Tea Party Leaders Descend On Washington To Lobby Against Healthcare Reform

March 15, 2010 by

Tea Party leaders descend on Washington to lobby against healthcare reformLocal Tea Party movement leaders travelled to the nation’s capital last week to kick off the Take the Town Halls to Washington project at a press conference on Capitol Hill on March 9.

The event is designed to bring activists to Washington, D.C., during the month of March to meet, question and review the positions of approximately 50 Democratic members of the House of Representatives whose vote on the proposed healthcare legislation has not yet been publicly announced.

Mark Skoda, chairman of the Memphis Tea Party, is among the assembled leaders, and he said that their first goal is to stop this bill from passing by March 18, the deadline reportedly set by the White House.

"We encourage tea party activists from around the country to come to Washington today, tomorrow, this week, and next week," he said. "We have a ‘war room’ set up on Capitol Hill, and every tea party activist in the country is welcome to use that location as a base of operations."

Voters really need to be informed about who they are voting for and what the person is really running on. Barry ran on change. No one asked him what kind of change! They were tired of George Bush and those who voted for Barry wanted something different. It reminds me of the saying…. Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it!

    • angel-wanna-be

Man-O-Man ain’t it the Truth!!_Yeah, We got Change alright__The more I hear about this Health Reform the sicker I get!

  • chuck b

this is something we should all take heed.

Great quote. Too bad we don’t know who wrote it….
The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency. It will be easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to an electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails us. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” — Author Unknown

And I remember watching on that brisk November night when the multitudes gathered in Grant Park to take sight of the spectacle. Tears of joy flowing from the downtrodden and the weak. The savior has arrived. The Hope and Change that was promised is finally here. Hallelujah!!

      • angel-wanna-be

Warrior, Yeah and Dear Michelle Obama said “she was never proud of America until her husband took office as President, if America was a trash heap before he came___That pissed me off!

        • JeffH

angel-wanna-be…very good! Thought I would add a liitle with this link which I found interesting:

Michelle’s speech inspired by radical socialist?

          • angel-wanna-be

JeffH.__That’s quite an article!!__Frankly, I think the reason McCain didn’t ride the facts a little more about Obama’s associations with radicals, he didn’t want to get that dirty participating into a mudsling presidential campaign___But these days a clean campaign is a thing of the past__These idiots In Washington today, will wash, tear up, dig up & ruin peoples lives over a friggin vote__Like I’ve said before__I’ve never seen a more cynical, destructive bunch of politicians in my life than what’s in Washington right now__It’s just plain scary!

      • Hello?

Very good, hit the nail on the head. Only in America will this spoiled generation will believe anything or at least about fifty percent will. Some people you can sell anything without even checking out the product.
I don’t think that we have a chance of survival with all these people in our government and 50% of voters that are willingly able to walk off a cliff without measuring the distance of the fall. It seems that most of this bunch in office now have been prematuraly released from a mental hospital. Only God can save us from this bunch of idiots. We can start next November if it is not too late.

Agreed Warrior:A spectacle is exactly the word for the election of an unvetted man for the honorable seat of President of the USA.Speaker Pelosi desires to tack on student loans on a health reform bill? C’mon. Soundslike someone flew over you know what. This bill should be called the Freedom Violations Bill. Obama seeks to “reassure”the elderly? Shucks, that would happen only if he handed in his resignation. 2,500 pages that read like a mystery novel? I pass. An honest bill would be brief, to the point, and easily understood by
laymen, who will be affected. It is not acceptable to cover the president or congress, but ok for the peons? Oh is that it? Health care needs reforming, but our Constitution does not. Heads up, America!

  • Mark

Healthcare does not need to be reformed, greed however could use some reins. The “reform” is pure communism and socialism. If this gov’t wants to help America, get rid of the millions upon millions of illegals and welfare abusers. We will all have to fly our flag upside down, a sign of distress, brought on by a muslim fool that too many fools voted into a presidency that is now hollow. Don’t piss down my back and tell me it’s rainin’. one shot, one kill.

