Stimulus package provisions for retirees

February 27, 2009 by

Stimulus package contains provisions that retirees can benefit from In the current economic conditions almost everyone could use an economic stimulus, and analysts have identified provisions that can benefit America’s retirees.

They include a one-time $250 tax-free payment, regardless of income, to Social Security recipients or an equivalent tax credit for those who do not receive benefits such as retired government workers.

Retirees (and others) may also be able to deduct sales or excise taxes on the first $49,500 of the sales price of most motor vehicles purchase before the end of the current year.

The analysis conducted by also points out some novel provisions that reward energy conservation. Consumers may obtain tax credits for a range of eco-friendly home improvements such as solar-energy heating systems, geothermal heat pumps and wind energy systems.

Moreover, retirees who want to take courses at local colleges may be eligible for education credits, and high-income seniors in particular could benefit from a provision that shields more taxpayers from the alternative minimum tax (AMT).

Such benefits are especially timely given that a slew of recent reports has painted a pessimistic picture of the state of American retirement funds.

According to a recent survey by Pensions & Investment, the 1,000 largest plans lost almost $1 trillion in the year ended September 2008, their worst decline in 30 years.

Just wondering where all these concerned citizens are coming from as they were nowhere aroung when W and co. were stomping are liberties into oblivion and spending our country into bankruptcy.

    • Sue

Scott, they were enjoying the newfound wealth acquired through those “greedy Wall Streeters and CEO’s. Most retirees don’t need much if they are buyging $50K cars, etc. why give them anything at all?

      • Larry P. Larousse

I do not know where the ifo came from that most retirees don’t need much. Most retiree’s that I know worked hard for their little nest egg and if were fortunate to save a little in a retirment account to hlep suplement our small social security check, have lost 50% or more of that nest egg due to the foolish spending that is being done by our elected officials which seem to be headed down a path of destruction which in the long run will affect everyone when the dollar becomes worthless.

        • MAGGIEB

I totally agree, I was forced to retire from the military and I lost 60% of my income, gee could you live on less than $2000 per month ? especially when you still have a mortgage? I can’t

    • http://none M.L. Rose

You obviously have little knowledge of the Bush administration that saved your rear end from terrorist attacks for seven years. But as all democrats will soon wish President Bush was back in town as after this community organizer finishes redistributing your hard earned money to his adherents, you’ll probably wish you had never heard the name Obama.

      • theresa

V.P. Biden told us that if elected he and Obama would do things in the first 100 days that would seem bad but Americans should stick with them. Well we found out what he meant! I, for one, do not want socialism! If I did I could live in many countries that already have it; and some of those countries moving away from socialism. I want to be safe; keep what I earn; give to charities that I choose.

        • Fran

          That was well put.
I for one would rather they just let me keep what I have worked for all these years , not dish out to me what they think I should get. Most of us that are at retirement age have been conserative and tired to get things in order for our future. I am beginning to wonder if we will have a future.
As for the one time $250.00, that is a laugh. That reminded me of something my Dad use to tell us when I was a teen. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, but give the man the means to fish for himself and he will eat for life.

      • BajaSteve

Do I read Scott correctly, When Pres Bush spends money its bad, but when the Dems spend the hard earned money on all the pork, yes the ones who create jobs, and than run our economy in the ground, that’s OK? What about your Pres Lying about not letting any PORK go by his desk? Yes it is HIS bill Not Pres Bushes. He has the power to VETO the bill no matter When it started!

      • connemara

M l rose has no concept of Budget legislation history or He would of found that between REAGAN/Bush2 that these two spending not only broke Modern days national debt day records over 11 trillion dollars and counting{Bush is resposiable for FY 09 Budget pass again by his Repub’s}but also jack up intergovernment debt by 20 trillion, trade defict unbalances of over eight trillions and international debt owed other nation by 15 trillion{we pay one trillion alone on interest every 15 months to them alone}!Reagan jeck up the s.s. taxes from 2.3 to present 7.4 while changing Federal tax code so low/middle wages pay 2-5% more taxes since 82 along with INDEXING COL wiping out 2-4 per year on a accumlated basic for over 27 years. The lowerest s.s. check should be 1300 with the avg. 2500 but both REAGAN/Bush2 rob every penny from it for tax cut for the upper 2-3% pay by the other 97% and giving free s.s taxes after 95,000!

      • Wayne

George Bush was the worst president of my lifetime and maybe of all time. He did more to quash our personal liberties and screw up our financial markets than I thought possible.
I would say there are very few people that can look me in the eye and state they are better off now after Bush than under Bill Clinton.
It is too bad that a lot of Republicans are and have such a narrow view. Bush took us from an approximate $300B surplus to record deficits and the deficits do not even account for his war in Iraq to clean up his father’s mess.

        • russ

do you understand that the surplus you speak of is do to over taxing the people. it dose not mean that the deficit was being paid down. That would be the same as you over paying your charge card each month. As for the worst president you must not have been around with Jimmy Carter. As a republican I like to keep the money that I worked hard for and donate to how i wish to. If you would take the time to educate yourself you would know that Bill Clinton started the housing mess by making banks give out loans that people couldn’t pay back. I’m not a Bush fan either. He was giving our country away for cheap labor. As for Obama he’s heading down the same path as Jimmy Carter did, bigger Government. It didn’t work then and wont work now.

        • Donald

what personal liberties did Bush take from you,Go to Iran and live with their personal liberties if you thank ours are bad.

        • http://? Fr. Mike

The surplus you speak of was always an “on paper” surplus. There was never money physically in the bank. We will call this an “embellishment” by the Demoncrats. Bill Clinton was also pushed kicking and screaming to a balanced budget by Newt and
his all stars. Another “embellishment” from the Demoncrats who like to take credit for something else they never accomplished.

        • Danny

Wayne, do a little research. Bill Clinton placed the mandates into effect which started the Financial crises. The Democratic controlled Congress and Senate have done more do suppress personal freedoms than any Republican Congress or Senate. Two of the most important freedoms we have are freedom of speech and the uninfringe right to bare arms. Both of these current freedoms are under constant attack by the Democratic party. Without these freedoms we have Communism! Care to dispute that?

        • darlene

You have got to be kidding me. Bush didn’t get us into trouble, it was the two presidents before him. They took the restraints off of the banks.
Just because you want to blame someone, you follow the horn tooters
and don’t think for yourself or educate yourself.

I am ready to build a bomb shelter in the basement and get plenty of caned food ready, for when the bombs start to hit, once again, on our shores.
With a mamby, panby, president in office, I’m sure the anti American terrorist’s are getting their plans in order.
God be with us, we need it now more than ever.

