Texas Governor Rick Perry May Be Inching Closer To Running For President

June 20, 2011 by

Rick Perry may soon join the race for the White House.A number of prominent political figures have already declared their intentions to run for the Republican nomination for President. However, one man who some believe has a good shot at the nomination — Texas Governor Rick Perry — is still exploring the possibility.

Fox News reports that aides to Perry have begun to explore the Governor’s chances in Iowa, the State that holds the first caucus in the nation. In addition, the news source reports that Perry aides have also looked into whether it is too late to raise sufficient funds for the primary campaign.

Perry has been making headlines recently, holding a number of speeches around the country. On June 12, he made a pro-life speech to an Hispanic anti-abortion group in Los Angeles and, more recently, he spoke at the Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans.

During his speech at the Conference, Perry vowed not to change his position on social issues such as abortion or gay marriage to win favor with liberals.

“Our party cannot be all things to all people, it can’t be. Our loudest opponents on the left are never going to be happy, so let’s stop trying to curry favor for them,” he said.