    • angel-wanna-be

Mark, the Dems will never get rid of the illegals, they’re going to need them vote Democratic, when they lose there base and beginning this year and into 2012 and they know it!

To one and all: Have you read “Men in Black” by Mark Levin, “The Heritage Guide to The Constitution”, or “The Oxford Companion to the Supreme Court of the United States (second edition)”? If you do, you just may reach the conclusion that what has been transpiring is nothing short of a (thus far) bloodless coup. Just as what has been happening along our southern border is, as it’s been called, “The largest peacetime invasion in history”. “The Boiling Frog” allegory comes to mind regarding our educational systems decline and decidedly leftward swerve over the past 60/70 years or so. “Unto the seventh generation” is coming to pass before our very unseeing eyes. Or, so it seems to this observer. BrObama is, in his own mind, the “Closeted 12th Imam”. Doing everything he can to hasten the the worldwide conditions necessary for “His Unveiling”. To quote an old friend: “Paranoia is what they call perceptivity, before you’re proven right”. And, to paraphrase an old song: “And The Left Rants On”.

    • JeffH

MJP, try this on for size…
Obama’s Alinksy Paid Public Homage to Lucifer.

And the connection between Alinsky and Barack Obama—and Alinsky and the left in general—is real enough. As John Fund, author of a newly revised book, Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy, observes, Alinsky, who died in 1972, was a sort of godfather to all the activist groups that emerged in the 60s and 70s, the most famous (or, if you prefer, notorious) of which today is ACORN.

Fund notes that young Hillary Rodham was such a fan of Alinsky that she traveled to Chicago, four times, to interview him for an adulatory school thesis she was writing. And Obama is an on-the-record fan too: Fund quotes The Washington Post’s Peter Slevin, writing in 2007, “Obama embraced many of Alinsky’s tactics and recently said his years as an organizer gave him the best education of his life.” Slevin further noted that Obama’s and Hillary Rodham Clinton’s “common connection to Alinsky is one of the striking aspects of their biographies.”

Tea Party members, and I am one, WANT REFORM, but we DO NOT want a government takeover as they ALWAYS make things worse and increase the costs. We want open marketing of insurance across state lines, less govmt interference.

  • J C

Reform is not the answer since all that is being reformed is the level of government and insurance (cronyism) involvement. We already have too much and that is why it is outrageously expensive. Going to “total” government control is not only wrong headed…it’s communist. Wait’ll you see what it costs when it’s “free”.

  • angel-wanna-be

This massive takeover of healthcare, is going to be just that, a take over!__a take over of 1/6th of the Economy, a take over of our lives, and our bank account numbers__and I’m still not convinced this is even Constitutional for the Federal Government to be able to force us to buy Healthcare, let alone charge us a penalty if we have an accident, if we don’t carry it!___ Mark Levin is totally against it. Pelosi says, we’ll have to wait to find out what the secret is when the health care bill is revealed, is this going to be like a cake, that someone famose is going jump out of?__OMG this sounds like an episode of Sesame Street!__I’m repeating myself here,I posted this somewhere else on_ But You know the Dems are going to make this bill as attractive as they can to large companies with major employees, if this bill is cheaper for them to go public option, we’re all going on public option whether we like it or not_the bigger lie is the Dems still say we’ll have a choice__Yeah we’ll have the choice, as long as the companies we work for stay with what they are doing now!

The US needs to pay for the 50% unfunded fiscal hole in Medicare before it adds another unfunded healthcare program.

Alan Greenspan said that Medicare is 50% unfunded causing amazing debt. During the healthcare summit, Rep Paul Ryan reported that Medicare has a $38 Trillion debt, $260,000 per taxpayer. The most paid per taxpayer is $7,000/yr in 2009. If we doubled taxes now and dedicated half to Medicare, we could pay off our Medicare debt in 38 years. Medicare debt moral: NEVER use debt to pay entitlements.

