Syndrome X: The Sugar Disease

Syndrome X: The Sugar Disease

All the chronic diseases of aging thread their roots back to sugar consumption. Of all the species, the human race has a very high proclivity to sugar addiction and sugar dependence. Doctors will issue a bag full of prescription drugs and never once say “stay off of all sugar.”

What is sugar? Sugar is any substance that has a glycemic index. Any food or substance that has a glycemic index can disturb insulin balance in the body.

It follows then that the more sugar or carbohydrate consumption, the more insulin balance is disturbed. Any sugar or any food or any substance out of which the body can make sugar directly affects insulin balance.

There are many, many ways to disguise sugar or divert one’s attention from sugar. Most supermarket manufactured foods are loaded with sugar usually in small print. The big diverter, “low fat” or “no fat” is nearly always in bold or set out in a box or different color on the label.

The manufacturers know that the public has been thoroughly programmed against fat consumption. So if they print “no fat,” the customer is drawn to the product most often loaded with sugar.

Sugar is now not only used as a sweetener but as a filler to build volume in “food product.” High fructose corn syrup, a major ingredient, is an extremely sweet filler widely used and deadly to insulin balance.

And would you believe that the only product with no glycemic index is outlawed by the FDA as a sweetener-stevia! Stevia does not disturb insulin but due to FDA regulations, it cannot be marketed as a sweetener, only as a dietary supplement.

Now, let’s talk about just one chronic disease that traces back to sugar consumption. Syndrome X-60 to 75 million Americans have it and according to Dr. Gerald Reaven, M.D., discoverer of Syndrome X, it is the number one predictor of heart disease.

And that good diet prescribed by your cardiologist can be deadly. If you have Syndrome X, carefully dieting to lower your total cholesterol or LDL cholesterol won’t solve your problem. In fact, it may make a heart attack even more likely.

Syndrome X is a very quiet malady that interferes with the ability of insulin to move glucose (sugar) into certain cells for later use. Unknown millions of heart attacks have been caused by the failure of insulin to do its job.

Insulin resistance is at the heart of Syndrome X. This is why simply lowering HDL and LDL cholesterol won’t solve the problem as is universally prescribed by American physicians.

About 25 to 30 percent of Americans are resistant to their own insulin. This means that greater amounts of insulin are required to get the job done. Unfortunately, excess insulin is the first in a series of events to trigger damage to the lining of the coronary arteries that eventually precipitates a heart attack.

Therefore, more carbohydrates (sugar) equals more glucose, equals more insulin, equals the formula for disaster. For each 30 percent elevation in insulin levels, there is a 70 percent increase in risk of heart disease over a five-year period.

Syndrome X or insulin resistance is a cluster of abnormalities that is directly related to heart disease but seems to be unknown to the medical establishment.

According to Dr. Gerald Reaven, M.D., in his book Syndrome X, The Silent Killer, he outlines the complete list of heart disease risk factors for people with Syndrome X.  This list includes known risk factors for heart disease including the risk factors for Syndrome X-important!

Syndrome X Risk Factors:

  • Impaired glucose tolerance.
  • High insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia).
  • Elevated triglycerides (blood fats).
  • Low HDL “good” cholesterol.
  • Slow clearance of fat from the blood (exaggerated postprandial lipemia).
  • Smaller, denser LDL “bad” cholesterol particles.
  • Increased propensity of the blood to form clots.
  • Decreased ability to dissolve blood clots.
  • Elevated blood pressure.

Lifestyle factors that worsen Syndrome X:

  • Obesity
  • Lack of physical activity
  • The wrong diet
  • Cigarette smoking
  • High intake of sugar/carbohydrates

The additional independent risk factor is higher than normal LDL cholesterol.

Notice the differences. The Syndrome X heart disease risk factor list includes the rate at which fat clears from the blood, not just the amount of fat in the blood. It also considers the formation and clearance of blood clots, and the physical characteristics of LDL cholesterol (not just the amount). The very important lifestyle factor mentioned above is high consumption of sugar or carbohydrates.

Heart attacks are two to three times more likely to happen after a high carbohydrate meal and are specifically NOT likely after a high-fat meal. Why? Because the immediate effect of raising blood sugar from sugar or a high carbohydrate meal is a rise in insulin. This causes arterial spasm and constriction of the arteries triggering heart attacks.

