Supreme Court Backs Arizona Immigration Law

May 30, 2011 by

Supreme Court backs Arizona immigration lawAdvocates for immigration reform have scored a major victory, as the Supreme Court recently upheld the Arizona law that punishes businesses for hiring illegal aliens.

The 5-3 ruling, which was announced on May 26, essentially gives States more authority to crack down on illegal immigration. Opponents of the law, including President Barack Obama, claim that the policy compromises Federal oversight over immigration issues, according to CNN.

According to the website of Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne, the Legal Arizona Workers Act — which went into effect in 2008 — prohibits businesses from intentionally hiring undocumented workers. Organizations that violate the measure are subject to sanctions.

In addition, the law requires employers to use the Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify system to check the legal status of all new employees.

“It relies solely on the Federal government’s own determination of who is an unauthorized alien, and it requires Arizona employers to use the Federal government’s own system for checking employee status,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts in his defense of the Arizona law.

The nation’s high court may soon decide on another controversial Arizona law currently making its way through lower courts. The statute, which has been replicated by several States, would grant law enforcement officials more authority to arrest suspected illegal aliens.

this is great news ! The Obama administration refuses to act on anything but amnesty or “comprehensive immagration reform ” as they call amnesty .Now the states can act and act they will. Millions of illegals will flood from states that pass anti-immagration laws to those states ( like california where I live ) that have pro-illegal lawmakers. However in self-protestion even the pro-illegals will have to act once this process starts. The message to the states is ” YES YOU CAN !” do something to stop the flood of illegals. God bless the USA and keep american jobs preserved for Americans .The tables are turning horay.

  • ed schanez

supreme court is supream on this one

  • roland erick

Illegal means illegal. These citizens of other countries ,mainly mexico, have to understand they have no future here , no place here, no legal status here , are unwanted by most of the population here, and unlike Mexico we take our laws seriously . The SCOTUS has spoken ,the law is not mocked anymore this is a historic day that marks a turning point in the war against illegal law breaking criminals from other countries.Americia actually intends to enforce the law and illegals better prpare to go home or go to jail where they belong.

  • Macawma

I just hope they enforce this. Quite a few years ago, there was a $10,000. penalty in Texas if you got caught with undocumented Mexican labor. I never heard of even one business, ranch, or anyone else being fined, yet they (illegals) were EVERYWHERE. When laws are made, they need to be adhered to. Law enforcement must have the right to check status or nothing will be done. There are not enough immigration officers to get it done, so let’s allow law enforcement to act. After all, these are “laws”!

  • BigBadJohn

About time! Neither party has been willing to go near immigration at the national level – so let the states do it!

The GOP like cheap labor so illegal Mexicans fill the bill.

Dems like a class of people that they can toss bread crumbs to and get votes.

I have no problem with immigration – but an ILLEGAL immigrant is just that – ILLEGAL!

  • Al Sieber

I’m glad they finally passed it, we are overrun here and I hope they enforce it too.

  • Janice Fortin

HALLALULIA! FOLKS THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR: THIS IS JUST ONE STEP TAKEN THAT WILL REVIVE AMERICA! THE SUPREME COURT HAS RULED E-VERIFY TO MANDATE EMPLOYERS HIRE LEGAL AMERICAN CITIZENS AND NOT ILLEGAL ALIENS. A uniform national law expected soon for all States. Illegal aliens costs this country 3 times the annual cost of both wars. They crowd the prison system beyond repair. California is commanded to free THOUSANDS of prisoners on the street to accomodate them. Printing gov documents in English only, and doing away with the insulting dial no.2 service, and eliminating thousands of translators and benefits afforded them, who are imported solely to accommodate foreigners residing in America without learning English first – which was in former, orderly times, a requirement – will make the budget not smile, but laugh out loud. AMERICA IS WINNING, FOLKS.

  • DC/Tex

A step in the right direction. We must send the National Guard, with loaded weapons, to the borders. If the Mexican government will not let the US pursue drug transporters and terrorist into Mexico we must cut off the tax payers money sent to Mexico. Also stop anchor babies and make it retroactive twenty years. The most important thing is to vote the Antichrist and his band of Chicago crime mob out of the Whorehouse.

    • JC

      Amen all of that!