If the government has no more debt financing of entitlements, the US may avoid going bankrupt; If the government repudiated its debt, the result would be hyperinflation; making money worthless, destroying the middle class and starving our people; this happened to Germany in 1923.

O’Bama and Pelosi would have to increase taxes 229% to pay for their $12.7 Trillion in Welfare ($10.3trillion) and National Health ($2.4trillion) entitlements, $9,000/taxpayer per year. They’re BORROWING it; If we do nothing, can hyperinflation be more than two to four years off?

In August 2009, the Washington Post said that O’Bama’s programs will be an additional $9trillion in the red by 2019. A USA Today story on 5/19/2008 estimated that the household liability for government programs is $61.7 trillion, or $531,472 per household. That is more than four times what Americans owe in personal debt such as mortgages. Tax receipts are down the most since the great depression, yet Mr. O’Bama is increasing spending by 25%. Brian Riedl reports, “in the short term, President Obama has offered a budget that would increase federal spending to a peacetime-record 24.5 percent of GDP by 2019 — not even counting the health care plan. Because tax revenues cannot keep up with this spending growth, the President’s budget would add $9.1 trillion in new debt over the next decade. It would double the national debt to 82 percent of GDP by 2019.”

What will you do about this? Ask your congressman to vote down these entitlements.

If the Democrat leaders in congress wish to have universal healthcare, they might add an additional 20% ‘VAT’ sales tax as the Europeans do. That’s the only option that doesn’t decrease the number of jobs.

  • Raggs

Health care was also Hitlers promise…nough said!

  • Raggs

Yup he is going to bankrupt this country and he knows it.

  • L.USA

Just a drop in a bucket. Oust them and put Republicans back in Government!

  • Norm

Germany has a healthcare system that is cheaper and better than ours. Obviously Hitler had a few good ideas.

  • L.USA

Even with the shill med tech. Hitlers sinister evil exterminated millions of people in western europa and would have in America if he had succeded. Don’t fall for the tricks.

  • JeffH

Normy, some thought Obama’s promise of “CHANGE” was a good idea. Be careful what you wish for.

  • s c

Leave it to an ultraliberal progressive to use Hitler as a role model. At what point do these twits start using Stalin and Mao as population control icons?
Obummer wants us to ignore the FACT that Medicare FRAUD is responsible for $60 BILLION [13% of its 'budget']. Dead MDs are still billing Medicare – and are getting paid for their ‘efforts.’ Congress and the FDA look the other way when over-priced drugs rape American citizens daily.
And yet, Obummer dares to proclaim that only BIG GOVERNMENT can step in and solve all problems [MOST OF WHICH IT CREATED!]. I wouldn’t trust Obummer – or anyone in Washington – to ‘solve’ healthcare. As long as government is involved, corruption and fraud will never be solved. Corruption and fraud keep these pathetic bastards in office!
Ultraliberal progressives, take your fair-haired boy and the rest of your self-made retards and criminal czars, and move all of your sorry asses to Cuba. Good riddance to bad rubbish!

I can only applaud the efforts by the Tea Party people for their consistent objections to the health care hoax being perpetrated by this Jackass party crowd in the congress. This is not socialism but it is communism that is being foisted onto the backs of those in this country.

The Jackass party has made every concieveable underhanded effort to get a position for this scam to pass with some kind of legitamacy, there is none yet and they cannot justify a criminal act and a breech of Constitutional law. There will be repeal, there should be Supreme Court objection, there should be major investigations ongoing and there can be if those elected in November to fill the seats of those being removed from office are made to vow by signing a public contract to remove this atrocity from the books and not fund it.

