Study: Butter Leads To Lower Blood Fats Than Natural Oils

February 15, 2010 by

Study: Butter leads to lower blood fats than natural oilsA new study from Lund University in Sweden has found that the consumption of butter may lead to a lower elevation of blood fats after a meal compared to olive, canola and flaxseed oil. High blood fat levels are commonly linked to elevated cholesterol readings.

The researchers found that approximately 20 percent of the fat in butter is made up of short and medium length fatty acids, which are "good" fatty acids that are used as energy and rarely affect blood fat levels. However, the study’s authors admit that butter can also lead to a higher content of free fatty acids in the blood, "which can be a burden on the body."

"The fact that butter raises blood cholesterol in the long term is well known, whereas its short-term effects are not as well investigated," said Julia Svensson, a doctoral candidate at Lund University.

"Olive oil is good, to be sure, but our findings indicate that different food fats can have different advantages," she added.

The study found that the difference in short-term elevated blood fat levels was more pronounced in men due to hormones, the size of fat stores and the differences in metabolism compared to women.

Anyone old enough to remember oleo?

Anyone remember butter made from unpasteurized milk and natural sea salt? Is that the sort of butter this doctoral candidate is talking about? Probably not.

Speaking of contents, the title of this article is belied by its content. “MAY lead to lower elevation of…blood fats.” “The fact that butter raises blood cholesterol in the long term is well known, whereas its short-term effects are not as well investigated.”

So, what is the point of this article? Eat butter instead of olive oil? (And why should Canola oil, a heavily processed unnatural product from an artificially created breed of plant, be mentioned alongside natural olive oil?)

Title: “Study: Butter Leads to Lower Blood Fats Than Natural Oils.”

More accurate title: “Incomplete Undergrad Study: Processed Butter May or May Not Lead to Lower Blood Fats Than Natural and Unnatural Oils In the Short Term; We Don’t Know Because We Haven’t Studied Enough.”

A bit long, less catchy, but more accurate.

The upcoming headline will read “The Federal Government has decided that you may or may not eat butter or margarine any longer unless you pay a fine.”

We will have the IRS do a credit check and you will go before our review panel to see how much we have to charge you for the butter or margarine. If you are unable to pay for your butter or margarine someone who makes more than $250,000 or maybe 200,000 per year will be forced to buy your butter or margarine for you.

If you are currently over the maximum government allowable weight limit then we will confiscate your butter or margarine from you until our review panel and our ACORN and SEIU advisers determine that you are able to handle your butter because only President Obama is permitted to have high cholesterol.

If butter or margarine is determined to cause global warming then we will charge an excise fee to offset the carbon released when you spread the butter or margarine on your tofu bread.

I think it’s interesting that a nation has grown fatter being raised on “oleo” margarine, diet sodas and low-fat foods.

        Coal Miner,

I think it’s also interesting that I’ve had Vets tell me to not use plastic food or drinking containers for my dogs.

Real food is being demonized, cooked to death and chemicalized in the name of “safety.”

The experts are only mouthpieces for various chemical lobbies.

REAL food, REAL supplements and REAL health.

Or pills, potions, toxins and lots of payola to our elected reps.

Americans have spoken, and they have not chosen the better path. Too hard apparently.

Some years ago there was an experiment done with suet cakes. One cake was suet, butter and margarine. The birds ate from the suet and butter cake but would not eat from the margarine.

I love butter and will not and have not eaten any other so called tastes like or smells like…

Margerine is two chemicals short of plastic…as someone has said leave margerine in your garage opened and see what happens…I venture to guess that if you left that tub of goop in your garage for decades it would remain the same!!!

I am eating butter as I always have and also using regular sugar as I always have…these so called experts…they don’t even know what their talking about..and..the example of that is one week they say one thing and then next week it’s okay…there are more obese sick people now than ever before…and…you want me to listen to them???!!!! That’s why the medical profession is ganging up on doctors who have cures and our health food stores and vitamin stores because not enough people are dying and taking prescription drugs and some of us are learning that we need to eat healthy not the way they’ve been telling us to eat…duhhhhhhhhhh…wake up they do not have our best interest..they’re greedy and guess what unless they have their own gardens out back they too are eating the same foods and so are their children just as ours are…may GOD have mercy on them all…

See the Book, “Trick and Treat: How Healthy Eating is Making Us Ill”
by Barry Groves, for more in depth information on the need for natural, saturated fats. We are being mislead to the detriment of our health, & the great financil benefit to the medical industry. Even worse, the Government wants to get in on the deal & proclaim
“settled science,” on cholesterol, just like with global warming.
