Superfruit Appears To Help Obese People Live Healthier Lives

November 20, 2009 by

Superfruit appears to help obese people live healthier lives According to a new study, the juice of mangosteen fruit, which has been known for its anti-inflammatory properties, may also help reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes in obese individuals.

The results of the research were published in Nutrition Journal and suggest that consumption of the exotic fruit may lower the levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), which is a measure of inflammation.

Dr. Jay Udani, lead researcher in the study, explained that inflammation—as measured by CRP—is a predictor of cardiovascular disease and a precursor of metabolic syndrome.

He added that the results are important because they suggest that reducing inflammation in obese people is a treatment goal. Moreover, drinking a natural product such as mangosteen juice tends to be preferable to other therapy methods due to its lack of side effects.

MangosteenBasics.com, an informational website, says mangosteen fruit is rich in antioxidants and contains fiber, potassium, calcium, vitamins B1, B2 and B6 as well as iron and vitamin C. It is also a good source of xanthones, which are believed to boost the immune system and promote general wellbeing.

      Mr. Weber.

A friend told me about this stuff called “Mangosteen Juice”, she said that it might help with all my akes and pains — SO I tried some — and in a short time about 3 days I started to feel better, My hands were more flexable, and I just felt much better — Long story short — I have been on “Mangosteen Juice” from a Co. called “Xango” for over 5 years and my wife who is diabetic ( 6 shots a day ) has been taking the juice for the same amount of time, sayes that she too feels much better now. I hope that this gives you some idea of the “Mangosteen Juice” and what is possable………

The latest news for VitalXan is it has been officially announced that the double blind clinical trials using Vitalxan starts Feb 2011.

James Cook University is starting a pioneering study of the mangosteen,a tropical fruit that originated in South-East Asia
and is grown in the Far North, to examine its potential use as a side effect free treatment for schizophrenia.

Mangosteens are high in nutrients called xanthones, which have been
found to have strong antioxidant activity, supporting the body’s immune system.
Xanthones are found in concentrated amounts in the purple rind, the pericarp,of the mangosteen.
The study is sponsored by Mangosteen Dietary Supplements, a
South Australian company that produces Vitalxan,a mangosteen health
    extract.

JCU Professor of Nursing Kim Usher said patients suffering schizophrenia would take about 2000mg of Vitalxan mangosteen product daily for about six months.

“It’s proven to be safe – Vitalxan a fruit juice supplement,
    anyway,” Prof Usher said.

“All we’re doing is giving it to people at a slightly larger dose of the purified pericarp instead of the preserved mangosteen fruit
juices available commercially, for about 180 days.”

Some side effects existing anti-psychotic medications have include dry
    mouth, constipation,blurred vision, drowsiness,sexual dysfunction
    and menstrual changes.

Prof Usher said the fruit had the potential to change the lives of people with the mental illness.

“If this study proves successful,it will be a wonderful thing,” she said.

“People living with schizophrenia live a life of taking medication.”