Substitute stevia for sugar as much as you can. Too much sugar consumption leads to the body’s overproduction of insulin. This is the basis of the chronic disease of aging and Syndrome X.

Ignorance of sugar guarantees more and more degenerative disease, oppression, and more murder and suffering at the hands of government, the pharmaceutical and medical cartels. Ignorance of sugar is the absolute foundation of economic collapse nationally and financial poverty individually. Ignorance of sugar is at the root of social breakdown and a drugged society, broken homes and the forcing of drugs on school children.

The sugar disease is the biochemical basis of all degenerative disease, especially heart disease, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s.

Why are we not being told about sugar? Because it would mean far better and widespread health and happiness, and therefore far less trillions of dollars flowing to the medical monopoly.

Sugar is America’s number one addiction, beginning with little babies. May God liberate us from this curse that plagues the world but most especially Americans.

I am a 88 year old ultra Conservative who has run for Congress 8 times and I campaigned by walking the District and never asking for money and staking my program on well written Position Papers.   Personally, I feel we are only days away from the absolute end of the United States as we know it today and I don’t feel we can stop our demise

    • Hank

You are correct that we are in the beginning stages of the end of the empire as we have known it. We should not be surprised – if one studies history and the rise and fall of empires, it is a natural result of a totally corrupt, screwed up and moronic society. We should rejoice in the demise of this corporate democracy and the supporter fools of it and out of its ashes will arise a more righteous, true republic based upon sense and fairness. Prepare to survive and just let the system collapse of its own corrupt weight. Then say good ridance of it – it is long overdue.

      • Doug

        Hank:
Your proposition to “Just let the corporate democracy die” is saying, all those who died to defend our Individaul liberty were fools. I vehemently disagree with you. This is not a Corporate Democracy. It is a Republic founded on principles of individual liberty. You are either ignorant of the US Constitution or you are one of those seeking to destroy what made this nation the Greatest to ever exist (It was not MARXIST/COMMUNIST CRAP, that you must admire) Perhaps you are one of those “Domestic Enemies” spoken of in my Oath of Office. You could even be a Marxist/Communist. Whatver you are, you do not sound like a Patriot. Think about it! People without jobs are prey to Communists, Fascists and any leftists whacko propaganda. Democrats know that Poverty Breeds more victims, more victims vote for Communists/Democrats. People who can pay their bills and put food on the table never fall for Communist crap. Democrats have worked for 50 years to undermine, subvert and close any EMPLOYMENT Related business, organization or corporation. Democrats forced millions of American workers on to the Federal Dole to further their Communist/Fascist Agenda. It is all about THEM. It is all about Democrats retainng power. I firmly believe.Government deciding whether or not you get medical care, gives the Government too much power. Placing a Communist/Socialist government in charge of anything invites corruption, graft, vanishing citizens and a perpetual Communist dictatorship. In my opinion, your statement (and all those like it) is a form of Treason. When a Revolutionary Martial Law Military tribunal is re-constituted, you may be asked to elaborate on your statement.

  • Fanta

I agree with The_Marion’s note. I am 56, black from
Africa who was once an exchange student. Contrary to what most people consider, I do not support Obama simply because he is a socialist in his economic philosophy. No country whose economic philosophy is Marxist-Leninist has ever come close to the U.S. so why be followers of the defunct principles of failure governments? Is it not after Russia and China ushered in a little bit of capitalism that their economy revived? Hope the people of America wake up and stop this madness of so called “democratic agenda” that is designed to overthrow the ideals of the American dream.

    • Nancy

I agree with all of you. Shame on the American citizens who voted so uninformed, and those who knew better, but couln’t take the time from their busy days(aren’t we all busy), to go out and vote. Our children and grandchildren may not know how prosperous and free it was.

      • Sam

I did not vote! I was not busy, I just did not think my vote counted any more and any way who would I have voted for?

        • Peggy

Sam, in essence what you are saying is that you would throw away a precious, priceless gift, because you felt undeserving and didn’t feel that you are intelligent enough to make a rational decision. This is the problem with most conservatives! Will we ever take a stand, will we ever be able to bring back our great Nation from the brink of despair? God help us, because it seems we can’t help ourselves!

