Stein: Debate Commission Damns Democracy
JILLSTEIN.ORG
Jill Stein believes the CPD is stealing the election.

There was another option besides President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney at the Presidential debate at Hofstra University on Tuesday, but local police promptly led long-shot Green Party candidate Jill Stein and her running mate, Cheri Honkala, away in cuffs when the two tried to enter the venue.

Stein and Honkala will appear on 85 percent of ballots on Election Day, and poll around 2-3 percent in a handful of recent national polls. The two women were arrested by local police when they tried to enter the grounds of Hofstra University, in Hempstead, N.Y., where the debate was scheduled to take place. They were later released from police custody.

A press release from the Stein campaign explains:

Dr. Stein and Ms. Honkala walked with supporters toward the Hofstra campus at 2:00pm EST [Tuesday]. There they were met by three ranks of police officers in uniform and plainclothes. At this point, the Green Party candidates held an impromptu press conference in which Dr. Stein called the CPD debate a “mockumentary,” saying that, “We are here to bring the courage of those excluded from our politics to this mock debate, this mockery of democracy.”

Dr. Stein and Ms. Honkala then turned and began walking onto the debate grounds, at which point the rank of police officers physically stopped them and pushed them back. The two women sat down and the police arrested them, saying that Stein and Honkala would be charged with “obstructing traffic,” a charge Jill Stein for President staffer and lawyer Alex Howard called “bogus” in that there was no through-traffic visible at any time during the incident.

While Stein and Honkala presumably did not actually expect to be allowed to enter the debate, the duo was protesting the Democrat and Republican elites’ control over the Commission on Presidential debates (CPD). The CPD has gone to great lengths to ensure that no third party candidates would share the stage at any debate with Obama and Romney despite vocal protests and even a lawsuit from Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson.

Stein makes a convincing case as she is being arrested in the video below:

Stein is a human health and environmental advocate who graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1973 and from Harvard Medical School in 1979. For the past 25 years Honkala has been a leading advocate for poor and homeless in America.

The Green Party are pretty much a bunch of nut cases but in this case I agree with Stein. She and the other candidates from the Green Party, Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party and others should be allowed to participate. Apparently, when the League of Women Voters was running the debates, this was the case. Now, the people who run the debates will only allow the Democrat and Republican candidates to participate. I signed a petition to allow Gary Johnson to participate, though I doubt I’d ever vote for him. Unless Romney gives me a reason to vote for him, which he has yet to do, I’m leaning toward voting for the Constitution Party candidate Virgil Goode.

Mr. Olsen…where have you been living the last 4 years ?

    • Gary L

A long as the two party system we have stays in control of our government, third party candidates will not get a fair shake at the debates much less the Whitehouse.

So HOW does one mock a democracy? A democracy mocks itself. THAT’S why democracies DON’T last.
Don’t concern yourself with greenies. Self-made retardation is its own reward, so to speak. Being that way by choice just makes it worse. If someone like Gore can be the high priest of anything – let alone global warming or any other psychotic green concept – you know you’re dealing with world-class LOSERS. Some people actually look up to Gore and such hardcore losers. Imagine THAT.

I will support Harold Olsen. He has the “right” to vote for whomever he pleases. I believe the candidates from the other parties should have been included in the presidential debate. These two women should not have been arrested. The bias and unfairness of the CPD is astounding.

While I agree other candidates should be at the debate there have to be some kind of limits put on it otherwise there would be so many there it would be chaos. I would propose something to the effect of: to be included in the debate you must be on the ballot in at least 25 states, get some minimum % (say 5%) of the vote in the states you were in the last election, etc.. This should allow the major alternate parties to be included without including those who only appear on 1 or 2 states ballots.

We just had almost four years of nothing done good and all done bad. What party was that? We see it is who is in office of that party and not just what party. We note that Obama advisers must of watched the Ryan/Biden debate over and over and paid attention to what Ryan said. Obviously, if one does none of those things in over 3 years would he suddenly change or is it what we all should think, just more lies?

  • Baloney Toney Mahoney

The Mahoney Man says: Until they go back to the style of Lincoln-Douglas, without a BS moderator & real dialogue & debate, why even watch????????? BTW, Stein is not a complete wacko Green-nut job…I’ve heard her views on things & she makes a lot of sense on many crucial issues including welfare!!!

  • tim

The green party, no jobs and more welfare

  • http://www.facebook.com/dan.mancuso.56 Dan Mancuso

I don’t know anything about these two women. I do know that the Green Party is merely another lefty leaning, socialist, progressive wing of the elite’s NWO regime, used to capture tree huggers and animal rights activist drones.
Having said that I must also say that I applaud these two women for taking the stand they did to clearly illustrate the farce these so-called debates represent as well as the BS two party system – another wing of the NWO’s regime. Pay Attention!

    • eddie47d

You don’t have less jobs with green energy but more and more jobs equal less welfare Tim. Oil companies aren’t going away so how do you justify your statement? .

      • s c

Komrade ‘e,’ go to Spain, and ask them how their ‘green job’ gambit is working out. WHile you’re at it, ask them how their economy is doing. And then, ask yourself how you managed to live this long without a functioning brain.
Did you encounter any Spetsnaz types in the Denver area? You are really a piece of work, komrade. Fidel needs you.

    • actual socialist

For the record the green party DOES have SOME anti-capitilist elements but if you read ther ten guiding princeiples you see that they stop just short of socialism. they are at heart reformists serious reformists but reformists. to be socialist is to be revolutionary. remember that dan.

      • http://www.facebook.com/dan.mancuso.56 Dan Mancuso

        To an actual socialist;
“Socialism is merely a slowed down version of Communism, with out the violence and revolution”.
        Vladimir Lenin
        Remember that socialist!