        • JOHN BENWELL

W AYNE- I agree with you 100% – BUSH & CHENEY and the rest of his cronys should be in JAIL- They are guilty of WAR CRIMES and brought this COUNTRY to the brink of COLLAPSE.

      • Earl

If you are going to make statements like this, how about providing some evidence of “saving our asses from terrorist attacks….It’s pretty hard to prove a negative!! Statements by Gov’tofficials do not constitute fact, proof does, but it’s never provided……Try again!

    • Tiger

Scott, this problem has been building for many years, first with Clinton, who wanted everyone to own a house. Then, a few years ago, congress finance committees, headed by House Chairman Barney Frank, and his buddy in the Senate, Sen. Chris Dodd, by the way are both Democrats, forced lending Institutions and Mortgage companies to give loans to people that didn’t have any money for a down payment, and they didn’t have a job to pay these Innovative ‘scam’ home loans! Pres. Bush went to congress 11 times telling these committees to stop these Sub-Prime loans in his first 7 years in office. Dodd and Frank and company just mucked him, saying everything is Honky-Dorey!!!

      • linda

This mess started with FDR. LBJ put his touch on it, as did Jimmy Carter (the worst president this nation has ever seen) and Bill Clinton ramped it up.. Dodd and Frank have been turning a blind eye to the housing fiasco (while being well rewarded for doing so with money and/or mortgages). Obama is picking up the reins to lead us into full-fledged socialism. That’s what happens to a nation of followers. Make some noise! Call, write, fax, or email your congressmen and tell them “Enough!”

        • MAGGIEB

We do that every day on Jimmy Carter almost destroyed this country and Obama, Reid , Pelosi are trying to finish it off. God help us. And now they want to give any jobs created to Illegals and Obama wants to spend millions now to Bring Hamas to settle in the U.S .
          B.O isn’t my president , just Illegals

      • Wayne

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd did not create this mess. The mess was identified about 7 to 7 1/2 years ago. Let me see there was a Republican President and a Republican House and Senate. If Bush wanted to do the right thing then he had to votes to correct the problem.

This problem has basically been caused by lack of regulation and our so called free market policies. Basically big business will not do the right things unless they know they will have someone looking over their shoulder and holding them accountable. There must be more regulations over the loan officers originating the mortgages.

        • Tiger

          Hi Wayne;
The change in the way loans for housing actually began during the Carter fiasco on the late 1970s. But Clinton is the one that said everyone should have the ability to own a house. Now Rep. Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd were on the Finance committee back then. As I said earlier, B. Frank and C. Dodd and the Democrats controlled the finance committee, and pushed for bad mortgages to be written. Senator Obama also helped back in the 1990s, when he was put in charge of teaching, and organizing the ACORN organization to force Banks and Mortgage companies to make loans to people that did not even have a job. When Obama finished college, He brought law suits against lending institutions, forcing bad loans to be made to these same jobless people!
Now I understand you supported Obama and the dems., and the ruthless extremes that they pushed for, and ACORN, the Democratic parties militant group. Do you find it strange that the sub-prime mortgage fiasco blew up just before the election. Hmmmm. The Democrats pulled this same stunt just before the 2004 election!

      • darlene

Thank goodness there are people in this world that actually have educated themselves as to the real reason this country is in disarray.
Lets not let the people who want everything handed to them, take the reigns, in this country. They won’t know what hit them.
They don’t think about it, but what ever they get from someone without really earning it, can also, just as easily, be taken away. They have given away their
        own will and power.

    • Rocky

You sound like the typical “Lib” wanting to blame Bush for the mess this country is in today. If you’ll put on your listening ears (like Judge Judy says) and stop the Bush Bashing you’ll find out how Barney Frank, Chris Dodd along with fellow Dems manipulated Freddie Mac and Fannie May (and how much money they received) that brought on this sorry state of affairs we’re in today. The Bush admistration tried unsuccessfully to put a stop it it but were unable to do so. If we’re to blame Bush for anything it should be for not trying harder to stop them in their tracks.

    • Nina

Try checking out your history instead of sounding like someone who reads only the New York Times and thinks Obama walks on water.
If you think Bush took your Constitutional rights, wait until you see what Obama and his group do.

    • Jack

I don’t remember loosing any of my constitutional rights? I guess you’re a subscriber to the move on to site. We did not loose one right, however, the terrorist that were killing our men and women did loose some rights. They did not fight under a flag and therefore not under the Geneva convention. I say water board the heck out of them if it saves one life. No one forced them to kill our soldiers! Another brilliant move by Obamatrocious is closing Gitmo. I hope the prisoners he so affectionately loves will move next door to the whitehouse. He will be the worst President since Jimmy Carter. Just remember the stock market was at 14000 before the demonrats took over the house and senate in 2006. You Bush haters will never get it, you’re blinded by hate…

      • linda

Terrorists will get plenty of rights under the new administration, while our military gets screwed.

    • Jim

Get with it Scott. The Democrats took over the Congress about 2 1/2 years ago and nothing but disaster followed. No oversight of the financial system from the Democrats who caused most of the problems. The evaluator did not evaluate the evaluator. Take the fool’s cap off and don’t expect something for nothing. You ain’t seen nothing yet!! Common sense tells any person with a brain that Obama and his fellow pork barrel democrats are sucking the country dry. Listen Scott, they are all crooks and they are not concerned about you. If you have any money save it because the Democrats can’t wait to get their pigs in a trough hands on it. However, I wish you luck and good health as I wish all my fellow “Americans”. Believe me, we will need it with Obama in office.

    • Jim

This economic disaster was triggered by the housing market collapse which was caused by the Community Reinvestment Act which forced banks to lend to people who had no hope of paying the mortgage off as well as by speculators buying homes betting on the come.

W and co. tried to do something about this but Chris Dowd and Barney Frank and co stopped them from doing so.

As for having your rights stomped all over, we didn’t have another terrorist attach on their watch and I don’t personally, and I doubt if you do either, know of anyone who did.

Right now we are faced with a President and Administration and Congress bent on destroying wealth instead of trying to create it.

    • Michael

Scott, they were right where they currently are. Being lies to and burned alive by the same Democraticaly controlled Congress, of Peolsi and Reid. The leaders of the socialist movement in the U.S.

    • Magnon

I believe the phrase is “…stomping our liberties…” and not “are liberties.” I hope you are not that illiterate!

