Supercommittee Outcome Likely Un-Super

If Americans were expecting an outcome from the deliberations of the Congressional panel called the debt reduction supercommittee that is as impressive as its name, they will likely be disappointed when the Thanksgiving deadline arrives.

The 12-member committee, established under a summer budget and debt pact made between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), has for most of its existence been stalemated as the lawmakers quarrel over where they can find $1.2 trillion to cut from the Federal budget over the next decade.

Reports indicate that disagreement may not be the only thing impeding the supercommittee. If the members are unable to come to an agreement by their deadline, nothing will really happen. Automatic spending cuts were put in place to create a sense of urgency in the budget debate, but those do not take effect until 2013, according to The Washington Post. That means lawmakers have a full year to come up with an alternate plan. In past months, the threat of chaotic government shutdowns has been the only thing to spark urgent Congressional budget action.

If the Thanksgiving deadline is not met, lawmakers will likely avoid working on a debt-reduction deal until after the November 2012 elections.

This is a well thought out and well researched, if poorly delivered, analysis. I do, however find a couple of problems with it.
First is the fact that it’s far easier to point out the flaws in an established system than to develop one from scratch. We currently have no shortage of those that would advocate the disestablishment of this 234 year old form of governance! Keeping in mind that in the end this is really just his opinion, and that he has been a little “creative” in some places, and that anything devised by man must contain flaws, What do we replace it with?!
It would seem wise, before you “revoke” a system that established and maintained one of the most successful forms of governance devised by man, that you would have an alternate system to replace it with. Failing that what is left? Anarchy? Feudalism? WHAT?

      • Bruce

Oh Ted Crawford, You surly do jest.
If not, then ignorace is very much so alive within your very small mind.
Or is it the TRUTH is so bombastice to you that your little frail ego can’t quite handle it.

Its really quite well Documented, EO #1, 1868 Congress, the 1871 Congress, all under the “RE CON Struction act” and just what was it again that was “RE CON Structed” Ted Crawford? care to enlighten us all with your WOW factor briliance?

Kurt is not expressing any “OPINIONS” but hey why let the TRUTH stand in your way when you have such a vast pool of knowledge, oddly completely missing in action within your post.

What is that you based your post on again, oh yea {your OPINION} thats based on what again?

But hey WOW, I now stand Oh Soooo corrected by your opining with that special brand of Insightful mindless bliss you displayed with such Conviction and Pride.

Hey a special BIG thanks to millions just like you who will insure that America will Fall just by the way people just like you embrace your IGNORANCE with such PRIDE.
You know the NWO couldn’t have done it with out the help from millions of people just like you, Now don’t you feel special?

        • Ted Crawford

WOW Bruce what a wonderful attempt to intimidate through name calling! Good luck in gaining any converts with that method!
I was simply pointing out that, if original intent has any meaning to us, that the Founders, not being possesed of the Giant Egos we see here, understood that they were not capable of foreseeing every current, as displayed by the Bill of Rights, much less future needs of the new nation, included an artical, not an EO nor an amendment, to allow and even perhaps encourage the improvement of the Constitution, Artical 5!
Many of us possed with our “frail egos and incumbered with our ignorance” have long advocated for an Artical 5 Convention, where we could, in keeping with the Founders original intent, attempt to correct the problems Kurt pointed out!

For the most part, people get selected as members of ‘special groups’ because their suggestions/answers tend to be pre-scripted. If they are members of certain “special” groups, that means they are owned by those groups.
WHY do you think this group was selected? Consider the “selector.” Once again, the game is rigged. No doubt, we’ll be shaking our heads and wondering why and how they made such decisions.

  • Sirian

This “super committee”, from the start, is and will always be one of the most secure pieces of evidence for a complete and total house cleaning. If people are to blind to either see or understand what stands before them in a very bright light and to what underlying objectives they have then our country is, without a doubt, lost!

  • Ted Crawford

This idiotic concept was designed to be a win-win for the Progressives!
Should it fail, as is clearly the desire of the Progressives and in particular, President Obama, it will be spun to strengthen the disingenious arguement that the Conservatives refuse to compromise!
Shoul it succeed, it might be even worse for us in that it could be touted as a fast and effective way to solve our problems!
History seems to point out that when more and more power is invested in fewer and fewer people, it usually leads to all power being invested in only one!

    • James

Ted C. By “idiotic concept” what do you mean?

  • stevor

It was never meant to be “super”. It was put there to prove (more, if possible) that Congress is totally lame and that we “need” some FRAUD like O’Bummer to “save us” (and accept throwing out our system of “checks and balances” with 3 branches of the federal government). That way, when (not if) they bring in the New World Order, it won’t be much of a shift in how we’re RULED.

  • eddie47d

There is no compromising by the Republicans so you are being disingenuous in making that statement. The clock is ticking in Washington and all they can do is fiddle. Buying time until the next election is a lousy game plan but it has worked for them so far. Neither the Democrats(Progressives) or the Republicans (Conservatives)could referee a game of pee wee soccer! Maybe they are all too busy planning their next stock market move so they can pad their already over bloated retirement packages.

    • Lost in Paradise

Actually Eddie they are listening to the thousands and thousands of letters that have been sent to them by the people who elected the Repubs last November. We told them no more taxes, not more spending, and balance the books. Everything the Obumbler administration wants will deepen our financial problem.