        • Karin

I voted for Nader. I don’t believe in ‘throwing away’ your vote, no matter how corrupt the elections are. The only way to get some progress in a 3rd party or even fair elections, is to keep voting and most importantly KNOW the candidate you are choosing.
Don’t vote Obama because he’s the same skin color as you (Does anyone realize he is 1/2 white too?), look at his corrupt policies and then decide. Anyone who picked him should be kicking themselves now.. just look at Vilsack (sec. of agri. – closely linked to pro-GMO businesses and giant agri-firms, likely to promote syndrome X… ) and keeping Gates as Sec of Defense. Come on people! Wake up to the madness taking place. We need REAL change, not this phony ‘green/carbon-neutral’ BS campaign.

        • Doug

Before Hitler took over Germany and the NASIS Fascists took power, German Jews did nothing when Hitler demanded everyone turn in their guns. They also did nothing when so-called dangerous elements in society were apprehended and exectued. Then when Hitler ordered all Jews to wear the Star of David on their clothing, they complied. When Hitler’s demons came for them, German Jews were helpless to defend themselves. NASIS enslaved and then murdered millions of Jews in Gas Chambers and roasted Jews in the ovens. How did that happen? Mind Control among the people and God Like Media Worship of Adolph Hitler. That sounds very familiar to me. Maybe it was because (Much as the Nasis did for Hitler in the 1920s and 1930s) U.S. News Media portrayed Barrack Obama as a Saint or one worthy or Devine Worship during the election. They tagged him with titles that only GOD is worthy of. Among those titles were, “The One, The New Massiah, God Like Aura surrounding HIM, Almost a Devine Image on Stage, Christ like adoration from his followers”. So, is history repeating itself only on a much greater scale? Don’t like what you are seeing, the rememebr that it is people who DID NOT VOTE who are responsible for far left radical Marxist/Socialists gaining office. Marxists/Communists took over in Russia and created an EVIL Empire, the Soviet Union. During its existence, statistics prove that more than 35-million innocent people were murdered by Joseph Stalin and other Communist dictators in the Soviet Union. Therefore, because of the extreme slaughter perpetrated by Communists wherever they took control, the term Communist was changed to Socialist because Communism has too much innocent blood on its hands.even for the most liberal minded individuals to stomach. So, a Socialist is actually a Communist with a new name. The goal
remains the same “Totalitarian Dictatorship” where free of choice does not exist. Where thsoe who disagree are dragged from their homes by government and vanish. What?? Can never happen here?? That’s what German Jews thought. That is what patriotic Cambodians thought.. The only way such evil will happen here is to forget who we are and allow Communist/Socialist thugs to control everything. That is why the Right to Vote exists. So, nest time vote but make sure yoru ballot is cast on ta paper ballot and not on a computer. Computer Programs can be tampered with. A paper Ballot usually is not unless Democrats want to discern the voters’s intention in a re-count. So, remember, do not go quietly in the long night of Communist Crap. VOTE NOW because ELECTIONS DO MATTER!!

        • Terry

I agree with Doug whole-heartedly. But from things I”ve read….it may nearly be TOO LATE. One article told of 800 detention centers across the U.S. that are already set up on sites of defunct military bases. The bill that was passed to do this, claims that they are to be “emergency centers” for people in time of terrorist attack, etc. COME ON……Doesn’t that make you wonder WHO ARE THEY REALLY FOR??? Don’t believe me? Go to the following web site….then READ & WORRY:

          http://www.apfn.org/apfn/camps1.htm

The web site also lists all the powers of the president and the locations of these detention camps.

      • Lyn Bennett

With ACORN working so hard and possibly with corrupt tactics and Black Panther’s standing outside polling places intimidating people, what kind of election is this. It sounds like something from a corrupt, undemocratic country. Now ACORN stands to get money from the “stimulus bill” and one of the rescued banks has donated 2 million to them. If they are found guilty in the voter fraud investigation do you think they will give the money back?

