. It’s much more potent down here too.

The unfortunate part is that most people believe everything the doctor tells them to do, thank God I questioned most of the doctors I’ve been to otherwise I would be a walking zombie with no benefit to my health what so ever…I had a pretty bad sinus infection which I thought required a doctor’s attention, I walked away with 5 prescriptions to be taken twice a day all in the same time, on the second day I got sick as a dog and of course called the doc’s office, a nurse asked me to tell her which drug I thought was making me sick ?Well, considering I was taking 5 at a time it was pretty difficult to pin-point and told me to continue to take them until I could see the doctor again.

I quit taking the crap on the spot, went back to the doc 5 days later( The only opening available ). told the doc to prescribe some ammoxicillin 500 and was cured in 3 dyad with absolutely no side affect….

After seeing at the very least 8 different doctors including the so called specialists I still don’t have any answers to what cause my legs to go numb and hurt like hell in the same time and has spread to my whole body, I guess I will stay this way until I die , they are incapable of giving me an answer . of course they don’t listen to half of the crap I tell them, they just don’t care..So to blame only the pharmaceutical is wrong, the doc s have their share of the blame.

I believe increasing dramatically the penalty for drug companies hurting patients with the product produced or as many would say “poisoning for profit”.

It occurs to me that “Big Pharma” would be killing off their business by “purposefully” touting drugs that harm people. Just my contrarian critical thinking (free market is good)….thoughts. :-) And, if for years “Big Pharma” has been doing this, how do you explain that American life expectancy has gone from 59.7 in 1930 to 77.8 at this time according to one Googled chart?

    • f a

      One Word:
      Antibiotics
Not infallible, but certainly has helped eliminate or lessen the effects of once mighty diseases.

      • Dagney

Okay….so does that explain why this site continues to gin up fear of “Big Pharma” saying they are purposefully trying to kill off their business? This is what the marxists do, gin up fear of any “big” concern so that class warfare will ensue. I understand that there’s lots of complicated issues here, and there may be some skullduggery going on. However, most issues are complicated precisely because someone is not wanting you to see the truth. Look at the health care bill, it’s over 184,000 words. While our elegant founding document from which ALL our laws are supposed to emanate is just over 4,500. Do you think it is an accident that most of the health care bill does not get implemented until after the 2012 election?

So, are the “Bigs” trying to kill off their customers? If so, can you tell me why?

        • f a

          Dagney:
I agree! I started out in pharmacy (long time ago….the number of drugs in the past 30 years has increased by something like 20 or 30 thousand). No, I don’t think that pharma is trying to kill people.
Now, look at the health care bill. Now look at who ‘sold out’ for a piece of the pie. Not just the pharmaceutical industry. Nope, pretty much everyone affected by the legislation, other than the hourly workers and the patients themselves; and, they are the ones who will be screwed by this fiasco. Every other industry (pharma, doctors [oh, they'll say they will be hurt, but it never really affects them like it does other providers], the hospital associations, AARP, the insurance industry, government, manufacturers, etc.) will profit from this legislation, and patients will suffer.
I don’t know about this site picking on pharma, but they were the first visible industry to sell out, or, buy in to the proposed legislation. Maybe they’re just an easier, or more visible, target.

    • Robert S

Dagney I think the life expectency has increased so much is because we don’t have the same rate of children dying at birth.

      • Dagney

Dagney, Life expectancy has gone up because alot of people refuse to use, big Pharma!!!

      • Dagney

How many people suffer from polio now? How many people die of Smallpox? Mandated vaccinations in the 1960′s and 1970′s have eradicated many illness, yet fear is being drummed up over vaccinations and some of these illnesses are on the rise again. Why? Why is “Big Pharma” such a expletive here? What is the answer to the people on this site? More regulation for thee (Big Pharma) but not for me? The mixed messages of freedom and liberty that are espoused here for business in general but not for “Big Pharma” is what I’m trying to get at. Explain it to me, please.

        • Angel Wannabe

Dagney, Like our parents used to tell us, things were different in my day!___You are correct!__But, It was a bit different for me, the vaccinations didn’t work__I had the German Measels twice, the regular measels three times, and chicken pox twice!

        • f a

          Dagney:
Don’t know about you, but I do work in healthcare, and have for 30+ years. Don’t get started on the vaccines! In 25 years, the number of vaccinations a child gets by the time he/she is 5 years old has nearly tripled. And why???? How many infants have Hepatitis B?
Now, please show me the data proving the efficiacy of the H1N1 vaccine. I gave a bunch of ‘em last year, and am giving it again (as part of the seasonal influenza vaccine) this year. This vaccine was flown through the FDA approval process, and yet there is no demonstrable evidence proving it is safe and effective, despite nearly 200 clinical trials in the gov’t database. Maybe someone does have proof; we need to be able to see it.
Polio and Smallpox were/are not the problem that they were made out to be by the time the vaccines were ‘available’ to the public. Smallpox is treatable without vaccination; polio diagnosis and tracking changed during the development of that vaccine (some say to improve the statistics resulting from the vaccine!).