    • http://? Fr. Mike

You’re another victim of the Democratic slime machine. They purposely and with intentional malice took away President Bush’s reputation. Next to life, a man’s reputation it is the most precious thing humans have. Well, it used to be. Democrats and other amoral progressives took away his reputation and it cannot be returned. This is theft of the worst kind. I know that you honestly believe their lies and they were certainly persuasive in their zeal, but don’t you think that if they could have proven just one liberty that Mr. Bush took away they would have taken him to court and deposed him? They, the demoncrats, played upon your emotions. You’ve made decision based upon those emotions and you’re trying to justify them with logic. It simply won’t work. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck & Al Gore etc., et al lied to you and to the Nation. Let me explain what a lie is. To Christians, all Truth (no matter where one finds it) emanates from only one source and that Source is God. A lie is simply a denial of Truth. Since all Truth comes from God and a lie is a denial of Truth then a lie is also a denial of God. This is why it is always wrong to lie. Pretty simple stuff and I’m certain this information will appeal to your intellect as well as your emotions. We now have a president who claims to be a Christian. Hogwash! We’ve already seen how he is willing to compromise his so-called Christian faith for expediency sake and his personal agenda – i.e. abortion & homosexuality. If a man is able to compromise his faith you can be certain he is more than capable of compromising his country.

      • Scott

“If a man is able to compromise his faith you can be certain he is more than capable of compromising his country.”

        Mike, I agree.
(I think that was a quote by Samuel Adams.)
That is why I never understood idealogues like you who support your party no matter what they do. It shows me that you have put your faith in man and man made institutions, and really have no faith in God.
Once again you and others have decided that I’m a liberal Pelosi, Reid, Obama loving democrat because I disagree with some of the Bush administration policies. Wrong! I very rarely vote Dem and never in national elections but I won’t support people who do the wrong thing simply because they are Republicans.
Just because one says they’re a Republican it doesn’t mean they are a moral upstanding Christian. Most of them aren’t and their actions speak volumes. Such as your homo statement; go tell it to Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, and Mark Foley.

        • http://? Fr. Mike

I don’t mean to be overly offensive but I have a sense that, in electrical terms, we may be discharging into a nonconductor. I don’t understand the cohesiveness of your retort to my response to your initial statement. This may be my own ignorance but let me explain. You began by stating that Mr. Bush took away our liberties. Simply stated, several of us asked you to step up to the plate and tell us what liberties were taken away. I believe you’ve yet to answer that particular question. I challenged you that I thought that you, like millions of other Americans, were influenced by the Democratic slime machine which purposely lied about Mr. Bush to discredit him on every level – take away his reputation. Your reply was that I must simply be an ideologue, easily dismissible, and that I have put my faith in man and not in God. You further insinuated in so many words that all of us who are Republicans believed that George Bush walked on water and tried to shock us with the fact most Republicans are not very good people, not religious and not good Republicans and yet you claim you mostly vote for them. Interesting! I expect your emotions got in the way of clear thinking. I do the same thing on occasions. Let me correct your assumptions – most Republicans disagreed with Mr. Bush on several issues. Do you remember the howl over his wanting amnesty for illegal aliens? The howl came from Republicans, not Demoncrats. There were several other issues especially over fiscal responsibilities. What we did not do, for the most part, was scream that George was not an honorable man; a man of solid character. In fact, quite the opposite. We never claimed he was perfect. The Demoncrats, on the other hand, charged he was Satan in the flesh – an evil man. The reason I’m a Republican is because I objectively see this Party as one in which the majority of people have a common interest in that which is truly good for mankind and their families; people who have not sacrificed sacred religion for social religion and do honestly know the difference between good and evil. They are mostly people who recognize sincere and genuine patriotism and support of Nation from those others who are but loud mouth feather merchants proclaiming a false destructive and amoral patriotism. There was a time when we could have said that same good things about Democrats. No longer! That Party has been captured. So far as your personal belief that I have put my faith in man and not God, many of my former Orthodox parishioners would tell you that without question Fr. Mike did not, does not and will not compromise The Faith. Pax!

You Americans that follow the spin and lies of certain Democrats, should dig deeper for the truth about what brought this on. Subprime loans passed on to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that couldn't be backed because of non regulation that was killed 4 times by Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Schumer, Kennedy and other Democrats since it was established by President Bill Clinton in 1994.

Barney Frank said at least 5 times over these years that everyone deserves a home. Reality is that some people do not make enough for the amount of Morgage money that they were able to obtain.
I built my house in 1969, and I had to qualify by income, family expenses and other criteria. Wake up to the truth before it destroys what you have.

    • Jim

You forgot to mention one important thing Eddie. These people are not Democrats, they call themselves Democrats. The last Democrat in office was Harry Truman, these people are fascists and socialists bent on destroying this great Nation of ours.

  • Myke

B.O and Clinton did not care if everyone owned a home. This was a smoke screen to lead up to what is happening right now. They have taken our jobs and made our homes worthless. B.O and Pelosi and Reid want amnesty. They want to turn America into a third world country. They claim compassion for the illegals, when all they really want is more people working for slaves wages so that soon Americans will have to stand in line with the illegals for low wage jobs. If they had any compassion they would not have let big business exploit these people all these yrs. Right now Microsoft, Pfiser, Hewlett-Packard are laying off Americans and keeping their low wage Visa workers. Even with all the Americans who have lost jobs, the government is still passing out work Visas.
I don’t know how anyone can keep harping about Bush when it was the Democratic cngress that let ACORN force bankers into these faulty loans. They were a party of this housing fiasco which cause everything else. Barney Frank, CEO’s at ACORN who walked away with millions, people at Freddy Mac, Fannie Mae, Countrywide, walked away with millions. And while Bush and McCain tried to stop it the Democratic congress did nothing. If we seized all the money of these people and others who gave out loans to illegals and people without jobs, we wouldn’t need a stimulus. Instead , ACORN and the mortgage are getting more money from the stimulus. When did we stop punishing crooks? When did we start letting people run scams and not put them in jail? Since many of our politicians have decided they want a New World Order and the government will decide every aspect of your life. Everyone had better start checking what is really going on in America and start fighting it whether you are a Dem or Rep.

  • Bonnie Norem

So sorry to read and hear how we seniors who have (many of us including myself) had to work two jobs to make ends meet, worked our way through college, reached out to others through our own means and charity and now Obama wants to take that all away from us to give to those that aren’t willing to work hard, save and before they get something they want. In the golden years, that we worked and saved for, we thought we would have security, we sacrifice in early years by saving for, could enjoy. We looked forward to help in charitable ways giving to organizations serving people and church and delivering bread and food to the needy. We thought we would have the good doctors and health service we have always had because of working and being able to choose a good doctor and health insurance. These are things we have had for 8 years. My IRA went to basely nothing, our medicare premiums this year jumped 400%. We are the ones supporting the illegals, ones not wanting to work or take a job that is “below” them. My husband today returned to work. God, help our nation.

  • John

I love finding old quotes that show time and time again that history is doomed to repeat itself.

