Target Of Alleged Killing Plot Shot Dead

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 16 (UPI) — A young Philadelphia man whose former girlfriend is charged with trying to recruit someone on Facebook to kill him has been gunned down.

Police said Corey White, 22, was shot and killed late Monday near his home in West Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The killing came a few hours after a municipal judge ordered London Eley, 19, of Philadelphia and Timothy Bynum, 18, of Darby held for trial.

Investigators were unsure if the shooting Monday was related to the murder-for-hire case.

Eley, the mother of White’s child, allegedly posted a message on Facebook offering a “stack” — slang for $1,000 — to anyone who would kill him. Bynum allegedly responded, saying he needed the money.

The pair exchanged several messages. They were arrested June 12 after someone notified police about the online exchange.