        • airangel

Actually at the time of polio and smallpox, plumbing and better sanitation and hygiene came into play….many bacteria and germs were irradicatted naturally by improved living conditions. They may have gone away on their own. Germs and bacteria lie dormant until unhealthy conditions wake them up where they grow and proliferate. Look at your poverty stricken areas and the huge spread of disease even today….we are now dealing with Chagas, whooping cough, tuberculosis and some new cases of leprosy due to the illegals coming across. They are poor, not health inspected when they enter the States and live in horrible conditions. All the diapers, feces and mass trash they leave behind on the border is creating new health concerns we irradicated years ago…look at the babies in California now dying of whooping cough…Poor Hygiene and Slum areas are a playground for disesas along with tainted drinking water also found in poverty and dirty areas.

          • Kate8

You are right, airangel. Hygiene is the biggest reason for the eradication of disease. And better nutrition, as well.

The other thing is, epidemics burn themselves out after a time. Just look at how flu seasons come and go.

There are so many ways to remain resistant to pathogenic onslaughts that are so much better (and safer) than vaccinations.

        • Robert Smith

From Dagney: “How many people suffer from polio now?”

Polio is almost gone. It’s about 1,000 cases each year world wide.

Another problem is post-polio syndrom. Around a quarter of individuals who survive it in childhood develop additional symptoms decades after recovering from the acute infection, notably muscle weakness, extreme fatigue, or paralysis.

It’s much like shingles can come back decades after chicken pox.

That’s why immunization is so important, even althogh there are many who object. It’s sad because it works so well and it is so much less expensive to do the preventative than to treat stuff.

          Rob

          • Kate8

Robert, Some people develop that same ‘post-polio syndrom’ from the vaccine, usually around mid-thirties.

          • Robert Smith

Posted: “Some people develop that same ‘post-polio syndrom’ from the vaccine, usually around mid-thirties.”

Very very rare AND some cases of polio were passed off as a cold in many who were infected so it’s hard to blame the vaccine. In fact it’s mostly lawyer driven with little medical substanciation.

D, you’ve ignored the obvious. Uncle Scam is the #1 keeper of ‘stats.’ Anybody who relies on Uncle Scam for accurate info [life expectancy, unemployment, inflation, "new" jobs, accountability for doling out money to banks, who did what and how in the BP escapade, what a dollar is worth, Big Pharma's need for OUR money, etc.] is someone who will be easily misled.
Uncle Scam has a vested interest in manipulating stats. Uncle Scam has a vested interest in total control over your life. Uncle Scam sux.

      • Dagney

I think you can tell by looking at history yourself and looking at birth and death dates of promininent people that we now live quite a bit longer than people did a hundred years ago. There’s no need to rely solely your supposed “government manipulated” stats.

        • Robert Smith

From Dagney: “There’s no need to rely solely your supposed “government manipulated” stats.”

Promnent people of long ago eras had two things going for them for long life. First and generally accepted as the primary root is genetics.

Second is that they had access to water that wasn’t infected. How? They drank beer, wine, and booze. Yup, most of history was made by guys with a buzz on.

    • Kate8

Dagney, It’s easy to brainwash and hypnotize the masses into walking right down the slaughterhouse shute, believing they are doing the proper thing all the way.

Conventional medicine propaganda has most people believing that they are the only ‘legitimate’ medicine, that everything else is false and ‘unproven’, and that, even though conventional treatments will likely not help them get well (it’s all about disease management), it is the only logical course for them.

Never mind that pharmaceuticals are largely only ‘proven’ to create more health problems while only masking the original complaint for a time, perhaps.

It is all so illogical. We live in Wonderland.

    • eddie47d

fa, so true; Yet antibiotics are not fool proof. They have helped tremendously yet if you take too much or too often you can become immune. Then they become useless.

      • Kate8

eddie, not only do antibiotics become ineffective after a time, but they cause fungal overgrowth in our bodies, as well, which is devastating to our immune systems.

If antibiotics are used, they should be rarely used. There are much better courses to take which don’t have the nasty side effects.

BTW, cancer is primarily fungal in nature. Think there’s any connection here?