        • Doug

Perhaps is it time to rent Doctor Zhivago from the Video Store and observe the Communists in action. Pay particular attention of the part where Dr. Zhivago finally gets back home and finds numerous strangers living in his home. He must steal firewood to keep his family warm. As shown in Doctor Zhivagto, Communists &
Socialists Breed Poverty on a massive scale. Want poverty in your life? VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS and fall for that Communist/Socialist crap. That is exactly what Russian Premier Vladimir Putin warned the president to avoid like the plague recently. Premier Putin said that Obama was abandoning what made America
Great. for failed Socialist policies of the past. he also said that Socialism breeds massive government dependence, downward spiraling economy, loss of Individual liberty and horrible nationalized heealth care. Putin advised Obama to get back on the path to prosperity and liberty and the shin Communist Socialism.
That is why ELECTIONS MATTER! You will get more than you bargained for
if you do not VOTE. When you do vote, you may want to investigate each candidate’s background. Demand that the media accurately portray the candidate’s past. You have the ABSOLUTE Right to Know the candidate’s past record because Elections Matter! And, because ELECTIONS MATTER, I vote. Unfortunately, too many others did not in the last election.

        • Doug

You are right about ACORN. Unfortunately, with Obama now the President, chargesof Voter Fraud will probably be slipped under the rug and vanish. After all, Instead of being prosectued Under RICO Statutes (Federal laws to combat organized crime) ACORN is slatedto get 4.5 Billions Taxpayer Dollars to Reward their Organized Criminal Activity. It is pay back to make sure they have enough money to NOT GET CAUGHT NEXT TIME. I think believe that both ACORN and the ACLU are seditious fringe Communist Front organizations. In my opinion, ACORN and the ACLU should be charged with sedition; computers confiscated and all their records reviewed to determine the extent of the subversion and sedition against the United States Constitution. Each ACORN manager/community organizer should be arrested on Voter Fraud Charges. Every ACLU Lawyer, including the one now on the US Supreme Court, should be arrested and incarcerated until the extent of their treason can be accurately determined.

Great article. Even here at work I watch people shoving Twinkies and muffins down their throats, then complaining about how bad they feel. Their response? They go to the doctors for some sort of magic pill that will make all the bad stuff go away. The FDA is probably the most corrupt organization around.

  • Bob Livingston

Twinkies and muffins are the American way!  We have a nation of diabetes and obesity (not to mention dozens of other ‘diseases’.)  Much of this could be CURED with simple diet changes.  Unfortunately, most so-called foods are just sugar-filled junk.

And yes, most conventional medicine only treats symptoms, not the true disease.
    Bob.

  • robert Young

You got it right.    ( however, I love pasterys )
Trying hard to break the bad habit…
I am keeping more veggies and fruits around, and asking the wife to keep thoes sweets out of here.  It don’t work, some maybe.
    Still trying, bye.

ps, Love your Financial Letters.  Very good.

If Corporate America knew that the very material they sold would be used to hang their own mother they would still do so in order to make a buck!

  • Terry Neal

Wondering how sugar is the “absolute foundation of economic collapse nationally “?

Fully understand how sugar destroys health, but finance – completely?

  • Judy

sugar>sluggish thinking>laziness>poor judgement>elect wrong people>get socialism which is going to take our money away and give it to the twinky eaters.

    • Nancy

      Judy wonderful!

With the demise of the Republican Party – Whether Obama has 4 or 8 years the next
person leading the US will be a dictator.  A left leaning Democrat.
Two staunch conservatives in my family – one voted for Alan Keyes the other did a
write in vote for Ron Paul.   God help us all!

  • David

Ignoring all the off-topic comments, I have to say there is both more and less to the sweetener thing than discussed.

High Fructose Corn Syrup, Aspartame, Sucrilose: all of these have one major drawback–they cannot be properly processed by the liver and will, over time, cause liver failure. This is at least as important as this so-called “Syndrome X.”

Sugar itself–unprocessed sugar–is less dangerous than any of these artificial sweeteners. White sugar is processed; bleached, chemicals added, chemicals removed, etc… it is not natural and can be involved with health problems. But unprocessed sugar is natural and reasonably healthy as long as you eat a balanced diet and don’t go to any extremes in any direction. it is just as easy to eat too little sugar as it is too much. Eating no sugar at all is just as bad for your body’s insulin as eating too much.

You must balance your diet. Get your proteins. Get your green, yellow and other vegetables for the iron and vitamins they provide. And yes, eat your dessert made with natural sugar. A reasonable slice of pie or cake can really round out that balanced meal.