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:

‘A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.’
‘A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.’
‘From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.’
‘The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years’. ‘During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
    1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
    2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
    3. From courage to liberty;
    4. From liberty to abundance;
    5. From abundance to complacency;
    6. From complacency to apathy;
    7. From apathy to dependence;
    8. From dependence back into bondage’

It seems as if we are there! We are all socialists now.

    • John

That is why it is my opinion, except for non-working spouses and the retired, if you pay no income tax you do not have a vote.

      • linda

Amen. But don’t forget that illegals should not vote either. I wonder how many illegals were registered thru the efforts of ACORN. That should make us mad as hell!

    • Nina

Technically, we are a Constitutional Republic. While I agree that when too many people want to feed at the public trough, the system could collapse. I think we can avoid that by staying vigilant and educated. Unfortunately the Dems have done a great job of buying th loyalty and votes of a large segment of the population with our tax dollars. Goes to show you that over expanded welfare programs play right into the hands of the socialists. Not to mention the labor unions – probably the largest lobbyist group in DC. All children should be taught in school to distrust and watch closely their government.

    Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, ‘Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. ‘You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America . The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms — just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

Also, if you see that all of this wonderful government ‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America , you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this email, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America .

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have”

    Thomas Jefferson

    • Nina

While I have read this before, I really appreciated seeing it again. Something, perhaps, that should be hung on every wall.
      Thanks for the reminder

  • Myke

Stop hiding your head in the sand. Stop refusing to believe your party could do anything wrong. Find out the truth about both parties. There are bad and good people in both parties.
We have spent more on illegals than we did the war. Since the Dems are now the ones in power, they can be blamed for not putting in E-verify permanently. B.O has promised Mexican groups that he will get amnesty in even tho 85% of Americans voted against it. You should have caught onto that when he told you to make your kids learn Spanish. That is so illegals don’t have to learn English. In Oregon, people who have fought forest fires for years are now being laid off because because they don’t speak Spanish since some or the firefighters are now Mexican.
When we first started fighting amnesty, a spokesman for Station Casinos said if we deported illegals he would have to fill 50,000 jobs. I suppose he thought it would scare us if we stayed at one of his casinos and had to make our own bed. I saw 50,000 jobs that black and white Americans used to have.
Millions of people who worked construction lost their jobs because of illegals being hired. Not because Americans won’t do the job but because Americans won’t do the job for slaves wages. Americans have fought and sometimes died for every right we have, such as decent wages and safer working conditions. Now the illegals think they should have these same rights just because they sneaked across the border. Do you think it was all Reps that caused this or all Dems that caused this. It is some of all of them.

    • Nina

You are so right. I don’t think we have 2 parties anymore. Just 1 party posing as 2. Better to pick based on the person.

      • Myke

Nina thank you for the reply. I think you are right. Just 1 party posing as 2. Who do we trust?

        • Nina

As I said, I believe that we should, at this point, trust no one. This is not to say that we do not have a FEW trustworthy people in DC but since we cannot tell for sure who they are we simply have to trust no one and watch closely. I also believe that we have to be very pro-active. If you do not already go there, go to They have had a lot of state reps on there and it can be pretty interesting.

      • MAGGIEB

I never vote by party, I always listen to every candidate and research them before I vote.
News story today from Detroit, All whites were mandated to Leave the city council meeting , all blacks could stay.

  • Myke

B.O says he will bring the troops home. Home to what? To no jobs? To find out that their parents no longer have the equity in their house as a nest egg for when they retire. To utility bills that are going so high that only the rich can afford them. To wearing coats in your house in the winter because B.O said we can no longer keep our thermostats where we want them. To seeing our stimulus money go to illegals. To buying homes for illegals while Americans are losing theirs. To a country that will never be able to get out of debt. To letting a company from Spain build and own a highway in Texas that they can collect tolls on for the next 50 yrs. Since we won’t have E-verify , illegals will be building that road. Soldiers coming home to see the schools their children attend over crowded by illegals. To seeing their tax money going for welfare, free schooling, free medical, SS, etc etc to illegals. This great new health bill covers illegals. To no jobs being created because of the taxes on the rich will stop them from wanting to invest or create new businesses. What do these soldiers coming home have to look forward to. They can’t get out of the service and get a job because there are no jobs.

    • Nina

I thought that I was the only person in the world who had been following the “super highway”. What a rip off. I understand that Gov. Perry is saying that it has “gone away”. But I believe that what they are doing is building it in small increments under other names. I know that a lot of the taking of property has happened. Again, a case of the general public being totally unaware of what is going on. Then there are the UN “Biozones” and UN “Historic sites”.
Just today Gordon Brown was in the news, meeting with Obama about a “global” resolution for the current fiscal problems = Global Government.
      What a mess.

  • Myke

Start standing up for the Constitution. Start standing up for our immigation laws being enforced. I don’t care what party you are. If we don’t start fighting back there will be no America. La Raza is orchestrating demonstrations against deporting illegals. And your tax money is supporting La Raza. So is big business. They can get thousands of people to march in our country carrying Mexican flags and saying they demand their rights. Groups figthing against amnesty cannot get Americans to even show up. But we better start showing up or we will no longer have a country to fight for.

    • Jim

MYKE: I read a very interesting book titled Power by Deception: Wolves among Us. How true it is. We Americans better wake up soon! As the author states; Our Constitution has become a rope of sand that perishes in the twisting”. Our Legislative laws are not being enforced and a country without laws is a country without a Constitution! Our biggest enemy is the politicians we elect to represent us.

  • Myke

Hollywoodites who are for amnesty claim compassion. Ask them how much they pay their servants. McCain, Bush, Kennedy, B.O, Pelosi, Reid claim compassion for the illegals. Why then have they let these people be exploited all these years. How much compassion does it take to allow growers to pay pickers for how much they can pick, causing them to work longer hours and sometimes dropping dead in the fields from heat related illnesses. They are fighting for amnesty for two reasons. So they can hire people for lower wages like Microsoft is doing and so they can kill the middle class Americans, forcing us to work for those same wages. You don’t see any of this in the news. You have to search the web or go to the Grassroots places to find this out. And our politicians are counting on the fact that you won’t do that. You will blindly believe what your party tells you. Just like you won’t show up to fight against amnesty.