I am relating my personal experience that goes back over 35 years. Back in my late 20′s, I was put on medication by a doctor for mild hypertension. When his pills first perscribed didn’t work, he added more and more pills, until I was taking 11 pills a day. Most of these pills, were not even blood pressure pills, as I was to find out later. They included water pills, tranqulizers such as valuium, and other such things. Infact, my blood pressure was going up not down. Although I was a young adult (college student) during the mid 60′s, I never used any of the recreational drugs, but this experience on perscription durgs, left me floating as if high on something, stomach and intestinal aches. head aches and more. I was a teacher at the time, and could barely function some days. I strongly believe that those drugs, have contributed to some probems that I have now (Age 65). I finally went out and bought a perscription drug book, and started to chart the side effects of all of these drugs. I found that the individual side effects of each one was bad enough, but the things that I found is that in combination, some of those side effects can be magnified tens or hundreds of time greater. This doctor was a legalized pill pusher back in the mid 1970′s, and did finally loose his license to practice over other issues, but it made me feel better that the pill pusher was not destroying others lives any more.

I finally went back to the Old Doc I had had before, known as the horse doc, not because he acted like a veternarian, but because he raised horses. He was cut in the old doctors that I grew up with that treated the person, not like most of them I have encountered since then that only push pills. This doc looked at all the pill bottles, and stated some of these he never perscribed, such as valium, except on an in hospital basis. I then ask him what he was going to put me on after he picked up the waste basket and dumped all my pill bottles in it, and he stated nothing, you don,t need anything.

As a result of this I have had suspicions of most doctors since, and anytime I start hearing them pushing their drugs and pills at me, I GOOD BYE. I am in that situation now, as the Osteopathic doctor that talks a good line, but then reaches for DRUGS AND PILLS for solutions. My wife and I are looking now for a Naturopathic doctor, but have not foound one as yet in our area. I have changed my diet, added supplements where possible, through out the last 35+ years. I do not take any of their drugs and pills at this time.

My message to everyone, is don’t get hooked on the LIES AND DISTORTIONS that the doctors are feeding every one. RESARCH,RESARCH,RESARCH. If what they are telling you makes you uncomfortable, then there is a good reason. Don’t get hooked on a life of pills. I have seen too many people do this. I HAVE SAID FOR YEAR, THAT THE SICKEST PEOPLE ARE THE ONES TAKING ALL THE PILLS. The pills are keeping them sick.

Because of this, I have a complete fear of Big Pharma, most doctors today and the medical community in general. Yes many people have been saved and live better lives as a rsult of medical advances, but the REAl FACTS are that Big Phama does not care what happens to us. Their real concern is the bottom line. Now don’t jump on me as being Anti-Business, because I have been a Business owner for over 30 years. Doctors and the mdical profession have become nothing but LEALIZED PILL PUSHERS for the BIG PHARMA. The FDA, rubber stamps what BIG PHARMA, tells them to.

    • Karolyn

They stifle competition by smaller companies marketing more natural remedies. Then, if they can get the natural remedy renamed by the FDA, they can produce it themselves and have more of a corner on the health market. I wouldn’t be surprised if they have a big lobby against the use of medicinal marijuana. That would surely cut into their profits. Have you ever noticed how pharmaceuticals lead to more pharmaceuticals, ad infinitum? More meds are needed to control side effects. My friend’s mother died a few years ago; and she was on 10 different medications! He believes that’s why she died. We don’t need them all, but they keep trying to pursuade us we do. I am so sick and tired of watching drug commercials on TV. They should be outlawed.

Most medications and do not cure anything. They just stifle the symptoms. I know people who went on chemo for Hep C and are sicker now than they were prior to treatment. And they will be permamently damaged. That’s why I never did treatment, and I’m perfectly healthy other than the usual aches and pains that come along with being 63. I can get rid of them too if I do the right things. (It’s just getting started I have the problem with!) :-)

Check out Mercola.com and get an earful from him.

I happen to be one person who has taken hormone therapy for many, many years and fortunately, have had no ill effects. I started menopause so early in mid thirties and suffered from those awful flashes every 45minutes on the dot-night and day. A few nights without sleep is already a burden but night after night?????
I am grateful for the premarin and progesterone which kept me sane.
Even today, many years later, but on a very low dose, if i forget to take it for a few days I perspire too much–and in the hot summer humidity it can be worse, so I continue.
However, I rarely take other drugs even for high blood pressure.
I am very healthy, a good cholesterol count with HDL always between 96 and 145—YES that is not a misprint. Active, dance, sing, perform in plays and do NOT look my age at all. I put a lot of this down to the hormone therapy and will not abandon it.

