Swindling Futurity

August 11, 2011 by

With the signing of the debt-ceiling deal reached by a Congress that sold out its Tea Party supporters, President Barack Obama has accelerated the United States along its path to economic ruin.

Neither in this universe nor in any alternate universe is it logical to choose to increase spending to solve a problem caused by already profligate spending. Tea Party members and Austrian economists understand this. The political elites either do not understand or, more likely, do not care.

They choose to continue kicking the can down the road while inflation robs the savings of average Americans.

The Founders understood this, though. Thomas Jefferson wrote: “The principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale.”

Our future is being swindled; it has been for a very long time. 2012 can’t get here fast enough. The elites will be shocked by the results of that election.

You forgot the ending to this sentence;”They choose to continue kicking the can down the road while inflation robs the savings of average Americans.” that goes …as The Excessively Affluent (as in TEA Party) continue to line their pockets.
Yes, the conservatives continue to support the redistribution of wealth upward to the very few.

    • 45caliber

      Doc”

I really wish you were right. Then I’d be “excessively affluent” too.

      Unfortunately I’m not.

You would be much more appreciated on Huffington. Why not go there and stay? You’d make everyone happier.

      • Doc Sarvis

I don’t go to sites to be “appreciated”. I go to sites to share important perspectives that consumers of the site would miss out on. You should not fear the truth.

        • Wapitiman

But you do not seem to be a bearer of the truth. Your original statement was a supposition, not a fact!

          • http://RenderRanch.com Zermoid

Overtaxing “the rich”, whoever that is, is stupid in a time of massive unemployment.
When’s the last time you were hired by a poor person?

      • s c

45caliber, D is very consistent when it comes to having at least one foot in in his large mouth. If you will recall, we’re being told by the whiz kids in Washington that inflation is close to ZERO. Now, if everything the Washington whiz kids say is ALWAYS accurate (hmmmmm), then HOW is it that the ‘average American’ is being victimized by inflation?
D is predictable. He knows little about almost everything. He can’t stop flapping his mouth, and we’re supposed to see him as a caring, compassionate, savvy so-and-so who is willing to convert others to his ‘belief system.’
There’s nothing that a high colonic and a 20 mile hike with a 150 pound field pack wouldn’t ‘cure’ in D’s case. In D’s world, if you’re not happy with his ready-made utopia (and his ‘gods’ in the W H), then there’s something deeply ‘wrong’ with anyone who can’t appreciate the many joys of that “utopia.”

This goes back 100 years… The Tea Party as we know it has only been around a few years! Where the hell is your reasoning? The only thing the Tea Party accomplished in Washington was to reduce the amount of “overspending”! Which has got us where we are today “BROKE”! The Tea Party didn’t stop this Prez from spending in 4 days more than what was spent between two Pres’s from 1950-1960! With the adjustment for inflation included! And, also just because your mind tells you that you are right, that doesn’t mean you aren’t wrong:)

Doc, with age sometimes comes wisdom.

A true intellect when presented with a problem and all possible solutions will always choose the wrong one.

  • http://www.easyinvest.co.za peter

How can they be shocked Bob?, they already have their puppet in place who will do their bidding or else. It does not matter whether he/she is a Conservative or a Liberal. It only matters that the puppet obey and doom the average American into servitude. One can choose and the choice is simple – if you cannot lick them, join them, which means that there will be two classes only; the rich and the poor, nothing in between.

Military rule? dictatorship? Call it what you like,it is here and we are’nt going anywhere but down, down, down the tube. Happy sailing.

In my opinion, Barack Obama, a Muslim, upon his election with his “change America” theme was trying to destroy the United States from the get go. He has done everything in his power to circumvent the constitution on every turn. He has all but destroyed the economy, he has started wars we had no reason being in (Lybia), he wants to strip us of our protection (gun control) and he wants to be Americas first dictator. So far he has done very well accomplishing his goal. We, as American patriots, need to stop him before it’s too late!