  • Myke

Mexico is a wealthy country. Their “owner” just passed Bill Gates in wealth. They could have well afforded to create decent paying jobs for their people, instead they kept them in poverty. they even allowed American companies to bring their businesses there and pay their people $4.00 a day. Do you think they did this for free. Do you think these companies aren’t paying someone for that right?
They forced them to sneak across the borders to feed their familes. The illegals wouldn’t fight for their rights in Mexico the way Americans fought for their rights. Instead they come here and demand their rights. They have no rights. They are illegals.
Mexico has it made. They can send their people here for our taxes to support them while they are stealing our jobs. They get free medical while some Americans are losing their homes and life savings due to high medical bills.
This new health plan will cause medical care to be rationed. People are no longer going to medical school. If Drs can no longer get rich from being a Dr why should they go to school. Right now Drs can refuse to see illegals so the illegals use our emergency rooms for everything from a headache to something serious.
Mexicans have said they will overtake America because we are a bunch of lazy white people who quit having children. Most American don’t have childdren they can’t afford to feed. They also don’t get free Dr and prenatal care and having the baby in a hospital for free. They aren’t sent home with car seats , diapers, formula etc.
How did the politicians who arranged all this possibly think they could do all this and not break America? They did know what would happen. But they were so interested in the campaign donations that big business was handing out they didn’t care.
They want a third world country so they can sit in their lavish, guarded homes on the hill and look down on poverty just as Mexico, India, China do. Are you ready to fight for your childrens future. You better start now.

  • Myke

Go here to read what they are trying to do to us now. Go to NumbersUSA or Fair. Plenty of Grassroots out there wanting to help us.

  • waltinseattle

right on myke. the overlords who are elected officials and their overlords who are the wholyier than holy “capitalists., (read anti-social sociopathic thieves). I love private property and capitalism, but ..offshoring and the rape of our country was not the capitalism we signed on to the constitution for, not the capitalism of “we the people.”

There is a web of collusion between these ruting elitists, and there is a language to confuse the working, productive classes (real production- not smoke and mirror bookeeping “value”). There is a debasing populism that would awe even Evita Peron.

Protect the borders, prosecute the employers of illegals, collect the evaded taxes of the verysame corporations we are bailing out. Let their offshore havens give them a helping hand. (insert laughtrack here) Kill the Federal Reserve and take back America from the Dems and Republicans, the “bankers” of international ghoulish capitalism and restore our terms of debate to an enlightened common sense base- not the debased populism of the welfare pimps and limbaugh retards.

    • Myke

Waltin Seattle….Exactly right. We know longer know who to trust. The Federal Reserve should be abolished. John Kennedy stopped it once. None of our “leaders” care about what the majority of Americans want. 85% of us voted against amnesty and yet they are still trying to push this thru. And anything else they want such as taking our guns.

  • Myke

B.O ‘s foreign aid price tag to exceed 50 billion

Will Rogers once said that Foreign Aid is when money from rich countries goes to rich people in foreign countries. We have been sending money to Africa for years thru Foreign Aid and charities. Do you see any difference in their poor?

  • Myke

Yes we all need to be pro active and trust noone. I will go to the site you sent me. I spend hours a day trying to find the truth and usually it is only the grass roots places that help. One thing I know for sure is if amnesty passes then we are doomed.

  • Myke

Texans stopped the government from taking their land by emminent domain to build that super highway. But they are now backdooring it and given the contract to Spain to build what they say has nothing do to with the super highway. More lies. Arkansas is also fighing to stop the super highway.

  • Myke

I live in Las Vegas. Quite some time ago, when we started fighting the Kennedy/Bush amnesty plan a spokesman from Station Casinos said (in our local paper) that if we deported illegals he would have to fill 50,000 jobs. They put up voting places in several casinos. Have you ever seen them put a voting place in a business? Hillary was here visiting Latino neighborhoods. She had the backing of exPres Fox of Mexico. Then B.O got the endorsement of the Culinary Union and thought he had it knocked but after Hillary said no person is an illegal, plus Fox’s endorsement she took Vegas. This proves to me that illegals are voting and not just in Vegas. Noone is checking to see if they are illegals. This is not a statement against the Dems, B.O or Hillary but against illegals voting.

  • Myke

That global government is all about first the North American Union and then the New World Order. They already have the European Union and has practically killed Europe. I have seen videos of Islamists demonstrating in the streets of London carrying signs that say all Infidels must die. Same in Paris and others. And noone stopping them.
All of what is happening in America is the prelude to the New World Order. The new health plan covers illegals. The government will decide who is worthy of a needed operation. If you are too old, the government decides if you get to have a needed operation. So I guess we get to watch our parents and Grandparents die a long painful death. Altho, 2 states do have legal assisted suicide so I guess we have an altenative. And when the New World Order is established the orders will come from this one world government.

    • Michael Willey

At last I see another informed citizen that appears to understand just what is happening in our great nation. The liberals, including those in the new administration are herding us toward socialism as quickly as they can.

  • Myke

I went to the site you suggested. I also received that just last night and sent it to everyone I could. Nice to know we may have the military behind us. At least some of them. I kept saying that no way would anyone be able to get our service people to arrest Americans. But there is always the chance of a shadow army.
Who said “Make them poor and then they won’t ask for freedom, they will just say feed me.” And in Rome it was said “Maybe we should make all the slaves wear white armbands and the answer was “No, because then they might see how many there are of them and rebel.”
Nice talking to all of you but have to go now. Hope we meet again. Will try to keep coming back to this site.

  • Scott

Wow, I never said anything about being a democrat or a liberal. I’m a registered republican and have been all my life.
I made no statement praising Obama. Didn’t vote for him and think he is totally clueless and unprepared for the office. And that is the same way I felt about W. and didn’t vote for him either.
But many of the comments show how those with blind loyalty have no objectivity.
As far as 911, from day 1 I considered it to be the biggest systemic failure of the U.S. government to protect it’s people in our history.

    • Jim

Scott…that is the best thing you said. I totally agree!

      • Scott

I’ve been fighting for years with my family (all staunch Republicans) about the poor judgement and bad policy of the Bush administration but they refused to see where this was going. I’m pissed at my party because I knew they were doing the wrong thing and it’s the reason we have this incompetent boob in the White House today. The liberals are just plain wrong in their ideology so I don’t expect them to have any good answers, but I’m disappointed in my party because they should have known better and did better.

        • Jim

Again Scott, I totally agree. In fact, the last time I saw America was in 1962. In my opinion, this is not the America I grew up in. This country has become a disgrace to the real America. Time or space does not allow me to expound my reasoning. We have a society that believes any kind of rhetoric handed them simply because many want something for nothing. The parasites and tapeworms will try to devour. The pigmy brains in Washington D.C. just about destroyed our manufacturing industry. Work is victory and when people do not have work they have a shackled conscience. There is more than one kind of terror in this world, and Americans are learning the real meaning of economic terrorism. The Republicans are no better than the Democrats for both have contributed to the problems. The people who caused the problems are elected and appointed to solve the problems. I believe that America is the neighborhood of the great as I’m sure you do. Liberty bent over our cradle. But at the rate we are going I as you are extremely concerned. What can we do? The only thing to do is to try to spread common sense and look on the brigther side. It is called beneficial thinking! The power to tax is the power to destroy and the so-called Democrats who insist on taxes and more taxes are really fascists and socialists, and will definitely try to destroy this great Nation of ours. I read a very interesting book titled Power by Deception: Wolves among Us which I believe every freedom loving person should read. It not only ask the questions but provides the solutions. In any event don’t let the morons get you down, just stick to your constitution. Good luck, Scott

        • Danny

Well stated Scott and Jim. A day shall come!