    • Kate8

rosina, My sister did this, as well, but when she developed many health problems and finally sought alternative help, her doctor switched her to bioID hormones, and she loves them.

    Thank goodness for the internet.

My primary care doctor prescribed a blood pressure drug called Metoprolol Tartr. I went home and looked up the side effects of this drug on the internet:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; cold hands and feet; fainting; hallucinations; mood or mental changes (eg, confusion, depression, short-term memory loss); muscle pain or weakness; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe dizziness or lightheadedness; shortness of breath; swelling of the ankles or feet; unusual thirst or fatigue; unusually slow or irregular heartbeat; vision changes; wheezing; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; dry mouth/eyes; gas; headache; heartburn; lightheadedness; mild drowsiness; muscle aches; nausea; pain, redness, or swelling at the injection site; stomach pain; trouble sleeping; unusual tiredness or weakness; vomiting.

    No thanks on this medicine.

Oh, BTW, the doctor said when I left the office. If you have any side effects just throw the medicine away. I will be changing doctors ASAP.

it’s mostly what happen, the docs filled their pockets by having their stock go up and we’re in worse shape having to go back over and over , and if you don’t have anything wrong with you, you can be certain that they will find something one way or another..
if people were to think they would realize that as many time they go to the doctors they should be in perfect health with no reason to go back for years..The medical profession have a hell of scam going with hardly any backlash considering we can’t prove it……….

Hey folks; where do you get the “Sun leaves”???
When I was in my early 40s and having hot flushes my Dr. recommended acupuncture for the problem and he was correct. I had to pay for the treatment from a specialist but it was money well spent.

    • Bob Wire

“my Dr. recommended acupuncture for the problem and he was correct. ”

Yea, when I’m at my wits end with something ~ I’ve got a Dr. Zang, graduated Shanghai University in 1954 that I go to. For 55 dollars and no side effects it’s worth a shot.

He says, “Stick out your tongue.” I do and he makes a disgusting facial gesture that only tells me I must have an ugly tongue or something?

Then he sticks some 25 needle in me and connects them to voltage via small wire and alligator clips ~ and I lay there and vibrate 20 minutes. ~ It’s not really as bad as it sounds ~ really.

Sometimes I feel a great improvement as I walk out the office door and back to the car. Sometime I don’t. But at least I’ve not exposed myself to greater unknowns and only spent 55 dollars.

      • Kate8

BW – I worked in an acupuncture clinic for many years, and can attest to the many healings of health problems conventional medicine couldn’t touch. Any number of long-standing disease processes were successfully resloved in fairly short order.

If people understood the science behind modalities like acupuncture, and other forms of energy healings, they wouldn’t view them with such scepticism. In fact, they make a lot more sense than conventional cut, poison and/or burn therapies. Instead of overwhelming the body’s natural responses, they clear the impediments and support the restoration of the body’s own natural ability to heal itself.

Our culture has relegated humanity to the level of being strictly physical and mechanical. Yet, we are not mechanical, but energetic beings, bio-electric and spiritual. When we come to understand this, all things are curable.

  • Mick

Did any of you ever noticed that when a dug works they take it off the market on the pretext that it’s an old drug and the latest drug are better,,?
Make sense when you consider a working drug is a non=profit drug,,,

  • Emery

Big Pharma = big money for big Pharma. There have are some good article showing how Rockefeller used his money to take over the medical schools, publications and the drug industry. It is a monopoly that uses government agencies that they control to enforce compliance. It’s getting worse with new bills on the horizon and in committee in both corrupt houses and parties. At least we still have some freedom on the internet to get the truth out. Doctors use their authority to scare the dickens out of people, telling them they can die if they don’t take their prescribed medications. As you take one then you need to take more and more for all the negative side affects. Soon you end up being a very profitable person for big Pharma. Unfortunately it usually does not improve your health. It almost always starts with blood pressure medications.

I use to think that it was all about money, however now I think it is also about control. Making people unhealthy and dependent on prescriptions which they can’t afford allows the government to step in with their government health care – which is all drugs. When they have that they can completely control you. The only way to escape their dragnet is to remain healthy. Now they are trying to take away the natural products and food that keep us healthy. So it is about money but it is more about control and destroying freedom of choice. Unless you think choosing either Pfizer or Merck is a choice. Even now the choice of doctors is a joke. They are almost all brainwashed in pushing drugs for big Pharma. Most doctors today are just drug pushers for Big Pharma. They may mean well but this is how they have been taught to think.

What they are doing to Americans is criminal and they should all be tried and jailed for their crimes against humanity. I mean of coarse Big Pharma and not necessarily the doctors.