I am all for the Tea Party. I think it is the only solution to getting us back to reason! We should NOT have increased the debt limit. I think we were sold out by the Republicans on that score. No thinking person can reasonably believe that adding more debt will solve our problems. If anyone, as private citizens, tried paying one credit card by charging another credit card found out. IT JUST DOESN’T WORK!! All you get is deeper in debt!

    • Doc Sarvis

There is no reason to think that President Obama is a Muslim. Even if he was not a Christian that does NOT make him unamerican or a bad leader.
I agree we have no more business in Libya, I don’t know if getting involved there at the start of the unrest was wise or not. We also need to be completely out of Iraq and Afghanistan. President Obama brought combat troops out of Iraq ahead of schedule – let’s bring them all home. Now that troops under President Obama’s command have killed Osama b. L. we should get out of Afghanistan. President Obama was not the President that diverted most of our troops after 9/11 to the useless war/occupation in Iraq when more should have been devoted to Afghanistan early on. President Obama also did not put in place the huge military expense in those two wars without any immediate sacrifice by the curretn American taxpayer; putting the burden to generations down the road.
President Obama also did not cause the big economic collapse of 2008 as he was not even President until January of 2009. He has helped to stop the downward spiral the economy was in when he took office. The current downturn is an result of how very bad the crash of 2008 was and how badly it shook investor’s confidence in the economy. He has attempted to attack our budget woes by asking the very wealthy to contribute more to our economy and take away their tax incentives to ship jobs overseas only to be denied by the conservatives in congress and some Deomocrats.
      Be Real.

the president thought he was a Muslim before George “corrected” him…
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2o2fKbLJc8

        • Doc Sarvis

Obviously a mistake in an interview not a proclaimation of faith. He has been attending Christian churches all of his adult life and frequently talks about his Christian faith/ideals. Again, even if he was a Muslim what would that matter? It is the radical fringe of that religon and other religons that are the problem.

          • Ron

If obomma is a christian, Why is he celebrating “Ramadan” ? A definate musslim holiday, a very religous holiday. About another statement of Obommawanting to be dictator of the U.S. He wanted to be dictdator of the world, why else would he campaign last election, in Germany,a country of several dictators {Hitler, Stalin,in e.Germany} His campaign wa in several other European countries. They have lost respect for him, so he has to settle for being dictator of the U.S. Back to his muslim ties, why does he spend more about bragging about the virtues of Islam, and only uses slight comments of christianity when it is convient in a speech to the hartland.
            /

      • 45caliber

No, being Muslim does not make Oblama a bad leader and unAmerican. He was already that.

        • Doc Sarvis

          No proof = no point.

          • Jyrine

You are nothing but a smart-ass Doc.

      • Jyrine

You are so smart Doc. What would us stupid conservatives do without your boundless insight and profound observations.

  • Ray

Their plan on destroying this Wondererful Country is coming together. We need change but not Obama’s change, a change back to times that defined the true values of our creators.

    • Doc Sarvis

The founding fathers had their good qualities but let’s please not go back to the “true value” of slavery.

      • 45caliber

        Doc:

WHy is it that whenever someone mentions the Founding Fathers, you bring up slavery?

When Oblama is brought up, you don’t mention him being Muslim or being a bad President. You try to mention his good features (golf, for instance).

Yet you ONLY mention the bad things about the Founding Fathers, as if that is their only feature.

        • Doc Sarvis

Please reread the first phrase of my first sentence above acknowledging good qualities of the founding fathers.
I have NEVER said anything about golf on this site let alone anything about President Obama and golf.

          • Jyrine

            Touchy, touchy.

  • http://yahoo.com Albert Maslar

The bad news is that government spending continues to spiral out of control and every $1 Trillion in projected ten year savings masks the fact that the actual saving of that $1 Trillion over one year is a mere $100 Billion of a $1.5 Trillion annual deficit, less than a 10% reduction of the annual deficit. The Amish like to say, “The faster I go, the behinder I get.”

A joint bipartisan congressional committee of 12 to be formed as part of legislation that averted a government default will make recommendations by November on how to cut $1.5 trillion more in spending over ten years. Obama will belatedly offer his ideas for fixing the problems but insisted for the need to raise taxes on wealthy jet owning Americans.