  • Gary

I have read with interest all the above comments and have concluded that we, as older, supposedly mature Amercians, haven’t got any better handle on the issues or problems than the younger set. We allowed an educational system in the 60′s to begin altering history to meet ‘their’ purpose. We too are to blame for letting it happen, standing by while the liberal thought machine took over the schools and universities. Few of us objected to the 60′s mentality – and even fewer of us offered sound, reasonable alternatives. We thought it was a phase our kids were going through – only to wake up on the morning of ‘reality’ to find out the indoctrination had already taken place. Want to blame someone? Look at yourself first and ask what you have done in the past 30 years to insure the Constitutional foundations of our land remained in tact. Did we forget that we – ‘Live by the choices we make?’ I think so and we aren’t doing much better today except to blame, complain, and continue to sit on our butts waiting for it to get better. Let me give you two more sayings:
“If things are going to change – I have to change” – “If things are going to get better – I have to get better”. It’s time to board the ship and throw the ‘tea’ in the ocean once again – but – I ‘ll bet most of you won’t show up for the ‘tea party’.

    • Jim

I agree Gary, the old saying “Nothing can do me damage except myself” is very true just as ” I have seen the enemy and he is us”. I wish it was quite that easy Gary, but I believe there are certain forces working overtime against freedom and politicians with no opinions are bought for any opinion. Gary, there is too much greed and corruption starting from the top to the bottom. If the root is bad the tree will fall. Let’s all try and spread common sense which I believe the maniacs in power have lost.

      • Gary

Jim – Great ‘Pogo’ quote there and thanks for the reminder. You are right – it is not easy but – we have to begin now fertilizing the tree so the roots grow deep with the new sapplings. We can remove these maniacs if we will have the will to do it. I am concerned that Conservatives have lost some of their will to remove the bad trees from the forest. It’s time and if we the people do not take the lead now – we will deserve what we get. There are 60 million of us out here that have waited too long for our Republican leaders to get off the dime and show leadership. Right is right and that is not an option for opinion. Those who want to ‘reach across the isle’ just so they are not perceived as controversial are those who have capitulated to the wrong (bad policies) which the left perpetuates. Not all policies of the left are bad – just like all policies of conservatives are good – but- we have a history of what moves this country forward and that seems to have been forgotten.

        • Jim

You are absolutely correct. That’s what I mean when I say “common sense” because Common sense leads to “beneficial thinking”. Big difference between thinking and beneficial thinking just as knowledge to “the right kind of Knowledge”. Getting back to basics in our educational system and getting back to basics respecting our constitution is the right road to follow. Also, “work” because “work is victory”. If you want a fort, build a fort! Do it! We have too many followers and no leaders. I continually do my part, however, there are too many wearing the fool’s cap. The Fool’s are in the majority. We must sweep in front of our own door first before we can help the guy around the corner. The right road to follow is out there and we must serve as the guidepost. Good luck.

  • jorgaone

I feel sorry for the people who lost all their investments and savings–but frankly, if I can get ANYTHING out of this thing that doesn’t come with strings–I’d probably take it.
I am trying to make ends meet on a disability income of less than $13,000 a YEAR–and I have a mortgage too.
I simply have NO descretinary income at all…If that $250 is on the level–maybe I can catch up on my electric bill to where I’m not paying just the PastDue amount every month…

  • Rick

The concept “the wisdom of crowds” has proven time and again to be smarter than any group of politicians. With the “we won get over it” partisanship in the current administration, we’ve abandoned the wisdom that comes from multiple perspectives. We, the American people are the losers in the current arrangement.

“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” (Alexander Tyler, Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, 1787)

  • Bob Livingston

The retiree benefits of the stimulus package are really a pittance. Our money crashes and they give us back a token to try to savvy retirees.

There is indeed a very pessimistic picture of the state of American retirement funds. Number one, the funds lost a trillion dollars in the crash of assets in 2008. And number two, which is never spoken by the politicians or the administration is the great depreciation of the currency that all retirees are faced with. But as Adolph Hitler said, “How fortunate for governments that the people are dumb.” It seems that no matter what the system does to pensioners, few of them ever realize what is happening.

  • Fran

Our system was never suppose to be a democracy, it was set up to be a Democratic Republic. Where you are govern by the rule of law and represented by the people. Democracy only works when there is a strong moral conscience at its fiber. We have left that behind. As much as I love this country, I think we are in real trouble.
We have been the land of the free, because of the brave.

  • Sandra C

In the long run, I am willing to bet W will be considered a great president. He faced 9/11, a sunami, hurricanes, floods, two wars, and unbelievable hate from liberals throughout his presidency. Despite it all, he did the best he could, vetoed bills he thought were wrong, and stood firm for the pro-life platform. He is a true hero. It is easy to be strong when everyone supports you, but not so when you stand alone. O’bama is taking away liberties at an alarming rate under the guise of helping the economy and protecting the people. He is pushing a repeal of W’s protection of doctors and nurses’ rights to follow their conscience when dealing with abortion procedures. What liberty will he take away from us next? What will you think when it is something dear to your heart? When one liberty is taken away, it is easier to eliminate another one, and a third liberty will fall as well until there is no longer an America as we know it. Do not be silent if you love America. We may not be perfect, but we are the country everyone strives to become part of. Is it possible there is a good reason for that?