Anytime the government steps in and attempts to uphold any company attempting to allow their citizens to purchase the same product in another country is wrong. We pay more in prescription cost than any other country. Where are those who are for capitalism, guess not when they are protecting their “friends” who spend lots to buy their votes. Why did big pharma get lots of money from taxpayers before the first pill was dispensed? Their money talks and bought out those in charge.

  • Bob Wire

It’s a “call shot” at best! Best thing is “Not get sick or injured”

In the last 2 months I had two friends that got down, ~ over bad reactions to medications prescribed by their doctors. ~ Their Legs and feet swell up and they get weak as a kitten. ( I think they swell internally as well) ~ One spent some 9 thousand in hospital bills trying to figure out the “cause”. The other laid around the house for two weeks like a snake bite hound. ~ They are better now but sill having side effects.

It’s quite a racket actually, it’s hard to get testimony from the dead and dieing.

I accept my death, I’m just allergic to pain. Stay away from the SOB’s , that’s where sick people go.

They have managed to keep my 86 year old father on the edge of death for 6 years now. He putts around the house on his “good days” watching mother as she panders hand and foot.

Not the man I wish to remember at all.

Thank the Lord some people are realizing
the danger of these prescriptions Doctors
are giving people. Since this new health
plan this administration put out I have
received stacks of information of thousand
of alternative to drugs. Many are in our
homes, in our vegetable etc that has a
help and cure to many diseases. Some can
help event those who are terminal. Many
Doctors have had their license taken due
to using an alternate and saved a life.
One thing comes to my mind and that was
sugar (like in our sugar bowl) saved a
man from having an amputation. People
please research there are many Doctors
who are giving out their information
    concerning ALTERNATIVES. We need to
start trying to get a law in this nation
these are needed and the good LORD has
given us many things, I have two differ-
    ent natural alternatives

    • JC

And that’s why CODEX (Big Pharma) wants to control alternative and Herbal medicine as well. They really don’t give a flying rat’s a** about us or our health.
There’s no money in healthy people and there’s no money in dead people.
So they want us half sick our whole lives….

JC – Yes, sick until they’ve sucked every dime out of us. Then here comes the morphine drip.

I read that the average cost per cancer patient (until death) is $100,000. Compound this by millions every year.

Sick and stressed people don’t fight back. People struggling to survive don’t fight back, nor do the homeless.

This is just another aspect of the demise of America.

  • Bob Wire

Yes Donna, as I understand it presented, HCR is to make a big push towards “prevention” getting proactive with wellness.

Maybe it will be the push that breaks this cycle of attempting to fix every illness with a pill.

The American people need to get more in tune and connected with their bodies. I know I thought I was bullet proof the first 45 years of my life.

  • J.McConnell

The s.o.p. is to blame UNIONS ,especially government worker unions, for everything.
If you can enter my formerly english speaking country illegally and get free health
care the cost of health care & insurance will go up.
If you burn yourself in a clandestine methamphetamine lab explosion and require
prolonged and expensive burn care health & insurance costs will rise.
If you are overweight, drink to excess, smoke and your only exercise is pushing down
on the remote control button you are also part of the problem.
I understand Don Imus is having success treating prostate cancer without traditional
surgery-chemo-radiation but instead uses habanero peppers and Japanese soy
supplements along with diet & exercise. While this may not be right for everyone we
owe it to ourselves to take a better look at alternative treatment rather than accepting
anything the doctors and pharmaceutical companies want to (literally) shove down our
    throats.

    • Kate8

I heard a European doctor speaking on naturally healing cancer, and he said that the only reason men die of prostate cancer is because of the treatment. He said you couldn’t die of this if you tried.

This man has helped so many people recover from this and other diseases. The only ones he couldn’t help were the ones too badly damaged by conventional treatments.

Isn’t there something about “First-Do no harm” ???

        • Kate8

          J. I think that went down the rat hole long ago, right in front of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Medicine has done plenty of harm. Just look at those who have died just for the purpose of studying the progression of disease.

No to mention those who’ve died of the ‘cure’.

  • Thomas Kobara, M.D.

A cogent and timely article. Hopefully, your crusade will turn some “Whipping Boys” into “Whistle Blowers”. If the public including doctors only knew or cared, then the welcomed change would be forthcoming. We doctors are part of the problem.

    • Kate8

Plus, there is no way you can honestly expect to help anyone when they are only before you for 5 minutes, and are limited to one symptom per visit. Multiple symptoms can all point to the primary problem, after all, if one is educated in how to read them.

Our bodies are not a collection of independent parts. Every system functions in unison with the whole, and cannot be treated separately. Specializing does not increase results.

