Tens Of Thousands Of Euros Shredded At German Waste Plant

MUNICH, Germany (UPI) — Police in Germany said tens of thousands of euros were shredded at a waste disposal site after somehow ending up in the trash.
Investigators said workers at the Moosach waste disposal plant near Munich were running the trash collected from the public through the industrial shredder when shredded Euro notes started coming out of the machine, TheLocal.de reported Wednesday.
Police said the money, which was recovered and is still legal tender, may have been thrown away accidentally, possibly while someone was cleaning out a house without the knowledge of a hidden cache of cash.
“We’re handling this as a lost property case,” police said in a statement Tuesday.
The investigators said they are trying to find the owner of the money, which will go to the employees at the waste disposal site if it remains unclaimed.