    • NCIla

Sandra C, I believe you are absolutely correct. My Mama’s been saying that for years and I must agree. Not all of Bush’s ideas and decisions weren’t 100% perfect, but there isn’t a human being living whose are. Bush prevented another terrorist attack on American soil (and who knows where else), he stood firmly for human life, against stem cell research and made so many RIGHT decisions, that some day men will have to see and realize that he was truly an AMERICAN President, who loved his Country and God, and served them well. I hope he lives to see that day and that we’ll still be a free nation! He became a President our children could/can look up to when they need inspiration or an example. B O is destroying everything he possibly can and we must stand firm in opposing his wrong decisions and keeping others abreast of what is going on. I try to do that every day. What kind of man stands against protecting live-born helpless, innocent, trusting aborted babies (toss ‘em in the trash and let them die), for Partial Birth Abortion-helpless, innocent, trusting little ones-who, rather than being cleaned and wrapped, are suddenly in immense pain from the scissors being forced into the backs of their necks in order to cut their spinal cords. A man who would rather allow a little innocent helpless baby to be chemically burned to death in the womb, or have it’s body ripped into pieces (horrible pain) from being suctioned out of the mother’s womb, rather than stand up and denounce the procedures. A Godless, heartless man! The same man who, rather than support Israel who has been bombed by Hamas terrorists, he gives the Palestinians hugh dollars to rebuild when they were the ones who started the bombing? Israel needs to rebuild, and treat their injured, the same as Palestine. What kind of man would choose to “redistribute” our hard-earned money without our approval (like anyone, others than his cohorts, would give it); would continue to send monies to countries whose rulers keep it for themselves and use none to help the people it was given for? Add to that his attempts at repealing W’s bill granting protection to doctors and nurses’ rights to follow their own personal beliefs concerning abortion. What kind of man? He’s taking away our freedoms regarding our own health care and that is abominable. Does this man have a heart anywhere close? Is there a heart at all? As things are going, it won’t be long before we no longer are allowed our freedom of speech, believers in God will not be allowed to speak of Him, (there’s currently a minister in prison for witnessing to people on the street), and we will be forced to have any and all personal information available for anyone to see – something unconcienable to me – and any phone calls, emails, etc. will be no longer private. Our nation was founded on religious principles, but if he has his way, there’ll be no references to those principles, and no outward signs that they ever existed. He’ll have a lot of work to do because those principles, etc. are inscribed all across America, in and on buildings, etc. A person who thinks he has the right to undo everything that America has held dear, must feel himself to be God-like! We must stand for freedom and right. The price for this wonderful nation was very high. If you want the lives of the men and women who bought it with their lives to count for something, fight for what they died for – - FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM AND THIS GREAT NATION! Thank you, Sandra C!
God bless President G W Bush and America!

  • June Gagnon

Let’s face it, GB was not THE worst president we ever had; the only thing I can give him credit for is keeping our backsides safe, after 9/11 – -that much he did manage to do. I did vote for him, in 2000, thinking he was the best man up – -then, I, mistakenly, voted for him in 2004, much to my dismay. I won’t even go into the details, but he obviously couldn’t buck a democratically controlled house, so his second term went nowhere. However, we now have an “impostor” sitting in the oval office! He has, yet, to prove to me, or the rest of the nation, that he was, in fact, born in this country!! He has, yet, to produce an original, authentic, certified birth certificate, or even a certification of “reinstatement of citizenship” after spending 8 years as a citizen of Indonesia! I didn’t like him, from day one and still don’t like him now. He’s a “gifted” liar, very convincing, to those who are gullible and naive enough to believe him, but I’m not convinced.
I pray America will wake up soon and vote this destructive trio out of office- -I refer to Obama, Pelosi and Reid; I want my country back. So, as someone recently said: “I’LL KEEP MY GUNS, MONEY AND FREEDOM – -YOU CAN KEEP THE CHANGE”!!

    • deltaweb

I have never trusted his authenticity either and feel that he is taking us toward a very destructive end. I recently received an email from a friend that quoted an article by Dr. Sam Vaknin, an Israeli psychologist, discussing why he thought Obama was a narcissist and why so many people continue to laud this guy. I checked the authenticity of the information and found that Dr. Sam Vaknin did not write that article. In fact, it was written by Ali Sina, September 22, 2008, and it was titled “Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer.” I also found an article by Dr. Sam Vaknin, entitled “Barack Obama – Narcissist or Merely Narcissistic?” When you read these articles from the web sites I quote below, you may understand why so many people have fallen under his “spell” and continue to think he’s doing good for the country. The judgment should be each individual’s to make, and, for Mr. Obama’s benefit, after expert medical evaluation, if that would ever happen. After reading the articles myself, and based on what has already transpired, I must question if Obama a narcissist and/or if he suffer from narcissistic personality disorder (NPD)? If so, will this disorder ultimately result in the demise of our nation?

“Understanding Obama: The Making of a Fuehrer”:

“Barack Obama – Narcissist or Merely Narcissistic?”:

  • Roger

Sandra is right but there is more. In fact there is one group that supposed has proven that countries with large abortion rates have done poorly in the economical realm. Thomas Jefferson wrote on September 6, 1819: “The Constitution is a mere thing of wax in the hands of the judiciary, which they may twist and shape into any form they please.” Who twisted the Constitution to make abortion legal?

And again in 1821 he wrote: “The germ of disolution of our federal government is in…the federal judiciary; an irresponsible body (for impeachment is scarcely a scare-crow) working llike gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States.”

In 1962 the Supremes took away Bible reading in the schools and look at the rise in crime on a chart from that time. Then (I think it was under Lyndon Johnson) that the government told the nation’s pastors that they could no longer talk much about politicians or lose their tax exempt status.

Many of our problems could have been avoided if we had had courts that would stand by the Constitution – they have been making up their own laws for some time and most of us have just rolled over and accepted their decisions rather than getting the Congress to fight them with new laws.

The Supreme Court has rejected even hearing some cases that have been brought before them to decide if B.O. is eligible to be President because of citizenship questions – see WorldNetDaily.

Also, John Adams on October 11, 1798 said: “…Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Well, look at Hollywood and the media and what they are doing to the morals of this nation. The Bible says: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Many in this country have told Him to get lost so is what is happening really that surprising when all of this is put together?

  • Patti

I have come across this website and want to add my two cents. We havn’t had a good President since Ike and he warned us to watch out for the corporations that would choose to run this country and now they have.We are in deep trouble and W did not help, they say he kept us safe” WELL” maybe if his Father would have kept his nose out of Kuwait we wouldn’t be in this pickle and the twin towers would still be standing and all those people would not have lost their lives, my girlfriends son died there and I really get very angry when I hear how our politicians take care of us,they only take care of themselves, they have they best health care, terrific retirement ,need I go on they take office and then forget about the people who put them there and have the nerve to tell us about what a wonderful job they are doing for us.

  • http://? Fr. Mike

Do you realize the words that no one wants to say but what will be absolutely required to recapture our Republic? The words are -Another American Revolution!!! Those of us who are of retirement age, men and women who come from an era that was much more balanced, are shocked by the degradation brought on by immoral and amoral people and politicians. Good has now become evil and that which was once considered evil is now considered good. There is a great deal more sickness within our nation than the economy and the current administration and congress personify that evil. Remember folks, that which is right will always be right no matter who says it is wrong and that which is wrong will always be wrong no matter who says it is right. If you want to keep America God fearing and free, you’re going to have to fight for it again.

  • Dee

I am 73, where do I sign up for the revolution ? Friends, we are already in a communist country. This has been brought about by EVERY ‘leader’ in DC since 1913. All have been put in place by the new world disorder, all the wars have been created by the global elite lead by its bankers. One day of war at anytime in history harvests big bucks for them.