Until we can get beyond the mechanical model, we will continue to fail.

Big Pharma – The real Drug Cartel and Maffia Medicine!

    • airangel

@RiverRat…FDA is in bed with Big Pharma, Big Pharma owns the companies that do the clinical trials and safey reports. They cover up complications and produce falsified safety data on the drugs they are fast tracking to market. This is proven in billion dollar law suits against big giants like Merck and Pfizer. Many drugs that have caused fatalities should have been pulled from the shelves but FDA only slapped more black box warning labels on them yet for less reason they feel completely justified to raid cherry producers and confiscate all their products because of “real” scientific claims about cherry extracts healing inflammation and gout (can’t have that out or people would buy the drugs)…don’t be fooled…Medicine is BIG MONEY and not about HEALTH at all…Doctors do a great job with life saving surgeries and bone placement and ER treatment but as far as prevention and keeping Americans healthy with a “quality” lifestyle….we simply suck because of the Big Pharma/FDA marriage of corruption! Why do you think insurance covers disease treatment and meds but not prevention and wellness. Most people take the meds because they can’t afford the healthier alternatives since insurance doesn’t cover that (this is by Big Pharma design). With all the billions in fund raising and research why are people sicker, more obese, having more cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure, high tryglicerides, more cancer, more diabetes….I’ll tell you because of “synthetic man made drugs” and Monsantos GMO franken-seeds and franken-foods…your body was never meant to process toxins, poisons, chemicals, man-made drugs….The Pharma labs study herbs and plants and KNOW their healing properties so they try and clone components of the plant and synthetically make their versions because they can’t patent nature. They hide the truth about the TRUE healing of the “whole” plant sterols, phytonutrients, antioxidants, polysaccaride chains, etc (you only get the benefits from the whole plant and it’s components as nature intended) They hide this research because they want to play God and create their Franken version of the plant only it doesn’t work because it’s been adulterated and synthetically lab made and modified. They will never be able to duplicate plant, animal and human life, (at least with the same attributes, reproductive and life giving qualities)

I have had great health because of a doctor who knew what he was doing. I one day felt like I was getting the flu and I was forty miles from my terminal. I was driving a gasoline tank truck and was barely able to get back to the terminal. I got in my corvair and drove home. I was unable to get out of the car. my wife and son and daughter pulled me out of the car and helped me get into the house and into bed. three hours later I was unable to move. my wife called our private doctor and described my condition to him. he told her to have the pharmacy to him and he would have a prescription for me. my wife did so and I was in bed 3 days. I went to the doctor and he examined me and told me to continue the medicine. I did. 3 weeks later my doctor released me to go back to work. I worked for chevron and you had to go to the company physician to get released to go back to work. the company doctor said upon seeing me asked who was the quack who said I could go back to work. I told him and he looked up the doctor and said no wonder you could go back to work he had two major finds in arthritis, headed the arthritic clinic Orthopedic Hospital, and was a leader in arthritis treatment. the co doctor said no wonder you can go back to work he is the best. At that time I learned that I had Rhemotoid Arthritis throu out my body. He had cured me. He told me to stop sugurs and oils, and nuts in my diet and I would be ok. that was forty years ago. and I have not had any problem since. ten years after the illness I started walking and have perfect health. I walk a miminum of 5 miles a day. am 67 years old. Good doctors are the answer not drugs.

Sugar is one of the worst things for causing inflammation! Most of us eat way too much of it and then complain about joint pain, etc.

      • Karolyn

Guilty! I printed a list off the net of all the dangers of sugar, but I have a hard time staying away from it. We must also remember that things that are good for some are not for others. We are all different. This is also why the “once-size-fits-all” medical profession is wrong.

The corn syrup lobby is pushing the o.k. in moderation line for high fructose corn syrup.
What exactly is moderation when the stuff is added to so many food products? Apparently
consumers are reading food labels after all and making healthier choices.