  • http://yahoo Rob

I guess this is some small victory. So now the question still prevails…..Will this ruling be “Enforced”? Now the next step is to get “ILLEGALS” off the FREEBIES. Take away the freebies and the mass exodus can begin.

Dont worry all you illegal criminals out there, the state of California will be proud to have you victimize someone here.Yes…here in California where the leftist progressives have power, you can come to ply your criminal trade. You can crowd our prisons, take our jobs, drive drunk on our highways, and cause us to have to read everything in spanish. And then when you attain fuitive status, you can just quietly slip past the border back into Mexico. But remember to vote for your local progressive democrat! The unions will ensure that you have a chance to do that as well.Arizona might have the brass tacks and testicular fortitude to defend the laws of this nation, but here in California all you have to do is show up with your anchor baby and wallah…free social programs for life!Heck, you can even bring the drug cartels over here and teach our children that they stole this land from Mexico in our schools!Viva La Raza! What a land of opportunity California is for lawbreakers from every nation(especially those who come from south of the border)! So,even if Arizona doesnt want you, come on in to California!Impregnate a white woman, hang some sheetrock, revel in your own illiteracy,we dont care! And when you take our jobs and make money here,be sure to send a solid portion of it out of our economy and back to your country of origin! We will even thank you for _____ing up our fine state!Aint it wonderful?!-CC.

I would almost go all in on the poker table that we have more illegals in our state than you have people in yours…haw!Bet I am not too far from wrong neither!

  • Pink Gin

At last, a step forward, send’em all back, ( except the one who cuts my lawn and tidies the garden )..Happy Memorial Day

    • JC

I guees if we are to send all the illegals back, you might have to cut your own damn lawn and tidy your own garden…or maybe hire an American kid who’s trying to put himself through school.

      • Albino.

Even the ones that pick the oranges in Florida? I like me Florida orange juice! I have to give to them, they picked some good Walmart special strawberries this year!

      • pink gin

Have you ever tried to hire an American kid to do yard-work,,,Good luck with that..I have Muscular Dystrophy so although it’s difficult, can do most of it myself…however, the Mexican lads call round ( I have no idea if they are legal or not) and do a great job and I pay them twice of the amount they ask for.
My point was,,,they do work that the American kids turn their noses up at, and do a great job in the Arizona heat.

        • JC

I’m sorry you suffer from MD I truly am.
As a nation though, we still can’t afford illegal aliens.

  • Bill J

Don’t get over excited! This ruling will be ignored in democrat dominated states! The current administration will declare the justices who voted for this ruling to be racists and vow to ignore the ruling as racist garbage!

    • JC

      Under “International Law” of course…
      And screw that too.

  • http://azbob BOB JONES

    • JC

Right next to the Soviet style Patriot Act.

  • MomTaxpayerCitizen

A ray of hope for law-abiding U.S. citizens being victimized by foreign criminals and freeloaders. Will the Constitutionality of forcing U.S. taxpayers to provide our foreign invaders with free educations, free health care in our emergency rooms and welfare checks for their anchor babies be challenged?

  • Philip Camacho

Good going Supreme Court. You know, I wonder what the unemployment rate would really be if no illegals were hired here.

Fat chance of that happening. The R.I.N.O. business owners who on the surface yip about the illegals sure like to hire them so they can pay them s**t wages.

  • Antonio

I just want to say that since i am a latin person i know many people that are illegal/legal. I think the knew law that was passed is great and all, but the thing is that it has always been that way, right? employers have always had to use E-verify to check status that isn’t anything knew. Here’s the thing about checking the status of people. I personally know a couple of people who are managers in places like Mcdonadls or Taco Bell and well other places too and they are illegals. How do they do this? What some of you people don’t know is that they use other people ID’s. They use there cousin or brother or sister or even a friend. What is E=verify going to do to catch that???
When i first came to the U.S. I work construction (framing) back mostly white people but little by little more latin people and yes it was about saving a few bucks. But let me tell something now that they are all latin works they do not work cheap anymore. I know some people that work in construction today that make 16 17 even 20 dollars an hour here in fort worth Texas. In the construction business people don’t use E-verify so what the point of the law? In places where they do check they use others peoples ID’s. So again here we sit without any soluctions. What they should do (governers) is order immigration police to start raiding construction sites on a daily basis and they should also go to the bars on the weekends and check papers, after all they used to do that here years back (before i was here) just checking for who had warrants. They should also check papers when applying for wic, section 8 housing, food stamps, hospitals, and so on. Untill they do that expect nothing from E-verify.