Every time OO (osama-obama) opens his mouth, the lies spill out and the ones who gave him his position of leadership are pulling his strings like every other pres…

We continue to scratch our heads wondering when things will improve and how come so much stupidity seems to prevail…Stop wondering and study history. Evil continues because those in charge have to ‘keep in line’ and if they do not they are destroyed or ruined. Anytime a con-gess person attempts to do things for we the people, they are bullied into doing what the liberal left wants under the term ‘bipartisan’ ..

Stimulus package… no amount of money will correct the problem. If you are short of cash, you don’t get into more debt to solve your poor management skills.

Arresting all of congress, fed judges, presidents present and past, all state and local governments, sending them to Gitmo and putting them on trial for treason is a start..Maybe we could try them starting 5 years after their arrest….Pray tell do any of them have to take drug tests to get the lucrative ‘postions’ they hold….Did you have to take drug tests to get your job? Just wondering !!!??

Bi-partisan means that some so called republicans should vote along with the democraps. It goes on the say that no democraps must ever vote with the republicans. That is the liberal philisophy of bi-partisanship.

Individual elected officials rate in polls high. Oh! My congressman is a real good guy, he brings home the bacon (earmarks) to our state. Congress itself rates in polls very low collectively. Oh My these guys are a bunch of crooks. How can that possible be? That is how crooks keep getting elected election after election. I am 73 also and can see some kind of a revolution coming, but only if enough people pull their heads out of their asses and come up for a breath of air air long enough to see the truth about that has happened to the country. Socialism sucks .

Well now I am talking with people who are on the ball.I have found some sanity in this chaos that we are all living through,Yes I totally agree that the politicians in Washington should all be held to account for their selfish behavior of the American people,it seems some of them only care for the welfare of illegal aliens.

U.S. Reprehensible Nancy Pelosi and U.S.Senileator Harry Ried along with a host of others of the same ilk, all ought to receive a regular shot of a truth serum to keep them even a little bit honest. If they are somehow caught in a lie anyway, which shouldn’t take very long, Their true colors will clearly show. Even at that, I wonder if the voting public is intelligent enough to recognize the truth that they are being politically screwed by a gang of liars and thieves. There was an article in the Readers Digest some years ago quoting someone back when who said in effect ” that once the citizens of a country figure out how to help themselves from the countries treasury, the country never last very long after that.” Are we almost there already? The first cure for the problems we are now facing is to institute term limits for all elected offices. If term limits is good for the office of the President, it ought to likewise be good for representitives and Senators also. Supreme Court Justices ought to be removed by law from office before they become senile like Justice Douglass and a couple others became. I am simply fed up with all this political B.S. that is going on in Washington D.C. and other places.

I am 80 years old & a U.S.Air Force vet. I agree that this country is fast becoming a Socialist country. If you want to see what could happen if there is another terrorist attack, and martial law is declared, do a search on Executive Orders #10995 thru 11051. Pretty scary. Y’all keep up the good fight.

I want to make a suggestion for our illustrious congressmen and women who are on the floor of Congress fighting for money, worrying about their own pet projects, and projecting woe at the horrid mistakes and devious ploys used by the OTHER party. You are all the same! We are the little guys, working from ages 18 to 65 to earn $1,000.00 per month in social security. This is the same social security system which you say is broken. You are right: it is broken due to the fact that we killed millions of potential taxpayers with Roe vs Wade. Also, social security has been raided by you, the Congressmen and women for your pet projects with nothing ever paid back into the system. Ah well, we all bear the burden of a broken system, do we not? No, actually we do NOT. The fact is, Congressmen and women voted themselves a GOOD, secure retirement package a few years back which assures any senator serving even one term in office of a lifetime retirement pay at the same salary he or she made as a senator. The time is NOW to dump the Congressmen and women’s retirement system into social security to shore up the failing social security system. Congressmen and women do not even contribute to their private system on a paycheck by paycheck basis as we do who receive social security. They just GET! Does it seem a bit unfair to you, fellow taxpayer and social security recipient? It does to me. I suggest again that ethical Congressmen and women willingly give up this cash cow for the good of the country. Let us see which, if any, Congressman or woman will give up their bounty and become one of the flock!

Lets just pretend for a while that all our politicians and government employees ,both democrat and republicans are honest and trust worthy . They just have differant ways to correct the same problems .
It would seem to me ,now that money is so scace . That we would have high intrest rates . When Jimmy Carter was president we had 20% interest rates . Twenty % really tied evreything up ,including our government . Carter was unable to do hardly anything he wanted too . But now we have 1% interest . Isnt 1 % interest about as close to free money as you can get . What the difference free money or a free house . But the interest rates and the money supply is not controled by the government . So how can we blame the government for our crisses in money ? Seems the more we learn about whats going on the more confusing it gets . What happend to free enterprize , If the owners of a company dont have good managers , they lose money , If they loose too much money , they loose the company to differant owners . Different owners come with better plans and maybe new management . Or the company just goes out of buisness . This is called captalism , it it self regulated by the fear of loosing and the love of winning . Its seems now we are planning some kind of new system , of government buyouts or bailouts .
This may be benificial on a temporary basis , but over the long hual it has proved to be a very ineffecient poor way to run companies . Ask any eastern european or Russian , Ask Putin or Dmitry

I believe AIG should have been dismembered and sold off in parts , to many different owners . Some insurance policies maybe should not be sold at all .
The government is now the owner of almost the whole mess . Sounds like this company has too many over educated managers , Its impossible to insure against death and taxes and win . But thats what AIG has been doing . They look to me to be a company that could bring down our whole government .

It says “Consumers may obtain tax credits for a range of eco-friendly home improvements such as solar-energy heating systems, geothermal heat pumps and wind energy systems”. It is true they can. The credits are up to 30%!

It was stated that under clinton we had a surplus. Depends on how the accounting was done. I believe the ongoing deficit of SS and other mandatory charity programs were not included in Clinton’s stunning glorious budget. Just like he didn’t have sex, he didn’t allow for Security Security, Medicare, etc. to show up in the accounting. Well, as they say ” you can make the numbers show anything, as long as you know what you want shown.”
Each President has had glowing moments and not so glamourous moments. Bashing of Presidents comes under the 1st amendment; however, socialism is not about Presidents but a way of life. I for one do not want my hard earned dollars to be redistributed to those too lazy to work, look for free hand outs, etc. In Mexico, you don’t work, you don’t get handouts.
And if this presidency doesn’t get stopped, we will be a welfare nation depending on the government for everything. Our real problems are “political correctness” vs “common sense”, greed by those in power who exempt themselves from the bills they pass and a need for term limits so our reps can really work for the people rather than for what they get for themselves.
Sorry folks, enough is enough. Give those on welfare community service type jobs (earn that welfare); teach them to fish, not feed them.