Big Pharma is, I think, in reality, the number one murderer of this country. The truth of the matter is that they use synthetic chemicals to make their medicines cheaply enough then turn around and sell them at outrageous prices. Our bodies cannot handle synthetic chemicals and never will. This is what is causing our health issues to begin with.
All the chemicals allowed in our food and drink are the true culprits as to why we get so sick and so readily. Big Pharma knows this and supports the major food industries for this reason.
And as cost of making their pills, one example comes to mind: The chemo pill. It costs 17 cents apiece to make but a bottle of 112 to the patient costs $1625.00 every 3 weeks. I know from experience.
With big pharma, it is all about money. They want everyone in the entire U.S. to be on one of their products before all is said and done. They have actually made a statement to this effect.
The problem with big pharma is that they cannot patent natural organic substances that are the route of their chemical duplication. In other words, big pharma is trying to duplicate nature only in synthetic form. When they get, say, somewhere in the vicinity, not close in my books, they patent it and tell the world they have achieved a break through on a new drug that will cure you of your ailment.
Another thing is that for organic health supplements, they will never allow anyone to make the claims of resolving health issues the way their synthetics do. They have a monopoly on everything we ingest. They keep us barely alive for the rest of our lives so that they can squeeze every dollar they can out of us. Congress should try and convict these people for their acts of harm against every citizen who has taken a nose dive due to their poisons. The FDA should be right along beside them as well. And, in the end, once convicted, should be sentenced accordingly that is suitable to their crimes.
We do not need big pharma. We need a new health care system who understands that chemicals are not and never have been the answer to any health issue. This goes to our major food producers as well. All synthetic chemicals used in food should be outlawed immediately. No excuses or exceptions, period!!!

You pay $220.00 for Paxil and the active ingredient only costs $7.60 Prilosec 20mg costs $361.00 for you and the main ingredient only costs $.52. Xanax is $137.00 and is $.24 to make. Claritin is $215.00 and is $.71 for active ingredient. Big mark-ups!

Any antacid is bad for you. You should have acid in your stomach in order to digest and get the nutrition out of your foods. If you have frequent heartburn, you need to see a doctor that will check all you body fluids and functions to find out why you have it. It’s not correct to lower stomach acid.

        • Vicki

The acid in your stomach is VERY useful. Amongst other things it is part of the primary protections of your immune system.

  • Robert

by the way my family doctor who treated me for Arthritis also told me to use drugs as a last resort, and use sparelingly. I rarely am put on drugs because I use diet and exercise to keep me healthy. My current doctor says I will live to a hundred because I know the secret that my former doctor told me.

More proof that we need to keep Big Government off our backs. The Free Market will always give us the best service at the lowest cost. Business knows what is best for us. If Congress had kept their nose out of this in 2008, these so-called “problems” would remain invisible and doctors could keep on prescribing without the burden of more regulations.

  • eddie47d

Big Pharma is mostly the “free market” and they are not cheap. Big Pharma is like a magician who creates an illusion of well being. Then out pops the side effects which “forces” them to create another magic trick to cure the first.

    • JC

The “free market” AND the single largest lobby in Congress…
      hmm probably a correlation there.
Get the government out of the free market!
      And that’s just for starters.

I was being given estrogen and progesterone shots once a month, 2 weeks apart. It was sort of controlling my endometriosis, but my Dr. decided on doing a D & C. It worked, buy I was still having hot flashes. So, he put me on Prempro. The D & C was supposed to have completely stopped all monthly bleeding, which it did. 2 months into the taking of Prempro, I started up again. Shook up both me and my Dr. I immediately stopped taking it and things pretty well stopped after about 6 months later.

Big Pharma has for years sold drugs that they know are dangerous, but they build in future lawsuits costs into the pricing for the drug. Even after the drug is found to be harmful, the FDA refuses to get it off the market immediately so that the drug company can make as much profit as possible before it’s withdrawn. I take no prescription medication and rely on Chinese Herb Doctors and Dr. Jonathan Wright of the Tahoma Clinic in Auburn, WA. to tell me what herbs, vitamins, amno acids and minerals I need to stay healthy and it has worked wonderfully for a number of years. I am very healthy and use diet and exercise for additional safeguards against major diseases. I never take any type of flue shot and don’t drink tap water.

  • Bruce Porter Sr

Hey, what’s this legalize drugs crap???? How is the CIA gonna operate, for badness sakes? And you wanna put the DEA out of business? And what about the FDA? Heck those jokers make up Big Pharma.
You guys are nuts….you are acting like a free people!
Well you will get yours….when the Kenyan opens the Caliphate and gives you sharia law. Then he will declare all natural drugs “unclean”, well, except when he wants his snort of coke. I understand it mixes well with Marlboro.

    • Karolyn

If all the money spent on the “War on Drugs” was used to educate and prevent, we’d all be in a much better boat! (Still don’t agree with you about Obama, though.)