    • Phyllis

Unprocessed sugar is not a must. All carbohydrates turn into sugar in our systems. These too must be eliminated to a degree if health is to prevail. High protein foods are a must and cutting red meat from a diet is not warranted, it gives us niacin which is the memory vitamin. All the hype about red meat is causing many older people to keep from eating it and causing alzeimers. Let’s all turn our backs on whoever “they” are and eat like we used to in the 1800′s! Home grown and lots of meat and veggies

      • Tony

Contradiction in Phyllis’s post. As all carbohydrates turn into glucose/glycogen, why are they bad? Excess of meat can’t be absorbed but eliminated.

I challenge anyone to look and feel as young as I. Yet I eat a ton of fat-rich icecream and sugar. I suspect any broad statement regarding some food’s good or bad potential. Listen to your body. If it feels good after eating something, that food can’t be that bad.

OK I like icecream and chocolate. But I eat lots of veggie and natural food except lard. No bacon and donut for me. They make me feel bad afterward.

  • http://canadianactionparty.ca craigbatley

    Terry Neal,

Google “Archer Daniels Midland…a study in corporate welfare.

Also very relevent to this situation….”The sugar problem”…the dangers of refined sugar.
There is quite a bit of corallary there………that you would all find useful.
My my space site has some interesting stuff also…more political.
This is one of the big issues. I think Mr. Neal especially would find the ADM data and would give him a specific target and stable data to base any reseach he is collecting.

If you have heart disease do you need to stay away from beer and red wine? I like beer and red wine and I work out on a regular basis but I also have heart disease. I have tried to find out how much sugar is in wine or beer but can’t seem to find those numbers

what do you recommend I do?

    Randy

  • Robert

Do you know the root cause of degenerative disease… heart disasters… cancer… diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease? . . . . Ya, it is called High Fructose Corn Syrup, banned in almost the rest of the World , except the United States. And , it is in almost everything we consume. from bread to peanut butter. Why , because it is CHEAPER than sugar. Plus , you might as well add obesity to the list above too.

Food the downfall of our first parents and is the dowfall of our current generations.
Brainwashing by food and the desire to eat to give ourselves a few minutes of satisfaction. Most of us Americans don’t really realize that it is even a issue, its all we know, it’s not considered illegal, if its not illegal them there can’t be anything wrong with it right? My son said, mom caffeine isn’t illegal its allright, my country wouldn’t lead me wrong,” deception from the times we are babes. We can’t eat as we please anymore. On Monday, December 1, a
SWAT team with semi-automatic rifles entered the private home of
the Stowers family in LaGrange, Ohio, herded the family onto the
couches in the living room, and kept guns trained on parents,
children, infants and toddlers, from approximately 11 AM to 8 PM.
The team was aggressive and belligerent. The children were quite
traumatized. At some point, the “bad cop” SWAT team was
relieved by another team, a “good cop” team that tried to
befriend the family. The Stowers family has run a very large,
well-known food cooperative called Manna Storehouse on the
western side of the greater Cleveland area for many years.

There were agents from the Department of Agriculture present,
one of them identified as Bill Lesho. The search warrant is
reportedly supicious-looking. Agents began rifling through all of
the family’s possessions, a task that lasted hours and resulted
in a complete upheaval of every private area in the home. Many
items were taken that were not listed on the search warrant. The
family was not permitted a phone call, and they were not told
what crime they were being charged with. They were not read their
rights. Over ten thousand dollars worth of food was taken,
including the family’s personal stock of food for the coming
year. All of their computers, and all of their cell phones were
taken, as well as phone and contact records. The food cooperative
was virtually shut down. There was no rational explanation, nor
justification, for this extreme violation of Constitutional
    rights.

Presumably Manna Storehouse might eventually be charged
with running a retail establishment without a license. Why then
the Gestapo-type interrogation for a 3rd degree misdemeanor
charge? This incident has raised the ominous specter of a
restrictive new era in State regulation and enforcement over the
    nation’s private food supply.