Taxes cannot be raised enough to solve the problem of too much spending that is supported by borrowing over 40 cents for every dollar spent, and thereis no end in sight, it only gets worse every year for as far ahead as one can see.

Obama and Democrats (there is a difference) think any spending cuts are draconian. Senate Leader Harry Reid went on record saying he would rather shut down the government than cut spending to Planned Parenthood that does 330,000 abortions every year. If that doesn’t say something bad about America and its “values,” nothing does.

Who do they think will pay the final tab? Look at Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal who cannot afford to pay all the socialist benefits to non-producers.

Looking past one’s nose, politically unreachable budget cuts of the total $3 Trillion goal would still double the previous$14.3 Trillion National Debt Limit in ten years…And then what?

Unemployment might not sufficiently recover to boost tax revenues. And compounded by geometrically increasing business inhibiting government mandates and regulations, business may not continue to sufficiently expand, hire, and prosper as necessary to solve all the debt related problems…Maybe the sky is falling.

Hopefully this leadership and the administration will be removed from office long before this election in “12″ take place. There are many allegations that are now to hot to stop, the BC the SS# and now intellect of the Mysery Man himself is coming to the forefront, as happened on a FOX program last night. Why the question of his GPA wasn’t a part of this conversation is because that too is under legal restraint but if the pressure for this information continues then before this election takes place he will have to produce the valid information….

  • dqfreemind

Who is this idiot calling himself Doc Sarvis? How out of touch is this guy? Obviously he doesn’t read the articles.
Here we are discussing economic ruin and all he can do is defend Obama and what religious faith Obama is. Irrelevant. But then the Liberal mind loves avoiding facts, distorting truth and dodging the real issues.

He has also been instructed by Rachel Maddow on the Tea Party, once again ignoring facts.
Doc, nobody here gives a sh– what you think and if we wanted to listen to the moronic point of view all we need to do is watch Bill Mahr.

    • Doc Sarvis

I read the article and made the first comment on it to this string. Your comments may be referring to my response to the post by Robert A Hirschmann.

      • Jyrine

Nobody likes Trolls yank-off. Why don’t you go to a commie site where you will be appreciated.

        • Doc Sarvis

Here is what I told 45c; “I don’t go to sites to be “appreciated”. I go to sites to share important perspectives that consumers of the site would miss out on. You should not fear the truth.” It goes for you too.

      • Robert A Hirschmann

Hey Doc. Have you seen the video of Obama admitting that he was Muslim? Here it is:

        http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=tCAffMSWSzY#t=28

OK so that’s settled. What about the rest of what I wrote? Doesn’t that count?

  • Jyrine

In case they don’t let my last message through Doc, I fear nothing you spineless know-it-all punk.

    • Doc Sarvis

Ahhh, sooo defensive and hostile. Keep working on your “issues” – there is hope.

      • Doc Sarvis

        Like I said…

        • FollowerofJesusChrist

All tha you have said is half truths, or lies.

          • Ron

if the truth ever comes out about Hussain Obomma, it will read like a cloak and dagger story, set in a science fiction genra.

Certain people here remind me of one of the characters in Orwell’s Animal Farm. You will keep on plodding, defending the two legged pigs until you die………….

Four legs good, two legs better……….

It’s time America, for we the people to use the IMPEACHMENT PROCESS to rid the grovenmental factions of the HOUSE and SENATE of the lifer Politans, and bring to bear needed life blood to the country who has this country welfare and welfare of the people at heart. Our founding Fathers are turning or my I put it more boldly are spining in their graves. There is something I do not really want to think about or even say, but it is time that we the people take our country back and do it by any means necessary to accomplish the task a hand

  • FollowerofJesusChrist

I do not fear the truth. The TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. (John 8:32)

If you are sill blaiming the founding fathers for creating slavery than you are a slave to a lie. Blaiming the TEA Party for this mess is like blaiming Paul Revere for the Brittish comming.