I hope Americans can realize the battle that is going to ensue even if we manage to regain the strength needed by Real Republicans in the congress, I can tell you it is not easy to maintain your freedoms from a huge, intrusive government that desperately needs to be pared back in major ways and remove entitlements that have not been reviewed in many sessions. If America is to continue to be the land of the free, then we had better free it up by getting control of this monster government.

  • OutragedinTX

What pisses me off is that we as citizens don’t even have a say in it_or have we even seen the bill yet!__They act as if we’re not even talking!!!__The Dems have done nothing but lie to us, yet were suppose to trust these idiots with our very lives,_Medicaid is broke, Medicare is gonna be broke after they remove what is it, 500 million dollars???_(not sure of the figure) out of it to fund this new health bill__I think since Obama’s Chicago cronies think this health care bill is so great, it ought to be mandatory that the suckers in this Administration, the House and Senate have to forgo their current insurance and be forced on this insurance like we’re going to be.__Whats good for the Goose, is good for the Gander!

  • s c

I thought Obummer’s abomination was now up to 3,700 pages of mental sludge that won’t be read or understood by most of the resident rejects in Congress. You could call it a ‘gift that keeps on giving’ (not unlike a mutated STD).
At this stage, Obummer might as well tell his flunkies to make it an even 5,000 pages. From what I’ve seen of this administration, I wouldn’t trust Obummer or any of his stooges to read, understand or remember as much as one page out of 3,700.
How can anyone justify giving any of these devolved cave dwellers minimum wage (let alone midnight pay raises or more than $100,000 per year)?

  • angel-wanna-be

Michelle Malkin is always on the up and up__and a dam good conservative__I don’t nessasariy want to read it either, but if this healthcare bill, indeed does pass and I pray to God it doesn’t, we need to arm ourselves, with some knowledge_ I and a lot of other people had they’re way__we’d kill the bill right where it sits!

Political, hegemony is the predominance of one political unit, or party ruling over others. Examples include a province within a federation ( which slowly enveloped Prussia, Hungary, Poland and many other nations in the German Lie, Such hegemony as in the “Nazi Magyar collaboration”, bringing about the Nazi Empire. This inclusive restrictive racial legislation based upon the Nuremberg Laws, worked its way through Europe) Hegemony could be in the forum of one man also such as a president ,or one person among a committee (Napoleon Bonaparte in the Consulate).

What we see happing in our government today is hegemony by the GOP, we have seen it in the Republican party with Bush and His push for a NWO. What ever the case republican or democratic, it is not the practice of true a democratic process, As a result our nation suffers, Good health care reform policy, starts with the cause, High prices and out of balance cost, and some legislation which will keep both sides at bay.
Socialistic Health care is not the answer. Capping the costs , and opening competitive markets is.

  • JeffH

JC, if people want health care, there should be real reform, not Washington’s version of it. The government has screwed up just about everything they put their signature on and their kind of “government controlled cradle to the grave” HC Bill will be the worst and most damaging piece of legislation this country has ever passed. The insurance companies aren’t the major enemies, it is probably the companies that provide the products, like big pharma as an example that need the reforms. Open the borders for competition between insurance companies, or allow drug prescriptions to be filled internationaly…I’m not even close to knowing much about it, but I’m sure it is much simpler than Obama thinks, but then again, I’m not influenced by money and back door lobbying, and the paybacks they require.

  • JeffH

L, we need to put real Americans into office as the GOP is as responsile for our countries debacle as the Dems. To just say, put republicans back into office doesn’t completely solve the problems, although it might get the socialists out cotrol of our government which is a major priority.

  • JeffH

I will sat this, at least the GOP is responding to the people, unlike the Pelosi/Reid controlled Dems.

  • JeffH

angel-wanna-be, Malkin pretty much pisses them off and she throws bombs, not bullets. She doesn’t paint a rosey picture or sugar coat what she says. She is as sharp as a tack!

Policies virtually identical to these were implemented by:

Mao Zedong (Tse-tung) in 1949 China
    Fidel Castro in 1959 Cuba