The repubs are actually holding their ground, which is something I did not think I would see. We need to see cuts in spending period. No new money to D.C.. They only need to ask Ron Paul for input, but that would mean less for them, so they will not shoot themselves in the foot.

    • Raggs

      Your an idiot ED.

This whole bull-crap scam is just your dictators way of blaming the republican party.. And guess what ED you are stupid enough to fall for it… What a fool.

      • eddie47d

I guess I could call you an idiot too Raggs. Now didn’t that feel good! You must feel really good Raggs since your comments are always condescending. LOL

        • Joe H.

          eddie,
such a wonderful thing YOURS never are!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!!

  • http://PersonalLibertyDigest..dhspolicy... VGF

Check out these ”Specially-picked” Super Committee People. They are All YES People to the “”power behind the as yet unseen throne’. It was Agreed to and Fully understood before at the onstart..That they WERE NOT there..Not Picked..To Come to Any Decision but ONE.. A Stalemate and Failure to reach an Agreement > Then…The Original Plan Can be Put into Place… (CUTS Across the Board ! Folks..’They’ have never stopped eyeing our Earned Social ecurity and Medical benefits. even moreso now than ever before. After all, The Monies are not to be found that can yet be ‘lifted’ from ..Anywhere Else. THat is Why this Hand-picked bunch of Thieves Have been Chosen. They Represent “”Them”…NOT the Peoples` best interests. Make a Note of Every one of Them. Mark them OUT ..When you Vote ( IF there Is a Legitimate Opportunity at us Having another VOTE ) This Dum ‘super-committee was Brought into play..to Stall against doing Anything on this Watch. After all, Doing Nothing to Solve Our budget Problem Looks Just as Bad for the Demos as it does for the Repugs. A toss-up.

  • http://personallibertydigest Lyle McDaniell

Just look that picture gallery over real good ..do you see any one of them that isnt one of the progressive bunch. Known as commies. why were they picked? To consumate the plan..

  • Greg

Creation of the “Supercommitte” displays that all branches of our government won’t get anything done. The country is divided on social issues and financial issues and you can’t mix water and oil.

  • Lost in Paradise

Does any one here, no what happened to,or where it went? The government by the people, and for the people. That statement pretty much sums up our problem, and gives us the ultimate solution. However I think people like being led around like sheep, and will do nothing.

  • Raggs

This “super-committee” by it’s design is just a way for oblama to blame the republicans yet once again….

  • Gringo Infidel

More of the same – super duds is what they are – being manipulated by their party leadership.

what a waste of time and money they are.

    • Raggs

Well your sarcasm is duley noted with some points.

First of all when the oblama’s 900th vacation in threes years ends sometime next week he will again “speech” America with yet another lame excuse of his own policy failure blaming the republicans all of the way to the white house ( which he believes he OWNs )… They are currently warming up his teleprompter as we post… The next thing is that this “committee” was NEVER designed to do anything other than to throw off the MASS “SHEEPLE” ( like eddie ).. Well so now you know the truth….

      • Robert Smith

        Basolutely not true Raggs.

        31 Months into their terms…

        Obama = 70 Days

        Bush = 225 Days

Darn that reality shure shoots down screeching from the right.

        That’s from: http://ezkool.com/2011/08/obama-vacations-vs-george-bush/

        Rob

        • Raggs

Oh????… So then we should NOT count the number of weeks that oblama is currently spending “ON VACTION” ( instead of being in office ) on the road touring America for votes???? We are already at 3 months of this idiot doing nothing but traveling and fundraising and we have another year of this crap to go… Actually I prefer oblama being way gone from DC as much as possible..( actually I hope that he falls off of the earth ) And you sit here trying to make excuses for him??? Are you freakin kidding me??? oblama is a DIRT_BAG MARXIST PIG

          • eddie47d

…and you are a dirt bag Fascist pig Raggs. Isn’t the name calling fun. Hey I might start enjoying this…. But never as much as Raggs. The Republicans opened up the gates and started campaigning early so don’t get your undies in a bunch.

          • Joe H.

            Raggs,
eddie forgets, his hero abummer never came out of campaign mode!!! So I guess HE started the running EARLY!!

  • James

It’s looking like the Super committee idea was to delay any meaningful reduction of the annual deficit till the 2012 election. If they can’t eliminate #1.2 trillion in spending, over the next ten years, then they can’t effectively reduce the annual deficit, much less eliminate it. If the committee says, essentially: “We give up,” then foreign holders of our national debt securities will dump them on the open market, which will make prices explodes and make the dollar a worthless piece of paper.

    • Raggs

A reduction of $1.2 trillion over a period of ten years is pretty much like ONE SNOW FLAKE in the winter… It is nothing but a fat-arse joke on America… oblama has grown the government so much that a $8 trillion cut would not even make a ripple in the sea.

  • http://deleted Claire

Anyone with half a brain knew nothing would come of this fiasco. Big waste of time.

  • Think about it

    How stupid,
The F-IN supercommittee is illegal. Read the Constitution, Wake the F-UP.

  • Jay

The “supercommittee” is the newly-formed (and utterly illegal) committee of 12 members of Congress who engineer new debt-related legislation that’s only allowed an up or down vote by the full Congress.

This bypasses the traditional debate process by elected representatives, effectively concentrating the power to shape laws in the hands of a mere dozen members of Congress. The very structure is elitist from the start, and it directly contradicts the United States Constitution.