  • Neil

It isn’t just refined sugar. This mean staying away from refined flour and grains as well. Eat low on the Glycemic Index whenever possible. If everyone were to eat more of a Paleolithic Diet like our ancestors did we would be much healthier. Medical professionals would point to Paleo-Mans short life span and say his diet was the cause, when really it was the hostile environment he lived, hunted and gathered in.

  • http://piedmonthudson.wordpress.com/ jlounsbury59

A comment to Phyllis: Your comment reveals hidden meaning to the statement, “I forgot to eat my meat.”

A comment to all sugar avoiders: Unprocessed carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, nuts and grains) do add a little sugar to the human existence, but they have many other nutrient values. Many processed carbohydrates lose significant nutrient value in the course of processing, and increase the amount of sugar production in metabolism.

    Good article and comment stream.

I’ve had a long love-hate relationship with sugar. I simply can not tolerate it. My body rebels physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I incorporate 3 mainstays in just about every meal…avocado, black olives, and nuts. To my great fortune I love them!! I learned recently that they are probably my best friends. I also cut out red meat. My tummy was relieved almost immediately.

Getting the sugar out of the system takes about 72 hours, depending on how dependent you are on it, but once out cravings stop. I actually get hungry now….with real hunger pangs…not just wild-eyed and frantic romps for anything sweet!! I actually have control now. Unless you’ve suffered from the addictive side effects of sugar you can’t understand. You know you aren’t hungry but you can not stop thinking about what ever sweet treat has taken over your mind. You know you shouldn’t but you give in and then the guilt hits….but 30 minutes later the dance starts all over again.

I’ve been aware of the sugar connection to disease for over 30 years and for that long I’ve battled the addiction. For many years I would be a victor…and then spend years trying to get control of my life again. I wish this could be broadcast far and wide and get the same attention as AIDS research and support.

Interesting that some of you took the opportunity to talk about the US presidency, in particular Obama’s. I agree w/ you guys. He is totally a CFR man, & that means a globalist. He is surrounded by other globalists, not to mention Zionists, as Joe Biden has openly admitted as being one. His views & in a large part his background & leanings are socialist, Marxist, Leninist, & thus those of a collectivist. He is no Martin Luther King Jr. nor does he even come close to our best presidential material thus far, JFK. He shouldn’t even be compared to neither of these men, which are by all means, the real-thing. They don’t make them like that anymore. However, we have an opportunity now to continue to let them know, that we know, & that we are going ask from them to stop conning, to stop lying, to stop stealing, to stop taking away our liberties, & to stop desecrating the Constitution & our republic in our name. So far Ron Paul has been right on the money – & to the penny.

    AMEN!

Fat free also equals SODIUM ENHANCED!

Watch and read your labels everyone…

Stay under 150 carbs a day and see how you feel.

Type II Diabetes…I have found the lower I go the worse I feel.

SO, eat those veggies, stay away from the Donuts and pancakes, eat that meat!

A regime of baked turkey, stewed beef, baked chicken and broiled fish….helps a great deal!!!

Good luck with the sweeteners, whichever one you use…..

One of the biggest problems with sugar and starch is that they feed candida yeast in the body. With the overuse of antibiotics, high stress levels and high sugar diet , yeast can grow out of control in the intestinal tract. Good bacteria in the gut that’s necessary for optimal health becomes largely crowded out by this yeast. The mycotoxins these yeast produce overflow into the body causing all kinds of problems such as autoimmune disorders like fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivies, arthritis, skin diseases and even some forms of cancer, just to name a few. Yeast is often the source of carb craving. The best way to eliminate yeast is to 1) starve it…no grains, no sugar except for a few good veggies and fruits 2) kill it with natural antifungals like olive leaf, oil of oregano and coconut oil 3) repopulate the colon with good probiotics. This regimen has helped me reverse my problem with irritable bowel syndrome and some other yeast related issues. For more information go to knowthecause.com.

It is well-known for me now about 20+ years that almost every diseases in the U.S. have something to do with the Evil Empire (aka: US government) and its lackeys.
They want reduce population by bad foods, polluted, chemical-enchanced water supply (you need to eat and drink many times a day).
Forced acceptance of homosexuality, forced abortion and food poisoning, along with chemical-added drinking waters part of this devilish plan.
The U.S. government is the ‘great satan’, as defiend earlier. The biggest threat to freedom, well-being all over in he world, not just in the USA!