To bad you like to twist the TURTH. You know that half the TRUTH is still a lie. Don’t you? And did you know the father of the lie is the dievel? So, why are you lieing?
A lier will also steal from you, if given the chance. Why do you steal? Your telling a lie is stealing from the TRUTH. So, why do you steal?
A thief will also murder if he/she desires an object so much he will steal it. Why are you murdering? Yes, you are a murder. A murder of the TRUTH. Satin is also a murder.

“Get thee behind me, Satan.” Mathew 16:23.
Doc Sarvis, you are a lier, a thief, and a murder. Not only are you a Lier, Thief, and a Murder, you are also a COWARD. Yes, thats right, I called you a COWARD!!! No, don’t think so? Display your real name. Show me your name. COWARD. Post your real name. COWARD.

People, don’t take the remarks of a progressive personally – even if they’re trying to provoke you. They come to this website to distract and confuse and get things out of their systems so they don’t explode. In the words of that great modern day progressive {sharpton], “Resist we much!”
In other words, sooner or later, a progressive’s mind starts to slip (you can only put a certain amount of feces into a brain). After that, the brain rejects it and you never know what to expect. I thought old Al might have been drunk. If a conservative said anything like that, we’d be accused of being on drugs or doing a poor Yoda imitation (Yodas have RIGHTS – right?). Free speech is a wonderful thing.
Remember, being a progressive is like having an explosive in your brain. You know what will happen. What you don’t know is WHEN. Like it or not, constant brain farts are part and parcel of letting yourself be a progressive.
What can you say about a system of political theories that make the 3 Stooges seem more like three Albert Einsteins?

  • http://personalliberty.com Judy

I am neither Democrat nor Republican. I am just an American citizen who would like to see Congress bring the troops home and put them to work on the infrastructure, cut expenditures and raise taxes on those making over $1 million a year. In other words, do what it takes to get our budget under control. I would like a balanced budget amendment, but not one that lists the limited amounts for each department of the government and not one that puts a cap on revenues. Just an amendment that says Congress shall balance the budget would be all that is required. This political bantering back and forth does not help our country at all. We need to put down the gloves and work together to help our country move forward. It will take cuts and taxes to get the job done. After all the middle class, who has supported this country with taxes for many years, is now out of work and the revenues will have to come from somewhere. You cannot cut enough to get out of the mess we are in.

  • s c

Ron, here’s something for you to ponder. Yes, we need to know as much as we can about Bummer. Every man, woman and child in America needs to know.
The way he came out of nowhere is enough to make anyone suspicious. Has his life been scripted? If so, who did it? Is he an Oz-like figure? If so, for whom?
To date, Bummer’s economic “performance” has been a failure. It mirrors that of FDR. FDR, many years after his death, has records that remain sealed (why?). When it became obvious that FDR’s economic theories/programs were failures, he turned his ‘energies’ to foreign policy – just like another yahoo who is a fakir in economics and any other topic you care to mention.
It looks as though we have an FDR II on our hands. If that’s the case, then God help us, as there will be yet another monumental war on our horizon – and I don’t mean a war that we’re involved in at the moment.

  • Ronald Johnston

We need to vote all incumbents out of office in every election, federal, state, county and city! Then we can get term limits and keep the crooks out of government! We can also get rid of all the terrorists, like osama obama, harry reid, nancy pelosi, barney frank and etc!

  • s c

Bob, ‘Swindling Futurity’ is a polite way to describe the insanity of this administration. While Bummer uses elements of socialism and communism to get what he wants, he’s taking us toward a fascist ‘paradise.’ As you know, when you can’t tell the difference between the government and corporations (GE and the Fed come to mind), the proper term is fascism.
Bummer is repeating behavior straight out of FDR’s manual. FDR was happy to rely on Keynes and his paranoid economic fantasies. And, like it or not, Keyenes was a closet fascist. He rejected communism in favor of fascism. Bummer will use and abuse labor unions and abandon them when the time comes for him to do it. I wouldn’t want to be a coal miner when our great ‘leader’ puts his act into high gear.