  • Maria

This is a Major problem that effects us all. The Medical and Pharmaceutical industry are killing us. Obesity, diabetes, heart ailments, auto-immune ailments and so much more are now labeled as diseases. But they all have no cures, only drugs to take care of the symptoms. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia three years after an automobile accident and many drugs for pain. Long story short, the drugs (Vioxx, Celebrex, percocet, Oxicodone, and all the rest, were actually killing me. My liver was in trouble and the Rhuematologist was telling me I had sarcoidosis. My medicine cabinet looked like a pharmacy. I decided I had enough. My daughter suggested I look into alternative med. which I did and have been going to accupunturist for 4 years. I have never felt better, with immediate results. Almost all the new meds are very toxic, and none of them will cure you. Keeping people sick and drug dependent is very big business as well as controlling our health. Rent the 2005 movie “The Fugitive” and read “LIVE Disease Free to 103.” Keep yourself alive and well.

How many who were guilty of daydreaming as children and grew out of it
would be given drugs for attention deficit disorder today?

Another big quack group is the bonecrackers, they claim to cure diabetics, hemmaroids, kidney problems, and any other money scams. Same goes for “natural cures”. A diabetic can only be cured by a pancranes and a kidney transplant if it goes to that length. In Denver 15 years ago a natural healer and a bone cracker was telling my brother who had been a type 1 diabetic on insulin for almost 31 years that they could cure him. What bull sh-t. Pot was one of the wonder drugs, he would have gotten keatosis in a day and died in 5 and pissed himself to death, but he would have went out high. Pot is for unmotivated retarded numskulls burn outs. My 70 yr old brother-in-law, just got diagonesed with liver cancer and has between 2 months and maybe 6 months to live. He used pot in the early 60′s in college and all of his life. Only ate wildgame and health food, and was a enviormental inspector for BLM and Ferderal Forest Service Management. He beleived pot was better than any meds and should be used as a free choice drug. Spacy drivers and operators will kill a few more thousand people as drug legalization climbs. Pot stays in the body hours longer than booze and I guess for people who test hot, I don’t don’t feel sorry for them when they get fired.

    • Karolyn

i41 You are just so full of it! When I was going to a chiropractor regularly, I never got backaches and felt great! You obviously know nothing of natural healing, so butt out! I don’t use pot but did back in the 70s. However, it sure sounds like a great idea to use the tea for my hot flashes! If it works, don’t fix it.

    • Robert Smith

Frm i41: “Pot stays in the body hours longer than booze and I guess for people who test hot”

The pot is metabalized relatively quickly with few side effects (ie. no hangover). However the metabaloids (what pot breaks down into) and trace amounts THC do remain in fat cells. Rhat doesn’t continue a high.

As an employer I don’t want to be a policeman. That’s why I only act if a person’s performance indicates there is a problem. Then my actions are based upon their actions while they were at work, NOT something they did at home or on vacation.

As far as slippery slope arguments go they just ain’t valid. Nobody has shown such anymore than the domoino theory kicked in after VN.

Someone recently brought to my attention that, when we are driving on the highway, at least half the drivers on the road are on medication.

    Scary thought.

  • J.Michael

most of you pathetic little morons can’t get off your own ass to do nothing but whine. I’m sick of you all. you’re just regurjustated tiatribe. I don’t think half of you are real. you are just pissed, waiting for some one to change your diaper!!!!!!!

    • JC

Maybe you need to change medications? You seem to have some pretty serious anger issues.

  • THIRD PARTY

TOO many meds not needed, sheeple come and get it.Reminds me of nurse ratchet in one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

  • James

Most Doctors have become mere pimps for the pharmaceutical industry. Most drugs simply mask symptoms, by deadening the nerves which caused the pain, rather than address the real problem. I would suggest we all stop going to doctors, exercise more, and eat more fruits and vegetables. Of course, if you have been shot, stabbed or otherwise mutiliated in our public parks, then go to a doctor.

  • Robert

I say find an honest doctor who will work with you and listen to what you say. when you tell him what they symptoms are you also can ask him what is causing your illness. If he does not know what is causing the illness how does he know what to treat it with? when you go to a mechanic and tell him what is happening he will check out your car and symptoms and fing what is causing your problem and tell you what you need done to the car to repair it and how much it will cosr. he does not guess at what is wrong he inspects the vehicle which is the proper procedure.Doctors should proceed like a mechanic not a clairvoiant.

  • justmy thought

Why don’t we pay doctors to keep us healthy and stop when we get sick!

  • nel

Why is big pharma allowed to swallow up little companies until they are almost a monoply? Phizer is buying King Pharma now. Should the FEC or whoever it is allow it? I dont think so!

Intuition helps accessing the understanding typically not present to our senses.

Call it a still voice, a hunch or a gut feeling – once it starts occurring
you will know it’s no coincidence.!
Dowsing is a technique someone can use to gain access to the intuition employing dowsing pendulum or alternatively divining rod.
I have been doing it for a number of years and I do think everyone can easily learn it.