“Illegals” HAVE to be dealt with. The, so-called, “DREAM Act” absolutely belongs in the TRASH. And, illegal-immigration [from the South of our borders] has been (and is) an absolute, and ongoing, DISASTER in the United States. More, and more, citizens have reached the absolute END of their tolerance for this intolerable-situation…

I think that, in this case, this issue [illegal immigration] is actually being USED, and the citizens of the United States, are being carefully-MANIPULATED (by an intentionally-created “emergency”) into the, long-planned, implementation of a “…national, biometric, identification, and citizen-tracking, and CONTROL, system” (think; the already LEGALLY-MANDATED “REAL-ID” citizen identification/tracking scheme… that so many oppose). It seems to me that this, one, particular element of the “illegal-alien” debate (which the Obama administration has, so surprisingly ???…lost…???) …fits just a little too perfectly with the expected, necessary “serious problem” which would be needed to convince so many Americans that we (as free-citizens) actually should accept something as onerous, and potentially-dangerous, as, the “REAL-ID” national “biometric” citizen identification, and tracking, system.

However, I for one am intellectually, personally, and patriotically, terrified by the prospect of so much POWER being placed within ANY Government’s hands… no matter WHAT the justification/rationalization (especially when so-many, painfully-apparent “False-Flag operations” are so-obviously, standard operating procedure for manipulating the “public”, these days.

Don’t forget… the eventual POWER/GOAL of the “REAL-ID” system will be that, as a citizen, you will not be able to drive a car, have a bank-account, have a job, nor buy anything, without Government-permission, and having ALL transactions (that, in any way, need “identification”)… being recorded, tracked, and “data-mined” for “potential threats” to “our nation” (I.E. to control us, and benefit those in power).

So, I just don’t think that this one part of the “immigration problem” is actually a “problem” for the Obama administration’s, ACTUAL, plans for this country.

And, I think we, REALLY, need to be careful, when things actually seem to be going “our way”, for a change… from such a carefully-crafted Federal Judiciary… such a secretive, and manipulative administration… and when connected to such a flash-point issue.

    Anyway… that’s my, reticent, two-cents.

    • Antonio

Yes that is pretty much the purpose of the north american union and the rfid chips. That is basically why they are not securing the borders becuase really the are trying to open them up. And the chips are in the health care bill set to be mandatory. Its all about control tracking and watching your every move. No, i am not taking any chip.

  • Brittanicus

Senator Marco Rubio of Florida is not the major activist against illegal immigration, for the TEA PARTY. That’s one of the most serious issues on their agenda for the 2012 election. Any TEA PARTY leader, who is not, will be quickly removed. Minnesota Republican Michele Bachmann and Tea Party sweetheart is a major contender in revitalizing the massive, out-of-control problem. Kentucky Republican Rand Paul, a freshman and tea party favorite is ready to fight the illegal immigrant invasion. Whether it’s Nevada or some other State, economic illegal aliens will soon head your way to Sanctuary Cities or even States like California. Those State legislators not implementing E-Verify or Secure Communities will be crucified in 2012.

Illicit Companies and open border interests are just one cause of financial fall of America. Democratic leaders discounted the Tea Party and measured them as nothing more than a small group of discontents. The GOP, on the other hand, understood that it wasn’t and were smart enough to encourage them into their party. People have been wondering for a long time, who Congress works for? The American people or big business lobby? Decades of complete brain oblivion–intentional or not on the part of both political parties in Congress, has cost us millions of US jobs, lowering of wage, and higher taxes specifically in the lower working classes. We are forced to pay for their children’s education, the whole household’s health care and many well concealed programs by government. While Americans are in foreclosure, cars reprocessed and unable to pay their bills, there are an estimated 8 million gainfully employed. Illegal aliens are still pouring across the border or flying from other nations and are not being tracked as in Mexico. The Third Party will stem this illegal economic occupation once and for all. The Tea Party will not vote for any new Amnesties, better labeled as Immigration Reform. The People’s power is omnipotent, but we must stand together against many entities who are only interested in profit and exploitation. We can join NumbersUSA and band together by demanding a–MANDATORY E-VERIFY–nationwide, from our federal, State representatives or call Senate—202-224–3121/ House—202-225–3121.
